Art Selby, Rob mcglise, Marty Bowman and JC back in
the Fox Sports fourteen sixty studios. What a football game
we saw this afternoon and the Crusaders showed why they
are the defending state champs. Let me tell you, folks,
they showed some guts here this afternoon and they win
(28:40):
this game and walk off fashion thirty one twenty eight
on the Aidentrilla field goal as the clock expired. Just
trying to recap this game for you. Way back in
the first quarter, mcdebitt would score on a third and
twenty one fifty eight yard touchdown pass the Holton Junior
to put mcdebit up seven to nothing. That was a
score one Crusaders would score with eleven thirty six left
(29:03):
to play in the first half on an Ish Palmer
punt returned for a touchdown. It was a short punt,
Ish ran in. It was the heads up play fielded.
It just took it to the house with that speed.
Mcdebitt was up fourteen. Zip Mayellow would score on a
field goal from twenty eight yards out to make it
fourteen three.
Speaker 4 (29:21):
Mcdebitt.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
Crusaders would drive down the field again, throw an interception
this time though, and this time the Indians would drive
down the field. New Paver would score to make it
fourteen to ten mcdebit from five yards out. Crusaders the
answer back immediately on a Swoops forty two yard touchdown
run to put mcdebit up twenty one ten at the half.
We went to the third quarter and then things got
(29:44):
a bit crazy. Mcdebitt drove down the field up twenty
one to ten, converted two first downs, both nullified by penalty,
the second one for some reason and we're not sure why,
the Indians were giving the ball right at the spot
and would take over. They would go down the field
with several penalties on. Mcdebitt would score the touchdown and
then get the two point conversion rossed. With the touchdown,

it was twenty one eighteen mcdebitt heading to the fourth
quarter and then finally a long touchdown pass to Luke
put the Indians up twenty five to twenty one. Mcdebitt,
though with a clutch championship drive came down the field
and Sebastian Williams with a one hooked up. It was
twenty eight twenty five mcdebitt with four to eleven left

to play in the game. The Indians, though with a
clutch driver of their own, came down the field looked
like they might punch it in to take the lead.
Mcdebitt's defense stopped it.

Duffy with a big bat the ball down on third
down held him no field goals. Twenty eight twenty eight.
Crusaders would get the ball back, would have the ball,
they would drive down the field. A clutch pass to
Ish Palmer put mcdebit and field goal range and an
aiden grello if a walk off phield coal was time
expired to give Bishop mcdebitt the thirty one twenty eight victory.

And I've talked enough, Marty your thoughts on this one.

It's just an incredible, incredible game. I mean, the whole
second half became a yes, no, yes, no off and
on up and down, and McDavid stayed true. They got
some big defense, he plays some key stops. The big
as you said, the big pass to Ish Palmer that

got it down inside the ten yard line where it became.
We talked about twenty five yards maybe you know, at
the twenty five yard line would be close enough for
Aiden Gorilla, but he got it down where it was
just a little bit like an extra point and Aiden
just kicked it a mile and he kicked it true.

Yeah, great job. We have to give credit David Smith
with the snap and Tyler Ronhert with the hold and
Aiden clutch and again Sebastian Williams just cool as a
cucumber on that last drive, just unflappable. We've talked a
lot in recent weeks about him just getting better and
better as we see him right now getting interviewed on
field by the media at the forty five yard line

and that play design by coach Wector to get Ish
Palmer free, the fastest player on the field, no one's
around him. That's one heck of a play design. And
his speed did the rest when.

Coming into this. When you look at it, Peters Township
Nolan did DeLucia three year starter for them, and a
lot of times when you and you would point that
out and you'd say you got a three year starter
against the rookie, if you will, and his first year
at Bishop mcdbitt as a starting quarterback and absolutely not

taking second place to anybody.

No, And I also want to mention on the other
side of the ball. You know, RJ Duffy unfortunately got
called for that big fifteen yard penalty on the pass
interference that set up the the one that you know
set them up down there in the inside the ten.
And then on that third down play, what we talked about,
are they bringing the backers? Are they not, Marty, and

they all backed off. They sent RJ on a little
bit of a delay and he just got he couldn't
get there, so he got his arms up and batted down.
Obviously that was huge because you forced them to kick
the field goal instead of take the lead on you there.
Without that, this field goal is not possible.

lost to the team from Canada. I mean a lot
of the polls throughout the state, Harrisburg is ranked number
one a lot of the year, and Bishop mcdebitt, if
you watch mcdeviit play Harrisburg, mcdebit was every bit as

good as Harrisburg and the Crusaders in some of the polls,
not even ranked in the top twenty all year, right,
and yet here they are back in the state championship again.
And it was just to me it was a bit
of a joke to not rank Bishop mcdebit. And they
come out here and they show what they're made of
and so many things. I we hate the harp on it,

but I mean, how many penalties that mcdevibit have. Sixteen
penalties at least eighteen penalties eighteen penalties.

Eighteen penalties for one hundred and seventy four yards. I've
never seen that at any level, I mean really at
any level. And last I had Peters Township with four
for sixty And I will say, and those max Prep polls,
I don't even look at those. Those are like those
are some kind of algorithm computer thing. I will We'll
say to your point though, in five A, the people

that do the polls for each classification, mcdebit's never been
ranked all year until the playoffs. They weren't ranked higher
than fifth or sixth all year, which is crazy to say.
Even when we got into the playoffs, I think mcdebitt
was ranked fourth in the state the last few weeks.
And now you know, Pine Richland's gone, bye bye. Mcdebit
just beat Peter's Township and now in the state final

they're going to get Roman Catholic, who they beat obviously
last year in overtime. And Roman Catholic, you know, just
what we see on the surface, appears to have even
a better offense than last year. They won today forty
eight to twenty over Springfield, Delco. And I'm sure they're
going to come in as a favorite. But these kids
wearing the gold helmets would tell you they would not

have it any other way. They wouldn't have it any
other way.

And I can't say enough for Vision mcdebit about the
two clutch drives at the end, though you can own
twenty five to twenty one, things weren't looking great for
the Crusaders and they're able to put that drive together
pass from Sebastian Williams to John take quick. That's gonna
be one of those passes, Marty, that we'll remember, Like
we were talking about it earlier today. You know Marsilio

win that game up in I'll do boys, So this
will be one that we'll remember for a lot of years.
But I kind of think for me personally, all year,
I thought mcdebbitt would get back there and we would
take on Roumin Catholic again and that's the matchup we have, guys.

Just as everything was going on, after the handshaking, after
mcdebitt huddled up and coach Lector talked to them. It
was ironic to look down and mcdebitt not what you
would expect. Maybe at the end of this game, maybe
another mcdebitt, you know, swoops or along the way one
of the defensive players. Not that they all didn't play well,

they did, but see, you know, the junior quarterback being
interviewed down there by the media was pretty impressive. As
you keep talking about that pass to John Tey had
to go over a defender on that and threw it
absolutely perfect, Just a great throw this entire team. For
the defense to suck it up and not allow that

tie it up. The defense, you can't can't say enough
about how well the defense played well.

Really nice job by as soon as he caught the
ball defender flying at him, he slammed on the brakes,
let the defender fly by, and turned up field to

from the swoops and swoops tries to push forward, maybe
centering the ball a little bit for Bishop mcdebitt. Twenty

kicker that can make it. It's the blocking assignments, especially
on the edge, to make sure you at least get
a hand on that guy coming from the fore edge
that he doesn't get in with a chance to block it.

Art Selby, Rob mcglise, Marty Bowman and JC back in
the Fox Sports fourteen sixty studios. What a football game
we saw this afternoon and the Crusaders showed why they
are the defending state champs. Let me tell you, folks,
they showed some guts here this afternoon and they win
(28:40):
this game and walk off fashion thirty one twenty eight
on the Aidentrilla field goal as the clock expired. Just
trying to recap this game for you. Way back in
the first quarter, mcdebitt would score on a third and
twenty one fifty eight yard touchdown pass the Holton Junior
to put mcdebit up seven to nothing. That was a
score one Crusaders would score with eleven thirty six left
(29:03):
to play in the first half on an Ish Palmer
punt returned for a touchdown. It was a short punt,
Ish ran in. It was the heads up play fielded.
It just took it to the house with that speed.
Mcdebitt was up fourteen. Zip Mayellow would score on a
field goal from twenty eight yards out to make it
fourteen three.
Speaker 4 (29:21):
Mcdebitt.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
Crusaders would drive down the field again, throw an interception
this time though, and this time the Indians would drive
down the field. New Paver would score to make it
fourteen to ten mcdebit from five yards out. Crusaders the
answer back immediately on a Swoops forty two yard touchdown
run to put mcdebit up twenty one ten at the half.
We went to the third quarter and then things got
(29:44):
a bit crazy. Mcdebitt drove down the field up twenty
one to ten, converted two first downs, both nullified by penalty,
the second one for some reason and we're not sure why,
the Indians were giving the ball right at the spot
and would take over. They would go down the field
with several penalties on. Mcdebitt would score the touchdown and
then get the two point conversion rossed. With the touchdown,
(30:07):
it was twenty one eighteen mcdebitt heading to the fourth
quarter and then finally a long touchdown pass to Luke
put the Indians up twenty five to twenty one. Mcdebitt,
though with a clutch championship drive came down the field
and Sebastian Williams with a one hooked up. It was
twenty eight twenty five mcdebitt with four to eleven left
(30:27):
to play in the game. The Indians, though with a
clutch driver of their own, came down the field looked
like they might punch it in to take the lead.
Mcdebitt's defense stopped it.
Speaker 4 (30:36):
RJ.
Speaker 2 (30:36):
Duffy with a big bat the ball down on third
down held him no field goals. Twenty eight twenty eight.
Crusaders would get the ball back, would have the ball,
they would drive down the field. A clutch pass to
Ish Palmer put mcdebit and field goal range and an
aiden grello if a walk off phield coal was time
expired to give Bishop mcdebitt the thirty one twenty eight victory.

And I've talked enough, Marty your thoughts on this one.
Speaker 3 (31:02):
It's just an incredible, incredible game. I mean, the whole
second half became a yes, no, yes, no off and
on up and down, and McDavid stayed true. They got
some big defense, he plays some key stops. The big
as you said, the big pass to Ish Palmer that
(31:23):
got it down inside the ten yard line where it became.
We talked about twenty five yards maybe you know, at
the twenty five yard line would be close enough for
Aiden Gorilla, but he got it down where it was
just a little bit like an extra point and Aiden
just kicked it a mile and he kicked it true.
Speaker 5 (31:42):
Yeah, great job. We have to give credit David Smith
with the snap and Tyler Ronhert with the hold and
Aiden clutch and again Sebastian Williams just cool as a
cucumber on that last drive, just unflappable. We've talked a
lot in recent weeks about him just getting better and
better as we see him right now getting interviewed on
field by the media at the forty five yard line

and that play design by coach Wector to get Ish
Palmer free, the fastest player on the field, no one's
around him. That's one heck of a play design. And
his speed did the rest when.
Speaker 3 (32:17):
Coming into this. When you look at it, Peters Township
Nolan did DeLucia three year starter for them, and a
lot of times when you and you would point that
out and you'd say you got a three year starter
against the rookie, if you will, and his first year
at Bishop mcdbitt as a starting quarterback and absolutely not
(32:38):
taking second place to anybody.
Speaker 5 (32:42):
No, And I also want to mention on the other
side of the ball. You know, RJ Duffy unfortunately got
called for that big fifteen yard penalty on the pass
interference that set up the the one that you know
set them up down there in the inside the ten.
And then on that third down play, what we talked about,
are they bringing the backers? Are they not, Marty, and
(33:03):
they all backed off. They sent RJ on a little
bit of a delay and he just got he couldn't
get there, so he got his arms up and batted down.
Obviously that was huge because you forced them to kick
the field goal instead of take the lead on you there.
Without that, this field goal is not possible.

next Friday night.

Ye sebastian just playing great football down the stretch for
Bishop mcdebit and just said, Bishop mcdebit team got throughout
the year. They lost the two games early on they
lost to the team from Canada. I mean a lot
of the polls throughout the state, Harrisburg is ranked number
one a lot of the year, and Bishop mcdebitt, if
you watch mcdeviit play Harrisburg, mcdebit was every bit as
(34:15):
good as Harrisburg and the Crusaders in some of the polls,
not even ranked in the top twenty all year, right,
and yet here they are back in the state championship again.
And it was just to me it was a bit
of a joke to not rank Bishop mcdebit. And they
come out here and they show what they're made of
and so many things. I we hate the harp on it,
(34:35):
but I mean, how many penalties that mcdevibit have. Sixteen
penalties at least eighteen penalties eighteen penalties.
Speaker 5 (34:41):
Eighteen penalties for one hundred and seventy four yards. I've
never seen that at any level, I mean really at
any level. And last I had Peters Township with four
for sixty And I will say, and those max Prep polls,
I don't even look at those. Those are like those
are some kind of algorithm computer thing. I will We'll
say to your point though, in five A, the people
(35:03):
that do the polls for each classification, mcdebit's never been
ranked all year until the playoffs. They weren't ranked higher
than fifth or sixth all year, which is crazy to say.
Even when we got into the playoffs, I think mcdebitt
was ranked fourth in the state the last few weeks.
And now you know, Pine Richland's gone, bye bye. Mcdebit
just beat Peter's Township and now in the state final
(35:25):
they're going to get Roman Catholic, who they beat obviously
last year in overtime. And Roman Catholic, you know, just
what we see on the surface, appears to have even
a better offense than last year. They won today forty
eight to twenty over Springfield, Delco. And I'm sure they're
going to come in as a favorite. But these kids
wearing the gold helmets would tell you they would not
(35:46):
have it any other way. They wouldn't have it any
other way.
Speaker 2 (35:48):
And I can't say enough for Vision mcdebit about the
two clutch drives at the end, though you can own
twenty five to twenty one, things weren't looking great for
the Crusaders and they're able to put that drive together
pass from Sebastian Williams to John take quick. That's gonna
be one of those passes, Marty, that we'll remember, Like
we were talking about it earlier today. You know Marsilio
(36:09):
in the back of the ends of race Hall to
win that game up in I'll do boys, So this
will be one that we'll remember for a lot of years.
But I kind of think for me personally, all year,
I thought mcdebbitt would get back there and we would
take on Roumin Catholic again and that's the matchup we have, guys.
But Bishop mcdebitt wins here today twenty eight or thirty one,

twenty eight Aiden Grella with the walk off field, will Marty,
I'll give you your final thoughts.

Just as everything was going on, after the handshaking, after
mcdebitt huddled up and coach Lector talked to them. It
was ironic to look down and mcdebitt not what you
would expect. Maybe at the end of this game, maybe
another mcdebitt, you know, swoops or along the way one
of the defensive players. Not that they all didn't play well,
(36:58):
they did, but see, you know, the junior quarterback being
interviewed down there by the media was pretty impressive. As
you keep talking about that pass to John Tey had
to go over a defender on that and threw it
absolutely perfect, Just a great throw this entire team. For
the defense to suck it up and not allow that
(37:19):
touchdown at the end here forcing the field goal to
tie it up. The defense, you can't can't say enough
about how well the defense played well.
