Speaker 1 (00:04):
Good Morning Football is the production of the NFL in
partnership with iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Good Morning Football.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
Welcome in everybody, GMFB.
Speaker 4 (00:26):
Guess what we have some breaking news to start the show.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Shall we just get right into it? The lead Rock Sure.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Here we are.
Speaker 4 (00:33):
From NFL network insider Ian Rappaport tweeting that the Niners
and star tight end George Kittle have agreed to a
new contract extension, making him the highest paid tight end
in the league, because that's what happens with these things.
The extension is for four years, worth more than seventy
eight million dollars. So at this point that feels like
Rock Party will be the next shoe to drop. But Kyle,
(00:56):
what do you think of Kittle's new deal?
Speaker 5 (00:58):
Well, obviously I'm happy for him. I like where the
Niners are going. But I just think right now, as
we're still in the week after the draft, we have
to sit here and really put it through the lens.
Speaker 6 (01:06):
Of the NFL Draft.
Speaker 5 (01:07):
I want everyone to remember that George Kittle, who's now
thirty one, who just signed a massive extension and will
one day retire as an all time great. Forty nine
er was a fifth round pick in the twenty seventeen draft,
George Kittle was the ninth tight end selected. There was
no conversation about him. The draft that year for the
Niners was all about Ruben Foster and Solomon Thomas, and
(01:31):
then they grabbed this guy as an afterthought in the
fifth round. No one cared, no one was terribly interested
out Niners fans, And this is how it works. Now
we're about nine years later and he is a household name.
He is a star, He is a massive contract guys.
Speaker 6 (01:45):
I even went back and looked.
Speaker 5 (01:47):
I looked at the Bleacher Report review of this draft
and they gave the Kittle pick a B plus. He's raw,
he's not the best route runner, but his combination of
speed blah blah blah.
Speaker 6 (01:57):
I just want you.
Speaker 5 (01:58):
Understand that the fact that George Kittle is now where
he is from where he started, it would be like
in this year's draft, pick one sixty three, Mitchell Evans,
tight end from Notre Dame nine years from now, is
a massive star who's in Marvel commercials and has huge deals.
Like you don't think about these types of guys after
(02:19):
the draft.
Speaker 6 (02:20):
You didn't think about Kittle after his draft.
Speaker 5 (02:22):
It was all like Wow, the Bears really drafted Trubisky,
and the Chiefs moved from Patrick Mahomes from Texas Tech
what and then here we are and then the Niners
have Kittle. I know Kitt a.
Speaker 6 (02:32):
Little bit personally.
Speaker 5 (02:33):
Is one of my favorite athletes I've ever met. He
has fun, he is contagious, and all his energy it
is the real deal. And he is really, in a
lot of ways, the face of the San Francisco forty
nine ers. I'm very happy for him, happy for them.
Don't forget, kids, it's not when you get drafted, it
is what you do when you get there, and Kittle
is living proof of that.
Speaker 7 (02:50):
Yeah, it's not a matter of when you get drafted,
but it also matters where you get drafted. So again, guys,
this is a perfect fit. That guy deserves everything that's
coming from He deserves every penny because he's one of
those cultural pieces for the Sepis.
Speaker 6 (03:04):
Forty nine ers.
Speaker 7 (03:05):
Ever since he got there, not only did his yards
have to catch ability, but his just energy has smiling.
How many times have we seen this guy pancake of
d Lineman or pancake a running.
Speaker 6 (03:13):
Back and then he's on his back with a smile
on his face.
Speaker 7 (03:16):
In the middle of a sixty minute football game. You
just watch how he plays this game. To all the
young people out there that want to play in the
National Football League as a tight end, watch George Kittle,
and if you watch him, and if you can duplicate
him just a little bit, you may just get this
type of payday. So again to Kyle's point, it's not
about when you go, it's about where you go. And
what a great fit George Kittle has been for the
(03:37):
San Francisco forty nine ers.
Speaker 8 (03:39):
Mantik, I'm right with you, guys, big time culture fit.
I really love this as an organizational move. You got
a first class organization with the San Francisco forty nine
ers making a first class move. This all but secures
George Kittle as retiring in the Golden Red. He literally
is the epitome of what it means to be a
forty nineer. You talked about his energy, the way he
just empedomizes what it needs to be a.
Speaker 9 (03:59):
Forty dollar blocking guy's physicality, and this also obviously is
going to have to be a big time I'm.
Speaker 8 (04:04):
Concerned, not concerned, a big time priority of really signing
brock Party and making sure that he gets tied up
for long term.
Speaker 4 (04:11):
Yeah, he's coming off back to back one thousand yard seasons.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
It's kind of crazy.
Speaker 4 (04:15):
In just eight seasons, he's third all time in career
receiving yards, third in career receptions, eighth in career touchdown receptions.
Just in terms of franchise history there and there have
been so many incredible pass catchers to go through that organization,
even tight ends you think about Vernon Davis too. I mean,
he was just such an icon at that time. So
(04:35):
congratulations to Kittle for getting the bag.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
That's great.
Speaker 4 (04:38):
Now, we can't wait to see what happens with brock
Purty next as we turn to the Steelers though, as
our next topic. The Steelers, they selected Ohio State quarterback
Will Howard in the sixth round on Saturday. He joins
a quarterback room then includes Mason Rudolph and Skyler Thompson.
Of course, Mike Tomlin and company sound like they're open
to signing Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
Sounds like they're waiting for that to happen.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
But NFL Network insider Ian Rappaport mentioned another possibility Monday
on the Pat McAfee show to the.
Speaker 10 (05:08):
Kirk Cousins thing I was, you know, kind of keeping
track of and trying to figure out, like, all right,
if he leaves Atlanta, where might he go? And I
think if your good friend Aaron Rodgers does not go
to Pittsburgh, I think that would be a possibility.
Speaker 6 (05:22):
But it feels to me like.
Speaker 10 (05:23):
The other possibilities kind of don't exist. Like people talked
about the Vikings, okay, where they traded for Sam Howe.
People talked about maybe the Browns Okay, well they I
don't know if you guys know this, but they drafted
a second quarterback in Shador Sanders, and so like, the
more this goes, I kind of think he's going to
be the falcons backup, which like there's no source on that,
because the Falcons have told us this from the beginning.
(05:44):
It's just we kind of like just didn't believe them.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
It feels like, well, I feel like we didn't believe
them because of the money that was involved in the
Kirk Cousins situation, and then they were so quick to
turn away from him, even though you had a first
rounder waiting on the bench, and you know that that
always happens, but for the money.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
It was just a very unique situation. In atlant So, Kyle,
what do you make of the Steelers quarterback situation at
this point?
Speaker 4 (06:08):
Because we know that Mike Tomlin does not like to
deal in hypotheticals, but it feels like their quarterback room
is one giant hypothetical right now.
Speaker 5 (06:15):
They're getting somebody listen, you can't start the season with
that room. Mason Rudolph is an old friend. He's been around,
he went away, he came back.
Speaker 6 (06:22):
I get it.
Speaker 5 (06:23):
We all like Will Howard, but you're not. He's not
starting Week one.
Speaker 6 (06:26):
And that's this question.
Speaker 5 (06:27):
The Steelers, who are in the playoff virtually every year,
who is their quarterback in the first snap of the
season when they come.
Speaker 6 (06:32):
Out to play.
Speaker 5 (06:33):
I feel like the fact that they went into the
draft and did not draft someone to start in any
of the first few rounds.
Speaker 6 (06:41):
Means you can't start a season with that room.
Speaker 5 (06:43):
And I mean, respectfully to those guys that Steelers are
trying to win the AFC this year. That's the goal.
So the Cousins thing is interesting. I never thought Cousins
was going to go to Cleveland. I still don't think
he's going to go to Cleveland because he gets to
basically decide what this do not trade. And then there's
obviously the Rogers thing. The last time we heard from Rogers,
really the only time we heard from he was talking
to McAfee, and he was just emotional and a little
(07:05):
bit scattered and all over the place and citing things
like personal life and inner circle and going through a lot,
so respectfully, that.
Speaker 6 (07:12):
Sounded like kind of a mess. I think either the
Steelers know.
Speaker 5 (07:15):
That eventually Rodgers is going to get there, or they
do have something in the works with someone like Cousins.
But you can't tell me they don't have a plan
and they don't have some sort of ace in the hole.
Because Mike Tomlin case played with a lot of quarterbacks.
Speaker 6 (07:30):
I don't think the twenty twenty.
Speaker 5 (07:31):
Five Pittsburgh Steelers are going to say to their fan
base or their locker room guys, none of that stuff
worked out. We will rally behind Mason Rudolph. Everybody in
that organization knows what Mason Rudolph is and isn't. He's
a backup quarterback. I think they have a plan, and
I think either they know Rogers is coming or they're
working on something else, because they didn't do anything in
the draft and suggest you we're going to get a
(07:52):
quarterback for this season.
Speaker 7 (07:53):
Yeah, they didn't do anything in the draft on a KB.
And I think there were two teams that after their
first round it revealed their quarterback plan at least how
they see their quarterback situation. It was a Cleveland Browns
and it was the Pittsburgh Steelers. So when I look
at the Pittsburgh Steelers, you can look at the three
quarterbacks that they have on that roster. We saw a
Mason Rudolph Scholar, Thompson, Will Howard. I like to speak
(08:13):
on Will Howard a little bit. If he is how
you mentioned KB, if he is your starter on day one,
I think that Will Howard is in a pretty good situation.
You think about Arthur Smith in his scheme. It's a
run first, run heavy approach for a quarterback, especially a
rookie quarterback, that gives you time to kind of develop,
That gives you time to kind of get comfortable. In
(08:34):
this NFL game, hand the ball off to your running
back and then play action pass. You can find George
Pickens or DK Metcalf or Pat fryar Mouth in the flat,
whatever you need to do.
Speaker 6 (08:44):
And I watched this National.
Speaker 7 (08:46):
Championship and yes I didn't like what he was doing,
but look, play action pass, find a deep over out,
play action pass, find the guys.
Speaker 6 (08:54):
In the in the flat.
Speaker 7 (08:56):
I thought that he was very very good at knowing
when to scramble and when not to when to scramble
to make a run, and when scramble to make a pass.
He did it the whole entire first half against Notre Dame.
And I think that if he is your starter Pittsburgh
Steelers on day one, I think you have a good
chance of taking this thing to places that it hasn't
(09:17):
been in a while, just because of his skill set,
but then also because he's coming from Ohio State who
just want the national championship and they know something about winning.
And I think that can lead over and bleed over
into the rest.
Speaker 6 (09:29):
Of your locker room.
Speaker 8 (09:31):
Yeah, this onie hurts my soul. And I say that
because I'm a Mike Tomlin guy. I love Mike Tomlin.
I love what he does. I think there's no better
coach in the NFL that does more with their talent
and the presumption that the media has for expectations.
Speaker 9 (09:45):
Right, but this feels like a revolving door.
Speaker 8 (09:48):
Every last five season We've been talking about the Steelers
problems with quarterback. How can they get over the hump?
How can they actually win some playoff games now? And
it feels like to me, you're almost wasting the prime
of TJ.
Speaker 6 (09:59):
Watt.
Speaker 8 (10:00):
You're wasting the extensive elite plays of Cam Hayward. Who's
a guy who's aging up. Now make it fits past.
You got these stars at the defensive level. And I'll
tell you what, man, the Aaron Rodgerson situation feels like,
you know, you go to the you go to the
dance with a girl.
Speaker 9 (10:13):
She's super hot. Now you have some options.
Speaker 8 (10:17):
They were stable, you know, you get some knas you know, mentaw,
that's a good looking girl.
Speaker 9 (10:21):
You guys, she stayed with peace of mind, but she
went the hot smoke.
Speaker 8 (10:25):
With the hot smoke, don't even want to go to
the dance. You don't even know if she wants to
be at the dance. And that's how this whole Aaron
Rodgers situation feels like to me. And he's worthy of it,
first first ballot Hall of Famer, he deserves, he has
the right to say. And he told them straight up,
you know, I don't know if I want to play.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
So he's just playing hard to get he's the hot girl.
Speaker 6 (10:42):
Does he want to dig?
Speaker 9 (10:42):
God?
Speaker 8 (10:43):
That's that's my whole question around in this segment, and
that's what leads me to believe that this is just
a disaster for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Right now, you pay
DK Metcalf thirty million dollars a year and DK Metcalf
does not want Mason Rudolph were little higher throw him
the football promise shot.
Speaker 7 (10:58):
Well, they do, they do to your point, Chase, they
do have a lot of weapons defensively. They also have
weapons offensively, and they remind me of the Cleveland Browns,
Like how many times have they had a stout defense
with Miles Garrett and you got Denzel Award, Grant Delpit
and they've been one of the best defenses, not only
in the AFC North but in the entire NFL. But
they just they don't have the one piece, and that's
(11:20):
the quarterback. And everybody has said on this show, and
I've heard so many head coaches say, if you don't
have a quarterback, you have no chance.
Speaker 6 (11:27):
So that is why the quarterback is the one.
Speaker 7 (11:28):
That always wins the MVP because he's the one that
if you don't have one.
Speaker 6 (11:32):
You're not even going to get to the dance.
Speaker 7 (11:34):
So for the Pittsburgh Steelers, again, Will Howard, in my opinion,
gives you that chance to at least be able to
compete at a level that puts the Pittsburgh Steelers in
a different light. Now, the only question I have for
Will Howard is I did mention George Pickens and DK Metcalf.
There are two big personalities on and off the field.
(11:55):
How are you going to be able to handle that
when they don't get the ball and they show that
displeasure and not getting the ball. So that's the only
thing that's the only question and concerned I have for
Will Howard. But other than that, I in the Arthur
Smith's game, He'll be just fine.
Speaker 5 (12:07):
Well man, I like I like Will Howard too, and
we liked him and a lot of what he stands for.
It would be exceptionally rare for a sixth round rookie
to come in and start exceptionally rare. That's that doesn't happen.
I mean, I believe Gardner Minshew might fit that profile.
Speaker 6 (12:23):
He started.
Speaker 5 (12:24):
Somebody you're gonna go to Will Howard and say welcome
to the league. This is the Pittsburgh Steelers where the
bedrock of this organization in this entire league welcome. You
have Pickens over there and dk over there. And if
you go one series ducking in the ball, they're gonna
scream on this. I mean, that's a tough ask for
a rookie who already has a lot of work to
do to acclimate to be a pro. I like him,
(12:45):
he's tough, like I don't think that's a viable plan
because it's a Steelers like. We don't do six and
eleven seasons. We don't do starter seasons. We go to
the playoffs every year. I like Howard as a project,
but I still think they have a plan. They're revealing
they either have an insurance thing where they have an
understanding with Rogers. I mean, we could bring up all
the Will Howard highlights we want.
Speaker 6 (13:03):
That is a rumble leievable ask.
Speaker 5 (13:05):
And although, by the way, also Will Howard, you're gonna
play against Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow and whoever the
hell the Cleveland Browns cough up. That should be the
debate who has the weirder quarterback room. On April twenty nine,
the Browns or the Steelers.
Speaker 6 (13:21):
I think it might actually be.
Speaker 5 (13:22):
The Browns, but we're talking Steelers now. They have to
have a plan, an ace in the hole that they're
going to reveal this.
Speaker 6 (13:27):
You can't. You can't throw Will Howard to the Wolves.
I like them too, but like that's impossible. You can't.
That's too much of an ask.
Speaker 4 (13:34):
And I was thinking about the division as a whole
last season, what we thought about this division going into.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
The year, and now where we sort of are with the.
Speaker 4 (13:42):
Division, it's completely different. I know that the Bengals that
year that they had was kind of.
Speaker 3 (13:48):
Hopefully it was an anomaly.
Speaker 4 (13:50):
But with the quarterback situations in Cleveland and in Pittsburgh
right now, it's like the Ravens are the cream of
the crop.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
And when you have Art Rooney on.
Speaker 4 (14:00):
The Steelers flagship radio show saying about Aaron Rodgers, we
still are kind of getting the same signals that we've
been getting recently. He does want to come here, So
I do think we may get word soon. Is this
going to be a situation where Aaron Rodgers draws it
all the way out because maybe he doesn't want to
go to training camp.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
And we're talking about.
Speaker 4 (14:19):
This in August, I mean, God, I hope not so.
For the love of God, please Aaron Rodgers make a
decision so we can all figure out what is going
on with this team and this division and the entire conference.
Speaker 3 (14:31):
That's where I sit on things. But you know what,
we are going to see where the Steelers play.
Speaker 4 (14:36):
Where they open the season, their primetime games, and the
rest of the league all on May fourteenth.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
That's a Wednesday.
Speaker 4 (14:42):
So make sure you're locked and loaded for the schedule release.
Stay tuned for all the details here on NFL Network
at NFL dot com, and honestly, the season.
Speaker 3 (14:50):
It will be here before you know it. Steelers fans, the.
Speaker 4 (14:54):
Twenty twenty five NFL Draft, it was honestly filled with
so many fireworks, excitements, just raw motion. Who gave the
best reaction of the higher weekend though?
Speaker 3 (15:05):
Who was best dressed? We have that coming up.
Speaker 5 (15:09):
I just want to hear Colleen talk more about schedule release.
Speaker 6 (15:11):
That's what gets me out of bed in the Morning's
into that. I like it. That's right.
Speaker 5 (15:16):
That's some people were put on the planet to do
a certain things, and Colleen's schedule release, You're born to
do it, all right. The New York Giants then at
Penn State, stand out at.
Speaker 6 (15:24):
Dual Carter, you know that.
Speaker 5 (15:26):
Hold on a second, is he looking to wear fifty
six on the Giants?
Speaker 6 (15:29):
That's Lawrence Taylor's number. What's Lawrence Taylor going to say
about that? What do you say about that? What do
we say about that? It's good morning football, don't go anywhere.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
Good morning football, and we're.
Speaker 3 (15:50):
Back here on GMFB.
Speaker 4 (15:51):
So let's dive into some topics here see if they
are a big deal or not a big deal. And
we're going to start here with some jersey numbers. Warren
Moon graciously unretired his number for cam Ward to wear.
Speaker 3 (16:04):
Don't we have Giants' top pick?
Speaker 4 (16:06):
Abdul Carter who asked Lawrence Taylor if he would do
the same. Now, mind you, Abdul Carter was tweeting fifty
six all over the place. He's been kind of like
laying the groundwork for this moment. And ELTI said, no
big deal or no big deal.
Speaker 7 (16:22):
I don't think it's I don't think it's a big deal. No,
I don't think it's a big deal that Elt said.
Speaker 6 (16:26):
No, I mean it's his number. It's fifty six.
Speaker 7 (16:29):
Like quick story, when I was with the Chicago Bears.
My last year, the Chicago Bears KBU know this. They
retired almost every number a linebacker can have, So I'm
really I I was really close with Pop Buckis Stick
Buckets I last in my hand. I was like, hey, Pop,
you think I can have fifty one? He was like, no,
that's totally fine with me. But I think it's a
(16:49):
big deal in all the right ways for Abdul Carter
to ask, if I am Joe Shane, I am so
happy that my first round pick wants to wear that
fifty six. That just goes to show that my first
round pick isn't afraid of the expectation. He isn't afraid
of that smoke. Matter of fact, he's embracing it. He's saying,
let me wear the most iconic number for this franchise
in fifty six, and let me go ask the man himself.
(17:11):
So if I am the Giants, I am so happy.
I am so excited that this guy wants all of that,
because the Giants need somebody to say, hey, I am.
Speaker 6 (17:20):
Him, and Abduen Carter, basically.
Speaker 7 (17:22):
In this attempt to get the number fifty six is saying, hey,
I am him, I am that guy. And I'm excited
to take this thing over. So it's not a big
deal that Elt said no. But it is a big
deal in all the right ways for the Giants that
Abdul Carter wants that number.
Speaker 8 (17:35):
And to your point, Manti, I completely agree. I really
liked the idea of a dual Carter going to Lawrence
Taylor asking for the number, embracing that pressure. Really one
of you on his shoulders. Let's be honest here, now,
no big deal. LT's won to one. You talk about
the go of all defensive players, three defensive Player of
the Year awards.
Speaker 9 (17:53):
He got his first one his rookie year.
Speaker 8 (17:55):
I mean, you got a guy that got drafted by
the Giants and took them all the way to the
Super Bowl, to the Promised Land and won that and
he got the six for six first six years, first
six team All Pros. To me, the Johts fifty six
shouldn't even be allowed to be Warren ever again, it
should be framed up in the building in MetLife, never
to be touched.
Speaker 9 (18:15):
He's immortalized and only talked.
Speaker 3 (18:16):
About in like a hushed tone.
Speaker 5 (18:18):
Yeah, yes, yes, I look at this as a huge deal.
Huge deal in the sense that Lawrence Taylor's saying. No
saved Abdull Carter for making a terrible mistake. You dude, Abdua,
I love you. I'm a huge fan of yours. You're
gonna make great plays.
Speaker 6 (18:34):
In the league.
Speaker 5 (18:35):
You don't want to wear fifty six for a bunch
of reasons. One, I think the fan base will immediately
be out on it, especially the old heads.
Speaker 6 (18:42):
That's LT's number. You don't touch it.
Speaker 5 (18:44):
Two, Like, dude, you could be a first ballot Hall
of Famer and you still wouldn't be Lawrence Taylor. Like
he is arguably the greatest football player at every position ever.
It's like him and Brady and Rice and Reggie. That's
the entire list, and fifty six is iconic. Understand this, Like,
I like what Warren Moon did. It's a really cool thing.
Maybe a little easier for him because Warren Moon was
really a tight So he hands the number into cam
(19:06):
Ward and that's great. Warn Moon was not Lawrence Taylor.
He wasn't even close. And he's a Hall of Famer.
No one is Lawrence Taylor. Do you know how specialist is.
I'll give you an example off the field. When they
make football movies, they always make the badass linebacker fifty six.
Alvin Mack in the program is fifty six because.
Speaker 6 (19:27):
Of Lawrence Taylor.
Speaker 5 (19:28):
Jon Favreau in the replacements is fifty six because of
Lawrence Taylor. It's like twenty three for basketball or twenty
one for the fast guys. Like it's just an iconic
representation of the baddest, scariest dude on the field. Fifty
six scares people because they think about that guy, Lawrence Taylor.
So Abdul, I appreciate the ambition, but you want to
(19:51):
leave that alone. That's sacred. A. I don't think it
would resonate well with the fan base. B. No matter
what you do, you wouldn't live up to it. You
have a really cool thing coming from Penn State, where
you have number eleven. Google tells me eleven is available
on the New York Giants. Now it was phil Simms number,
but that's totally different. You are a different position and
different everything. I would go and try to get eleven
(20:12):
because fifty six.
Speaker 6 (20:14):
You don't want that, you don't need that. It's put away.
It's to your.
Speaker 5 (20:17):
Point, Like, I don't even like seeing linebackers and other
teams wear fifty six.
Speaker 6 (20:20):
Let alone on the Giants.
Speaker 4 (20:22):
That is such a good point, honestly, like get your
own number, get that retired, start your own thing. I
feel like that's the whole point of coming into the NFL,
is creating a legacy for yourself. And yeah, it would
be cool for him to wear fifty six because he's
loved him and he's such an icon, but also a duel.
Speaker 3 (20:38):
Carter, You're just as good. Maybe at least you should.
Speaker 4 (20:41):
Be telling yourself that, and maybe you will have a
spot to retire your jersey one day. All right, let's
stay in the NFC East and we're gonna talk about
the Cowboys here. They did not draft a receiver, and
Jerry Jones was asked about adding one, he said, the
train hasn't left the station.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
If improvement is needed.
Speaker 4 (20:59):
Now here's a look at the wide receivers on the roster,
and it is questionable depth behind in CD Lamb. They
did have a shot to draft Matthew Golden, but they
opted instead for an offensive lineman in that first round.
So is it a big deal or not that Dallas
did not draft a wide receiver.
Speaker 7 (21:18):
Calling it's a huge deal that they didn't draft the
wide receiver and you said that the death behind ced Lamb.
I'm more concerned about the guy next to CD Lamb
because we talked about it on the show back in November.
I talked about CD Lamb is at his best when
he has a really good number two receiver. He had
it in Brandon Cooks and he I thought that they
really had a good shot at Matthew Golden. But here
(21:40):
is CD Lamb's production with or without Brandon Cooks.
Speaker 6 (21:44):
Obviously eight games to seven games. You look at the targets.
Speaker 7 (21:47):
He's getting more targets without Brandon Cooks, obviously because he's
their only receiver. Which is a situation here. Now the
yards per game, it's different. You think that he would
have more yards with more targets. Now with the less targets,
he has more receptions, he has more yards, and.
Speaker 6 (22:03):
He has more utchdowns.
Speaker 7 (22:05):
So the best version of Cedee Lamb comes when you
have a number two wide receiver that can take the
top of the defenses, which Brandon Cooks did at which
Matthew Golden did for Texas.
Speaker 6 (22:15):
He was their vertical threat. And I thought that.
Speaker 7 (22:18):
By pairing those two guys together, you would get the
offense that you've.
Speaker 6 (22:22):
Always wanted for the Dallas Cowboys. So I thought it was.
Speaker 7 (22:24):
A big deal that they did in draft a wide
receiver at all in this draft.
Speaker 8 (22:29):
And to piggyback off of what you just said, man Ti,
it's definitely also about Ceedee Lamb. More importantly for me,
it's about Dak Prescott. You talk about Dak Prescott last year, had.
Speaker 9 (22:38):
An injured season, played eight games. He finished in twenty.
Speaker 8 (22:42):
Ninth in QBR, and we all know when the football
season comes around, we're going to talk about three players
for the Dallas Cowboys. Dak Prescott, Michael Parsons, Cede Lamb, Jerry.
I think Jerry's got to stop this main character syndrome,
acting like he knows every single perfect move. You got
to help your quarterback out. You paid them all this money.
You made him the highest paid quarterback, and he just
(23:02):
got jumped in the market. But you paid him the highest,
You made him the highest paid quarterback.
Speaker 9 (23:05):
In the NFL.
Speaker 8 (23:06):
And he's coming off of an injured season, a significant
injury that made him lose time, and now you don't
even get him some more help to have somebody to go.
Speaker 6 (23:14):
To football to.
Speaker 8 (23:15):
In half of his games, he threw for one or
less touchdowns, and I think that's a contribution to obviously
not having another second option next to CD lamp Chase.
Speaker 4 (23:24):
I can't imagine a world where Jerry Jones is not
a main character or the main character.
Speaker 3 (23:29):
Kyle am I crazy here?
Speaker 5 (23:33):
Well, it's a good question, Colleen, And I'm trying to
get to a place where I'm trying to wrap my
arms around this modest, practical Dare I say boring version
of the Dallas Cowboys. I don't recognize them, but I'm
going to say it's not a big deal because it's
almost like they're forging this new identity. They have maybe
the most underrated under the radar boring not move the
(23:54):
needle coaching higher in the last twenty years, Brian Schottenneimer.
Speaker 6 (23:57):
Maybe he'll do well.
Speaker 5 (23:58):
And then you show up at the draft and here
we go, number twelve, Shadoor is there, this guy's there,
that guy there, and they take a guard. It's like
they're not only kind of struggling in the East right now,
they're probably the least interesting team of the four. And
when of you ever said that? They're probably the most
boring team of the four. But they've tried fireworks and
(24:19):
spice and splash for twenty five years.
Speaker 6 (24:21):
It never works.
Speaker 5 (24:23):
Maybe they're growing up and doing something a little more
prudent instead of saying like that, maybe we don't like
the wide receivers, but we'll do it anyway because we're
the Cowboys and I'll sell jerseys. Let's just get a guard,
Let's put them in front of deck, Let's give him
some more time, and let's go to work. It's not fun.
It's not moving the needle. This segment alone is dying
on a vine right now. But I'm telling you maybe
it's different because everything the Cowboys house tries it's never working.
(24:46):
So maybe they're just going boring, practical, prudent. I'm bored
right now talking about them.
Speaker 6 (24:51):
But we'll see if it works.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
This fall nailed it.
Speaker 4 (24:53):
Yeah, I mean you're right, because I'm sitting here thinking
of maybe free agents that are available.
Speaker 3 (24:59):
They're still floating around out there.
Speaker 4 (25:00):
Keenan Allen, Amari Cooper. I mean he was there before.
But this doesn't really move the needle at all, Kyle,
So we'll have to see.
Speaker 3 (25:10):
Chase.
Speaker 9 (25:11):
I got something to say. Okay, hey, you hit it
on the point.
Speaker 6 (25:13):
It is born.
Speaker 8 (25:14):
But let me tell you something Cawboy Nation, you're one
injury away from that offense starving Starvin like Martin.
Speaker 3 (25:20):
That's true.
Speaker 4 (25:22):
So that message straight to Jerry Jones from Chase Edmonds
here on GMFB.
Speaker 3 (25:26):
Happy Tuesday, everybody, Welcome.
Speaker 4 (25:28):
Back to GMFB where we are talking about Beignet's and Malisala.
Speaker 6 (25:33):
Is that malada?
Speaker 2 (25:35):
Malisada?
Speaker 4 (25:36):
It's like a Beignet's, but it's Hawaiian and we're debating
which is better. So you guys let us know if
you know the difference. Omar, I know you're in on
this debate.
Speaker 6 (25:43):
Oh, I love it.
Speaker 11 (25:44):
I want that powdered sugar all over my teal. You
know what you get when you get highlighter, green and
black together, you get this little tea.
Speaker 6 (25:50):
So we are color coordinated all the way.
Speaker 11 (25:53):
Well, we started with some big news out of San
Francisco as the People's tight end, George Kittle has landed
a new mega contract extension. NFL network insider Ian Rappaport
reporting Kittle a green terms on a four year extension
worth about seventy six and a half million dollars. The
new deal making Kittle the highest paid tight end in
the league. Kittle coming off one of the best seasons
(26:14):
of his career, putting up more than eleven hundred receiving
yards to go with eight touchdowns.
Speaker 6 (26:18):
We'll have to wait and see if Rock Purty is next.
Speaker 11 (26:21):
In line to get a new deal done with the
forty nine ers. Elsewhere, Titans general manager Mike Borganzi is
saying on Monday, quarterback cam Ward is not guaranteed to
get the starting job just yet, saying they're not going
to name any starters right now, and there's going to
be competition in every room. Will Levis starting twelve games
for Tennessee last season. Meanwhile, Saints quarterback Derek Carr confirming
(26:43):
his shoulder is in fact injured, following a rumor that
the injury was fabricated, Car saying quote, I have an
MRI report to prove it, and up Network insider Ian
Rappaport recently reporting Car suffered a shoulder injury that could
put his twenty twenty five season in jeopardy. And this
past weekend, the Detroit Lions hosting their NFL Flag Regional
(27:05):
tournament with fifty two teams competing in eleven age groups
and hopes to punch their ticket for the NFL Flag
Championships this summer intent brave performance, the ten you girls
team swept through the competition to return back to the championships.

Speaker 9 (27:26):
Still to come, we're breaking.
Speaker 6 (27:27):
Out our Draft superlatives.
Speaker 11 (27:30):
See who takes home our awards when we come back.
Speaker 2 (27:43):
Good morning football.
Speaker 4 (27:46):
Okay, so we're all still recovering from the three days
of draft in Green Bay, but we're gonna try and
make sense of it all with a little game called
Draft Superlatives. So maybe in your high school you were
most likely to succeed or I was most artistic, So
I really did.
Speaker 3 (28:02):
A lot with that.
Speaker 4 (28:04):
I said that in his high school he had a
most likely to get arrested, which I can't believe.
Speaker 6 (28:11):
That wasn't me, Guys, it definitely wasn't me.
Speaker 3 (28:14):
Okay, y were anything, because I feel like you were no.
Speaker 6 (28:17):
Well, thank you.
Speaker 5 (28:18):
I think most of the time when I got there,
it was all like a political correctness and sensitivity. They
got rid of them because all the parents were too mad.
Let's be honest. Some of those would be like biggest flirt,
Like you don't want your kid to be biggest flirt,
to be like biggest trouble maker, biggest like some they
were very loaded topics and what they were saying, So
my school started getting rid of them.
Speaker 6 (28:38):
I didn't get squat.
Speaker 4 (28:39):
Wow, I missed opportunity me personally.
Speaker 8 (28:42):
Yeah, it was actually the most funniest, really class class.
Speaker 6 (28:47):
You you're ted to be the class clown? What do
you feel? How you feel about that? Exactly?
Speaker 5 (28:54):
That's what I'm saying, Like your kid's a class clown.
It's like my kids the imbecile, Like I want to
get that went the future president.
Speaker 6 (29:00):
You know they're all loaded.
Speaker 3 (29:02):
All right, Well, let's get to our our own and
we are going.
Speaker 4 (29:05):
To start with most likely to succeed in year one.
Of all the rookies we saw in Green Bay, who
do you think, Chase.
Speaker 8 (29:12):
Give me Travis Hunter the Unicorn and Travis Hunter to me,
was already the best football player coming.
Speaker 9 (29:18):
Out in this draft.
Speaker 8 (29:19):
He does everything in so many things so well. I
think he has the best bass because I've seen coming
out of the NFL in the college football part in
the last five to ten seasons.
Speaker 9 (29:27):
But this to me is more about Liam Cohen.
Speaker 8 (29:29):
Actually, I had personal experience with Liam down in Tampa
last season. He's an offensive google, offensive genius, and he's
going to utilize Travis Hunter in so many ways on
the offensive side of the football. But more importantly, Travis
coming into that situation with Brian Thomas Junior across from him,
is going to allow him to always see the cornerback's
second best defense defensive player. So the cornerback number one
(29:53):
is going to be guarding Brian Thomas, He's going to
take most of the attention. Travis Hunter is going to
have a crazy matchup. He's going to be a matchup nightmare.
I want to point out something else as well. With
his dynamic ability of catching the football and running after
the catch, I believe Liam Colin is gonna use him
a lot in the slot. My good friend CG. Christian
Gobblin shout out to you brother. Before he got injured,
he was at five hundred and seventy nine yards in
(30:14):
seven games. And I think Travis Sutton's gonna have a
big time season. I think he's going to really revolutionize
and bring Trevor Lawrence back to his glory days.
Speaker 6 (30:22):
I like that.
Speaker 7 (30:22):
I like Travis Hunter. I like how you called him
the unicorn, which everybody's been calling them. The reason why
I have the guy that I have. His name is
Madechai Starks, a safety out of Georgia drafted to the
Baltimore Ravens. The reason why I think that he's most
likely to succeed is because he doesn't have to be
a unicorn. He doesn't have to be a franchise changing player.
He just can be Madechai Starks. He can be the ballhawk. Now,
(30:45):
when you are drafted into the NFL and you are rookie,
the best thing you can have as a mentor in
a perfect world, your mentor is in the same position
group as you and gets who he's playing alongside. Kyle Hamilton.
Kyle Hamilton is one of the best safeties in the game.
He's one of the most cerebral. He is a guy
that they had to take from being playing close a
(31:06):
line of scrimmage, doing a lot of Troy Polamalu type plays.
But then they have to put him in a deep
third to kind of shore everything up for that defense.
We saw the difference in the Baltimore Ravens defense when.
Speaker 6 (31:16):
They did move him.
Speaker 7 (31:17):
Now you have Malachai Starks a lot like Ed Reid.
He can play from silin to sideline He's very instinctual.
Speaker 6 (31:23):
He can come up in the run game if you
need him to.
Speaker 7 (31:26):
But that allows the Ravens to take Kyle Hamilton and
use him the way that he wants to be, you
that they want to use him, which is close to
the line of scrimmage disguising coming off the edge on blitzz.
So I really think that Malachai Starks is set up
the best to succeed in this class because he's surrounded
by guys, by guys like Kyle Hamilton, Rokwan Smith, guys
(31:47):
that are vocal. He doesn't have to take on so
much responsibility. And again, he doesn't have to be the
unicorn Malachi Starks.
Speaker 6 (31:53):
You don't got to be a unicorn. Just be Malachai
Starks and you'll be just fine. It's pretty cool.
Speaker 5 (31:56):
And he'll get to go against the Pickens and DK
and that first Baltimore Pittsburgh game. I'm going to go
with the deep cut for me. Guys, I don't even
know if you've heard of this. You got a load
of this cam Scataboo guy.
Speaker 6 (32:07):
I'm only not. I think he's in a great position
to succeed.
Speaker 5 (32:10):
He is in the position which is about five minutes
down the road from me. That is number four in
your program for the Arizona State summon. Sun Devil's number
one in your heart. Maybe number three on the Giants'
depth chart, But Brian Dagel is going to run the ball.
I don't know if the Giants have the firepower to
compete with Philadelphia or even Washington. They got a deep
running back room, they got new quarterbacks, and they have
(32:32):
a new beginning and a new organization now that they
drafted number four from Arizona State. Cam Scataboo most likely
to succeed future president. If you ask me, I'm into it.
Speaker 2 (32:41):
KP.
Speaker 7 (32:42):
I got a quick question. I know your love for
camp Stataboo. If Cap Scatabou asked LT for fifty six,
what would you say.
Speaker 6 (32:50):
LT wishes that he could go back to his.
Speaker 5 (32:52):
Career and wear four Scatabu like he wants the time
machine so he.
Speaker 6 (32:55):
Can honor Scataboo. That's the answer. A great question.
Speaker 3 (32:59):
He said.
Speaker 4 (32:59):
He's been doubted his entire life, but not by Kyle Brandt.
Unfortunately he did not meet Kyle Brandt earlier in his life.
But yeah, he'll be playing with that ship on his shoulder.
Speaker 2 (33:09):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (33:09):
The draft is always filled with.
Speaker 4 (33:11):
Surprises also a ton of energy and emotion.
Speaker 3 (33:15):
So the player you'd give best reaction to, and there.
Speaker 4 (33:18):
Were so many, so I feel like this is a
really tough one.
Speaker 3 (33:20):
Chase.
Speaker 8 (33:21):
Best reaction for me goes to my man Jack Besh
down going to the Las Vegas ras.
Speaker 9 (33:26):
Oh yeah, I love his story, guys, and you know
it was very heartfelt story.
Speaker 8 (33:30):
He tragically lost his brother in New Orleans Tiger at
the terrorist attack down in Bourbon Street. And you get
a guy, you get spy Tech called in the GM
for the Las Vegas rads. You see him surrounded by
nothing but family and friends. You know, he's an emotional guy.
It's an emotional moment for his family. And I remember
when he gets on the call. They do the audio
clip of it, and the first thing he's telling spot
Tech you getting.
Speaker 9 (33:50):
A dog, baby, You getting a dog.
Speaker 8 (33:52):
And that's the mindset that's going to be needed to
change the culture down with the Raiders, and I think
that Jack Besh is a very good first step obviously,
along with Ashton Genty to do that for them.
Speaker 6 (34:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (34:01):
I like the changing culture, guys. Everybody knows I talk
about culture a lot on this show. But the guy
that I thought had the best reaction is a culture
changer as a Patriots pick of Will.
Speaker 6 (34:11):
Campbell McClain, please play this clip on his interview with Jamie.
Speaker 12 (34:16):
I've worked my entire life to be up here, to
be able to get my name called by franchise like
New England. It meets everything to me.
Speaker 3 (34:25):
We can feel that, we absolutely can feel that.
Speaker 6 (34:27):
Well, you are brought to New England to protect Drake May.
Speaker 4 (34:31):
What kind of tone are you going to set on
this offensive line?
Speaker 12 (34:34):
I'm a fight and die to protect them with everything.
Speaker 4 (34:37):
Like that boy, that seems aggressive.
Speaker 7 (34:43):
I have never wanted to cry and run through a
brick wall other than the birth of my two kids.
Speaker 6 (34:49):
Then when I watched this.
Speaker 7 (34:50):
Kid talk about what it took to get there, all
the sacrifices that him and his family made to get there,
and then I'm going to die to protect Drake May.
I know the Patriots know exactly what they're getting in
Will Campbell, and I thought that was one of the
best reactions of the twenty twenty five NFL draft.
Speaker 6 (35:06):
Kyle, I look, I like to fight.
Speaker 5 (35:08):
We don't need anybody dying, all right, We're gonna be good,
you fight, you scrap you claw. I thought it was
a really cool reaction too, but it wasn't my favorite one.
The best reaction is you guys get a load of
camp Scataboo in.
Speaker 6 (35:21):
The bring up the video.
Speaker 5 (35:23):
Right there, he is bring up the video and here's
the reaction of a person who thought they were going
first overall and should have gone first overall. He falls
to one oh five. He has a beautiful room of
friends and family. There's a clock back there, just tick
ticking away.
Speaker 6 (35:40):
That's the pops who's in pest control. He puts the hat.
That's a beautiful moment.
Speaker 5 (35:44):
That's like the circle of life and move Fossa and
Simpley puts the hat on his son and he's getting
the backpacks. I will go cam Scataboo for best reaction video.
It's tough to be a lot of players out there.
I like a lot of players, but I have no
other choice to go Scataboo for this question.
Speaker 4 (36:00):
Wow, I mean we need a counter of how many
times that we've been.
Speaker 3 (36:04):
His name on the show between now players start of
the season. Okay, let's go to best draft fit.
Speaker 4 (36:11):
Because we saw these guys coming in, everyone had a
different style, which I love. They all talked to Keimmy
checks on the red carpet at.
Speaker 3 (36:19):
Lambeau, which was really cool.
Speaker 4 (36:20):
So who had who was best dressed out of the
entire group?
Speaker 8 (36:24):
Chase, Oh black and beautiful, and I gotta go my man,
Jalen Milroe.
Speaker 9 (36:28):
Jalen, you gotta.
Speaker 8 (36:29):
Let me know where you got the Chrome Hearts tailor super.
Speaker 9 (36:32):
I mean that brother came out clean, super clean.
Speaker 8 (36:35):
He came out nostalgic, came out cool, calm, collected. And
when I saw that Chrome Hearts shoe, I said, yeah,
this brother got style.
Speaker 6 (36:43):
He got style. You know who got style? Guys?
Speaker 7 (36:46):
That big man going to the Dallas Cowboys. Pull up
Tyler Booker. Let me see this outfit that he put
on NFL Draft. Oh oh boy with the double breasted
brown swayed with the swede loafers penny loafers to matching
the cream pants. That boy was looking good, look good
in NFL Draft. I know he's gonna look good for
(37:07):
the Dallas Cowboys. He's what they want there now, KB.
If you say it, Cam Scotty look good.
Speaker 6 (37:14):
And that jacket KB, we go, KB, Who do you have? KB?
Because we got two really good.
Speaker 5 (37:21):
Ones The first two questions were football questions.
Speaker 6 (37:24):
I'm a scataboo guy. This is a fashion question. So listen.
You want to know his best dress, Bring up the video.
Hit the video. Here's my best dress. It's unbelievable. It
beat it. That's right. We got a gorgeous food. Now
go back to the video. I got to see it.
I gotta break it down. Faux fur collar.
Speaker 5 (37:43):
We got a cool little chain under the black.
Speaker 6 (37:45):
I like the tone. Tone.
Speaker 5 (37:47):
He's got a He's got a hat that looks perfect
to compliment to the jacket. I would love to get
a look at the trousers. I bet he's got some
like custom wranglers or something like that. It is a
beautiful outfit.
Speaker 4 (37:59):
It is.
Speaker 5 (37:59):
It is understated.
Speaker 6 (38:01):
I think it's a It's.
Speaker 5 (38:02):
A thin corduroy, not even one of those thick, ostentatious corduroys. Understated.
That's a team first jacket. It's not about me. I
am a team player.
Speaker 6 (38:11):
We got to watch. We got a time piece on it.
I love that top.
Speaker 5 (38:15):
To bottom he accessorizes. He's got neutral tones. It speaks
to his mentality as a ball carrier. I'm angry, but
I'm also neutral in the huddle, and I'm team oriented.
I think he absolutely crushed it. That's a dog right there.
That guy should be in Milan right now, never mind
New Jersey.
Speaker 6 (38:31):
I love what he wanted.
Speaker 4 (38:34):
Wait, Colleen, have you have you guys met yet?
Speaker 3 (38:39):
You and Cam? Have you guys? Like, has there been
like a date at all? A guy date, dude date?
Speaker 5 (38:44):
Well, we he was on the show last week, but remotely,
I don't know if like there has to be like
a five hundred yard separation.
Speaker 6 (38:52):
We've never been in the same room.
Speaker 5 (38:54):
Five hundred yards, by the way, probably what he will
run for in his first game as a New York Giant.
So now that he's down the road, we're gonna get
him into our Manhattan studio right here, We're gonna do it.
Speaker 6 (39:03):
I promise.
Speaker 4 (39:04):
I need that to happen. I feel like everyone needs
that to happen.
Speaker 3 (39:08):
Kyle and Cam.
Speaker 4 (39:09):
Maybe there's like a reoccurring segment. I don't know, but
I can guarantee this that Kyle will be talking about
Cam all off season long.
Speaker 11 (39:18):
Shadoor Sanders has been your best available for darn near
two days.
Speaker 7 (39:22):
He's sitting there twentieth overall, and they passed on Shador
one two, three, four, five.
Speaker 6 (39:28):
Six times.
Speaker 13 (39:29):
With the one hundred and forty fourth pick in the
twenty twenty five NFL Draft, the Cleveland round select Chedor Sanders,
quarterback Colorado.
Speaker 4 (39:42):
That's something reactions, And Saturday was the day finally Shador Sanders.
He went and you know who was watching besides every
single one of us in the world, KFC, because they
tweeted this out. The Colonel was rejected one thousand and
nine times before finally landing our famous original recipe. Sometimes
(40:05):
all as Sanders needs is a little time to cook. Congratsador,
So we love their social department.
Speaker 3 (40:10):
Awesome job with that.
Speaker 6 (40:12):
Yeah, really well done.
Speaker 3 (40:13):
You know it's great.
Speaker 6 (40:15):
So you know what else, Colleen? You know what else?
Has eleven herbs and spices? Bring it up. I'll show
you eleven herbs and spices. Bring the video up on
the drip.
Speaker 5 (40:26):
I'm scataboo is seasoned perfectly.
Speaker 2 (40:29):
We're destroying all.
Speaker 3 (40:30):
Of this video.
Speaker 2 (40:31):
You're not allowed.
Speaker 3 (40:32):
We have to save you from yourself. You're not allowed anymore.
Speaker 6 (40:37):
Question question, question what a moment? Are we KFC or Popeyes?
Whoever writes the check?
Speaker 3 (40:45):
That's tough?
Speaker 4 (40:46):
Do we have a sponsor situation involved here?
Speaker 3 (40:49):
I'm a company woman.
Speaker 7 (40:51):
So yeah, I did a lot of Popeyes rookie duties
where I have to go get a lot of Popeyes,
so I'm very well acquainted with some Popeyes.
