He's going to get that call today.

Rounds two and three of the NFL Draft happened tonight
in Green Bay, shed door. Sanders at home in Texas
with his family, trying to find out where he's going
to go to play quarterback next year. It starts seven
pm Eastern on NFL Network. Tom, what's the prediction now
the crystal.
Speaker 4 (01:00):
Ball, if you will, for Shure Sanders.
Speaker 5 (01:01):
We'll start looking at the teams that are right there
at the top of the second round. The Cleveland Browns
have two picks out of the first four in round two,
you've got the Raiders who have one of the first
picks in round two as well. The Steelers do not
have a second round pick, they do have a third
round pick, which potentially could be the floor for schdor Sanders.
The Saints still need a quarterback. That's another team. They're
drafted at number forty overall, so there's a bunch of

different teams. But I would caution people, as I've tried
to do throughout the entire week, that there are different
flavors of the four quarterbacks in the clump behind cam Ward,
who goes number one overall, and there is not clear
consensus across the league for any of those quarterbacks to
be surefire first rounders, surefire starters. So it was not
a shock that Jackson Dart ended up going where he did.

With the Giants trained backup into the first round, I'm
choosing Jackson Dart over schdor Sanders. My understanding is there
are layers to his game that the Giants really want
to have in terms of he's a better runner, he's
a little bit bigger. Obviously, he's played tough competition in
the SEC. But if you think about how they want
to play football, they want to have some RPO threat.
They want to have some of the Reid options and
those elements like Brian Dabolgran with Josh Allen in the

early days, like you ran with Daniel Jones when they
went to the playoffs a couple of years ago. Here,
it would not be a shock either if we see
Jalen Milroe or Tyler Schuck end up being the third
quarterback off the board today. They are all different flavors.
There are teams that need a quarterback here, and if
you just laser in on what they're getting as a player,
setting aside all the other different things here, you just
have to figure out is this guy going to be

a fit for the culture, for the team, for the
scheme that we want to play, and that's going to
dictate on this all.

Fory good way to help us understand the quarterbacks, Tom,
and it's greatly appreciated as we move forward in this
year's draft. Now, what I love about GMFP is that
we don't have loser talk on this show. We're not
going to denigrate you for your draft pick that you
made last night. We'll just passively ignore you. We won't
talk about it. What we will talk about, though, is
who won the night? Tom Okay, who won the night?

To me, the big winner was Green Bay, Wisconsin, because
not only do you have two hundred and five thousand people,
I'm stating a hotel down the street. I got a
perfect view down the road and I can see it.
I can see the people filling the streets. I can
hear seven different eighties cover bands playing. I get to
see the sea of people. And is somebody who lived

here for three years and has really seen this area
grow up, especially around the stadium and the work the
Packers have done with Title Town. The fact that you
have that level of a crowd and you got Mark
Murphy in the background here, who's spearheaded Title ten.

He's retiring, he's moving aside under the bylaws, he's seventy
years old. He has to step aside at Paul's. He's
going to be taken over. But he gets to announce
the pick. He gets to go up there, and for

take a wide receiver in round one. Jacobs said it
we need a number one wide receiver. The fans have

been waiting for it. Jalen Walker was the pick back
in Oh that's the wrong name back in two thousand
and two. Javon Walker, Jalen Walker last night, fifteenth of
the Falcon. Javon Walker was the last pick in two
thousand and two. How old was Matthew Golden when they
made that he was not born yet. That's how long
it's been. It just it all came together in that moment.

I was just happy for the city of Green Bay.

Tom incredibly well said, because it was already an entire
mood here last night with two hundred thousand plus people
that had been drinking respectively respectively all day and it's
all thirty two teams represented. But when Mark Murphy walked
out on that stage and said wide receiver in the
first round, everyone lost their minds, I mean. And the
fact that the packers were in the twenties and people

stayed and waited. It was fantastic. And then Golden delivered.
He tried to grab the mic on the podium. They
had to turn the audio on for the young man.
It was perfect, well done.

Time. There isn't a new cool thing now where there's
an expectation when the hometown teams player gets drafted like
Terry on Arnold last year or this year, like you
have to put on a show. You can't just come
out and wave, and he did it. I really like that.
Mark Murphy broke protocol too, And before he said the name,
he said something we haven't done since tooth and everybody
knew because that's been this SoundBite that's beaten, beaten to

a pulp. Listen. I grew up in Chicago. I love
the Bears. As you know, I've always had huge affection
for Packers fans. It's such a fun rivalry. It's so nice.
I love Wisconsin. I love everything here, no animosity whatsoever.
But my winner of the draft, this is another town.
It's a town that we don't talk about much at
all on this show. I think the winner of the

draft is the Jaguars. And I'm talking about from the
night one, and I'm thrilled to say that. First of all,
when's the last time we had a Jaguars draft conversation
that wasn't about the number one overall pick. They made
the move. They went into the night and said, we
are getting Travis Hunter, and I don't care what we're
going to have to pay for it. They got the
most interesting player in the draft. The guy will be

the most popular player in the draft, not to mention,
likely the best player in the draft, and certainly the
most versatile player in the draft. That is an instant star.
That is an instant ticket Spike Jersey Spike. All that
stuff aside from how good he is as a player.
As to the price that they paid, let me tell
you how little I care what they gave the Cleveland Browns.
If I haven't done this routine yet, this I'll do

it now. I hate draft picks, their pixie dust. They're
lottery scratchers. Most of them amount to nothing. A large
majority of them amount to mistakes made. There is no
assurance that either the Browns, as if we trust them implicitly,
are going to nail those draft picks, or that the
Jaguars would have if they kept them. I like a

team that has conviction in a guy. They came in
with a new coach and a new era and said,
that's our guy. I'll give you ten first round picks.
I'm leaving here with Travis Hunter. I respect that, and
I like that, and I also think there's a logic
to it. Their first round pick this year is Travis Hunter,
the wide receiver. Their first round pick next year is
Travis Hunter, the cornerback. They got two players. You can

have the pick, Browns. We already picked two guys with
one pick, so go ahead and get it. And it's
just I've seen all the takes. Travis Hunter is a
nice player. The Jaguars are crazy now, the Jaguars are bold.
You want to just sit back and be the Jaguars
for the next five years. And eventually dreffor Lawrence kind
of didn't work out, and we're six and eleven this year.

Blah blah. Break the cycle. Stop. You have to do
something really emphatic and maybe even conventionally irresponsible to break
the cycle. I think they broke the cycle last and
I think they got the best player in the draft.
I don't give a damn what they paid for it.

The plan is to start off Travis Hunter as a
wide receiver and then they're going to sort of work
his way in. He's going to be in the defensive
meetings as well. They're going to give him some there,
but he's gonna start out as a wide receiver for
the Jacksonville Jaguars.

One of the reasons that I was skeptical of this
trade actually coming down. Was Cleveland has been thinking about
Travis Hunter non stop in terms of you got the
GM Andrew Berry out there say this guy is a
show Ayotania football. How do you not take the show Ayotani?
The more that I asked people and I texted a
bunch of different GMS executives for other teams, and part
of what they said was this is a quarterback premium

that they got.
Speaker 6 (08:00):
Doesn't mean it's the right move.
Speaker 5 (08:02):
Time will tell on that, but they got a quarterback
premium for team to move up three spots in terms
of getting next year's first round pick, getting another second
round of this year, and getting more so for the
Cleveland Browns. Now, as you're moving forward, let's just think
about this for a second. What are the Browns doing?
Why do the Browns want to have extra picks next year?

And you could say the same thing for the La Rams.
Why did the Rams choose to trade out a round
one and get an.

Extra first round pick next year?

Maybe, just maybe, the twenty twenty six quarterback class might
be looking a little bit better than the twenty five
quarterback Right now, the Browns have Joe Flacco a top
their depth chart with Kenny Pickett. Right now, the Rams
have Matthew Stafford, who is on a year to year
basis considering idea a new contract. I'm not going to retire,

don't want to be on a new team. Everybody's going
to need a new quarterback at some point.

Remember over these next twelve months, the fact that those
two teams, the Browns and the Rams, have an extra
first round pick, and what potentially that could mean for
the optionality they have in the twenty twenty six ers.

with the fingers, what is the twenty You did that, Tom,
and that you got locked in? And I got goosebumps
when need did that. However, let me let me, let
me push back. It's it pertains to the Browns of
twenty twenty six. We've said this all morning. Two picks
out of the first four tonight. So if they pass
on quarterback with both of those, that means that they're

really going in with Pickett and Flacco for the entire
season and then making a play for next year right
like there were.

They Well, or they take or they trade for Kirk
Cousins at some point they signed Joe Flacklin Park because
they were unconvinced that the Falcons are actually gonna trade him.
Or there is that other clump of quarterbacks here. This
is one of the other fascinating storylines. It's gonna start
late tonight. There are five quarterbacks outside of those guys
we've talked about a bunch right Shadur's still available, Milroe
is still available, Shocks still available. These are names that

every college football fan knows. Will Howard just won the
national title. Quinn Yours the College Football Playoff twice. Kyle McCord,
who was Ohio State's quarterback, goes to Syracuse. Everyone goes,
what's he doing? He leads the nation in passing. Dylan
Gabriel at Oregon won a ton of football games. And
Riley Leonard, who based upon what you saw a duke
you think we'd be talking about as a high pick,

went to Notre Dame. There were some ups and downs.
He was learning that style of offense for the first time.
All five of those guys will go at some point
between rounds three and five in my conversations with teams,
and every team has those five guys stacked differently, so
as much as the focus today is gonna be when
does Shador go? When does Milroe go? When to let
your degree is Tyler Shuck go. Keep in mind, if

somebody falls in love with Will Howard, somebody falls in
love with just the winner of Quinn You, or somebody
falls in love with Kyle McCord, you could see one
of those guys vaulting above some of those names we've
talked about a whole lot more.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
The Jaguars, the Rams, they got options, that's what they got.
They got more picks that they get to decide, and
the Jaguars got their guy, and that's awesome.

We're happy for them.

about quarterbacks, and there's a reason why it's the premium
position in the NFL.

and stressed for them about what the narrative around that was,
because I'm concerned that it's going to be boring or.

I was worried about the Cowboys pick.

Instead, not only did they get a guy from Alabama
and Tyler Booker and yes, in the first segment of
this hour, am I talking about offensive lineman which sometimes
make Kyle's skin crawl. But when you look at this guy,
how do you not like this guy? Three hundred and
seventy one times last year at Alabama last season, Jalen
Miller Roe dropped back to pass, he was never sacked
on pass protection, and Tyler Booker was playing guard for

that team. I asked him if he is, if Dak
Prescott is your new best friend.

Jonas's went into college.

We went to Disney for the full day and had
the time of our lives.

It was suddenly memorable to have time together in that
way before things started to shift and change more and more.

So I knew there were things going on at home,
and then as time went on and I learned, you know,
just the extent of what was being asked of him
and what was required, just creating a profound respect for him.

At that point, George needed twenty four to seven care.
Speaker 10 (15:05):
My mom had four kids at home. I got to
grow through my whole childhood and high school and all that,
you know, with the dad, and they don't get that. So,
you know, just trying to help however I can.

He just stepped right up to the plate and took over. Hey, Yonas,
I know you're busy, but are you able to do
some pickups or drop ups? Hey Yonas, I know this

Being able to, you know, go to siblings' games and
support them and just talk about the game with them,
encourage them and help them. Still have that you know,
presence of someone who just really cares about what you're doing.

One of my roommates came in was like, yo, like
you see this like on Twitter, and it was like
something to do with like shoot it. I were just
sitting on our phones on the couch, just waiting for updates.
We see some like a bus with students and it
was like football players on it. We just kept like
finding out more and more and like we hear like

three of our teammates got shot.

Breaking news.

We are continuing to monitor.

Three UVA football players have been shot and killed, two
others wounded. As the campus is reeling from a shooting.

We stayed up all night and then we had like
a meeting. Everybody came in and kind of just sat
with the coaches. I don't even think anything was said.
We kind of just all sat there and shock.
Speaker 7 (16:40):
It broke the team at first. You know, people are
kind of in disbelief, like this can't be true.

What do we do next?

I don't think of us seen him.

This shaken up doesn't even feel real. And then you know,
you start to go through days and you know he's
not coming over no more, Like they're really gone, and
definitely gives you appreciation for life.

It is terrifying and very disheartening as a mother to
see how your life can change in an instant. It
is terrifying.

really hard, and watching his dad decline, I mean, it
wasn't easy. This was so much of his passion and

He poured so much into my life. I want to
be a great father as well someday, So being able
to take all the stuff I've learned to keep going
and letting everything he gave to me and not go
to waste. Being able to cherish those memories just helps

always stay close with people who care about you, who

we're there for you in the beginning.

I was sitting at the bar after I got off

with his family, trying to find out where he's going
to go to play quarterback next year. It starts seven
pm Eastern on NFL Network. Tom, what's the prediction now
the crystal.

Ball, if you will, for Shure Sanders.
Speaker 5 (01:01):
We'll start looking at the teams that are right there
at the top of the second round. The Cleveland Browns
have two picks out of the first four in round two,
you've got the Raiders who have one of the first
picks in round two as well. The Steelers do not
have a second round pick, they do have a third
round pick, which potentially could be the floor for schdor Sanders.
The Saints still need a quarterback. That's another team. They're
drafted at number forty overall, so there's a bunch of

different teams. But I would caution people, as I've tried
to do throughout the entire week, that there are different
flavors of the four quarterbacks in the clump behind cam Ward,
who goes number one overall, and there is not clear
consensus across the league for any of those quarterbacks to
be surefire first rounders, surefire starters. So it was not
a shock that Jackson Dart ended up going where he did.
(01:46):
With the Giants trained backup into the first round, I'm
choosing Jackson Dart over schdor Sanders. My understanding is there
are layers to his game that the Giants really want
to have in terms of he's a better runner, he's
a little bit bigger. Obviously, he's played tough competition in
the SEC. But if you think about how they want
to play football, they want to have some RPO threat.
They want to have some of the Reid options and
those elements like Brian Dabolgran with Josh Allen in the

early days, like you ran with Daniel Jones when they
went to the playoffs a couple of years ago. Here,
it would not be a shock either if we see
Jalen Milroe or Tyler Schuck end up being the third
quarterback off the board today. They are all different flavors.
There are teams that need a quarterback here, and if
you just laser in on what they're getting as a player,
setting aside all the other different things here, you just

all on this show. I think the winner of the

draft is the Jaguars. And I'm talking about from the
night one, and I'm thrilled to say that. First of all,
when's the last time we had a Jaguars draft conversation
that wasn't about the number one overall pick. They made
the move. They went into the night and said, we
are getting Travis Hunter, and I don't care what we're
going to have to pay for it. They got the
most interesting player in the draft. The guy will be

the most popular player in the draft, not to mention,
likely the best player in the draft, and certainly the
most versatile player in the draft. That is an instant star.
That is an instant ticket Spike Jersey Spike. All that
stuff aside from how good he is as a player.
As to the price that they paid, let me tell
you how little I care what they gave the Cleveland Browns.
If I haven't done this routine yet, this I'll do

it now. I hate draft picks, their pixie dust. They're
lottery scratchers. Most of them amount to nothing. A large
majority of them amount to mistakes made. There is no
assurance that either the Browns, as if we trust them implicitly,
are going to nail those draft picks, or that the
Jaguars would have if they kept them. I like a

team that has conviction in a guy. They came in
with a new coach and a new era and said,
that's our guy. I'll give you ten first round picks.
I'm leaving here with Travis Hunter. I respect that, and
I like that, and I also think there's a logic
to it. Their first round pick this year is Travis Hunter,
the wide receiver. Their first round pick next year is
Travis Hunter, the cornerback. They got two players. You can

have the pick, Browns. We already picked two guys with
one pick, so go ahead and get it. And it's
just I've seen all the takes. Travis Hunter is a
nice player. The Jaguars are crazy now, the Jaguars are bold.
You want to just sit back and be the Jaguars
for the next five years. And eventually dreffor Lawrence kind
of didn't work out, and we're six and eleven this year.

Blah blah. Break the cycle. Stop. You have to do
something really emphatic and maybe even conventionally irresponsible to break
the cycle. I think they broke the cycle last and
I think they got the best player in the draft.
I don't give a damn what they paid for it.

The plan is to start off Travis Hunter as a
wide receiver and then they're going to sort of work
his way in. He's going to be in the defensive
meetings as well. They're going to give him some there,
but he's gonna start out as a wide receiver for
the Jacksonville Jaguars.

One of the reasons that I was skeptical of this
trade actually coming down. Was Cleveland has been thinking about
Travis Hunter non stop in terms of you got the
GM Andrew Berry out there say this guy is a

The more that I asked people and I texted a
bunch of different GMS executives for other teams, and part
of what they said was this is a quarterback premium

Doesn't mean it's the right move.

Time will tell on that, but they got a quarterback
premium for team to move up three spots in terms
of getting next year's first round pick, getting another second
round of this year, and getting more so for the

about this for a second. What are the Browns doing?
Why do the Browns want to have extra picks next year?

And you could say the same thing for the La Rams.
Why did the Rams choose to trade out a round

who was Ohio State's quarterback, goes to Syracuse. Everyone goes,
what's he doing? He leads the nation in passing. Dylan
Gabriel at Oregon won a ton of football games. And
Riley Leonard, who based upon what you saw a duke
you think we'd be talking about as a high pick,

went to Notre Dame. There were some ups and downs.
He was learning that style of offense for the first time.
All five of those guys will go at some point
between rounds three and five in my conversations with teams,
and every team has those five guys stacked differently, so
as much as the focus today is gonna be when
does Shador go? When does Milroe go? When to let
your degree is Tyler Shuck go. Keep in mind, if

somebody falls in love with Will Howard, somebody falls in
love with just the winner of Quinn You, or somebody
falls in love with Kyle McCord, you could see one
of those guys vaulting above some of those names we've
talked about a whole lot more.

My mom had four kids at home. I got to
grow through my whole childhood and high school and all that,

edge rusher. I think there's still some places in the
line that you could fill in. I do think running
back is probably going to be a need as well,
and this is a pretty good class for running backs,
I think.
