Speaker 1 (00:02):
I were Aj and Gregory and this is Jace. So
before we went to the hospital, our normal day was
very different to what it is now. We were expecting
our little one to come in seven weeks and everything shifted.
I got a phone call from our gestational carrier. She
was like, I think my waters broke and we were like,
(00:24):
all right, we're on our way. Like everything that we
thought was going to be happening in a couple of
weeks was happening now, and we rushed downtown. Thankfully, we
live in grown rapids and we trust Corwall with everything
I've worked with for them, and we're just very confident
that we're going to be safe no matter what. We
got there. They ran some tests. They had us in
(00:46):
an ultrasound room testing him to see if everything was
going right, and every ultrasound leading up to this point
he moved every time you put the ultrasound probe on
him and throw his hand up in his face, and
he didn't move, and they were like, something's really going on.
We're going upstairs now. Hearing that, you're like, what's happening.
(01:08):
We went upstairs and they're like, all right, Helendavas is Nick.
You team's gonna come over. We're gonna have everybody come
in and just discuss with things with you and make
a plan. And we're like, all right, we're exactly where
we're supposed to be. We know that the team at
DeVos is going to do exactly what they need to
do and take care of us. There's no better place
in West Michigan to be. We took a deep breath
(01:31):
with that, and we're like, all right, here we go,
see what happens. The Nick You team comes rushing into
the room, they have the back table set up, and
then within ten minutes he was delivered and it was
the most emotional thing that we've ever experienced. I work
in surgery and so like, I know what everything's happening.
(01:51):
When they took him over to the table, his auction
level was dropping and thankfully like he was able to
get him to breathing on his own. But the NICK
team was like, Hey, we have to go downstairs now.
So we went rushed down to the floor and then
that's when I knew that everything was going to be fine.
(02:13):
We walked into that NICK room by twelve. The team
that greeted us was so warm they all were jumping
in and taking care of us. They're taking care of
us as a family, making sure that we were okay,
making sure that Jace had all the things that he needed,
and this huge weight is lifted off from my shoulders.
(02:34):
He is four months old now, he's very healthy. He
is hitting all of his markers. He's fifty percent and way.
He's very, very healthy, and he would not be in
this spot now if it wasn't for DeVos, and we
truly realized that every child deserves a chance at a
healthy future, and that future begins with you. You can
