Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Battleground Podcast, your night for all things
for a wrestling and exclusive interviews with some of your
favorite wrestlers.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Found podcast Stop It, What Up?

Speaker 3 (00:24):
You guys? Welcome back into iHeartRadio's official wrestling podcast, The
Battleground Podcast. It is Battle from ninety five to seven QMF,
Louisville's rock station, and tonight is a big nights. We
got it going down and rub Arena, ae W Dynamite
and of course also Rampage following right after that. Tickets
available ticketmaster dot com. And on the show today we

(00:46):
got the real life Spider Man joining us on show.

Speaker 4 (00:50):
Fanchet Joyce.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
How are you, sir?

Speaker 4 (00:53):
I'm awesome, Thank you guys so much, and.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
We are excited to have you on the show. And
I first things first, let's just talk about it because
I keep going back to it. Big question out of
the way, what was it like walking into Wimbley Stadium?
And I know you've answered this question a million times
as the biggest free agent in wrestling. I go back
and watch that entrance of you just soaking it all in,
that big smile on your face.

Speaker 5 (01:16):
Those moments don't happen very often.

Speaker 6 (01:19):
Yeah, I mean I don't. I guess, I mean, I
guess what you said is I don't see it that well.
I don't see that's the biggest free agent that I
don't see it that way. But I appreciate that, But
I mean, it was awesome. Being able to debut in
such a historic arena was obviously awesome and my debut,

(01:41):
but it was also my debut in that arena. It
was my first time in that actual arena as well,
So that's cool to to mark such a historic arena
off the stadium or whatever you want to call it,
off of the bucket list. And then on top of that,
to be able to debut in front of all the
fans who were weren't expecting.

Speaker 4 (02:00):
Who knows, but it was just awesome.

Speaker 6 (02:02):
It was awesome feeling again, as soon as you walk
with the curtain, you're in, you're in, you know, you're
in your sport mode.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
Basically you're ready to go.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Yeah, for sure. And I think that was one of
those things is like, as wrestling fans, we kind of
all knew that you that was gonna be the show
that we were going to see Ricochet. Now where we
were going to see him, we didn't know, and then
just to see, you know, Ricochet fly across the led wall,
you come out with your hood down, like and I
go back to it because I was watching it earlier again,

(02:31):
just I saw the pure happiness and joy in your
face just stepping out there, and you hear people chanting
your name, everybody yell and cheered to a massive pop.
I think you had a much bigger pop than Jeff
Jarrett did.

Speaker 5 (02:46):
We're just saying a lot.

Speaker 6 (02:49):
No, and that's saying a lot. He's a legend. No, yeah,
it's it's it's awesome, man. It's awesome to be able
to experience that. And I think honestly, just being able
to perform, being able to just yeah, being able to
perform as awesome to me. So to see people excited

(03:09):
about that is great.

Speaker 5 (03:11):
Yeah, this is kind of an ingest, you know, so
you don't have to give a full answer anything, but uh,
have you and Moxley had a chance to discuss how
you two were written off TV from your previous company yet?

Speaker 4 (03:25):
I actly, No, we never, that's never, but.

Speaker 5 (03:29):
Yeah, yeah, it's just yeah. Anyways, so it seems like
everyone is really eager for Ricoshet and Ospray. Obviously it's
always a dream match for a lot of us. I
know you've touched on it a little bit since you've
left previously and you're in AW. Now you know, what
was your relationship with him while you were signed to
the big conglomerate and he was on the INDs and

(03:51):
then you know he went out to AW and you know,
have you guys, I don't want to say any contact. Yeah,
I don't want to say like jealous of him or anything,
but like, was there any you were there? Any like
maybe he was jealous that you've made it there or
was it you jealous of him? Headlined?

Speaker 4 (04:09):
I don't think.

Speaker 6 (04:10):
I don't think anybody is jealous of anybody in the
wrestling business.

Speaker 4 (04:14):
Really.

Speaker 6 (04:14):
I mean I'm sure there are, but again, my core,
my people, my circle, the people that I'm around, nobody,
like nobody is jealous of anybody. And again I'm sure
there are egos and there are people. I'm sure of it.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
Yeah, But.

Speaker 6 (04:30):
As far as we go, I mean, again, we've been
in contact basically the whole time. A lot of the
guys over over here at AW we've we've been in
contact the whole time. We never changed, so that kind
of helped also make the transition a little easier because
we've always been in contact, so that kind of helped too.

Speaker 4 (04:48):
But yeah, me and Will, we've always been there.

Speaker 6 (04:50):
We've always you know, whether it's competed or just talked whatever,
but we've always been there for each other. And now
we just get to express it, you know, on you know,
we get to finally express it, you know, to the matches.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
I would say, yeah, and once once that happens, because
we know inevitably it's going to happen, the entire wrestling
community is going to rejoice for this match once we
get Ospray and Ricochet again.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
You know.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
The thing about AW is we've had these conversations with
a lot of people of them coming over to AW
of the possibility of dream Matches being able to work
outside of the company. We're so called dream matches. Ever
a consideration in your decision coming to AW, because you know,
you've got a lot of people there that you know
that you've had matches with. But there's even more chances

(05:39):
to have those dream matches.

Speaker 6 (05:44):
I guess in a way, yeah, but not necessarily like
the dream matches.

Speaker 4 (05:51):
It well, the biggest decision was the biggest decision.

Speaker 6 (05:55):
Was I felt like aew was gonna uh, you know,
ignite that flame that that was there, that's been there,
but it's kind of dwindled down inside of me.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
But I feel like a w.

Speaker 6 (06:11):
Will ignite that, you know, will be the gasoline to
throw on the fire to really you know, ignite that spark.
And but and that has a lot to do with
the talent that are there, because I know what we
are going to be capable of producing and uh, but
not necessarily specifically dream matches that I was thinking of,

(06:33):
you know, and like I was, I was saying, since uh,
since I've got to aw it seems like there's a
line for people who want to fight me, you know,
whether that's Don Calb and Kyle Fletcher or Osprey was
about to come out and say something, but then Pat
came out and decided he was going to say something,
and so it seems like everybody else has got something
to say already. So it seems like I got to

(06:56):
start with that line first and then I can deal
with everything else, you know.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
I got I gotta think as as again a wrestling fan,
I think the one match that I am I am
craving for, and I don't know if I need to
like d M. Tony or whatever. I need to see
Ricochet and Hologram go at it on.

Speaker 5 (07:12):
A Oh there you go.

Speaker 4 (07:14):
I've seen some rumblings on that.

Speaker 6 (07:16):
I mean.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
Just I'm also here and get goosebumps about thinking about
that match. Is just how high flying, how like fast
paced that would be, and how awesome it'll be.

Speaker 6 (07:28):
Yeah, he's definitely somebody that's on the list as well.

Speaker 4 (07:32):
Absolutely.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (07:33):
My dream is now, we just got spoiled to this event,
so we won't have it again in Nashville for a while.
But blood and Guts I think a two high flying
teams like based in that, Like you're still gonna get
violent stuff like that, But I'd like to see with
like what like you know, top flight could do in
a blood and Guts match or you Yeah.

Speaker 4 (07:53):
I think.

Speaker 5 (07:55):
Yeah, you know so, I think there's a lot of
potential there. We could dream book with you all day
if you want to do so. But you know so,
haven't haven't just performed on Wimbley you said it checked
it off your list. A W has also had their
stars performing in the Tokyo Dome and Arena Mexico to
other just legendary arenas putting you on the spot. Do

(08:15):
you have an all time favorite wrestling arena you have
performed in and now that wimbley.

Speaker 6 (08:20):
Yes, Honestly, my all time favorite is probably Cordakin Hall
mm hmmm, uh, Kodak and I just had a lot
of memories there.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
I've had a lot of great matches.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (08:33):
The energy that is just always there every time. That
one probably is my.

Speaker 4 (08:40):
Favorite, solid choice, But one I've never one I never
did was the Hammerstein Ballroom, So that one always seems
exciting too.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
There you go, that'd be a that'd be a solid
one for sure. Yeah. So of course, today, where as
we're sitting here getting prepared for this interview, we get
some big announcements about Ricochet and uh just got word
that you're going to be doing an event in a
Sokka uh for Gleat on October six. Are there any
promotions that have gotten maybe your attention since your last

(09:10):
run on the Indies that you are really really wanting
to work with now that you have that capability to
do it.

Speaker 6 (09:17):
I mean yeah, I mean there's there's there's there's a
there's tons now I mean not tons, but there's a
lot out there that I've been watching obviously, you got
your GCWS, you got even in Wa was making a
comeback there for a second. There's a lot of companies
out there, and really it's it's it's more about just

(09:38):
which one this really makes me want to feel something,
And I don't know. All of them are good and
all of them are options. That's the thing. So now
it's just for me. It's deciding when and where and
how and what and why more than than anything because
it's been so long. So now I just got to
get back into that the swing of those things, deciding

(09:59):
where and and because I've also found out that I
love being.

Speaker 4 (10:04):
At my house. M Yeah, even for me to leave
my house because I got my.

Speaker 6 (10:11):
Family, my dogs, my games, my everything that I love it,
I literally don't want to leave my house. So but
now to leave my house, it's going to take a
lot to get me to leave my house. So something
like this being able to tag team with my former
you know, partner Shima since literally so that that's something
that really, you know, gets me excited. And so if

(10:32):
something really makes me feel something like that and gets
me excited, I'll do it.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
Yeah, for sure.

Speaker 5 (10:37):
Nice and kind of piggybacking off that this was probably
replace a question we're gonna ask Zach Saber Junior won
the g One this year, do you have any interest
in competing in that prestigious tournament.

Speaker 4 (10:50):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (10:50):
Absolutely, that would be a big out of the house
requirement for sure.

Speaker 4 (10:56):
But yeah, yeah absolutely.

Speaker 6 (10:59):
I mean I already won the best the Super Junior,
so I feel like now I should upgrade my my
goals to the g One for sure. And actually, obviously
there's still a lot of things in New Japan that
I didn't get to accomplish that I still plan on
accomplishing big time.

Speaker 4 (11:18):
Yeah. Absolutely.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
So you know, here's some fun stuff because we always
like to kind of throw weave in and out of
the interviews and ask fun questions, and sometimes we turn
to chat GPT to ask our guests a question. Sometimes
we have to kind of smack it around because it's
always like, how did you get your start in wrestling?
So we have to refresh it because anybody can see
how you got your start in wrestling, But the chat

(11:42):
GPT has one that's going to make you really think today,
although you had if you had to wrestle a super
villain from any comic book universe. But the match takes
place in a ball pit. Who are you picking?

Speaker 2 (11:55):
And why.

Speaker 4 (11:57):
Ball super villains?

Speaker 6 (12:03):
Oh no, so I guess super villain. Let me think,
because everyone's pretty capable. M but if I had to
fight somebody in a ballpit, I guess it depends on

(12:25):
how big the ball pit is as well.

Speaker 3 (12:27):
Yeah, it's the size of a normal wrestler.

Speaker 4 (12:31):
Perfect.

Speaker 6 (12:32):
Uh, I would say, Oh man, I can't really say
him either, but I'm trying to think, maybe like you
got to pick someone like Alex Luthor or something who's
more smart than they are physically gifted. So I was
trying to think. I was gonna say, like Norman Osborne,

(12:54):
but obviously you can't say him because he's actually the
Green Goblin. Yeah so yeah, maybe so one like a
like a Lex Luthor, even though Lex Luthor's jacked and
he's he's fairly capable of handling him himself. But most
most super villains have some sort of power, so.

Speaker 5 (13:11):
Right thinking, I was thinking Juggernaut at first, maybe the
ball slow him down. No, you got to get his
mask off, so.

Speaker 4 (13:20):
You're yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, Juggernaut.

Speaker 3 (13:22):
Maybe Magneto since there's no magnets.

Speaker 5 (13:24):
In there, now see that's what I was thinking. Now
if they were metal, I.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
Don't know why.

Speaker 4 (13:29):
I mean in the middle of a field.

Speaker 5 (13:32):
Yeah, we get to make the rules.

Speaker 6 (13:38):
Yeah, I mean, yeah, I guess yeah, maybe Magneto. No,
I'm still go Lex Luthor over Magneto just in case
he's gonna pull like I don't know, remember see the movie.
You remember the movie when he pulled it out of
his body.

Speaker 4 (13:50):
So yeah, yeah, so I'm gonna I'm still gonna go
from that one. And I'm sure there's probably somebody even
easier I'm not thinking of.

Speaker 1 (13:59):
Yeah, yeah for sure.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
Well, I know that we don't have much too much.
We don't have much time left in this interview because
I know you're a busy man being, you know, the
biggest free agent signing with aw that.

Speaker 4 (14:10):
You know.

Speaker 3 (14:11):
We have a lot of things to talk about. But
the last thing that I do have a question for
because we go back and me and Eli had this
conversation before.

Speaker 4 (14:18):
We go back way back.

Speaker 3 (14:20):
And I think Eli got back into wrestling around the
time of Luca Underground. Is there any potential and we
asked this to Swerve a long time ago, if he
would don the kill shot mac Mask is there any
potential that maybe we might see a Prince Puma mask somewhere.

Speaker 6 (14:38):
I mean, people will keep asking, but that's like they
own that character. Guys, they own all of that. That's
not all our stuff to even. I mean, so I
guess if they wanted to contact Luca and try to
get the rights to use the thing and do the
I guess maybe, but all their stuff, that's all their stuff.

Speaker 3 (14:55):
Yeah, Cause see, I didn't know if it's one of
those things like you would just want to just kind
of incorporate it as the end of a match and then.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
Just get rid of it.

Speaker 6 (15:02):
Definitely plan on, definitely already planning some throwbacks and stuff
for sure. That that's always going to be tied in
there for sure. But as far as like the actual
stuff goes like they own all that, so.

Speaker 5 (15:18):
Yeah, mostly Yeah, I mean it got you to this place.
We'll leave it at that. That was a stepping stone
and now.

Speaker 6 (15:25):
You're absolutely it was a great, a great moment of time,
and I think what we were doing was awesome, and like, well, that's.

Speaker 4 (15:34):
That's the thing they were They were trying to make
it different.

Speaker 6 (15:36):
They were trying to be a TV drama about a
wrestling company and not just another wrestling company on television.
So they were trying to really be like a television
show about a wrestling company. So that was a really
cool aspect and I think it really did help.

Speaker 4 (15:58):
Wrestling become cool again.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
Well.

Speaker 6 (16:01):
So, yeah, I was really happy with everything that all
the guys were doing. You know, the Brian Cages, the
Luja Brothers, Johnny Mundoz, you know, everybody was really putting
in work.

Speaker 5 (16:10):
Yeah. Yeah, And it was one of those where like,
hopefully there's more positive than negative, but it was just
it was one of the shows where literally every week
I was seeing something I'd never seen before.

Speaker 6 (16:20):
Yeah, it was just like I speak from my experiences,
and my whole experience was awesome.

Speaker 4 (16:26):
They were great.

Speaker 6 (16:27):
They were so nice, and like you said, everybody was,
especially the group of guys we had and girls, like
everybody was really leveling up and taking it to the
next level.

Speaker 4 (16:39):
It was and again I.

Speaker 6 (16:42):
Said before, so when I stopped doing The Luja Underground again,
it was something different. It was trying to be an alternative.
It was trying to, you know, do something new with wrestling.
So if aw had been around at that time, I'm
positive that's the direction I would win in you know
what I mean, Because again, like it was, all these

(17:04):
guys and girls over there that are over at aw
right now are the people that I've had like the
most fun times in my career with. So it's cool
to now be around them again and you know, get
all those feelings back.

Speaker 4 (17:18):
Yeah, absolutely, for sure.

Speaker 3 (17:20):
Well, I know that you're a busy man, and we
don't want to take up too much your time because
you got to get ready for aw Dynamite tonight there
at rap Arena, which, by the way, you can still
grab tickets ticketmaster dot com. But before we let you go,
is there anything you want to say to the listeners
right now that are watching or listening to this.

Speaker 6 (17:37):
I mean, I always got something to say. You can
catch me at King Ricochet on Instagram and Twitter. Go
follow along with this new journey that we're about to
go on. It's gonna be awesome, and get ready for
a wild ride. It's gonna be it's gonna be fun.
