Speaker 1 (00:00):
Then always says he's good at making up nicknames. I
think the mcgiver wons some of your best work.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Well, I appreciate your validation of the fact that I
came up with that grant. Once again, I know that
there are certain people who are not fans of it,
as though Ryan there was said.
Speaker 3 (00:19):
To me he said it was stupid.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
I think that's my favorite part about it though, is
that when you're filling in on KOA Sports and whenever
that defense comes up, I'm hitting that mcgiver theme song
just to get a little bit under Comrade Edward skin Well,
you know.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
You know, Dave acknowledged it because when he heard the music,
he automatic goes.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
Is that, like mcgiver, he knew it.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
But Ryan, that's his way of trying not to validate
it by saying it's stupid, but he can't really put
any context to its.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
Right. Yeah, it sounds about right.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
I have six six nine zero the Common Spirit Health
text line.
Speaker 4 (00:55):
We're gonna head out to.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
The KA Common Spirit Health hotline and bring on one
of our faith Ritch the Broncos number one fan at
least according to her Instagram and her injured finger. Remsed
Us of let's talk Broncos and believe in the Broncos podcast.
Speaker 4 (01:09):
Bre how are you?
Speaker 5 (01:11):
Oh my goodness, I'm giggling. I thought that was going
to stare off the area.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
You put it on the social media, it's going to
come onto the air.
Speaker 5 (01:21):
You know. That's what I really appreciate about you is
that you always find those little tidbits that you can
bring into the real world. And now everyone knows I am.
I almost cemented myself in almost a permanent state as
the Broncos number one fan, but thankfully I am healing
up and thank you for your concern. Also, Nick, just
a shout out to you. Don't let anyone go your sparkle.
You come up with some fantastic nicknames, and I love
(01:43):
how you've leaned into the mcgiver mantra and gimmick for
this Broncos defense. It's something I look forward to each week,
especially as Ryan Edwards tries to come in and swoop
in there and give you heck for it.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
Well, thank you for that, Brie.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
And Ryan knows that, just like I don't pay the
text Texas in his.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
Mind, I don't pay him into mind.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
Either, So yes, that is the perfect way to do
that to prevent people from trying to steal of your joy.
But one thing that no one will ever be but
steal the joy from is the Broncos record.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
And where they are right now.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
And what is it that you love when you watch
this team that's now fourteen and three. It got the
number one seed and he hadn't done that in some time.
What is it about this team that you enjoy watching?
Speaker 5 (02:32):
I think it has to be their uncanny ability to
find ways to win. We've seen weekend and week out
just a different way of getting the same results. And
I think we talk pretty much at length and that
nauseum about them finding ways to win, but it seems
to be in such different ways that to me spells
a lot of grittiness. It shows that in the face
(02:53):
of adversity, being down three or more scores, that they're
still finding a way to get back in to the mix.
And I think you find a lot of the grittiness
along the defense. It's not just the offense putting on
a display when they need to and being fourth quarter
comeback kings. It's the opportunity for the defense to shine.
And I think that we've gotten into a little bit
(03:15):
of a rut In talking about the defense slowing down.
What I love is that they maintain a consistency that
you can't really teach. It is a combination of young
players and a talented defensive coordinator who has been able
to fill the gaps. They continuously find a way to
(03:35):
rebalance themselves and they've earned that AFC number one seed,
which becomes a banner moment within the organization and it
shows that this team has re established themselves. Sean Payton
has done what he has set out to do, which
is recreate the culture and earn an identity. Because you
can label yourself as anything, you can galevant against labels.
(03:58):
That the narrative his shift on to you. But you
have to prove that at fourteen and three that you
belong here. You create this home field advantage, You earn
the opportunity to rest up and reinvigorate your fan base.
I was just looking at a post I posted two
(04:19):
years ago, three years ago when they were out at
this time, and it's fun to reflect back, not only
as a fan, but as someone who's been covering this
team now for I believe it's five years now. The
struggles are no longer oof. We were almost there. It's
a we are there moment. Now how do you maintain
that momentum? So every week as we watch this team,
I continue to find new things that I really cherish
(04:40):
about them. But truly, I think it's the resiliency that
they've built into each win that has earned them the
one seed that keeps you coming back for more.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
Yeah, and man, the times of talking about draft picks
this time of year have come to an end finally.
You know, I've been covering the Broncos now for seven
or eight years running the broadcast, and the month of
December was rough in years past because you're just like, gosh,
we're going to end up five and twelve or six
and eleven, whatever it may be, and hopefully we'll get
(05:10):
a decent draft pick and we'll find a way to
be better next year. And now we're setting in that
number one seed. Talking to Bree Mass from Less Talk
Broncos and Believe in the Broncos podcast, Brie, as we
sit here and enjoy what I've deemed the best weekend
of college and pro football of the year, and don't
have to worry about losing. Get to wait until the
divisional round with the Broncos. Are there any opponents you
(05:32):
would rather see in Denver for that divisional round as
opposed to others? We could possibly play the Bills, Texans, Chargers,
or Steelers.
Speaker 4 (05:40):
Who would you most like to play?
Speaker 5 (05:44):
Oh? It really comes into the mindset of waiting until
you know who the opposition is going to be, because
right now they're utilizing the bye week to get healthy.
They're trying to understand what have we done well? What
can we implement moving forward? And so when you're training
this predict a winner, you're starting to kind of lean
into what would be the worst case scenario, and I
(06:05):
guess what would be the dream scenario? And I was
leaning very much, so pretty hard into the fact that
I didn't want to do a best two out of
three against the Chargers, and I think I'm starting to
kind of slip away from that in a nightmare scenario.
I think it starts coming down to the opportunity that
the Broncos face later on someone like the Bills. Because
(06:30):
the Bills seem inevitable year and you're out, they play
spoiler to a ton of teams. You have a Josh
Allen who has to strap his team regardless of talent
on the offensive side of the ball to his back
and play Superman. And I think conversely, you see a
team with the Broncos who don't necessarily have to do
that with a Bonix, it becomes an antithesis of matchups.
(06:51):
But honestly, I think it's going to be a shocker
here the Chargers again, I think I'm starting to lean
away from that because ultimately this Broncos teams we're talking
about establishing identities. I think they've finally gotten underfoot of
being the little brother of the AFC West, and now
they're really trying to lean into a familiar divisional rival,
(07:13):
and it's preparing the team to go up against an
opponent to that strength. What I think I worry about
the most, though, happens to be probably the Steelers coming
in and with a aging Aaron Rodgers. I don't want
to discount the hefty defense that they have been putting
on display. It comes down to what you're going to
(07:34):
be seeing in the trenches and what you're going to
see as far as the long game goes. Playoff games
in general are very I want to say dirty, they're ugly.
They come down to a key insights that you're trying
not to beat yourselves. Lebroncos have done a tremendous job
in cleaning up a lot of the self inflicted wounds.
You don't have to worry about the mistakes you may make,
(07:56):
but when it comes down two deep playoff runs, you're
really trying to escape what you're doing the least best
I guess if you want to quantify it as such.
So at the end of the day, a lot of
the matchups are going to bring and breed on comfortability.
I still don't love the idea of facing the Chargers,
but at the end of the day, I think this
(08:16):
Broncos team has the magic formula. It'll come down to
a gritty battle of trying to get convince the Broncos
standem if it was a convincing win or not when
they ultimately come out victorious on the other side. So
I say bring it. But in general, I think there's
a couple of matchups down the road, and specifically, if
(08:37):
we look a little bit further into the ether, I
think a matchup against the Jaguars for the AFC Championship
is actually the thing that scares me the most because
you see a team you know you can match up
against them, and they absolutely ran through you the first time.
So ultimately, if the scariest matchup is the one that's
worrying you, it's probably the one that needs to happen.
(08:59):
That's how you actually the success later on in the season,
and that's how you make sure that anyone who's tried
to ask your season and your winning record and your
wins up to this point really gets to a deat
crow on the other side of that result.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
Well, when we look at this Broncos offense, we've seen
them kind of sputter at times this season. We saw
them great against the Dallas Cowboys. Also, one of the
best games that I say that the offense is put
together this season was the Grand the Green Bay Packers.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
But since then things are to taper off.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
What are your expectations or aspirations for this Broncos offense
as they try to move into a position where they
can now make some plays hopefully win the next round
of the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (09:46):
Sure, I think a lot of it comes down to
playoff pressure, because I think that's an absolute, real circumstance,
and I think what we've seen from bon Nicks is
his ability to lean into it. I think a lot
of the time time we try to come up with
a plan to disguise maybe some of the things that
(10:07):
Bonnicks doesn't do well, and what they've gotten away from
is really leaning into that for a young quarterback. I
don't think the danger is necessarily fear. I think it's
the overcorrection. I think trying to win too early. It
makes all of it feel a lot more heavier than
it may be. And so that playoff pressure I think
(10:28):
can be used as a jumping off point for this offense,
and it really starts with protection and planning. Defenses aren't
going to necessarily blitz more. They're going to be smarter
about it. I think they may show pressure and they
may bail there. They're forcing a quarterback to do everything
post snap. So I think Denver has to give go
(10:48):
all the answers before the ball is before the ball
is snapped. And I think a lot of that can
be emphasized by the run game. But we have gone
into a constant battle of how important the game really is.
Some games it's there, some games it isn't. And some
of them I think they're really championed by Bonnix himself,
and so heading into the playoffs and trying to make
(11:10):
a deep run. I think foundationally for Denver right now,
they don't need to just dominate on the ground. They
have to be smart about it and it has to
be the stabilizer for everything they want to see in January,
and a lot of that comes off of Bonix's confidence
and controlling the tempo and then controlling what I would
think is emotional swings. You can't get over confident, you
(11:32):
can't force the outcomes, and I think this team coming
out of a buy and a break, it'll be about intentionality,
and that's my hope from this team. I don't think
it has to be these convincing two or three score
leads that they come away with. I think it has
to be doing all the things that you can to
control as much of the tempo and the momentum of
(11:54):
the game that resists the urge to try to play
ahead and guarantee a win at the end of the day.
I think it becomes a management of the game, whether
it's time, whether it's the tempo, and it's about trying
to stress and stretch the verticality of the field. So
how are they making sure that they're sequencing does all
(12:16):
of those critical things. So keep bow Nicks on schedule,
keep him as linear and level as possible, and that
doesn't mean that he can't lean into the stressors of
the pressure that is upon him. At the end of
the day, that kind of pressure really brings out the
tendencies of what we're trying to see out of bon
Nicks in general, and that is revealing who he is
(12:39):
as a quarterback and as he matures in this league.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
Well, Bring, my hope for you is that your finger
heels up nicely and you're still the Broncos number one fan.
Speaker 4 (12:47):
After that, we appreciate your time.
Speaker 5 (12:49):
As always appreciate you guys so much. Have a great
evening you too.
Speaker 1 (12:53):
Bring macis Let's talk Broncos and Believe. In the Broncos podcast,
he was talking about our hopes for bon Nicks and
the playoffs. Hayton Manning addressed the Broncos winning the AFC
West and that number one seed, and also talked a
little bit about the criticism of bon Nicks and why
he's a fan of the young quarterback look.
Speaker 6 (13:10):
Bo Knicks has been heavily scrutinized for a second year
quarterback that just led his team to their first division
since twenty fifteen. Look, the one seed that doesn't excite
me as much as winning that division that has been
the Chiefs have been the bully in that division.
Speaker 3 (13:33):
Right. I mean, if there's not a Johnny from.
Speaker 6 (13:35):
Karate Kids analogy, I don't know what is right. They've
been the bully, and until somebody beats the bully, they're.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
The best team in the division. Right.
Speaker 6 (13:45):
So the Broncos went out and did it this year
and they took care of business in that division. So
that's what excites me about what the team has done,
and Bo has done his part. Look, it's been good
complimentary football. The defense has really good. Bow knows that
he makes a lot of plays with his legs, which
(14:05):
don't necessarily show up in the statistics because the quarterbacks
passing statistics probably.
Speaker 3 (14:12):
Show up more.
Speaker 6 (14:12):
And he's had some days where hasn't been for a
lot of yards, but he's run for some critical third downs.
He's kept the offense on the field, he's kept drives
a lot, he hasn't turned it over. So I'm a
bow fan what he's done this early in his career.
I think he just says a lot about him. The
team believes in him, and look, he's very honest with himself.
(14:36):
You don't hear him making any excuses, and I know
he loves He loves to go out there and go
four touchdowns. He completed seventy five percent every single game.
I don't know if that's always going to be possible,
but I think he's been a solid winning quarterback this year.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
I'll say that Hayton Manning on bow knicks and what
he likes about him and some of the criticism of
the young quarterback, he can't forget he's only in a
second year. I love the point Peyton brought up about
Bo using his legs. I think that's going to be
vital in this playoff run if the Broncos are hoping
to reach the Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (15:08):
Yeah, I always thought it was really important for Bo
because that's kind of where the game is being played
right now.
Speaker 3 (15:14):
Grant, you need to have a mobile quarterback.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
That can really put a lot of pressure on the
defense because when your quarterback starts to escape the pocket
and make plays with his feet one, he's extending the plays.
So if you do have a guy covered, you're not
gonna have him covered anymore. Because now that quarterback is
going to find that open guy. Because I don't know
whatever reason it is, you try to drill it in
your players.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
You're covering a guy. The moment the player.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
The quarterback breaks the pocket, defenders take their eyes off
the receiver.
Speaker 4 (15:43):
And go right out to the quack h They go.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
Right to the cort It's like, you're not covering him.
He's like ten.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
Yards away from you. Why are you looking at him?
And as soon as you look at him and go
back to your guy, your guy now went vertical. Now
they converted the third down because guess what, he threw
it to your And when we look at the Chargers game,
it will even go back to the week before that
with the Cass City game. The Broncos offense has had
(16:09):
his issues and his bowl ability to escape the pocket.
Eight rushes for forty nine yards to lead the team,
and eight of.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
Those rushes that he rushed for they were all passing place.
What does that tell you?
Speaker 4 (16:23):
And get that backyard ball gone.
Speaker 3 (16:26):
I'm just saying.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
We're looking ahead to the NFL six pack when we
return on Broncos Country at night on KOA five six
six nine zero. The Common Spirit health text line from
the six TOZH five. So tired of talking heads talking
about how we should be afraid of this team and
afraid of that team, and afraid of this team. We
are fourteen and three and we're home. Maybe they should
(16:48):
be scared of us better yet, let's just play the
game and may the best team win. I think that
is probably my in reference to my question Debrie Masis
about who she'd rather see in the first round. I
don't think are scared of any team. With the Denver
Broncos like a text set fourteen to three, well deserved
of the number one seed. But there are certainly matchups
that you'd rather see in that divisional round.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
I think more or less that's kind of the idea,
like you respect everyone, you feel no one, But there
are certain matchups that you can look at teams and
the remaining teams in AFC West, and not just AFC West,
but just AFC as a whole, and say, well, that's
not a great matchup for this particular reason.
Speaker 3 (17:29):
And I don't think by pointing that out that.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
Anyone you know would be perceived there should be perceived
as being negative. But because every this is something that
every team that's still in the tournament.
Speaker 3 (17:41):
They're thinking about looking for the best matchup.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
We're not scared of anyone in Broncos country. No, we'll
rate a roll next week because we get that first
round by before we get to the NFL six pack.
Something I like to do when I get to fill
in with you, Nick. Best thing I heard this week?
Did you hear Snoop Dogg announcing Steve Kerr's ejection during
the Golden State Warriors and Clippers game the other night?
Speaker 2 (18:05):
No?
Speaker 4 (18:05):
I didn't hear, though, Gosh, this is gold here, it
is for you.
Speaker 5 (18:08):
Vacuum up, Vacuum up, GP, vacuum up.
Speaker 3 (18:10):
Steve Brader's.
Speaker 2 (18:13):
Steve Bacon Inglewood right now, ingle Wood, getty steam you
a Anglewood's team.
Speaker 5 (18:20):
The Arizona Wild captain came.
Speaker 4 (18:21):
Out and look at him.
Speaker 1 (18:27):
So Snoop Dogg was sitting in with the Clippers broadcast team,
I believe, and that's when Steve Kerr lost his cool
and uh got ejected.
Speaker 4 (18:35):
I love hearing the Snoop Dogg on the call of things.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
Did you remember when him and Kevin Hart did the
Olympics a couple of years ago.
Speaker 3 (18:41):
Yeah, that's.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
That's always funny because you get the raw uncut when
that happened, Eagle.
Speaker 4 (18:52):
Would he let that Arizona wild Cat out of them?
Speaker 3 (18:55):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (18:55):
I love that.
Speaker 1 (18:59):
But let's get to the NFL six Pack's.
Speaker 4 (19:01):
Time for the NFL six Pack. I'm gonna drink a
lot of beer back insight and insight information you can't
find anywhere else. No SI the top six NFL headlines.
Speaker 1 (19:13):
What this is from Pro Football Talk? It's their or
their regular season awards headlined by Drake may as the MVP.
Let's go through this list and see if you agree
or you have a different player.
Speaker 4 (19:29):
For each award.
Speaker 1 (19:30):
Offensive Rookie of the Year Panthers wide receiver Ted McMillan, Yes, yeah,
who else should be in the running the Rookie of
the Year?
Speaker 4 (19:40):
Yeah, Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Speaker 3 (19:44):
No.
Speaker 4 (19:44):
RJ.
Speaker 2 (19:44):
Harvey, Well, he should be in the running because with
his touchdowns rushing and touchdown receiving. But Ted has done
a great job this year, very you know, impress a
lot of people and lived up to that draft status
for sure.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
Remember when people during the draft process were talking all
this smack about him about how he doesn't watch.
Speaker 4 (20:05):
Film, and it was like a quote from four years ago.
Now he's going to be the Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Probably good for him.
Speaker 3 (20:11):
They're good for him for sure.
Speaker 1 (20:13):
Defensive Rookie of the Year Browns linebacker Carson Schwesssinger, what
do you think about that pick?
Speaker 3 (20:18):
Yeah, I would say, I mean that kid played his.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
His hair off, man. He was a ball so why not.
I know he plays for Cleveland, but.
Speaker 4 (20:29):
I still give him some respect.
Speaker 5 (20:31):
Man.
Speaker 1 (20:31):
There was a couple of weeks ago when he was
in a game and he looked like he had completely
pulled his hamstring and he kept battling through it, Like
that's what That's the mentality you want from your middle linebacker.
Also in the running I think for me Falcons linebacker
James Pierce Junior, he's been a stud on that defense
this year.
Speaker 3 (20:49):
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, That's the one thing about.
Speaker 2 (20:51):
Some of these awards of where he's postseason accolades. Everyone
has played well, you can't give it to every single person,
but just to know that you were in the running
and you were in that field, that says a lot.
Speaker 4 (21:02):
Comeback.
Speaker 1 (21:03):
Player of the Year forty nine Ers running back Christian McCaffrey.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
Yeah, I would.
Speaker 2 (21:07):
Definitely say because it was we didn't know exactly if
Christian was gonna come back this year and be as productive,
and I would have to say this is one of
more of his healthier seasons because he's been really durable
and they still give him the ball.
Speaker 1 (21:21):
Yeah, and he's such a threat out of the backfield
as a pass catcher too.
Speaker 4 (21:24):
I agree.
Speaker 1 (21:25):
I think he's the winner of that award. Offensive Player
of the Year. Falcons running back Bijon Robinson absolute freaking lutely.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
I mean when you see this guy boxed in by
three or four defenders and he still finds a way
to kind of get around him. And I'm not a drinker,
but if I was, I would say that Bijon was
like a smooth kognak Neat.
Speaker 3 (21:51):
There you go, we all doing a six pack.
Speaker 1 (21:55):
Also in consideration, JSN with the Seahawks a curt league
high one thousand, seven hundred ninety three yards and carried
my Fantasy football team all season long Defensive Player of
the Year. I think it's no question Miles Garrett breaking
the sack record.
Speaker 2 (22:07):
Oh absolutely, for Miles to do that and do it
in the Cleveland uniform, it is important because what else
did the Cleveland Browns have to I guess be excited
about nothing, nothing else.
Speaker 4 (22:21):
Assistant Coach of the Year Broncos DC Vance.
Speaker 3 (22:24):
Joseph Assistant Coach of the Year. You got doing right?
Speaker 4 (22:28):
Not Josh McDaniels and what New England. No, No, I'm
just kidding, No.
Speaker 3 (22:32):
No, not at all.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
Mean for what Vance's defense has done in a two
years sample size, I think it's it's been extraordinary. It's
one of the reasons that Vance has now propelled himself
back into the national conversation as far as jobs are concerned.
Speaker 1 (22:48):
So absolutely Head Coach of the Year Duell Liam Cohen.
Speaker 2 (22:55):
Yeah, for a guy who was said to be in
the small market, he's done a lot for or Jacksonville
to really make them a no name in the NFL.
And just think about it. Like I said earlier in
the program, when we talk about Trevor Lawrence a year ago,
there were a lot of complaints about Trevor Lawrence and
he has kind of reduced his number of turnovers and
(23:16):
the kid has turned into a monster of players from
a quarterback standpoint.
Speaker 1 (23:20):
Yes, he certainly has MVP. They've got Drake may, I've
got Matthew Stafford.
Speaker 4 (23:25):
Who are you going with?
Speaker 2 (23:26):
See, that's a tough one. Because I love veteran players. Man,
I'm gonna go with Stafford. Stafford started season with a
back injury, and for him to still be out there
slinging it, moving around in the pocket, that's great.
Speaker 3 (23:42):
But if you have to get one A one B,
obviously Drake May will be one B. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
Forty six touchdown passes for Matt Stafford. I know he's
got some weapons, but man, give it to Stafford, give
him some love.
Speaker 3 (23:53):
Well, let's not say give it to him, just say
he earned it.
Speaker 4 (23:56):
He earned he earned it.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
Two teaking of those Patriots, they may be without Booty
for the wild card weekend. How big of a loss
is this for the Patriots going up against the Chargers.
If it's not Booty, Booty Booty out there rocking everywhere, well,
it would.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
Definitely hurt Drake May just a little, but not that
much because you know still have Stefan Diggs, they still
have their tight ends, and they have two explosive guys
at the running back position. It helps me you know
in advance that the players are going to be out,
so you can prepare for him, and I trust Josh
mcdames to make their appropriate adjustments and help Drake may out, who.
Speaker 4 (24:36):
Do you like in that game?
Speaker 1 (24:37):
I know we'll do our official picks tomorrow, but right now,
which way are you leaning Chargers or Patriots?
Speaker 3 (24:42):
You know what I would have to say, I'm leaning
more towards the Pats.
Speaker 1 (24:46):
I am too pat I think this is going to
be a real test for them, but I think they
passed that to Yes three. We hit on this a
little bit earlier, but the Ravens have completed an interview
with Broncos quarterback coach pass game coordinated Davis Webb, web
only thirty years old, also expected to interview with the Raiders.
(25:07):
The Ravens also interviewed Broncos DC Vance Joseph As we
mentioned earlier, they have scheduled interviews with Vikings defensive coordinator
Brian Flores, former Commander's offensive coordinator Cliff Kingsberry, Seahawks OC
Clint Kubiak, chiefs OC Matt Naggie, and.
Speaker 4 (25:22):
Dolphins d C Anthony Weaver.
Speaker 1 (25:24):
Which of these coaches do you think is the best
fit for the Baltimore Ravens moving on from Harball?
Speaker 3 (25:30):
I would say Clint Kubiak.
Speaker 2 (25:32):
The reason I would say that because the Baltimore Ravens
organization is quite familiar with the work of his dad,
and his dad did a decent job when he was
there with the organization and ideas, how do you keep
the ground game going and also feed and feature a
guy like Lamar Jackson and don't wace the years Clint
Kolbiak has show him that he could do it.
Speaker 3 (25:53):
If he could do it with Kirk Cousins, he could
definitely do it with Lamar.
Speaker 4 (25:57):
Is that a little shot at Kirk there?
Speaker 3 (25:59):
Yeah, you like that. I'm I'm just speaking facts for.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
The Ravens not the only team interested in interviewing Cliff Kingsbury.
The Titans also want to interview him for the head
coaching position. Were you surprised by the mutual parting of
ways for Cliff Kingsbury and the Commanders when he was
the offensive coordinator there just a year removed from him
being the high and mighty leader of that Commander's offense,
(26:27):
developing Jayden Daniels and leading them to an NFC Championship
Game appearance.
Speaker 4 (26:31):
And do you think he gets a head coaching gig
in this cycle.
Speaker 3 (26:36):
Yeah, I think it's a strong possibility that he does.
Speaker 2 (26:38):
And I was a little surprised at the whole situation,
especially after the year before and Jane Dames rookie year
where you know, the offense was just clicking and Jane
Dames was just so extraordinary, and I know people were
down on you know, Jayden's saying, Okay, well he fell off.
Speaker 3 (26:55):
When you have such an.
Speaker 2 (26:56):
Extraordinary year any year of your career, chances are going
to duplicate that same production in the following year. So
it's unfortunate that things change. But when a team doesn't
play well, the idea is that within the organization, we
have to make some changes, and sometimes those changes lead
to some coaches being fired.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
Yeah, and if Cliff Kingsbury wants to be a head
coach again in this league, I think he will be,
but maybe he'll be in OC again somewhere. First, I
think Mike McDaniel is going to be an offensive coordinator
somewhere this year. Absolutely, and he's gonna I mean, imagine
if Robert Salig is a head coaching gay again and
Mike McDaniel the OC, Like, what a duo that's.
Speaker 2 (27:36):
Gonna be well once again. It's something that's always out there.
But the crazy part about it is, if you're Kyle Shanahan,
You're like, man, I just went through generations of defensive coordinators.
Speaker 3 (27:47):
Right now you come back. We are in the mix again,
and now you lead. Now I gotta go find another guy.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
But it's like what you said when we were talking
about the Broncos coaches getting those opportunities for head coach openings.
Speaker 4 (27:58):
It just means you're doing you're doing things right, You're
winning games. People want what you have.
Speaker 3 (28:03):
That's exactly what happens five, where.
Speaker 1 (28:07):
She Rich's chiefs receiver is facing another NFL investigation and
possibly another suspension.
Speaker 4 (28:14):
The recent social media.
Speaker 1 (28:15):
Domestic violence allegations against Rice, with which the chiefs acknowledged yesterday,
have sparked an inquiry by the NFL. We have been
in contact with the club about the matter, which will
be reviewed under the league's personal conduct policy. Rice, of course,
served a six game suspension to begin this season following
a March twenty twenty four street racing incident that calls
(28:37):
multiple injuries that the league determines that he committed domestic violence.
Rice faces enhanced penalties as a repeat offender. The key
question will be whether the victim chooses to cooperate with
the NFL. There's no apparent criminal complaint or lawsuit. The
league has no independent subpoena power. The alleged victim refuses
(28:57):
to talk to league investigators, the process will be short circuited.
What do you make of this story with Rashi Rice
once again finding himself in hot water.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
It's a very interesting story and a lot of players.
Now I'm gonna let me take the bet, not a
lot of players. Some players find themselves in these particular situations.
And if I was listening to you correctly, this report
came out, but the young lady said that she's not
cooperating with investigators. Yeah, well guess what, However, this story
came out, you're cooperating with investigators.
Speaker 1 (29:28):
Yeah, we'll have to get Ben's details on what exactly
is involved in this domestic violence assault or whatever it
may be tomorrow when he's back on the show.
Speaker 3 (29:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
You have to be really careful, and I want to
be careful myself with these because is it domestic dispute
or is it just kind of a disagreement between two
individuals ex lovers or current lovers.
Speaker 3 (29:50):
You got to be really careful.
Speaker 2 (29:51):
So I'm willing to wait and see til I get
all the details before making my final push sick.
Speaker 1 (29:58):
Last one for you a player that you were against
in your career. Former NFL tight end Jason Witten's coaching
career is shifting to the next level. For multiple reports,
Witten is going to become the tight ends coach at Oklahoma.
Speaker 4 (30:12):
Wittan has coached Liberty.
Speaker 1 (30:13):
Christian High School in Texas for five years. Some believe
he's testing to be the coach of the Dallas Cowboys
one of these days. Till now, Kamen's getting coaching experience
at the college level. Wentton played college football at Tennessee
from two thousand to two thousand and two. Cowboys made
him a third round pick in two thousand and three,
and he spent fifteen years in Dallas, and after he retired,
(30:34):
a one year stint on Monday Night Football before returning
to the Cowboys in twenty nineteen. Finished his career with
the Raiders in twenty twenty. I forgot about that. An
eleven time Pro Bowler and a two time first team
All Pro, Witten as a finalist for the next Pro
Football Hall of Fame class in his first year of eligibility.
What do you make of Jason Witten being the head
or the sorry of the tight ends coach at Oklahoma.
Speaker 2 (30:58):
I'll say good for him. There are a lot of
former players who want to pour into a young man
and give back up to the game. So I mean
he coached high school football, obviously, he still loved the game,
and the fact that he's just getting this opportunity is
definitely a blessing. So I played against Jason winning a
(31:18):
handful of times in my career, and I just want
to see him and other players do well. So congratulations
to him.
Speaker 1 (31:24):
And OU do you think he's a first ballot Hall
of Famer?
Speaker 4 (31:30):
No, no, he's not, but definitely a Hall of Famer.
Speaker 2 (31:34):
Oh, definitely a Hall of Famer. I mean he put
up numbers for sure. And when you think about some
of the other Titans that are out there and how
well that they've played, could he stack up statistically Maybe,
But there's some other guys like Tony Gonzalez who was
just kind of a monster at the position.
Speaker 4 (31:50):
Yeah, and then you've got Gronk.
Speaker 1 (31:52):
I mean it's tough right now, Elsey in a couple
of years, if this is it for him, it's hard
out here for a pim tight end position in the NFL.
In well, Nick that does it for us. Appreciate you
as always. Man absolutely man. Enjoy Divide Home Broncos Country.
Speaker 4 (32:08):
Tonight on k o A.
Speaker 5 (32:09):
You don't let anyone throw your sparkles.
Speaker 3 (32:11):
What did the five fingers say to the face
