Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Broncos Country Tonight special edition of course, here Benjamin

(00:04):
al Bright, Nick Ferguson taking a moment to go hang
out with some alumni, Benjamin al Bright, Ryan Edwards with
you five six six nine zero is our Kaoi Commas
burial text line. People filled out the stands very nicely
here on a Saturday. It's pretty cool though, I mean,
you're getting a chance to walk by the line. Then
there's such a different layout this year with the new facility, right,

(00:24):
so because of that, you know, you got a chance
as we're walking from the parking lot around It's it's
really cool to walk by all the fans and then
a couple of days in a row get a chance
to meet people that are big KOA listeners, big listeners
of Broncos Country Tonight, KA Sports, the Broncos broadcasts. Chatting
with them. That's been a blast. So, I again, we're

(00:45):
getting used to all of it, but so far.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
I've really enjoyed that.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Yeah, hold on one second, Oh you picked up the
wrong headset.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Hey, one of these days radio was right in front
of me.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
It's in my seat there, so it's like, all right,
was the right one? Yeah, it's it's been I think
it's good for the fans to have this sort of view,
like if you if you look at where they got
the coverage and stuff like that, it gives them a
closer up look, the closest up look I think at everything,
which is which is definitely fun for them. And I
think it's geared towards geared towards that it's fun to. Yeah,
it's fun to give a walk past all the you know,

(01:18):
all the fans and all that kind of stuff and
high five people and put faces that people listen to
the show and.

Speaker 4 (01:23):
Uh and all that. I think it's it. It's a
little more interactive, and I think that's what I think.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
It's a lot of fun.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
It's been really cool and and yeah, yesterday was a blast,
just the fan energy I did. I did kind of
chuckle though as we were joking with Nick because Alex
Singleton also noticed that the fans tend to cheer mostly
for offensive plates and again Money noticed.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
But it's one of the things. I think there's a
natural like if.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
This team and I'm just gonna say this out loud,
it may not necessarily mean that it's completely true. If
this team was known for their great offensive play like,
let's say Cincinnati, what it is like, So you got
Joe Burrow, You've got Jamar Chase, yet t Higgins like,
you got all this firepower on offense, and the Joe

(02:08):
Burrow is just shredding the defense every day. Well yeah,
I mean the fans would be like, that's pretty cool.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
However, oh my god.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
Our defense is going to be really bad again this year.
I feel like this is just that opposite effect where
we already know the defense is going to play to
a certain standard. We are We've been waiting for some
consistency and from just some some bigger performances from the offense.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
Yeah, I think the defense has built its credibility, you know,
over the last few years, and so I think this
is more about.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
It's exciting that the offense might finally be good, you know.

Speaker 3 (02:40):
I mean it's been okay, it's it's been a work
in progress, but it might be good now, and so
I think I think that's a part of it.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Plus fans just you.

Speaker 4 (02:46):
Know, they gravitate to that.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
It's just like Nick was saying, you know, you're gonna
get more applause for for a home run than you
are for a double play.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
Oh for sure, for sure, and that, like I said,
that logically tracks, but I think we were just you're
willing it. You're wanting the offense to take that next
step and what you can be if bo Nicks goes
to another level in year three, if this offense goes
to another level in year three. I was talking to
you today with Nate about widening your margins. You've already

(03:13):
shown the building propensity to win games, especially in the
fourth quarter and comebacks, and you have relied on the
offense at times to be the straw there in the
fourth quarter to get this team over the level to.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
Get those wins.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
But the fact is is the reason why you're having
to come back is because you're having those lulls because
you have in the three and ouns. You're the fourth
worst team in the league last year in three and
ounce and punts. That is something that you've got to
find a way to overcome. And just even if you're
middle of the pack, I'm not even saying this offense
needs to suddenly become a top ten.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
Hey, we don't ever go three and out in punts ever.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
I mean it's going to happen, right, but over the
course of the season, not being one out of every
four drives is a three and out punt. Let's cut
that in half or even just get that number into
the middle of the pack in the league. And then
I think that Loan, we'll see a massive jump in
what this offense is capable of.

Speaker 4 (04:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
Yeah, if you could just get consistent with you, you know,
get a few first day, if you can come out
and get a first down, you know, it gets the
defense even more opportunity to rest and be and be hungry.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
And voracious and going after.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
We're going after offense to see May Jackson, I can
squeeze it in there nice. I think it benefits everybody.
And it looks like that they're getting more comfortable with that.
Like I said, there's some new concepts with this. There's
some new things that they're doing. They're kind of updating it,
freshening it up, and it needed it. I mean, you know,
I'm not trying to I Sean Baiden's a break up
play designer. I just think that there are aspects of

(04:37):
the offense that were a bit archaic, and you know,
it looks like Davis Webb was sort of bringing this
into the future.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
And I asked you in the first hour about what
kind of impact Davis webad on yesterday, and I'm not
exactly sure, and even Sewna said, you may not notice
it completely of practices, it may be a little bit
more of a game day situation that that that's where
we're going to see the differences. But once again, it's
it's just like, you know, sort of cause and effect.
I think we are our minds naturally gravitates or well,

(05:04):
there's a big change in offensive coordinator, big change of
play caller, and suddenly the offense has a really good day.
It's hard not to sort of tile all of that
together as the reasoning for things. But we did talk
about there was some more motion yesterday, which was good
to see. I think, you know, Broncos fans will be
happy to see that. And honestly, like even when I
pointed out that, you know, again, fans had their feelings

(05:25):
about screen game last year, the screen game could be
highly effective, Like don't abandon the screen game just because
there were some frustrations with some of its effectiveness last year,
with especially in the blocking.

Speaker 4 (05:39):
Pick your battles on this.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
You can't just spam the same thing and then expect
somehow to miraculously work out. And we saw that, I mean,
fans were identifying what the play call was it that,
you know, opposing defenses were done.

Speaker 4 (05:51):
I saw opposing defenses.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Do it down on the field starting as early as
the Giants game.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
So, you know, if you're going to use the screen game,
let me mix it up a little bit judicious when
you do so, and find opportunities to do that. You know,
if you've just if you've been picking them with the
long ball or something, okay, then then pop the screen
underneath and force them back up.

Speaker 4 (06:08):
You know that kind of thing.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
But don't don't just do it to do it, do
it with purpose and intent. Agreed, Completely agreed.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
All right, So they obviously we're under weigh in practice
here started at ten am. The way they've been doing this,
they add some individual drills for the people that aren't
out here, they do some individual drills.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
Now they're going to kind of line up and do
a little bit of a walk through team portion.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Again, this is kind of install stuff, right, I mean,
you did some install over the course of Bota's Man Story
Mini camp, but these early portions of training camp.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
Correct me if I'm wrong at any point.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
But these are usually kind of installed moments really for
both sides of the ball.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
Yeah, I mean that's what you're doing. You're trying to
get the base of what you're the crux of what
you're going to do at your at your heart installed,
and then the variations on to figure out who's capable
of doing what, where the weak links are in that
you want to attack it with different looks, you want
to defend some of those attacks with different looks, and
and I think that's you know, that's a part of it,
just getting the basics down and then started to build

(07:05):
off that, see what works and what doesn't.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
And I want to say, yeah, and I think it's
going to be and you said that pretty consistently the case.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
We're going to probably see a lot of any animal
os Rique filling in there at the JFM role or
early on for this team.

Speaker 4 (07:19):
I would be shocked if he was not the guy.

Speaker 3 (07:21):
I mean it, you know, just conversations that I've had,
like he's he's in the driver's seat now. If somebody
comes in and laps him, that's one thing, but he's
in the driver's seat right now for that role.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
Yesterday was fun during this walk walk through portion.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
Uh, there's a couple of touchdown tosses to Troy Franklin,
and the fact that you're to nix points to your
point about why fans get excited about the offense.

Speaker 2 (07:45):
Do we get anything?

Speaker 1 (07:46):
It's quite literally walked through, But they were amped and
started clapping when Troy Franklin caught a walk through touchdown
for like thirty yards.

Speaker 4 (07:53):
It's exciting when he hangs out of the ball.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
Okay, come on, we could do better than that. He
actually a pretty.

Speaker 4 (07:58):
Good year light.

Speaker 3 (07:59):
Look, I held off even though the honysty is out.
I held off on Trojan Horse references.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
So I was supposed to give you credit for that.

Speaker 4 (08:06):
Now, yes, the fall of Troy.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
Ya don't, no, Anthony, don't don't knuckles, no, no, no, no,
you do great stuff on the social media. But giving
him love for that, he's just tuned in for the
history joke. It's just it's just gonna make him feel empowered.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
No, it's not good. It's not good.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
Then I call that play Agamemnon because I brought about
the fall of Troy.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
See now you're just yeah, yeah, I'm milking it too hard.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
Anyways. Uh, Yes, Troy Franklin had a good year last year.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
What are your expectations for a moment while we're talking
about Troy, considering now you have Jalen Waddle, seems like
maybe Evan Ingram's gonna have a bit bigger role this year,
at least early look at it. Because of those factors.
What does that do for Troy?

Speaker 3 (08:54):
I mean that pushes him down the bench you, I
mean to the point where Troy was the guy last
year you went out and paid the freight to bring
in wall.

Speaker 4 (09:00):
You paid a first and a third and you.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
Gotta pay Jayala Wattle twice seven million dollars next year,
and you had you had to replace Troy Franklin like
you did that. So Troy's gonna have to figure it
out as far as what his role is down the
roster because he was not capable of being that Z receiver.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
It's gonna be.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
It feels like for Troy, maybe forms MS had a
great day. I mean, he was one of the stars
of a practice, right, I mean, i'd say him, Evan Ingram,
I think you probably.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
I mean there's a few people. I even though Bandy
had a couple of nice moments too, but.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
You'd say those guys like whenever you get an opportunity
to be on the field, you just sort of have
to take advantage of it, right, And say I do
with Pat Bryant, who I also had a couple of
nice catches.

Speaker 2 (09:45):
You you're just.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
Gonna know that Corland Son, Jalen Wattle, they're gonna they're
gonna suck up a lot of top targets, right, I mean,
those guys are gonna get a lot of tick, as
Dave would say. And now maybe even Evan ingram Is,
this is the third guy as far as pass catchers.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
So whatever rotation you're in there.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
And I think even Evan when I talked to him yesterday,
said there's gonna be games where Pat Bryant has a
big day. There's gonna be games where Troy Franklin has
a big day.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
He said. His expectation is the ball gets spread around
a lot.

Speaker 4 (10:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
I mean, they have different guys they want to rotate through,
but there's got to be a guy you can rely
There's got to be a Tim Patrick in there somewhere
that you can rely on on third down. Right, you
know what Corland is, you know Wadle is, Who's gonna
be that guy when you need that third body in there,
and you absolutely got to have it, you know, and
they're clamping down on those two that you're gonna go to.
Is it gonna be Angram Okay? But you know beyond that,

(10:42):
is it gonna be Pat Bryant as you try to
get him, you know, warmed up to take Cortland sudden spot?
Is it going to be Troy Franklin and a resurgent
Martin Mims? Like we said, it's been out here having
great days. Little Jordan Humphrey still has blackmail photos on
Sean Payton.

Speaker 2 (10:55):
So you know, allegedly, allegedly.

Speaker 1 (10:57):
You should probably add that I've heard you say that
that reference before. Allegedly it's one of those deals because
especially because of you, as our insider, say things, sometimes
people tweet like Benjamin Albright's reporting that those are Humphrey kids.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
No, I'm I'm you know, I would specify that they are.

Speaker 3 (11:13):
Polaroids as you are just now.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
Anyways, on one Texter, apparently if a family member really
likes your.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
Troy reference there, so congratulations, you know, Anthony at number
looks familiar. I give it back to you the people.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
Yeah, I wonder how much the personnel changes will drop
down this season, it's hard to get set at the
line and operate with pre stat motion when you will
have eight seconds on the play clock.

Speaker 3 (11:38):
I mean out of the huddle, hundred percent. These are
things we've talked about on the show, a lot of
the constant change you could personnel, all that kind of stuff.
I still think that they're likely to have sort of
that running back rotation that they've had, which you know,
I know they all hate because they never get a
chance to get into a rhythm. But I do think
you'll find more personnel groupings that keep the same guys
out there for chunks of plays at a time.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
I mean, just rhythm.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
I you know, I can almost get behind some of
that with the pass catchers, but the running backs.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
That's the one that's weird for me is JK.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
Dobbins has a five yard gain on first down, run
the play again, just keep him in there.

Speaker 3 (12:15):
Now.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
We saw some moments as we got past the first
few games and started to see like, Okay, JK was
the guy that they're just leaving in there a little
bit more, and RJ was coming in.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
As the change of pace guy to a certain extent.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
But that's also going to be fascinating to see how
that's defined. Because the team they already said very clearly,
very openly, they want to be running back by committee.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
We know that. So does that mean you're trying to
as JK.

Speaker 1 (12:42):
Dobbins has sort of thrown down the gutlet if I'm
going to be healthy all year, do you protect him
from himself? Like we want, we want you for seventeen games.
We know we're better with you for seventeen games. And
because of that, we're going to really lean into the rotation,
getting Joe to Coleman some runs between the tackles to
save JK.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
Dobbins, getting a RJ.

Speaker 1 (13:04):
Harvey in a little bit more, especially if he takes
a step forward there in the running game.

Speaker 4 (13:08):
Well, he would have to take a signific a step forward.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
I think what I think there is some of that
where you'd lean on the rotation, but there's also like
you you don't have to rotate in a game.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
You can also rotate week to week. Maybe you've got
a JK.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
Dobbins heavy game plan and then the next week you've
got a Joonah Coleman.

Speaker 4 (13:22):
Heavy game plan.

Speaker 3 (13:22):
You know, there are different ways to attack different defenses
and so maybe in different ways to attack rotating and
keeping a guy fresh anyway, So maybe there are ways
to do that that aren't just a rotation in game
so much as it is like like an overarching seasonal
rotation at times as well.

Speaker 1 (13:40):
Yeah, and you're right, I mean maybe some of its
matchup base, right, right, I mean, that's that that would
make a lot of sense. Sometimes it felt, I guess
for us as we're looking at it as as viewers
of the team, it felt a little haphazard, even though
I know it wasn't.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
There are times it felt that way because.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
Guy, you'd be having success and you just intentionally go
away from it to keep the defense guessing, but also
felt like you're keeping your offense guessing.

Speaker 2 (14:06):
At times too.

Speaker 3 (14:07):
Yeah, and again like getting guys in rhythm and stuff
like that. You got to find the balance with that,
you know, as a play caller.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
So and Sean's gonna want to probably still leaning his
thumb on the scale there.

Speaker 3 (14:17):
That's what I've that's my concern, I guess a little
bit with all this is like, Okay, we're practicing this,
but what are we implementing at the end of the day,
Like when it gets into the game. How heavy is
that thumb going to be on the scale and doing
some of those old things that will take you out
of the things that.

Speaker 4 (14:32):
You've been you know, you've been working on.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
Here, I have five six six nine zero our Kway
Common Spirit Health text line again doing some walkthrough here
kind of right in front of us, which is nice.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
Seeing the offense.

Speaker 1 (14:43):
They kind of got to some second team out there
on defense along with some first team. They're going to
see some mixing and matching, getting guys opportunities to play
next to each other. And I'm fascinated to see by
the way, I know we're like a little less than
two weeks away, which is also remarkable from the first
preseason game. I'm gonna be fast to see how Sean
approaches who.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
Plays in those games. Because on one.

Speaker 1 (15:06):
Hand, again getting you know, building up the calluses, getting
kind of ready for the season.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
There's a certain value to that.

Speaker 1 (15:12):
We're not doing joint practices this year, so you don't
get a chance to do any of that hitting or
playing live right during the course of practice. But then,
what value do you get out of, say bon Nick's
playing in a preseason game. What value do you get
playing some of these star players on defense in a game.

Speaker 3 (15:30):
Well, there's an inherent value to get those calluses built,
you know, so it's not just a car crash when
you go into week one. We've seen that typically. You know,
running backs they don't play in the preseason. They don't
take hits in the in the preseason. They come into games,
they fumble. Uh, they're just not you know, they're not
used to getting hit. And you know, you get somebody
teeing off on you. It's nice to get a little
bit of that. And I think it's nice to get
some some game tape on some of your things and say, Okay,

(15:52):
this worked, this didn't work. We want to you know,
look at those situations. There's there's value to playing these
guys in the preseason.

Speaker 2 (15:57):
Well, I mean, I'm not saying there isn't. It's it's
a risk reward like we do.

Speaker 1 (16:01):
I remember when when it's Nathaniel Hackett, and I know
people don't bring up that name, but but.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
It was Nathaniel Hackett.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
That was his thing, Like he's like, I don't I'm
not playing anybody. And at the time, and even now,
because you see like Sean McVay, for example, leaves his
starters home. He doesn't even bring them on trips in
the preseason. It's not worth it, right, So there's just
something too. Every team can do it a little bit different.

(16:26):
There is no one this is the right way and
only way. I'm interested to see. As Sean is getting
older and doesn't drive it at night in the rain,
you know, as he's he's getting into a different portion
of his life.

Speaker 2 (16:39):
Is the way he views coaching.

Speaker 1 (16:41):
If he views this a little bit different, especially for
guys that have had some injury history.

Speaker 4 (16:45):
Maybe, I mean, you know, maybe he does, maybe he doesn't.
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (16:48):
I think you still want to get people some stabs
you just get you got to give something out there.
You don't want to I mean completely bubble wrap it now.

Speaker 4 (16:56):
You want to keep guys that you.

Speaker 2 (16:57):
Want to make sure Bo's ankle you're not putting that at.

Speaker 4 (16:59):
Risk, you know, those kinds of things.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
But there's still, like I said, hey, it's I don't
know of any advantage just not getting any snaps at all,
unless you're like Stafford with as old as a bad back,
that kind of thing.

Speaker 2 (17:10):
What do you think of the been power for a
structure yesterday? I mean for you this week.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
Yeah, it guarantees him more money than he was going
to get for the season with some incentive escalators in there,
while freeing up you know a little bit more space,
and it gives you a little bit of flexibility as
you know, as a team. So by guaranteeing that money,
you commit to him. Uh and then you know, like
I said, you free a little bit up, and you know,
you need to free some money up because you've you've

(17:35):
got a big boat next extension coming up here here
pretty soon. And I think that that's something they're trying
to budget forward, figure out how they're going to keep
as much of this team together as they can when
that comes up. Because BOE's going to get sixty million
plus a year, you know, I mean that's a going
right for quarterbacks. We're past the fifty five threshold, were
at the sixty threshold now and you know, you wait
too long on that extension, it might be higher than that.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
So they got thirty seven million, around thirty seven million
catch right now.

Speaker 4 (18:00):
That'll allow you.

Speaker 3 (18:01):
To push some bonus money forward and all that kind
of stuff, and and b flex we can also roll
that money forward into next year if you need to,
So like I said that having that flexibility is just
a good thing.

Speaker 1 (18:10):
You think anybody, I mean, you can put your insider
cap on or just speculate. Do you think anybody's going
to be getting a contract extension before the season starts?

Speaker 4 (18:20):
I mean maybe a mcmillion.

Speaker 3 (18:21):
You know, a lot of that depends on camp and
all that kind of stuff and where you're at with that.
But you know, maybe Jaquan I think I don't more
so than Riley Moss. Yeah, I mean, they're real sensitive
about that as far as that stuff, because you remember
that report that came out that they were talking and
they weren't talking, and you know, yeah, they're real sensitive
about that right now. I think, you know, I think

(18:42):
they want to see that thing play out a little
bit more. And that's what we talked about, the parent,
you know, component of that. As far as the rest
of it goes, Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (18:49):
You're gonna have to You're gonna have to figure some stuff.

Speaker 4 (18:50):
Out of the offensive line this offseason. Like Powers won't
be back after this year.

Speaker 3 (18:55):
You can't afford to pay an a entire offensive line,
every receiver, every running back you know, your back, every
defensive player. You just can't can't do that under the
salary cap, so they've got to figure that out a
little bit.

Speaker 2 (19:05):
Well.

Speaker 1 (19:06):
Sure, but they've they identify guys that they want to
continue to build around, right, and they have been judicious
but also proactive. Like I have been very impressed with
the way that they've approached this. I mean, I think,
you know, locking up your center last year like that
one was was a bit of an eye opener because.

Speaker 4 (19:30):
That that was.

Speaker 1 (19:31):
One where we'd made all the arguments for waiting to
go ahead and get Luke done, maybe more of a
free agency conversation, and they just did not want to
push that thing into free agency and having to be
looking for a starting center. They wanted to get that done,
you know, getting getting some of these done in advance.

Speaker 2 (19:48):
It just feels like this is a team that that.

Speaker 1 (19:51):
Con oftent takes a look ahead, peaks ahead to free
agency on what's going to be available, and they just
don't want to compete for certain guys that.

Speaker 2 (19:57):
They view his core.

Speaker 1 (19:58):
So McMillan, to your point, I think it serves multiple
purposes because not only has he turned into a very
good player, a very strong nickel for you, as well
as a guy that that has.

Speaker 2 (20:10):
Some position versatility.

Speaker 1 (20:11):
He also represents an undrafted player that you can sort
of showcase, says, hey, you come into camp, you prove
your worth and look at the Look at this great
moment he had in the Buffalo Bills game, Like he
earned this opportunity and he earned a new contract with US.

Speaker 3 (20:26):
Yeah, and then you know the other side of that
with with the Moss thing, I mean, you know he's
played adequately, but I think you want.

Speaker 4 (20:31):
To see Baron.

Speaker 3 (20:32):
You've got Abram Strain who's spent an adequate replacement when
he's been out there as well on a cheap deal.

Speaker 2 (20:36):
So I think you know that's one that's probably gone.
Brandon Jones is probably gone.

Speaker 4 (20:39):
DJ Jones probably gone.

Speaker 3 (20:42):
You know, you look at the the inside backers and
one of those is probably gone. You look at the
edge rushers, probably can't pay both of them.

Speaker 4 (20:50):
So you know, the Cooper Benito, you'd probably keep anido.

Speaker 3 (20:53):
And then you know you're hoping Elis or Keith Robinson
steps up on a rookie deal. So I think you're
going to see, you know, a lot of turnover after
this year. But I think a lot of these guys
they've drafted and prepared for that, I think, you know,
they're kind of hoping for.

Speaker 4 (21:04):
The next man up and a lot of that.

Speaker 1 (21:06):
It kind of has to be that way, right, I mean,
that's that's what your draft is supposed to be.

Speaker 4 (21:09):
Right.

Speaker 1 (21:10):
Remarkably, though, this team hasn't leaned on some of those
draft picks of times, so that's some of the Marshall projections.

Speaker 3 (21:20):
And I mean, Vance is famously rookie averse. You know,
you go back and you look fans. Jos has been
averse to playing rookies throughout his career. So you know,
I don't read too much of that, don't read too
much of that into on defense or whatever.

Speaker 5 (21:32):
But yeah, I think they're going to have to find
some cost control bodies here on rookie contracts in order
to keep this thing a float going forward.

Speaker 1 (21:43):
Question for you on the text line, Ben, I asked
you four months ago if Singleton would be gone.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
You said guaranteed.

Speaker 4 (21:48):
What happened, we're saying guaranteed. I certainly didn't say that.

Speaker 3 (21:53):
As far as the rest of that goes, though, I
mean the bringing him back as a free agent.

Speaker 4 (21:57):
After this oh wait, wait, wait after this season would
be gone.

Speaker 3 (22:00):
I don't think I said guaranteed there either, but it
would be unlikely that he would be back at this
point after this year simply to give him a two
year deal, didn't they? Yeah, But I mean you look
the way that things structure. You can get off under.

Speaker 2 (22:14):
A three year deal. There are I think it's a
three year.

Speaker 4 (22:15):
Deal with it, but it's really the the way.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
That they're trying to move the money around and everything.

Speaker 4 (22:22):
I mean, it's it's sort.

Speaker 1 (22:23):
Of two year fifteen point five, yeah, but like eleven
of that's Gamelen guarantee.

Speaker 3 (22:27):
Yeah, and then I can't remember what the the you know,
the total money after the first year that swept through
is yeah, I'll get it right here.

Speaker 4 (22:34):
But the cap versus cut year two.

Speaker 1 (22:37):
Is yeah, so cap is nine dead is five, next
year's safe, so you're saved four, right.

Speaker 3 (22:42):
So that that ends up being uh, at the end
of the day, that ends up being uh, you know,
an eyeball, you know thing you're look at it. You
can't guarantee somebody's gonna be gone or not gone, you know,
but it's it's one of those things where if they're
not moves up and you've seen what they put into
the inside back or a three year, but they put
it in the inside backer position, right, or the draft

(23:03):
picks the red Murdocks to bring in the Torre and
York out of that, you know is your DFA. You
got Corona Reed, you got Vell Baileyvel Bailey and Jordan Turnerner. Yeah,
that's what I was trying to think of Turner. You know,
they tried to put Drew Sanders and there. That didn't
really work out, but you know they've made a consistent
effort that you can court to see.

Speaker 4 (23:21):
Alex Singleton's getting up there in years.

Speaker 3 (23:22):
I mean he's go at thirty three this year, is
going to be thirty four next year. I mean he's
getting up there in years at inside backer, and a
lot of what he does is predicated on his athleticism,
and you're getting to the age where it starts to
fall off, right.

Speaker 1 (23:33):
Well, it's his athleticism and I mean his intelligence, his
awareness of the of the defense. Yeah right, I mean
that's I mean, that's the reason why you bring back
to your inside linebackers.

Speaker 2 (23:43):
You certainly had an opportunity to quote unquote upgrade there.

Speaker 1 (23:46):
You could have taken a bigger swing, but you like
the fit in their defense and the reality that I
talked about this a couple of days ago on Kris Sports.
It's to say that inside linebackers a very important position, clearly,
but Joseph has found ways when had dealing with multiple
injuries an inside linebacker or bringing in guys that were

(24:07):
say special teams players, and now you're thrust into playing
starting role like Justin Surnad for example, or even now
it's Singleton from a few years ago. He's found ways
to work around that and use some of the strengths
of his other positions too.

Speaker 2 (24:21):
I would say massket because that.

Speaker 1 (24:22):
Feels very strong, but just to say we can we
can kind of cover up some of those maybe athletic
inadequacies if we have to.

Speaker 2 (24:30):
Now again, once in a while, you're gonna be on
an island. We saw that last year.

Speaker 1 (24:33):
Alex Singleton got put on an island a couple of times.
Sir Noad has been at times and you're just like, boy,
it would be great to have a sideline to sideline
inside linebacker, which is why you brought in Joy Greenlaw
last year. But I feel like of all the position
groups like Broncos friends are freaking out about inside linebacker.

Speaker 2 (24:47):
I feel like that this team knows exactly who they
are there.

Speaker 3 (24:51):
I think they think they do. Yeah, I would agree
with that. I think you know again, I think they
want to get a look at some of these other
guys and see you know how it is.

Speaker 2 (24:58):
You know what this year is, but you want to
see what the future is. Absolutely all right?

Speaker 1 (25:02):
Five six six nine zero O kay, Common Spirit Hill
text line. If you want to interact with us, you
have any questions, now, we're doing some stretching, so.

Speaker 2 (25:09):
We'll bring you.

Speaker 1 (25:10):
We can't do play by play obviously, but we can
do some highlight moments. You'll probably hear the crowd behind
us roar if it's a big offensive play, defensive play.

Speaker 2 (25:19):
Maybe they'll roar for that too. For Nick, Just for Nick.
We'll have ro Ricklous joining us here just a little bit.

Speaker 4 (25:24):
Susie Wrigen still to come.

Speaker 1 (25:26):
More on till twelve o'clock today, as we are live
for Broncos Park powered by Commas Spirit for day two
a Broncos training camp.

Speaker 2 (25:33):
Ryan Verds, Benjamin al bright O Kowa.

Speaker 1 (25:39):
Broncos Park powered by Common Spirit, Ryan Edwards, Benjamin Albrien.
We are thrilled to welcome here into the tent Color
analysts for Denver Broncos legendary radio host on the Fox,
as well as an all time amazing human and fantastic drummer.

Speaker 2 (25:56):
I might add for the Ricklos product, one and only Ricklus.
What's up, Rick, see.

Speaker 4 (26:00):
You guys man, And it's really good to see Ben.
A rare appearance in mid day. Yeah, midday appearance by
benchamin Albright. Nobody gets that. I was, I don't know
where the sun came up this early, and then there
were people out. Yeah, you seem a little crabby A
little bit, Yeah, a little bit. I felt it as
soon as I walked up. I kind of felt kind
of felt aura of crabbiness. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (26:21):
Yeah, I'd say we we somehow survived.

Speaker 2 (26:24):
The first hour.

Speaker 1 (26:25):
There was a lot of like, you know, looking at
the sun and you know, shielding away. And then yeah,
the last segment, uh Ben was was here.

Speaker 2 (26:34):
Yeah, which was rie when you know Zach rub or
something or I mean, if you're offering.

Speaker 4 (26:41):
After the segment, there you go. I got there, you go.
Big Thumbs. They call me mister Thumb, so I can
dig in.

Speaker 1 (26:46):
I call him big you know, I know what they
call him balls Edwards.

Speaker 4 (26:52):
I know. I think that's right.

Speaker 2 (26:55):
The new intro to the show.

Speaker 6 (26:57):
All right, Rick well Man, you know yesterday we were
talking about, wow, is a big day for the offense.

Speaker 1 (27:01):
A lot of explosive plays for the offense. What does
that mean for you?

Speaker 4 (27:06):
We talked about this on the Kboy Sports Show a
couple of days ago. I think that's a very good
sign because rarely do we see that here with this
football team. It's always the defense dominating the offense in
training camp and then we're all worried and wondering how
it's going to go. So this is a pleasant surprise
and hopefully it's a promising trend as well.

Speaker 1 (27:29):
I Billy agree, and that was one of the things
I said earlier to Nick is hoping maybe we could
string together a couple of days of the offense doing that.
I expect the defense we get into some sevens and
some team and just a.

Speaker 2 (27:40):
Little bit to bounce back a little bit.

Speaker 1 (27:43):
I mean, this is a team full of pride talent
on the defensive side. They're used to carrying this thing.
So the defense is going to have their say. But
what if, as we're sitting here for a moment, because
they're getting into some individual drills, what if the offense
to string another day together. Now, are you going to
be on the side Rick of believing that is maybe

(28:06):
worrisome for the defense, or are you're going to be
more last half full like I know you tend to be.

Speaker 2 (28:11):
No, this is just good news for the offense.

Speaker 4 (28:13):
No, I don't think we have to be concerned about
this defense. They basically ran the entire defense back other
than John Franklin Meyer. So my answer to that is no.
I think they're just maybe more focused this year on
offense with Davis Webb is the offensive coordinator throwing in
a couple of maybe surprises this season, some twists on

(28:38):
some things they've done before, some tweaks on some others,
which I think should work out well for them, especially
the first part of the season, because these defenses that
we're going to play the first three, four or five games,
they're probably not quite sure what this offense is going
to look like. The tendency should be quite different with
a Davis Webb at least I hope so. And if

(28:58):
that's the case, you know, we were looking at a
three and three start would be good. Maybe it go
four to two, something like that. Doing really good ship
that brutal.

Speaker 3 (29:08):
Front end schedule'd be nice to, you know, to have
some Tennessee breakers catch the people, Yeah, and get out
to a good start before you get to that easier
back half of the schedule.

Speaker 1 (29:16):
Oh absolutely well, but again it's as hard to predict
off of one day of training camp. But again it's
the reason for optimism. It's not the thing where you see.
That's it, I think more than anything. It's just, you know,
if fans are wondering because I got called a fan
boy yesterday on the text line.

Speaker 2 (29:30):
I mayet called a lot worse, but I got called
a fan boy.

Speaker 1 (29:32):
Yesterday because I was kind of geeking out about how
exciting was to see the offense be aggressive on day one.
It's just we don't see it very often. We see
teams ease into these things, especially on often.

Speaker 4 (29:42):
Well, you gotta wipe more letters than I did watching
the that last drill. They're going like half speed, three
quarter speeds. They had probably six or seven plays in
a row where Ingram was the number one target, and
I think that's also a good sign. Yeah, like they
specific want to get him more involved. Davis Webb in particular,

(30:04):
if Evan Ingram can have an Evan Ingram type year
and JK. Dobbins stays healthy, we'll all be fanboys. Just
fan boys.

Speaker 2 (30:15):
Are so weird, I agree.

Speaker 1 (30:17):
And he was heavily targeted yesterday. How do you just
did to walk through that is? That is what we
saw when they went up to whateverever close to full
speed Evan Ingram. He got the deep touchdown from Jared
Sidham was a sixty seventy yard shot to him fifty
yards in the air. That was great, but it was
also the underneath stuff giving an opportunity to create and

(30:38):
just to the matchup. And that's kind of why he's here.
His speed, his straight line speed as a tight end
is one of the more elite skys in the league.
Right even at year ten, he still can offer you
a lot in the passing game. And as long as
he's a willing blocker, you're not tipping your hand every
time he's on the field. If you want to run
more twelve personnel.

Speaker 2 (30:57):
You know, Justin Joe Lee.

Speaker 1 (30:58):
I mean, I've been saying for a while, Rick that
I don't have high expectations of Dallan Bentley and Justin
Joe Lee in year one. It's not to say that
you're not going to utilize them. It's not to say
that you can't give them some run out here, but
let's just for a what if for a second here,
what if one, just one of those guys takes a

(31:19):
step forward where you can have them more available to
you in a multitude of rais. You know, Justin Jolie,
I mean he lined up all over the place in college, right,
He lined up in the backfield, he lined up in line,
he lined up out wide.

Speaker 2 (31:31):
You know, if there's anybody on this team, and I
know we try not.

Speaker 1 (31:33):
To use the j word very often, but if there's
anybody on this team, actually, Justin Jolee's probably the closest
thing to your joker.

Speaker 4 (31:40):
Yeah he's big, he's athletic, but there's only so many
targets to go around.

Speaker 2 (31:44):
Though.

Speaker 4 (31:44):
It's amazing this training camp just how deep this roster is,
how deep the wide receiver room is, and now we're
even talking about a deep tight end room. They drafted
two tight ends they share to go along with Evan Ingram,
who they brought in last year. I think this is
going to be a really interesting preseason when we get

(32:05):
a chance to see these young guys in action. Like
justin Joe Lee and looking at the wide receivers out here.
They're doing drills right in front of us right now.
One thing you notice when you see these guys in
shorts and shells, you get a pretty i would say,
a different perspective about their body type. And Jaylen Waddle,

(32:27):
first thing I noticed is he is bigger than I
thought he was. Really. Yeah, he's thick. When you look
at him compared to Troy Franklin, Marvin Mims. You know,
they might be about the same height, but he's a
thicker athlete than them, and he's got all the speed.
He's got the speed that Mims has as well. So
that's one of the first things I noticed when I

(32:47):
looked at him today.

Speaker 3 (32:50):
Yeah, he's he's sort of built, I mean almost closer
to a running back, you know a little bit in
terms of like that. Yeah, that's game. I mean, not
quite that thick, but you get the idea. Like the frame, Nika,
we were talking about this earlier. You know, there was
some short concept stuff we talked about Jayla Watall and
the deep ball, but there's some short concept stuff where
can get him going horizontal, get the ball in his hands,
let him create after the catch. And it feels like,
I guess something's been missing out of this offense for

(33:11):
a couple of years. You know, there just aren't those plays.
You know, there's bang bang plays where you hit a
guy that spot that he goes down. But there's just
not a lot of stuff that's it's finding ways for
guys to get yardage after the catch. And I'm hoping
that Davis Webb will bring some of that, the shallow cross,
you know, the mesh concept stuff that'll you'll get the
ball these fast receivers hands, let them create after the catch.

Speaker 4 (33:31):
Yeah. And Marvin Mims, as you know, Ryan do you
rot here yesterday, had a really big day yesterday, highly
motivated Marvin Mims. That wide receiver room is so deep,
and as I just said, you only have so many
targets to go around. I still wonder if he will
be trade bait here, especially shining in camp. If he

(33:52):
has one really good preseason game, you might see, uh,
you could get some good value for him.

Speaker 1 (33:59):
It's interesting conversation because I say, as a wide receiver
that would make some sense, but because he'd be basically
two players for you, because he's your All Pro Pro
Bowl returner and you believe you're you have a team
that can win a championship.

Speaker 2 (34:12):
I feel like that would be kind of I mean
not even kind of. I think that'd be a mistake.

Speaker 1 (34:19):
It's not even just for the depth of what he
is and whether you have aspirations of bringing him back
next year, because he offers all that versatility for you. Ben,
I don't know about how you feel about it, but
if you were going to trade somebody, I think maybe
Troy Franklin would be in the conversation. I would really
really hesitate to move Marvin Mims unless I was getting
something premium because of what he offers you as a returner,

(34:41):
and you think you can win a championship this year.

Speaker 2 (34:43):
It's such a big deal to have a player at
though that caliber at that position.

Speaker 3 (34:46):
Agree, I would not. I would trake Mems, period. I
don't think there's about Franklin though. Yeah, i'd move him
to meet three. But I think you know, I mean,
you got a hand sandwich over there. I would come on,
I like, there's what's what's the reason for keeping him around?
You already went out and replace team of jay La
wat You said Troy Franklin was the start of.

Speaker 2 (35:02):
Last year, and he went out and said, that's not
good enough.

Speaker 4 (35:04):
We're willing to trade a first rounder and a third.

Speaker 3 (35:07):
Rounder and pay a receiver twenty seven million dollars a
year in order to plug that hole. And that should
that should be very telling to Troy Franklin what they
thought about, you know, upgrading that position.

Speaker 4 (35:17):
They have an undrafted free agent that number eighty one.

Speaker 2 (35:22):
I'm a little.

Speaker 4 (35:22):
Biased in a U kid, and they specifically targeted him.
They wanted him because number one, he's a great return man.
He also was a very good wide receiver the last
two seasons for Northern Arizona. It made me wonder a
bit if maybe he's the future return man on the
seat Bobe Katsis. Yeah, if he's the future return man

(35:45):
on this football team. I don't think he'll be a
factor this year, but I would look maybe next year.
Keep an eye on him, and we'll be watching him
in these preseason games. So I can't wait to watch
these young guys.

Speaker 1 (35:57):
Yeah, and that's another great opportunity there the preseason to
see how these guys in the working there. Sean fresh
it's a defensive back who was actually turned together a
couple of nice days and practice an interception in the
end zone in the final day of acclamation period. Had
had a good play yesterday as well. He's got returnability.
Saw that in the UFL, so you you wonder, again

(36:19):
you do have some guys there that compete at it,
but again, proven is very important.

Speaker 4 (36:24):
I'm looking at number thirty out here. I noticed him
as soon as Butler as soon as I walked on
the field here at training camp up, Like, who the
he That's a weird guy?

Speaker 1 (36:33):
Is that?

Speaker 4 (36:34):
Yeah? Yeah, we're a number thirty and that's a UFL guy.

Speaker 2 (36:38):
That's my guy. Do you that's your dude?

Speaker 4 (36:40):
Tell me about him.

Speaker 1 (36:41):
He's out of Iowa State, so he was drafted I
want to say third round Mark he was. He's a
big traits guy, right, so he averages nearly twenty two
yards per catch, super dynamic in college, and he was
one of my draft crushes. I was so desperate that

(37:02):
the Broncos wind ended up getting him.

Speaker 2 (37:04):
Of course they didn't.

Speaker 1 (37:04):
He would probably earlier than I think they'd be willing
to take him.

Speaker 2 (37:08):
He through injury and drops.

Speaker 1 (37:10):
He kind of washed out of the NFL, but then
he was the with the Offensive Player of the Year
for UFL last year.

Speaker 2 (37:17):
Well yeah, yeah, but uh yeah, he's said a little
little problem with the drop sees. Yeah, but a long
touchdown yesterday.

Speaker 4 (37:23):
All the other traits are there.

Speaker 2 (37:24):
Caught a long touchdown yesterday.

Speaker 4 (37:26):
Six foot six almost two hundred and thirty pound. Yeah, yeah,
he looks weird. And number thirty, Yeah he flies like
who's this running back? Where did they get this dude? Yeah?
For you that's that cats with yep.

Speaker 2 (37:37):
Yeah, Sean Payton admittedly.

Speaker 3 (37:39):
As a as a pension for big receivers, you know,
and that kind of thing. So they'll see if the
butler thing works out. But we've face seen that before.
We've seen the at.

Speaker 2 (37:46):
Perry's and all that stuff roll through here, and it's
just you know, we'll see, we'll see. I'd be more
like a practice squad conversation. But look at it. Look
at him run. Look at that. Oh well he didn't
quite get up to the ball. Which the ball so
I mean, that wasn't a drop.

Speaker 4 (37:59):
That was everything you want out of receiver except the
ability to catch up. And he kind of short armed
it like he thought he was going to get a
hit or something, which he wasn't. Like this is on
air like, what are we doing here? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (38:08):
That was interesting. Well who was throwing it to him?
It wasn't bo so al it.

Speaker 1 (38:14):
Yeah, so maybe you know, just understand me, the quarterback
would do a very catchuple ball so that the quarterback
might have put it in place that it wasn't supposed
fan boy Edwards his h hit the microphone here a question.

Speaker 2 (38:24):
Here on the text line is Rick wearing the diaper today?

Speaker 4 (38:26):
Now?

Speaker 1 (38:26):
Listen now, Rick, Rick said he'd wear the diaper if
he was playing p Funk. This isn't like a normal occurrence.
You said you'd do it for that that instance alone.

Speaker 4 (38:36):
Yeah, I got a bad rap for that. I thank
you for explaining that. Yeah, yeah, they you guys asked
me once because I'm a big funk dude. Yeah, my
dream would be the white funk drummer in a big
funk band like p Funk. And somebody asked, would you
wear the diaper? I said, of course I'd wear the diaper,
wouldn't you.

Speaker 2 (38:57):
I'm not saying that on the air.

Speaker 6 (38:58):
Come on, come on, Ryan, We've we've almost worn out
the tape on that. But but it's but so people
will say, oh so Rick, Now we could have built
an endorsement for you, but I think we're too young
on that side of things.

Speaker 4 (39:15):
Yeah, yeah, I don't need it depends endorsement. No, hopefully
not for a long time, for a long time.

Speaker 2 (39:22):
But but this was again just to clear things up,
to help my guy Rick out.

Speaker 1 (39:26):
This was a very specific instance where he'd be willing
to wear a diaper because their drummer famously would sit
back there with just a diaper on.

Speaker 4 (39:35):
Yeah, it's like the Chili Peppers back in the day.
They performed with just a sock on them on their unit,
and that's what really blew them up. By the way.
You know, they've been a band for a while. When
they did that just before your time, that's when you
remember that. That's when people started talking about who is
this band? And and it worked for them. Obviously they're

(39:58):
still one of the biggest bands in the world.

Speaker 2 (39:59):
I mean, you know, sometimes you need a gimmick to
get noticed. That's right, Okay, that's why Ryan wears the
flannel every day, and that's a gimmick.

Speaker 4 (40:05):
I'm shocked you don't have a flannel on today.

Speaker 2 (40:07):
Well, we're in camp, maybe a little a little weird.

Speaker 4 (40:11):
Well, you have summer flannels.

Speaker 2 (40:12):
I do have summer flannels.

Speaker 1 (40:13):
That's true, right, But I don't usually wear those outdoors,
like summer flannel because we we were inside and it's
air conditioned and then temperature controlled, so you can get.

Speaker 2 (40:22):
Away with a summer flannel. Summer flannel outside is it's
just weird?

Speaker 4 (40:26):
Last week, Well, you were there when Ryan played with
my band at Rise. He was wearing a long sleeve flannel.
It was like one hundred and two degrees that day, full.

Speaker 2 (40:34):
Full of pearl jam.

Speaker 4 (40:36):
I was looking for a chain wallet there.

Speaker 2 (40:37):
I couldn't find it.

Speaker 4 (40:38):
Yeah, grungy, really grunchy man. Well, I that's your thing, huh, grune.

Speaker 1 (40:44):
I mean I like that music is certainly in the nineties,
you know, growing up, you know my teen years, we
tend to like lean back on the music that we
listened to a lot.

Speaker 2 (40:53):
So I listened to a lot of the Seattle based
music at that time. I don't know. I mean, yeah,
maybe I'm stucking that era a little bit. I don't
I never intended to be.

Speaker 1 (41:02):
I I just I guess I just like flannel. But
I did think, probably overthink a little bit what I
was gonna wear. I I solicited the opinions of my teenage.

Speaker 2 (41:13):
Daughters as well as my wife. All Right, what am
I gonna wear? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (41:16):
Good? I mean, I appreciate it. But I was a
little surprised, are you are you? Did you like Neil Young?
The grunge heres and Neil Young? I like, I can
see you covering hey hey my my.

Speaker 1 (41:26):
Oh yeah, that's a great song. And I actually I
have played with the other I'm not surprised playing hey
hey my my. Yeah, And I do like I do
like Neil a lot. It took me a while to
get into Neil. There's a lot of bands that just
took me a while to get into, Like The Doors.
I never liked the Doors, but then I, you know,
I met people that liked the Doors, and I started
to like hang out and then you started to kind
of deconstruct some of their songs and you're like, Okay,

(41:46):
there is just a cool stuff here.

Speaker 4 (41:48):
They had some good stuff. Yeah, Jim Morris in one
of those fascinating front and then yes, uh, he's one
of those guys we talked about David Lee Roth the
other day. You could not take your eyes off at
Jim Morrison. Yeah, unfortunately old man years old, but yeah, yeah,
well yeah, me too, but you see videos of course. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (42:06):
Yeah, in the movie with Kilmer was really really good. Anyways, Yeah,
we had fun this week debating.

Speaker 1 (42:13):
I've taken a lot of l's when it comes to
my music tastes on the show, and I'll admit that
because I usually say, well, Rick's gonna back me on this,
and then you show up and you you end up
siding with Dave, and it breaks my heart a little
bit because I'm like, well, Rick, Rick's gonna see that
I'm making a great points here, and then.

Speaker 2 (42:30):
You're like, oh, actually, Dave's right on this.

Speaker 4 (42:32):
Well I'm not doing it on purpose.

Speaker 2 (42:34):
Oh I know, No, You're You're I'm trying to be fair.

Speaker 1 (42:36):
You're coming in objective, and I'm that's fine, and I
know that it's just one of those like I get
in this like no, no, no. Rick is a musician
and a music guy will see that the very superior
version of Johnny cash is Hurt is obviously better than
the the og one from nine Sales, And I just
ended up being wrong on that po Well, here's the

(42:57):
thing on you.

Speaker 4 (42:58):
It's art is subjective and there's no right or wrong answer.
You're you have a ballid opinion, just like Dave Logan,
just like me when it comes to music. Bryan, you
were right.

Speaker 2 (43:08):
I was wrong. Where do we get that's wrong?

Speaker 4 (43:11):
What did that happen? Well, where did we get that one?

Speaker 2 (43:14):
Well, we had, We got to make sure we say
it's like happened twice.

Speaker 1 (43:17):
Ever, Uh, this one I believe, and I don't know
if it's even on the sound by this This one
was on the Nuggets because I said the Nuggets were
gonna run it back.

Speaker 2 (43:27):
Dave was adamant that the Nuggets were going to trade
one of their big three. Well not Nikolaie. Oh, they
were gonna trade Jamal Murray is what he was saying.

Speaker 4 (43:34):
And the trade porter.

Speaker 2 (43:37):
No, No, this was this year.

Speaker 1 (43:38):
Okay, this year he said they were gonna trade. They're
gonna trade Aaron Gordon or Jamal Murray.

Speaker 2 (43:43):
And I said they will not.

Speaker 1 (43:44):
They will be running it back and and hoping to
keep Payton Watson, which I I think I'm right on that.

Speaker 4 (43:49):
Of course we'll see Colby K Catchers in a row.

Speaker 1 (43:53):
Thank you, DAVEY appreciate it. No, I can't can't hear
that enough. And there's my guy justin Joe Lee. Then
is that is not as uh bullish on Joe Lee.

Speaker 4 (44:02):
We already got an editing room.

Speaker 2 (44:05):
For one more year.

Speaker 4 (44:06):
Yeah, I'm just saying like for this year.

Speaker 3 (44:07):
I mean long term maybe, but this year, I'm like,
we've already got a you know, we already got an
editing room.

Speaker 4 (44:12):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (44:13):
Looks like Ricky Piersoll is gonna undergo season ending surgery
on his pc L.

Speaker 4 (44:17):
Yeah. Wow are they well?

Speaker 3 (44:19):
The good news for the Niners, I mean, they went out,
they signed a debot back. But the other good news
is Stribbling just looked real good and camp for them
thus far.

Speaker 1 (44:27):
So somebody on the text line says, I am correct
on the Johnny Cash version of perch, and everybody else
is wrong.

Speaker 2 (44:32):
Thank you, thank you.

Speaker 4 (44:34):
It's all subjective.

Speaker 2 (44:39):
I love you.

Speaker 4 (44:40):
Rick. You're like, no, there's no right or wrong answer.
It's it's all the same.

Speaker 1 (44:45):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (44:45):
Somebody asking my boxers or flannel?

Speaker 1 (44:47):
Uh no, comments, Well, wearing a diaper one hundred degree
heat could cause some chafing down there, I hear, Dave
note the perfect kind of lotion for your bottom?

Speaker 4 (44:57):
What was that all about?

Speaker 1 (44:58):
That was?

Speaker 2 (44:58):
That was a weird segment.

Speaker 4 (45:00):
Even thought that was bizarre, that was a weird second
where are we going with this? Dave?

Speaker 2 (45:03):
Yeah, he started asking guys, did you guys do that right?
We're like, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (45:08):
Yeah, that's the last thing I expected to hear from Dave.

Speaker 2 (45:11):
You're a foot lotion and no, I don't don't answer that.

Speaker 4 (45:14):
Then I can't get that visual out of my head.

Speaker 2 (45:16):
It's like, didn't make yourself Wait what? Yeah? Dave said
all these things. I was like, but we got those drops?

Speaker 4 (45:23):
Oh yeah, all right, we got a week Oh yeah,
some gold yes, in about two minute conversation, a lot
of gold drops there.

Speaker 2 (45:31):
I was crying. That was incredible.

Speaker 4 (45:33):
All right.

Speaker 2 (45:34):
So we were watching some uh again receivers running routes
on air. Come on, come on a keem there it
is that man.

Speaker 4 (45:40):
He's big dude, so good. He is a big dude.
But it was a throwing is it? Does that count?

Speaker 2 (45:45):
And you're well, they makes the cat they got they
got on the page. You know that was that was
like the first one. Okay, okay, I'm curious, wait wait
does it count in that count?

Speaker 4 (45:53):
Oh? He make counts when he makes the catch, but
it doesn't win. He's three.

Speaker 2 (45:55):
Yeah, basically, you moved the gold post on everything.

Speaker 4 (45:58):
You can not saying on him.

Speaker 2 (46:00):
There, what's that?

Speaker 4 (46:01):
Butler?

Speaker 2 (46:02):
It's just a white Blaine in a lot of time.

Speaker 4 (46:03):
So Franklin him and who else? Are you down on it?
We could get rid of the Jordan. I wouldn't. I
wouldn't be sad bo Nicks. Why would I be mad?

Speaker 2 (46:11):
No, you're down on Bonnicks.

Speaker 3 (46:13):
That's the dumbest thing I've heard. And I've heard some
dumb things this morning. That's that's the dumbest one. No,
you're not getting rid of Bonix. But I mean, like,
there's there's some players that I'm like, we could you know,
we could do without. Okay, we can do without Tyler today? Again, man,
you're crabby today.

Speaker 2 (46:31):
He is very crabby today, you know. Don't you keep
it in a buck? This humanness?

Speaker 3 (46:38):
Okay, wait a minute, I'll be let me be back up. Then,
are you guys caping for Tyler Bedett? You want to
keep Tyler Bedey through.

Speaker 2 (46:44):
The course of preseason? Yeah, you're gonna need him.

Speaker 4 (46:46):
I'm talking about the fifty three.

Speaker 2 (46:48):
Well, we'll see, we'll see how it shakes out. Right now,
we don't know between him that serious. Right now, he
plays special teams between.

Speaker 4 (46:55):
Him and McLaughlin who makes your team. That's weal.

Speaker 2 (46:58):
I don't.

Speaker 4 (46:59):
I would rather have to day.

Speaker 2 (47:02):
If you go, I'm going for some return. I'm good
on win. I'm so good return ability, more productive.

Speaker 4 (47:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (47:12):
But the day I think running back as a fourth
running back.

Speaker 4 (47:16):
Yeah, but days pretty good in past pro But the.

Speaker 2 (47:19):
Day that's it fills more roles. He fills more roles
for you, I think.

Speaker 1 (47:25):
So.

Speaker 4 (47:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (47:25):
I mean, I guess you gotta have a fumbler. You
gotta have somebody that you gotta have somebody that doesn't
do any production. You know, guy sits out there on
third down. It doesn't doesn't do anything for you on.

Speaker 1 (47:35):
The text line, Ryan, love you brother. But I'm pretty
sure summer flannel doesn't exist. I think you're gonna die. Yeah, listen,
uh yeah, I'm not wearing the summer flannel out here.
I'm saying this is usually in the temperature control studios,
the palatial studios there at iHeart Radio. That's that's usually
where I'm wearing the summer flannel because again it's.

Speaker 2 (47:57):
You know, to the car to the studio, back to
the car.

Speaker 1 (48:00):
You don't want to fill out here. They wouldn't make
any sense. Now, I did wear the SPF jacket last
few days. That's a long sleeve SPF jacket. But that's
that's actually pretty cooling and not made a flannel. Why
are you staring at me like are you asleep? Oh,
I'm just I'm like, all right, I'm gonna try to
get your your summer flannel. Rationale here, the boy just

(48:20):
made a catch.

Speaker 2 (48:21):
You want to comment on it?

Speaker 4 (48:22):
Did leap both your guys both your boy.

Speaker 2 (48:24):
Right in front of you. If I commented look at that,
it loses some of his effectiveness and in fact.

Speaker 4 (48:31):
Like do we bring the Tavius Murray back.

Speaker 2 (48:32):
It's more so that you guys comments on it and
pointed out that makes me feel.

Speaker 4 (48:37):
Yeah, Butler, here's probably maybe twenty feet from us on
that catch. Yeah, that is a big dude. Man, He's
a big bath. That's why I was a wide receiver.

Speaker 2 (48:44):
That's why I was excited about him in the draft.
And that would be fun.

Speaker 4 (48:49):
That was And the overthrow battle is that wattle wattle?

Speaker 2 (48:54):
Yep, it's gonna be tough to overthrow him most of
the time. I'm gonna say it also was.

Speaker 4 (48:59):
Not going on.

Speaker 1 (48:59):
You're not going to wattles going like you know, seventy
percent there, so another text year. I actually think justin
Joe Lee is a diet version of Noah Fense. He's
got great speed when he gets the ball in space,
but he catches a lot of short passes and goes
down in first contact a lot. I think Joe Lee
is a better contested catch receiver. He has a ton
of upside, but he has to prove he can block
better to see the field more often.

Speaker 2 (49:19):
Actually, I pretty much agree with everything you said there.

Speaker 1 (49:22):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (49:22):
His contested catch stuff, especially last year, if you got
a chance to watch watch him in college, was really impressive.

Speaker 4 (49:28):
Yeah, I'm sorry, I'm watching Wattle Wattle here. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (49:36):
I mean he's a guy that you're hoping can develop,
you know, into that. I think right now he's not really.

Speaker 4 (49:41):
A guy you want in line.

Speaker 3 (49:43):
I think he's he's more like ingram Man off the line,
why you know, drink out heavy slot. But you know,
you're you're hoping that he can kind of grow into
that well rounded and I think that's part of the thing.

Speaker 2 (49:55):
They've got a bunch of bodies in this room. They're
hoping one of them is a.

Speaker 3 (49:58):
Guy that could be that three hundred and sixty degree
tight because you got a bunch of different guys to
do different things. Nobody that's at a three hundred and
sixty degree. You know, would baseball be a five tool player?
And you had enough of Lucas Croll too?

Speaker 4 (50:09):
How dare you besmirched the Hall of Famer?

Speaker 2 (50:11):
He's asking you a question? Do you want to answer it?

Speaker 4 (50:13):
I have complete the fifth if you want.

Speaker 2 (50:15):
I've had enough Lucas crowl there.

Speaker 4 (50:16):
Yes, yeah, I thought so, Yeah, I got right? Did
that answer? Toe tap right?

Speaker 2 (50:21):
I definitely was gonna point that one out.

Speaker 1 (50:22):
Okay, I'm just saying, yeah, yeah, Ben, just uh, it's
like Survivor Island out here.

Speaker 2 (50:29):
It's just like I'm done, I'm doing that.

Speaker 4 (50:31):
We're out on him.

Speaker 2 (50:32):
You got it now it's day three kind of there's
not even a competition. It's just like it's already over.

Speaker 3 (50:36):
Yeah, so cut it down. They do have a deep roster,
yes they do, which is what's real nice. It's not,
it's it's really cool. One of those things where you're
having to make decisions on you know, gosh, sure we
get a cut instead of like, well, uh when did
he hit the wlaver wire here?

Speaker 2 (50:53):
And see who's coming through? You know, well, Rick, this
was a lot of fun. Thanks for hanging out with
us for a few minutes.

Speaker 4 (50:58):
Hey man, it's good get to be here with you guys. Ben.
Are you taking a break now me? No, you guys
taking a break?

Speaker 2 (51:04):
No, we got take a breaking.

Speaker 4 (51:06):
I don't feel like I need to cheer Ben up
a little bit. Yeah, give me the break, morose. I'll
work on him. I'll work on him.

Speaker 2 (51:14):
It feels like he needs a hug, but I'm also
afraid of what he might do, Like he might hurt.
Somebody can hug him.

Speaker 4 (51:19):
I think you might cry if you get him hug.

Speaker 2 (51:21):
Actually, I think you're right.

Speaker 4 (51:22):
He's ready to break down right now.

Speaker 2 (51:23):
Yeah, just about reaching that point. Okay, cut guys, bring
the tear of my eyes. That's why that's usually bringing
you joy.

Speaker 4 (51:31):
All right.

Speaker 1 (51:31):
Susie Wards and I see her around, so we'll see
if she wants to jump on the show for.

Speaker 2 (51:36):
A few minutes. We're gonna be on till noon.

Speaker 1 (51:38):
We're live for Broncos Park powered by Common Spirits for
day two a Broncos training camp.

Speaker 2 (51:42):
