Speaker 1 (00:00):
This portion of the Joe Show podcast is powered by
Fair and Faarah Tampa Accident Attorneys. I was just going
to the bathroom and come back in the studio and
Ashley goes, maybe I amble to start sewing. Yeah, I'll
sew you something. Why are you talking about sewing?
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Because I got some pants tailor and they were really expensive.
It's thirty dollars to tailor a pair of jeans, and
I'm just like my grandmother used to sew. Katie Summer
says her mom is into sewing. Why can't I pick
up a new hobby as an adult and learn how
to sew? I think I would save a lot of
money one with my clothes. I could help you guys out.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
If you need me to sew you something cool, I
can make you a cape.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
Why do you think I would want a cape?
Speaker 3 (00:37):
You don't want a cape.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
I kind of want to go with the big J
on the back. Oh I love that.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
I think I really am.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
I think I am gonna because I know my grandmother
she has at least three sewing machines, Like, hey, just
ship me one because.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
They're like three hundred dollars.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
They are.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
Yeah, yeah, it's an investment though.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
But the thing is, when I used to stay with her,
I used to watch her sew and I used to
like help her, you know, you follow her, follow her
as she's sewing.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
So I think I'd be good at it.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
Eight and four ninety three, ninety three calling to the
Joe Show right Now'm calling in ninety three three fl Z.
I want to know what is that hobby you picked up?
What is that? What is that hobby you picked up?
You know, I tried to pick up golf, But I
gotta be honest. Over the last year, I'm just not
that into it. I'm trying to get back into it,
(01:25):
and I will get back into it. I don't want
to make Jed sad. Maybe I'm not that into it anymore.
I don't know. I think it's my back to.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
Yeah, yeah, it's a back It is good.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
But what is that hobby you got? Ashley wants to sew?
What is your hobby? Katie?
Speaker 2 (01:45):
I kind of want to get back into running. And
I know we've talked about this before. You have recently
said that you wanted to get it back here.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
Yeah, and Sean and I started running and then we stopped.
But I don't know I did it before I did
a couple half marathons. I feel like I want to
really invest in running again.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
Yeah. I remember talking to you on the phone one
time and I was on a walk and you were
talking about doing like a what's it called the shorter
ones three k five cart the five case. Yeah. I'm
in my head and thinking, okay, well, how far does
she have to run in order to do that? And
I don't even think you remember this call because it
was very significant to me, but it would be insignificant
(02:22):
till literally anyone else. But I was like, how far
is that? And it's what three.
Speaker 3 (02:25):
Miles three point two five?
Speaker 1 (02:27):
I cannot comprehend someone running that long. I think you
could do it without stopping. No, I've tried the trail
that I go on when I do my walks. I
used to run, but I would run one time and
I'd stop and i'd walk and then I'd do it again.
That's like really hard. That is I don't know how
to be.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
I mean there, I can't remember that there's a method
that is that the run walk thing. And this guy
was like a professional long distance runner and he was
the one who really spearheaded doing like the run walk thing.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
It's actually easier on your body, so it's not a
bad idea. Maybe I'll be a run.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
Walker and walk a run walker run walker yogging, that's
what my cousin from Port of Irena calls it. He
yogs quite often eight hundred and four on the ninety
three ninety three. You know, maybe you expand your horizons
(03:20):
and sewing and you just do arts and crafts because
Brook is in arts and crafts or crafter crafts. That's
what I am.
Speaker 5 (03:28):
I have lots of different things.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
What do you build with it? I have.
Speaker 5 (03:32):
Beads, lots of bees, I mean case and case and
cases and bees. I make like hip bracelets or just
jewelry and stuff like that. And then I have a
I paint a lot in my whole garage is and
they made paints everywhere and do like paint pouring. Also
would work out in woodworking for a while.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
That's like a metal class and garage with like the
helmet on the front, or is it when you do
with the glass, This is the glass blowing glass, No,
it's what the actual glass?
Speaker 3 (04:07):
Yeah, blowing glass.
Speaker 5 (04:10):
Yeah, that's that's hard.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
You kind of sound like satin, But I say you
can't do it.
Speaker 5 (04:16):
But of course you can do anything you want to
put your mind to. But yeah, it's definitely hard.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
I've been trying to use the force since I was five,
and I still haven't been able to figure that out.
But I'll let you know if I can. Brook Laura,
you like uh? You like candle making?
Speaker 4 (04:35):
Yes?
Speaker 6 (04:36):
I love candle making. It's been one of my newest
hobbies and it's so satisfying.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
How do you make them? I buy the wax off.
Speaker 6 (04:43):
Amazon and melt it, and then I buy some dies
and sense that I can put in at you and
they come out amazing.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
I can make all different collars.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
Can you make a poop scented one?
Speaker 3 (05:00):
Would you want to candle?
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Smart? You?
Speaker 6 (05:01):
I don't think though.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
Are you well anything? It's funny? I would love to. Hey,
can you do it?
Speaker 4 (05:07):
No?
Speaker 1 (05:07):
I want to make you. Maybe I can make a
p I can you cal is in this?
Speaker 5 (05:19):
I would need some gloves?
Speaker 1 (05:20):
Yeah, he needs some mealk Flora. I love you. We'll
talk to you later, Maggie.
Speaker 7 (05:28):
Helen, am I live?
Speaker 1 (05:31):
Yes, you're what do you want to do? Swear?
Speaker 5 (05:37):
Hey?
Speaker 7 (05:37):
I picked up thrifting. I remember as a kid we
used to go thrifting a lot with my parents because
we just couldn't afford to pay twenty dollars for a
pair of jeans we still, or like like fifteen dollars
for a shirt. So I've picked up. Now, I've picked
up thrifting, and I slipped the items so I sell
(06:00):
them for a bit more than what I get them for.
And I mean, it's just a hobby I picked up.
It's pretty cool. I mean making money on the side
with it.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
Are these pieces like designer pieces or just really.
Speaker 7 (06:14):
Well yeah, I mean they could be their vintage antique,
they could be you know, newer brands that people just use.
It's used items, but you can always flip them if
they're pretty good in pretty good conditions.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
I'm gonna tell you right now, I've been going on
you're the guy, just Maggie. I've been thrifting on eBay.
It's been the most incredible experience in my life. Right now.
My fiance is going nuts because there's a new package
at home every single day. But I'm finding things that
I swear to you, I'm buying things for like five
bucks that I could easily flip for like two to
(06:54):
three hundred dollars. Now, of course I'm financially responsible, so
I'm not flipping them whatsoever. I'm taking him in and
I like it, so it's mine.
Speaker 7 (07:01):
Yeah, exactly, But I get it.
Speaker 5 (07:04):
I get it.
Speaker 7 (07:05):
Just the other day, I went to a garage sale
and there was Coach perfume, Michael Cors perfume, and I
believe I got them bowl for five dollars. I winked
and I slipped them for I got twenty one dollars
for them.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
Nice.
Speaker 7 (07:22):
So I mean, come up, yeah, little things, but little
every every penny counts nowaday.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
Amen to that. I Uh, I'm yet to get myself
to go to something like this because I think it's cursed.
But man, do I want to go to an estate
sale sometime? Oh have done several Oh I flavored camera
I or that flavored scented bitter sweet.
Speaker 7 (07:52):
But I mean it's all because it's an awesome experience.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
I'm just showing to buy anything that's haunted because if
I die. And so he was buying my T shirts,
I'm gonna haunt them. Yeah, get out of my shirt.
Speaker 3 (08:04):
If you ain't family, don't touch it.
Speaker 7 (08:05):
And I got the idea from my father because my
father collects antique cars. So he's purchased them like he's
eighty years old. So he purchased them at an affordable price,
and he collects them. He doesn't sell them, but he
(08:26):
does collect them. And you know there's times where he
may flip him but I mean he basically he's a collector.
He's more of a collection, I mean than anything else.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
No kidding, Weill, that's awesome. Maybe we all pick up
a hobby and says.
Speaker 7 (08:47):
I'm doing it nowadays it's I mean, back then it
was like taboo. It's like, oh my gosh, you go
to the first store and you buy.
Speaker 5 (08:54):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
Oh no, No, It's like all people want to do
is thrift. Yeah, Maggie, we we we love you. We
appreciate you calling in. And I gotta know, I want
to finish it off with this. You're really gonna start sewing?
Speaker 2 (09:08):
Yeah, And I want to do the what is it
the moting with the pottery pottery?
Speaker 1 (09:14):
Yes, we used to do in pottery class in high school.
You put a little air bubble in yours and it
would blow up when they would do it, and it
would ruin everyone else. Think you're gonna pick up a running.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
Yes, how do you know that?
Speaker 1 (09:27):
Yeah, I don't know. I think you talked about it
a couple of times.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
No talking about why he knows about the pottery. Yeah,
I can.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
Destroy again because we were in it together. Remember I
got in trouble for trying to make a bomb. Yeah,
I would just make them. You would. Yeah, if you
have a little air bubble, they'll just And if they
while they're making other people's things, there's.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
Age BOYD will find out how to do that. You're
gonna run.
