Speaker 1 (00:08):
Over fourteen years ago, Aaron Rodgers and Ben Roethlisberger met
one another in a Super Bowl. Now Roethlisberger's got himself
a podcast and talking about why Rodgers hasn't made a decision.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Yet to join the team that he used to play for.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
We'll give you all that information and break it down
in just a couple of minutes.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
Here.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Dak Prescott, we saw him on a high school field
the other day working out, working his way back.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
From that hamstring injury last year.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
Our James Slater will be along shortly to discuss Dak's
progress and the fact that he's not getting traded.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Yes, we're going to say that again.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
And Tyler Shuck, the quarterback prospect many believe could be
drafted on the second day of the draft, will be
joining the program to talk about everything he experienced in
his college career, and it was a lot. He played
seven years in Collowai. He was there in college for
seven years. Welcome inside with the insiders. Two of them tonight, me,
Mike Carafalo, him Ian Rappaport with us today. A bunch

(01:04):
of folks I mentioned Jane Slater. Michael f Florio is
going to be along to talk some Fantasy Impact Lancer
line will join the program as well. Because even though
it's April, we've got news, and we had a bunch
of it today in the form of a couple of
contract extensions, this one early on Gino Smith.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
Frankly, we're sort of surprised it.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Took this long.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
We thought it was going to happen days after he
was traded from the Seahawks to the Raiders.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
But the deal finally done.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
As first reported by our guy Ian rappaport Ian. You
see the details on the screen right there. Give him
the full breakdown.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
We'll dig a little deeper into these numbers, and first
of all, you're right a positive move by the Las
Vegas Raiders and Gino Smith to agree to terms on
his extension today. It is two years up to eighty
five point five million dollars. That includes the incentives. It
is two years seventy five million dollars at it space
right around where Derek car is with the New Orleans

(02:01):
Saints and a little over where Sam Donald is just
based on average per year, a new money from where
Sam Donald is with the Seahawks. Of course, Gino Smith
traded from his old team, the Seahawks to the Raiders
in part because they didn't want to go where he
wanted to go on a contact extension, now gets a
new one with the Raiders. He gets sixty six point
five million dollars in guarantee, so Geno now locked in

(02:25):
not just for this year but for years to come.
A two year deal which makes it under contract for
three years, which means it likely ties him to the
team for this year and next year. The reason why
I say that, Mike, is because the draft is coming up.
Perhaps you've heard it's gonna be in Green Bay. The
Raiders are picking early in the top ten. I would
be surprised, very surprised based on this contract. Based on

(02:47):
what I've heard, if they do select a quarterback, it
appears they have their starter for this year next year
and is going to be Geno Smith in Las Vegas.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
These numbers for Gino Smith, again, they include the incentive
somewhere between what the Seahawks were offering him initially and
what he wanted.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
So he gets a raise.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
He also goes to a tax free state in Nevada,
so that's a bunch of money that he is going
to save there as well. So good on Gino Smith.
Good on the Raiders for getting this done. Saw P
Carroll at the NFL Annual Meeting. He is extremely excited
to be working with Geno Smith once again. Will the
Steelers be excited to know for sure that they're going
to be working with Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
Yeah, we're waiting on that. They're waiting on that. Everybody's
waiting on that.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
In the meantime, here is Rogers throwing to new Steelers
wide receiver DK Metcalf.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Over the weekend.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
Ben Roethlisberger, Yeah, remember him watching this one from afar.
He's got his own opinions on what's taken so long.

Speaker 5 (03:40):
Just my opinion, I think Aaron is secretly still holding
out for Minnesota, which is why he hasn't signed with
the Steelers. Why else would you know, Why else would
you go throw with Dk and be working out and
put it out blast everybody that I'm throwing to these guys,
but you will sign and the team and I love
the Steelers. They're like, you know, we don't need to
know right now, and they probably don't because there's not

(04:00):
like there's a lot of other options, right But I
would think at some point you gotta be like Hey,
you need to let us know before the draft.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
Yeah, A couple of things. One, yes, they would like
to know before the draft. Steelers are somewhat patient, but
that patients seems to be wearing, then they'd like to
know here in the near future. And the other thing,
if Aaron Rodgers is waiting for the Minnesota Vikings, he
could he's gonna be waiting for a lot. I mean,
it could happen at some point, but he's gonna be
waiting for a very long time.

Speaker 4 (04:25):
Ian well as far as Roethlisberger goes, he said a
bunch of things here that are not entirely wrong, Like
I don't believe, I'll say believe. I don't believe Aaron
Rodgers is waiting for the Minnesota Vikings right now. He's
had enough conversations with the Vikings, with his good buddy
Kevin O'Connell to know that the Vikings are looking at

(04:46):
JJ McCarthy as their starting quarterback. And if somehow, some
way something terrible would happen where this is not the case,
it's not going to come now. Any sort of realization,
which I don't believe, is going to come, and any
sort of realization would probably come more in training camp
as opposed to now. I don't expect Rogers to wait
that long. Where Roethlisberger is probably right is I think
it's been pretty clear the Minnesota Vikings were a place

(05:08):
at Aaron Rodgers wanted to go, probably would have taken
less money to get there. I don't think that's been
a secret at all. It's just by now he's got
to know that that's not happening. And as far as
the timeline, yeah, I mean, you're right, Mike. The Steelers
would like to know. They'd like to know yesterday, they'd
like to know tomorrow. They have to know though, by
the draft. And if you're Aaron Rodgers and you don't

(05:29):
mind taking a little time and drawing out a little
bit and maybe getting people like us to talk about
you for several more weeks, a draft day decision would
be fine. We did it when the draft was in
Kansas City and he got traded to the Jets.

Speaker 6 (05:41):
That was a lot of fun. Let's do it again.

Speaker 4 (05:43):
We're in Green Bay, which you may have heard, that's
actually where Rogers played before the Jets and then potentially
the Steelers.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
Rogers hasn't said a word here during this entire process publicly.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
He was at one event, they tried to talk to him.
He wasn't interested in talking then.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
And I know that the Steelers are going to sit
there or maybe some folks are going to say and
cam Heywards alluded to this, if you wanted to be
a Steeler, you would have been a Steeler already. There
are no other options right now. So that's why Ben
thinks it's Minnesota. I'll be curious to see how much
did the possibility of retirement factor in here. When did
he make his decision that he did want to come back.
Is he still mulling it? Like this is all the

(06:18):
stuff that we have to hear from Rogers. Everyone would
like to hear it. Perhaps we'll hear it once he
finally does decide to join the Pittsburgh Steelers. If indeed
that is the case, we will let you know, just
like we let you know this morning when Joe Milton
got traded from the Patriots to the Dallas Cowboys, Milton
and a seventh going to the Cowboys in exchange for

(06:39):
a fifth round pick back to New England. On this one,
the Cowboys had pretty much cleared out both backup quarterbacks
needed somebody behind Dak Prescott. They have gotten that guy
in Joe Milton. Jane Slater, get on in here, because
I want to take your pulse on this one and
get your reaction to the Joe Milton trade what it
means for the Cowboys.

Speaker 7 (07:00):
And Mike.

Speaker 8 (07:00):
I'm sure you heard some rumblings of this possibility the
last couple of weeks. You know, when he toalked to
people in New England, they consider him a good teammate.

Speaker 7 (07:08):
One guy said he loved his energy.

Speaker 8 (07:10):
You know, he's a guy that's doing backflips at OTA's and.

Speaker 7 (07:14):
A hard worker.

Speaker 8 (07:14):
I think we saw it in his one regular season
game that he has got a big ceiling, you know.
Talking to the Cowboys, they just love some of the
energy that he brings in obviously the youth. And all
they had to do was give up a fifth round
compensatory pick. Why didn't they keep him in New England
if he was such a great quarterback? Good question? I
was told. Essentially, he sees himself as a starter. Now

(07:35):
that's not to say that that's going to cause any.

Speaker 7 (07:37):
Problems here in Dallas.

Speaker 8 (07:38):
We know what Dak Prescott's contract is, but the Cowboys
have long wanted to develop somebody behind him, and instead
of drafting someone in say the fourth or fifth round
like they did with Dak, they see this guy as
at least having some league experience. They didn't have to
give up a lot to get him. They also got
a seventh round pick, and as I was told again,

(07:58):
he sees himself as a starter. He knew that Mayo
was that guy. They also have Dobbs, so they both
got something out of this. This was a move that
made sense for Dallas and for New England.

Speaker 6 (08:09):
Well.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
Plus, if you look at from the Dallas standpoint, Jane
Dak is a little older or a lot older than
Drake May and his If Joe Millen is going to
be a starter, which again he believes that he is
certainly the talent, would speak that he is, He's got
a lot shorter.

Speaker 6 (08:23):
Runway in Dallas. In New England, it's more.

Speaker 4 (08:26):
Interesting, right because they drafted two quarterbacks in the same draft,
two rookies.

Speaker 6 (08:30):
Drake May is the guy.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
And if you had any doubt that Drake May is
the guy, which you should not have, it has been
very clear. What they did was ship a guy who
might create a little noise out to Dallas. And the
reason I say noise is because Joe Millen's got a
huge arm. He has been a fascination of New England reporters,
in New England fans at training camp. Everyone has seen
all the different things he can do, throw the ball

(08:51):
sixty yards downfield and all of that. Drake May is
the starter. They signed a backup in Josh Dobbs this offseason.
Drake May is the starter. Josh Dobbs is a backup,
which means if you're looking at Joe Milton you could say,
you know what, we could just get a draft pick
from him. It is all in on Drake May. Elimited
any issue before it becomes an issue and just move forward.

(09:12):
That is why New England ended up trading Joe Milton
to the Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
Yeah, I mean Joe Meltin, thank you.

Speaker 7 (09:17):
What's going to be an issue is these guys.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
Go ahead, what do you got?

Speaker 8 (09:22):
Whe's Janey just ad three hours work yesterday. I don't
need the guys blowing out here.

Speaker 7 (09:30):
Too much work to do.

Speaker 4 (09:32):
Guys, are you supposed to be the one with the
leaf blowers?

Speaker 8 (09:37):
If you guys knew the amount of work I did
on this yard yesterday we just had rain. I don't
need them blowing my top soil around.

Speaker 2 (09:43):
We'll cover that later in the show. Jane. In the meantime, tell.

Speaker 1 (09:47):
That guy to just dial it back because we're about
to talk some more about Dak Prescott.

Speaker 9 (09:53):
Ian.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
I want to bring you in here regarding this injury
recovery of this return from the hamstring that we're seeing
from Dak Scott looking pretty good out there, getting folks
excited that he's back on the field throwing a football.

Speaker 6 (10:05):
If you wanted to.

Speaker 10 (10:06):
Know how professional are you guys, No, if you want
to know how professional I am, I'm going to deliver
this Dak Prescott report despite the fact that people are
trying to ruin Jane's yard right outside her window, and
she's on live TV, so she get really good after
him like they want, so I'll take this, give me
one second that we can get back to fixing your yard.

Speaker 4 (10:25):
Dak Prescott is looking good, the recovery is going well.
And when he had surgery on that hamstring, the reason
he did it was to make sure that he healed.
It's not like surgery was elected. I think by the
time Dak got it, all the experts were saying this
is something.

Speaker 6 (10:41):
That would be really, really going to help.

Speaker 4 (10:42):
But this is why he did it, to make sure
that by the time he got to the spring, and
it's April third and OTAs aren't starting yet, but they're
going to in the coming weeks. They wanted Dak to
be good to go hit the ground running. That is
exactly where he is. So the rehab has gone well.
The surgery was a big success, and the Cowboys, who
have plenty to talk about, don't have an injury to

(11:03):
the quarterback to talk about this offseason, which is very,
very good.

Speaker 7 (11:08):
And I reached out to Dak today.

Speaker 8 (11:10):
He didn't want to give me too many details about,
you know, the comeback or what he's been able to
do not do, But I did say, have you reached
out to Milton because I remember the whole Trey Lance thing.
I think maybe caught some people off guard inside the building.
He said, I don't know why I wouldn't. He clearly
hadn't yet. He said he just learned the news when
I had reached out to him. He had just seen
it and he was training hard. So what I would

(11:31):
say is he looks happier than he's ever been.

Speaker 7 (11:33):
You know, he's got a second child.

Speaker 8 (11:35):
On the way he's been through these injuries, it was
incredibly frustrating. I think last year for him to sit
out the way that he was to get injured. I
was there in Atlanta with such an innocuous move that
led to that injury. And so he is ready to
come back, and I think what helps is he gets
that continuity with Brian Schottenheimer here and finally this team
saying we need to put some weapons around him, which

(11:56):
seems you know, if you look at some of these
thirty visits in Dallas, we're seeing a lot of white
and a lot of wide receivers getting mocked to Dallas
despite being repeatedly told that they're going to be building
up their trenches. I mean, I'm consistently being told it's
going to be an offensive lineman.

Speaker 7 (12:08):
But who knows.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
Who knows, Jane, it's the draft.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
Nobody knows until the card is turned in, And nobody
knows what's going to happen with Micah Parsons, especially because
things got a little saucy the other day with Jerry
Jones indicating the has no idea who the agent for
Micah Parsons is because he thought he had himself a
deal with Micah himself, and then Mike is saying no, no, no, no, no,
no way, I'm doing a deal without my agent. So

(12:34):
we still have plenty of twists and turns left in
the Micah Parsons situation. Here's Jerry Jones at the annual
meeting talking Micah.

Speaker 9 (12:43):
We are there. I don't view it as urgent at all.
And you know some say, well, using the basis that
you get something done the cheaper, whether or do you
get something done a lot of times the woe mistakes,
you might and you might want to see a few
more cards playing, not just with that particular negotiation, but

(13:08):
with the whole team.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
Well, we're already at forty million dollars per year.

Speaker 1 (13:11):
That's where Miles Garrett is, Max Crosby at thirty five,
Trey Hendrickson trying to get up there as well. Micah
Parson's younger than all these guys, so you know the
number in his mind has to be higher than that.
So yeah, Jerry Jones might wind up paying more Jane
if he waits this thing out.

Speaker 8 (13:28):
So this year he's waiting for the way the cards
are playing. Last year it was where the leaves are
falling as everyone kept saying that this decision with Micah
Parsons was imminent. Look, we had talked about this last week.
I had talked so a three P sixty view of
all involved in this, and it was very clear that
Jerry was trying to talk to Micaeh one on one

(13:48):
Micah sett or. Jerry said Micah is one of three
people that have the bat phone, the super Bowl phone,
and that they talk all the time. It was Minder saying,
yes they talked a lot this offseason, and yes they
talked numbers and kicked him around. But as I had
said last week, David Googletta, the agent, has had one conversation,
an intro one with the Cowboys back at the combine,

(14:10):
and since then his phone hasn't picked up.

Speaker 7 (14:12):
I thought it was curious that Jerry.

Speaker 8 (14:14):
Said he didn't know who David Mogoletta is. David Googoletta,
anyone that covers the NFL knows who Googlett is. He
has quite a few of the big players in the league.
You could see them all coming to his defense on Twitter.
I just literally boiled this down to Jerry. Still got
this day, I swear got flies flying in here. Jerry

(14:37):
to this day. Really loves the Wildcatter aspect. I'm ruining
your whole show this Wildcatter aspect of going back.

Speaker 7 (14:45):
To the drilling days.

Speaker 8 (14:46):
He still gets the rush of the deal, getting the
best deal possible, and I think that's kind of what
he's doing here. But you and I and Ian we
all know that ultimately they'll end up paying the market
value and he'll be the highest rated pass rusher in
the league, So it'll probably be closer to you training camp.

Speaker 4 (15:05):
You want your the guys ruining your yard to take
a break. It does seem like the Cowboys and Micah
Parsons after all this, they're probably gonna take a step.

Speaker 6 (15:12):
Back and go let everyone just breathe. There's no rush now.

Speaker 11 (15:16):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (15:16):
There are edge deals that are likely going to get done. TJ. Watt,
Aiden Hutchinson.

Speaker 4 (15:21):
I wouldn't be surprised if this one ended up happening.

Speaker 3 (15:24):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (15:25):
I'm not going to say you an hour before kickoff
like Dak Prescott, but at least closer to the start
of the season.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
Mike, that's it all right, We're moving on. Thank you, Jameson,
You're back.

Speaker 7 (15:37):
What I'm dealing with it here? You know, it's the
off season.

Speaker 8 (15:40):
You've got paint going on, and God speed you got
if we can pan over here, it's just trying to focus, guys, trying.

Speaker 7 (15:48):
To be the woman of the house.

Speaker 3 (15:50):
They're shocking.

Speaker 12 (15:51):
They drop eight into coverage, touchdown.

Speaker 3 (15:58):
Shut out of the pocket, He's.

Speaker 13 (16:01):
Gonna run for it.

Speaker 14 (16:02):
Domes summer solidity and sold for a level touchdown.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
Oh, it's just a couple of twenty three touchdown passes
for Tyler Shuck, the Louisville comeback player of the Year.
At a collar bone and had a fibula injury over
the last couple of years before this past season, came
back and again through for more than three thousand yards
in those twenty three touchdowns, and now the crowning achievement
of his career, joining the Insiders here on NFL Network

(16:29):
with me Ian Rapper or with me my double any
In Rappaport Tyler Shuck. Tyler, how are things going the
pre draft process, especially for a quarterback. Everybody wants to
talk about you, guys. How you're handling these last couple
of weeks.

Speaker 15 (16:43):
Man, it's been a lot of fun. I've just been
enjoying it. Been getting my frequent flyer miles in for sure.
Been enjoying the whole process kind of just it's been surreal.
The Senior Bowl, combine pro to you know, workouts, visits,
It's it's been a dream. And you know, like I said,
this whole journey, it's just gave me a lot of
great perspective and just been enjoying it.

Speaker 6 (17:04):
Tyler, good seeing you again.

Speaker 4 (17:06):
By the way, Mike, me and Tyler hung out in
Indy at Saying almost had a lovely dinner. You were
not invited, So Tyer, good to see you again. Of
course I want to get to you mentioned some of
those work up. You mentioned some of those workouts and
visits from what I understand you worked out for the
Browns today. I know there's been some others and there's
been a bunch of visits. Take me through what it

(17:27):
has been like and what sense you get from teams
on how interested they are.

Speaker 15 (17:34):
Yeah, I've had a couple of workouts. It's been going
really well the process so far. But I've been kind
of swarned to see you receipt by some of these teams.
To not kind of divulge into super details, but I've
been really enjoying it, just so far getting to know
all these coaches and I'm just really looking for towards
the end of this month, and the process has been great,
just kind of just trying to increase and really just

(17:54):
give people to know who I am. And I think
that's kind of being the biggest thing with this whole
journey is just you know, watching the film and being
able to talk ball and it's just been my favorite part.

Speaker 2 (18:04):
You've shown the ability to move a little bit over
your career. I think when you seem like when you.

Speaker 1 (18:09):
Have to force it was it four six four forty
at the combine, if I'm not mistaken, Do you think
you opened some.

Speaker 13 (18:15):
Four six three official?

Speaker 2 (18:17):
There you go?

Speaker 6 (18:18):
There we go.

Speaker 1 (18:20):
Do you think you open some eyes with that number?
You think that helps your h your draft status?

Speaker 3 (18:25):
There?

Speaker 13 (18:26):
Man? I hope, so, I hope.

Speaker 15 (18:27):
So that's definitely something I did in my past career
at Oregon, at Texas Tech, was running a lot of
QP power encounter. Got to play in a pro style
offense this past year at Louisville, So it's in the
bag for sure. But yeah, I was just I didn't
think I was going to run that fast. I was like,
if I could beat Josh Allen at four seven something,
I'll be fine and then end up running that.

Speaker 13 (18:46):
So that's why I was kind of celebrating a little bit.
How to get the people going.

Speaker 4 (18:51):
You mentioned people learning who you are. Obviously, if you
follow college football, everybody knows who you are.

Speaker 6 (18:57):
It's it's no secret.

Speaker 4 (18:58):
In the NFL, you're name has been much more I
would say under the radar. And you know, there's sort
of the old adage in draft coverage, like people don't
really shoot up boards. That's sort of a media creation.
It feels like you really have. It feels like you are,
at least in the conversation to be the third or
fourth quarterback taken.

Speaker 6 (19:17):
Where do you see your draft spot?

Speaker 4 (19:19):
And I guess as far as like mock drafts and
stuff go, how much have you watched all that?

Speaker 15 (19:24):
Yeah, I don't necessarily pay attention to specific you know, mocks.
And I think my whole thing throughout this whole process
is obviously my ability to kind of talk about what
we did offensively. I played in five six different offenses,
and I've been adaptable in every single place that I've
been and competing and starting, and I think, just like
you said, the unknowness is just because I've been written
off just from bone breaks and some injuries, and it's

(19:46):
unfortunate timing. But I think once you kind of get
past it and we can kind of just look at
what I've been able to do when playing, and I
think how park can continue to grow. You know, I'm
an older guy, but it hasn't really come up with
the teams, and they just kind of see that to
continued development and continue to grow throughout the process. And
that's been, you know, the best part that I've been
trying to convey.

Speaker 2 (20:07):
You just hit on it.

Speaker 1 (20:07):
I know you've been asked about it being an older
guy seven years total of your college experience put all together,
but you had the injuries. There was a lot of
factors at play there.

Speaker 2 (20:16):
Do you think like that helps you?

Speaker 1 (20:18):
I mean, you know you certainly have more experience at
that level in a few places, like if you are
asked about it, how do you spin that into a positive?

Speaker 13 (20:26):
No doubt?

Speaker 15 (20:27):
I mean, I think point blanket is a positive just
because I'm so much more mentally prepared to handle the
things that can happen in the NFL. You know, I've
been a backup to Justin Herbert before you know, I've
dealt with lack of confidence and being being you know,
transferring to a different school. I've been injured, I've been MVP,
I've been booed, I've been kind of all these things,
and I've been able to kind of stay true to
it and grow and continue to get better. And I

(20:48):
think that's I think a lot of the things that
teams are looking for. And I think you got guys
who are signing, you know, new contracts or playing you know.

Speaker 13 (20:55):
Well into their late thirties. And that's ten twelve years.

Speaker 15 (20:57):
From now for me, So to think that you know,
I've capped out at this spot is is beyond me
at this point.

Speaker 13 (21:03):
I know there's so much more to go.

Speaker 15 (21:05):
And I think at this point, you know, for me,
I'm a safety blanket. I can come I feel like
I can come in and start right now at any
program and go play tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (21:15):
All right.

Speaker 4 (21:16):
One thing about you that's a little different from I
think a lot of players. As you're married, been married
for your your wife, Jordan, we have seen plenty on
social media. We have seen I mean, that's that's some
pretty good strength and agility right there. We have seen
you styling at the Kentucky Derby, which, by the way,
I get to get my suit made for for next month.

Speaker 6 (21:34):
Perhaps I will see you there. Uh what has that?

Speaker 15 (21:37):
There?

Speaker 6 (21:37):
We go?

Speaker 4 (21:38):
I mean that's her Hat's nice? No hat for you
to want to mess up the hair. That's kind of
my program as well. Uh what kind of impact has
marriage has she had on on you?

Speaker 6 (21:49):
And uh? Kind of your journey going forward?

Speaker 3 (21:51):
Oh?

Speaker 15 (21:52):
Man, I would not be here without her, just from
just help me get through every single part of the journey,
you know, through injuries. You know, she played soccer at
Agan and just what she does on a daily basis.
You know, if you met you think me, you know,
as outgoing and kind of a go get her you,
you would often have to meet her. Man, She's a beast.
She keeps me fired up every single day and she

(22:12):
gets it for sure. So I know she's in for
the long haul. And I think everybody, every coach and
and you know agent and and an executive doesn't matter,
has been pretty blown away. But I'm just looking forward
to the process to to keep going with her and
and hopefully the journey is just beginning.

Speaker 2 (22:28):
That's awesome.

Speaker 1 (22:29):
Congratulations to the both of you. You're right the journey
is just beginning for you personally and professionally.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
We appreciate your time. We're looking forward, uh to see him.

Speaker 1 (22:38):
Plenty of you coming forward, moving forward, and if you
see Rappaport at the derby, just just go the other way.

Speaker 2 (22:44):
One dinner with him is plenty Tyler.

Speaker 15 (22:47):
No, we'll make it happen, for sure. I got some
connects still back in Louisville and Kentucky.

Speaker 13 (22:51):
So well, well we'll.

Speaker 6 (22:53):
Probably Joey Wagner, I'm sure.

Speaker 1 (22:55):
Yeah, he's one of them. One all right, well now
I'm in. Now you got two for the price of one, Tyler.
We appreciate your time. Best of luck to you racking
up all those frequent flyer miles with these business with team.

Speaker 2 (23:08):
Good luck, good luck as we get closer to the draft.

Speaker 13 (23:10):
Now, thank you, guys. I appreciate you.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
Awesome Tyler Shuck.

Speaker 1 (23:15):
I'm gonna hear his name called early in this draft
coming up.

Speaker 2 (23:19):
Michael Pennix.

Speaker 1 (23:19):
We heard that name called early last year and it's
led to a few things in Atlanta.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
We're gonna talk about that coming up with our guy
Cameron wolf New today.

Speaker 1 (23:37):
And there was plenty of it, you know, Smith and
the Raiders, agreeing on a two year contract extension eighty
five point five that's the max value of the deal
seventy five million to bring Smith under contract with Las
Vegas for the next three years. Joe Milton now a
member of the Dallas Cowboys. Milton and A seven going

(23:58):
to Dallas in exchange for a five headed back to
New England for the guy who was a popular backup
last year. Showed the ability to do a number of
things as you're seeing here on what we call this
b roll right here. I think this is the throw
on the run that's pretty nice for Joe Milton after
a bunch of scrambling here. So there is ability and
the Cowboys want to tap into it as a backup

(24:19):
for Dak Prescott. Milton no longer the backup to this
guy Drake May who was taking third overall last year,
and the Patriots liked what they saw on his rookie year,
just trying to surround him.

Speaker 2 (24:29):
With some more talent.

Speaker 1 (24:31):
Josh McDaniels, the new offensive coordinator, already likes what he sees.
Using a word that we heard in Seinfeld in reference
to Jerry looking at the lines woman here, it.

Speaker 16 (24:39):
Is smitten by the young man in terms of just
his personality. You know, we've had an opportunity to spend
some time that has nothing to do with football with
one another, which I think, you know, has been great,
very beneficial and productive to just to get to know him,
who he is, what he's all about, what he cares about,

(25:00):
where he's coming from, his family and Michael, you know,
wedding plans, you know, all this stuff we've we've kind
of had an opportunity to talk about those kind of things. So,
you know, I think next week and beyond will be
super fun for me to really get to know him
from a football perspective and start teaching our terminology language

(25:21):
and seeing how he learns best and how he acclimates.

Speaker 2 (25:25):
But I couldn't be more excited about the young man
that we have.

Speaker 1 (25:32):
That was Marlee Matlin who Jerry was smitten with. She
was the lineswoman at the US Open and they had
to go to the party as the lip reader. It's
a great episode.

Speaker 2 (25:39):
Go watch it.

Speaker 1 (25:40):
We're still waiting to see how the episode for the
Falcons in twenty twenty five is going to play out.

Speaker 2 (25:45):
Kirk Cousins on.

Speaker 1 (25:46):
An episode of Quarterback Again this summer when that comes out,
will he still be a member of the Falcons. Here
is Arthur Blank with our Steve Weisch at the annual
meeting talking about that, you.

Speaker 11 (25:57):
Know, and his best interests would be to have an
opportuittunity to you know, test free agency. And I understood why.
He also understands that we've we have a contract and
we've paid him a great deal of money. He understands
that because he's really smart and economically and football why certainly.

(26:17):
So we understood our you know, our position as well.

Speaker 13 (26:21):
So it was it was a very.

Speaker 11 (26:24):
Very cordial, good listening conversation. I did most of the listening, uh,
he did some, uh, And we ended up, you know,
being in a good place, I think, And we'll see.

Speaker 6 (26:36):
We will see.

Speaker 4 (26:37):
Indeed, still plenty to be determined there as far as
the status of Kirk Cousins, whether or not he will
actually for real be the backup to the Atlanta Falcons
this season, or whether or not the Falcons will end.

Speaker 6 (26:48):
Up trading him.

Speaker 4 (26:49):
Kim Wolf, Welcome into the Insiders. You were there in
Palm Beach hanging out with us. You heard plenty from
people all across the NFL. Let's focus in though on
the Falcons right now. Blank mentioned Cousins, take me inside
their starting quarterback. What do they expect from Michael Pennox
in year two?

Speaker 14 (27:08):
Well, yeah, And I was talking to Raheem Morris and
his coach's morning session at wes Palm, and he got
a bout eight straight questions about Kirk Cousins, And finally
he was asked about his starter, Michael Pennix, and his
eyes kind of lit up. He said, I can't wait
to talk to Michael Penix about his development plan. He said,
we plan to get former quarterbacks in his ear working

(27:28):
with him, including Matt Ryan, to get him through the
process of what it's like going through a whole offseason
as a starter. He said, I want to know what
his arm routine is. I want to know what he's eating,
where he's traveling, how many days a week he's working out,
because we think this guy has so much promise, so
much poise. He started just three games last year, but
they were impressed enough that he is the no doubt
starter going into this year. So they think they found

(27:51):
their franchise quarterback here and they want to build from him.
And so he also thinks that his maturity is why
they're comfortable leaving the Kirk Cousins situation and a bit
of a limbo as it is right now. They don't
think that Michael Pennis will be disturbed if they show
into OTAs in a couple of weeks and Kirk Cousins
is still on the roster. And when Morris talked about
that situation, he said, we don't expect Kirk Cousins to

(28:13):
show up for OTA, so OTA's will be focused on
Michael Pennocks, and at some point, whether that's prior to
the draft, during the draft, after the draft, we're open
for that trade opportunity for Kirk Cousins if it makes sense.
The team that I heard a lot about throughout the
last few weeks and then league meetings has been to
Cleveland Browns. They could be one of a few teams
that don't have the starting quarterback at the draft or
after the draft, so that could be finished soon. But

(28:35):
for the Falcons, regardless of how the Kirk Cousins situation
goes out, they're all in on developing their quarterback, Michael Pennocks,
who they think can be a star.

Speaker 4 (28:45):
Yeah, I'm sure there are questions cam about Michael Pennix,
just because there are a questions about every young quarterback.
We want some of those throws, especially one down the
red zone. I believe that was Pitts Meghan the guy.
You're like, wooh, this guy's got something. The Tennessee Titans
would like to be in that position next year or
in the near future. Obviously have the number one overall
pick of not yet firmly decided what they are going

(29:06):
to do with it.

Speaker 6 (29:07):
Where does it all stand for Tennessee?

Speaker 14 (29:10):
What I understand, the Titans are in step three of
their three step process. Their general manager of Mike Borganzi,
Chad Brinker, their president.

Speaker 2 (29:17):
They've been really clear of going through the process.

Speaker 14 (29:20):
And so while one person described it to me as
cam Ward as the leader in the clubhouse for golf phrases,
maybe he's three or four strokes up going into the
final hole. There's no complete final decision yet and a
big part of the reason is there's still teams trying
to knock on their doors seeing what could we try
to trade forward to potentially get up to number one.
And one of those teams, in New York Giants, has

(29:41):
been consistent throughout the process. I saw their general manager
Joe Shane talking with Borganzi at the breakers at West Palm,
having one of those conversations that he had again at
the pro day. But they signed Russell Wilson. There's obviously
anticipating the Titans having control and potentially making that pick,
but their process right now is to go to colleg
Dolrado tomorrow part of their staff. You know, as you

(30:03):
report Ian, you won't see Chad Brinker or their head
coach Brian Callahan, but they will have that private workout
April ninth. One thing I did find out that was
interesting throughout the cam War process, their owner, Amy Adams
Trunk visited the Miami private workout they had with cam Ward.
That's a little bit unusual for our owner and maybe
another sign of just how interested they are in cam

(30:24):
Ward as this process goes on.

Speaker 6 (30:27):
That is extremely interesting.

Speaker 4 (30:29):
No firm decision from the Titans yet, but you start
to put the pieces together. Cam That's a pretty interesting one. Obviously,
more from you at some point soon. You love having
you on the Insiders, but for now you're done.

Speaker 3 (30:41):
Mike.

Speaker 1 (30:44):
It's a special edition A Path to the Draft tomorrow
live from Colorado's Showcase. Some schools call it a pro day.
Colorado calls it a showcase. We'll show you every throw
from Shadora Sanders workout tomorrow two thirty pm Eastern, because
we're already on the land. Sera lines draft three point oh.
I don't know how many point ohs we're gonna get.
Maybe i'll ask him in just the second here, but

(31:05):
here's the what you see. Shadora Sanders not in the
top ten for Lance Zerline. You want to find out
where he is, you got to go to NFL dot
com backslash zer Line. Let's talk high. Lance, Welcome, how
are we doing. Let's talk about number two. I'm dual
Carter D one more to go, one more to go,

(31:25):
just one more to go, one more to go. You
better get ready to get it right. Lance, better fit
for the Browns at number two. I'll du a Carter
or Travis Hunter.

Speaker 6 (31:34):
I don't think you can go wrong.

Speaker 2 (31:36):
I personally, I go with Rush.

Speaker 12 (31:38):
You know, I don't think you're gonna be able to
put your I don't think you're gonna be able to
put your offense together right away. So for me, I
would rather, you know, focus on Rush be able to
impact the other team's offense. And I think when you
add abdual Carter along with Miles spearit you put some serious,
serious heat on the pocket and it really creates a
lot of problems for the offensive coordinator. In the offensive line,

(32:00):
you got to figure out how you're going to protect
your quarterback.

Speaker 3 (32:02):
So you know the best way to win for them.

Speaker 12 (32:04):
They're not going to have firepower right off the battle offensively,
even if they go out and get Kirk Cousins. What
you guys talked about earlier in the segment, I think
the best way for them to be competitive this year
is to go find a piece that can help you
become a dominant pass rush team, and that player is Abdul.

Speaker 1 (32:19):
Cart I mentioned that you didn't have shot or Sanders
in your top ten. I told him to go to
NFL dot com to see where you've got him going.
You can tell them if you want here, though, because
I want to ask you about the next quarterback off
the board after cam Ward at number one.

Speaker 12 (32:35):
So you know, I've got Cleveland trading up. They've got
a couple of picks in the third round. I've got
them moving up in the draft. However, they choose to
do it with the thirty third pick, moving up and
trading with Minnesota. There's a link between the two general
managers with Cleveland and Minnesota, so that would make some
sense to make a phone call there moving up.

Speaker 3 (32:52):
To twenty fourth. I think Cam.

Speaker 12 (32:54):
I think when you look at shad Or Sanders, it
wouldn't surprise me if he fell a little bit. I
haven't really considered him as a second or third pick personally.
I know it's possible, but it's looking less and less
like likely that. I think it's the Raiders, and once
you get past the Raiders, it really starts to dip
until you get to you know, the Steelers, which have
their own question mark. But you know, for me, it's

(33:15):
just about it's not really about where should Or Sanders goes.
It's about what's around him and how patient a team
is with putting, you know, the right pieces around him.

Speaker 2 (33:25):
I think he's a good game manager.

Speaker 12 (33:26):
He's very accurate, he's very poised, he makes good decisions
a lot of the time, and I think there's a
chance for him to be a good NFL starter if
the timing and the pacing is proper. And I think
that's something that believe it or not, I think Cleveland
is actually prepared to do even if it means he sits,
you know, for this year. But I think if you
go to Cleveland in a trade up, he has a

(33:47):
chance to come in and compete for our starting job right
away with Kenny Pickett.

Speaker 1 (33:52):
One of the questions to Brian Dable at the annual
meeting Giants at number three was at number three, d
you have to have a guy who's going to be
an immediate contributor.

Speaker 2 (34:00):
Basically, the question is are you taking.

Speaker 1 (34:02):
Shadors Sanders at number three because potentially he could be sitting,
especially with who they signed in free agency. So yeah,
in your scenario at number twenty four, he sits a
little bit not as much pressure given that draft position,
for sure. So we'll see how it plays out three
point twenty four. Somewhere in between we shall see first
wide receiver off the board. I'm gonna screw up his
name again, Lanty are great at pronunciations. Tetoria McMillan or

(34:26):
Matthew Golden. How do you say his first name again?

Speaker 12 (34:28):
TETSAROA Tetsaro mc millan, We called tet McMillan, or we
call t mac. Just lock that in for the rest
of the draft Tech McMillan and t mac and you're good.
It's Tetaro McMillan and Matthew Golden. You know, this is
really a case of what flavor ice cream do you want?
They're two very different types of wide receivers for the
Dallas Cowboys. I think that's where the first quarter of
the first wide receiver could come off the board and

(34:50):
it could be a decision between you know, having a
guy who is a player can who can run a
lot of different routes, which is McMillan. He's got the
ability to win in the air above the rammis. He's
the best in this draft. As you'll see in all
the highlight films, it's all about uh, you know, ballwin.
But with Matthew Golden, it's really been about the ascension.
It's about his speed, ability to stretch the field, his

(35:11):
ability to make plays on the move and then after
the catch as well. He's much more dynamic as an
off as an athlete, more so than McMillan. But what
really gives you is that long wide catch radius and
a chance to be a big X receiver.

Speaker 6 (35:25):
So two very different options.

Speaker 12 (35:26):
I've got a feeling Golden might be the first one
off the board, though after.

Speaker 1 (35:29):
His comment, Yeah, McMillan ran at his pro day. Some
people are not necessarily impressed with that number there, even
though they tried to they tried to goose it.

Speaker 9 (35:39):
You know, it.

Speaker 3 (35:42):
Was official.

Speaker 12 (35:44):
Fine, that's fast enough. We're not worried about his forty fives. Elough,
that's right.

Speaker 3 (35:52):
Team is fast enough.

Speaker 2 (35:55):
T Mac.

Speaker 1 (35:55):
You're good to go. Thank you, Elzer. And this is
mgar signing off well for this segment.

Speaker 4 (35:59):

let's talk to our good buddy, Michael Foyer.

Speaker 6 (36:29):
Welcome to the Insider's Folio.

Speaker 4 (36:31):
We're gonna talk to you about draft, We're gonna talk
to you about fantasy. We're gonna put it all together because,
as the people know, the proud and loyal viewers of
our show, they know you are our fantasy experts. Here's
what I want you to do. I want you to
break down some of these rookies that are common. I
want you to detail their fantasy impact. And let's just
say you can break it into categories. Oh, I don't know,

(36:52):
I'll pick one. Give me some high end rookies who
will make a huge impact this season.

Speaker 3 (36:59):
Look much like our mets is.

Speaker 17 (37:01):
Juan Soto Ashin Genti is a generational player, at least
I believe he is. He is the type of back
who can handle three hundred plus touches at the NFL level.
He is explosive, he's physical. He excels as an outside
zone runner. One hundred and fifty eight misstackles force last
year by far the most in the PFF ERA. The

(37:22):
previous high was one oh five in the right spot.
He could be in Fantasy RB one like rookie year
Zeke Saquon or Bijon Robinson.

Speaker 2 (37:30):
And then, speaking of.

Speaker 3 (37:31):
Generational Travis Hunter.

Speaker 17 (37:33):
When you watch him play wide receiver, the speed, jumps out,
good hands.

Speaker 3 (37:37):
He can win both downfield or after the catch.

Speaker 17 (37:40):
I believe he is the best wide receiver in this
class and the only true alpha wide receiver one, and
he did this all while being a primarily a cornerback
in college. Depends where he goes and how the team
wants to use him. But if he plays wide receiver
full time, Top twenty upside is there for him. Just
some concerns on how his body holds up.

Speaker 6 (37:58):
All right, those are the high end guy. Give me
the mid round guys in your forecast.

Speaker 17 (38:04):
Cam Skataboo is someone I'm really excited for fantasy purposes.
He has amazing contact balance one hundred and five misstackles
force would have tied the record if Genti did and exists.
I know some people might have speed concerns. I don't
have nearly as many with him. He could still put
up chunk plays. But the reason I like him he
is the best receiving running back in this class, and
not just like dump offs. He is a legit downfield weapon.

(38:27):
As a pass catcher. He reminds me of a better
pass catching Kyrien Williams three down back potential and could
excel in a PPR world. And then Luther Burden smooth
route runner, smooth with the ball in his hands. He's
a very good athlete who could win after the catch.
I know he's better in the slot, but you're gonna
hear that you have to generate touches for him. I
don't necessarily agree. I think he can get open downfield.

(38:49):
It's just in college the quarterback had some issues getting
him the ball there. So I think he is the
upside to be this year's like breakout rookie wide receiver
they could get in the later rounds.

Speaker 6 (39:00):
So we've done high end, we've done mid round. Give
me your.

Speaker 3 (39:03):
Sleepers, Jalen Milroe, because what do we love in fantasy
football when it comes to quarterbacks?

Speaker 17 (39:09):
Once who can run and he had thirty three career
rushing touchdowns, including twenty last season. He has a strong arm,
although he does need some work as a passer. Malik
Willis is a name that came to mind when watching him,
but I think his ceiling is like a Justin Fields
type And even if he doesn't start right away, if
the starter missed time or something like that, he could

(39:30):
be a really appealing fantasy option. And then Kyle Williams
out of Washington State speed jumps out immediately. He could
turn a screen into a big chunk play. Due to
his yak ability, he could win after the catch and
has the speed to get behind a secondary. While he
profiles more as a number two in the NFL, there's
a lot of big plays in his profiles. So that

(39:51):
is what we want for fantasy, especially if you play
in something like a best ball think like Marvin Mins.
A lot of boom er bus week to week maybe,
but high upside plays because of how fast and how
much burst.

Speaker 3 (40:02):
He has.

Speaker 4 (40:04):
High upside, just like our good friend Michael Foyer Fourial.

Speaker 6 (40:07):
Thanks for bringing it.

Speaker 4 (40:09):
As always, we'll be talking to you soon as we
continue to break down the NFL.

Speaker 6 (40:13):
Draft and all the other factors around him.

Speaker 4 (40:17):
The New York Giants, their quarterback room has become, i
don't know, one of the most interesting in the NFL.

Speaker 6 (40:21):
Let's dig deeper into it.

Speaker 4 (40:23):
Brian Daball, we'll talk on Russell Wilson and the QB room.

Speaker 13 (40:27):
I'm coming up.

Speaker 2 (40:37):
Russell Wilson. Yeah, he made it official.

Speaker 1 (40:39):
He is now the giants expected starting quarterback, with Jamis
Winston behind him and Tommy DeVito behind him and potentially
a quarterback being added in the draft. Here's Brian Daveall
talking about the current quarterback room at the annual meeting
with our Judy Batista.

Speaker 18 (40:54):
You know, we've done a lot of work on all
these quarterbacks, pre adging quarterbacks, college quarterbacks. Again, happy to
have I'd say both Russ and Jamis in the quarterback room.

Speaker 13 (41:06):
Look forward to working with them.

Speaker 18 (41:07):
They've they've had quite a bit experience in this league,
and look forward to to getting them into building here
on April twenty first and digging into the playbook and
all the things you need to do with the quarterback.
I'd say, we're just focused on getting ready to go
here in the next couple of weeks. Happy with both
of the additions that we made, along with the other
editions that we've we've made. You know, again, forty percent

(41:29):
of the team usually is different at this time of
the year from last year. So got a lot of
work to do, but two guys that I look forward
to working with. Yeah, I think anything is on the table.
You know, we're still going through that process a few
weeks out, but you know, we're we're doing a lot
of work on you know, not just the quarterbacks but
but all the players. So you know, we'll do what
we think is best for the football team. But I

(41:51):
wouldn't rule anything out.

Speaker 1 (41:53):
I did a podcast out in Arizona, and I said
trade McBride is close to a deal with the Cardinals.

Speaker 2 (41:57):
We tweeted out the clip.

Speaker 1 (41:58):
And about thirty seconds later, the Cardinals announced the extension.

Speaker 2 (42:02):
Ian, you got the details on this one.

Speaker 4 (42:05):
A big time extension for Trey McBride, one of the
best young tight ends in the NFL, now the highest
paid tight end in the NFL. He gets a full year,
seventy six million dollar deal. Knowingder Kyler Murray and Trey
McBride are so happy. Forty three million dollars guaranteed, thirty
two point five million dollars fully guaranteed. That is nineteen
million dollars per year based on new money. I asked

(42:28):
you this, if he is worth nineteen, is George Kittle
worth twenty for the forty nine ers when he gets
his extension.

Speaker 6 (42:35):
It's a pretty good question for you, Mike.

Speaker 1 (42:37):
What do you think potentially this tight end market needed
a boost in recent years?

Speaker 2 (42:40):
They just got one.

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

I’m Jay Shetty host of On Purpose the worlds #1 Mental Health podcast and I’m so grateful you found us. I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
