What would you do if you had the perfect excuse every time you forgot something important?

In this edition ofDirty Little Secret,a listener reveals how a serious car accident left him with legitimate short-term memory loss, but over the years he's discovered an unexpected benefit. Whenever he forgets an anniversary, misses an errand, or drops the ball on something his wife asked him to do, he admits he sometimes leans a little too heavily on his condition to get himself out of trouble. While his memory issues are real, he confesses that not every forgotten task can be blamed on the accident. The confession sparked a hilarious debate between Billy, Candice, and Producer Pooh. Is he taking advantage of a difficult situation, or is this simply a husband finding a clever way to survive life's little mistakes? The conversation quickly turned into one of the funniest moments of the show as the crew questioned where the line is between an honest explanation and a convenient excuse

Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's dirty little secret with billy the kid in the
morning on mix 102.9 brought to you by mint dentistry
all right if you got a secret 833-787-1029 and make
it good anytime you want you can confess just call
us up it's billy the kid candace lopez producer poo
you got a secret.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
So this confession my wife would absolutely kill me if
she ever found out but uh I tend to lie
about how bad my memory loss actually is.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
You lie about your memory loss? Yeah. Okay. But you
do have memory loss? Tell us the situation.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Well, so a few years ago, I was in a
pretty serious car accident on the 35. Oh, gosh. So
a guy fell asleep behind the wheel and rear-ended me
when I was coming home from work. I ended up
hospitalized with a pretty bad concussion. And afterwards, I started
dealing with some memory loss, specifically short term. That part

(01:02):
is actually true.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
So, well, that's scary.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
So you did have some memory loss when you went
to the doctor or whatever.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
They figured that out.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Well, I put like my secret. I definitely use it
to my advantage.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Oh, no. It's not funny. I don't mean to laugh. Oh.
What do you mean you... I've heard of people doing
this with hearing loss before, but... What?

Speaker 2 (01:28):
I've heard....

Speaker 3 (01:31):
God. Okay, sorry. I'm so immature. So what do you do?

Speaker 2 (01:36):
So you know what I'm talking about.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
Exactly. I just picked it up. I picked up on it.
So what do you... Yeah, what exactly goes down?

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Yeah. So like every other husband on the planet, sometimes
I forget things and Sometimes her wife asks me to
pick something up or do, like, a to-do list and
plans she told me about. And I've actually forgotten our
anniversary before.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Sorry, babe.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
It's not good. Yeah, it's not good. But you have
an issue.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
Yeah. So, like, whatever she's upset, I kind of pull
out the, like, babe, you know my condition. And, you know,
it's really hard for me to remember certain things. And
it pretty much works.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
Oh.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Oh.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
This is funny, but not funny. Well, yeah. What is
she going to say? But you're not lying. Yeah, you
can't come back to that. Yeah. You can't come back. Well, sorry.
I have memory loss. I got hit.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Right.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
Yeah. I mean, what do you want me to do? Yeah,
you almost lost me. You almost lost me, and now
you're yelling at me? You're going to throw that at her? Yeah.
Did you forget, wifey?

Speaker 1 (02:37):
Did you forget you almost lost me, and now you're
yelling at me because I forgot every anniversary.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
We've ever had? Just the times I had to buy
a gift. I'm traumatized every time I go down 35, girl.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
The thing about it is, though, is can't you just go, hey,
let me set that in my phone at some time?

Speaker 3 (02:51):
Right. That's a good point.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
But sometimes you forget that.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
If it's short-term memory loss, as soon as it pops up,
I forgot.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
I already forgot. I think I have memory loss, too, sir. So,
you know what? It is what it is. But she understands.
She goes with it, obviously. You're still together.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
Yeah. I mean, you know, I do forget.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
I forget things.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
But, like, half the time when I forget something my
wife told me, it's not the conditions. It's just me
being an idiot.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
Oh, God.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
That's fair.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
Yeah, I've used it at work, too.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
Really? How?

Speaker 2 (03:28):
Oh, yeah, when I've forgotten to do something, it works.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
I mean, maybe that's what poo's suffering from, and we
don't know. That's probably, yeah. When we go out to eat,
sometimes I forget. You forget to bring your wallet every time? Yeah,
I legit, and it's short-term memory loss. I think yours
is more long-term. It's long-term? I don't know what it is,
but it's something.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
Well, sir, good for you. I don't want to say
good for you. I don't know if I should advocate
and promote such behavior.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
Don't abuse this. But do what you got to do.
It's a superpower. It really is. That's not fair. Well, Candace,
it's not his fault. He got hit on 35. Well,
I know, but we're happy he's okay. He's not. He's
not okay. He's not okay. He's playing his wife. He
is not okay. Maybe he forgot that he forgot.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
And she forgot. Was she in the car when you
got hit or no? She was not. So it's not
her excuse. Or did you forget that she was in
the car?

Speaker 2 (04:26):
Oh, wow.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
There's a lot going on here.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
I know.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
Well, thank you, sir.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
And I hope, in all seriousness, I'm glad you're okay.
And I hope your memory loss gets better. But you
don't have to tell her that. You already forgot.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
Hey, thank you, sir. Thank you for that. We were here.
