Speaker 1 (00:00):
Five, six, six nine zeros text line and text lies
popping off with dog stories. Eight two Weight says he's
seen a cane corso walk down a deer. That's a
big dog. That's a big damn dog.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Yeah, well, you know what, that's the only way that
you could describe that too. That's it.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
I promise you guys were going to break something. As
I looked at the eight twenty two on Buffalo, something
I noticed. Every time they got the nickel lined up
to the boundary, it's man or Blitz. Anytime they got
the nickel to the the field side, it's his own.
Go back and go back and double check me on it.
Go back and watch one hundred percent. With that, we'll
go out to the kay comsper the hotlight. I don't

(00:36):
bring on our guy, Cody Rourke. I assume he's alive.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
I don't know. I read the stories of his demise
that may have been pretty sure. Cody. How you doing
this evening?

Speaker 3 (00:43):
Well, you know, I'm back from the dead, they say,
I rose up like the Undertaker. I'm good. Gent. How
are you guys doing today?

Speaker 2 (00:50):
Oh great?

Speaker 1 (00:50):
Any time we had the chance to eat Lazarus Rouric
on here we have to take it, you know. I
first of all, I want to talk about that article
a little bit. What was it like when you first
found out that there was some ai I slop clickbait
article pretending that you had a died and b you
left behind a child you don't have.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
Yeah, it was an interesting morning.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
You know.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
I was having coffee, you know, I just made coffee
my fancy little machine that I have at home, and
I sitting down on the couch of my wife when
I got a text message from Doug Ottawa, who obviously
worked for our magazine, My High Sports. And I was
sitting there and you know, you look at preview like
you didn't open text and said the first thing I
saw was hey, are you okay? And I was like,

(01:30):
what does this mean? I saw a picture and I
opened it and then I saw that. So for me,
I look at all that and it's just like, wow,
that's that's a little crazy. There was one real picture
and he was like the background picture, but then the
picture of me holding the kid is not even a
real picture.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
That was that was just weird.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
That was weird, and it's just like in my head,
I was like, why would someone do this?

Speaker 2 (01:50):
That's just that's weird.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
But I'm obviously not the only one that has happened
to have been a handful of people, but uh, yeah,
that was really weird. There were a couple of people,
a former you know kid that I coached, you know,
high school football, he saw it and he didn't he
couldn't get ahold of me. So that was that was
a weird thing. And I think that was probably more
so the negative side of it than anything.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
For me.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
I shrugged off, like for people who don't know, they
don't know, Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
I said, you know, I saw stories about you know,
dumb stuff over the summer, comments that the Walton Penners
or Sean Payton hadn't actually made. You know, you had
the stories about Steve Atwater joining the coaching staff that
weren't true. And then they started to get weird's like
there's the one about you, the one that Dave Logan
with the vocals failing and all that kind of stuff,
and yeah, I just started to get worse and worse.
Facebook is utterly worthless at this point. I just it was, yeah, uh,

(02:40):
let's pivot. Let's pivot to this weekend.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
Man.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
We got some buffalo Bills. I just dropped a little
little nugget.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
I looked at the eight twenty two and saw anything
you see about this team.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
That you think is exploitable for these Denver Broncos.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
Yeah, I think it's trying to catch him in maybe
some of those situations. Right you mentioned the nickel to
the boundary side, and you know whether it's blitz, whether
they're either they're manned up here. You have to find
a way. If you get man you have to find
a way to get those man beaters going up. Talk
to a handful of Broncos receivers this year, because everyone's
asking then they're like, how come Denver isn't going deep?
How come they're not throwing deep to Troy or to Marvin.
It's like, well they can't. Like they're they're trying, they're

(03:12):
running the routes, but defenses that are playing deeper than
the deepest man they're playing. They're seeing a lot of
quarters coverage, they're seeing a lot of people inverted, they're
seeing cover six. It's just they're taking away the deep stuff,
funneling everything inside, and we're forcing Denver to be smart.
And that's one thing I think that we have seen
so if you can touch them on a couple of
man looks and capitalize on it, that could be the

(03:33):
difference in this game here. You got to be able
to do that. And so far this year, defenses haven't
really shied away from just playing zone against Denver, and
that's there's gonna have to be something where I think
we're running the football helped, you know, open that up
a little bit, and we'll see if they can do
that this weekend.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
You know why, Cody.

Speaker 4 (03:49):
Last year when these two teams play, it was kind
of the Broncos first time.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
In the postseason.

Speaker 4 (03:54):
It was year one for a Bonex and I remember
that first play either Gate supposed to play Detroy Franklin
probably one of the more talked about plays because they
showed the Bills, Hey, shots fire, We're really ready to
take shots down the field. Now, this has been built
as somewhat of a revenge game. Do you look at

(04:15):
this game as being a revenge game or do you
look at it, I don't know, like just maybe another
ordinary game.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
Just who happens is against Josh Allen.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
Yeah, I think a little bit of both. I think
it depends on what players you ask, Right, I've talked
to a handful of players in locker room this week,
and you know, for some of them just even talk
to them throughout the regular season. One thing that they
said in terms of their motivation, like, you know, we
got that we had a nascy taser melt from the
Buffalo game and we haven't forgotten about that. You know,
they didn't feel like they played their best second half,

(04:44):
that it really got away from them, and they felt
like they had opportunity they just couldn't capitalize on. You know,
Donathan Cooper this week, I thought he had the best answer.
You know, he was asked, you know, how how long
did that lost sit with you? And they said, how
long did that lost suit with me? He said, it
still sits with me. So yeah, we know how competitive
a fiery coup is. So I think it just depends
on who you asked. You know, you talked to Sean Payton,

(05:06):
you know, hey, this is another game. Yeah, we played
them last year, but our team's different, their team's different.
You know, you have some components that are still the same,
but things evolve here in the NFL. So I do
think there's another game here, and I think the storylines
for both teams are a little bit different in this
situation coming up. Obviously, still a lot of pressure on Buffalo,
and I think Buffalo is a higher seat at the time.

(05:28):
They were the two seed. Last year, Denver is the
one seed out facing them as the sixth season. So
it's just those things right there. You know, Buffalo's banged Denver,
they're healthy. You know it's they can Denver. Now translate
that last year, right you couldn't win one score games,
and you know they couldn't beat the good teams. Well,
this year they won the one score games.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
Can they beat the good teams?

Speaker 3 (05:46):
This is this is the test year.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
Cody Rourke from my High Sports.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
This game, you know, everybody's focused on the quarterbacks, but
this game figures largely to be a matchup of who
can run the ball effectively. The Buffalo Bills number one
against the pass, year twenty eighth against the run. However,
we certainly saw Jacksonville being effective running at the defensive ends.
You look at the Broncos side of things, you know
the most the team that has the most drop backs
in the league, but haven't had a consistent run game,

(06:12):
especially since JK went down, and that figures to be
the way to attack here. On the other side of things,
Buffalo Bills their wide receiver room is desperately short on
Bondy's they figure to be in twelve and probably running
the ball quite a bit. Is the running game the
secret star and who's going to be more effective.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
And able to do that?

Speaker 3 (06:29):
Well, I think if you look it on paper, everyone
would probably take Buffalo right because of James Cook, who
obviously was a league leader this year, and Snards he's
so explosive. I talked to a couple of Broncos defenders
this week and one thing they say. A couple of
us said, hey, you know he might be the best
back and most complete back we faced this year, which
I'm like, oh, that's hype. Pompound's considering your face, Sat one,

(06:50):
you know, back in Week five. But I mean, this
is a guy who if he gets up the sideline,
he's got the speed where you're just not sure if
you can catch him. Look, and this is the second
magic Dever's had in him in the last what three years,
so to speak. Remember that Monday night game he almost
ran for two hundred yards himself against Denver in that
Monday night thrilling win and Denver had there when Russ
was the quarterback. But you know, in the playoffs they

(07:12):
did a really good job, I think in the first
half of limiting him. But then in the second half,
you know, he made a couple of big plays, but
it was really Ty Johnson that kind of hurt the
Broncos in that game last year. I know he's his
status is up in the air for Saturday's games. So
I do think that on paper, everyone say, hey, the
smart play would be to take Buffalo in that situation.
But maybe, just maybe the Broncos run game gets going

(07:34):
here in the playoffs, right, what better time to now.
We've been asking for it consistently, it's been inconsistent this year.
Sean said today, you know, he's got a sheet that
reminds him to run it and not getting to a
point where you let the defense dictate what you do,
because that's exactly what the Buffalo Bills want to do.
They want to stop the run. They want to force
you to throw the ball, and that's not a shot,
that's not disrespect for the ball nicks, but they feel like, hey,

(07:55):
we feel like we can hold up on the back
end in terms of coverage. We feel like we can
make plays on the foot because when you are playing
zone defense, you're dropping six seven guys back against maybe
you know, for Denver, when they're in twelve or thirteen percent,
they're running three man route concepts. Sometimes you know the
max will probably get from them in four with the
checkdown options. So you know you're taking those numbers eighty day,
six seven guys against four to three. Uh. And that's

(08:17):
where you just have to be smart.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
And that's where the run.

Speaker 3 (08:19):
Game has to get going here for Denver and gentlemen,
I think I think Jalil McLoughlin is the key to
getting in going a little bit early.

Speaker 4 (08:27):
Interesting, uh, Jelim McLoughlin being that that particular guy. And
here's what I'm saying, Cody, that raised what that was
then for raise a lot of questions. Then if Dali
ends up being the spark in the game on Saturday,
what do you ask the question? Well, why was he
mean playing more this season? Would that be a fair

(08:48):
question to ask?

Speaker 3 (08:49):
Yeah, No, I think so. And look, I think they
brought in JK JK. I mean JK was everything that
they had hoped for, right, you know, in terms of
running the football, he brought more consistency the room than
anything that they've had really since Philip Lindsay and that
that was a while ago there, right, I mean, he
was on pace for it. I mean, he might have
ran for fifteen hundred yards this year. If he did
get hurt in Week ten, that might have been a

(09:10):
very real possibility for JK. We'll never know, but you know,
now you thrust r J. Harvey into the lineup, you know,
as he's still learning throughout his rookie year and he's
still trying to pick up every everything that he can
along the way, he's had to grow up a little
bit quicker, and you know, he's been able to thrive
in terms of the overall all purpose yards and touchdowns
he's been able to contribute, but in terms of just
consistency at times. You know, the idea is that hate

(09:33):
when RJ's in the game, they're trying to toss it
to the outside, they're running a stretch play, and defenses
are accounting for that, right where I think he just
kind of get a little bit better, more consistent and
hitting the inside gaps and just trying to get north
south fall forward. That's what Julia McLaughlin does a really
good job of right now, and I think maybe RJ.
I think RJ is you know, now in a position
where he might not be as banged up coming into

(09:55):
this game as he was out saying Week eighteen was
the week seventeen. I think that we're going to see,
you know, maybe in Nemphsis with him rely, But I
think Juliel can be the spark plug here for Denver offensively.
But you know, like I said, Sean has historically said,
you can only you know, you have three guys active,
normally you really only see two of them. So it
was RJ and it was JK primarily early on.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
Yeah, I mean we're talking with Coddy Rourke from a
sports here, Cuddy. I you know, I've been banging the
table for that. You can watch the tape and see
clear as day that Jaliel has a better feel for
running the ball as a running back.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
Now.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
It doesn't take with ma RJ as a spectacular pass
catcher or anything else, but Julia just looks more natural
running the ball. He's the NCAA's all time leading rusher.
You know, RJ has only been a running back for
what three four years after converting quarterback.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
I get it.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
But at the same time, is this really the time
to've rolled the dice on fifteen carries with RJ running
to the back of the offensive line when you got
Jaliel averaging six to carry, Yeah, you got.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
I mean you gotta find balance. And look, I would
even say there's been a lack of rhythm right from
a drive to drive standpoint. You know, what what did
Jacksonville do last week against Did you notice it? Right?
Travis atn was their primary guy, but then they brought
in the rookie Toutan and what did he do on
one drive? He had three straight carries a ten plus
yards on one drive specifically that jackson Will ended up
scoring on right. And we know Buffalo they're susceptible to

(11:09):
give enough plays in the run game.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
They do a really good job of.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
Compressing the past. But you know, this is where you
have to try to get the run game going here
with these guys. And I think if you're running a
guy who lil, I mean, I think, what do you
have five carries forty something yards in week eighteen? He
didn't see many touches after that, you know, And that's
where things have to get better in terms of shafe
Juli's got the high hand right at first series. You know,

(11:32):
I understand you got a rookiet, different personnel in and
a lot of times you're doing that based on what
personnel is the defense bringing in right down to down situationally, Okay, hey,
we want to make sure we don't put too much
mileage on these guys because we need them. When how
it's the playoffs now at this point, there shouldn't be
any restrictions. It's it's do or die, it's win or
go home, and I think he has to play with
that sensor urgency.

Speaker 4 (11:51):
All right, Cody Man, enough of slipping through the weeds
and going over to BS who is game on Saturday?

Speaker 2 (12:00):
Transparency?

Speaker 3 (12:01):
Let us have it, hey, full transparency. I really do. Look,
and this isn't just because I covered the team. I
think Denver's got a real chance to win here. I
think this is a different team than what we saw
last year. And I know that there weren't a lot
of regular season performances that inspired confidence that, hey, Denver
maybe can go on a deep run here. But you
don't win eleven straight games by fluke. You know, there's

(12:22):
some resiliency, some grit that's established during that and this
is a team I think that is locked in. They
want they want to go far. They're hungry, and this
is the window to do it. And I think they
believe that, they believe in the coach. Except I just
think that this game being in Denver, Denver knowing that
they have to play their best brand of football, I
think we see it. I think they rise to the
occasion because they had done that before, right especially when

(12:43):
the Cowboys, who are the two offense in the NFL
at one point everything thirty plus points per game, it's
you know, average in the most yards per game, they
came in as the most exclusive in and Denver they
stepped up to the plight. Granted, Dallas the defense was terrible,
but offensively you saw them explode in that game. So
the defense shut down a very explosive offense and a
lot of teams really struggled to stifle. This year, I

(13:05):
think that Denver is going to show up in a
big time way. It helps a little bit. Josh Allen's
receiving weapons are a little banged up. I think you know,
obviously Cleial Security, you're going to lie in him. Brandon Cooks,
go watch out for those big plays. You've got to
try to stop the ruman James Cook, but I'm really
you do that, but you really try to take away
their tight end production there. With those two guys in
Knox and t Kate and even have a rookie that's

(13:25):
playing really well this year, you have a really great
chance of winning game. And you have to avoid those
short yarded situations where you know Josh Allens is just
going to take it off guard under center and fall forward.
So I think the Denver's going to pourt. I think
it's going to be a close game. I think it's
going to be entertaining. I think Denver is going to
find a way to pull away.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
All right, we got you on the record for that there,
and of course Cody guaranteed that if he does not
get that correct, you'll pay everybody in Denver ten thousand
dollars a piece. Yeah right, yeah, left, he's got to
get old of is a state, right, I look the
last one for me, and this is a little lout
of a field, but I kind of been wanting to
get to the Sea vance. Joseph heavily in the mix

(14:03):
for a lot of head coaching gigs, probably leader in Arizona.
Jim Leonard is in the mix for quite a few
defensive coaching good jobs, including Dallas, including New York Giants.
Both those guys are gone next year, as Jim probably
figured to be the plan if Advance was gone.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
Who are looking at for defensive coordator to the Broncos
next year? Yeah, that's a great question.

Speaker 3 (14:23):
Does Philly stay status quo with Fangio owned company? Right?
I mean, does does Fangio stay there if he were
somehow become available. I know Sean will make an aggressive
push there, But trying to think of who you have
in house on staff that you know can maybe step
in the role, I'm not sure that guy who's there
really outside of Jim Leonard right now. And I think
that's just because you have a bunch of unknowns. You

(14:43):
brought in a bunch, you know, several new position coaches
at outside linebacker, obviously inside linebacker, after you made some
replacements after last year's staff. Then I think you finally
going to keep Jim Leonard. I think maybe that's maybe
something that he's anticipating, or maybe maybe you look at
Christian Parker again. You know, obviously he's going to be
a target of interest here in this hiring cycle as well,

(15:07):
So we're just gonna have to wait and see what.
I don't know if both of those guys are gone,
I feel like it's definitely somebody that's not in staff
at this point in time.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
Yeah, I post a hypothesis about the possibility of doing
something it's never been done before and trading for coordinator
Dennis Allen, But you know, I don't know how realistic
that is.

Speaker 2 (15:24):
We'll have to see see how they go.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
Cody, We appreciate the time as always and look forward
chat with.

Speaker 2 (15:29):
You again here soon.

Speaker 3 (15:30):
Absolutely see you guys on Saturday and appreciate you guys.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
Absolutely take care.

Speaker 1 (15:34):
Cody Rart from my last sport's very much alive despite
the Facebook AI posts that are out there. That is
one thing I do want to get into with the
next segment a little bit with you guys, like, what
are some names that you would want us to pursue
if if the Defense, you know, if everybody kind of
migrates on the Defense for another job is it appears
more and more likely, is something that could be possible.

(15:55):
We get in a break brocos Country night back after this. Well,
they have five six six nine zero of course text line.
Thanks to Cody Rourke for joining us in the last segment.
Missed any part of that, you gotta broc us Country
Night dot Com, slash podcast or podcast, Apple iTunes, Spotify,
the free and redesigned iHeartRadio app, or you can get

(16:17):
the Taking It for Granted podcast archives and potentially a
new episode here in a few days. Potentially potentially. I
mean he has what like fifteen days to get that out? Yeah,
sixteen sixteen days. I try to cheat your day there,
fifteen and a half. He's almost right, Yeah, I was.
You know, I should have rounded it my fast work
late at night. Well maybe earlier in the day, is

(16:37):
what I've been told. We got Rugby bean jonas top
of the Are you guys gonna stick around for that?
Several texts coming in seven to two, Nick, Come meet
my dog and English mastiff?

Speaker 2 (16:50):
What they didn't invite me to come meet your dog?
Just just you? Now that sounds very interesting.

Speaker 4 (16:56):
Come meet my dog, a dog that happens to be
big as hell, might I add?

Speaker 2 (17:02):
And they slobber a lot? So am I petting this dog?
I mean? Where are we meeting? I had a dog
park or what have you? I don't know. That's the
one thing about uh like, I'm particular about my dogs.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
Since you guys want to know, I don't want dogs
to drool like that's the that's the thing about all like,
that's the one like that. I'm like, No, that's the
reason I won't get a Saint Bernard or English Master
for the Bulldo any any of those dogs that like
drool like that?

Speaker 2 (17:27):
I don't want. That's not me.

Speaker 4 (17:28):
Well, they're you're a silken wind hound doesn't drew.

Speaker 2 (17:32):
But it is kind of hairy, but it doesn't shed.
It doesn't. It does not shed hypol. It's like a
Yorkshire terror.

Speaker 1 (17:38):
They don't ship. Yeah, that's the other thing. I don't
want a dog at sheds all over the place. I
don't want an entire you know, place coated and dog hair.
Do you want a dog that protects?

Speaker 2 (17:46):
That's I'm good.

Speaker 1 (17:47):
I got I kind of kind of got on the air.
No dog, I had a gun for that. I'm all right, No, okay,
I've gotta I've got three means of protection inside my
own establishment.

Speaker 2 (17:57):
I'm all right.

Speaker 4 (17:58):
Well, when it comes to protection, is it's levels to it,
and one needs multiple levels to it. I don't I
don't see a sick and one hound giving you an opportunity.

Speaker 1 (18:09):
As far as the intruder in false inse of security
by going up there.

Speaker 2 (18:15):
And trying to get petted. Well, I'm I'm pulling my
buddy six hour out over here. No, I mean, look,
German shepherd.

Speaker 3 (18:23):
Uh what is it?

Speaker 4 (18:27):
Wa?

Speaker 2 (18:27):
Excuse me? Mountain wah?

Speaker 1 (18:29):
Yeah you guys are you guys? You're looking for protection dogs.
I'm looking for just a buddy dog that like, does
not care like. But I don't want that job. I
don't want a weird dog that's a I don't want
to have to help him get up on the couch.

Speaker 4 (18:40):
Whether I'm that's why I see sometimes and not judging,
but I see guys with Yorkies and I'm like, okay, well.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
Okay, is that too fair? I've been there, all right.
I would throw a relationship.

Speaker 1 (18:52):
It's just back in the mid two thousands where she
wanted the Yorkshire Terror, so I bought her the Yorchster Terror,
and then we split. She left a dog with me,
swam rolling her around Arkansas with his tiny little Yorkie,
and people are making assumptions, you know, the assumption you're.

Speaker 4 (19:04):
Making it right now, I had no idea what you're
talking about.

Speaker 2 (19:08):
I'm just saying. Down in Arkansas, it was one of
those Yeah, down in Arkansas, it was. It was a
big time assumption. Did you carry it in the backpack?
Oh no, no, no, no, no, I'm not doing that.
A bad dog. Yeah, we're good. Uh this dog. But
I will say this, I love that dog like I would.

Speaker 1 (19:26):
I was resentful at first, but it was like the
smartest dog ever I got.

Speaker 2 (19:30):
Jack Wisson. Oh, he was so smart.

Speaker 1 (19:32):
It was one time, I must get ready watch football game, right,
And I made myself sandwich, was gonna sit down, but
put a sandwich on the table, grab myself a beverage,
and uh, Henry, which is a dog, jumped off the
couch and he jumped out on the floor. He's looking
back at me, and I'm like, he's looking at me
for something. You know, he wants something. When he looks
at me, he goes over to the door in heis
his leg up and I'm like, you you know, and
I said, so I go over there, grab some paper

(19:52):
towels and cleaner stuff. And I walk over there and
I'm looking around and I'm looking around and I can't.

Speaker 2 (19:57):
Find a wet spot.

Speaker 1 (19:58):
I look back, and the dog is on the couch
eating my sandwich, looking at me like I'm an idiot.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
Like that's how smart that dog was.

Speaker 4 (20:04):
Crap for me, Apparently that's exactly how the dog looked
at you, like an idiot, Like you look at.

Speaker 2 (20:09):
Me, you sitting there eating a turkey sandwich. She would says.

Speaker 1 (20:12):
He's just sitting there, just just numbing down, looking at
me like you're an idiot.

Speaker 2 (20:15):
And I was like, okay, all right.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
So that dog, like, even though he was a Yorki
and not really my thing, like, I love that dog
because he was just like super smart.

Speaker 4 (20:23):
Listen, man, I know every person is different, and I'm
not here to knock anyone's hustle.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
But my whole.

Speaker 4 (20:29):
Idea is that if I'm going to get a dog,
I'm gonna get a dog dog, right, A dog that
can sit there with me and you know, bur out
his chest and all that. Not a dog that if
something happened. No, I don't have to sing the damn dog. Yeah,
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (20:43):
I don't want, okay fair, But at the same time,
I don't want a dog that's looking at me like
where my money?

Speaker 2 (20:49):
You know what? I mean like, I don't need that.

Speaker 4 (20:51):
No.

Speaker 2 (20:51):
See, see when you get a when you get a
dog dog, when.

Speaker 4 (20:54):
That dog looks in your eye, that dog tells you
it's right to die.

Speaker 2 (20:58):
It's me and you broke. See I was I'm okay
with bro I'm not okay with like. No, I'm I'm
the captain. Now it's the dog puts his paws up.
It looks me dead in the eyes. You can't get
with those small dogs because you have a wife or girlfriend.

Speaker 4 (21:10):
Now the dog is gonna cut her up to her
whatever the dog want with that.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
I can't do that. I can't do it. No, nope,
can't do it. Stepish with your friends. Yes, yes, I
am not sacrificed in my main car.

Speaker 1 (21:23):
Okay, I'm gonna do it fair enough five six six
nine text line. By the way, apparently these mastiffs are
great guard dogs with great dispositions, but big enough to
ride in on like a horse. I guess if you
have kids, yes, eight to eight Australian shepherd shed but
their dope.

Speaker 2 (21:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
My my mom had an Australian mom. Her husband they
had an Australian chepher they named Neely after a Neil Perk,
and they had that dog for a long time.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
It was funny. He was like his disposition was like
the ere of dogs like it looked at it.

Speaker 1 (21:51):
They always looked at you like, well whatever. But it
was like a fun dog, you know overall.

Speaker 4 (21:58):
You know, what's a dog that I saw when I
lived in California And it's massive and it's and it's
Harry uh Irish wolf wolf found Yeah, are huge. I
don't know if they're I know they're probably great family dogs,
but I don't know how their Timberman is as far
as being protection dogs. But just walking down the street
with the dog like that, people are like, nah, we're

(22:20):
not gonna mess with that dude.

Speaker 2 (22:21):
We're gonna go over to the guy with the silk
and once wind house. I mean, yeah, instead of getting big,
you're gonna get two holes in the masks. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (22:29):
My buddy, my buddy, Kevin, Kevin Canterbury, big guy, bald head,
red beard, like a Viking.

Speaker 2 (22:36):
You know, he wet have to visit him. I was
living in Little Rocky time.

Speaker 1 (22:39):
We don't have to visit him in Nashville and uh
he had He's like, I'm not gonna be there. You
guys can let yourself in I put a key, uh
in the in the rock, you know, just grab the rock,
and it sounds like it's going.

Speaker 2 (22:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
So me and my buddy who drove drove out to
the visit, we we let ourselves in or whatever. I
sit down on the couch, but I put on something
cause I think there's a game on or something. I
put put the game on real quick, and all of
a sudden, out of nowhere, in the corner of my eye,
I see this head, like a dragon could just put
itself down in my lap. This dude had bought a
great Dane and not told us, and this massive dog

(23:12):
it was like like a horse, you.

Speaker 2 (23:14):
Know, just get rolled around. I was like, it's the
one time in my life I think I've squealed you.
Probably there was a yelp, however you want to put it.
It was the least mask was made. He probably took
a little whiz in his pants. No good, I'm good there.
I was good there. I look at this point, I'd
already been through a tour in a rack. Right, this
is the least masculine noise I've ever made.

Speaker 1 (23:35):
It's just this like dragon comes around the corner and
puts his head all the way across the couch because
it's huge.

Speaker 4 (23:41):
I'm telling you, the dog if you walk into anyone's spotting,
you don't know, and it's dark, and.

Speaker 2 (23:46):
It's a dog and not just a big dog. Not
a dog, just a big dog like a demon horse. Yes, hey,
I'm just saying, look, I'm pushing one of you guys.
Don't on the ground. I have to be the fastest one.

Speaker 4 (23:58):
I just had to be the not slowest, right exactly, Apocalypse,
just be faster than Ryan Edwards every time.

Speaker 1 (24:06):
Like you got a gun with the nine bullets in
it and a crowd of zombies coming at you, and
I'm like, yea.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
I'm shooting. I'm shooting Grant in the leg and running.
That's so cheap, surprising.

Speaker 1 (24:16):
It is probably like the ultimate zombie Apocalypse survivor.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
So I probably keep him his mind.

Speaker 1 (24:21):
If I had like a game companion, he's probably super resourceful.

Speaker 4 (24:24):
You know what would happened in that And this is
the way I'm visioning, Ben. She was Grant in the calve,
so all of a sudden, the zombies getting to him,
and the irony of it is Grant becomes a zombie
and ends up.

Speaker 1 (24:36):
Even get my whole zombie life motives will be to
just takedown man.

Speaker 2 (24:42):
And there's like the whole story arc the walking down.

Speaker 1 (24:45):
It's like the zombie search to get back at the
guy that yeah, and he would know where to find
me too. He's like, where's the laziest spot of human
being could be? That's where he's gonna be. That would
be hilarious.

Speaker 2 (24:57):
Oh my goodness.

Speaker 1 (24:58):
Fine, way off the off the rails, Broncos take it
on the Bills this weekend. How can what is the
blueprint here? What's the blueprint for the Broncos to beat
the Bills?

Speaker 2 (25:08):
I want you on offensive defense. Let's start with the
offense first.

Speaker 1 (25:11):
I mean, I think we all know we got to
be able to run the ball football consistently. But what's
the blueprint here for beating the beating the Bills?

Speaker 4 (25:17):
Well, run game aside, spread them out, open up the offense.

Speaker 2 (25:22):
There's so many times I've seen this season.

Speaker 4 (25:24):
I mean, you go back and watch film that there
are so many reduce and condensed formations. And the first
thing I think about when I see there reducing to
this formation, where are the receivers? Where are the tight ends?
Any of those guys are off the ball or we
call that grave digger position, which is once again off
the ball, maybe a yard close.

Speaker 2 (25:43):
To the tackle.

Speaker 4 (25:44):
I'm not really worrying about those guys automatically, because those
are guys that are gonna move behind the line of scrimmage.
They're not threatening me up the field right away. But
I'm looking at the wide receivers and say, well, who
are those wide receivers.

Speaker 2 (25:55):
What are the Tennessee's or routes that they run?

Speaker 4 (25:57):
Because you're looking at a lot of those shallow crossers.
So the Broncos need to spread, spread them out because
you brought up an interesting fact talking about the Bills
when they're with what the nickel does versus the boundary
versus the field.

Speaker 1 (26:12):
Right, for those that don't know, the field is the
wide side of the field. The boundaries the narrow side
of the field.

Speaker 2 (26:17):
And if you go.

Speaker 4 (26:17):
Back and you look at the Broncos over the season,
they've had issues handling pressure, especially nickel pressure. And with
those reduced formations, you bring those guys into the formation,
get those guys out, get those slot receivers out, so
at least you can identify where they're coming from. But
more importantly, I haven't seen the side adjustments right where

(26:41):
the receivers are.

Speaker 2 (26:42):
The tight ends look up and they see a.

Speaker 4 (26:44):
Guy motioning or gesturing like he's gonna come blits.

Speaker 2 (26:47):
You tap your head, tap your backside, give.

Speaker 4 (26:49):
Me away with a finger, so we know, don't just
keep running up the field, man, stop, find the open space,
sit down. But I would love to see the Broncos
do that. But the most important thing for me been
it's starting fast. We've seen the Broncos move the ball
down the field on a defensive opponents, but when they
get inside the red zone, you get zilch nothing na a.

(27:11):
We saw it against the Chargers moving the ball down
the field sept They moved it down the field couple
of times, but that first drive was probably one of
the better drives I've seen all season long. By the differ,
Broncos got inside the red zone nothing, so you have
to start fast, space them out, and when you get
inside the red zone, love Will L's to death. I
don't want to see Will Lutz. Yeah, we don't need

(27:33):
the MVP out there. I just need him on extra points.
That's it, right, that's what we hope. Yes, you know,
the Bills are mostly a Tampa two team. That's that's
what their defense is rooted in. Now they don't do
that every play, but there their defense is rootedy.

Speaker 1 (27:45):
And cover two concepts, Tampa two concepts, and that's that's
how they play. It's mostly zone they will but that,
like I said, I discovered something. When I'm flipping through,
I'm like, okay, they got a little tell here where
they're going man or they're bringing a blitz and they
do it when they put the nickel over there on
the on the boundary side. As far as the rest
of it goes, how can they Brouckles defend this Buffalo attack.

Speaker 2 (28:05):
They're huge on the offensive line.

Speaker 1 (28:08):
Their average weight is well outclasses our defensive line by
about twenty pounds.

Speaker 2 (28:13):
I mean, they're huge.

Speaker 1 (28:13):
They got three hundred and forty pound guard, three out
and thirty five pound tackle. They are hefty on the
offensive line, and they figure because of that decimated receiving
cores to be in a lot of twelve personnel.

Speaker 4 (28:23):
Yeah, and that's the one thing when you think of
about the Buffalo Bills with the issue with the wide receivers.
They have two darn good tight ends, right, Daltons and
k and Dawson Knuts don't sleep on them, right, These
guys that they're block you, they're last and steer guys.
What I mean by that, they'll grab you as a
defender and drive you off the ball to create separation

(28:47):
so the Bills can actually run the ball. Let me
say that again, creating separation between defenders so they can
run the ball with James Cook. But these guys are
going to be deployed in the passing game. And the
biggest issue for me that the defense needs to master
is not just and you would think ideally I would say, oh,
find a way to uh make just Allen's life miserable.

Speaker 2 (29:10):
No, the most important thing for me for this defense
is communication because all.

Speaker 4 (29:17):
That take is one guy, one guy to say, oh,
I thought you told me to do this.

Speaker 2 (29:22):
I thought we were going to do this.

Speaker 4 (29:24):
Now that's a crease or or space in the passing
games or alec can exploit.

Speaker 1 (29:29):
And that's that's why there's always stress on the defense
in the modern game. Right on the offense, you just
need one thing to go right on the on defense,
if one thing goes wrong, you're sunk, right, And so
that's that's sort of the thing is, Uh, you do
need that communication you do have to have that ability
to and know each other well enough of each other's
tendencies to know where the where the seams are and
zone or where you know where the pass off point
is whatever you play, So there are you know, there's

(29:51):
there is a lot to that in terms.

Speaker 2 (29:52):
Of in terms of communication from the the preparation standpoint.

Speaker 1 (29:57):
Is it a different atmosphere, It's a different, different mentality
in preparation because I mean, this is truly a losing
you go home, or at least stay home in the
Broncos case type environment, whereas regular season games you may
not quite feel that same pressure all the time.

Speaker 4 (30:11):
The other thing, ben you have the pressure of winning,
go home, but your preparation should change because it should
be the same as though it's any other game, because
you're not just gonna say, well, uh, you know, for
seventeen weeks, I didn't really prepare, Oh this game, Oh,
because it's on the line, is at home now now
I'm gonna give them everything I have. It's like, no,

(30:34):
that makes absolutely no sense. So the idea is whatever
you were doing from a defensive standpoint all year long,
you need to prepare in that particular way.

Speaker 2 (30:43):
And I was at in practice. Today, I'm talking to
a couple of.

Speaker 4 (30:45):
Media individuals and this conversation came up, like, like, what
would I tell the players on the Broncos roster.

Speaker 2 (30:53):
The idea is that you think that you'll be back here.

Speaker 4 (30:58):
There's no guaranteed that was in this particular position five
six season and you're thinking, Okay, we're bringing back our
coaching staff, same players coming back. But oh, by the way,
that's not how it happens. You lose players, you lose coaches.

Speaker 2 (31:14):
So look at.

Speaker 4 (31:15):
This moment and enjoy it, right, Don't bypass it. Don't
let the pressure get to you so much. Enjoy the moment,
enjoy the ride, because when it's over, it's over. You
want to make sure when the final second take off
the clock, that the Broncos are in victory formation. If
for some reason the Broncos and bow Knicks are not

(31:38):
in victory formation, and it's Josh Allen, whatever you built
up in your mind and your level of preparation over
this time, you didn't do a good job. And that's
what you want to make sure. You want to make
sure that you lean into this game. And it's always
difficult around this time of year. Been because even though
players don't want to talk about it, coaches definitely don't

(31:58):
want to talk about it. But you know what lurks
over the horizon. You know, Levi Stadium looks over the horizon.
There's nothing wrong with having that vision of getting there
and envisioning yourself playing in a super Bowl, but know
that this is where you laid the groundwork in the foundation.
And if you don't win this game, all it is
is if I could have, would have, should have?

Speaker 1 (32:20):
Right, And you don't want to leave any of that
out there. I think there is absolutely not you know,
I don't think I think you're right. I don't think
there's any you know, additional preparation. You know you have
never pared all. You can't be like that. But there
is something to the fourth quarter of a game where
you're down an elimination game, digging in and finding that
extra two percent whatever's left in you.

Speaker 2 (32:39):
Know what I'm talking about.

Speaker 1 (32:40):
I was going to Tim tebo effect, because Tim Tebelew
was was hot garbage throwing the football through three quarters.
But man, that dude would dig down and find something
at the end of game. So there are guys that
liked it. There are guys that are gamers. They just
they at the end of the game, when everything's on
the line, they find a little extra something.

Speaker 4 (32:55):
No, you're absolutely right, but can you give me anyone
else on the team.

Speaker 1 (33:01):
Well, I'm gonna I'm gonna talk about myself here for
a minute because it is what we're doing the show.
You know, play and honestly, it's the weirdest sport playing tennis, Right,
there's something like I'm a competitive dude, you know that.

Speaker 2 (33:10):
I mean, you've known me long, you knows so that
that was actually a pretty decent tennis player.

Speaker 1 (33:15):
And that was one of those things like I would
goof off most of the year and you know whatever,
but you got in those tournaments at the end of
the year and I'm like, Okay, this is it.

Speaker 2 (33:23):
I gotta win, nap. There was something about that.

Speaker 1 (33:25):
Clicking in that moment and I could dig down just
a little bit and focus and concentrate and do the
things I was supposed to do rather than just not
necessarily taking it serious all the time or something like that.
And it was the same thing in other sports. It
came out like that was the one area like I
was a staggering the mediocre guy with all said and
done right like we ham it up on the show.

Speaker 2 (33:43):
But I was staggering the media.

Speaker 1 (33:44):
But I'm telling you there is something to that clutch
gene in the fourth quarter, because whatever it is, whenever
I get in that moment in the backs against the.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
Wall, the light came on.

Speaker 4 (33:54):
See, I'm like, damn, that clutch gen ran out all
the time. Yes, I wish I had that mechanism do
it all the time. I wish I wish I was
able to do that. I don't know how to bottle
it up and do that. Man, don't have to get
your special sauce during the break.

Speaker 2 (34:04):
Probably be when we talk next.
