by Todd and deb of Fuego Hard. It is an

(01:11):
alcoholic ginger beer. You've heard of ginger beer. Everybody's heard
of ginger beer. You've you've had it if if you've
ever had a Moscow mule, you've had it mixed into
your drink, but you haven't had State Side. And I
specifically say state Side because apparently in Australia this is
already huge.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
Is an alcoholic ginger beer, and that's.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
Where you guys have sort of cornered the market here
in the United States. Welcome to the show, Todd, Debb,
thank you for joining us. Yeah, we're thrilled to have
you on with us, and we're thrilled to be drinking
some of this Fuego Hard. It is the first alcoholic
ginger beer I've ever had. I'm pretty sure I'm speaking
for the whole show when I say that it's the
first we've we've ever had in studio.

Speaker 4 (01:52):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, this is this is delicious. So
we started drinking this maybe an hour ago. Sorry about that.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
So I guess let's take us back here.

Speaker 4 (02:04):
How did you guys start this journey that you decided
you know what we need is an alcoholic ginger beer.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
Well, it's interesting.

Speaker 5 (02:12):
Both Deb and I have normal jobs, but as a
little side thing, we used to run big events. We
started his sporting events, then we moved to beer events,
and we had a ginger beer company in Australia that
used to hit us up every event and say we
want to be part of your event. And then we
just saw the lights and we just went this ginger
beer thing's going to take off. Fast forward six years later,

(02:33):
alcoholic ginger beer in Australia a billion dollar business.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Fifty brands of alcoholic ginger beer.

Speaker 5 (02:40):
If you think Budweiser and Mick Michelab, those guys, they
all have in Australia equivalent their own ginger beer as
part of the portfolio. Okay, so when we came out
in twenty two, we got engaged out here in America,
in New York, we noticed that there was no alcoholic
ginger beer here in the States. So we're sitting at
laa flying home and Deb said we need to bring

(03:02):
something to America and I couldn't work out what, and
Deb said, we've been looking for alcoholic ginger beer all
summer here in the States, and then that's basically the idea.
And we sort of waited twelve months because we thought
someone's going to do it. No one did it, and
then we got to jump on this. So we actually
then brought a bunch of brands over, did some testing,
and then we worked out what California has loved, and

(03:26):
then we worked with a local business here in alcohol
and that actually helped us come up with the recipe
and we managed to get two good flavors, spicy and original,
and now we brew it out of out of ocean side.

Speaker 4 (03:40):
The first one we cracked open was the original, and
I mean you poured it over ice, you put a
lime in it, and it was wonderful.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
I mean, it's just a tasty, tasty drink.

Speaker 6 (03:50):
Well, that was actually the second one that Rich had
because the first one he had.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
The first he had, went down in less than two seconds.

Speaker 7 (03:58):
Less than one and a half second, really.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
Exaly, it was delicious, and I would suggest that's the
way you should enjoy a fueg hard.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
Shotgun. Yeah yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
Yeah, I mean, and honestly, soak yourself with it.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
My skin has never glowed more none benefit you drink. Yeah, exactly.
Ginger does have some spacial benefits. They come in four packs,
so h so if you drink them like rich, you'll
be done in six seconds.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
That's right. Yeah, yeah, you just have to have him
pre carved open. Uh that too.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
That was the longest part of that whole process. But
I will say on the aftertaste, because that's all you
get when you shotgun a fuego hard. It was delightful,
and then sipping it over ice was incredible.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
And then we've continued to venture down this.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
Path where you guys mixed it with a little whiskey
and at first when you served it to me, I'm like, oh,
I'm not gonna like that.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
And then I took the first nip and I'm like,
oh my god, whiskey ginger. Yeah, of course it works.
It goes well with gene as well. Yeah. And what's
the other Yeah yeah wow.

Speaker 4 (05:03):
So yeah, the whiskey ginger was delightful.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
That went well.

Speaker 4 (05:08):
Now you've handed us the spicy here the can of
the spicy, and I'm curious to taste this one.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
Was it?

Speaker 1 (05:14):
Way?

Speaker 4 (05:15):
Was the ginger beer with the spicy or the whiskey
ginger yeah, oh that was what spicy too.

Speaker 5 (05:19):
Yeah, so it's just a little bit of chili in there.
It gives you a little bit of kick, a little
bit of off taste. Oh man, that's that is such
a number one seller. Were selling two to one on
the Spicy really. Okay, So we've.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
Had a number of canned cocktails come through and they're
really really good, but.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
This one stands out. Man.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
I mean this one, it doesn't really taste like a
canned cocktail to me.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
This one tastes like you're mixing a drink. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (05:45):
Absolutely, And even in Australia they actually serve it draft
at bars. One in four beers at a bar is
a ginger beer. Now, so it's a little bit of
males struggle a little bit with drinking beers. They get
a bit bloated, They just need something a little bit.
You can drink this all day long.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
So that that is where I think this really wins
for me is as I get older. I'm about to
reach level four as I call it. I'm going to
be turning forty in twenty twenty six February, and I
think to myself, like, when I sit down and have beer,
especially the IPA culture. It's really exploded here in San Diego.
It's great, don't get me wrong. There's so many flavors

(06:25):
that I like to enjoy. But that feeling you just
described it's a problem. Like you know when you're when
you're you know, having a couple of drinks with friends,
it's great, but then you walk away and you're like, I.

Speaker 5 (06:35):
Feel awful, absolutely get a little bloated. And you don't
want to switch to a hard ten percenter either. You
just want to have something a bit more sessionable, so
you can actually have four or five of them, whereas
if you just jump straight to hard liquor, you might
be one two And.

Speaker 4 (06:49):
Well, I'm gonna start using the word sessionable. I've never before,
but I like it.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
Tell you go home? Yeah yeah, listen, hun, I just
quick sessionable. That's like, that's.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
Honestly the way I think I should be enjoyed.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
Sessions.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
Yeah, I mean, yeah, you don't want you don't want
the full forty Yeah, it's y at the time a
time time.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
It's a Sloan trip, man. You know what you guys
are from Australia.

Speaker 4 (07:22):
I would be uh bemissed if I didn't ask were
you rooting for Steve Irwin and Dancing with the Stars Steven.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
Yeah, lady, either way, either way, I'm still I'm still
rooting for Steve come back. We all uh so.

Speaker 5 (07:40):
Actually, funny story, we actually live in the same suburb
as the Owens back on the Sunshine cast. Yeah, I said,
the zoo is literally ten minutes from out front door.

Speaker 7 (07:50):
I went to your zoo last year.

Speaker 6 (07:52):
Yeah, and the Irwins were all there doing the alligators.

Speaker 7 (07:55):
The crocodile, whoa, don't.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
Offend him like I did. He wasn't. He wasn't the
alligator hunter. Let me ask you. There was a cloak
and I and I put him my finger in him ranch.
But that's exactly what he said.

Speaker 3 (08:13):
And how else are you gonna sex the crocodile? About
crocodile dundee?

Speaker 1 (08:19):
Uh. Paul Hogan did a lot for Austraa back in
the Holy Day.

Speaker 6 (08:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
He threw a shrimp on the barbie. Yeah, and we
actually never do that. You guys don't know shrimps on
the bobby. We don't this trimph what are you?

Speaker 1 (08:33):
Oh my god?

Speaker 4 (08:35):
Pros on the bye. We throw meat on the bobby,
not usually seafood. Kangaroo exactly.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
Root me absolutely, kangaroos in out front yard and you
eat them? Did you walk outside and just grab a room?
But he wrestle was out.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
You're gonna you gotta box the room and then bring
it to the back to throwing.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
On the body. There's a butcher down the ride. I'm
gonna be honest with you.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
That is the coolest thing I've ever heard in my life.
I just picture now Dead and Todd. They're starting in
the morning. They're sipping coffee and Dev goes Oi dinnis
on the front yard. Then Todd comes sprinting out and
tackles and wrestles dinner to the ground and brings him
to the butcher down the block to fe That is

(09:31):
the coolest thing you've ever heard.

Speaker 1 (09:35):

Speaker 3 (10:45):

think we're gonna have to bring it back.

Speaker 1 (10:50):

we there's no way the super Bowl is on Valentine's
It's getting.

Speaker 8 (10:58):
Closer on Okay, it's on February eighth, So that means

which is nine days before your birthday.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
Okay, okay, so thirty nine for nine days.

Speaker 3 (11:13):
I'm not gonna make it at forty probably not even
the Big Game.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
Tailgate on man, not with hard Okay. So two years
ago we had.

Speaker 8 (11:22):
Sessionable though we had a go at the Big Game
tail gate a couple of years ago.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
This year, Todd, you're cooking a kangaroo at the game.
Can you get a live kangaroo? And then in four
hours can it be ready to eat? Can we have
ruburgers by the end? You gotta be can't beat. I
don't have a cook group because if you have a
cook it's really tough. What is computable to Yeah? What
what would you probably like? Crocodile? Which makes sense? Yeah,

(11:52):
the crocodile.

Speaker 7 (11:54):
Yeah, yeah, they're strong, so it makes sense.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
That's it? Probably just me. Yeah, good approach. You love it.
I am all about it.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
I will eat I honestly, I'll try any this all
this is so bad, you'll try any meat once.

Speaker 1 (12:09):

Speaker 8 (12:10):
Way to go on the isolate that the quote is
from rich Ornberger. I would like to try panda one
time in my life. It's not talking about.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
Express no, okay, So you go to the zoo and
it might be fast the panda it's beautiful, yes it is.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
Then there's no question they're durable. But I mean, nobody.

Speaker 3 (12:27):
Else has had that thought come across their mind, where.

Speaker 1 (12:30):
Like the like the cat, like a panic kebab. When
you look at an elephant, do you think I wonder
what that elephant is? Yeah? Actually I do. There's actually
a same think about what does a girafte taste like?
They used to survive off of mammoth meat.

Speaker 4 (12:47):
And also I don't ever think I wonder what the
mammoth taste is?

Speaker 3 (12:50):
A saying how do you eat an elephant one bite
at a time?

Speaker 1 (12:54):
How do you think they got to that logic? I
do believe it's the size. The size they're talking. Have
you ever seen the movie ten thousand BC. I took
it very literally.

Speaker 8 (13:03):
The whole thing in that movie is they start the
movie with a hunt of a mammoth.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
Speaking of eating out Back Steakhouse.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
Would you consider that.

Speaker 1 (13:18):

Speaker 7 (14:13):
He didn't take pants on.

Speaker 4 (14:15):
You. You nearly saw pantsless Rich. Okay, I mean moments before,
Fletch was being really disrespectful of.

Speaker 1 (14:23):
Cat earlier, and I'm always being disrespectful of TD. No no, no,
no no.

Speaker 4 (14:27):
You were being disrespectful of Cat because you took her
job by answering folks, Yeah you did.

Speaker 3 (14:33):
TD threatened you to the belt, and I threw my
pants out. Why did I take that job Cat?

Speaker 6 (14:38):
Because I didn't do it, but Cat said.

Speaker 4 (14:43):
Cat said yesterday that we're supposed to start yelling at
people if they disrespect her.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
Oh my god, So we immediately.

Speaker 4 (14:49):
Started yelling at Fletcher, disrespecting Cat, disrespect her.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
The more we have, the easier that becomes you.

Speaker 8 (14:59):
No, I yeah, how easy it is to jot down
information over the phone.

Speaker 1 (15:02):
When I hear TD screaming, Oh my god, I almost
so rich as waiter.

Speaker 3 (15:06):
Okay, it's so easy. I hadn't completely covered up. I
don't believe I use. I don't believe I used the
word weed. You did not.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
You're trying to get some more followers.

Speaker 3 (15:20):
Let's go live on Instagram. Do that censor bar. It's
more of a cube than a rectangle. Huh, it'll be fine.

Speaker 4 (15:30):
I always said, if I was going to go on
naked and afraid, the first thing I'd put in the
contract is, no matter what, you have to blur me
to my knees, no matter what, please, just you have
to do that.

Speaker 6 (15:46):
Do you have budgie smudgels smuggless say it again, budge
budgie smugglers.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
What's a budgie smuggler. Is that all right?

Speaker 7 (15:53):
Well, if you can, if you can work.

Speaker 9 (15:55):
It out, yeah, hold on, can I google budgie smuggler?

Speaker 7 (15:59):
No, no, no, don ye, you can work it out.
We'll get you a pair.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
Oh my god, if you can't wait, wait wait wait wait?
Are these like Aussie bums? Okay? About right?

Speaker 3 (16:13):
Okay, okay, so the okay smuggler sounds like you've been
to prison. Okay, So I have a photo at my
wedding of me and all of my groomsmen wearing what
are called Aussie bums. I saw them because you you know,
the thunder from down under the performance.

Speaker 1 (16:33):
It's like a bunch of us trip. I know.

Speaker 7 (16:38):
I have a crazy sign on that that we can.

Speaker 1 (16:40):
Get here to. My wife got pulled on stage at
one of those.

Speaker 3 (16:42):
Okay, yeah, I'm almost positive I want to, like, you know,
because ever since you make it a yearly event, like
you know, so you're in your twenties, we're all going
to bachelor parties and bachelor at parties. And at one
point and he goes, oh my god, we went to
thunder down under one of her girlfriends bachelor parties, which
is a male strip. Yes, exactly. It's like a big stage.

(17:05):
It's Magic Mike, but Australia, thank you. It's a theater
of thousands, and they're all watching just hot, greased up
Australian men on stage. Okay, so they're wearing these Aussy
bum underwear and as a goof she bought me some
for Christmas.

Speaker 1 (17:19):
So I wasn't a goof it.

Speaker 4 (17:22):
So are they like, is that what we're talking about?

Speaker 1 (17:25):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (17:26):
They're like speedo under a like your your jockey briefs,
except they have a pouch in front, not unlike a room.
All right, and you take the whole do you take
the whole Joey, the whole thing, Joey.

Speaker 1 (17:41):
Joey goes to the pouch. Take right, budge the budge,
the budget. That's Budgie smuggle.

Speaker 3 (17:52):
So Joey and his friends are tucked into a pouch
and it prominently displays it forward.

Speaker 1 (17:58):
We're on YouTube talking about a penis.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
Anyways, Wait, you mean sit up and puts it on display.

Speaker 1 (18:09):
It's like schemes or a push up profit.

Speaker 3 (18:11):
Mandy when I tell you, these are fantastic.

Speaker 1 (18:16):
So I wore the I wore these Aussie bums around
the house. Two of them.

Speaker 3 (18:20):
I mean as much support as I could get, and
I for for my my, my groomsmen. At my wedding,
I had everybody. I wore a pair of whites. They
wore a pair of blacks, and everybody in my groom,
my groomsmen party, put these on.

Speaker 1 (18:36):
And one of our photos is us.

Speaker 3 (18:37):
Leaping in Hawaii wearing Aussie bums with our hands hold
held and we're all budgie smuggling.

Speaker 1 (18:43):
It's hard. It's hard for me to imagine. Can you
send me that mone?

Speaker 3 (18:50):
So anyways, a long way to say, Deb, I'm right
there with you.

Speaker 1 (18:54):
Yeah, do you wear a budget smugglers?

Speaker 3 (18:57):
Now?

Speaker 1 (18:57):
Well, actually usually met the lawn.

Speaker 3 (19:01):
Absolutely, That is how you came up with the.

Speaker 1 (19:07):
Name Sego Horror. Well, and sometimes I gotta wrestle a
roof and distract them. Yeah, they don't know, I don't know. Yeah,
fish bab catch room. Okay.

Speaker 6 (19:32):
So when I was in Australia, this was last this
is January of twenty twenty four.

Speaker 7 (19:36):
So we were walking.

Speaker 6 (19:37):
We're somewhere near the Gold Coast, I think we're near
Byron Bay probably, and we're like out hanging out for
the day, and I'm went, I went to I went
two of my girlfriends and we walked past and we
went to Australia with the mindset of we're going to
see a really hot Australian men in this place. We
were left, I mean lots of dead books.

Speaker 10 (19:57):
Yeah, we did it.

Speaker 6 (19:58):
We weren't seeing a lot of hot he is out
in Australia. So we walked past this group of guys
and we were like, whoa, we are finally seeing the
hot guys. So my friend Shiva turns to us as
soon as they passed. She said, I think, I know.
I think that's one of.

Speaker 7 (20:12):
The thunder from down on her.

Speaker 6 (20:13):
I think I sat on his lap and base and
I was like, there's not a shot.

Speaker 7 (20:18):
In hell that that's one of the thunder from.

Speaker 1 (20:20):
Down on her.

Speaker 6 (20:21):
She's like, I swear to She's like, I follow him
on Instagram's I.

Speaker 1 (20:25):
Never forget a buggy.

Speaker 6 (20:27):
She turns and follows this man. He had gone up
the stairs to like a restaurant. She's like, I have
to She's.

Speaker 4 (20:33):
Like, I have to go.

Speaker 7 (20:35):
She follows him up the stairs and yes, and my
other friend.

Speaker 6 (20:38):
Kate and I are watching from the base of the stairs,
were filming and we realized this is the thunder from
down Under. She successfully recognized him. They invited us out
to lunch.

Speaker 1 (20:48):
It was a whole just pieces of meat. Follow knows that.

Speaker 7 (20:53):
You were not just me, but this man was to her.

Speaker 1 (20:59):
Back cows the most Australian place.

Speaker 5 (21:03):
