I'm a Tough Construction Worker... But My Biggest Secret Is at the Spa

A listener who spends his days working construction and getting covered in dirt reveals a secret nobody in his life knows. Every other Friday, he's getting mani-pedis, Botox, facials, red-light therapy, and following a detailed skincare routine. While he knows self-care helps him feel and look his best, he's convinced his coworkers would never let him live it down if they found out. He even keeps it hidden from women he dates because he's worried they'll judge him.Billy, Candice, and Producer Pooh discuss changing perceptions of masculinity, taking care of yourself, and whether men should feel embarrassed about investing in self-care.

construction working, not that much.

Speaker 4 (01:09):
When we know we could drive a bulldozer or something. No,
I couldn't. I couldn't do that. I couldn't I do that.
You can do that, So you do it all. You
can do it in your whole life. But just having
a manni and petties not that bad.

Speaker 5 (01:21):
No, it sounds like you need it if you're you know,
working with your hands and stuff.

Speaker 4 (01:24):
Oh man.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
I mean, I don't know. The guys I work with,
they would not be They would not think that's cool

I've gotten botox.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
I like to call it protox.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
I got six different skincare products to use every single night,
and lately I'm doing red light therapy and I'm telling
you it's a game changer. Okay, I'm still manly as ever,
though I'm not saying you're not manly.

Speaker 5 (01:51):
Yeah, I mean, I'm telling you, guys for a facial No, I.

Speaker 4 (01:54):

The aesthetic society?

Speaker 3 (01:59):
Well, we're also not manly construction workers.

Speaker 4 (02:04):
My hands are so solid to try to look like
a model either.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
You know, I work outside in this Texas sunt all day.
If I don't take care of my skin, I'm gonna
look seventy by the time I'm fifty.

Speaker 4 (02:12):
Like half. My buddy got a good point.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
They're making fun of moisturizer and I'm and I'm you know,
and they're looking like an old leather baseball glove and
I'm trying to avoid that.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
Good for you.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
This should not be a secret. This should be accepted.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
And you know, and because I'm guilty of being sometimes
like I don't have a skincare routine. But Pooh just
made fun of me because I told him I had
a serum that I put under my eyes.

Speaker 4 (02:34):
Yeah, is that what it's called?

Speaker 1 (02:37):
Zerum serum?

Speaker 3 (02:40):
Whatever it is. It was expensive. It was like, well
I thought it was expensive. It probably wasn't in your world. Yeah,
but it was like twenty eight bucks.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
That's reasonable.

Speaker 4 (02:48):
Reasonable, that was to me.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
I'm unreasonable, but I did it because it's supposed to
make things look better.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
I mean, I get petties every now and then. It's
not enough. Wow, But if your friends would freak out
if they saw this, they ever.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
Caught me walking to the spot, I never hear the
end of it, So, for you know, my secret stays
between me, my addition, and apparently all you.

Speaker 4 (03:09):
Yeah, that's okay. Are you are you married or do
you have a girlfriend or what.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
I'm a single guy, so I don't even tell most girls,
most girls that I take, you know, because I feel
like they're gonna judge me.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
Let me ask.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
They probably looking at you.

Speaker 4 (03:24):
Oh they do, probably right, Oh they can tell? Yeah.
Can you tell if a guy's had botox? Yeah? How
do you do?

Speaker 1 (03:31):
I mean, it depends on how good it is. But
can you tell a woman?

Speaker 4 (03:34):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Okay, I feel like I can. But now all women
that have it are starting to all look alike.

Speaker 4 (03:40):
Yeah, so it's hard to say.

Speaker 5 (03:42):
There's trends that come and go with like placement and
where to put fillers.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
And yeah, I feel like people do it. They don't
do it as bad as it when it first came out.
Everybody everybody's doing.

Speaker 4 (03:50):
It a lot.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
Yeah, it looks way more natural.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Now does this freak you out? If you're if you're like,
he's single. Let's say you're single, Candis and a guy
has a skincare routine and he gets many pennies every
other Friday.

Speaker 4 (04:01):
Is this a red flag? Is it something you're into?

Speaker 1 (04:03):
I mean if he.

Speaker 5 (04:04):
Gets it more than me, then I'm like, I either
need to step my game.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
Up or you're doing too much.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
Okay, you know.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
But he has a whole skin like he does in
what is a red light therapy with.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
Yeah, I'll take you guys for that too, Okay.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
Is that the mask and all that?

Speaker 5 (04:21):
That's what I do do. Yeah, it's good for you.
But they have men's versions of the mask too. I
thought about getting eric one.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
So you just put a red light on your face?
What does it do?

Speaker 5 (04:31):
It just helps like collagen and build your skin and
like discolouration all sorts of Is.

Speaker 4 (04:37):
FDA approved or something?

Speaker 3 (04:41):
I mean, is this like one day we're gonna look
back and be like, we shouldn't have put that red light.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
On our face.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
I mean it's possible. That's with anything, you know?

Speaker 5 (04:48):
All right, Well, sir, you know what I know?

Speaker 4 (04:51):
Good for you. I think that you should do a
Manny Petty day with all your crew that would be
such a fun thing to watch.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
No, imagine if you took all the construction bros to
the MEDSPA.

Speaker 4 (05:03):
Don't do that.

Speaker 5 (05:05):
You could take them with us, surprised they might get
into it.

Speaker 4 (05:08):
Take them with us. We're going out. We're going to
the Aesthetic Society.

Speaker 5 (05:11):
You could.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
We'll all do a manny petty day.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
We're doing today there.

Speaker 4 (05:15):
We're doing a whole day. Yeah. I don't know what
it consists of, but we're going.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
Well, we have some surprises for you guys.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
I don't know if I want that, you too, trust me? Surprises? Yeah,
getting a manzillion? What what's a man zillion?

Speaker 1 (05:32):
They're not waxing you.

Speaker 4 (05:34):
I'm not getting waxed.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
I don't think they do that.

Speaker 5 (05:36):
They do like real like you know, injections, aesthetic stuff
like do they do BBL? Yeah, they do, well, a
version of that they do.

Speaker 4 (05:45):
