Today's entry for truth control comes from Tennessee State Representative
Antonio Parkinson, who spoke on the House floor in Memphis
the other day and he went on a bombastic rant
against redistricting and threatened secession.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
If this body believes that Memphis should not have the
right to elect representation reflective of his own community, the
legislature should explain why Memphis should continue to be part
of the state of Tennessee. Let Memphis succeed. You don't
have to redraw maps when you let us out, Let

Go, let his people go. So there it is. Is
he telling the truth? Does he really want this or
is he just trolling?

Speaker 1 (01:19):
He's trolling this loser.

it's all okay, all's fair in love and war. But
now when the whip is on the other hand and
they're losing to some of these redistricting battles like in Tennessee,

I mean, would anybody really even notice if Memphis left Tennessee? Yeah?

To be honest, if I live in Tennessee, I'm.

the Grizzlies? What are we really missing out on?

If I was a Tennessee and I'd be like, guys,
you want to leave, there's the door man. But notice
these Dems when things don't go their way, boy, they
love to secede. Have you noticed that? It's just you know,
SA say ah boy, so we're back to eighteen sixty now,

Uh all right, let me ask all of you when
this Democrat is now threatening that Memphis should secede to protest? Now,
the new redistricting map drawn up by the governor and
the state legislature for Tennessee, which by the way, is
going to take away a majority minority district, you know,

the one in Memphis, and is going to give Republicans
an extra potential seat in Congress. Is he a when
he says we want to succeed. Is he a telling
the truth like he's serious Memphis will succeed or B
