Speaker 1 (00:00):
Big day for Team USA in the Winter Olympics yesterday.
We've got an update coming here in just a moment
for you.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
The first.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
It's at this point every Wednesday for over a decade now,
we have presented Ask the Lawyer with Bruce el Shiner,
Attorney for the Injured, answering questions provided by you. We'll
see if your question gets answered today, but first I
need your help and welcoming Bruce Elshiner, Attorney for the Injured.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Good morning Bruce, Hey, Good morning Todd. How are you
doing this beautiful morning?

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Excellence? Weather is warmed up a little bit, nothing but
blue Scott. How can you argue with that?

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Hey? This is the beautiful weather that brings all our
northern friends down to visit us.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
Yes, it's finally chamber of commerce weather we talk about
all the time.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
Ah, exactly.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
Got a question from somebody here. It's another one of
those finger pointing things, and I'm hoping you can kind
of work it out a little bit with us. Are
you ready to hear it?

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Yes, sir?

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Okay, here's what the email says. Today. My mother was
attending a community crowd fair at a park near Charlotte
Harbor when a temporary tent collapsed during windy conditions and
struck her. She suffered a head injury, broken ribs, and
has ongoing dizzyness that requires follow up care. The event
organizer says a tent company set everything up and is

(01:17):
denying fault. Can a lawyer help identify who should be
held responsible? And I know the answer to that is
a resounding yes, But beyond that, I'm out of my depth.
What do you make of this?

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Well, my first question is what happened to the good
old days when people took responsibility? Yeah for their actions?

Speaker 1 (01:36):
Yeap, you're right.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
But the answer to the question is twofold number one.
When you organize an event, you're inviting people to the event,
so you could profit from their attending the event. Right,
So the event organizer is responsible for the conditions surrounding

(01:59):
the event, and of course the company that put up
the tent would also be responsible. And we should note
that everyone knows that from time to time we get
some pretty significant wind gusts. When they put up the tent,
they have to make it strong enough to withstand the

(02:21):
possible wind gusts that might come at the time. So,
as usual, when someone involved in a serious accident where
they're injured, they should immediately first turn to a well
known personal injury attorney to help them sift it out.

(02:44):
This person is entitled to be reimbursed for all their
medical expenses, both in the past and in the future,
and especially for their pain and suffering and inconvenience in
the past and the future. And then the fears that
this person sustains some pretty significant injury with dizzyness which

(03:06):
indicates the head injury, right, so they're entitled to significant compensation.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
You know, wins along the harbor can be very unpredictable.
You really got to prepare for that kind of thing.
And it sounds like somebody dropped the ball on that
and now they need to step up and take responsibility. Responsibility.
I know that's the kind of thing that you specialize in, Bruce.
So I'm going to give the number out here in
just a second. But thank you so much. That's a
great response.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Well, thank you very much, and I look forward to
speaking with you again next Wednesday.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
Absolutely, have a great week. Take care now, Okay, bye bye,
ladies and gentlemen. Bruce el Shiner, Attorney for the Injured.
And if you find yourself in similar circumstances. I want
to make sure you know how to contact the Port
Charlotte Office of Associates and Bruce el Shiner. The number
is nine four one seven four three seven seven seven

(04:03):
