Speaker 1 (00:00):
This portion of the Joe Show podcast is powered by
Farrah and Farrah, Tampa accident attorneys. Are you down with
the convenience of a digital gift card? Are you down
with the convenience of a digital room key card? Or
do you want the real thing? Maybe you've never stayed
at a hotel before, so you don't know what I'm
talking about.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
How about a concert? How about a sporting event? Do
you want the ticket? Or do you just... Listen, put
it on my phone. I'm good with it. Because I
will say this, too, though.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
As much as I love, like, getting the physical things,
if I could get one of those IDs on my phone.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
No, Joe! Why? Some of the paper, wallpaper, and art, though, digitally, actually,
is pretty cool. What happens if you find that? I
just mean the convenience of it. Oh, okay.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
If I had just an ID on my phone, I'd
be happy. But everything else, like I have every baseball
ticket I've ever had of any game until they ruined it.
The MLB does this.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
It's the worst.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
It is.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
It is the worst application of all time. The MLB
ballpark app.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
Genuinely, they might go into a lockout and not play
baseball next year.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Get rid of the adverts. Go into a lockout to
get rid of the adverts. That should be the only
thing that they should be meeting about. It's horrible. Because
I want a physical copy.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Me too.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
I like keeping my concert tickets. I do that too.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
The concert tickets are amazing.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
Cute. Could I be the young, problematic Casey Kasem and
bring up an artist that some people don't like, but
some people do?

Speaker 2 (01:31):
So I'm just going to.

Speaker 5 (01:32):
Bring him up.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
Kanye West. And we gave away a billion tickets to
his show that broke records. So Kanye's whole thing is
with his merch on the Life of Pablo tour, that
was the time when they stopped giving out the physical tickets,
like Live Nation and Ticketmaster and all them don't do
the real tickets. So that's why his T-shirt said general admissions.

(01:55):
That was your keepsake that you could take home as.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
A general admission T-shirt. Think about that. But I like
the physical.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
I get so excited when we're at Disney and I
have that physical thing.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
I have an annual pass.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
When you win this annual pass and you get the
annual pass, they send you an actual card.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
No, I'm a liar.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
You have to go to the park. You can keep
it on your phone. I have it on my phone.
When I double-click my phone, I have it.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
But you can... Oh, and I have it in the
hotel room. But they give you a physical annual pass.
That's awesome.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
I like that.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
It is the ultimate flex.

Speaker 5 (02:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
I will say this.

Speaker 5 (02:32):
When Joe first got his annual pass, it was one
of the funniest things ever because he would put it on.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
He's like, hey, guess what I got? And then he
would actually pull out the card. But having the card
is sick.

Speaker 5 (02:41):
I would much rather have the card or low-key, I
wish hotels would go back to the actual turning keys.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (02:48):
They had those?

Speaker 2 (02:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:49):
I did not know that.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Back in the day. They had a turning key? Like motels. Yeah,
you stay in a motel six.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
How are you staying at? If you want love goo
on your pillow, that's when you know. If they give
you a real key, we messed up.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
I would love that. But do you like the physical thing?

Speaker 1 (03:10):
There's a battle between video games right now where PlayStation, Sony,
has gone all digital. Video games are just digital copies.
I talked to Jeff Liss, who's one of our favorites,
who got the Joe Show Roadshow going with the beautiful
camping world of Dover. He told me that he's not
playing any PlayStation games anymore because they've gone all digital.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
He's doing it out of principle.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
Meanwhile, Nintendo's coming out with a bunch of interactive stuff
that you plug into your Nintendo.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
That's smart.

Speaker 5 (03:40):
I don't think digital, if anything, there's no footprint of
anything that's left behind. How are we supposed to know
that we existed as humans if we only did everything online?

Speaker 4 (03:50):
And how do you pass it along to a friend
or a family member? All of your concert tickets?

Speaker 3 (03:55):
Yeah, or like all my digital movies.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
Like everything's on, you stream it. You know those orange
VHS tapes? I can't give it to my parents.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Remember the orange VHS tapes.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
Right, you can't pass that along. You can't pass your
games along. Unless you log in the account.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
That's true.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
When we were at Disney, they let it, when we
were at Disney, we are at Disney.

Speaker 4 (04:15):
Are you going to talk about the Fortnite?

Speaker 2 (04:17):
I need, you know what they need here? What? They
need one thing. No, they need cold brew. They got coffee.
They got hot coffee. They need cold brew, though. I
forgot what I was going to say.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
At the Disney Animation, we toured this really cool thing.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
They had a bunch of VHS tapes where Stitch was.
He's rolling around. I'll post a video. They had a
bunch of VHS tapes in there. We don't have that.

Speaker 5 (04:47):
I know.

Speaker 4 (04:47):
I think we need to go back to DVDs.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
The Mandalorian and Grogu. I don't have a physical copy.

Speaker 4 (04:52):
No way.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
I'm streaming that thing on Disney +, which is cool.

Speaker 4 (04:56):
I feel like people are... Don't we just talk about
DVD sales are going up right now?

Speaker 2 (05:01):
Are they?

Speaker 4 (05:02):
Yes, because I think people don't really want to keep
paying for the streaming services and then to.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
Buy their favorite movies or maybe have a little bit
of both and then if they take it off the
streaming service and you still have it.

Speaker 4 (05:11):
I did not know that.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
Oh, okay.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
For sure.

Speaker 4 (05:15):
A DVD player is probably like $ 1, 000 now. Back in
the day. I don't think it is.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
I think it's like $ 69.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
99.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
Do you guys remember the disposable cameras?

Speaker 2 (05:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (05:23):
They're like between $ 40 to $ 100 now.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
The Kodak one?

Speaker 1 (05:26):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
Even if I wanted to just go get.

Speaker 4 (05:28):
Them done at CVS? Oh, man, that hurts my soul.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
So I think the physical things are now becoming more
expensive because we want them more.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
They're like, no, we want to put it on digital.
But if you want it physical, oh, yeah. There you go.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
And low-key, this is going to sound so strange, but I... Huh?

Speaker 1 (05:44):
Huh?

Speaker 2 (05:46):
DVD players are $ 40 on Amazon.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
DVD players on Amazon being only $ 40?

Speaker 2 (05:51):
That's not bad.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
Does it have lines on it when you're watching it?

Speaker 4 (05:55):
What do you mean?

Speaker 1 (05:57):
Do you think they have that?

Speaker 4 (05:59):
Blu-ray, baby, remember that? Oh my god, yes. Love a
Blu-ray moment.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
We fell hook, line, and sinker for the Blu-ray for
a hot minute.

Speaker 4 (06:08):
I don't even know what that means. What does Blu-ray mean?

Speaker 2 (06:10):
No one knows what it means. My PlayStation is Blu-ray.

Speaker 4 (06:13):
What does it mean?

Speaker 2 (06:15):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (06:16):
It just sounds good.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
Yeah, what the hell does Blu-ray mean?

Speaker 3 (06:19):
Don't you guys miss going to GameStop and getting games,
physical games?

Speaker 2 (06:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (06:23):
And opening the package or a CD, opening the package,
looking at the thank you really.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
Thank you, Thomas.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
Dude, when you rip that plastic thing off.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
Yes.

Speaker 4 (06:29):
Oh, I'm going to eat that now.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Yeah, and you can't get it, so you're like picking
at the corner and you're picking at it.

Speaker 5 (06:35):
Stop it.

Speaker 4 (06:36):
I'm going to cry like Katie at the animation thing.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
And then you get it.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
You get a tiny bit and like just a tiny
rip and you rip a tiny bit and then you're
all PO'd.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
By the way, can I just say something? I have
been censoring myself like crazy.

Speaker 4 (06:48):
You're doing great.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
Thank you. Prude Joe is doing great today.

Speaker 4 (06:53):
I can actually smell the opening of a CD. The
rapper and all that. You'd look at the book to
see if the lyrics were in there. Or the DVD
player where sometimes you can't open it. We can't open it.
Good times. We don't have physical things anymore.

Speaker 5 (07:07):
And all the retro games like the NES, the Nintendo 64,
they're all going to make a comeback.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
What are you guys going to do when you don't
even need a system?

Speaker 4 (07:16):
You literally just need a television and you'd like log in.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
They already have that. Oh, God.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
God.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
Is that Roku?

Speaker 2 (07:23):
They have that.

Speaker 1 (07:24):
And by the way, they did bring back the NES
and the Nintendo 64 and all that, but it's digital.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
See, I'm annoyed, bro.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
I'm just saying, that's what they did. That's what they did.
We need physical. So shout out to Disney for getting physical.
That's what we like. Katie, what's coming up with the news?

Speaker 4 (07:45):
So what you expect at this Sunday's Emmy Awards. I
came with the Emmys this weekend already. Presenters, some really
cool reunions.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
All right.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
Hold on.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
No.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
No, no, no, no, no, no. I think I've realized
an issue. I realized an issue. This is me. I
just want to say this because now this makes sense.
Once again, that was me mess up, not a Jamie.
I messed that up.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
Jamie's mouse looks like my mouse, but it's not my mouse.
So when Jamie teed up, Olivia Rodrigo dropped that. I
thought I was playing it. And I go ahead with
your teaser.

Speaker 3 (08:24):
And then there's a university that's naming a bunch of
bugs like new species after Taylor Swift.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
