So Tiko is warning Tico customers that scammers are getting
more and more savvy and they're even using more forms
of AI to try to steal your money. So this
is box thirteen Tampa Bay reporting on it.

People should be on the lookout for a calls, text
or emails pushing for payment. Tiko says scammers have gotten
quite sophisticated, using AI generated voice calls and even showing
up at times on people's doorsteps.

Speaker 4 (00:44):
Since twenty twenty four, we have seen a significant increase
and the number of customers who have reported hearing from
scammers or falling for scams.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Tampa Electric spokeswoman Sherry Jacob says scammers are showing up
at people's store steps, exploiting AI generated calls, and even
creating fake websites.

Speaker 5 (01:03):
Instead of getting Tampa Electric site, they're getting an imposter
site that looks just like ours, similar colors, similar logo,
but there's something not quite right about it.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
Tiko warns the biggest red flag is a sense of urgency,
along with threats to shut off your power.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
We will never call you and demand immediate payment. We
will never call and demand number.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
I'm sorry, but I don't even have the money to
pay some money immediately.

Speaker 4 (01:30):
So you can call me.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
An act for the money, but I'm not giving it.
The kid's yeah, thank you payment plan. And from personal experience,
they will just turn off your power.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
Yeah, they're not gonna call you.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
We're gonna turn it off.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
You don't say you know they're just turning it off.

Speaker 6 (01:47):
Yeah, I will say. I think people get scammed by
the way, and it's not just Tiko. I think it's
every energy provider, especially after the hurricanes. I feel like
a lot of us are getting scammed because of how
much they raised our prices to begin with.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
Oh yeah, you know what I mean.

Speaker 6 (02:06):
Yeah, because it's an ungodly amount and it doesn't make
sense if you look at like the last you know,
five years, the amount that they've charged us does not
make sense.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
I mean, it's supposed to go down I think in September,
but it'd be cool if it would go down here
before the summer, because now we're meaning a lot yea.
So well, Joe, you were talking about this new celebrity couple,
and Kendall Jenner and actor Jacob Elordi have gotten quote
a lot more serious. So they went on a vacation
to Hawaii and apparently everything changed. They are such an

A source close to Kendall said that they got super
close on that trip. It definitely made their connection stronger.
I guess they've been friends for years and it was
