Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ben Smith here with him. Five six sixty nine zero
is the text line.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
But breaking news out of baseball, Kyle Tucker has agreed
to a four year, two hundred and forty million dollars
deal with the LA Dodgers.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
Of course, of course, scrappy.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
That's scrappy upstart TV out West there, the scrappy upstart Dodgers.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
They never they never get anybody like they need any
more help.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
But all the nunsen stopped. When you get a salary
cap baseball, just Sam, that's not gonna happen. Well, I bet,
I bet it does. I bet the next CBA does
You got about you got about twenty five teams in baseball.
They're sick of the Yankees, Red Sox and Dodgers buying
everybody up.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
Spend more money, what money.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
Go find it's what there's always more money go look
at because it's funny.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Yeah, that's uh, that's what I've been anytime.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
I uh, you know when you're next time you're looking
at that Lambeau in the parking lot and you're like,
I can't afford this, go find it, Nick, you gotta
shake out the cushes that counse little Arder.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Yes, oh, Let's go to the Kaway Commas Pearl hotline
and welcome to CBS roby being to the show.

Speaker 4 (01:05):
Rom Me, how you doing, I'm checking my couch for
some extra change.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Guys, got really we all need to check Nick's couches
that we won't change it.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Than the rest of us.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
Oh yeah, Dodgers getting getting Tucker there on another obscene deal.
It's just just another reminder that the Rockies are.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
Poor, the rich get richer.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
That's how it goes. But you know who's not bored.
It's the Denver Broncos.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
As we are headed into the playoffs, the number one
overall seed. We're on to finally getting our first playoff
game here at home in quite some time. The Buffalo Bills,
who frankly humbled us last year, or back for the
revenge tour.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
How are we feeling about this game? You know, it's
so crazy.

Speaker 4 (01:46):
This game feels light years away from last year's game.
That feels so different in so many ways. Obviously, the
Bills being banged up is a huge factor, but I
just think it's really the Broncos that feel different. A
lot of similar faces brought in. They see some key
pieces as well. But you know, it's like last year
they were just happy to be in the dam. This year,
there's expectations, and it's and there's and they believe in themselves.

(02:09):
And I think it's the mentality, it's the confidence level,
and it's the belief in what they've done all season.
It just feels it rolls apart. Obviously there's extra the
nods to dive into, but it just this year. I
feelink most people went into last year maybe not thinking
it was going to be a blowout, but maybe knowing
what was going to happen. And this year it feels
like the momentum really is on the Broncos side.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Right now, Well, let's talk about that momentum going to
the game. Obviously, you hosting at home when you were
on the road last season. How much of that do
you think that the Broncos will feed off of? And
second part of it, do you think that that would
create more pressure for them?

Speaker 4 (02:50):
I think it's just a massive Obviously, they've been so
good at home this year, They've recaptured home field advantage.
You know, people will debate an altitude matter or not,
but at the end of the day, it is a factor.
So it's one of those things that not only do
you have this loud crowd and Sean Payton continues to
coach up, but you've got I mean, you've got the elements,
You've got a piece of mother nature that no other

(03:12):
place can replicate. And Josh Allen was even talking about
it this week having played at Wyoming, and he acknowledged
that it's physically challenging, but you just got to try
not think about it.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
But I think the.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
Broncos will just feed off of it. They've shown, you know,
that they love playing at home and that they really
feed off the crowd and the energy is just it's
just it's going to be absolutely insane. And the other
thing is, you know, I was in Buffalo last year
and the energy there was insane.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
That crowd was insane.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
The Broncos couldn't hear a thing, So they know what
it's like on the other side, and definitely makes a difference.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Tyler romy Bean from CBS, you know, Roby, it's better
to be in the playoffs, certainly than some of the
other conversations that Broncos had in recent years. Around this time,
you look around the league and almost twenty five percent
of league looking for a head coach, you draft conversations
going on, all this kind of stuff.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Is it nice to not have to worry about any
of that stuff, you know?

Speaker 4 (04:04):
And it's so wonderful. I keep looking at all the teams,
you know, it's actually funny. So the Ravens when they
first started posting We've completed an interview with so and so,
so and so, and I just looked at the comments
and there was a lot of Raven fans that were.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
Kept saying, why is.

Speaker 4 (04:19):
The team posting about this?

Speaker 1 (04:21):
Isn't this weird? Isn't this something.

Speaker 4 (04:22):
That that journalists do, like what's going on? And I
was like, this is That's an franchise that hasn't had
to deal with it. We dealt with it so many
times that no impact the team does put it out.
So it's nice to be on the other side of
it where we don't have to speculate or or make,
you know, go down the list.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
Of every possible maybe this guy, maybe this guy. Maybe
there's so.

Speaker 4 (04:43):
Many potential head coaches I learned about over the years
that I don't really need that knowledge in my brain.
It's and I said, we don't have to worry about that.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
So ROMI in your mind. What is it that the
Broncos have to do to win this game? And I
know the two sides of the ball, so I'll start
with the defensive side of the ball.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
Force.

Speaker 4 (05:01):
Yeah, I mean the biggest thing with the defensive side
of the ball stopped to run and stopped to run
really is a.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
Two headed monster.

Speaker 4 (05:07):
I mean, you talk about James Cook and he can
break you. He really can. Ran for one hundred and
twenty over the Broncos last year. But you know, Jackson
called him the under fifty rushing yards, So that's part A.
Part B is Josh Allen and that's you know, caging
him in and keeping him from being a runner because
Josh Allen has more rushing yards than R. J. Harvey,
so he essentially got a second running back back there

(05:27):
as well. So I think that this Broncos unit they
beast it up in the off season, bringing in Greenlaw
and Hufunga are massive assets. I think we're going to
see a much different defense than the one that got
ran for well was it too something last year in Buffalo.
But for me, the biggest thing, obviously you have to
account for Josh Allen, and I guess that is factor
number one, but the other big element is stopping the

(05:50):
run and making them one dimensional and taking James Cook
out of it and making Josh Allen win this on
his own, making him carry thee, which he's done, but
making him truly have to be the one to carry
the team across the finish line.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
Robbie, you mentioned Rgie Harvey there.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
Let's talk about that for a minute, because you know,
if you look down the stretch, it's kind of felt
like that maybe the Broncos are overutilizing.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
Him in the run game.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
The excellent pass catcher, but maybe overutilized in the run game.
And you know, Julia McLoughlin maybe underutilized in the run game.
Would we like to see a little bit more of
Juweel's McLoughlin out there.

Speaker 4 (06:22):
We would like to see more Jewels. And you know, honestly,
I said this week, ride the hot hand. I don't
care who the hot hand is, but this is a
Buffalo defense that has shown time and time again that
they are not good at stopping the run. They give
up a tremendous amount of you know, yards per carry,
and just Jackonville I think had one fifty four on
them last week. So I don't care who your hot

(06:44):
hand is, but ride the hot hand, which you know
you don't need to be selling them in out a
million times either. Okay, you know, I'm not going to
tell anybody how to coach a game, but I would
like to see both of them utilized a lot. And
I'm here Julil also, you're just kind of pulling from
as a person. I mean, you know, a really trying
season that he has and to get this opportunity by
way of injury for that reason as well, like to

(07:06):
see him have success. But I think he's a guy
that can really slippery and he can he can do
damage on Buffalo's defense, and I think that's such a
key to victory in this one. Is really really running
the ball.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
Well, it's funny, as you mentioned running the ball because
the last game against the Chargers, bow Nikes was a
team leading rusher eight carries for forty eight yards.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
Would you like to see bo continue that trend and
running the ball.

Speaker 4 (07:34):
One thousand percent? Run bow run. You know, we keep
talking about Josh Allen being a runner, but it was,
you know, especially earlier in the season, it felt like
we really didn't see bow run a lot. As the
season kind of started to wind down. It seemed to
see a little bit more design runs and him just
making the decision to use his legs and extend the plays.
And I think that's a big factor here as well. Again,

(07:55):
talking about this Buffalo defense and kind of how poor
they are in the run game, I think Bo makes
himself a runner is a huge advantage, and especially I
want to see that.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
Yes, that was very eloquent.

Speaker 4 (08:07):
Especially yes, but yeah, I think bow running is another
you could call it an X factor in this game.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
Tager Romvine from CBS on the other side of the ball.
You know, we talking about Josh running the ball and
you know, Cook running the ball, and the Bill's wide
receiver room is decimated. The maybe like four bodies in
that room right now, you know, including the practice squad,
maybe six, And it's going to force them into a
lot more twelve personnel, two tight end sets where they're
going to be forced to run the ball a little

(08:35):
bit more.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
But that might that might play a little in their favor.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
I mean, that offensive line is huge, and they kind
of blew us off the ball a little bit last year.
What can we what can we expect out of that?
And do we hope that this defensive line has figured
out a few extra tricks this year to kind of
battle the physicality of Buffalo No.

Speaker 4 (08:51):
One thousands, And honestly, then, like however many receivers are
active on game, then let's say it's four, let's just
knock that down the three because whoever pats covering is
not going to do anything, so.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
They've got nobody.

Speaker 4 (09:02):
Let's be honest, right, And I think when you come
down to the trenches, it really is best on best.
Zach Allen I toil to him about this that this week,
and he acknowledged that like that they really feel the
Broncos feel like their strength is the trenches. And obviously
Buffalo is really bullied a lot of guys around with
their offensive line. So I think that's kind of when

(09:22):
we talk about this game is so many games are
won and lost in the trenches and cliche cliche, but
I think.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
That one really can will hold true.

Speaker 4 (09:30):
For this one. And the Broncos defense and the run
defense is largely improved from last year to this year,
so I do think that makes a difference. And I
think Dray green Laws tousicality makes a difference as well,
So I do think that the Broncos be much improved
in that area. But there has to be because I
think it is going to come so much down to
what happens there at the line of scrimmage.

Speaker 1 (09:51):
Well, roll me really quickly.

Speaker 3 (09:52):
I want to put you on the hot seat for
a second and this right to do a little forecasting,
if you will, after the game on Saturday.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
The storyline you think will be what, Oh, I know,
I know.

Speaker 2 (10:10):
It's kind of asking you to predict whos wins or
losses and guarantee you your.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
That's something Ben would try to do to you.

Speaker 3 (10:18):
I'm asking, well, what do you think would be a
big storyline coming out of the game on Saturday. I mean,
it could be a positional group playing well, the Broncos
got two turnovers, passer, you have two pick sixers. What
do you think is going to be a large storyline?
Because we know I either win the loss, there's gonna
be a storyline there. But I'm trying to get to
the underlining storylines.

Speaker 4 (10:40):
I think that the big storyline the Broncos will have
more rushing yards than passing yards. And that's why they
won this ball game, because they rode.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
Here we go. That's what I was looking for. Yeah,
I'm not going to ask you to predict the game.
I'll leave that to the guy right to my right
to kind of ask you that question.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
I don't know what you're talking about.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
I think the storyline out of this one is either
going to be that the Broncos are better than people
thought they were or why has Sean Payton only won
one playoff game in the last six atteps.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
I think that's that's probably what one of those two
is going to be. The storylines.

Speaker 4 (11:17):
Have one hundred percent with you. You can say secrets will
be revealed.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
You know a lot of.

Speaker 4 (11:22):
People are saying all the Broncos are frauds, all the
Broncos are for real. We're going to find out exactly
who they are. There's all sorts of I mean, every
moment on X there's a new thing coming out about
you know, Broncos haven't played very many top five offenses
and you know X, X, Y and Z and chanpaygne postseason.
You know, record as of late except bo Nix again's

(11:42):
winning teams. I saw some stat out today. I think
with an X scoring x amount of points. You know,
there's a lot of pontificating going on, We're going to
find out exactly who's who in the zoo as they
as they like to say. And I do think it's
one of those things where you know, for me, I
feel like Josh Allen has the weight of the world
and his shoulders. There's no Ma Homes, there's no Burrow,

(12:03):
There's more pressure on him than ever to get the
team to the super Bowl, and it does feel in
so many ways he's gonna be like, if Buffalo is
going to come out on top, it's because Josh Allen
quite literally puts everyone on his back and he gets
in there. And the truth is he can do that.
That absolutely can happen. But you know, I think one
thing that works in the Broncos favor is eleven and

(12:24):
two and one score games this year, twelve come back wins.
The playoffs is all about that, right Wildcard weekend, I
think three teams were trailing with two minutes to go,
they all ended up winning. So in that way, I
think that the Broncos can lean on that, and it
is a close game. I have confidence of them in
those close moments to find a way to come.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
Out on Topby being from CBS, we appreciate you as
always look forward seeing it.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
Down here on Saturday.

Speaker 4 (12:49):
All right, He'll be a good time.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
Hopefully, hopefully hopefully.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
Yeah, after all of that, we know, as you really
wanted to say, I just really hoping the Broncos, don't
you know.

Speaker 4 (13:05):
Art one out.

Speaker 1 (13:06):
We had to get that win in for the good
luck charm. I had to get it in for the win.
That was great.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
Bye CBS for romy Bain and Saturday's game, Man, is
going to be so electric for those fans who are
listening to us around the country. Uh, it's it's bittersweet
that you can't really be here to experience it. As
a guy that played five of my teen years for
this organization, loved them dearly. There's nothing like a home

(13:35):
playoff game, and the atmosphere is going to be on
freaking real.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
That is one of those things I'm looking forward to,
is Uh, it's just sort of seeing the sort of
seeing the the stadium, the reaction, the fan buzz, the
electricity in that stadium on Saturday.

Speaker 3 (13:51):
See, I'm interested in seeing what kind of jackie you're
gonna wear.

Speaker 1 (13:53):
For this game, to see if Ben actually makes it
down to the field.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
Inside I was trying he wanted my tongue off there
because I was gonna say.

Speaker 1 (14:12):
What he was doing. You can see Ben's mind, it
wills in real time.

Speaker 3 (14:17):
He's thinking, should I say the first thing that can't
to my mind?

Speaker 1 (14:21):
Don't let that one go, don't worry.

Speaker 5 (14:22):
Everyone that matters that I hired is at a holiday
party anyway.

Speaker 3 (14:26):
I don't think I've ever seen Ben stop in his
track and he's thinking but still not saying what you
wanted to say.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
It's funny because somebody said somebody earlier today was like,
what would have been your react? Because the Luca Evans
question with the Sean Payton thing or whatever, but the
Downhill linebacker or whatever.

Speaker 1 (14:45):
Yeah, they were like, dude, Like at first I thought
that was Ben, and then I was like, there's.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
No way that was Ben because Ben would have like
just popped off.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
And I'm like, yeah, that's that's I think. The other
reason I don't ask questions there is just because like I.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
Like, the one time somebody gets smart with me, I'm
gonna get smart back, and it's not gonna be conducive
to like a.

Speaker 1 (15:01):
So you know, if it ever happened, like I came
up in roach culture, dude, like you know, if.

Speaker 3 (15:06):
It's Ben, if someone if all the media people grab
their phones and Ben is being thrown to the ground.

Speaker 2 (15:12):
Box, if it's away from Sean Baton to me, still
running on your monologue over there, I just pops off
on head coach. No, Don's got a juicy through imprint
on the side of the.

Speaker 3 (15:24):
Want that Ben's gonna be ushered out of the vicinity.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
You know it's the.

Speaker 2 (15:28):
First time for everything. I tell you what if they lose,
I'm a top hole set up, young men. Oh six pack,
we come back. Zack Siegert stepping in here for an
NFL six pack.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
It is time for the NFL six path. I'm gonna
drink a lot of beer.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
Insight and insight information you can't find anywhere else.

Speaker 1 (15:53):
I know the top six NFL headlines.

Speaker 5 (15:57):
What In each of the past four seasons, a team
that picked in the top five the prior year advanced
to at least the divisional.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
Round after hiring a new head coach.

Speaker 5 (16:09):
It's Mike Rabel this year, Dan Quinn last year, Tamiko
Ryans two years ago, and Brian Dable three years ago.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
Will John Harbaugh accomplished that feat for the Giants this year.

Speaker 5 (16:20):
Or and are the Raiders, Jets, Cardinals, Titans, or Giants most.

Speaker 1 (16:25):
Likely to achieve such a turnaround.

Speaker 2 (16:28):
No, I'm the Giants, and maybe the Steelers are Ravens.
I don't think any of the other teams I would expect.
I'm just running down the list here. Maybe I mean
Tennessee because I think they're gonna hire Matnaggi.

Speaker 1 (16:40):
If Tennessee were to get the right coach in there,
I think they could get there. I just I don't
know that.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
Matt Naggie said, Dude, whoever takes the Raiders jobs got
an uphill battle, or it takes Arizona's got an uphill battle.

Speaker 1 (16:52):
Miami, You've got an uphill back.

Speaker 3 (16:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
I can't see anybody, but maybe Pittsburgh or Baltimore. I
like Harribull with the Giants to have someone of a turnaround. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
One, they have a young quarterback. They just have to
teach him how to slide and follow on the ground.

Speaker 5 (17:06):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
They have a great bunch of edge rushers in their
defense play well.

Speaker 1 (17:11):
And just the fact that he's been around a.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
Great organization with the Baltimore Ravens and he's coming away
known as though he's had some great defenses that had
Ed Reeve and ray Lewis.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
Yes, he knows how to build a team.

Speaker 3 (17:26):
And guess what I mean, he's in the NFC East, right,
I mean you can take over.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
That division because the Dallas team looks like it's he
hasn't really done.

Speaker 5 (17:38):
A whole hell of a lot, and yeah, that'd be bad.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
By the way.

Speaker 2 (17:42):
Washington interviewing John Gannon today is my world start to mesh.

Speaker 3 (17:46):
Washington and all those teams will be back, but we're
talking about a coach that can get them over to hump.
John Harbaugh is a perfect coach and I think that
he can make have a great turnaround in twenty twenty
six with that team.

Speaker 5 (17:57):
I also think there's just a lot of talent on
that Giants deep that wasn't really getting utilized these last
two years. You look at all the talent they have,
not just on the edge, but in the interior.

Speaker 1 (18:06):
With Dexter Lawrence, I think they've got what it may.

Speaker 5 (18:08):
They got neighbors coming back on offense, You've got an
exciting young core on offense. And I think the common
theme with those those teams that did pull off the turnaround,
besides the new head coach, because a lot of them
had the young quarterback to help spur that turnaround to
c J.

Speaker 1 (18:22):
Stroud, Jaden Daniels of course, and then Drake made this
year two.

Speaker 5 (18:28):
Eagles GM Howie Roseman was noncommittal today when asked about
AJ Brown's future with the team and the potential for
a trade. Will the Eagles move Brown this offseason and
if so, would or should the Broncos make a move
for Brown?

Speaker 1 (18:45):
I go shop him. He is not a Sean Payton player,
so uh take that? How you will see my next
Goes movie. Why would you say he's not a chompion player.
I think we know the answer to that. You'd be
my counter to that.

Speaker 5 (19:00):
Michael Thomas was a bit of a headache kid throughout
their time, like this.

Speaker 1 (19:08):
Slinging in a fight with one of the coaches. Like
didn't he punch a coach during practice?

Speaker 3 (19:12):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (19:13):
Not that I'm aware of. I do remember. You have
to you have to show me that now.

Speaker 2 (19:16):
I do remember there being an an altercation, a verbal altercation,
but not that was smooth over.

Speaker 1 (19:24):
CJ. Gardner Johnson. Everybody's punched CJ. Garter Johnson. Yeah, he
did a postgame interview once and I punched him. It
was yeah. He CJ. Garter.

Speaker 2 (19:37):
Johnson is one of the most unlikable people in the league.

Speaker 1 (19:39):
I think we get him. A lot of people have
pubout a J. Brown man. I like him as a receiver.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
I love his attitude, and that's the attitude you have
to possess. But you need a certain roster and coaches
stab that can actually handle that. And even though Hyler
Rose macdown plays it, that's gonna be a huge conversation
because you don't get into it with your coach on.

Speaker 1 (19:59):
The multiple times, multiple times, and you could tell A. J.
Brown was frustrating the season. So we could see a J.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
Brown. He's already out there tweeting like mcaveelly quotes and
stuff too, so you know, you know what's up. And
he gets in the fight in the fight on the
sideline and then drops a big catch late in the game.

Speaker 1 (20:15):
Ye drum, Yeah, yeah, it's yeah. He's not a Sean
Payton guy. I'll just put it that way. That's the
nicest way I could put that. Three the culture fit.

Speaker 5 (20:23):
You can't demand the ball like that and then stop
running on defense.

Speaker 2 (20:29):
You can't be the guy bagging a drum like that
to turn around to not be the guy that delivers
when you get it.

Speaker 5 (20:34):
Sam Donald is listed as questionable for Saturday night's Divisional
round game between the Seahawks and forty nine Ers, opening
the door for Drew Lock to potentially receive his first
career playoffs start. How likely is it that Donald misses
this game? And if he were to miss it, where
would you move the betting line to? The Seahawks are
currently favored by seven points.

Speaker 1 (20:55):
For what it's worth, Well, I've already told this, Sam
Darnald's gonna start. So you're saying one hundred chance. I'm
told Sam Darnold is going to start that game. All right,
Let's think about my purse. And I told Ben.

Speaker 3 (21:07):
This, Why was Sam Donald even though he's a bang up,
banged up every players banged up? At this point, you
have he in a position where you've already beaten San
Francisco already. He went two games here in the Super Bowl, right,
and you plan in the s emphasis forty nine is backyard.

Speaker 1 (21:23):
You're gonna do everything you can to play in that game.
He's not handing this over to Drew Lock, even.

Speaker 3 (21:28):
If he has to come out with crushes a bandage.

Speaker 1 (21:32):
I'm I'll just tell you what it is.

Speaker 3 (21:33):
Whatever it is, he is not handing the keys over
to Drew Lock. I guess as much as you may
want that, Zach Seegers, I.

Speaker 5 (21:40):
Just love the idea of a quarterback handing off the
ball to you, a defensive lineman.

Speaker 1 (21:44):
I've only seen it once. I'd love to see it
a second time.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
I I'm here for all of the true luck playtime
ever ever since that ridiculous like ever since he screwed
over the Giants, that was why against the Colts, like
fire making it rain, it.

Speaker 1 (22:02):
Was, it was, it was and the greatest thing I've
ever seen.

Speaker 2 (22:05):
I am all for seeing Drew Lock out there if
if we can't, but what we won't, He'll be Sam
Darnald unless.

Speaker 1 (22:10):
He gets injured in that game and can't go any further.

Speaker 5 (22:12):
If you were in the Seahawks, would you have any
mindset of, Hey, we just played this team at full
strength with George Kittle in San Francisco and held them
to three points, you know, at home rest.

Speaker 1 (22:26):
But we're not do.

Speaker 5 (22:27):
That again, and uh, making sure Sam Donald's healthy for
then NAC Championship.

Speaker 2 (22:31):
You get up multiple scores, if you get multiple scores late,
maybe you know, if you're up twenty one nothing or
something like that, then you know late then maybe, but
you're not doing that with a close game that they
can they can kid.

Speaker 1 (22:43):
Seeably come back on four. Guys aren't giving Drew Lock
a chance. He just needs the right coach.

Speaker 4 (22:48):
I'm not.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
I'm being failed.

Speaker 2 (22:52):
The run down down at Drew lock hater five dot com.

Speaker 5 (22:57):
Patrick Mahomes told the media today that he intends to
be ready for week one of twenty twenty six.

Speaker 1 (23:02):
But you know that intention, I don't know how much
that matters.

Speaker 5 (23:06):
Will he be ready for week one and if not,
how much time do you think he'll miss next season?

Speaker 2 (23:11):
Well? I intend for Onnoday our mouse to be my girlfriend.
But you know how intended that doesn't work out? Yeah, yeah,
she likes him older as far as as far as
the rest of that goes. Yeah, the recovery on that
he's not gonna be playing until you know, probably October
of next year. He's probably gonna just the first month.
Like we're just being realistic here. There's just no way
and there's no way the Chiefs are trotting him back
out there, putting him at risk of worse when when

(23:33):
he's coming back off this particular injury, so I am
not in the least bit I would be stunned if
he plays in the month of September.

Speaker 3 (23:41):
I like the optimism, right, I mean that means he's
gonna attack to his his rehab, just as though he
attacked opposing defenses. So I give him a lot of
credit for that. But as a guy that some of
them two knee surgeries, I can tell you man, the
physical part is tough, but it's the mental part that's tougher,
and that's gonna be really hard for.

Speaker 1 (23:59):
Him to push through that.

Speaker 5 (24:00):
I think you guys are right, it'd be pretty stunning.
Let's just say, uh, he does come back in October.
We'll just go with that estimation. If you're the Chiefs,
are you how aggressive are you being about that backup
quarterback position? Are you thinking we're still trying to win
a Super Bowl this year?

Speaker 1 (24:16):
Aggressive? Or is it still a rebuildload? Aggressive? Aggressive? Ben?
Say the question again.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
Sorry, I was responding to a text message that I
did not want to go undone.

Speaker 1 (24:29):
Sorry.

Speaker 5 (24:29):
Do you think if Mahomes did return in October? They
know he's returning in October, how aggressive would you approach
this season?

Speaker 1 (24:37):
From the Chiefs.

Speaker 5 (24:38):
Do you think it's a reload season or are you
still going all in trying to win a chip?

Speaker 2 (24:41):
You're all I mean, Andy Reids sixty seven years old, man,
you're all in. You know you're probably losing Kelsey, You're
probably losing a couple of players, so he u is
a light reload anyway.

Speaker 1 (24:51):
But you're I mean, you play, You played to win
the game.

Speaker 2 (24:53):
You know you're not playing for you know, Andy Reid's
at this point is not at this point here for
rebuilds like he's here for reload five.

Speaker 5 (25:02):
This week's Bears Rams game is set to be one
of the coldest games of the last several years. That's
anticipated to have an airtemp of zero to fifteen degrees
but a windshill between negative fifteen and zero degrees. Do
you think the Rams will struggle at all in these
frigid elements considering they're in LA team, but they're also
pretty darn good at running the ball? And what do

(25:23):
you make of the trend of dome stadiums taking over
the league? It seems like every new stadium rendering, whether
it's Washington, Cleveland, or even the Broncos telling us that
they're gonna have a hybrid stadium.

Speaker 1 (25:34):
All the new stadiums have domes. How do you feel
about that?

Speaker 2 (25:36):
Well, they have domes because the league requires it in
order to get certain events.

Speaker 1 (25:40):
So that's why.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
As far as the rest of it goes, Matt Stafford's
record in cold weather games with Raider Snow since being
with the.

Speaker 1 (25:47):
Rams is one and nine.

Speaker 2 (25:49):
He is not good in below freezing below freezing stuff.
He's fifty nine completion percentage excuse me, fifty four percent
completion percentage in there, seventy six passer rating and in
those games only fourteen touchdowns on eleven interceptions.

Speaker 1 (26:03):
He's not good the Coals. So take that, how you
will still think the Rams win.

Speaker 3 (26:07):
Cold Weather makes things interesting for teams coming from warmer climates. Obviously,
that's known because too and the Dolphins always struggle and
in cold weather games. We even seen that with the
Tampa Bay Buccaneers back in their Hey Dave when my
teammate John Lynch was there. So this the cold weather
is gonna present some challenges. But the one thing that
the Rams do well they run the ball. And if

(26:28):
you play a little keypaway, get a turnover here and there,
then maybe you can still the game on the roads.
As far as the domes are concerned. I'm all four
because it still allows you to have a retractable roof
where you're still going to open the elements to your opponents,
but also close the roof during the times where you're
not having a game where you can make more money.

Speaker 5 (26:47):
Yeah, I'm really curious to see how the Rams perform
in this game.

Speaker 1 (26:50):
The point about Stafford struggles.

Speaker 5 (26:52):
But to your point, I feel like what Age is
best in these colder months is the run game and
the defense. Dam they got the better run game, they
got the better defense, Like the Bears. Run game is good.
The Rams have the third best rushing success rate in
NFL history.

Speaker 1 (27:05):
They've got a historically great run game. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (27:08):
The people don't want to hit the cold man. You
just don't want to tackle in the cold. Well, it
sucks to me.

Speaker 1 (27:13):
I love tackling the negative wind show. Well, yeah, you
get the chance to show up people facing the day. Yeah,
but you're that guy. The rest of us like it's
cold and we don't wear sleeves either. Yeah, I'm to sleep.
I don't think anyone wants to be.

Speaker 5 (27:31):
Damn you seeing with Dante Moore returning to school. The
twenty twenty six NFL Draft is being discussed as a
terrible class. Well, the twenty twenty seven class is being
heralded as a much better class, even outside.

Speaker 1 (27:47):
The quarterback position. Do you think this is true or is.

Speaker 5 (27:50):
It a classic case of people looking ahead to the
next class.

Speaker 1 (27:53):
And over hyping it.

Speaker 4 (27:54):
No.

Speaker 2 (27:54):
I think this is actually true, And part of that
is because this is sort of a gap year for
the NFL.

Speaker 1 (27:58):
Let me explain.

Speaker 2 (27:59):
COVID push people gave him an extra year of eligibility
for free.

Speaker 1 (28:03):
You didn't you have to price, just gave you an
extra year of those ability.

Speaker 2 (28:06):
And so what happens is you had you had holdover
guys in a bunch of different draft classes. Well that ended,
So now you get the gap year in between the
COVID holdouts ending and smoothing back out to the regular
amount of people that would do things. And oh, by
the way, this is not a very good quarterback class
at all, and even the best quarterback in this class
is not considered all that good. So at the end
of the day, I think this is an apparition. Next

(28:27):
year's class does figure to have quite a bit of
talented This is what I talked to somebody I earlier
today who these team was picking in the late teens
early twenties, and they were like, thank god, this is
the worst year to own a top ten draft pick
on record.

Speaker 3 (28:41):
But this is goes back to what I've always said,
I don't subscribe to always putting all your chips on
on a quarter back no matter which players are coming
out at any position every single year, even in the
year like this where we're saying, well, there's not a
big draft class, what's going to dominate the conversation about quarterbacks?
So for me, it's about going out taking the best player.

(29:04):
And if you are a team thinking, okay, well you're
gonna suck in order for you to get to a
guy like Jomtire or arch Manning, then go ahead and try.

Speaker 1 (29:14):
Because here's what we're seeing, as p Carroll, you get
fired after a year.

Speaker 5 (29:19):
With how many quarterback needy teams there are in this
upcoming draft. The Raiders at the top, obviously, but like
you said, there's not many outside Mendoza, and Mendoza.

Speaker 1 (29:28):
Doesn't have a high grid.

Speaker 2 (29:29):
They're like people I've talked to having graded behind what
they had bon Nix and Michael PENNOCKX graded in.

Speaker 5 (29:33):
That class and he's by far QB one. Yeah, he's
the best of this class.

Speaker 1 (29:38):
Yes, I think people say that he doesn't like him.

Speaker 2 (29:41):
Well, I don't have it, and I haven't cracked the
tape on I'm telling you what people who have.

Speaker 5 (29:45):
But I'm saying, even with a low opinion of him,
it seems like the gap between him and like Ty Simpson,
his QB two a very large one.

Speaker 1 (29:52):
Yeah. How high do you think Ty Simpson could go?

Speaker 5 (29:55):
When you look at you know, the Jets at two
needing a quarterback, Cardinals at three needing a quarterback, Browns
at six.

Speaker 2 (30:01):
I think those teams are more likely to trade up
from the second, similar to the Jackson Dart situation, than
to trade back from or take it to.

Speaker 1 (30:08):
It's give me a two or three.

Speaker 5 (30:09):
So you don't think desperation would push Simpson And at
the timely anybody's desperate for Ty Simpson.

Speaker 1 (30:15):
I mean why Simpsons should.

Speaker 3 (30:16):
Have gone and accepted to offer the university to Miami, right,
Hurricanes offered a half million and you.

Speaker 1 (30:22):
Want to jump with it for once six Simpson will
be taken in the first round. I just don't think
it's gonna be early that I bet he will be.

Speaker 2 (30:29):
And here's the thing though, the other part of this is,
and this is what I was trying to say, why
it was so smart for Dante Moore to go back
to school, who, by the way, is going to get
eight and a half million out of Oregon this year?
Is Yeah, I don't, right, So the problem is just said,
you don't.

Speaker 1 (30:44):
You don't have time to develop.

Speaker 2 (30:45):
In the NFL, the coaches, the shelf life on a
coach is so quick they can't afford to develop. If
you can't hit the ground running, you cost a coach
a job. You're not getting to a second contract. Ask
Anthony Richardson, Trey Lance, Zach Wilson about that stuff.

Speaker 5 (30:57):
And Simpson needs that time to develop. The best part
of this film is really exciting. You see some amazing
throws on his tape, but the second.

Speaker 1 (31:04):
Half of the season was ugly.

Speaker 2 (31:06):
The best thing to happen to Tye Simpson would be
if the Rams snapped him up so that he could
sit behind Matt Stafford to write that kind of thing.

Speaker 1 (31:12):
And they got to first. They got that sure first
is a Dylan Mariola.

Speaker 2 (31:18):
He committed to Oregon as well this year and then
you're interested. Yeah, he'll sit behind more.

Speaker 1 (31:22):
And then Neil uh Patrick Mahomes sat for a year two.

Speaker 2 (31:25):
So we'll see, uh see how it goes. But yeah,
it's it's smart for these kids to go back. Now
the script is flipped on quarterbacks. You used to want
to get out early.

Speaker 1 (31:32):
Now you want late. Rock goes Field for tonight back
us I will wememb.

Speaker 4 (31:38):
We're going to find out exactly who's who in the leat.
