Speaker 1 (00:01):
For those about Tobrock, we salute you, Hurty. Good time
to get QB one back in action. For the forty
nine ers with an NFC West engagement in Arizona ahead,
Omaruiz will be here to tell you how teammates are
reacting to their leader's imminent return. Jamison Williams didn't go anywhere,
but somehow it kind of feels like he's back too.

(00:23):
The Lion speedy receiver joins the show tonight to talk
about how that offense got back on track and if
things could get even more explosive in Detroit. The NFL's
international slate ends on Sunday with perhaps the most scenic
setting yet, Dolphins Commanders in Madrid, where our Cameron Wolf
is standing by to set the scene for El Classical Americano.

(00:46):
Welcome Inside with the Insiders, presented by Progressive Insurance, alongside
Ian Rappaport and Mike Garafalo. I'm Tom Pelsero and I've
brushed up on my Spanish for Nothing.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Week eleven is off and running.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
We will get to all the fallout from the Patriots'
latest win, the Jets getting back on the losing side
of things. But first we got a lot of injuries
to cover leading up to Sunday. We start out with
forty nine Ers quarterback Brock Perty, who is officially off
the injury report.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
That's right.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
He will start on Sunday against the Cardinals, his first
game action since he last attempted to return in Week
four only to aggravate his turf toe injury. Perty told
reporters he feels healthy and is excited to be back.
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson also good to go after missing
practice Wednesday because of knee Sorenus full participant in practice

(01:38):
Thursday and Friday, no game designation. Lamar will start on
Sunday against the Browns.

Speaker 4 (01:43):
Mike Jackson Dart progressing through that concussion protocol, according to
interim head coach Mike Kafka, just not quick enough to
be the starter on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
It's going to be Jamis Winston.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
But a good sign that Dart is progressing and they
want to get him back on the field, and a
big part of Kafka's day here is going to be
what he and the offensive staff can do with Dart
to make him successful and keep him healthy down the stretch. Meantime,
it's Jamis Winston. Like I said, in the greatest city
in the world, and by that we mean East Rutherford,
New Jersey.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
CJ.

Speaker 4 (02:14):
Stroud ruled out with a concussion. It will be the
second straight game for Davis Mills. Stroud still experiencing some symptoms,
not progressing again just like Dart fast enough through the
concussion protocols Sony Mills against the Titans.

Speaker 5 (02:27):
In the big time matchup for the Detroit Lines against
the Philadelphia Eagles, Sam Laporta not going to participate. He's
been dealing with a back injury. Was not able to
practice at all this week. He has been ruled out.
You know, there was a time when I had Sam
Laporta on my fantasy team. I ended up dropping him
for iay likely terrible, terrible decision.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
Anyway, He's not going to play this week.

Speaker 5 (02:49):
In other tight end news, the Buffalo Bills in their
Big Time showdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they are
not going to have Dalton Kincave, one of their really
good tight ends. He's with what I understand to be
a Grade two hamstring injury, which means he's not only
out this week, could miss potentially other days. Was not
able to practice at all this week, so the Bills

(03:10):
tom a little shorthanded heading into their showdown on Sunday.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Junior questionable for a big
game for them against the Chargers this weekend. Still no
Bucky Irving or Chris Godwin for the Bucks though they
did return to practice this week. Want to keep an
eye on JK. Dobbins. That foot injury we are told
is something significant, could be a wild potentially an ir
stint for JK. Dobbins who will not play on Sunday

(03:36):
in a big game for Denver against the Chiefs. Let's
welcome in our Omar Owiz to the conversation as we
speak about Brock Party, a team that Omar knows very well.
Omar he played in Week one, he played in Week four,
he got.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
Hurt in both those games.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
It seems like this is the healthiest Rock Party we
will have seen literally the entire season. What are they
saying in that locker room right now about he's return
and the journey to get here.

Speaker 6 (04:02):
Yeah, they're excited to have him back. Tom and Brock Purty,
like you mentioned, says he's healthy. He's looking forward to
these last seven games of the season, but they did
have to make sure that Brock Purdy had his full.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
Range of mobility.

Speaker 6 (04:14):
It is his unscripted playmaking ability that has him playing
at elite level when he is at his best as
well as he's run the Kyle Shanahan system. It is
his ability to make plays with his feet out of
the pocket, put balls on the money like we see
right here, and they're excited to have that back now.
They had to make sure that he had that full range,
and even though he did reaggravate the injury in Week four,

(04:37):
he says that going into this one, he is not
any more concerned about reaggravating that toe injury this time,
any more than he is reaggravating the.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
Other foot or injuring that.

Speaker 6 (04:47):
So he's going into this one with a clear mind
and has appreciation for what mac Jones did to get
them to this point.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
Still in the.

Speaker 6 (04:55):
Playoff hunt, the forty nine ers looking forward a second
half charge here with Brock pretty once again leading the way.

Speaker 5 (05:01):
Yeah, the Matt Jones situation was really a fascinating part
of this. You know, Kyle Shannan being very very clear
there is no quarterback controversy. He has full confidence that
Rock Perdy can be the guy when fully healthy. I
don't know if he's fully healthy now, but certainly as
healthy as he has been in quite a while. But
what MATC Jones did for himself this year and for
the forty nine ers was re established himself as a

(05:21):
starting quarterback that can win games. And he is two
years left on his contract, two years total on his contract,
one year left with the forty nine Ers certainly wonder
if they will end up trading him this offseason.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
They are going to have interest. There are going to be.

Speaker 5 (05:36):
Teams, many many teams in what could be a lackluster
quarterback draft to need a guy, and mac Jones just showed,
as he did as a rookie, that he is a guy.
And the forty nine ers have left this with really
what every team wants going into any.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
Significant injury situation.

Speaker 5 (05:51):
They want to still be alive when their starter comes back,
and they want to know that the guys behind them
can really play and keep them afloat exactly what happened
for the San Francisco forty nine Ers.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
Still a good sign that brought us back.

Speaker 4 (06:04):
And yes, a great sign for Brock that Ricky Piersoll
is back as well. He was so dynamic early in
the season, the production that he was putting up. He
had a PCL injury. Now you got to be careful
with those, and the forty nine ers were in this case.
They didn't put them on injury reserve. Yet he missed
what was in six games, I believe, so it was
longer than the IR stint potentially to put him on IR.

(06:24):
So that was an indication that they took their time
with this one. And when you do take your time
and you strengthen it, you make sure that the guy
is all the way back. That usually leads to less
of a reaggravation or other injuries as well. And as
good as he is this early in his career, you
certainly want to take the conservative approach. They'll have to
watch him a little bit this Sunday, but certainly he'll
be able to show them on the field what he's

(06:46):
capable of doing. Maybe they can give him a little
bit more as he goes on throughout the game. Again,
that production back on the field great for whoever the
quarterback is.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
This week, it being brock perty.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
A couple of NFC West showdowns ahead in Week eleven,
which kicked off last night with an AFC showdown. Sure
we'll call it a showdown the Patriots against Steve Jets.
Drake May and the Patriots, trying to build on their
best start since twenty nineteen, did not take long.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
Second quarter.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
Travion Henderson, you'll hear that name a lot with the
full push. That's not a touch push, that's the whole
body push that's been around forever.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
Patriots tied up seven to two. Seven very next drive, Drake.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
May's stepping up to avoid some pressure and finds Mac
Hollins over the middle. That's a nineteen yard gain to Mac,
who has certainly made an impact, not just with his
entrances in costumes, but also on the field. Take another look,
May doing a great job maneuvering through traffic eleven out
of eleven to start that game. Two plays later, who

(07:42):
you guessed it? Travion Henderson into the end zone. That
is a seven yard touchdown. Joining Curtis Martin the Hall
of Famer. Is the only Patriots rookies with multiple touchdown
to consecutive games. And he was not done. Third quarter now,
Patriots still up fourteen to seven. Drake May This was
maybe the play of the night in the touch over
two defenders to Stefan DAGs who went over one hundred yards. Again,

(08:04):
take another look at that one. There a little basketball
pass from a guy who's got a lot in his
family history. And one more time, why not Trey Von
Henderson into the end zone again. Patriots go on to
win twenty seven to fourteen, eight wins in a row
for New England by NFL rule.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
Both coaches spoke after the game.

Speaker 7 (08:24):
I would say is performmans in general has been you
know what we expect, and we have high expectations for
Drake has high expectations for himself. Phil continue to improve
and know that he'll stay humble through this all. And
like I told him, I'm excited we're nine and two.

Speaker 8 (08:42):
I'm excited that I don't have to see him till Monday.

Speaker 9 (08:44):
I have very high standards for our team in general.
That's the one thing that we talk about quite a bit.
And I will never go away from those standards. And
the players know that, and they have bought into that
and they know that too. And when I say details
and discipline again, I'm not just talking about the players.
I'm talking about us as coach. This is not a
one way street where everything is on the players, no
coaches involved in that too.

Speaker 1 (09:05):
You go back up the last two wins, and Aaron
Glenn was not willing to commit postgame Mike to Justin
Fields as his starter. Now after a loss and one
in which the offense once again was stop and go, Sure,
seems like the clock may be ticking again on Fields
as the starter.

Speaker 4 (09:20):
Yes, and Aaron Glenn asked about it today, he didn't
want to commit to Justin Fields basically indicated that the
quarterback position is up for evaluation once again. Look, this
is a lost Jets season. We've known that probably for
quite some time at this point. But to me, it
just may signal the end of Justin Field's time as
a starter in the NFL, because we know what ownership
thinks with Whatdy Johnson and his comments about Justin Fields

(09:44):
at the NFL meeting in October.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
He's got ten million guaranteed next year. It's a proverbial.

Speaker 4 (09:50):
Drop in the bucket when it comes to the quarterback position.
They also have all that draft capital, which Ian you've mentioned.
We've mentioned here that they could possibly use it to
trade for a quarterback. So Fields could find himself elsewhere
in twenty twenty six as a backup, which, by the way,
would be a great number two quarterback. To have a
quarterback where let's say your starter's out, that's gonna give

(10:13):
the defense headaches out.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
Man, we got to deal with this guy's legs.

Speaker 4 (10:15):
So Justin Field's gonna be in this league for quite
some time if that's the last time we see him
as an unquestioned starter for a team. After that disappointing performance,
which by the way, could have been helped by a
d Mitchell making a catchdown the sideline and some other
guys as well.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
Wouldn't be surprised.

Speaker 5 (10:30):
Yeah, actually a bunch of drops. But the results are
what they are, just as they are for the Patriots.
And that being said, Drake May is very good. Drake
May is very good. Left the field with MVP chance yesterday.
What struck me about this one was really interesting was
Mike Grabel joined the Amazon Prime postgame show, which I'm
also on, by the way, lowering slippers and said something

(10:52):
that I had never really heard him say, which is
that I came here because of Drake and we're gonna
have a bunch of coach openings this year.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
We already have the Giants, we already have the Titans.

Speaker 5 (11:02):
Both of those, it seems, have players that are considered
to be franchise quarterbacks. Surely for cam Moore, but certainly
that is the thought. It's amazing how much quarterback matters.
I mean, Mike Rabel was a Patriots alum, won Super
Bowls for the Patriots, has close ties to the organization,
so close that they're rumors all last year about him
joining the Patriots. And still he came to the Patriots

(11:24):
because of Drake May. It is a partnership that is
working unbelievably well. They are looking like a team that
could potentially go deep into the playoffs. And just to me,
what stood out was just how important that coach quarterback
relationship is for future success.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
We've done somewhere around nine hundred episodes of this show.
It's very rare that we get a first Ian cutting
a promo for his appearance on a different network on
this show. No, definitely a new one. I'm so good
I get to read a promo now as well. Next
week Thursday Night Football on Prime Video as a rematch
to one of last year's most exciting This is this week,

(12:01):
the Buffalo Bills hope to avenge their last second loss
to the Houston Texas. It's the Bills and Texans and
that bozo Ian Rappaport on the pregame show kickoff Thursday
eight to fifteen pm.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
Eastern only on Prime Video. Get out of here this
week in Today, I should say, and as AJ Brown
and Jalen.

Speaker 4 (12:22):
Hurts on the Eagles turn, he had a conversation with
Eagles owner Jeffrey Lourie about frustrations from with the team
on Thursday that according to John Clark FROMNBC Sports Piladelphia,
who was at practice, big down was involved because of
course he is big doms involved in everything when it
comes to that organization. Not sure what the conversation with
the owner is going to do at this point, when

(12:42):
it's frustration is with the offense or the guy who's
running the offense at the quarterback position.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
But we'll see anyway.

Speaker 4 (12:51):
Time for good coverage presented by Progressive Insurance.

Speaker 3 (12:54):
The whole show's.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
Presented by Progressive Endurance. So we love you Progressive, we
love you Flow. Let's keep the flow the show going.
The Eagles secondary.

Speaker 4 (13:02):
Yeah, eight touchdown passes allowed this season tied for the
fewest in the NFL. VIC Fangio has got guys on
the back there. They've tried their best to upgrade the personnel.
They feel like they needed more to get Jay r Alexander.
He then retired, so they still feel like they can
get more back there. Yet they are performing extremely well.
A lot of their young guys on the back end,

(13:24):
including Cooper de Gene and what a big part of
the secondary he has been well.

Speaker 2 (13:28):
That secondary is gonna have to cover.

Speaker 4 (13:31):
A few guys, but namely this dynamic playmaker for the Lions.

Speaker 10 (13:36):
Golf throw again, does middle Jamo angling to the end
Z touchdown the tub Lions Jamelick at the end go
for six terrific work after the catch by number one
that time and the Lions starts his third quarter with
a big drive fourteen yards on the strike golf to william.

Speaker 2 (13:56):
Yeah, like a cheek code.

Speaker 4 (13:57):
That's Lions quarterback Jared Goff on wide receiver Jamison Williams.
I feel like we entered the cheek code to get
them as part of the Insiders here today, I rappaport.
Here is Jamison Williams joining us here on the Insiders.

Speaker 2 (14:11):
I gotta ask so you get the touchdown.

Speaker 4 (14:13):
The flip into the end zone, you got the block there, Like,
which one do you like better?

Speaker 2 (14:17):
Which one would you rather do?

Speaker 11 (14:19):
I think I got to pick the flut man. The
flip was the most exciting part about the night. The
only thing is I think I got a landy. That's
my only thing.

Speaker 5 (14:28):
I just gotta I was actually I was going to
ask you about the celebration, because you've got some good ones,
some memorable ones, some cost you a little bit of money.

Speaker 3 (14:37):
That can happen. But then the flips.

Speaker 5 (14:39):
So first of all, when you have a big play,
how quickly do you start thinking of the celebration? And
then two, I say this with all love and respect,
don't you think you have to get better at landing
flips to do them in games? Yeah?

Speaker 11 (14:52):
No, you know, look the second question, the first question
going to answer to the second question, I really don't
be knowing what I'm gonna do, So I just like
after school, I just do whatever.

Speaker 8 (15:03):
Come to my mind.

Speaker 11 (15:04):
And then the second like the second question, I didn't
know I was gonna flip me. So that's how I
got to the one yard line. That was like the
thing that just came to my line like this, and
I just did it, so you know, I'm gonna try
my best to landy. I feel like i got hired
enough to landy, so I'm gonna try to land it
soon enough.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
That is quite the quick reaction and the quick celebration.

Speaker 4 (15:26):
We can appreciate that jamis in this past week, Dan
Campbell calling the plays for you guys offensively, he said,
you know, we just want to switch some stuff up.
John Morton offensive coordinators still very much involved. What did
that do for you offensively? To know that the big
he had the readers on. That's how we knew he
was hit the readers on. Looking at his play.

Speaker 12 (15:43):
Chart, I think the game, you know, it was just
called a lot smooth.

Speaker 11 (15:47):
It was spread it out, well, everybody got a chance,
and you know, we just create explosiveness when our numbers
was called, and we got a lot of playmakers, which
makes it hard on the defensive coordinator and defensive players
out there, you know, to lock in because you got
a lot.

Speaker 12 (16:02):
Of playmakers to lock in. That's our main thing.

Speaker 8 (16:05):
Though.

Speaker 11 (16:05):
I think he just spreaded it out and you called
everybody number, and everybody was ready when they number was called.
So I think that was that was good about last week.

Speaker 5 (16:14):
It is a really, really star studded offense. I mean
there are big plays that can happen at any time,
which is why I think, at least for me, I'll say,
you guys are really fun to watch.

Speaker 3 (16:24):
Here's my question. When you get the.

Speaker 5 (16:26):
Call in the huddle, are you when you hear are
you okay? Like this is going to be sixty yards?
Like can you tell when a big play is coming
based on what the call is?

Speaker 2 (16:37):
In my head?

Speaker 11 (16:37):
When I heard a play card and I know it's mine,
I'm like, oh, yeah.

Speaker 12 (16:40):
It's about to it's about to go score.

Speaker 11 (16:42):
But even when like going to the other players know
we all encourage each other score. So that's why we
blocked down the field. We want every play to go
to a touchdown. The running back could extend a play,
or rob receiver could make one person missing. Every other
receiver is on they blocking wide receiver can get ya
can go school. So you know, that's why we try
to extend every play in the office aside running back

(17:04):
tighty end while receiving, everybody try to block in, you know,
lock in, so we can't create more explosives on our side.

Speaker 4 (17:12):
Jameson big game this week against the Eagles Sunday Night Football.
I don't think Detroit's been to Philadelphia in like six
seven years. I don't think we've even you have even
played the Eagles in your career.

Speaker 2 (17:23):
How excited are you for this game? Did I say
six to seven? Is that Yuan is doing that?

Speaker 4 (17:31):
It's like one of my kids, man, you know, it's
like working with one of my kids.

Speaker 2 (17:36):
I can't at six seven and I didn't realize it.
Stop stop, stop, all right?

Speaker 4 (17:41):
Sorry, So anyway, I don't think Detroit has gone to
Philadelphia in a number of years. I don't think you've
played them period. Get the six seven out of there.
How excited are you for this matchup? But also going
to Philadelphia? I think even your head coach was talking
about the atmosphere you're going to encounter it.

Speaker 11 (17:57):
I heard it's a you know, a real great not great,
but you know, you know a real good environment to
play in. I'm looking forward to going out there and playing.
You know, we we're looking forward to it. We played
in you know, some great environments like but like you said,
we never been out there and never got a chance
to see what their fans are about or you know,

(18:17):
what what the what the field is about playing on it?
You know, we're looking forward to going out there and
just playing our game. Hopefully we make a lot of
plays and you know, the crowd is a non factor
to us, and you know, we just go out there
and play and do us.

Speaker 5 (18:30):
I don't want to talk specifically about your quarterback because
he means he's obviously very good and you know you
can't hear you can't see him play without hearing the
Jared GoF Chance obviously someone who has loved dearly by
Lions fans.

Speaker 3 (18:42):
You get to see him every day, you get to
know him as a person.

Speaker 5 (18:45):
Has there been anything either surprising to you about Jared Goffer?
What's your best reason for why he has been able
to be so successful?

Speaker 11 (18:55):
I think he's just like he's the most detailed person
there is and that's how he got to be. You know,
playing with him and you know, playing in his offense,
we got to be the little things matter. You just
can't you know, you know how sometimes playmakers can go
out there and you know, be on, have something wrong,
but still make a play and go score or do
something like I think we got to advantage because you

(19:18):
know we're on the small details and we got playmakers
who can still go make plays. And it all come
come come down from him. To start with him. You know,
he gets us ready going from the spring. We do
workouts in the springtime, come through OTAs and camp, and
you know, we always got to get it one hundred
percent before we even go move on. So you know,

(19:39):
I think it's his precision and the way he moves
about things and go.

Speaker 12 (19:43):
Go with his football mentality.

Speaker 11 (19:45):
I love it about him, and you know, I wouldn't
want to play with another quarterback because you know, he
just loves the game and you know, you know how
he carries itself and how we win it, and you
know it's all because of him.

Speaker 12 (19:57):
A big shot out to him, man.

Speaker 4 (19:58):
Big shout out to him. Big bags and money to him.
He got that a little bit ago. You got yours.
I'm on Ross Saint Brown got his, Aiden, Hutchinson got
his recently Penay. So I'm probably missing a couple here
because your organization has done a great job of drafting guys,
developing him, and then the bill comes new, then you
got to get paid. Jamior Gibbs probably next this offseason.
Every time one of you guys gets a big contract.

(20:19):
Is there a celebration? Do you have to buy dinner?

Speaker 8 (20:21):
Like?

Speaker 2 (20:21):
How is this going? Because there's been so much of
that done for you guys.

Speaker 11 (20:25):
Now we haven't did anything, you know, we just congratulate
each other.

Speaker 12 (20:30):
I guess we congratulate.

Speaker 11 (20:32):
That's what happened when Saint got his, and that's what
happened when I got mine. I don't really know what
happened outside of the building. I'm not sure, but you know,
everybody gets congratulations and things like that, so I think
that was the biggest thing, you know, seeing love from
your brothers in you know, feeling the love from everybody else.

Speaker 4 (20:50):
Got a lot of a lot of money more coming
your way. I think I saw a billion dollars committed
to your core, which is good from a financial standpoint,
but also keeping guys together. And that's why you guys
have been successful and will continue to be. Jamison Williams,
best of luck to you in Philly this weekend to
you and all your guys.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
Looking forward to you guys playing down the stretch here.

Speaker 4 (21:09):
Thank you, I appreciate you and awesome six seven minutes
there with jamis ian Ian. I can see you. I
just sent you doing the stupid arm thing. How about
this matchup rams Seahawks NFC West, the battle for that division,
maybe even the battle for the NFC.

Speaker 2 (21:25):
Can't wait for this one. Ro O ma Rowi is
going to join us.

Speaker 4 (21:28):
Coming up to talk about the rams Seahawks clash.

Speaker 1 (21:33):
Injury updates around the NFL heading into the Sunday of
Week eleven, Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy, off the injury report,
is expected to play in a huge game on Sunday
against the Broncos. Andy Reid said Worthy just tweaked the
ankle in practice, no game status designation. He is good
to go. Things a little more clouded on Falcons wide

(21:54):
receiver Drake London, who is questionable to play on Sunday
against the Panthers, dealing with both a back issue and
an illness that is going to be one to monitor
during the forty eight hours or so still remaining until
kickoff on Sunday. Carlin's wide receiver Marvin Harrison Junior was
ruled out back on Wednesday for Sunday's game against the

(22:14):
forty nine Ers. Heeded emergency surgery for appendus sitis. That's
a big loss for an Arizona offense. Trying to right
itself after a horrific game in Seattle, still starting Jacoby
Presseid at quarterback with Kyler Murray on injured reserve. Rams
wide receiver Devonte Adams officially questionable for their big game
on Sunday against the Seahawks. Adams dealing with an oblique

(22:36):
injury from last week's game. But Sean McVay has said
it all week. He repeated it again today. McVeigh expects
Adams to play on Sunday.

Speaker 5 (22:45):
We're going to talk about Ram Seahawks. Let's talk about
Ram Seahawksy. That guy right there used to play for
the Rams and now he plays for the Seahawks.

Speaker 3 (22:54):
That is Cooper Cup.

Speaker 5 (22:55):
This is a great matchup anyway to the NFC's best teams.
This reunion only spices it up just a little bit more.

Speaker 3 (23:03):
Let's get pooka Nakula thoughts. I'm facing Cooper.

Speaker 8 (23:06):
Cup postgame jersey swap planned with Cooper?

Speaker 13 (23:09):
What will that look like?

Speaker 14 (23:10):
Honestly, I'm hoping that he doesn't take it off because
if I see him take it off to somebody else,
I might hit somebody on our team, respectfully, So it
better be like, oh man, everybody gives Cooper hug and
he like walks off with his jersey and I tell Berg,
I'm like, yo, I better I'm sending mine right now,
and I.

Speaker 12 (23:26):
Better get one in exchange.

Speaker 14 (23:28):
Foreign feeling for sure, but I think I'll be I know,
I'm excited to see him.

Speaker 3 (23:33):
We've exchanged some texts.

Speaker 14 (23:35):
And this one that you have some games that you
kind of you remember the dates, and so this has
been one that I'm excited for. It's the next one
for so it's gonna it's a big one and some
one we're preparing for.

Speaker 12 (23:44):
But I'll be excited to see number ten for sure.

Speaker 5 (23:48):
Pretty good, Pretty good right there from Pooka Omar Ruiz.
Welcome back in with the Insiders. Let's focus in on
this matchup right here. Let's focus in on Cooper Cup's return.
You know him well, well, you have spent plenty of
time on them while he's with the Rams, now with
the Seahawks. What do we respect from the former star
in La.

Speaker 6 (24:08):
Well, first, just like you said, Ian, this is a
fantastic matchup two top teams in the NFC West. First
place on the line. Quentin Lake, the captain for the Rams,
safety said this is a huge matchup, and they expect
the energy in the building to be off the charge,
and part of that energy is the emotion of Cooper
Cup returning now. Cup, for his part, saying that he's
looking forward to see a lot of old friends, but

(24:30):
trying to treat this as just another game. We all
know it's not just another game for him, but both
sides of this rivalry, both his current Seahawks teammates and
his former Rams teammates, just saying how great Cooper Cup
is in the receiver room, how good he is with
the quarterbacks, and just how good he is in the
locker room overall establishing that championship culture as he did

(24:50):
in Los Angeles and now a big part of the
reason why they've had such a great start to the
season in Seattle. As far as defending Cooper Cup, Rams
corner Cam Kitchens, who a big game against Seahawks last
year to interceptions, including a huge pick six, said Cooper
Cup would do things in practice to them that he
would never try in the game, just experimenting, and whenever
he would beat them in practice, Kitchens said that, okay,

(25:13):
you clap your hands a little bit, take a learning
lessons from that, but obviously much bigger stakes this time around.
They don't want to give anything up to Cooper Cup,
so it should be a fun matchup to watch. In
this one, they might see.

Speaker 5 (25:24):
Some of that practice work, except in an actual game.
On Sunday, let's talk about Matthew Stafford. The guy who
used to throw passes to Cooper Cup now throws passes
still to Puka Deko. And is I mean, is he
an MVP candidate at thirty seven looking as good as
he ever has? Maybe talk to me about what to
expect from expecting Matthew Stafford.

Speaker 6 (25:43):
Just a fantastic season ian that we've seen unfold from
Matthew Stafford. His three straight games of four touchdowns or
more and zero interceptions is the most in NFL history.
He has twenty touchdowns to zero interceptions against the Blitz.
I asked Stafford the keys to some of those success
and he said that sometimes he identifies what's going to

(26:05):
unfold with the defense before the snap. Sometimes he identifies
what's going to happen after the sap. Sean McVay telling
me that a lot of that has to do with
the preparation they do during the week, and a lot
of it has to do with just Matthew Stafford's experience
and letting that play out, because Stafford said, even when
he doesn't have the play completely diagnosed from the defense,
he's able to narrow it down to two or three
options and then you're just playing. And obviously he's pushing

(26:28):
all the right buttons right now for the Rams. On
the other side, for the Seahawks, their quarterback Sam Donald
also playing with MVP consideration. But the last time the
Rams saw Sam Donald in the playoffs last year as
a member of the Vikings, they sacked him nine times
in so when I talked to some Rams defenders about that,
they said that should have no carryover, but I ought

(26:50):
to add to some of their hunger to get after
Sam Donald. The key to slowing down the Seahawks offense.
Keep the plays in front of them, don't let Jackson
Smith in Jigba or Rashid Shaheed now over the top
of the defense.

Speaker 5 (27:01):
Crazy weapons on that Seattle offense, crazy weapons on both teams. Oh, Mark,
thank you very much, great stuff. As always, cannot wait
for this matchup. And if you want to know more
about this matchup, specifically, if you want to know more
about the Los Angeles Rams and their new look offense.
Let's go right to Brian Baldinger to break it all
down for us OH.

Speaker 15 (27:21):
Seattle visits the Rams this weekend is for first place
in the NFC West, and Seattle's going to have to
contend with the Rams tight ends. They have packages that
include four different tight ends and they use them a lot,
and I wanted to show you how they use the
tight ends to their advantage. So when you look at
this right here, here's three right here. You have Parkinson,

(27:42):
you have Allen, you have Higby. Here's the combo block
with Parkinson and Lauren Jackson up to the middle linebacker.
Allen and Higbee get your blocks, and Kyrin Williams walks
in the end zone.

Speaker 8 (27:54):
Four touchdown.

Speaker 15 (27:54):
Now, you watch Davis Allen right here, and you watch
how he's the lead block right here for Kyron Williams.
It's an excellent job right here of coming up on
the forty nine ers Taylor Bethoon and he blocks him
and easily.

Speaker 8 (28:08):
Kyn Williams cuts right off him.

Speaker 15 (28:10):
Now, when you watch this, here's a tight end bunch
package with Higbee and Parkinson along with Davis Allen, you're
going to see Allen here and Higbee are going to
come out in the formation, and now Stafford has room
to wait for Allan to pop open. He catches his
third touchdown pass of the season. Now you watch this
right here, I mean, Davis Allen's is going to be

(28:32):
in motion. But wats what Kobe Parkinson does. He's blocking
down like it's a run right here, run action. The
forty nine ers end up running into each other and
he pops open free and Kobe Parkinson catches his first
touchdown pass of the season as a result, And then
you know, finally you can't forget about Terrence Ferguson. He's
the rookie, but he's also a guy that can really

(28:53):
match up against linebackers and safety's. He runs his out
and up against the forty nine ers in a part
of the game when it was tight twenty eight twenty
he got the explosive play to set up the rams
next touchdown. And so when Seattle comes this weekend to
Sofi State and play the Rams, they're gonna see those
four tight ends.

Speaker 8 (29:11):
Now they played more thirteen.

Speaker 15 (29:14):
Personnel, one back, three tight ends more than any other
team in the league, and it's becoming problem for a
lot of defenses in one that Seattle will have to
contend with.

Speaker 3 (29:23):
Baldy the Goat.

Speaker 5 (29:24):

Speaker 1 (30:17):
Thursday, the Commanders teamed up with the Dolphins the host
two youth football clinics in Madrid, Spain, Washington Legends Santana Moss,
Brian Mitchell, Logan, Paulson, Shawn Springs and London Fletcher Command
Force and of course Major Tuddy joined Dolphins alumni cheerleaders
and mascot TD to teach American football fundamentals to one

(30:40):
hundred and eighty youth athletes from Collegio Nweistra senorat del
Raquerdo Our camera wolf S n La Escena.

Speaker 16 (30:48):
This is such an iconic weekend, the first game in Madrid,
but one of my favorite football stories is the relationship
of these two head coaches, commanders At coach Dan Quinn
and Dolphins head coach Mike mcdani. McDaniel said that Quinn
was there at ground zero when he was trying to
get sober. He said, I'll forever be indebted to him.

Speaker 8 (31:07):
Quinn told me.

Speaker 16 (31:08):
This week, I was just trying to be support for
my brother in that moment, and he praised him and
said how proud he was of him showing guts, be
able to share something so private so publicly in that moment,
and even now helping so many.

Speaker 3 (31:20):
It's something we can relate to.

Speaker 16 (31:22):
Everyone knows someone who has dealt with issues like that.
McDaniel has bounced back incredibly and that strength the power
of football is an example. And on Sunday in Madrid,
those two coaches will share a moment probably after the game,
to talk about how much they mean to each other,
but it's just a moment for all of us to
realize just how we can help each other in moments

(31:42):
of struggle.

Speaker 1 (31:43):
This Wednesday, in the day after Veterans Day, USAA and
NFL legends Alejandro Villanueva, Ryan Tannehill, and Joe Theisman came
together and took a tour of US Navy destroyers at
Naval Station Rota, the largest American military community community in Spain,
to show honor through action by hosting a flag football
tournament for US troops stationed on the base. Tannehill was

(32:06):
the honorary Miami coach, Thaisman the honorary Washington coach, and
Villanueva led US military members through a series of spirited
flag football games on base, offering coaching tips, signing autographs,
and celebrating their shared love of the game. They were
joined by USAA, the official Salute to Service partner of
the NFL, to present the winning team with tickets to

(32:28):
the first ever NFL Madrid game this Sunday, early morning
on NFL Network. The Dolphins and the Commanders the Colts
are going to be watching that somewhere from afar, because
they've got an opportunity to do something pretty special this season,
something that's not been done since well Robert Mathis was
on the team, and that's go ahead and win a

(32:50):
Super Bowl. Mathis joins us next to talk about his
Hall of Fame push and if he believes this Coles
team can go all the way. That's next on The
Insiders presented by Progressive Insurance.

Speaker 13 (33:00):
Franklin over there, who's got hurt last week and he's
inactive tonight. Man accepting away loses the bull and the
bull will stay in the end zone. The Colts are there,
Jeffers is chicking you get Robert Mathis, the master of
the sack.

Speaker 2 (33:18):
Puble.

Speaker 13 (33:18):
They're going to go to safety, saying that it was
recovering out of bounds.

Speaker 1 (33:23):
One of Robert Mathis's nineteen and a half sacks in
that twenty thirteen season on a quarterback that he knows
pretty well. Robert Mathis with us right now here on
the Insiders, with me, Tom Pellicero as well as Mike Garafall.
Let's start out. Robert, You're you're coming to us from
your your log cabin of bow.

Speaker 2 (33:42):
Just tell me what you're up to these days.

Speaker 17 (33:43):
Oh nothing, just trying to live a quiet, peaceable life.

Speaker 8 (33:48):
No frills, no, not a whole lot of action.

Speaker 12 (33:52):
Just do do the thing.

Speaker 8 (33:54):
Just stand out the way you know, living life the
best way I can.

Speaker 2 (33:57):
There you go off the grid, that's the best way
to go. I love that man.

Speaker 4 (34:01):
But we want you on the grave when it comes
to the Hall of Fame, and you are. We're thinking
down to fifty two now. So you're one of fifty
two up for the Hall of Fame right now. You've
been a semi finalist the last couple of years. Give
us your best case because the numbers are strong. I mean,
in some cases even stronger than Dwight Freeney, who's already
in your teammate there.

Speaker 2 (34:20):
So give us your case for Hey, I'm a Hall
of Famer.

Speaker 17 (34:22):
Well, I don't like to too my own horn, but
the stats say, of what they say, anybody that owns
a record, they're in the Hall of Fame. So and
when it comes to force fumbles, I have the record.
So that's probably the strongest case that I have. Hopefully
it's enough to get in, but I need a fe

(34:43):
I need a few votes.

Speaker 1 (34:45):
I've always found it funny when people use well all
he does is rush the passer as like a negative.
That was the That was the neg for Kevin Green
for a number of years. One of the greatest pass
rushers we've ever seen. He got into the Hall of
Fame eventually. Here for you, obviously it was a big
part of your game, but I know you did more
than that. Just take me back when you were at

(35:05):
your best. What made Robert mathis Robert mathis well.

Speaker 17 (35:09):
I was a guy that whatever the team needed, I was.
I like to pride myself on being available. They say
the best ability is availability, whether it was special teams
my first four years snap count this situational rusher on
third downs and then eventually becoming.

Speaker 8 (35:27):
A starter from six to the rest of my career.

Speaker 17 (35:32):
But whatever the team needed, I was always there and
just hopefully I wur I gave the fans in Indianapolis
to be to be proud about something.

Speaker 4 (35:41):
You look at the rest of the nominees as well.
Reggie Wayne's in there, Adam Vinentaria is in there. Have
you guys had any conversation about and let's make this
a group party in Canton this year?

Speaker 8 (35:50):
Yeah? Well, the last I want to say six to seven,
maybe eight years.

Speaker 17 (35:55):
It's been a whole run of coast so and then
just lets you know the whole two thousands, how dominant
that Aero was. But for Reggie not to be in,
that's a travesty. For the greatest of all time, Adam
Vnitier to not be in. I want to say this
is the second year of eligibility, but he should have
been a first ballot. So I have a lot to

(36:17):
learn about. What does it actually take to get in?
Is it based on what you did on the field
or any outside sources, But either way, definitely Reggie and
Adam should should should have been in by it by now.

Speaker 1 (36:34):
You were a member of the last Colts team to
win the Super Bowl. This courage Colts team looks like
they've at least got a shot. You had a reaction
to the Sauce Gardner trade, the classic we're going for
it move that I thought was very special because this is.

Speaker 2 (36:50):
Not something we see a ton in Indianapolis.

Speaker 1 (36:52):
Here's the tweet right here when you first saw that,
did you think it was fake?

Speaker 3 (36:56):
What was your initial reaction to the sauce trade.

Speaker 8 (36:59):
Well, there's a lot of fake news out there as
of late.

Speaker 17 (37:02):
But this is something that I had to confirm because
this is not this is not like the Coats, this
is not like my squad.

Speaker 8 (37:10):
We don't make the splash moves of this magnitude. So
when it.

Speaker 17 (37:14):
Happened, they letting me know that they they want right now.
They don't want next, they want now. So I actually
like to move so and going back to the Rams
when they won the Super Bowl a couple of years ago,
when it said eftam picks and I just started laughing
about it.

Speaker 4 (37:29):
Man, Well, yeah, maybe this is a new chapter in
the Colts franch as the Colts Organization Jim Irsay obviously
the team playing for him and for his memory this year,
but his daughter's taking over spearheaded by Carli Ersa Gordon,
who's now the CEO of the coulch. You see her
on the side, like you see how involved she is.

(37:49):
What kind of interactions did you have with her over
the years.

Speaker 8 (37:52):
She was very hands on us she had. This is
not a new role for her.

Speaker 17 (37:57):
She's she's been in operating in this role for I
mean i'll say close to a decade. I remember when
I was the tail end of my career. She would
be at practice. She would be over at the one
on one drear Old line versus D line. She would
be in the seven on seven. She was very involved.
So her success is not it's not surprising. Uh the league,

(38:22):
you know Jim or say he groomed her well, he
groomed his daughter's well. Even the other two, that's not.
They're kind of behind the scenes, but they put the
work in. They know what they're doing, and so I
took my hat to him.

Speaker 1 (38:35):
I know you're still involved in the game. We've seen
you out there at the Sacks Summit trying to impart
some knowledge on this this current crop of pass rushers
based on you know, what you see on TV or
meeting these guys up close. Is there anybody you you
really like right now? In terms of the modern pass rushers.

Speaker 17 (38:53):
I always say Von Miller after my era, he was
my He's my favorite past rusher. But you got guys
like Brian burns Man, the Spider Man. He reminds me
of a taller version of myself. The outside, spend, inside spend, deal, speed, change,
the direction, all these type moves. You got also Miles,

(39:15):
but MaTx Crosby, he's arguably doing the best pass rusher.
So it's a great time to be a pass rusher
in the NFL, and I love every minute of them.

Speaker 1 (39:27):
Hard to believe, man, it's been so long since you
got a sack on the quarterback. But that also means
you're eligible for the Hall of Fame. We'll be watching
that closely. Hopefully, see you, Grea seeing the stage out
there in San Francisco during Super Bowl Week. Robert Mathis
thanks a ton dude for being her best luck moving forward.

Speaker 17 (39:43):
Hey, you appreciate you having me on. I need a
few more votes. And remember, sack fumbles, it's still not
an official stat.

Speaker 2 (39:51):
That's right, Zach fumbles, that's the master. Get him man,
vote for him.

Speaker 1 (39:55):
Rainy Day in l A Good Things so far has
got a roof for ram Seahawks.

Speaker 3 (40:00):
We back.

Speaker 2 (40:02):
Here's Kobe Turner at the Troubrenour.

Speaker 4 (40:04):
Yeah, he's got some pipes, singing with Dog Park Bend,
Chris Katie the drummer.

Speaker 2 (40:08):
His mom's a neighbor of mine. Go Kobe, love it.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant.
