Good Morning Football.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
Let's start with the first round draft pick for the
Carolina Panthers, Tet McMillan. He's gonna be a guest later
today on Inside Training Camp Live. A great wide receiver.
He's a California kid. Hopefully he's getting along with great
with Bryce Young as quarterback. How is Teed McMillan adjusting to.
Speaker 4 (00:38):
Life in the pros?
Speaker 5 (00:39):
Well, Jamie, first of all, it is California love. They
both for South Cali kids, Teto McMillan and Bryce Young.
And it's interesting because Teto is the way he wants
to go by his name, and t Mac. He said
his mom didn't name him tet. His mom doesn't like tet,
so we're gonna go with Tetro or t mac. But
for him, the big thing that they are wanting to
see is can he be that big body receiver.
Speaker 6 (00:59):
They drafted him to be six.
Speaker 5 (01:01):
Four and a huge catch radies down the, field large,
hands large. Catchability AND i talked to their general, Manager Dan.
Morgan he, said he's been everything we anticipated when we drafted.
Him ted McMillan tedorrobe macmillan has talked about want to
improve his. Physicality he was honest saying the first few
days of, camp the DB's got the better of.
Speaker 6 (01:22):
Me they're pressing me on the. Field they're giving me
a little bit more THAN i.
Speaker 7 (01:26):
Was used to in.
Speaker 6 (01:26):
College and so the last week he has.
Speaker 5 (01:28):
Responded he has shown a little bit more physicality and
when he's got opened down the, field he's shown that inbreaking,
routability those hands that they really love about him And
Bryce young and him is starting to build that bond for.
Them and SO i can't wait to watch him in practice.
Today and, LOOK i know the regular season is still
about four weeks, away But i'm picturing That Jaguars panthers.
(01:49):
Game you Got Travis, hunter you Got tedorrove, McMillan top
two receivers in this. Draft they played each other in.
COLLEGE i can't wait to ask t mac how he
is going to get the better Of Travis. Hunter we're
already starting up here In, carolina rainy day, here BUT
i can't wait to watch the.
Speaker 8 (02:03):

the first two preseason, games and he will play On.
Friday Dave, canal as the head, coach said he's gonna
Play bryce more in this preseason than he did last,
preseason getting them more comfortable early in the. Season if
you remember last, Year Bryce young got benched after a
couple of games in the, season came, back played well
late in the. Season they want him to have a
(02:39):
full season out, there SO i expect him for a
driver to in the.
Speaker 6 (02:43):
Series And i'll.
Speaker 5 (02:43):
Tell you, what talking to people here In, Carolina Bryce
young has been a much more confident player than he
was at this time last. Year he's been a guy
that has taken command of this. Offense talking to their
general Manager Dan, morgan they, say this is his, team
this is his. Offense, yes he's not the most vocal,
guy but when he speaks, up people, listen and The
panthers are going to roll as far As Bryce young takes.
(03:04):
THEM i remember being here for the season finale game
and their Owner David tepper After Bryce young balled, out told,
ME i think we've got our, quarterback and that's the
feel For. Carolina we've got our quarterback and we're ready
to surprise some.
Speaker 4 (03:15):
People you've seen moments of.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
It, cam you're exactly right out Of Bryce, Young Dan
morgan And Dave canalis trying to look At teto McMillan's
up for the young.
Speaker 6 (03:26):
Guys you're gonna pose right?
Speaker 7 (03:28):
Right oh my, god.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
What's up for the young guys in THE Nfc. South
they're making sure we get their names. Right But John robinson's,
like It's jon And teta. McMillan are t mac?
Speaker 6 (03:39):
That?
Speaker 4 (03:39):
No, Ted i'm so. SORRY i said it like four
times Before campbell corrected. ME i got you no. More
you don't have to look at me like that.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
Anymore let's Go.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
Campbell thank you very, much you, Said, ted fix that
three and.
Speaker 4 (03:50):
Out, Kyle i'll start with. You first.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
Down year two is the new year five for, quarterbacks
and we applied this To Kayleb. Williams we've applied this
to other sophomore. Quarterbacks if that's the, case then what
does year three mark for the former first over all
pick in Brace young In.
Speaker 4 (04:05):
Carolina first of, all let's have.
Speaker 9 (04:07):
A conversation, quickly. GUYS i think we'll have opinions About
tetsro and. McMillan i'm trying to decide how we feel
about THE tmac nickname because we're just talking to different generations.
HERE T mack Is tracy McGrady and it was for,
years decades many different. Teams seminal basketball Player Vince carter's
cousin now involved in ownership and The buffalo bill so
(04:29):
he's part of THE nfl Team. Mack we run into this,
sometimes like you, know there was multiple LT's Lawrence taylor
And La Danian Thompson Lawrence, taylor people get. MAD i
don't like when people Call Aaron rodgers a. ROD a
rod played for The yankees and The rangers and The,
mariners so recycling. Nicknames i'm not ready to weigh in
(04:49):
on this, yet but it's maybe a good social call,
out especially If troll McMillan goes on to become a
really good player this, year he's.
Speaker 6 (04:56):
Gonna need a NICKNAME T.
Speaker 9 (04:57):
Mac i'm just picturing The Houston, Rockets, Sir Toronto. Raptors
how does the table feel about our Young panthers receiver
going by Team.
Speaker 10 (05:04):
MACK i think that's a great, POINT, Kb like you
want to have your own, brand you know WHAT i,
Mean like you want to be able to when you
say that one name, is you know exactly who you're talking.
About so to that, POINT, KB T, MAC i Think tracy.
Speaker 6 (05:15):
McGrady i think A rockets Basketball that's WHAT i think.
About so that's a great.
Speaker 7 (05:20):
POINT.
Speaker 6 (05:20):
Kb will how you. FEEL i, mean if.
Speaker 8 (05:22):
There's one place that it's, ALLOWED i mean it will Be.
Charlotte you know you already Have Carmelan. Anthony now you
Got Melo LaMelo. Ball so that was then they call Him.
Melo they Called Carmela. Melo so there's one place that it's,
Allowed charlotte would be the. Play So i'm okay with.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
It i'm just back at. THAT i feel so BALLID
i call Him teed McMillan like six. Times, Well cam goes,
no his mom doesn't even like. That, Like i'm so,
sorry missus. McMillan, now LIKE i feel shame with the tech,
EXPERIENCE i really, Apologize. Teto i'm gonna go with the
full the full, name the full, Experience tedoro macmillan until told, Otherwise,
Kyle SO i also am kind of tiptoying around T.
Speaker 9 (05:54):
Mac, Yeah i'm going to restrain from the Tea. Mac
but you know, WHAT i think the point of this
for all of. US i hope we're talking about this
player this, year BECAUSE i hope we're talking about The
panthers this.
Speaker 6 (06:03):
Year and this this, segment we're doing it. Live. Now
this is why we.
Speaker 9 (06:06):
Exist and someone, says Always, steelers always, cowboy blah, Blah
we're Talking. Panthers and here's the. Deal Bryce young really
interesting here last year that you may not even remember
because it was The, panthers and maybe you don't care
now or you didn't care at the. Time let's look
at Some Bryce young video and just remember what happened last.
Speaker 6 (06:23):
Year Bryce young with the new head Coach Dave, canalis
comes out and after two, games gets.
Speaker 9 (06:27):
Benched they sit him down because they got hammered by
The saints And. Chargers he sits for. Weeks Andy dalton is.
Plane Andy dalton injures his thumb in a car. Accident
that's the Reason bryce gets to go back.
Speaker 6 (06:42):
In and he was. Great Bryce young nearly beat The.
Chiefs he was a play.
Speaker 9 (06:47):
Away from beating The eagles by far the best two
teams in the, league and in the season, finale the
last time we've Seen Bryce, young he had five total.
Touchdowns The panthers scored forty four, points the most they've
scored in seven.
Speaker 6 (07:00):
Years it ended on this profound chrishet of good things are.
Speaker 9 (07:06):
Coming The panthers are going to be cool, again and
now they walk wade into THE Nfc, south a team
the division that IS i don't, Know, like is there
somebody that you absolutely can't pick? AGAINST i like The
bucks as well as the next. Guy but if you're
looking for a team as, SENDING i still don't feel
lot of teams are looking for The. Panthers patriots are
getting a lot of love because vrabel goes And Drake
(07:27):
may played okay last.
Speaker 6 (07:28):
Year there's very little on The.
Speaker 9 (07:29):
Panthers are they a chic wild card team or is
this just LIKE i don't, know THE Nfc south version
of The, cardinals where they have some good things going,
on but nobody.
Speaker 6 (07:38):
Is in love with them. Yet last year was very,
Odd but you can't.
Speaker 9 (07:41):
Really find an up and coming player whose season ended
more positively Than Bryce.
Speaker 6 (07:45):
Young's don't forget.
Speaker 10 (07:46):
IT i don't know if anybody saw the lower third
WALL kb was, talking but there was a stat that
said he threw for in the last three games seven,
touchdowns zero, interceptions that led THE.
Speaker 7 (07:56):
Nfl so when you.
Speaker 10 (07:57):
Talk about the, trajectory, like that's Where Bryce young was.
Going now in regards To Bryce, young there's a lot
of conversation About Caleb williams last year and his rookie
year being sacked the most by than any other quarterback
in THE. Nfl not a lot is being said About
Bryce young his rookie year being sacked the most in THE.
Nfl he has sacked sixty two, times which is AN nfl. High, like,
(08:18):
so this is a guy who had two different head,
coaches two different interim head, coaches so there's been a
lot of turnover for, him different. Systems he gets benched
after two, weeks WHICH kb said that he still comes
in there week, eight, performs continues to get, better his
confidence starts to, rise and then he starts to produce
in ways that starts to lead THE nfl in certain
stat call. Him so as far as this question like
(08:41):
what year.
Speaker 7 (08:41):
Is this year?
Speaker 10 (08:42):
TWO i don't know what year is going to be for,
him BUT i think it's going to be his best.
Year is his best year so far With Dave canalis in.
Company AND i got to Say Hunter renfro from all,
accounts has been unguardable in training camp so. Far so
there's so Many tetitoe, McMillan there's so many guys on
that team THAT i think they've done a great job
in Surrounding Bryce young with some really quality time over
(09:04):
there In.
Speaker 6 (09:05):
Carolina, yeah for, me year three is going to be
year two For Brece.
Speaker 8 (09:08):
YOUNG i look at his rookie year as survival, mode,
Right there's been so much going on in, there a
lot of drama amongst the, coaches the front, office. Whatsoever
so it was survival. Mode last year was truly his rookie.
Year and and you know with new coach and NEW
gm over, There Dan morgan De, canalis like that's where
he truly got to sit down and have a stable.
Situation had the pleasure of Watching Bryces young in high.
(09:28):
School and you know he was known as being the,
smallest being very, quiet but all he did was compete in.
Battle he used to duel With djungle when he was
At boscow and modern day they used to duel every single,
time and he ended up you, know obviously doing, well
then going To alabama again being too, small you.
Speaker 6 (09:44):
Know being very very.
Speaker 8 (09:46):
Quiet and his coordinator time Was bill, O'Brien WHO i
got to work with last year AT, bc and he
mentioned how he really Made bill O'Brien a better, coach
a more calm. Coach and then on the way HERE
i tchot a text to Coach canalis AND i was, like,
like what is it?
Speaker 7 (09:58):
About what is it About? Bryce like what what do
you see for this?
Speaker 8 (10:01):
Year and he said that, listen he's owning our, scheme
he's letting us expand our. Concepts he's leading every day
and he's keeping everyone in the building focused and excited
about this. Season So i'm, pumped, Man i'm stoke.
Speaker 6 (10:13):
For bryshaw this. Year.
Speaker 8 (10:15):
Yeah for, me this is year or, two and based
on how he finished multiple overtime, wins which is, HUGE
i think it's gonna be great for.
Speaker 4 (10:22):
HIM i am.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
Glad you kind of did that backstory on his personality
because so many people remember him about his prolific college
career and this Is Bryce young That i'm talking, about
but the personality that requires to be like the lead,
dog the head quarterback for AN nfl.
Speaker 4 (10:35):
Team it's very specific type of.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
Leader But bryce is kind of against the norm in that,
capacity AND i did cover him At. Alabama and just
a quick story years, ago WHEN i was AT, cbs
there's the PHOTO i did a. FEATURE i did a
feature With Jordan. Battle that's the guy in the middle
of those three. Players Jordan battle was talking about how
he's such a good basketball. Player SO i went AND
i played pig Against Jordan batle because they were Playing
(11:00):
arkansas that. Weekend, Well Jordan, BATTLE i, think got a
little nervous at THE cbs cameras showing, up and so
he went to the locker room and he woke up
a Sleeping Jamison williams and, said come with me to
play basketball with THE cbs. People bryce walks, in they
said you're coming, Too so the three of them show.
Up heaven help. Us we have three extra, microphones so
we miked all these players. Up and the fact that
now we're looking At, Lions bengals And panthers representation in
(11:21):
that one photo is remarkable to. Me but the point is,
This Bryce young did not shoot well that. Day he
did not play well that, day and as the quarterback At,
alabama A national championship winning. Quarterback that guy could have
just been, like, yeah this was, Fun i'm going to walk.
Speaker 6 (11:34):
Out he.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
Stayed he yucked it up for the, cameras he had
fun with his, Teammates and in that DAY i learned
so much About Bryce.
Speaker 4 (11:41):
Young but the problem is now is that he has to.
Speaker 3 (11:44):
Produce he has to, Succeed he has to become that. Dude,
otherwise if you are just that good, guy that nice,
guy that bright young man in THE, nfl something else.
Speaker 4 (11:52):
Has to transpire for.
Speaker 3 (11:54):
You SO i just had that memory looking At Bryce
young and thinking hearing about like all his time and his.
Personality he's a really good, guy but he's got to
produce with The panthers and his year, three.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
Good mon, football good moon.
Speaker 6 (12:19):
Football all, right Death.
Speaker 9 (12:22):

Seen is now adding another.
Speaker 9 (12:31):

football forest gump life where you cannot believe the, steps the,
stages and how it will not. Stop let's look back
on it and we'll end with a crescendo of today's.

is a huge. Prospect and then there is some questions
about you, know the.
Speaker 6 (13:02):
Gloves were really, unusual some questions about him in the.
Speaker 9 (13:05):
Draft he goes all the way down to the final
pick of the first round when the draft was still
In New York, city and it sounded like.
Speaker 10 (13:15):
This with the thirty second pick in the twenty FOURTEEN Nfl,
draft The Minnesota vikings Select Teddy bridgewater.
Speaker 6 (13:27):
Quarterback.
Speaker 11 (13:28):

process in the last ten.
Speaker 6 (13:39):
Years todd McShay just gushing about, him AND i love.
Speaker 9 (13:43):
It The Radio City Music hall drafts hit different AND
i love.
Speaker 6 (13:46):
That twenty fourteen he is a.
Speaker 9 (13:48):
Rookie of, course he comes off the bench Behind Matt
castle And christian ponder to.
Speaker 6 (13:53):
Play he's in this.
Speaker 9 (13:55):
Very, crazy memorable outdoor playoff game In, minnesota one of
the coldest games, ever which ended horrifically for The.
Speaker 6 (14:01):
Vikings but then we go to twenty.
Speaker 9 (14:03):
Sixteen rather before we do twenty, sixteen we thought we
would go to that For, teddy and yet just As
Good Morning football was starting in our first ever, season
we Covered Teddy bridgewater and training camp has one of
the most horrific injuries of this. Era for this, strange
little incidental thing in practice where he's running around and
just completely blows up his. Knee the reactions to it
(14:24):
from his teammates were. Horrific they were. Crying there was
reports that some of them were. Vomiting there was all
these really morbid accounts That Teddy bridgewater might be looking
at amputation and certainly potentially the end of his.
Speaker 6 (14:37):
Career it was a, horrible horrible.
Speaker 9 (14:39):
Thing for a time that felt very optimistic for The vikings,
fans but it wasn't even close to. Over it never.
Is For teddy fights his way all the way back
and after sitting out all of twenty, sixteen most of
twenty seventeen week, fifteen almost seven hundred days later For
Teddy bridgewater twenty seventeen, season this, Happens, Teddy i'm going
(14:59):
to get some.
Speaker 6 (14:59):
Snaps Jeddy bridgewater is walking onto the. Field what an
unbelievable story of a guy who completely destroyed his knee
but yet is able to come. Back pop the.
Speaker 10 (15:13):
Champagne The Minnesota vikings ARE Nfc north.
Speaker 9 (15:17):
Champions absolutely, awesome AND i WISH i could tell.
Speaker 6 (15:22):
You Then teddy spent the rest of his time With.
Minnesota it didn't work out that.
Speaker 9 (15:25):
Way twenty, eighteen, yes he was on The, jets he
signed with, him but right before the season, started before
he even could play a, game he was traded to The.
Speaker 6 (15:34):
Saints, okay he was first.
Speaker 9 (15:36):
Time the first start in nearly three years for The.
Saints the next, year twenty, nineteen The saints go five
and zero With.
Speaker 6 (15:44):
Teddy it's looking. Up but then twenty, twenty.
Speaker 9 (15:47):
He's a free agent signs a big three year.
Speaker 6 (15:49):
Deal with The Carolina. Panthers tampa wanted him to this.
Speaker 9 (15:52):
Year in, Fact jason light is on record of saying
he was the PLAN b If Tom brady didn't go To,
tampa they were gonna go To. Bridgewater twenty twenty, one
he goes to the, front Goes because The panthers Landed Sam,
darnold they Trade teddy To. Denver teddy has a career
high in passer. Rating looks like maybe he found a.
Home he's going to be A. Bronco, nope very next.
(16:13):
Year twenty twenty, two he's on The Miami. Dolphins Teddy
bridgewater starts two.
Speaker 6 (16:19):
Games for The, dolphins backing Up.
Speaker 9 (16:20):
Tua maybe he found a home, here not a. Chance
twenty twenty, three send him To.
Speaker 6 (16:25):
Detroit he is with.
Speaker 9 (16:27):
The Detroit, lions back With Dan, campbell who was an
assistant With New orleans back When teddy was A. Saint
so he retires after the twenty twenty three. Season, okay,
decides ain't gonna get out of.
Speaker 6 (16:40):
Here it's. Off it's been a great. Run i've been
a bunch of different.
Speaker 9 (16:42):
Teams twenty twenty, four he coaches his high school.
Speaker 6 (16:46):
Alma, Mater Miami, northwestern as the head. Coach, now this
was very.
Speaker 9 (16:50):
Interesting not only did they win a state championship in
his first. Year, recently over this, summer he gets suspended
and all the Allegations i'll call him that for paying
for uber rides and meals out of his own pocket
for the players versil pretty, Strange.
Speaker 6 (17:05):
But teddy is beloved In miami and.
Speaker 9 (17:07):
That's where he's gonna ride out his career and the
rest of his.
Speaker 6 (17:10):
Life oh, no it's not my, friends.
Speaker 9 (17:12):
Because we go to twenty twenty five to this, day
to this week and guess, What Teddy bridgewater is. Back
that's him with really long. Hair this was just taken
In bucks camp this. Year Teddy bee is On. Tampa
Remember tampa wanted to get him way back in twenty.
Twenty Now Jason light comes around five years later and
(17:33):
Brings Teddy bridgewater. In it is an incredible sight to
see there are only six first rounders from.
Speaker 6 (17:39):
The twenty fourteen. Draft this would be The Mike Evans.
Speaker 9 (17:41):
Draft only six who are still in the, league And
Teddy bridgewater is one of.
Speaker 6 (17:46):
Them it's an amazing. Thing you.
Speaker 9 (17:48):
Know there's that stat they throw around for venerable guys
Like Tom brady And Drew brees that they've beaten EVERY nfl.
TEAM i feel like at some Point Teddy bridgewater is
gonna play for EVERY nfl. Team it's him And Josh
johnson who just will not. Quit love That teddy's. Back
everybody likes, him everybody roots for. Him Sir Teddy bridgewise
(18:08):
been all those old teams and they all let him.
Go but you know what that is For Teddy, Bridgewater
it's just water under the, bridge And, teddy go.
Speaker 6 (18:14):
Out and get it this. Year we're all rooting for.
You one of the best stories in THE. Nfl just won't.
Stop it's.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
True kyle the makes every stop along the way and
seemingly an absolute.
Speaker 4 (18:23):
Beloved character no matter what happened to.
Speaker 3 (18:25):
Him that strange high school suspension was, odd but immediately
everyone Had teddy's. Side what was wild to me at
the time about The vikings thing was like what could
have been had that horrific injury not happened to? Him
AND i know that that rattles around In vikings fans
heads often to the point where when he returned finally
to practice and was healthy again for the short time
(18:46):
that he was In, minnesota he referenced back to, like
this was not just a woe is me that happened to?
Me he, said he almost had to have his leg
amputated because it was such a mangled. Injury and here
he is In bucks training camp at twenty twenty Five.
Manti this is the kind of story that we.
Speaker 10 (19:01):
Love, YEAH i Love. TEDDY i was actually a teammate
of His New. ORLEANS i remember when we found out
the news that we traded for. Him was at a
little dinner or a luncheon with some fans and some
donors and, sponsors and we get the news that were
Getting Teddy bridgewater well that year in twenty, nineteen The
choppa style song is blasting in the Super dome and
you See Teddy.
Speaker 6 (19:21):
Bridgewater doing his little thing where he's doing his dance
like he's on his.
Speaker 10 (19:24):
Little bike and he's he's that figure in the locker.
Speaker 6 (19:28):
Room and to be behind GUYS I drew and.
Speaker 10 (19:31):
The locker room, piece the cultural, piece the, support the,
energy the spirit that he brought every day to the,
team it's.
Speaker 6 (19:38):
Unmatched AND i.
Speaker 10 (19:39):
Know That Tampa bay is going to really love having
somebody like, him not only to back Up Baker, mayfield
but to help solidify the mentality that you want on your.
Team and So i'm happy For. Teddy Into KP's, POINT
i hope he is Like Forest cup, man just keep, going,
man just keep going as long as you.
Speaker 2 (19:54):
Can.
Speaker 8 (19:54):
Yeah and this goes back to the COMMENT i made
in terms of guys who don't last long in the
league because from a mental, perspective and he went through
an injury WHERE i would say ninety nine percent of
the players would have tap. Out in the fact that
he was able to overcome and do that and this is.
Great he's going to the situation where he gets to
stay In. Florida you look on the, staff his college head.
Speaker 7 (20:12):
Coach Charlie strong is the d line.
Speaker 8 (20:13):
Coach LaMonte david was his high school teammate At Miami,
northwestern and he's someone that he Adds he adds value
from an emotional. Perspective you know when you're bring a
guy like this and you don't want to bring toxicity
into the. Building you're going to bring a guy who
obviously was just a, coach a guy who is beloved
around the entire, league a guy that you can. Trust
and that's exactly what you want in your quarterback. Room
(20:35):
so for him to come, here, man and after from
not playing like, again.
Speaker 6 (20:39):
That's WHY i, said the backup quarterback is the.
Speaker 8 (20:41):
Reposition there is no other position where a dude can
sit out.
Speaker 7 (20:45):
That, long not play and here coming.
Speaker 8 (20:47):
Back but, again he is a person that is easily
one of the most LIKABLE nfl players in.
Speaker 9 (20:53):
History shout out to the last remaining first round og
is from the twenty fourteen, Draft Khalil, Mack Jake, Matthews Mike,
Evans Brandon, Cooks Jimmy, ward And teddy be currently on
Your Tampa Bay. Buccaneers go get Him, teddy you, know
with the shield on our breakfast.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
Table we take a lot of pride in, sometimes you
know the fact that The Commissioner Roger, Goodell, oh he's,
available he could come, by and we're, like that's, great
we'll have. Him but then we have our friend that
likes to stop by the, table and we know that
we can ask this man.
Speaker 4 (21:24):
Anything and that Is Jeff, biller who is.
Speaker 6 (21:27):
HERE i know it's my favorite. Thing we love.
Speaker 7 (21:31):
Having you your this so early.
Speaker 3 (21:33):
Here, Jeff, yes well that's it's like we ambrace it.
Now just so the good people of the league understand this.
Man you're THE evp Of Public affairs And, policy player
health And Safety initiatives for THE. Nfl so you come
in and As kyle likes to, say And i'm not
sure you're gonna like, this we can ask him.
Speaker 4 (21:48):
Anything jeff can talk about.
Speaker 3 (21:49):
Anything so let's go, yep, exactly we got a.
Speaker 4 (21:51):
Lot you, know we are a.
Speaker 3 (21:53):
Family it's it's coast to coast in THE nfl and
international games as.
Speaker 4 (21:56):
Well but the.
Speaker 3 (21:57):
Thing is about football is that when something happens to the,
league to the, game we all feel.
Speaker 4 (22:01):
It and it's been a really hard week and a.
Speaker 3 (22:03):
HALF a Terror bowl event happened at the league offices
Last monday In New York. City how's everybody doing in
the office building back In New york after the?
Speaker 7 (22:11):
Shooting, well thank you for raising.
Speaker 12 (22:13):
It it's BEEN i can't imagine a week like this
in my professional. Life AND i assume most of the
others of our colleagues across THE nfl, family but most
certainly In New. York most, importantly our colleague who is
injured is recovering and everybody is optimistic, there which is most.
Important but it was a really traumatic event and all
(22:35):
of our, colleagues the employees who work On Park avenue
are dealing with.
Speaker 7 (22:39):
It and there's.
Speaker 12 (22:42):
No, blueprint, right you, know everybody when you talk to
your fellow, employees are groups whoever were checking in. With
some people seem, okay and that's great and others, not
and sometimes trauma affects people differently at a different. Times
so it is a really tough environment for our. Family
and at the same, time they're working right we put
on The hall Of fame. Game i'm sure we'll get
(23:03):
to the announcement from the other day. Shortly the deal
teams were working on this stuff and we've got a
season to come coming up in preseason games, tonight and
so the ability for our team to be resilient enough
to deal with their emotions and then work as professional
and impressively as they. Do we all know it's it's
incredible to, comprehend but there are people at the bottom
of this union and it's a really hard.
Speaker 6 (23:26):
Time, yeah our thoughts and prayers are with.
Speaker 7 (23:27):
Our family over there In New.
Speaker 10 (23:29):
York and you, know but you meant you mentioned that
the game does continue and they're already going back to.
Work we do have a preseason game. Tonight can you
please explain for the viewers that changes to the dynamic
kickoff rule that they may see a little bit of difference.
Speaker 12 (23:43):
There what we're doing is we're making it more dynamic
what oh, okay more dynamic, kickoff.
Speaker 7 (23:48):
Man that's what we're doing.
Speaker 12 (23:53):
Right so if you remember going into last year before
we made the substantial, change everybody saw the. Difference the
reason that we were doing that was, one nobody was
returning the kick. Anymore we were down to like one
in five kicks, Returned so it was a Ceremonial. Two
the world in WHICH i live a lot of my
career is it had four times the rate of concussions
of a play from, scrimmage which is just.
Speaker 7 (24:12):
Crazy the spaces and the speeds.
Speaker 12 (24:14):
Involved you guys get to such velocities and so the
contacts were really. Substantial so The Special team's, coaches over
the course of a long period of, time figured out
better ways to do, that to eliminate some of the
space and therefore the. Speed last year was the first
time we saw. It the return rate was about one in,
three so much higher than, before but a good. Start
we saw the injury rate drop down to more or
(24:36):
less when a runner pass play is so we got that,
right AND i think it allowed the coaches and the
competition committee to, say, okay let's take another step, forward
and so as an incentive to have more kicks return
instead of the ball coming out to the thirty on a.
Speaker 7 (24:48):
Touchback we're going.
Speaker 12 (24:49):
To move to the thirty, five so a team has
every incentive to kick it in the landing zone as
a post in the end, zone because do you want to.
Speaker 7 (24:56):
Give up that much.
Speaker 12 (24:57):
Yardage we saw points increase a little bit last. Year
we saw drive starts and increase a little.
Speaker 6 (25:01):
Bit last.
Speaker 12 (25:01):
Year we saw more, touchdowns more field, goals which is
all great and if we can do a little bit
more of. That AND i had an exciting play to
the game because the kickoff is then that's.
Speaker 7 (25:09):
What the idea was here behind the dynamic.
Speaker 6 (25:11):
Kickoffs that's.
Speaker 7 (25:12):
COOL i like.
Speaker 6 (25:12):
THAT i love. It.
Speaker 9 (25:13):
Jeff let's talk about something else, dynamic and the word
is hawk.
Speaker 6 (25:17):
Guy i'm right, here hawk. Guy it could be From.
Speaker 9 (25:20):
Iowa it could be an, avenger or it could Be
sony's technology with which to measure first.
Speaker 6 (25:27):
Downs it's, here it's. Real tell us all about. It.
Speaker 12 (25:31):
Now the questions could you bring more drama to figuring
out whether there's a first?
Speaker 7 (25:34):
Down and that's what we're attempting to.
Speaker 12 (25:36):
Do so you, know we've had the change for a
thousand years and the chains are still going to be
there as a. Backup but what this does is this
visual line to gain, technology which you're seeing on the screen.
Speaker 7 (25:45):
Now the referee will still spot the.
Speaker 12 (25:48):
Ball we'll still spot the, ball but then instead of
the chain's coming, out we'll be able to do it
through the optical tracking system to see whether or not
you've reached the line to. Gain so you'll have that
dramatic moment where you see whether or not the ball
gets to the yellow line or it, doesn't and.
Speaker 7 (26:02):
We'll still have the. Change there's a backup and we'll
still have the change.
Speaker 12 (26:04):
There so the so the coaches and the players, know
you know where the first down.
Speaker 7 (26:07):
Is but we'll see this for the first.
Speaker 12 (26:09):
Time we saw it in the preseason in The hall
Of fame, game and we'll see it again tonight and
throughout the rest of the regular.
Speaker 10 (26:15):
Season so how are we increasing the Dramatics because we
talked about on this, show there's a there's a moment
in football That i'm going to miss where they they
drag out that chain and as they put it down
and you realize that it's, short the defense runs.
Speaker 6 (26:27):
Off how are we gonna kind of intensify?
Speaker 7 (26:29):
Already we need fair.
Speaker 12 (26:33):
ENOUGH i think we need a bunch of creative minds
to get into the lab and figure this. Out but
you're going to see the yellow, line you're going to
see the, ball and you're going to be. Watching you,
know if you watch the tennis, match if anybody same general.
Speaker 6 (26:44):
Idea got, it does it get?
Speaker 7 (26:46):
There does it not get? There how much did you
get there By that's what we're going to be looking.
Speaker 6 (26:49):
AT i like.
Speaker 8 (26:50):
That so so players are are very in particular about their.
HELMET i for, one was a, Pain LIKE i actually
sat out of practice in college BECAUSE i had to
switch to a new model helmet AND i did not want.
To SO i eventually gave. IN i had To tom.
O'Bryant so how are they adapted to the newer and
safer the helmets.
Speaker 12 (27:08):
Issue, yeah it's been a revolution in terms of the
technology and the safety that's coming with these.
Speaker 7 (27:14):
Helmets.
Speaker 12 (27:15):
Now kyle AND i have talked about this a, bunch
and we now have data from on field with the newer.
Helmets so if you're wearing one of the, best best
best helmets that are out, there your likelihood of getting
a concussion is nearly thirty percent less than somebody who's
wearing an older. Helmet that's a pretty good selling point, Too, yeah,
right you're going to Want and some of those helmets
That i'm talking about are made specifically for the position.
(27:35):
Group you're not for corners, yet but for offensive, linemen for,
quarterbacks and so you can say to a, player if
you wear this as opposed to, this data shows that
you're going to be safer on, field which is fantastic
because all the technology that's gone into it and all
the engineering that's gone into it all the years that
we've worked on it has led the companies to build
these products with more better things to.
Speaker 7 (27:54):
Come the problem is not a, problem.
Speaker 12 (27:56):
But we're working closely with The Players association to, say
help us educate players so they make a choice that's
really informed for. Themselves and there's a lot of players
to your, point who are, like, WELL i just changed
helmets a couple years, AGO i feel good in, this
OR i really like, this and we're, saying, okay just
give it a, breath go do. This, so as an,
example helmets that used to be the best helmets four
or five years ago at the top of our chart
are now. Banned that's how much helmets have changed over the.
Speaker 7 (28:19):
Years and that's asking.
Speaker 12 (28:20):
A ton of the players to be willing and open
to trying something new. Quickly but the early returns for
the season and moving a lot of players of those
best helmets is that players are making those.
Speaker 7 (28:29):
CHOICES i feel. Ancient all my helmets are in my.
Office you're kidding Those, No, Nope.
Speaker 9 (28:37):
Jeff every time we talk, helmets one of those players
that's always been at the forefront of changing to the
newest helmets Is George. Kittle he's out, There he's got
a modern helmet and it makes he makes it look
cool well as it so. Happens George kittle also became
part of the conversation about another issue live on our
network in training. Camp kittle At Niners camp intervened and
(28:57):
brought up a subject that has made headlines that we'll talk.
Speaker 6 (29:00):
About but here's the clip our.
Speaker 10 (29:02):
Team at a memo today that's smelling salts and own
your packets were made illegal in THE.
Speaker 6 (29:06):
Nfl, Wow And i've been distraught all. Day.
Speaker 7 (29:08):
Illegal.
Speaker 6 (29:09):
Yeah he even said he's not practicing. ANYMORE i considered.
Speaker 10 (29:12):
Retirement, Yeah George, Kittle, yeah you got to figure out
about the middle ground, here.
Speaker 6 (29:18):
Guys somebody helped me.
Speaker 7 (29:19):
Out somebody come up with a good idea send a.
Speaker 6 (29:22):
Grievances, yeah that's ALL i had to get out. There
i'll get that.
Speaker 9 (29:24):
Off it is, Okay. Jeff so there was confusion that were.
Reactions clean us. Up what is THE nfl stance on
smelling salts in twenty twenty?
Speaker 12 (29:34):
Five, FIRST i love the spontaneity of live. Television that
was a great, clip so. Fantastic The food And Drug
administration and our medical committee that deal with neurological issues
came out and, said, hey, look smelling salts can mask
the symptoms of a. Concussion so if a player has
been hit and is and whether he wants to or
(29:57):
maybe it's happenstance takes smelling, salts you may not be
able to tell whether or not he's actually hurt from
a concussive standpoint and. Diagnosis so best practices are not
to allow the doctors or trainers to give smelling salts
to the players in their. Circumstances, hence Doctor allen sill
is our chief medical officer sending that memo.
Speaker 7 (30:13):
Up so that's where we. Are that's the state of the.
Speaker 12 (30:16):
Science, kyle your history on smelling, salts if you want
to share it with all.
Speaker 11 (30:20):
Of, US i please do, Yes Jeff, Kevin Jeff.
Speaker 9 (30:24):
Listen in the nineties they were everywhere, athletically, recreationally all
these other. Things there canna be a Whole wikipedia page
about my personal. History But, JEFF i have a question
for you on LIVE. Tv as someone who represents, safety
do you think it's really safe to have a job
title that is that?
Speaker 6 (30:42):
Long we can't even fit this on the bottom of the.
Screen what are we doing?
Speaker 9 (30:47):
Here it's the WORD evp Of Public affairs super. CALIFIED
i look at some of the other Execs Christine DORFLER,
Cfo Roger, Goodell, Commissioner Jeff, miller blah blah blah. Blah
what are we doing?
Speaker 12 (30:59):
Here both better professionals AND i will ever.
Speaker 7 (31:02):
Know so let's go with. That come up with something.
BETTER i don't really care what it.
Speaker 4 (31:05):
Is, well we love you for the entire.
Speaker 3 (31:09):
Title i'm supposed to, wrap BUT i just want to
give us thirty seconds quickly on the reason why you
guys are honestly in town is the media deal that
went Down and if you want thirty seconds to encapsulate
what you guys are feeling from your side of.
Speaker 12 (31:21):
The, OFFICE i think the biggest part here is that
our fans are going to get more, football, yeah on
more platforms than ever. Before the tie With, disney the worldwide,
leader and what it can infuse intil what we're doing
both in digital for the network as well as linear
distribution of things like Red zone is going to be
heaven FOR nfl.
Speaker 7 (31:39):
Fans and that's always been the.
Speaker 12 (31:40):
Goal how many fans can we, reach how many fans
can we offer our content the best game in the
world and all of your coverage around, It and this
is going to help in that. Regard and so that's
great strategically and it's great for our fans on the
day to.
Speaker 3 (31:51):
Day we as a collective IN la we're part of
a meeting yesterday where the intricacies were explained to us
a little bit. Better AND i can echo What jeff
just said and how you explained, it and you know what,
ELSE i will echo your title once.
Speaker 4 (32:00):
Again it is the.
Speaker 3 (32:01):
NFL's executive vice president Of Public affairs And policy and
player health and Safety. Initiatives, jeff don't let him take
it from. You it's a very prideful point for. You
it's it's just like Keep Kyle brant in.
Speaker 6 (32:12):
The box up. There, yeah that's.
Speaker 9 (32:15):
Smart keeping The New YORK i need to do a
smelling salt just to prot The.
Speaker 11 (32:22):
Kyle Good mon.
Speaker 3 (32:35):
FOOTBALL i like the personalities of the quarterbacks that we're
going to talk about in this. Segment we're going to
start with a rookie In New. York Jackson dart is
calling His giants preseason debut quote the start of a,
dream and he'll have his family and attendance when The
giants take on The. Bills another friendly face for the
rookie has Become bills Quarterback Josh, allen Who Jackson dart
(32:57):
has been getting advice.
Speaker 13 (32:58):
From, YEAH i talked To josh like a few days
AFTER i got, drafted and he's been somebody Who i've you,
know really looked up to and since coming, here just you,
know watching a ton of his tape and how he
was able to, operate you, Know Coach davis's system and.
Whatnot so it's going to, be you, know kind of
a surreal feeling to, uh you, know be on the
same field with.
Speaker 4 (33:18):
Him this feels like a bigger deal than he's making it. Sound,
well what do you make.
Speaker 3 (33:23):
Of Jackson dart hearing From Josh allen and keeping the connection.
Speaker 6 (33:26):
Up, yeah this this is a very very big.
Speaker 8 (33:28):
Deal and this this lets me know that during the
quarterback evaluation process When Dave ball was interviewing or going
through this process With Jackson, dark he saw a lot
of things In Josh allen that he sees In Jackson,
dark especially everyone he evaluated WHEN i see them drafting was, like,
okay he definitely sat that there were probably questions or
certain things he's did With Josh allen when he came
(33:49):
out a rookie that he did With Jackson. Dark this
is this is a huge deal and this isn't this
is anything.
Speaker 6 (33:54):
CRAZY i mean you.
Speaker 8 (33:55):
See it now With you've Got Greg olson's tight, end you,
right a nice mentorship program, there you got Von miller's you,
Know Sack, summit another mentorship type of.
Speaker 6 (34:03):
Deal but, this this is how it.
Speaker 8 (34:04):
Is this is what this is what you want for
your young quarterback to have somebody and unfortunately this situation
is somebody on a different team you know in this.
Speaker 7 (34:13):
Case SO i love.
Speaker 8 (34:14):
This This this is a huge deal because you want
to be able to as a, rookie be able to
someone you can, study someone you can, watch someone you
can look at and have direct contact. With so this is,
Great this is something exactly that's going to help.
Speaker 7 (34:25):
Him, YEAH i.
Speaker 6 (34:26):
Think it's a big. DEAL i do think it's a big.
Speaker 13 (34:28):
Deal.
Speaker 10 (34:28):
Now WHEN i listened To Jackson dart in that little,
interview he said that he Called Josh allen shortly after
he got. Drafted So i'm assuming that after he gets
drafted Either brian Day.
Speaker 7 (34:39):
Ball i'm assuming As brian.
Speaker 10 (34:40):
Day ball, says, hey call this, guy Call Josh, allen
BECAUSE i don't think anybody That Jackson dart knew before
getting drafted to The giants Had Josh allen's number besides
that man right there Or Joe.
Speaker 6 (34:52):
Shane so that that tells me one.
Speaker 10 (34:54):
Thing The giants had a type and they're looking for that,
type and when they met With Jackson dart that he
was their type and he brought them. In they brought
him in having an understanding and a plan as to
what they wanted to. Do, obviously all the conversation in
the past few years with The giants And Joe shane
And brian Da ball and their history with The Buffalo
bills is when are.
Speaker 7 (35:13):
They going to get their?
Speaker 6 (35:14):
Guy when are they going to get Their Josh? Allen
how are they going to find.
Speaker 10 (35:17):
That, Well Jackson dark gets, drafted and for me to know,
now for us to know now that the first person
that he one of the first people that he talked
to Was Josh. Allen tells me exactly where The giants
are trying to go with their team this, Year, Kyle.
Speaker 9 (35:30):
Well, LISTEN i Think dabell doesn't get enough credit for
his role in the ascension Of Josh. Allen he's hugely
responsible in a lot of ways from taking this crazy
young maniac quarterback out Of wyoming and making him into
the LEAGUE mvp. Eventually like he was a very very
critical figure in Teaching josh the game and Coaching, josh
And josh would have made it either. Way BUT i
think the dable part of his legacy Is Josh.
Speaker 6 (35:53):
Allen and it's. Cool listen the quarterback call.
Speaker 9 (35:55):
Thing a lot of times you see if they played
at the same college, program they both work With Jordan
palmer or somebody like. THAT i don't see that connective
tissue here other Than, dabells, like you played under this.
Speaker 6 (36:05):
Guy he's my head.
Speaker 9 (36:06):
Coach i'm gonna call You Josh, allen incredibly magnanimous, superstar
probably gushed about him and gave him.
Speaker 6 (36:11):
Help it's not like their division rivals or something like.
Speaker 9 (36:13):
THAT i guess the only problem is For Jackson dart is,
LIKE i don't know if you can do some of
the things That Josh allen can. Do, like no one
can really do those. Things So Josh allen be, like,
yeah and With dave, system just drop back and if nobody's,
open just run out of the, pocket leap over a
six foot five.
Speaker 6 (36:29):
Linebacker that's WHAT i.
Speaker 9 (36:30):
Do, like don't do. That don't do. That likes go
buy his advice with the passing and the. Relationship But
josh all could give out advice to a lot of,
people a lot of people cannot follow that. Advice is
up To Jackson darts to then make it his own
because nobody has the skill set of.
Speaker 6 (36:43):
Seventeen it's a good.
Speaker 3 (36:45):
Point that is a specific request to be done by a. Quarterback,
well we'll see how this pans out for The giants
and The bills this. Weekend moving, On LIKE i, said
it's a good group of personalities in the quarterbacks we
are talking about in this, segment we're looking At Baker
mayfield And Tampa Bay. Buccaneers yesterday we talked about How
Mike rabol jumped in to break up a fight at joint. Practice,
Well Baker mayfield is also not afraid to get. Physical
(37:07):
he was involved in a scrum at practice with The.
Speaker 11 (37:09):
Titans, yeah and.
Speaker 6 (37:13):
Our group's not going to back.
Speaker 7 (37:14):
Down you guys shoving people late in the. Back we're
not going to back.
Speaker 13 (37:18):
Down we're not going to start it because we're not,
stupid but.
Speaker 7 (37:22):
We'll finish.
Speaker 3 (37:23):
It for you as a quarterback to stay out of,
THAT i, Mean tristan was coming out.
Speaker 13 (37:27):
There he needs to stay on the sideline with those.
Speaker 7 (37:30):
Crutches, YEAH i was in the middle of. It it's.
Speaker 4 (37:34):
Fun we're not going.
Speaker 3 (37:36):
To start it because we're not, stupid but we will finish.
Speaker 4 (37:40):
It will you're giggling with?
Speaker 3 (37:41):
Glee, Honestly Baker mayfield with the flat brimmed hat and
the casual stance about the engagement of physicality in, practice
Is Baker mayfield the ultimate bro of THE?
Speaker 9 (37:52):
Nfl.
Speaker 6 (37:52):
Listen first of.
Speaker 8 (37:53):
All he has that daa detective nineteen eighties. Mustache, yeah
answering that, question But baker is definitely the ultimate.
Speaker 6 (38:01):
Bro going on way back To.
Speaker 7 (38:02):
Oklahoma planting the flat.
Speaker 8 (38:04):
Dancing in the middle of the. Group you, KNOW i
love this And i'm gonna.
Speaker 6 (38:08):
Go i'm gonna.
Speaker 8 (38:09):
Go last year to the wildcard game versus The commanders
With Baker mayfield decided to go right after first Ballot
hall Of Famer Bobby. Wagner it runs him. Rader you
see him side of, scramble lower the, show the, Ooh,
bobby sit. Down, okay first Ballot hall Of. Famer that's
what he. Does he goes right after. Him but this
(38:30):
is the guy who says the. Tone this is why
wherever he, went he found. Away he transferred From Texas,
tech goes To, oklahoma finds a way ends when The
heisman goes first round, pick number one overall draft, pick
and wherever he's, gone he has affected the.
Speaker 6 (38:44):
TEAM i remember when he came out for the.
Speaker 8 (38:46):
DRAFT i talked To John, dorsey and what helped decide
in fact in drafting him is that he had this self,
efficacy like he was able to uplift everybody in the
room no matter where he. Was and so right, then
WHEN i have my quarterback in a playoff, game decide to.
Scramble you Look Bobby wagner in the eyes and you
know he's the first Ball hall Of, famer AND i
said to lower my. Shoulder, yes the Ultimate bro from
(39:07):
that play.
Speaker 10 (39:07):
Alone, now when we're talking about this, question is he
the Ultimate? Bro i'm not going to say he's the Ultimate,
bro But i'm Gonna i'm gonna pull a football. Term
he's first Team all broe because there's some guys in THE. Nfl,
OKAY i made a Mount, rushmore thanks, sir to our production.
TEAM i made A Mountain rushmer of the Team All. Bro,
okay we got we Got baker in, There George, kiddle
(39:31):
we Got, snowman a friend of our, show And jordan My.
Alatta that's my first Team All Bro Mount. RUSHMORE i
would love to know what you guys think if you're at.
Home so who's your for now re? Member Mount rushmore
is only a. Four, okay don't send me lists of
ten to. TWELVE i just need. Four but that's my
first Team All. Bro i'm not saying that. Period, well
(39:54):
they're the guy that they they're the. Identity if you
look at these these these, players they're the identity of that.
Speaker 6 (40:00):
