Speaker 1 (00:00):
But first things first.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
It's at this point on Wednesdays we present Ask the
Lawyer with Bruce el Shiner, Attorney for the Injured. He
answers questions largely submitted by you. Maybe today is that day,
the day you get your question answered. We're about to
find out. Would you please help me? Welcome Bruce el Shiner,
Attorney for the Injured. Good morning, Bruce, Hey.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
Good morning part How are you doing this beautiful morning?
Speaker 1 (00:23):
I'm just fine. How about you?
Speaker 3 (00:25):
I'm excellent? Thank you.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
You can't be loving the weather, although knowing you you're
so positive about everything.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
You probably are, but I know you like it warmer
than this.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
I like it warmer, but when it's Friday and sunny,
you just can't beat it.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
Yeah, that's a nice combination, in my opinion. We can
agree on that. At least cooler Sonny. I'll take it,
sunny skies. That's something not everybody's enjoying in their life
right now, because problems do come up, and when we
receive an email like this one, you're the first person
that comes to mind.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
I've got today's question. Ready, Are you ready for it?
Speaker 3 (01:01):
Yes? I have ready?
Speaker 1 (01:02):
All right, here we.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Go, it says I recently found out my homeowner's insurance
excludes golf car injuries. My teenage son borrowed a neighbor's
golf cart and while riding on our street, was hit
by a car that turned too fast. He suffered a
shattered femur along with broken ribs, and it collapsed lung.
The driver has minimal insurance. Can a lawyer helped find
(01:25):
out who can be held accountable? I always say this,
but I mean it. It seems like there's a lot of
moving parts here. See if you can't maybe break it
down a little bit for us.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
Well, fortunately, it's a pretty simple situation.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
Oh good.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
The car that struck him is obviously responsible for all
of his damages, okay, unfortunate. Unfortunately that car didn't have
sufficient insurance coverage to take care of his damages. So,
(02:02):
when someone's in a accident with a motor vehicle and
the responsible party doesn't have enough coverage, or where do
we look for coverage? Our old it's our old friend
uninsured motorists coverage. So if that excuse me, if that
(02:23):
family or that hashold has uninsured motorist coverage, preferably stacking
uninsured motorist coverage, that coverage would paid for his medical
bills in the past, medical bills in the future, and
his pain and suffering. Okay, we look to our old
(02:46):
friends uninsured motorists coverage, whether there's whether there's coverage on
the golf cart or not, is really a lost leader
because it wasn't the golf cart. It's fault that he
was in an accident. It was in negligent motor vehicles driver.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
Yeah, okay, so this person was kind of looking the
wrong direction. They know their homemoto's insurance excludes golf cart coverage.
They should have been looking at their automobile policy instead.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
Well, there's one better than that time. Yeah, when you're
involved in a serious motive vehicle accident where there's substantial injuries, huh,
first thing you do is call it experienced personal injury lawyer.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
I knew you were going to say that, and you're
absolutely right. It's way too complicated to handle something like
this on your own. You need an advocate, and that
would be a legal professional, just like you just said,
absolutely And I'll give a number out here in a
second that might prove helpful in that endeavor. So thank
you once again. Does look like there is some possibility
(03:52):
of recovery here. I appreciate your time as always and
your knowledge and your wisdom.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
Brus Well, thank you, Todd. Looking forward to next one.
