Team USA tonight is playing TURKEYAH what used to be
known as Turkey, and everybody is saying this is essentially
a throwaway game. Team USA has already won their group.
They are guaranteed to move on to the knockout stage.
Turkeia will not qualify. They lost their last two games,

and so many are saying it's a meaningless match. I
beg to differ, and I'll tell you why. They have
to win tonight or at a minimum draw. But they
should win. Number one, They're the better team. They have
more talent, they have more class, they have more skill.
They are just a superior team, and they should win.

If they play not even their best players. If they
just play Christian Polistic for let's say the first half,
and then bring in some of their subs, they should
be able to defeat Turkeia. But more importantly than that,
this tournament is about momentum. Momentum in this tournament is

everything many teams, and I've seen it in World Cup
after World Cup. They come in, they even lose the
first game, but then they start picking up speed, they
find their legs, they play better and better and better,
and before you know it, they make it deep into
the tournament or even win the tournament itself. What you

don't want to do is put a monkey wrench now
into the gears. Team USA has come out with a flying,
impressive start. They dominated game one they played against Paraguay.
They did phenomenally well against Australia, especially in the opening half.
They came out fast, aggressive, charging and attacking the net,

playing an offensive style of game, and they racked up
goals quickly, putting their opponents on the ropes and then
finishing them off. For them to just play their subs today,
or to take it easy and take the pedal off
the break and then lose a game that they should win,
They're now going to then go into the knockout stage,

not with the nine full points clicking on all cylinders,
absolutely self confident, the team gelling at the right time,
but they will be coming off a defeat, a defeat
due to lack of effort, lack of seriousness, essentially throwing
in the towel and throwing the game. That's the one

thing you don't want to do. This tournament is about
getting stronger, better, with more momentum, game after game after game.
I want to see Team US say give it everything
they've got pedal to the medal. I want this team
to play better now than in the first game and

in the second game, and you build and build, because
odds are they're probably gonna play Bosnia Herzegovina in the
second round and knockout stage, which they should win, which
means then they will be in the all important Round
of sixteen. And if they're coming in playing their best soccer,

with all of the momentum behind them, having won four
straight games, they can win the Round of sixteen and
do the unimaginable, qualify into the quarterfinals and make history.
So to Team USA tonight, don't take your foot off

the pedal. Don't take your foot off the gas, because
once you take it off, it's hard to put it
back on.
