of the year and his athleticism is off the charts.
He seems like a good young guy. I was a
little surprised to see him go after Cameron Boozer and
also the Syracuse or sorry, the Illinois guard Wagler. Yeah,
he's got a lot of weight to put on. He's
a very, very talented player. But he's someone who I
could see in the G League for maybe a couple

of years before he makes an impact at the NBA level.

I don't know if that's the routes will go with it.

You're getting a great athlete who needs to improve the
technical aspects of his game, and so it's just six

Uh with with Chiago Splitter, I think you take uh
in the bowls. You're happy about that because you you'll
take advantages. You'll you'll take advantage of that. You'll be
a guy who with draft guys that you can turn
into what you want. I'm a big fan Theugo Splitter
as a coach, by the way.

Yeah, the situation that he went into and Portland this
past year and made them relevant in a playoff team. Like,
I think they're getting a great head coach and a
former player who's just a couple of years out of
the league that can relate to these guys still.

They got Dylan Swain out of Texas a little bit
later as wells who's kind of a play a sniper
for the win, you know, and so that that's one

Pick that really surprised me, and this is one of
my favorite college basketball players, Alex Caraban going in the
first round. Yeah, he does not like like I said,
loved him as a college player, two time national champion
at yukon everything you want for your program, but he
just is not very athletic and he's so spotty, Like

he put up great numbers from three point line, but
there were certain games where he could hit the broadside
of a barn. So we'll see how his game translates
to the NBA. We know he's got that winning DNA
built into him, but I don't know how much that
matters at the NBA level.

Yeah, this is another like the Kings. This just felt
a little weird.

You know, he's a guy who's, you know, the high
basketball IQ guy, but not really much on the athleticism
and all that.

Burry's the guard from Arizona who is an absolute stud.
And Nate a Mint who's from Tennessee. Had some injury
issues this last year at college, but he's got all

the upside in the world and looks like a pure
at the NBA level. So I think if you're a
Bucks fan, you know it sucks right now because you're
losing an all time great and Yannis, but their future
looks bright with with what the pieces they've added, including
Tyler Hero and Haimi Hakkez from the Heat and the
initial trade and then these two draft picks. I think
you got to be feeling a little bit better about

that trade as a Bucks fan a few days later
after it happened.

Yeah, they need they'll need Burris to come on quick.
I mean, he's the oldest freshman you know on there
and really not He's not really a point guard. He's
more of a cobble guard, so the position will be

and then went yesterday on my day off, washing them

After the game, we were walking in the concourse level
as we were exiting Corse Field and there was a
loud Rockies chant going around the concourse, which I haven't
heard in a number of years.

Fair like it was probably majority Red Sox fans at
both those games.

I was at for that series.

But it was it was the energy was palpable of
how like Rockies fans are ready to be excited again,

product on the field and winning games like you said
that they should, and then they're back to being a
five hundred team and then you never know what happens
from there because the baseball is so up and down.
You look at the standings across the league, there's three

or four teams that stand out above everyone else who
are ten fifteen games above five hundred. Everyone else is
kind of just stuck in the middle there. And if
the Rockies can get back to that middle, then you're
only a couple winning streaks away from being a wildcard team.

And that's how the rebuild has to take place.

Yeah, I believe if they beat the Twins on Friday tomorrow.
I believe if they win, that their five hundred for

keep plugging away and making it work.

That's the thing with him, is like he has moments
where you're like, Okay, I get why the Rockies paid

him all this money, and then there's game stretches of
games where he doesn't get a hit and you're like,
what are we doing here? So I think Kerek is
going to be a staple of the the Rockies team
going forward, whether it's in the infield or the outfield.
But hopefully Tovar can turn things around because he is
a hell of a defensive shortstop.

conundrum because Tovar his batting average is dropped by about

plus points just this past year. So I like that

utility guy that, like you said, will be playing defense
a lot hopefully.

Yeah, I think the thing about what he can do
is he's quick enough that he can actually play defense
against the three, but he's really you know, it'll mostly
be defending out of the four, but he could defend

into something more.

And I'll be honest, I don't know much about Bryce Hopkins,
the Saint John's forward that they drafted with the forty
ninth overall pick. I watched some Saint John's games, but

of the year and his athleticism is off the charts.
He seems like a good young guy. I was a
little surprised to see him go after Cameron Boozer and
also the Syracuse or sorry, the Illinois guard Wagler. Yeah,
he's got a lot of weight to put on. He's
a very, very talented player. But he's someone who I
could see in the G League for maybe a couple

of years before he makes an impact at the NBA level.

I don't know if that's the routes will go with it.

With Wilson, I think the thing is mostly that he's
not the world's greatest shooter from the perimeter.

But neither is Boozer.

or the other with With with Boozer, you're getting more
of Uh. Yeah, he's a sharp he's a smart, high
basketball like Q guy, but he's he's really a technical

basketball player, whereas you know, who needs to improve in
the athleticism.

With with Wilson, you're getting the opposite.

You're getting a great athlete who needs to improve the
technical aspects of his game, and so it's just six
and one a half to whatever you're looking for there.
Uh with with Chiago Splitter, I think you take uh
in the bowls. You're happy about that because you you'll
take advantages. You'll you'll take advantage of that. You'll be
a guy who with draft guys that you can turn
into what you want. I'm a big fan Theugo Splitter
as a coach, by the way.

Yeah, the situation that he went into and Portland this
past year and made them relevant in a playoff team. Like,
I think they're getting a great head coach and a
former player who's just a couple of years out of
the league that can relate to these guys still.

I like their draft.

They got Dylan Swain out of Texas a little bit
later as wells who's kind of a play a sniper
for the win, you know, and so that that's one
of those things I think they I like the draft

Pick that really surprised me, and this is one of
my favorite college basketball players, Alex Caraban going in the
first round. Yeah, he does not like like I said,
loved him as a college player, two time national champion
at yukon everything you want for your program, but he

he put up great numbers from three point line, but
there were certain games where he could hit the broadside
of a barn. So we'll see how his game translates
to the NBA. We know he's got that winning DNA
built into him, but I don't know how much that
matters at the NBA level.

a little weird.

You know, he's a guy who's, you know, the high
basketball IQ guy, but not really much on the athleticism

issues this last year at college, but he's got all

the upside in the world and looks like a pure
at the NBA level. So I think if you're a
Bucks fan, you know it sucks right now because you're
losing an all time great and Yannis, but their future
looks bright with with what the pieces they've added, including
Tyler Hero and Haimi Hakkez from the Heat and the
initial trade and then these two draft picks. I think
you got to be feeling a little bit better about

that trade as a Bucks fan a few days later
after it happened.

After the game, we were walking in the concourse level
as we were exiting Corse Field and there was a
loud Rockies chant going around the concourse, which I haven't
heard in a number of years.

both those games.

I was at for that series.

But it was it was the energy was palpable of

product on the field and winning games like you said
that they should, and then they're back to being a
five hundred team and then you never know what happens
from there because the baseball is so up and down.
You look at the standings across the league, there's three

or four teams that stand out above everyone else who
are ten fifteen games above five hundred. Everyone else is
kind of just stuck in the middle there. And if
the Rockies can get back to that middle, then you're
only a couple winning streaks away from being a wildcard team.

continues to struggle and you can move him on. But
I think Tovar's got so much potential to you just
how long do you wait for it to come to fruition.
That's the thing with him, is like he has moments
where you're like, Okay, I get why the Rockies paid

him all this money, and then there's game stretches of
games where he doesn't get a hit and you're like,
what are we doing here? So I think Kerek is
going to be a staple of the the Rockies team
going forward, whether it's in the infield or the outfield.
But hopefully Tovar can turn things around because he is
a hell of a defensive shortstop.

Ball, yeah, And then that's sort of it's an interesting
conundrum because Tovar his batting average is dropped by about
fifty or fifty points, but he's slugging percentages gone up
by seventy points.

He's hitting the ball with more power as he's getting
a little bit older and getting a little more strength
in there, but just not quite you know, not quite

I did see that happen in real time and I
was like, what, this guy didn't do anything?

Yeah he uh yeah, No, the broadcaster got his credential revoked.
That's that's something I I mean, I didn't think it
was all that bad. I mean, there was two things,
you know, he let an f bomb slide and called
them sons of female dogs. But other than that, I mean,
it wasn't It wasn't like it was something that went

on for an extended period of time. Yeah, I mean,
I think.

It just makes me think of, like, well, hopefully the
Broncos don't listen too closely to this show, because you're
gonna get your credentials revokes for sure.

was in the middle of the day and I was
watching it and one of our other studios prepping for
KOA Sports because we came on right after.

Into the newsroom and the game, you know, just like
the Broncos games we carry, We're twenty seconds ahead of
the TV. So I was like, oh my god, I'm
going to hear something happen out here, and then I'm
going to miss it on the broadcast. So I was
I was running back and forth and trying not to
listen in the newsroom because I didn't want.

To hear it before I got to see it on TV.

No, you don't want to have the anticipation of the No,

I sometimes when we have away games and get you know,
being up here whatever listening when we don't have when
we didn't have the deals of the burnown. I would
you know, be in here new. I didn't have any
issue with that. I didn't mind hearing it twenty seconds before.

I don't mind it during a Broncos game because I'm
actually still working and you know, having to do a
bunch of other things, so I can just look up
at the TV if a big play happens. But I
loved knowing before it actually happens on the TV broadcast.
But for this it was a different occasion because I
was so locked in to watching the.

Game that I didn't want to be spoiled.

Because soccer is such a fickle sport to watch because
you can be watching it so intently for like forty
minutes and this has happened to me multiple times during
the World Cup. Then my wife will be like, hey,
can you do this one thing for me? And it's
like every single time I get up, a goal was
score and I'm like, I just watched forty five minutes
straight passing, passing, and then right when I get up,

the most exciting moment of the game happened.

So soccer is just a little bit different.

The weirder thing to me, more than the officiating problem,
is that people just hate Caitlyn Clark so much, Like
the players she's playing against hate her so much. And
she has done so much for that game in the

it that you're a competitor and you don't want someone

else to get all the fame, But if it's raising
your contracts by fifty percent a year, like, maybe don't
attack that player every chance you get.

with Jordan yeah, I think there is something to recognize
because somebody is the best player in your league and

who did the robbing, and so over the course of
a couple of months, hatched a scheme with some of
his friends to break in and steal things back from

them and hold him at gunpoint, in which he was
on FaceTime with the people who were executing it, like
directing the whole thing.

And I mean, he categorically denies everything.
Speaker 1 (28:44):
That's the statement through his attorney, But I mean, I
think they've got him on this.
Speaker 3 (28:49):
He's facing like life in prison, yes, And I mean.

the guys that stole from.

You, well, the police determined that they were Bonaire. The
police determined that it wasn't. And yeah, I don't know,
I don't know. I really don't know what the mentality
