Para un científico, es siempre un gran orgullo y satisfacción, y una gran alegría, comprobar que el trabajo que ha podido hacer, en el caso de Jorge Laborda el descubrimiento del gen DLK1, puede ser utilizada más tarde por otros para desarrollar nada menos que una nueva herramienta para tratar con éxito una enfermedad de la gravedad del cáncer de hígado. Hoy Jorge cuenta la historia de este último descubrimiento y cómo está enlazado con otros realizados en las últimas tres décadas y media con el que inicialmente realizó hacia finales de los años 80 del siglo pasado.
