Speaker 1 (00:00):
I've six sixty nine zero.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
The text line got a h a bunch.

Speaker 1 (00:05):
Of texts coming in here.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Yes, PS two second Team All Pro by the Associated Press.
Uh it was our broncos MANIAX texting in saying that
Sean Payton better used this to fire patser Tan up
because somehow he's second team All Pro.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
Yeah, that's some bulletin board material.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
But I feel like it'd be more effective if like
Christian Benford made first team All Pro ahead of him
for the Bills. But I'm pretty sure it's like Cooper Jjeene,
Derek Stingley and let's face it, on the last Yeah, stigma,
I get I'm not sure I get it on Degene there.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
I mean you look at the amount of yardage que
On Mitchell. Yeah, that makes sense. I mean will though queen.

Speaker 4 (00:45):
On Mischew has been playing well and PSU missed a
couple of games, And I remember growing up and Dion
Sanders would make All Pro because no one would actually
throw at it, right right, So at first I was
thinking maybe that would be the idea for PS two,
But I don't think that this is something that either

(01:06):
PS two or Coach Payton or even Vance jows that
would use to kind of get PS two going. It
is a game that puts you one step closer to
the Super Bowl in Levi Stadium. If you're not gassed
up or ready to go, and your engines are all
ribbed up, then I don't know what to tell you,
but you don't need something like this to kind of

(01:27):
get him going. He's proven in his career that he
can motivate himself.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Yeah, I don't. I mean, it's just weird to me,
you know, standon miss what three games? I guess the
only thing that Degene really dominated was the tackles, which
is not a stat you want your corner to have.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
I think so Mitchell and Stingley are ahead of him
as quarterbacks.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
I think Degene made it as like the Nickels.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Spot.

Speaker 4 (01:52):
See. That's the only thing that that kind of sucks
about this whole process, even with the Pro Bowl, is
there's all there's so many talented players that are deservant,
but there's so few spots.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
Yeah, well it's something to you know. I mean, maybe
there's a way to get fired up by that. Speaking
of Jean Payton, we always love it when our own
Dave Logan gets to sit down with head coach of
the Denver Bronco Sean Payton and break down a play
from the previous week. And since we didn't have a
game last week, we're going back to the Tyler Bidet
screen pass from a.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
Couple of weeks ago and get a chance to listen
to their thoughts on.

Speaker 5 (02:25):
That Chargers rushed four bowl in the pocket, sets up
the screen on the left side and from a room
for a run out of the twenty out of the
twenty five, he's got.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
The first down. That is a great job by Tyler Badet.

Speaker 5 (02:36):
So, Sean, you guys have utilized the screen game a
lot this year, and I want to ask you, just
generally speaking, what makes some backs better in the screen
game than others.

Speaker 6 (02:47):
Well, I would say patients and a feel, you know.
And so with the day he's got he's your third
down protector. But you know how the rush takes place,
not giving it away. On this play, it's a cross screen,
so he's he's in Queen heading over to King Queen,

(03:07):
meeting away from the tight end. Yeah, he's to the
right of the quarterback. Sometimes a backles screen on that side.
But the thing about this play in our third down
meeting at the end of the night, we were third
and long and we were seeing these you know, these
obviously tough defenses to convert, and we decided we saw
a pass pattern several times, and we decided, let's just

(03:31):
run the pass pattern veil, all right, rather than assign
blocking assignments, and let's have them run veil and then
cross screen left and sure enough, you know, they drop
into their the coverage zones and the timing of the
screen has to be a little slower than so what

(03:54):
we want is them to cover voided routes. And then
it was veil screen left stage and I'll be darned,
you know, because there's some times where you may just
when you call a play like that, want to just
change field position. Be smart. You know, there's times where
you're going to be more aggressive on a third and long,
and then there's other times where you know, early in

(04:15):
a game on your end, you know, by calling the pattern,
you've got the receivers running air speed, reacting their full
speed on veil and then screen left to h and
then we felt there would be two left to block
ex sure enough. It I'm glad we didn't run veil.
I'm glad we ran the screen. Yeah, well, yeah, shout,

(04:40):
thanks for the yeah, thank you.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
Now, that's gonna be very interesting to see if.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
We see more swing routes and more screenplays from the
Denver Broncos in this game. Because last week, even well
last week, the last game we saw the Broncos playing
the Chargers, we did see Marvin Mims in the as
though we've seen him several times this season when when
he's been developed.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
Yeah, I don't think you're gonna see as many wide
receiver screed.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
You don't want to throw wide receiver screens into his own, right,
Like if they're playing Tampa two with the low corner zone,
you don't want to throw screens in his own.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (05:13):
But with the swing route though, the idea is that right,
because we've seen the Broncos line up with either receiver
or tied end to decide they want to go to
and either Marvin Mams or put whatever running back.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
In the position you're going to motion him, you know, post.

Speaker 4 (05:31):
Nap, and you're going to throw it to him on
a swing pass because that's just like you know, a
street basically west of what it is, so you you
do it with two blockers in front of it.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
Yeah, and I'm not a post to that.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
We've seen a couple of those, you know, mountaineer orbit,
you know kind of plays.

Speaker 4 (05:47):
I say, let me back up for I wasn't saying
that because I love that play.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
No, I don't like it at all.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
I mean, when you line him off the backfeld, you
know what you're doing, so you know what you're doing.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
But yeah, I mean I wouldn't.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Mind seeing you know, if you want to throw one
of those, fine, it's you know, I'm not a pose.
I just you know, for me looking at this thing,
and as we get down to it here, you know,
final thoughts before we we we put this thing to
bed before tomorrow, uh and get to the NFL six pack. I.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
We have to run the ball. You run the ball
to the end.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
You you combo block the defensive ends, uh and and
whatever tackle that you're that you're running to h and
you pull the backside guard and that's this is just
how you this is what you do. And then your
running backs got you know, got two holes. He's running
off the off the we'll call it the cheek of
your uh, your offensive tackle there and wherever they're right

(06:41):
wherever the wherever the the hole opens up with that's
to the left of the right, that's where you go.
I mean, it's not it's not rocket surgery. Uh as,
uh as. People like to mix your metaphors.

Speaker 7 (06:50):
But I mean, my my faith in the Broncos to
stick with that even if they get down you know,
if points, you get down, a touchdown, you get down ten.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
Points and then still should stick with that. My faith
in them to do so is not very high.

Speaker 4 (07:08):
Just when I thought your faith was just getting a
bump up, like we were getting like five points up
like the stock market.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
Yeah, now you crash and burn and take us down.
That's it.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
I'm just telling you where I land. I think the
Broncos can win. I think there is a blue there is.
I think there's a definitive blueprint to win. I think
there is a definitive blueprint about definitive path the Broncos.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
Can can follow to win here and that pad they
will follow it.

Speaker 4 (07:35):
And that path starts with not just running the ball.
Then run the ball, stop the ball, stop the run.
But it's not just for me. It's not just running
the ball. We've seen the Broncos run the ball.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
I mean RJ. Harvey of the gaps with RJ Harvey
for fifteen carries.

Speaker 4 (07:50):
He had fifteen carries for twenty six yards and the
average one point nine and carre right, And there were
fans talking about RJ Harvey and I'm like, man, that
wasn't all his faults. I mean, you have to set
him up to succeed. That's what you have to do
as a coach. Put your players in advantageous positions. Never
put them in a spot where you know it is

(08:11):
not the best for them. So run the ball, yes,
but be more strategical purpose with how you run it. Yes,
run with the efficiency, run with intent.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
Right right, That's what you need to do.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
There has only been two games this season where Arjie
Harvey's got double digit carries and averaged over four per carry,
and it was against the Raiders and the Bengals. I mean,
you know, like, I don't know what to do with
that at that point, Like the rest of the rest
of these games have not been great. Fifteen for twenty
eight against La Charge. We all know about the one

(08:47):
point nine to carry there, the overtime game against Washington
thirteen for thirty five, it's two point seven to carry.
You had the Kansas City game in November eleven carries
for thirty yards, another two point seven per carry day
the other Kansas City game fourteen.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
For forty three to three point one. It's just it's not,
you know, the volume.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
The only time he's got is when he's busted one
against bad teams.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
See, here's what you're talking about.

Speaker 4 (09:11):
See, I love to give names to a particular schemes
that you can run because I think that's a I
think that's awesome to do. So how about this for
the Broncos run game, right, why don't we give it
a little a little twists with little Chris and we
call it move Get out the way, Get out the way,
Just get off the way, because we need those big

(09:33):
guys up front to create some staggered and some separation
on that front line to allow the running back to
see vision, to see daylight. It can't be jam packed
in there. You gotta latch onto a guy and drive
him out of the hole. And who this game comes
down to turnovers, right, penalties.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
And who controls the damn line of scrimmage.

Speaker 4 (09:59):
So the Broncos, as they've been having issues running the ball,
it hasn't been solely because the running backs can't see,
they lack vision, or they like bursts.

Speaker 1 (10:11):
You need to move another man off his spots.

Speaker 4 (10:14):
We're talking about stay tight on this bend.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
We need dus beating up dudes. You're saying you need
dudes on dudes. Yes, we need dudes on.

Speaker 4 (10:24):
Dudes driving them off the freaking ball.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
And my problem with Daddy is saying, yes, you do
need that.

Speaker 2 (10:28):
My problem with that is just that guys like JK
Dobbins were figuring out where to go with the ball
and averaging five of carry this line didn't forget how
to block when RJ got back there because Jaliel and
JK Dobbins are averaging over five a carry.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
Yeah, but okay, you don't have JK.

Speaker 4 (10:39):
And JK was really patient, and one could even say
that in certain instances, JK was making the offensive line
jobs easier because he was being patient and he was
finding the hole.

Speaker 2 (10:52):
That's what I think Harvey needs to do because he's
not been particularly but we see him looking there and
then just picking the wrong place to go or bouncing
it outside in situations where he doesn't.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
Need to do that. Because this is the thing that
happens with young backs.

Speaker 4 (11:05):
Inexperience, well not just in experience, is that they're used
to getting the ball, getting it a gold.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
Yeah, I need you to move, but that's what.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
The right Jaliel's got the patience and understands that it's
not just get ball, run one hundred percent. It's not
mash the R two button on Madden and get to
the outside right.

Speaker 4 (11:22):
It's not just turn out like.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
There is a patience to it.

Speaker 2 (11:27):
Let the blocks set up and then find the hole
and be creative with you're pathing behind that Jalil does
that hasn't learned it yet and it's not to say
he won't, but he's not there yet.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
Okay, no, he he's not there yet.

Speaker 4 (11:40):
There's still certain skills set to him that is unique
to Jelan McLoughlin because he's been in the scheme, so
he knows how to be a little patient and also
he is more on the smaller side of the backs
as far as being having power. He has more speed
than r J. Harvey, so that's why he's picking. He's
choosing his the whole that he hits. But r J

(12:01):
wants to get down here right away. And this is
why always felt as though is in comment upon the
offensive line and the coaching on the officsitive line to
to kind of preach to them understand.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
What's back is in the game. And this is why
I think it's all important.

Speaker 4 (12:14):
And we hadn't really seen it all season along where
we see it the shuffling of running backs. The bats
can't get into the rhythm, the lineman can't get into
a rhythm, so it disrupts the.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
Foe of the run get It's an archaic way of
doing personnel, and that's something we've I've been sitting here,
you know, you know whatting about female dogging about for
you for three years since he's been here. It's like
the personnel rotations, like they don't make sense. Honestly, it's
an archaic way of doing things, and that's something he
should have just one rather than putting the team in
a bind.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
With continuing to do that.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
Unfortunately, at this point we know Sean Payton is what
he is, right and so the DNA is there.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
How can we get situated?

Speaker 2 (12:52):
Do we just give the ball to McLoughlin more, you know, like,
what is the what is the tempt solution there? Because
Champagne is not going to change DNA yeah, you give
it to them.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
You start off this game with Jelil McLoughlin.

Speaker 4 (13:05):
See if he can set the tempo, set the pace,
give you an idea of where you can attack the
Buffalo Bills.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
What's their course of attack is that?

Speaker 4 (13:15):
Well to try to do what the Jags did last
week with Travis etn and get on the perimeter and
run right.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
And for me, if I was running back, I want
to get outside because there's less people outside.

Speaker 4 (13:27):
Yeah right, and there's less people that I have to
contind with to move the ball down the field.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
So so less big people outside too. You want corners
trying to tack at more than the linebackers. And you
know Dale Walker who's six what sixty six threety pounds
or whatever.

Speaker 4 (13:41):
Yeah, because ideas that you want to put your best
player against their best player, and you say, well, you
know what, my best player beats yours every single day.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
I want to put my best player in their weakest
player and say we're definitely going to beat you.

Speaker 4 (13:54):
That's why you run outside, pull your guards, do whatever
you And even the same thing rule applies with both
move in the pocket, get guys out front of him.
Because it's been proven that. Yeah, he could throw from
the pocket, but once again, less guys outfiel outside the
tackle box, and you can get guys on the.

Speaker 1 (14:13):
Move and that moves the zones.

Speaker 2 (14:15):
Yeah, there's just there's several things here that I think,
you know, we got to get Mims going vertically.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
They haven't done that all year.

Speaker 2 (14:24):
Martin mimsays basically the same number of targets as Pat
Bryant and six more catches than you know. But again
they just pepper him with screens. They don't they don't
hit him on the vertical stuff. And that's the guy
who could have run under the ball and caught it
when some of those balls wanted long to some of
those other players.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
So there's more to it than that.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
We got to run, we gotta get We'll see, we'll
see what they're able to put together for this thing.
And you know, who knows, Maybe we're sitting here on
Monday when laughing about my concerns and.

Speaker 1 (14:46):
Being like, you know what, it was an idiot. He
was over concerned about this stuff. And we find a
way to do it anyway, fol six pack, we've come back.
We need news on duves. Are you gonna like hold
me in a certain position. Not going to say I've
never sat on his lap, not going to say that.

Speaker 2 (15:05):
Here's the text line seven to osa is Sean has
the old bounties set for tomorrow on the first Buffalo drive,
Broncos defense need to commit a personal foul destroy Josh
Allen shut the tone.

Speaker 1 (15:17):
Oh stop, he said, uh yeah, call us the Bronco
and the Denver Boba FETs.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
I'll say, I do want to be physical, you know,
don't let them. That's gonna be a lot of quick passing.
As we discussed. I think the best way for this
defense to eliminate some of that is is punished these
receivers at the touch point.

Speaker 2 (15:35):
Yeah, I think I I yeah, I mean you want
to you do want to be physical, not to the
point where uh that to the point where it where
it you know, affects.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
Your You created Kevin James the movie.

Speaker 2 (15:46):
Yeah right, that's as cover. You created Kevin James to
whitewash your reputation.

Speaker 1 (15:50):
Hey, we've already we've seen that movie. We're not going backwards.
We're going forward.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
Bills this year, by the way, one and five, when
Josh Allen gets hit six or more time in a game, HM,
just put it out.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
There was that legally or it sounds like some belief
that's a dropback, it's not a rush.

Speaker 2 (16:09):
One in five when Josh Allen has hit six or
more times on dropbacks, you're welcome for that.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
Let's get the flow six pack. It's time for the
NFL six.

Speaker 6 (16:18):
I'm gonna tread the last year insight and insight information
you can't find anywhere else.

Speaker 1 (16:23):
I know the top six NFL headline?

Speaker 3 (16:28):
What starting off here with Ben Johnson, who ruffled some
feathers this past week with his comments about the Packers
and his awkwardly quick post game handshake with Matt Lafleur.
Lafleur's brother, notably, My Lafour's brother, Mike notably, is the
offensive coordinator on the Rams staff. What do you make

(16:48):
of the burgeoning rivalry between Johnson and Lafloor and do
you think the Rams will get revenge for Matt Laflour.

Speaker 2 (16:55):
I don't think it'll be a question of getting revenge
as far as that goes. I do believe the Rams
will win that game. Will see, but I don't think
it's a revenge type deal.

Speaker 3 (17:03):
I think it's They did have a spicy answer about
it this week when asked Sean mcvahn a spicy against Yeah,
I asked them about it, and he was like, we're
gonna watch the film and take note of everything and
you know, be ready to play the game.

Speaker 4 (17:13):
It was.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
It was a little wink wink, Nutch nuts. Okay, all right.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
Well, I mean, I'm all for injecting some some blood
into the rivalry that's been pretty one sided as far
as that goes. I just I mean, I'm also a
person that it's funny that I'm saying this, Like I
don't want coaches antagonizing other coaches.

Speaker 1 (17:28):
Like, I'm all for the antagonization.

Speaker 2 (17:30):
On the fields, but don't don't be the coach doing it.

Speaker 1 (17:34):
I disagree. I love this.

Speaker 3 (17:35):
I love the Pete Carroll Jim Rbo messiness. Nick, are
you with me orre you with fun on that? I
am gonna be with you on this one. I like
that bitter rival.

Speaker 4 (17:46):
And it helps spark this whole rivalry between the Packers
and the Bears is a story tradition. Well, here's the
other thing you mentioned. Mike Lafleur, Matt's brother who works
with the Rams. Right, Sam McDade worked with him in Washington,
So Yeah, you want to get a little get back
if you can for.

Speaker 1 (18:06):
You boy, so sign me up for Okay.

Speaker 2 (18:09):
Well, then, in the reason that I say this is
this leans back to the last time that we saw
somebody injecting some heat into the rivalry when Sean Payton
decided to say that Nate Hackett was the worst coach
of all time and then proceed to lose to him
immediately following that and watch everyone in Nate Hackett's buddies
celebrated on Twitter.

Speaker 3 (18:26):
Yeah, and of course we had the seventy to twenty game.
But that's honestly what I was thinking of with this question.
We saw Mike mcdaniel'll get a little extra motivation for that.

Speaker 1 (18:35):
Situation one fans you on that phone. And Fangiel, the
defensive coordinator for the Dolphins that year, Yes he was, Yes,
it was both of them.

Speaker 3 (18:44):
Next two, Nico Collins is out for this weekend's matchup
between the Houston Texans and New England Patriots, while Christian
Gonzalez is questionable to play as he's battling back from
a concussion. Collins is also out with a concussion.

Speaker 1 (19:00):
For what it's worth, do.

Speaker 3 (19:01):
You think Christian Gonzalez will play for the Patriots on Sunday,
And if he doesn't, will Collins or Gonzalez be the
more costly absence?

Speaker 2 (19:11):
I think, well, that's tough, man, because I think the
Detexans have guys that can step up. I think Gonzales
just the more impactful absence of the two.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
Oh, that's a good question. I don't know.

Speaker 4 (19:25):
I think it's gonna be Christian Gonzalez because he is
a keycock for the Mike Brabeu defense. Yeah, you miss
Nico Collins, but just like you said, Ben, they still
have some young wide receivers. But being able to defend
those guys it's the most important thing because you allow
your defense up front to get out to the quarterback.
So it would be Christian mc gonzalez would be the

(19:46):
guy that's missed.

Speaker 1 (19:47):
I think I would agree.

Speaker 3 (19:48):
You know, one of the calling cards of the Patriots
defense is we've got two big, tough, physical corners on
the outside who are great in man coverage, Carlton Davis
and Christian Gonzalez. You lose one of those and that
kind of takes away your defensive trademark.

Speaker 1 (20:02):
Yeah, I think I have to go with that.

Speaker 2 (20:04):
It's tough because Collins is a big part of what
they do on offense, but they've got guys that have
stepped up into that rule all year. I'm with you,
Ash Gonzales three.

Speaker 3 (20:13):
Next up here, we got Fred Warner working his way
back for missing multiple months with injury.

Speaker 1 (20:19):
That said, he's not expected to return in time.

Speaker 3 (20:21):
For this weekndst Divisional Round matchup with the Seattle Seahawks.
If the forty nine Ers win, do you think we
would see Fred Warner suit up for San Francisco next week?
And if he does return, what version of Fred Warner do.

Speaker 1 (20:35):
You think we'll see? Will it be best linebacker in
the league.

Speaker 3 (20:38):
Fred Warner or maybe a diminished version. Yeah, we're not
gonna see Fred Warner this week.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
And that's probably the most disappointing thing to come out
of Warner since Joss Whedon took over zext Nyder's Justice League.

Speaker 1 (20:51):
But there's the first one for the Nerds.

Speaker 2 (20:53):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (20:54):
But end of the day, Yeah, he'll probably be back
next week. You know. It's just one of those things
where he was close, not quite not quite there. Yeah,
I think he.

Speaker 4 (21:02):
Comes back May after being out and watching your team
try to fight and scrape for wins and getting this
far without you, You're not gonna turn it down. And no,
Fred Wanner, He's not gonna turn it down. He's gonna
fight mcclaw for every opportunity to get back there on
the field. And if it happens, it would be at
the right time.

Speaker 1 (21:21):
For this forty nine Ers. No, as though he lost
one of the key cogs and George Kittle.

Speaker 3 (21:27):
Yeah, I hope we get to see Fred Warner come
back this season.

Speaker 1 (21:30):
I think it'd be so amazing. This forty nine Ers
run has been so incredible.

Speaker 3 (21:34):
I remember when Warner went out against the Buccaneers and
everyone understandably wrote them off.

Speaker 1 (21:39):
They had already lost.

Speaker 3 (21:40):
Bosa for the season, a few offensive pieces for the season,
and then Lozie and.

Speaker 1 (21:44):
Warner felt like the last straw.

Speaker 3 (21:47):
Here they are, you know, in the final four of
the NFC, with the potential to get even further.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
Five four, last cut back.

Speaker 4 (22:00):
Drinking that beer man, Hey, I know it's Friday night,
but slow down when you're chugging them.

Speaker 3 (22:05):
The Bronxcis are surprisingly activating Elijah Moore and rookie tight
end Caleb Loner for this weekend's playoff game. Why do
you think they're activating more and Loaner and what are
your expectations.

Speaker 1 (22:16):
For them in this game.

Speaker 2 (22:18):
I went back and forth with this because I'm like,
all right, on the one hand, like you wouldn't activate
people for a playoff game that you are you.

Speaker 1 (22:23):
Aren't going to use. And then I remember just last
year when they dictated off.

Speaker 2 (22:26):
Their estimated and Tyler Bday to get like two carries
and didn' didn't do anything. I imagine they've got some
play for Loaner, like some some red zone play, you know,
for him, and that that would be the way we'd
see him. For Elijah Moore, I wouldn't.

Speaker 1 (22:40):
Be surprised if he got a few snaps.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
You know, he knows the Bills, he knows their defense,
he knows their offense from having been there. I would
not be surprised to see him get a few snaps
and eat into Troy Franklin's work.

Speaker 4 (22:52):
Yeah, when you bring it to guys up like this,
you have to have some something.

Speaker 1 (22:56):
In the bag.

Speaker 4 (22:56):
And that's where we were told after the Charges game
that the Ronco's offense was being sort of vanilla for
moments like this, but it was preparing to face the Chargers,
not the Buffalo Bills. So let's just see what happens
with Elijah Moore and Loner because once again, from a
tight end standpoint, you've had on the tight ends up
and you've had you know, Evan Ingram's all season long.

Speaker 1 (23:18):
Are you gonna take targets away from him? I don't
think so.

Speaker 2 (23:23):
This feels like some kind of like third down I've
got a guy that's six foot seven and can jump
like he's on a pogo stick kind of throw the
ball up scenario.

Speaker 3 (23:29):
I'm sure they've got some special designer play for him
and if it cashes in, whether it's a big third
down conversion or.

Speaker 1 (23:35):
Some you know, red zone score.

Speaker 3 (23:38):
I'm so excited to see Caleb Loaner go from like
the forgotten pick in this draft class to you know,
everyone's favorite pick for making a critical play in a
playoff game for the Broncos.

Speaker 1 (23:50):
And he's one of the few guys that could do this.

Speaker 2 (23:51):
I need him to go shack dunk on the goalpost
two hands. You know how guys like lay the ball
up or I need the two No, I need him
to two handed called the crossbark.

Speaker 1 (24:00):
He's one of the few guys that could actually do it, So.

Speaker 3 (24:03):
I need that someone needs to cover that fine.

Speaker 2 (24:06):
For the rule, take the penalties, hate the find I
need a two headed Shaquille O'Neill goal post rattling jam
for a for silver.

Speaker 4 (24:13):
And least tells us there's gonna be possibility of one
trick play in the games.

Speaker 1 (24:18):
Oh my god, at least second one. It'll be something
I already hate myself.

Speaker 3 (24:27):
Five on the other side of the ball in this one,
the Bills are activating Ed Oliver and Curtis Samuel ahead
of this matchup with the Broncos. How impactful do you
think the returns of Oliver and Samuel will be and
which of those two will be more impactful in this matchup?

Speaker 2 (24:45):
Well, Samuel was the guy last year that said I
think he's just a body in the room at this
point where they need bodies, I mean they don't.

Speaker 1 (24:52):
They just don't have anybody healthy the Bills.

Speaker 2 (24:54):
The Bill's depth charted that wide receivers is hilariously thin.

Speaker 4 (24:59):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (25:00):
You've got obviously Khalil secure the slot.

Speaker 2 (25:02):
But Brandy Cook's, Curtis Samuel and Keon Coleman and mcole Harvin.
That's all five bodies. Two of those guys came up
from the practice squad. That's all five bodies they have
at wide receiver. Somebody gets hurt there in real trouble
there the other side of this and Oliver, that's the
interesting one to me, how healthy is he?

Speaker 1 (25:15):
How ready to go?

Speaker 2 (25:16):
Because you pair him with dayone walker in the middle
there man, that is a that is a run stuffing
duo in the middle, and Oliver can get after the
passer as well. That's one of those things that I'm
a little more concerned. You know, I don't know what
the overall health of that Oliver is, but I'm more
concerned with him than I am Curtise Samuel, Yeah.

Speaker 4 (25:32):
I would say the same thing because we know that
the Buffalo Bills are bringing in the number one passing
defense and the Broncos want to run the ball. They
need to run the ball because the Bills have shown
us though they're not that great against the run.

Speaker 1 (25:44):
And maybe a lot of that had to do with
and Oliver not being in the mix. But with him
in the mix, it makes things more difficult.

Speaker 4 (25:51):
But the question becomes how long or how well would
that bicep actually hold up for him?

Speaker 1 (25:56):
How well will the bis pulled up?

Speaker 3 (25:58):
And also, you know we often see players their first
game back after these multi month absences. Look, you know,
maybe I don't want to say out of shape, their
world class athletes, but you know, like they have to
play themselves back into their prime caliber level. I think
we will see that Oliver get winded in this one,
especially because he's going to be playing at altitude for
that first game.

Speaker 2 (26:17):
Yeah, I wonder if you won't be on a pitch count,
you know, as far as that goes, we'll see six.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
The College Football Playoff National Championship Game kicks off before
the next edition of Broncos Country tonight. That'll be five
thirty Mountain time here on Monday. Who are you picking
in the National Championship game between.

Speaker 1 (26:40):
Indiana and Miami and what are your expectations for the game.
I'm taking Indiana. My expectations are that.

Speaker 2 (26:49):
You'll see a few more points in this one. I
do believe in the over here, but I'm on Indiana
in this one. I think they are just a team
of destiny. And what car Signetti has done there by
bringing in older guys that happen to fit what they're
trying to do and everything, I think it's just been smart.
Love what Miami did this year. But I think at
the end of the day, Indiana's defense is going to

(27:09):
be too much for Carson Beck, and I think that's
the matchup that Miami's going to have to get the
run game going in order to beat Indiana.

Speaker 4 (27:14):
I'm going to go with University of Miami because Miami
Hurricanes are proven that they can run the ball. Fletcher
last time he touched the ball, I think he had
like one hundred and thirty three yards. I mean, that's
driving him out football like right there, and you're taking
the ball.

Speaker 1 (27:31):
Out of Carson Bek's hand.

Speaker 4 (27:33):
That's what you want to do, because if the ball
is in his hands and now Indiana forces.

Speaker 1 (27:37):
Him into some tight situations, he.

Speaker 4 (27:39):
Might turn it over and that could be the issue
for Mario Chris Ball and the Hurricanes.

Speaker 1 (27:46):
I'm taking Indiana in this one.

Speaker 3 (27:48):
I think Indiana, all said and done, might be the
greatest college football team ever. If they win this game,
they'll be the first sixteen and oh. I'm not talking
about NFL talent, No. Sixteen and oh team ever. They
already through fifteen games, have the best scoring differential in
college football history, and through the college footballlayoff.

Speaker 1 (28:05):
We'll see how the Miami game goes.

Speaker 3 (28:06):
They absolutely obliterated Miami or Alabama excuse me, beating him
by thirty five points and then they dismantled their next opponent.

Speaker 2 (28:13):
Yeah, Miami said, the Oregon win was more impressive to me.
Alabama's not what.

Speaker 1 (28:16):
They used to be. Miami got robbed in the Ohio State.

Speaker 2 (28:19):
You know't what to talking about the neat h tob
And remember that when that was the the You documentary. Yes,
I'm like, man, I was, I was watching that live
as it happened, and they got jobbed in that game.

Speaker 1 (28:31):
But that that team.

Speaker 2 (28:32):
Was like just incredibly impressive overall. That's one of the
best teams ever. There's a couple of Bama teams I've
seen that Miami team that were just I mean, you
were like, these guys they could they could theoretically go
in and maybe win a game if they played.

Speaker 1 (28:43):
An NFL schedule. As far as twenty nineteen, LSU gets
hyped up.

Speaker 2 (28:47):
Yeah, the the Hoosiers are number five against the run
in college football this year, number.

Speaker 1 (28:51):
Five against the run. They only allowed seventy five yards
the game.

Speaker 2 (28:54):
So it's gonna be that's gonna be a thing with
Miami trying to get the run game going against that defense.
I thinks is not going to have the greatest game.
I think there's potential for turnovers here. I don't think
he's played a defense like what Miami brings all year.

Speaker 4 (29:06):
Yeah, because you think about go back to the Ohio
State game. Neither of those quarterbacks play well for either team.
And this was right before the votes had to be
cash for the Heisman Trophy. And when you think about
Ruben Bain Junior and Mesador and the way they come
off of the edge and the way they play that

(29:26):
physical style of football, It's going to be interesting because
both of.

Speaker 1 (29:30):
These teams have coaches.

Speaker 4 (29:33):
With tied to Nick Saban and they have all been
coached to play hard, nos aggressive, physical and dare I
say ben.

Speaker 1 (29:43):
Down here football? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (29:45):
Right, So this is gonna be a physical game. This
is a game where it's gonna be bloody noses. Someone's
gonna get that smooth knocked out metaphorically speaking. But this
is the type of National Championship game that we've been
waiting for for years.

Speaker 1 (29:58):
Yeah, the right teams are in there. You know.

Speaker 2 (30:01):
I don't think there's anybody that I would rather have
seen as far as that goes, I would have rather
seen Texas Tech than Oregon, except that their offense sucked
out loud if they could have gotten anything out of
offense from Texas Tech, their defense was so good I
wanted to see them up against Indiana. But for the
championship game, I think the right two teams are in there.
I mean, you could make.

Speaker 3 (30:18):
An argument for Georgia, but otherwise, I think the right
two teams are in there. That's the thing with this
new tournament. It feels like you got the right teams.

Speaker 1 (30:26):
You know.

Speaker 3 (30:26):
I would have thought Ohio State, you know, is maybe
deserving never rematch with Indiana.

Speaker 1 (30:30):
But who who whooped up on Ohio State Miami? So
it it feels like it all worked.

Speaker 2 (30:34):
Out pretty fairly. Yeah, I'm looking forward to that one.
That's gonna be a good matchup. I think it could
be a good game. I don't think it'll be a blowout.
Like I knew I thought Indiana.

Speaker 1 (30:41):
I didn't know.

Speaker 2 (30:42):
I thought Indiana was gonna blow out Oregon and they did.
I did not think that. Yeah, I do not think
that Indiana's gonna blow out Miami.

Speaker 3 (30:48):
Does Miami's success kind of end the Notre Dame criticism
or controversity in your should have never been a controversy.

Speaker 1 (30:55):
There were like five teams that should have got in
ahead a Notre Dame. Want to have that conversation moren
that if they are ranked in the top twelve they
get in. Is this like stupid? I mean, come on, man,
s what do we do all that one and Bobby
making exceptions for one school?

Speaker 4 (31:09):
Yeah, but also should later rest all of the negative
talk about the ACC because they were the only My
University of Mindment is the only ACC team and everyone's
making those complaints talking about, you know, Notre Dame. But
they went on a row and they show that they
can win the games against the SEC. And they just
have a tall task on Monday night at home, which

(31:31):
is one of the reasons why I'm giving them the advantage.

Speaker 2 (31:33):
Currently, Indiana at eight and a half point favorite, seventy
one percent of bets on Indiana over under at forty
seven and a half, eighty three percent of bets on
the over the Monday line eighty percent on Indiana, So
most four out of five believe it's going to be Indiana.
We'll see how that shakes out. Broncos Country Night back
