Speaker 1 (00:00):
Cam Broncos Country. Tonight's a special edition here on a Saturday.
Ryan Edwards, Benjamin Albright, Nick ferguson Cast of thousands, Well
of all sports are really fun guests over the next
three hours. If you're on your way down here to
Broncos Park Power by Common Spirit, well, we appreciate that.
You'll see us. You'll be sitting in the stands directly
across from us. I mean again, you might need monoculars,
(00:22):
but you'll see our tent, you'll see the Kawa sign.
You could stream us so like hey, you're listening in
your car on the radio, we appreciate that. But as
soon as you get into the stadium, were into the
Broncos Park Power at Common Spirit the practice field here,
you could stream us on your app so you could
listen along as we're talking to some Broncos alumni Susie Wartchin,
Rick Lewis. So it's gonna be a lot of fun
(00:44):
looking forward to it. Of course, we continue to break
down practice day two, see if Nick's defense can bounce
back after a bit of a rough outing yesterday against
the Broncos offense.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
Did you literally say that rough outing?
Speaker 3 (00:59):
Sorry? Uh no, you sound like you did though, what
rough outing are you referring to?
Speaker 1 (01:05):
Well, a couple of players, A couple of players had
a run the offense. The offense was the storyline yesterday.
They had a really nice day. And you imagine the
defense naturally, because of pride and because of the nicknames
you've given them that they're gonna want to show up
and do something to remind everybody who they are. So listen, Matt,
(01:28):
they've carried this team for years. It's natural to see
the other side of the ball come.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
That's fine when you say they, they meaning who?
Speaker 3 (01:36):
So I know we have full context of who they are,
So please help me out.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
Who are they?
Speaker 1 (01:42):
The defense?
Speaker 2 (01:43):
Oh? Oh, the defenses carry the team.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
Yes, see, that means that the standard or bet betty,
let me pull backinly just a second.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
The level of production hasn't been exactly what we wanted.
So when we see why I.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
Receive it as catch passes, slant routes, out routes, there's
a thunder.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
It's a prose from the fan base.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
Yes, Well, when there's a broken up pass that was
intended for a call of sudden, the only thunders of
pause come from the defensive players.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
So I mean I I know how it is. Ryan.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
It's been very hard for you over the past two years.
And I understand your struggle. I understand your struggle.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
It's real.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
It's it's real, right, and I feel your.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
Pain and and your inability to address the Broncos defense
and give them their rightful validation.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
I understand.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
I just did. I said to carry the team. No,
you know, Ben, how are you? I'm here president? Oh yeah,
it's already day four. We're here. Yeah, I got mean
some of us, yes, now now with day four, day four,
as I was reminded day two, but day four with acclimatization, yes, yes, No.
I said that to Evan Ingram yesterday. I was like, hey,
(02:55):
how is day one? He's like, Bro, we've been here
for three days. I'm bad. You're right, you've been out
in the sun for three days now, all right? Know Ben,
what was your takeaway from yesterday's practice?
Speaker 4 (03:06):
I mean, I thought the offense looked better at this
juncture than it has in recent years. I mean, the
bar has been fairly low throughout the lock Keenom you know,
Bridgewater years.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
You know, I think both sides of the ball look
pretty good. To be honest with you.
Speaker 4 (03:20):
I just think the offense looks better than it has
at this point. Again, we're three days to Indian shorts,
and so it's tough to make sweeping generalizations, but I
think Wada looks as advertised.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
Ingram looks like he's.
Speaker 4 (03:29):
Getting getting his number called with Web you know, running
the show there. And I'm looking forward to seeing them
in pads what they're able to do, you know, in
pads in preseason.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
If that momentum continues, I see.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
Here's something else to take in considerationship And this is
what things can be flawed from a visible standpoint in mislead.
Many like Ryan Evers with miss Ley yesterday. Now when
there's like a one on one period or Pascal period
seven oh seven, and even at team periods, seequarterback is
(04:00):
able to just hold the ball ten twelve, fifteen seconds,
right because guess what, See there's no officials out here
putting a cock on on the quarterback. They're saying, okay,
well that was a sack, right, So now the quarterback
can run escape the pocket the defenders in his face,
knowing as though you can't touch those guys. Now he's
(04:23):
able to throw the ball down the field to a
wide receiver who was covered who now uncovers, So it
gives a false representation of what we saw.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
It feels like it's impossible, probably to ask you to
be objective at this point. You're what I mean, it's impossible,
But just for a moment, just for a moment, as
somebody that has that around football for a long time,
has covered this team for a long time, did you
at least appreciate how aggressive the Broncos offense was in
their attacking yesterday. They were going deep early, Yes, they went,
(04:56):
they went right after the.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
I like that point. Okay, yes, I don't want to
undermine it, but I'm just.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
Saying that the blankets are very damp today, and I understand.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
I'm just saying, just keep it real about what he
saw I.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
Did on the walk walk up. Somebody in the line
was like, is that wet blake at all? Bride dice so.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
And they can follow the puddles of his feet as
he's looking.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
I'm not gonna I can't repeat on the air.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
When I sent back to him the head gesture.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
Like m ben came through a security I tell the
person that the woman he.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
Tried to give the cavity searched his security. I said, yeah,
you may want to search him.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
I'm glad you did, because he does the same thing.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
To be the airport, Oh much higher sex, by the way,
I should gets her cheeky and fun should cool.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
Next first, listen, Dandy gets it. I'm discussing one. No, listen, No,
you do that at the airport. You're like, what this
guy's doing? I'm like, are you kidding me? This is TSA.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
I told her, you say, ry them it was weird,
not funny.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Weird phrase youse these days?
Speaker 1 (05:52):
Not funny.
Speaker 3 (05:53):
Yes, I tell them, makes it, she warned him. And
shake his shoes too as well. But anyway, man, when
he washes his feet out here, so you know, were
good for him that he watched his feet opposed to Hey, look,
we're not getting into a cleanliness debate here.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
I'm gonna win that one.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
Whatever that's about it.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
You're gonna take a lot of L's ryan.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
But the whole idea was that you're absolutely right.
Speaker 3 (06:17):
Did we see a lot of chunk plays explosive plays?
And I think that that was driven by purpose because
what was the thing that we heard so much of
last year? The Broncos were in too many third and
long situations. Yes, the lacked explosive plays. Ain't no body
the way, just think about it. The fans were out
(06:38):
here yesterday, so they got to get those guys going.
So there were two players who seemed to be highlighted.
There was Marvin Mams because he caught a pass and
like everyone ran to one. And I told Ben the
one thing I noticed that he did, he pointed to
the heavens. Right, I've never seen Marvin Mams do that,
but he was pointing to the heavens to say God,
(06:58):
thank me for thank you for this moment because I'm
trying to get paid. Well.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
I like the fact that all the whole team was
rushing down there every time he made a play, right,
they were rushing down And I think, you know, trying
to love marve it up a little bit, because I
think everybody else he's to love him up will charitably
call it.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
Upset about the situation, you know, and why wouldn't you be.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
Every time you put you on the field, you produce,
they go out and train a first or a third
round or for another guy to take your spot, and then they.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
Don't want to pay you, you know, on top of it,
he's got a point.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
You know, it's you know what, I just thought of something.
It's not a perfect metaphor, but I just thought of it. Yeah,
of course, So the metaphors it's idea is that when
you said that, I thought about, Hey, you you're a
married man, right, and every day you do your wife
kind of gauges everything, and then now another man comes
into your house because yes, because you were not doing
(07:46):
the right thing.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
I just say it was perfect.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
I really hope you didn' put time. No, no, no.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
I just say it was perfect. I just said that.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
Soon as Ben said that in the comparison, I was like, huh,
wouldn't that be equivalent to another man coming to your
house because you're not meeting your needs as a husband,
So you're not just.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
Like Jayalen Wattle is like cuckholding.
Speaker 3 (08:09):
Way.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
This is already off the rails. And I didn't do it.
I did not.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
I did not introduce Marvin Mahams.
Speaker 3 (08:18):
This is his home, this is where he eats, this
is where he lays his head.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
Now there's another person coming in to take his place?
Speaker 3 (08:25):
Right?
Speaker 2 (08:25):
Can you not see that?
Speaker 5 (08:27):
See, Like I'm just saying.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
We gotta get dirty's.
Speaker 3 (08:37):
I'm wait, can you not visually look at that metaphor
for what his words? This is your place, this is
a homow ground. Now they brought someone else in to
take your place, and all if you heard all off
season is about this guy, Jalen Wattle, And this is
why we're going to see a different Marvin Maams. He's
got to take back his house.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
All right, five six six zero. I'm glad you know what, Nick,
I'm glad you're here. I know, I guess I'm all
the nice stuff a little later on, but I'm glad
you're here because because Bat, I'll say again, cheeky Shenanigan stuff.
Most of it, you know, usually actually his at least
his metaphors tend to make sense. But it's one thing
I'll give him on that. But again, you're very entertaining.
(09:21):
I appreciate you just saying.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
It may not make sense.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
It doesn't, but I just had to hit you with
the first thing that came to my mind.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
That's all.
Speaker 4 (09:29):
I appreciate that I get to to share a table
here with Ryan condescending Edwards there.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
Wow, I appreciate you here. You're entertaining this more it's
too earlier in the more I haven't had a monster yet.
It's too early for that kind of patronizing. Where you're
going to take the high ground on patronizing. I got
the one that.
Speaker 4 (09:50):
They introduced cuckolding into this thing fifteen minutes into the show.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
Well, you know, and if we'd had money on it,
I think everybody would have bet that it would have
been me. We got another hour till the family hour.
Kids are not up.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
Yet, He's just warming up. He has Ben hasn't officially awakened.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
Come let's go. I'm trying to get some of this
liquid death in me right now. We'll see if I
get there my day to a training camps. Come on,
I need to see some plays. I need something to
jazz me up here? Is that what it is? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (10:16):
You need some you need to be entertain the what
do you call the defense of Pete Thorton?
Speaker 1 (10:21):
No, I have a reference? Yes, loos like all morning long?
Is that data L Carr's character from God? Yeah, that's
what people are here for. Well, anyways, I'm glad you
could acknowledge that, and for me as somebody that's covered
with the team now for seventeen years. Not that I'm bragging,
but just to say that it's been a minute since
we've seen that kind of offensive performance on day one,
(10:45):
to see them not aggressive, see them not sort of
easing into camp. Oftentimes it is said the defense is
ahead of offense, especially early in camp. Is it not?
Speaker 3 (10:54):
It is true, But also know that when you come
out of training camp, there's a script, right, they go
over these plays. That's right as far as what they
want to do. And here's the thing. And I've seen
it as a coach and I've experienced it as a player.
The coaches know what defense you're in on the script
because it says it, just like defensively, you know their formations.
(11:16):
So I've seen coaches take advantage of a defense in
that moment. I'm not suggesting that's what we saw yesterday,
but I'm just wanting to bring you into the fold
and let you know that it's happened, especially on the
day if the offense isn't winning, right.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
So are you trying to make the argument that the
performance of the offense yesterday was Sean Payton and Davis
Webb trying to get off to a fast start because
it's been a big topic over the offense.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
He's a freaking Louie.
Speaker 3 (11:44):
Look at the two guys that seeming to be highlighted.
I mean Evan Ingram he was when he came here,
they were joker conversations and all of.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
The I'm like, where's the joker? Right? I said it
to you yesterday.
Speaker 3 (11:59):
Heker has been in Alkhema asylum. Right, we haven't seen
a joker, but we saw him yesterday and the fans
were applauding, and he was like, yes, this is what
we expected from Evan.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
So I'm confused. Whe's clay face.
Speaker 5 (12:12):
He's somewhere, He's somewhere in there.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
Maybe Lucas Croll was a clay face.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
I knit that.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
Yeah, Adam Tropman Scrow.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
His career is a body horror comedy. So we got
are on the text line five six six nine zero.
We got our first what the hell are you talking about? Nick?
Be the first of many. Uh So he says, it's
more Martinelli's in vodka. That's what he's drinking this. Actually
that probably wouldn't be terrible. That's not your brand, but I'm.
Speaker 2 (12:43):
Just it's not on brand for me.
Speaker 3 (12:45):
I'll take the Martinelli's, you can keep the vodka.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
Ryan got too many commiments for his big balls from
Rick Lewis, he's going to be extra condescending. Now, well
tell us true, actually that might that might be that
all the week. It might be yeah, yeah that actually,
now that you bring it up, I have had a
little more swagger, just gonna say, no, I'm kidding. Even
(13:07):
didn't notice it. No, by the way, are you wearing
socks today?
Speaker 3 (13:10):
Or no?
Speaker 1 (13:11):
Always wearing socks? Okay he is, No, No, you're not
always wearing socks. We know you're not always waring socks.
You even acknowledged sometimes you wear socks. Always wearing socks.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
You know he took his shoes off in the studio
the other day. He did not, Yes, he did, and
I had to sell it all. He had socks and the.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
Smell at all. Yeah, you know why socks.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
He was He was talking about the silver stitching in the.
Speaker 1 (13:32):
Sock, silver microfiber threading, antibacteria woven in the sock. That's
such a bit of bread. It is, it's right for
us all right.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
Now he's like, well, how much did you pay for
those socks? He's like eighteen dollars a pair.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
Eighteen dollars, yes, okay, eighteen dollars socks.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
He was counting twenty eight.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
That's ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
I don't have stinky feet.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
Okay, you can put powder in your in your it.
Speaker 4 (13:56):
Goes away with a gold bond, right yeah, Johnson and
john that stuff goes away.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
We had to get a shelf life on that. So
there are compete moments in practice. So you're saying script, Okay,
I'll ride with you on that. Still, there are moments
of compete where the Broncos offense won those battles. And
Jail Skinner's a guy that I think that we could
point out that probably would like to have a little
bit of better day today. Oh, Riley Moss had a
great PBu against Cortland Sudd and he was in phase.
(14:22):
He was fantastic, but he also got got a couple
of times.
Speaker 4 (14:26):
I had three quarters of a day that was great
and it all went away on one you know, one bomb.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
Is that remarkable? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (14:31):
But isn't that the NFL.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
It's the job.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
Yeah, that's the job. But here's the thing that I
love about that particular play with Riley Moss. What we
did not see is him reaching and grabbing, because that's
usually what he does when a receiver gets a step
on him. And that leads to not just an explosive,
but that's it's a penalty and that's where he has
to get away from. So that's gonna happen in practice.
(14:55):
Look when I first came into this league, I quickly
learned you haven't played long enough if you haven't been
run by a run over because guess what, Ryan, it's
going to happen, right.
Speaker 2 (15:09):
So people make a big deal out of that.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
But let's see how rolly Mollison bounced back in today's practice.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
Ryan has personal experience with it too.
Speaker 4 (15:17):
He got run by and run over at the comb
and there trying.
Speaker 1 (15:22):
To bring me down a couple of pegs, big balls edwards,
big balls edwards. Remind me how many times that drop happened. Oh,
it's happened. It's happened a lot over the course of
the week. And I'm sure when when Rick joins us
with that b A W L s well b A
l Z bowels, Yes, a couple of diversions.
Speaker 3 (15:42):
Yeah, I just gonna get his shirt like that. I
am not wet, Ryan, and then just putting the big balls.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
On the bat right like the softball nickname.
Speaker 2 (15:51):
Yes, yes, I'll pick it up.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
Your foot down I you know, I had some question
I was actually gonna ask you relative to Yeah, you
actually just threw me off. And then you know the
textures are commonic. Okay, So I don't know who are
you excited to watch today? Now, Nick, who are you
excited to watch today? For me?
Speaker 2 (16:12):
Tylo odeyetem? I mean that's a guy.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
Yeah, pads on.
Speaker 3 (16:17):
Well, even though the pads are not on, this is
a great time to work on your technique. This is
where you have to fine tune your technique when the
pads are not on. So once the pads come on,
now you can fire those pistons and now get even
and get your hit even anything, Now get to the quarterback.
But it's about leverage, using your hands and quickness. And
(16:41):
he was one of those guys that I was really
excited when the Broncos picked him up because I said, well,
you add him to a defensive line with with Zach
Allen and you missing John Franklin Myers. So everyone's talking about, well,
who's gonna fill that that boy? I think he has
the best chance of filling that voy based on his
skill set and the energy that he brings to the team.
Speaker 4 (17:03):
How about you, man, Well, A couple of people, you know,
Jada Baron, where does he fit in with this? Is
he gonna edge one of these guys off the roster eventually?
With you with Moss or j Qui mcmillion. I want
to see the down roster receivers. Who's gonna be that
third guy, Who's gonna be the guy that steps up
and is the is the third guy?
Speaker 1 (17:19):
And then I'm gonna be honest, man Alinger in Stidham,
that feels a lot closer than perhaps that we might
have fought. They both had a couple of ice moments yesterday. Yeah, yeah,
I agree with you that you wonder what Stidham and
Ellinger if it's even does that you like all to
the cheaper option. That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (17:37):
I mean, I don't know, but that's that's one of
those things I think, you know, kind of keeping an
eye on how the rep distribution goes there and the
preseason is.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
Probably gonna be one of the bigger determiners, I imagine
more more than likely.
Speaker 4 (17:47):
But I mean, as we're out here today, those are
things I'm all all going to be keep an eye on.
You know, it's just that third fourth receiver who's that
gonna be you know that that's the third fourth corner.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
Who's that? Who's that gonna be?
Speaker 3 (17:57):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (17:57):
And then you know we talked about the safety is
a little bit skinned skinned needs to bounce back. Yeah,
you know, if he's gonna.
Speaker 4 (18:01):
Make this roster and you know, go from there.
Speaker 1 (18:05):
I'd like to see much of the chagrin of Nick Fergers.
So I'd like to see the offense string another day here.
You just naturally believe, based on the app and flow
of these things, the defense is going to have a
couple of big moments today.
Speaker 3 (18:18):
All right, listen, right, Don't get me wrong, man, I'm
not down on this offense in that particular way. I
just know how a lot of these things operate. But
but you're absolutely right to see the offense show that
they can put back to back practices together. It is important,
not for us, it's important for them. That's it, right,
It's important for them to see and know that here's.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
What we are capable of doing.
Speaker 3 (18:43):
And from OTA's to Minicham to now, we've seen this
offense look a little different. There's a little more pre
snap movement, more than we've ever seen with Sean Pate
because usually it's just like break the huddle, line up
and go. Now there's a little motion to it.
Speaker 1 (19:00):
Oh that one with mems listen.
Speaker 3 (19:02):
Okay, So my football mind turns on when I see that.
And the first thing that comes to me like, who's
the motion guy? Because they're using him as a carrot
to get the attention of the defense. And then they're
kind of run like a bubble screen to draw you
to move you out of position, and they run something
else like I was standing with Nate Jackson yesterday and
(19:23):
they run what we call double dino, where that means
you have two posts, right, but these teams find different
ways and created ways to run it. You had a
receiver on the right side that pulled Jo Skinner away,
pulled his eyes, and Evon Ingram ran.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
The other posts.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
So I was thinking like, well, as a safety, you
have to realize that look at the formation and say, well,
who's my threat, right? And if Abon Ingram is in
a position when he can threat, you better make sure
you have enough depth in your eyes are there. So
these are the problems and it's crazy that at this
stage of his career, Joe Skinner.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
Is still having those types of issues.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
I will say three days in that.
Speaker 4 (20:04):
You know, people ask what the Davis Web effect is,
and I would say tempo in motion.
Speaker 1 (20:08):
I mean you can see it, and those are there's.
Speaker 4 (20:10):
A complaints you know, I've talked about on the show
quite a bit, you know, with this offense over the
last couple of years, as it's a bit archaic, and
the fact that the motion is lacking and the tempo
is lacking at times, and it catches fire when they
do it. I mean we see it the fourth quarter,
whether it was and it's such as Bow, we saw
the Russ two. You know, you start going up tempo
on that fourth quarter, they starts cooking. And so I
hopefully we'll see a little bit, a little bit more
(20:31):
of that sprinkle throughout these games. It looks like they're
practicing that. Now we'll see what the implementation is.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
A question here for you, Nick, is it true he
might see Baron playing safety?
Speaker 3 (20:40):
Well, I don't I don't know how true that is,
but I would like to see him do that because
it gives you a multitude of different things. If you
advanced Joseph that you can toss at opposing teams, but
also it helps to give you know, Joddy Barron some
experience at the safety position. Knowing is that as though
Brendon Joe is on expiring deal, so you can start
(21:02):
to experiment. Because we've all talked about, well, what's gonna
happen with Ja Kwan Riley and John A. Maybe that's
not the plan, right, because it's having a corner who
has cover skills that you can play at the safety position.
Once again, that's the several jobs one check, right, so
(21:23):
we have to understand how this thing works out. But
also it gives John D. Barron an opportunity to get
on the field because you can move Brendan Jones in
a box as an extra linebacker because we don't know
what Red Murdoch is going to do. Good point, we're
projecting and predicting, but what happens in the game, someone
gets nicked up, you may need to find players who
(21:44):
can adjust and this may be a excellent time for him.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
And this is a good opportunity during the course of
training camp and maybe even into the preseason where you
get a chance to get to get those looks out
there to see how they respond. And then we talked
about you know, you put on certain things on script. Okay,
you're gonna be an leverage situation. What's that going to
look like? How do you respond to it? If you fail? Okay,
opportunity to learn, maybe you succeed. We got a chance
to learn either way.
Speaker 3 (22:07):
But here's the other thing that I love about the
preseason that bleeds into the regular season. Even though teams
don't really show a lot of what they do, they
show you certain things and they try to force you
to prepare form during the season.
Speaker 2 (22:21):
So let's just.
Speaker 3 (22:21):
Say I wouldn't be shocked if we saw Jade Baron
have a couple of plays in preseason just to get
and prepare just so the first couple of opponents that
the Broncos face in the first four weeks, they have
to prepare for that defensively. Because we always talk about
the offensive side of the ball and how that they
can do the same thing. You now have to do
(22:42):
it defensively as well.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
I let we ask you a quick question. I'll ask
you've been start with this. If Jade Baron ends up
being a starting safety for you, how do you think
fans are going to react to that? Based on what
the expectations were of the pick at twentieth overall last year.
Speaker 4 (22:57):
Well, if he ends up biggest starting safety, we're asking
what happened to one of the other two safeties, Well.
Speaker 1 (23:01):
Brandon Jones. This is this would be a telling her
who he's gonna I mean, he as long as he's upright,
he's he's here, yeah, right, and he's earned that right.
They have to make a decision on Brandon Jones contract.
So this is more of a we've been talking about
all off season Riley Moss and Jayawan McMillan. So now
we can maybe well vice conversations before going to ask
you a couple of questions.
Speaker 4 (23:22):
Did he default into that because he wasn't good enough
at corner but he was good enough at safety?
Speaker 1 (23:25):
Like the dam asking both those questions. Okay, then I
think you're saying we got a starter in safety.
Speaker 4 (23:30):
Like I get it just gonna be you know, the
the naysayers, you know, hater radio is gonna be down
there doing with doing what they do, and he was
to do this, so it's a buster or whatever, trying
to run George Peyton out of town again.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
But in reality, you got a starter, Like what does
the matter? You got a starter?
Speaker 2 (23:44):
Right?
Speaker 1 (23:45):
Would you can't like, would you care if.
Speaker 4 (23:46):
You drafted a guy to be an inside backer.
Speaker 1 (23:48):
He became an outside or vice versa starter. No, so
his position value sort of. But at the end of
the day, it's a starter. Like, at the end of
the day, it's a starter.
Speaker 4 (23:57):
And so I I, you know, if he's a quality starter,
then I I don't think you saying anything now if
he's just got to put in there because he'd he
failed somewhere else. Man, I think you're having an honest,
you know, a conversation about okay, what do we do.
Speaker 1 (24:07):
But you know, if he.
Speaker 4 (24:08):
Starts off at corner and he's just a better fit
of safety, so bit you know, Kajack converted to safety
later in his career, you know, but that's later in his.
Speaker 1 (24:14):
Career when the speed stuff was Chris Harris went the
other way.
Speaker 4 (24:18):
He went from planning safety in college to be in
a you know, to revolutionizing the nickel corner spot. So
I think at the end of the day, you get
a starter, you get a starter.
Speaker 1 (24:24):
Like I'm not too worried about it. Okay, I'll ask
you the same question, Nick. We got to a quick break,
But I'll ask you the same question on the other
side about the sort of positional value and what fans
want to sign as we are off and rolling here
on day two of Broncos training camp live from Broncos
Park powered by Common Spirits, Ryan Edward's, Benjamin all Bright,
Nick Ferguson will be right back. Okay, way day two
(24:49):
of Broncos training camp. Some players making their way out
onto the field Benjamin Albright, Nick Ferguson and Ryan Edwards.
We're gonna have Rick Lewis for Susie Ward. It coming
along here just a little bit. We'll be out till noon.
So if again, if you're making your way down to
practice field, then I mean, that's awesome and get a
chance to stream us maybe so while you're sitting in
(25:09):
the sands, you'll be scary straight at our tent here
the KOA sign very visible. Or of course if you're
just at home or around the world, you can stream
us on the completely free and totally awesome iHeartRadio app,
which you can also find our podcast Broncos Country, Tonight,
ko Sports, et cetera. All there on demand, totally free,
very cool app. I highly recommend. Okay, Nick, we were
talking about Johny Barron. We got a lot of texts
(25:30):
on Johnny barn and we'll get to those here in
a second. But I have been about how fans would
react if ultimately there's a bit of a pivot. Now
we look, Ji Barron was brought in with the belief
that he has versatility. He has the position versatil which
is a very valuable thing in the NFL to have,
especially a defensive back. We saw nickimn Worry, for example
with the Seattle Seahawks. Different type of player, but positional versatility.
(25:52):
That's a good thing to have. But in this case,
people have been wondering, well, how does he fit in
because you basically have you brought back your Nickel McMillan.
Riley Moss looks like a starting caliber cornerback, which is
a good thing, and of course Patrick Tenne's who he is,
so it really would be a pivot to safety if
a Oltilly ended up being the case.
Speaker 3 (26:12):
I'd agree with Ben in this situation because who cares
You draft him in the first round for a particular reason,
and you think that when guys are drafted in the
first round, you want them to play and play significantly.
So if somehow he works himself into that particular role
as being a part time corner, part time Nickel, part
(26:33):
time lover, if you want to look at it that way.
Speaker 1 (26:37):
Part time lover.
Speaker 2 (26:38):
Yes, I just had to work that in Wow.
Speaker 3 (26:41):
But the whole idea is getting him on the field,
and fans can be upset as much as it wants to,
because you setting, his versatility was the reason why he
was taken right and when we look at the way
that offenses now run their schemes with eleven personnel, you
need to have a lot of guys, You need to.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
Have interchangeable pieces.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
And we don't know right now what's going to happen
with Riley Moss in his contract, Jakwan McMillan in his contract,
So all of this could be water under the bridge
and a conversation about nothing, because who's going to say
that if one of those who guys leave, he doesn't
slip right into that particular spot.
Speaker 1 (27:21):
I don't think i'd have a problem with it. I
think to Ben's point, to your point, if he's a
starter on your team, what are we talking about here?
And it'll be an affordable contract. You're certainly looking to
have more affordable contracts in starting positions going forward because.
Speaker 3 (27:36):
Contract and the way that they're paying quarterbacks. Maybe not
Baker Mayfield, but the way they're paying quarterbacks, we're getting
into the forty to fifty a year area.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
And there will be people to Ben's point also, there
will be people out there, especially in the media, otherwise
that we'll frame it as he failed at securing a
starting corner job, like people will frame that. I don't
think that's appropriate, or.
Speaker 3 (28:01):
For contributing to the team in a positive way. If
the answer to that question is yes, then what are
we beefing about. I mean, we could take something really
small and try to blow it up, but ideas that
is he contributing. And here's another thing. When you're on
the very talented defense that they have, it may be
(28:21):
hard to break in right. So to me, you got
to credit the defense. You gotta credit George Payton. You
got a credit to staff for drafting and developing gods.
Because it's better to have that guy and not use
him than need him and not have him.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
A couple of texts here five six, six nine zero Yes, Ben, Yes,
Ben in all caps, I mean yeah, as we should
start all art. It doesn't matter that Baron plays cornerbacker, safety.
You draft good players regardless of where they play, and
if you get a starting caliber player who earns a
second contract with the team, then you take that every
time you have the opportunity.
Speaker 4 (28:55):
Yeah, I mean, you know, end of the day, you
get a starter, and you get a starter like you
can't you can't really, you know, I can't really complain about.
Speaker 1 (29:01):
That question here, A jail skinner is not going to
make this roster. Than who exactly do you expect to
be the backup at safety Tyson Anderson, well, Jevon Key
Anderson or the rookie that they drafted as well?
Speaker 2 (29:15):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (29:16):
Guy, yeah, I'll see here. I think a lot has
been made about the loss of JFM over the offseason,
but this but is this Sorry imst misunderstand that. But anyways, yeah,
I think asking about losing PJ Lock, which, by the way,
hopefully he's okay, So he got came a little bit
up there with the Dallas Cowboys. Yeah, I mean, and
(29:36):
a lot has been made about the loss of JAFFM,
but he's a starter. PJ Lock was a rotational player
for you.
Speaker 2 (29:41):
Well listen.
Speaker 3 (29:42):
They also look at what JFM did over his time
at the Denver Broncos.
Speaker 2 (29:47):
His first year seven sacks, last year seven and a half.
Speaker 3 (29:50):
That's fourteen and a half sacks from an interior defensive lineman,
not accounting for all the other sacks that he helped
with because his pression penetration. He contributed to John Deakoba,
Nick Benito, and Zach Allen. So we can't just overlook
that and said, oh, that's nothing. Now, now you're asking
maybe three to four guys to try to come in
(30:11):
and give you that same amount of production. And everyone's like,
well a Laza Rique is going to be that guy
that steps in.
Speaker 2 (30:17):
And does that.
Speaker 3 (30:18):
If you don't know that he hasn't played enough and
we hadn't seen a lot of him playing to say
that we can truly say that he is going to
give that level of production.
Speaker 1 (30:30):
All Right, We've talked to a lot of defense. Now
I'm going to bring up a topic that is a
little foreign to you. When I was about to ask
you mean me, well, just you know, I know that
it's uncomfortable for you. We get into the offense, You're like,
oh my, got here we go again. But I want
to talk about JK. Dobbins for a second. Yeah, you
get a really fun press conference. Yesterday. I met Nate
on the show yesterday, and he did not like JK.
(30:53):
Dobbins talking openly about his expectation to play seventeen games
be healthy for the first time his career. He thought
he was, Uh, I don't know. I guess maybe daring
the football gods a bit when you when you talk
openly about being Hey, I'm going to be healthy. I'm
going to pinky swear the entire media. I will buy
(31:14):
you all drinks, so buy you dress.
Speaker 2 (31:16):
I don't think he said. I don't think he said that.
Speaker 1 (31:18):
You're adding that. He said that I'd let you're here
to to back me up because otherwise Nick wouldn't have
believe me, believes you though anyways, I work.
Speaker 2 (31:27):
With him all the time. What is That's what it is.
Speaker 1 (31:29):
But you earned a certain credibility.
Speaker 3 (31:32):
Yes, I would.
Speaker 1 (31:34):
Everybody says about you.
Speaker 2 (31:34):
Yeah, I wouldn't go that far. Many I wouldn't go
that far.
Speaker 1 (31:39):
Yes, guys walked right into it.
Speaker 3 (31:40):
Yes, But the idea is that that's what you want
to say, right. You want to say that you can
do those things, and you want to tempt faith because
in this case, yes, do you want to be icarous
and fly too close to the son? Yes, you want
to have that type of mentality because you have not
done that, and that's been the narrative ever since Baltimore
(32:01):
the Chargers and what we saw last year, right.
Speaker 2 (32:04):
Is that not the reason R J. Harvey was drafted?
Speaker 3 (32:08):
Was that not the reason Jonah Coleman was So I'm
all for it because if he's actually able to play
seventeen eighteen, it's at twenty one plus games. So I'm
projecting the you know, pushing the Broncos for it. Then
that means as though this offense will therefore have three
good running backs similar to what I experienced here on
(32:28):
the Mike Shenahan, and that means everything's working well for
the offense. And it's not just the first couple of
days we're seeing explosive plays. Now we're seeing more explosive
plays from the offense. So yes, tell everyone that, buy
everyone drinks.
Speaker 1 (32:45):
I like it too, because you're you're sort of speaking
it into existence. Yes, right, it's power positive thinking. I
think for Nate it was more of a it's a win,
not if in the NFL you're gonna get hurt, And
for a guy that has dealt with those kinds of injuries,
tempting fate is the thing that he brought up. Then,
I mean that's but again I come back to like
(33:07):
at this point, give yourself every opportunity, including thinking about
it in terms of what you can do rather than
what you can't. Yeah, and I think there's something too.
I mean you mentioned a power positive thinking. I think
there is something.
Speaker 4 (33:18):
I think there's also like a level of accountability to that,
like acknowledging it and having sort of that accountability in
place there as far as that stuff goes.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
I you know, I'm not a I'm not a positive
thinker you know, view point in time. Ever, No, I
think there's a negative thinking think I'm gonna think it.
But now, I mean I.
Speaker 4 (33:33):
Don't believe I don't buy into that per se. But
I think accepting the standard.
Speaker 1 (33:37):
And vocalizing the standard and vocalized and accountability, I am
for that. And so I think that's I think that
you know, in that case before that you're.
Speaker 3 (33:43):
Not for a positive positive visualization.
Speaker 4 (33:47):
That's stuff's just never worked for me. I like, you know,
I'm I think I know why. Well what I mean,
you can call it wishful thinking too. I mean, at
the end of the day, like, okay, cool, Like I'm
just I'm a doer, not a thinker.
Speaker 3 (33:58):
But Ryan, have you had any wish for thinking where
you envisioned something loans are and you go towards it?
Speaker 4 (34:05):
Of course, Okay, I just I just go do it,
like I don't need to sit there and like meditate
or revision journal it or you know whatever, like at the.
Speaker 3 (34:11):
End of the day before you think. I mean, that's
why you think it, so you do it, and that's
what he's suggesting. But I know how hard that could
be when your shoes can be so soaked.
Speaker 1 (34:22):
Do you see how uncomfortable is right now, very very
highly uncomfortable visioning in his chair, this idea of positivity,
you know, the aura around letting love it.
Speaker 5 (34:32):
It's hard, Yes, it's actually it's all d Yeah.
Speaker 1 (34:43):
Man, I agree with everything you said, Nick about about
what the softins is with him out there, and we
saw it that they are are legitimate run threats and
whatever expectation. We certainly had a lot of fun watching
the deep passes yesterday. You're right, the crowd went nuts
with a lot of that. The biggest successes ultimately will
be found in the trenches. Once again, it almost always is.
(35:05):
And if you can establish dominance on the line of scrimmage.
Really both sides of the ball, you're gonna win a
lot of games.
Speaker 3 (35:11):
Well, we already know what the Broncos are as far
as the defense is concerned. We're talking about back to
back years of leading the NFL in sacks and they
are tempting face saying, hey, listen, they're looking to do
it again. So knowing as though you have a great
defense that can help you out and then if you
stumble at any point, they've proven that they can pull
(35:32):
you up by most straps and kind of drag you along.
But if this offense turns into a type of offense
where we're going like wow, this offense is so much
better than the defense, and like, well we wouldn't have
saying that two years ago.
Speaker 2 (35:47):
That means, as though, the experiment.
Speaker 3 (35:49):
That is now taking place here with the Denver Broncos
where the play calling has been given to Davis Web,
something none of us ever thought would happen. And Sam
Peyton win give that up. That's a thing of beauty.
I mean, I just saw David's Web, you know, run
on a couple of express and get him said, get
his mind right.
Speaker 2 (36:07):
Yeah, So that's what he was doing.
Speaker 3 (36:08):
Bringing his own tempo, that's right, he was creating his
positive visualization of practice.
Speaker 1 (36:14):
Or he was just getting a feel absent again. Nah, Yeah,
it feels like Ben doesn't understand anything.
Speaker 2 (36:18):
You're oh, he does it.
Speaker 3 (36:19):
It's it's it's hard way when you build up this
thick glass of negativity, it's hard for positive things to finistrate.
Some people like bullproof clash.
Speaker 1 (36:30):
I don't think that's what you're saying. I don't think.
I don't think that's a metaphor. I think you completely
missed the point. But that's okay, that's okay. How about
you Yesterday Ben was Davis Webb. That's a good question, honestly.
I mean, I don't know the answer to that.
Speaker 4 (36:44):
I think he could see some things that we haven't
been done before, and the logical assumption is that those
are the new variable, which is Davis Webb. You know,
the tempo of the motion, things like that, So I think,
you know, I think you can probably assign that to him.
Speaker 1 (36:57):
I'm not you know, Sean Payton had three years or
whatever to do that.
Speaker 4 (37:00):
We didn't see any of that, so you know, I
think it's safe to make an assumption there.
Speaker 1 (37:05):
Well, I mean right to to Nix's point, it might
might be a little bit of a script, right, you're
trying to highlight or maybe showcase a bit. Also, again,
let's see what happens if you're aggressive, And that's what
they did, Like we get certain looks, let's just go
for it. It does feel like often times we ease into
camp a little bit too much, especially on offense. The
(37:26):
Broncos ease into things, and then we sit here and go, well,
all right, let's see how they did tomorrow. You know,
maybe they can strain a couple of days together with
maybe five days into camp because the defense is just
so good and that and I said that yesterday is like,
while we get into this iron sharpens iron, the offense
will only be better for the fact that they're going
against this elite defense, and the elite defense is winning
because they are that an elite defense. But and of
(37:50):
course there's always the conversation if the offense is succeeding,
does that mean the defense is struggling. It's not always
the case. In this case, there's compete moments and the
offense and to be in the better of them.
Speaker 3 (37:59):
Ryan of word is compete, right, you want to see
somewhat of a tug of war on the play to
play day to day basis, where hey, the offense did this,
defense did this?
Speaker 2 (38:11):
Because that's camp or is that not the game itself?
Speaker 3 (38:15):
Because how many games did we saw we saw last
year where it was just that and the Broncos came
out at the halftime and they didn't really do anything,
and then we hit the fourth quarter with about nine
minutes and then there was this six offensive explosions. That
is what happens in games. That's what happens in practice,
and ideas that you want to make sure that you
(38:37):
are getting better. That's at the end of the day,
no matter what we see at practice, no matter how
much the fans share, which they're cheering, guess what an
offensive player, I don't know who that is?
Speaker 4 (38:52):
Well sixty eighty eight, okay, yeah, scare bowls for a
second therapy watch Yes, so once again, it's that.
Speaker 1 (39:00):
Actually, that's Gavin Ortega.
Speaker 3 (39:03):
That's that's the idea of getting them going. And see
that within itself is a little orchestrated because you saying
the rookies out there to get everyone going, that's kind
of the thing. So so so they're buttered buttering them up,
trying to turn up the volume for the offense today,
and I like it.
Speaker 2 (39:19):
I like it.
Speaker 1 (39:20):
I think the fans got excited by the way. You say,
nobody cheer for anything defensive. Yesterday Corina Reid had a
strip fumble recovery.
Speaker 3 (39:28):
You see, Ryans. I didn't say they didn't cheer. I
said the cheer wasn't as loud. So if you're going
to repeat something I'm saying and push it out to
the audience, make sure you do it right. Because some
Texters are out there driving somewhere in Arizona, so well.
Speaker 2 (39:45):
I mean, don't do that.
Speaker 3 (39:48):
They're listening.
Speaker 1 (39:48):
They're listening.
Speaker 3 (39:50):
They're listening, and they're screaming at their radio, going, yeah,
Ryan's right, Nicka saying no, there was. There were cheers,
but not as out of cheers for the defense as
it was for the office. But I understand it's a
quarterback driven league.
Speaker 2 (40:06):
As they say, let me, let.
Speaker 1 (40:07):
Me ask you just get a surface area, a fumble,
a strip fumble in the middle of the field recovered
by the defense. It's a nice play, fifty yard touchdown bomb.
Which do you think, just from a fans perspective, is
a is a cooler play a bigger player.
Speaker 3 (40:22):
Well, I mean for for the fans that they like
the like stag the long ball, right, isn't that the quote?
Speaker 2 (40:31):
Yes so so yes, so they love that.
Speaker 3 (40:33):
Like no one wants to see a baseball score in
the football game except for me and probably my son.
Speaker 2 (40:41):
Right, we love defense.
Speaker 1 (40:43):
They like defense, offense and defense. You gotta stop points,
you gotta score points.
Speaker 2 (40:48):
Yes, well, very true, all of that is true. Someone's
got to win the game, right.
Speaker 1 (40:53):
That's right. Could you get out of this?
Speaker 4 (40:58):
Yes, come on, right, don't do that if you don't
want me to eat?
Speaker 1 (41:03):
Yes, all right? Double of text here five six six
nine zero. Well, Ben did have an Emo phase where
he looked like Brendon Yuri, so he's naturally gonna have
negative thoughts all the time. He still kind of has
the Brennan Yuri thing. But yeah, see he he does
have kind of an emo eternal emo phase.
Speaker 3 (41:22):
It's hard when when when hate is in your blood, man,
it's hard. Even if he gave Ben a blood, a
blood transfusion, people gave it to get the hate out
of his blood, it'd be difficult.
Speaker 1 (41:32):
Is that true? I mean the stuff out of his blood?
What magic Johnson got the got the stuff. I've got
the stuff out of his blood.
Speaker 2 (41:42):
Stuff, this stuff, that's what stuff.
Speaker 1 (41:47):
Drink some more monster, all right. Of course, Davis web
experience is going very well. It's just one year in Denver.
So what happens after that? And why am I worried
about next year already? That's funny. Well, you don't want
to too far ahead of these things. One practice does
not a season make. Although I did see a lot
of takes on Twitter yesterday about Super Bowls and such.
(42:08):
After the offense had a good day out here, I
feel like we can we can hang in there for
a little bit longer. Like I said, I expect the
defense to bounce back and that that they had a
bad day. So they really did, and I was kind
of having fun at the beginning of the show. The
defense didn't have a bad day. There were some explosive
plays on offense. Now is that a breakdown and coverage?
(42:29):
Is that again an offensive player winning their matchup? You know?
Or or schematically is that Hey, offenses, we're gonna give
the defense this look, let's see what they do with it.
There's a multiple of reasons why things happen out of here,
a training camp. But again we usually don't get into
the other layers of it. We usually look at at
a very surface level of like, oh, well J. L.
Skinner is just not very good because he keeps getting
(42:51):
beats Like things like that get said.
Speaker 2 (42:53):
Well, it's a combination of both things.
Speaker 3 (42:55):
But some things can actually be true because you have
certain things that you want to work hard and to. Yesterday,
the Broncos wanted to showcase their ability to fill the
ball down the field for plays more than fifteen yards,
and just to let people know, an exposive play from
a passing game standpoint is anything over eight yards, okay,
(43:17):
and from an explosive from a run standpoint, it's anything
over five yards. But the Broncos clearly wanted to display that.
That's what they wanted to show. Okay, well, let's work
on a couple of these plays, and let's just see
if we're gonna attack the defense and layers, and then
everything is building. You want to build on everything else
moving forward. And there is a case that guys they
(43:39):
get caught up in the safeties. You have to make
sure that your eyes are in the right place, because
sometimes you can put yourself in bad position trying to
anticipate where the offense is going to go.
Speaker 2 (43:50):
And this is kind of the downside.
Speaker 3 (43:52):
Of practicing against your offense or the same offense and
the players over and over again. You get used to
certain things you started up and plays, and then next
thing you know, there's an explosive being thrown behind you.
Speaker 2 (44:04):
Then when you get in the meeting room, the coaches
got the clicker.
Speaker 3 (44:07):
Hey, hey, hey, Ryan, Ryan, Ands, can you tell me
what you're doing here?
Speaker 2 (44:11):
Now?
Speaker 3 (44:12):
It's it's third and whatever. It's third in the bus ride,
so you know you need to back here behind up right.
We need to make sure that you keep everything in
front of you and not trying to make it play
Ali Raheem Morris right put putting your knees like a
bitemin all right before everyone else?
Speaker 1 (44:30):
Wow, Never have I ever Wow, shade, never have I ever?
Speaker 3 (44:35):
At It's a lot of shade over here.
Speaker 1 (44:38):
I feel like I'm in the shade store. You love
it in the dark though you were born.
Speaker 3 (44:44):
Yeah, I'm surprised that he doesn't have on a on
a black shirt right now. It is.
Speaker 1 (44:48):
Yes, this is unseasonably light for you. It was available
because I was run out the door. Yeah, Okay, didn't
sleep last night? Okay, long sleeve? Do you tease me
about wearing flannel and layers? Like you're going long sleeve?
It was what fabric is this? So it's like a
waffle shirt? Hey, what's have roscot to see you? Okay,
(45:10):
a waffle shirt?
Speaker 2 (45:12):
It's very relaxing.
Speaker 1 (45:14):
Why are you sleeping? Man? I'll take that off here.
Speaker 2 (45:17):
Okay he's a bampire. Not Yes, you can't sleep, that's what?
Speaker 1 (45:23):
Okay? Fair enough?
Speaker 3 (45:25):
Five?
Speaker 1 (45:25):
Six, six nights zero? How did h well? Ben? How
did you think bon Nix looked yesterday? We were pretty good.
Speaker 4 (45:32):
You know, the ankle didn't seem to be bothered him
at all.
Speaker 1 (45:34):
You know, most of the most of the throws.
Speaker 4 (45:36):
There were a couple that were, you know a little
bit off, but most of the throws where they needed
to be, So, you know, I thought it looked pretty
good for a third day of camp.
Speaker 1 (45:44):
I liked a little bit of the quick game that
they had with Jaylen Waddle early on in some of
those drives. That was that's exciting to see.
Speaker 4 (45:51):
Yeah, And I like the idea of getting the ball
in his hands let him create after the catch too,
Like that's that's something that's kind of also been missing
out of this offense. You know, it's it's just really
not something that's been there last for years. And I'm
hoping we have some of those concepts that allow for
guys like camera mimes to to get the ball in
her hands and be able to create as a dB.
Speaker 1 (46:07):
You're lining up against Jalen Wattle, what's your mindset?
Speaker 3 (46:11):
You really like you need help? Yes, I'm looking for
my help to see the way the safety is and
I'm gonna tell the safety hey, listen, hey, depending on
if he's on the ball, off the.
Speaker 2 (46:23):
Ball, and you determine what I do.
Speaker 3 (46:25):
Now, I'm gonna I'm a quick jamming, right, So if
I quick jamming, make sure that you look here first.
And that's the thing that a change that pays from
a speed standpoint does, And that's the reason why the
Broncos had tried last year they finally got jail Wattle
because they wanted to change.
Speaker 2 (46:44):
They wanted a.
Speaker 3 (46:44):
Guy who had that speed that can stop and start,
a guy that who can threaten the defense and draw
that attention allow everyone else to work. That's exactly who
he is, and basically he's kind of like a decoy right.
If the Broncos could get him going, they can get
the defense focusing on him where they can do a
(47:06):
multitude or different things. And if you get him going
early in the quick game, now you think about the
run after catch. Now you started to set things up.
This is where we have seen we haven't seen rather
from Sean where you are setting plays up.
Speaker 2 (47:21):
You're running one to play to set up another one.
Speaker 3 (47:23):
Because usually you run the play, it's not successful and
then we don't see that play again. But now with
Davids Web calling the plays, I'm hoping that there's a
build upon every single play.
Speaker 1 (47:35):
