Speaker 1 (00:00):
Glorious hair beard commodation. Is your microphone not working? There?
It is? But I was talking to him. You okay,
Well I see how it is. Man. You guys need
me to leave? I can. I can just leave you
guys can there's the door if you want to, don't.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
I was just trying to whisper something too young, young seegers.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
That's all you You have a dog? No, I don't.
You used to have a dog?
Speaker 2 (00:26):
You to?
Speaker 1 (00:26):
Okay, yes, I can't remember if Zach has a dog
or not. But as he just walks out there for
a minute, I my dog is get the weirdest behavior
going on all of a sudden. Well, your dog is
still in its youth stages. Yeah, she's five months old.
She has she has this behavior that no other dog
that I've ever had has. Well put that into context.
(00:49):
So after she does her business on the grass, she
has to, like she does her business, she has to
stop and admire her work. Oh and I'm gonna just
try to see if anyone else has ever had a
dog that does this, because I, like, I've never seen this.
(01:10):
I don't Yeah, I guess I don't know. Like like
she's looking back like she's going she goes back because
I go to, you know, clean it up, and she
looks back and she's like looking back at me like
she's proud of the amount. But it is there or something.
I don't know. I've just so I'm looking for what
that dog.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
Is seeking to do in that moment, is ensuring that
you are going to pick up her her drop.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Well, I'm gonna take care of that anyway, but this
is not like that. She's it's weird. I don't know
how to explain this, but it's just one of these
things because I had to walk it right before I
came over here, and it's she keeps doing it, and
I've noticed this of late, and then I really noticed
it today.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
Well, Ben, I think there's two things. Your dog want
to make sure that you're picking it up too. She's
looking back to make sure that she doesn't walk and
step in it.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
No, no, no, she circles back around, looking back. She
circles back around after doing this to admire her handiwork.
And that's it. Well, see, I.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
Will say this, Uh, take solace in the fact that
she's doing it and it's happening outside. Your issue would
be if you circle back to your house and then
you realize that she's admiring it in your baby.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
I potty trained dogs very quickly, like, that's not that's
not an issue. That she was potty trained right away.
That was that was never an issue.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
It's not a thing about potty training a dog. Is
the fact that sometimes dogs are like people. They're temperamental, right,
And when you leave a dog for a certain period
of time, you come back. That's why you see that
dog is wagging his tail and it's very emotional. But yes,
dogs they have feelings too, so if they feel as
though you hit wrong them, I don't think I'm around
(02:48):
my dog.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
I haven't left it. I don't think it's wrong. She's
just like weirdly checking out her business after she does it. Listen,
you don't want your dog to Johnny depew right. I
didn't need that. I didn't need that, So get the
reference right Google.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
You don't want your dog coming home after you treated
your dog poorly, and then your dog where I've all
of a sudden treating my dog poorna. I don't know,
I don't know who it's the relationship with your dog,
but I know dogs are temperamental, just like people.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
I didn't treat that you already get textus. My dog
does that all the time. Okay, so I'm not weird.
It's just I've had dogs before they've never really done this,
and this one is is just weird.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
Well, you know what, I don't know who that text is.
Please text in and say what kind of breathe your
dog is because it could be solely breed based.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
Yeah, I've got I've got a borsoy and she's weird.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
Expect that dog looks like it's kind of like one
of those rich people dogs. You know, that dog that
has a diamond collar or something like that. That's what
it looks like, right, that that dog. You just can't
give them like regular ground beef. You got to give
them like top sirloin. That's why there it is. Wag
you Kobe. That's what Ben's dog looks like. It looks
(04:04):
like a dog of a risk person.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
Now, where I.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
Grew up, I mean we had pit bulls and rock rattlers, right.
That tells you when I grew up, right, and you
feed them whatever the hell you want to, right, But
with Ben, it's entirely different. So your dog may be
a dog of a certain I say, prestige.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
I guess I don't know, but it's uh, I mean,
she's she's calm, she's just weird and so that well,
according to that texter, that's not weird. Okay, there we go,
Now we know something Treddy camp today was interesting. I
think everybody was concerned with Jalen Wattle. Wattle pulled up
(04:45):
after running around on her Now Wattle walked right back
to the training facility, did not have really any hitching
his gidda up while he did it, and so far
it looks like he's could be fine, I mean relative
to what was said. But that was certainly a moment
I think for everybody's Jalen model has been everything that
was advertised since he's been here. Well, yeah, he has.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
But we have to understand this is camp and it's
a little different from OTA's and mini camp because guys
are competing for jobs. They're trying to put the best
foot forward, and intensity of practice actually goes up a level.
And we'll we'll get into it later about you know,
practice and how that anticifies with pads. But he's known
(05:28):
for his speed, and here's what I've seen in my
experience in the NFL coaching and playing, you get a
lot of soft tissue injuries, especially for those really quick
guys get in and out of their breakslet as though
Jayalen Water is known for it and coach Payton talks
about it at nauseam. You know, is transition his speed,
(05:49):
the rapidity he gets in and out of his brakes.
I mean that change of direction. You're doing that at
a higher level now than it was in OTA's in
mini camp. So you're gonna have little issue with maybe
a thigh poll or a hamstring pull or something like that.
When I played with Chad Bailey, I mean he used
to get hamstring injuries all the time, and all it
(06:12):
is the little twinge.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
It's this is your.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
Body just telling you, hey, we need you to need
to downshift you're for just a second.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
And I think that's kind of the issue with Jenen
Water right now. Jendah Watld, to his credit, has not
missed many games, but he does miss chunks of games
all the time. You know, you talk to people who
watched him down there in Miami, and that's what they say.
They're like, look, he's gonna be available every game. He's
gonna be unavailable for parts of a lot of games.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
Okay, Well, we know that health is one of the
more important parts of a player or a team success.
We saw it last year. The Broncos were really healthy
until they were not and it was just one player.
That seems everything. Now, if we could talk to the
football gods, ben and I ask you the listeners and
(07:02):
Zach Segers, if you could say, well, I can predetermine
right now which player could possibly have a minor injury.
When would you like that injury to take place now
or during the regular season? And mind you, I just
say major. I said a very minor injury. Where would
you like for that to take place now? Now?
Speaker 1 (07:23):
Obviously exactly So.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
Unless this is an injury that somehow is going to
keep dealing waddle out for an extended period of time,
I'm just going to say this is just part of
training camp.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
That's what it is to me. Yeah, I think so.
I mean, we have a spate of dings and tweaks
and whatever over the last couple of days when you
call Wattenberg and Benito and Wattle. But the fan base,
you know, in what is primed to be a potentially
Super Bowl competitive year for the Broncos, is sitting there
white knuckling this thing because for the first time in
a while, it really feels like we've got a contender.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
It's like that that big gasp, like like like when
you watch your baby. Bro, you guys don't know this,
but eventually you will when you watch when you have
your first child and your first child is starting to
crawl and then they graduate to walking. I mean, you're
(08:19):
gonna be nervous about every damn thing because.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
They're walking for the first time.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
By the time you get to your second kid, it's
just like whatever, right, So that's kind of where I
see this situation where Jaylen Loadel.
Speaker 1 (08:33):
He was crawling.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
At first, everyone was really excited, right, and it was
based on his ability to explode and accelerate down the field.
And now it looks like, okay, well there's a little
small stumble, right, it's not major. It's a small stumble.
So it's like, don't lose your mind. The medical reports
are not saying that it's something major, So until they
say that, don't think that.
Speaker 1 (08:56):
And I think that's but I think that's the thing.
You know, you see somebody go out, they don't retire
to practice, and you know, you just you start huffing
into a brown paper bag. So I think the because
I got a lot of messages today across multiple platforms,
you know of people that were sitting there sort of stressing.
I think the potential loss of a guy, and to
(09:18):
be fair, every guy who just traded a first first
round draft pick for so there's so there's that, but
any you know, at the end of the day, it
looks like all these guys are gonna be okay, gonna
be fine and be back out there. The Broncos are
just operating out of an abundance of caution. They do
feel like they are a competitor this year, and they
do feel like that they want to operate from a
(09:40):
sense of caution if there are any of these kinds
of things, and give it an extra day and make
sure everything is healed up and gives you an opportunity
to look at the next man up.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
Look, look, man, if you ever watched Nascar, I try
not to Okay, go fast turn left, go.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
Fast turn left.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
But if you ever watched Nascar and there's little incident,
sometimes it's made just sometimes this miner they get the
pace car out there and there's a you know, is
it warning.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
Right, that's kind of what this is.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
There's there's waving the warning flags, and if a guy
get takes a little stumble whatever, you take him back inside,
you assess him. He said, you know what, we're not
going to put him back out there on the field
to just kind of make everyone else, the media and
the fans feel well, no, we have to protect the
player from himself.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
So it's just a cautioning flag. How the days for
the hamstring to heal up, you know, just in case. Yeah,
And that's that's the way it appears to be most
these guys so far. So that's that's the main thing
for all the people out there that are panicking based
on some of this stuff I saw. I think I
saw one tweet say he limped off. I didn't see
a limp. If they saw a limp, you know whatever,
I didn't see a limp from water when he walked off.
(10:50):
He walked off on his own power. Didn't even go
over to the trainer or you had a blood out
of yell or any of that kind of stuff, just
you know, pulled up and then walked off over the
trading room. Boo. That was it. So take that for
you will uh. And it's funny because the Broncos has
such strict injury reporting requirements, like what we're allowed to say,
what we're not allowed to say? You know, it was
it was kind of funny listening to some of the
(11:11):
media around us, like Hudly, okay, can I say lower legged?
I can't say lower leg injury? Do I have to?
How do I? You know? Watching them trying.
Speaker 2 (11:17):
To frame it, you know what, that's always funny at
practice watching other members of the media figure out how
to frame things, how to shape them, and knowing as that, well,
you can't do certain things in real time.
Speaker 1 (11:31):
Yeah, you can only do it after.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
The fact, and some things you can't even do it
until you actually ask the head coach about a specific
player or whatever.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
But I don't even know why.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
Interviewers of the media even ask a question when you
see it, because John Payton never talks about injuries.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
Yo.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
He tells people that I'm not gonna talk about injuries,
but they think that they if they rephrase the question
sweats the rose.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
Up, Like, but I'm gonna mind why you know, I'm
an a Jedi. Mind trick him here.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
He's like, no, I'm not gonna talk about injuries and
other teams do it. And Bill Belichick, you know, he
was great for not saying anything about injuries or even
putting guys on the injury report who are not as injured. Right,
and you think about it, Bill Belichick, John Payton, what
is it that they have in common?
Speaker 1 (12:21):
They come from a certain coaching tree.
Speaker 2 (12:23):
Bill Parcels, and Parcels is never gonna tell you, right.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
If I were an NiFi head coach, I would list
to one of my I would list every one of
my players on the injury report. Question something. It'd be
like a hangnail, you know, ingrown toenail bowl syndrome and
just I mean, like you know, probable dandruff probably you know,
I would have everybody on there just to mess with people.
Every most have diarrheas, so he won't be at practice today.
(12:48):
Yeah that might. I might not do that one, but yeah,
well that's that's kind of It's sure that I would
put explosive on there.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
Well, well, I mean, if the guy's not showing up
at practice, if you were to dehydrated, if you just
say diarrhea, I mean they say about giving him some
electrolytes and IV explosive diary. He can't come out, he
can't come out to practice. I might just say dehydrated,
and I would go, Okay, that is diarrhea.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
Or a hangover. One of the two. Well, good for
you one. You're hoping that that's not the case. Could
be both open. That's not the case. But I would,
I mean, I would absolutely mess with the injury report
that way, Like if I was a head coach, that
that's the way I would do. It is just troller
by polisting everybody. Everye Okay, guys, I need you give
me something that's wrong with you this week so I
can put on the injury report all right.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
Reporting life from the Broncos facility. It seems to be
that the Broncos are going through a slew of injuries
that if you go up and down the.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
Roster, everyone seems to have see one of the entire
rosters of the injury report, yes this week.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
So I mean, that's the kind of stuff I would
do that would make national news for sure.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
I mean, you know it's better than sitting there going
the other way with it. Well, we're not gonna talk
about that and just everybody get frustrated, tries to reframe
everything if I just laugh at it and it goes away.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
But if you are head coach, your job is to
answer questions. But I don't have to answer your question
the exact way that you want me to answer.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
It's fair, that's fair. Yes, I like the way that
some of these people ask them these questions too. I'm like,
you could just ask if you think they're probable for
the game. Dude, you could just ask that and then
they have to give you the information whether it's probable, questionable,
or whatever. Just ask that way. But I'm not trying
to help competitors out, so well, they may just say,
well they head coach the show.
Speaker 2 (14:29):
Head coach could say that, you know, at this moment,
we don't notice severity of the injuries, so I don't
want to get out ahead of my skis and tell
you something into I checked with the medical staff, right,
But that won't answer your question.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
But then I answer your question on a game week
though that doesn't work on a game week. You have
to have game game week. But you can get away
with it this week. You can do that. As soon
as it's game week, then you got to have a
designation on there. Well, I still can answer the question.
Without answering you can, but you gotta have If I say,
is do you consider him probable or doubtful for the game,
that's going to tell me whether you think be the
conditions for probably right now, we don't know.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
We're gonna work him out before the game and then
we'll make our decision based on that.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
Noo, what are you listening him as today? Probably or doubtful? Well,
at this particular moment, you have to provide a listening.
Speaker 2 (15:12):
This particular moment, all size point to him being able
to play right now.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
I can't say so you're problem. So however you want
to phrase it, I'm saying I can. I can absolutely,
like I can box you what once again? It'd be
your words like I've never said probable. I just told
you got to listen with the designation. So where are
you planning on listing him as as it sits right now?
With the information that you have, would you be listening
as probable or doubtful?
Speaker 2 (15:36):
I would listen him as being capable of playing, so
he and so we see that he.
Speaker 1 (15:41):
Can't plow, so probable. There you go. You just said that,
you just said problem that you said that, you said
it thought that I was gosh, ball, it's mistake five
six six nine zero is the text, lawn. That's when
I feed my dog, just just dog. We don't want
to get to that, see you said to it. If
(16:02):
I remember correct, I'm like Shanahan used to do that
to everybody on the injury list, even if they had
a minor rash.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
Yes, because the idea is that the injury report is key.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
This is why you know.
Speaker 2 (16:13):
It comes out every single week and you have to
list players is out, questionable, a doubtful, right, and you
have to list round about where said injury is taking place.
Because we know, especially now more than back when I play.
I mean, we have fantasy football, we have sports books,
so they want to know so they can said to
(16:35):
odds as far as who's going to hold, they're expecting
to win and buying how many points, and then it's
the prop bets. All of that stuff factors in, right,
So you have to be very cautious, cautious when you
speak about injuries, and coaches normally tell players, hey, before
you go out there, even if you've dinged up, you
(16:55):
are not supposed to talk about injuries. If they want
to talk about injuries, tell them refer them to your
head coach and we'll take it from there.
Speaker 1 (17:04):
That's how you have to doe. Yeah, it's there's I mean,
obviously there's ways that you coach up your players, you know,
to do that kind of stuff. So I don't know,
did you guys see this Cardinals practice video that came
out Cardinals? It's pretty funny. I retweeted it. It came out
to eight oh four am this morning, and they it's
from Tie the Football Guy, and he said, trying not
(17:27):
to think about this Cardinals practice video tomorrow is going
to require Olympic level mental gymnastics. And if you watch
this video the off this might be the worst offensive
practice tape I have ever seen in my life. As
the offensive line can't block, the quarterback can't throw, the
receivers can't catch, and I mean I'm talking about wide
open receivers can't catch. Just hilariously bad.
Speaker 2 (17:52):
Okay, So is there actual footage of this or is
this just someone's just kind of narrating what they feel
as though there servations were a practice.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
This was a difference. This is literally Cardinals practice tape, dude,
and it and it is hilarious. All right, So send
that to me, I'm gonna take a look at it.
It's my It's on my Twitter already. I'll send break
But it's it is. It is hilarious. I was gonna say,
if you guys have seen it, I wanted to like,
it could just be one bad day, because you can
have a bad day. But that that is I mean.
(18:22):
And nobody expects the Cardinals to be anything this year.
They're gonna be a bottom two team in the league.
It's them and the Dolphins. They're gonna be the worst
two teams in the league this year, maybe the Jets,
and nobody's expected much out of them. But but you
do have to look like professionals.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
Okay, well, well hold on, hold on, man, it's not
let's not get ahead of ourselves.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
We know that sometimes when individuals are.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
At practice, and fortunately for Arizona, who's ever.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
Covering them, they get a chance to film it. We don't.
Speaker 2 (18:51):
But just one video doesn't tell it doesn't It doesn't.
Speaker 1 (18:56):
But this is pretty just the video that went viral.
Speaker 2 (18:59):
Patrick Mahomes is seven o seven hitting the center in
the back of the head right. That doesn't tell the
entire story. No, it tells a part of the story.
So who's to say that there isn't more left in
the bag with the Cardinals.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
That we have yet to see. I sincerely hope there's
something good in the bag somewhere, because that tape is
hilariously bad. We had a break Broncos Country to night.
Back up to this, Zach Sale you'resting today. Five six,
six nine zero is the text line. Let's see here,
(19:30):
we had somebody coming in here. Six 't eight two.
Ben last year was pounding the tables for the Cardinals
to be good. Yeah, I mean they got a chance
to be good. They could start the season seven and
oh they lost like five games by combined twelve points.
And they hit the bye week and the wheels fell off.
They're on their six running back at that point, their
second quarterback. All the injuries that they had across the board.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
The thing that got me with the car News was
that scene on the sideline with Tim Marcado. Well, yeah,
I mean, sholp be your player in the chest.
Speaker 1 (19:57):
Now.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
I know, sometimes things get really spirit it.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
I mean, that fumble cost everybody their jobs.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
Listen, I get it. But once again, we got to
go back to the optics. Spend the optics, right, I mean,
all you need to do is see one pitcher and
everyone has their own details as far as what took place.
But that's something from an optical standpoint you don't want
to see, especially when you were struggling team like the
Cartons are. So now they found themselves with a new
(20:27):
head coach, you know, a new staff.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
Let's see what they do. Let's just let's just see.
Well we will we will see. I mean that's obviously
this season, but right now it is not. It's it's
different quarterbacks, different you know, it's a different football team
than it was last year. That fumble was was the
Tennessee game where they lost twenty two to twenty one.
Went to their third straight game, which they lost by
three points. For fewer and de Marcato who'd ripped off
(20:53):
a big run. You only had three carries in that
game for they wine yards, ripped off a big run
and then fumbled it right for the goal line, dropped
it before the goal line, whatever was, and cost them
the game. Man, there's a lot of costly plays.
Speaker 2 (21:06):
And once again this is why with fantasy football now,
it changes a lot of things.
Speaker 1 (21:13):
That's why you see more.
Speaker 2 (21:15):
Fans engage and actively criticizing players both during games on
social media and sometimes when maybe when they're out and about, like, oh,
you lost me the game, that's your fault.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
Yeah, that's your fault. Right, But you know that was
I mean end of the day, you know, And then
you have to go to jacobre Rissett and he goes
one and eleven as a starter, and it was yeah,
I mean it was. It was pretty much over at
that point. Yes, too much overcame.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
But this is the difference between organizations who historically have
been run into the ground opposed to story franchises like
the Pittsburgh still Is, for instance, the Green Bay Packers
and our very own Denver and and it starts from
the top down.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
Culture.
Speaker 2 (22:05):
So there's something to be said about that, because when
you set the bar really high, the standard has.
Speaker 1 (22:11):
To come along. You have no choice but to fall
in line.
Speaker 2 (22:14):
And teams like Arizona, the Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati is starting
to turn the corner at least they're trying to.
Speaker 1 (22:21):
Once once again, they don't they don't know what that is.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
They don't know what that is to have their teams
constantly in the playoffs or in that that standard being expected.
So here in Denver, it is expected. Even now, I
don't care who gets injured. I don't want anyone get injured.
Well you know that's part of the game. But I
don't care who gets injured on the team or whatever,
short ball or tweak here and there.
Speaker 1 (22:46):
The expectation is still the same.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
Next guy up, the team is playoffs, super Bowl bounds.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
That's the mentality. Some teams can overcome that and some
teams can't. I mean, the Broncos right now are deep
enough they could overcome that. You know, as long as
it's not the quarterback position they get injured, they can
do enough. Guys are just about every position, they're going
to be okay. But Larrizolta Cardinals do not have last
year certainly didn't have the roster to be able to
this year. They're not any better. But why, what's the why?
(23:12):
As far as what depth, well more drafting, por trading, poor,
you know, the poor roster building.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
Yes, so all of that goes back to who your
ownership is, your head coach, your GM, his support staff,
and what's there meant to make up.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
As far as what the culture go over and.
Speaker 2 (23:30):
Guess why it's not just comes some kind of fallacy
in the Broncos kind of triped and fell into this situation.
You start where Pat Bolan taking over, hiring Mike Shanahan
and off we go. Standards said, Now the Pinners are
now in with Sean Payne and George Peyton. That idea
is the continuation and taking what Pat Bolan and Matt
(23:51):
Shinahan was able to do and trying to take that
to a whole different stratosphere.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
Yeah, and I mean I get that. I'm not disputing
that in any way. I'm just saying, like, you know,
the car did not have the defenive roster to sustain
six running backs getting hurt, their quarterback getting hurt, losing
offensive line, and losing defensive players all over the place.
Like I just didn't have the you know, you know,
you go through you lose five games by combined twelve
points in a row, five gets a row by combined
(24:15):
twelve points, and then you have all those was never
gonna happen. No one's not in that division. No one's
philosopher for you. Tight well, I mean no, there's the Titans,
that's their slogan over there. I'm just saying, you're in
that division, you're just not going to survive it. Now
the end of the day, you know, if you fire
your coach and you you hire the guys that were
(24:36):
responsible for the Jets are Roger debacle, and we'll see
how it goes.
Speaker 2 (24:40):
Look, man, it's all about trying to set your your
your team up. And I go back to this because
I know and I know well, and I go back
to the standard. Just like when you look at the Broncos,
let's just say, on the defensive side of the ball,
we know that that's where their bread is buttered.
Speaker 1 (24:54):
That's the strength of the team.
Speaker 2 (24:56):
And then you look at the Broncos who starred in
corners Patcher Tam and Riley Moss. And then you say, okay,
well who's backing them up. Chris Abrams Drain and Johnny Barron.
Both of those guys are still waiting.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
In the wings.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
As you know, backup players with the potential to start
the more they start to develop. And then you say, well,
look at the development of Chris Abrams Drain. He's been
in this defense for a while and he's starting to
really show dividends for him at practice. And then you
move it's okay, well at the linebacker position, that's still
something that you still trying to figure out.
Speaker 1 (25:32):
But up front, you have the adequate depth. You see
guys showing up.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
I mean you see a Waza Rique, you see Tyler o'deetam,
you see ke Robinson right, and you see Jonah Ellis.
Both of those guys had a lot of reps today
considering the fact that Nick Benita didn't practice.
Speaker 1 (25:50):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (25:50):
So this is where that depth comes in, and you
have to invest in these players, and you have to
do it early, not later.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
You have to build it up. And I think if
you go back to the I was trying to make
was you go back and you look at some of
the other Broncos teams over the last ten years, they
did not have the depths to be able to survive stuff.
You know, as soon as the injuries happened, that the
wheels came off, and we've seen it, and I say
I always say that all that to say that this
team has the depth to be able to sustain. Now, again,
as we were talking off the top of the show,
(26:18):
the injuries that have happened so far not and serious,
but this team has the depth to sustain that. They
have the depth to be able to overcome those kinds
of things. And that's why I think ultimately that this
team is a competitor.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
Yes, and I will piggyback off of that and add
this to it. This is why this team should be
considered to be a super Bowl contender based on that.
You've seen improvement and boon nicks over these three years.
The team has decided to invest in running backs. Now,
we had to see the running backs actually get on
(26:52):
the field, and the team didn't want to use the
word run it back, but that's exactly what they're doing.
And you look around the league at the other thirty
one other teams, there has that. There's been a lot
of kind of turnover on some teams, not as much
as much here with with the Denver Broncos. So looking
at what they did last year, you add a couple
of pieces here and there, you should you should be
(27:14):
right in that mix. There's no reason that you shouldn't
right in the conversation.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
Of course, Yeah, I think so we're gonna Courtland said
was also not at practice. He was there, but he's
not today. Two in a row, yes, too, in a row? Okay,
to in a row?
Speaker 2 (27:30):
What what does that get makes you think? Because apparently
it looks like the look on your face you're thinking
of something.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
Yeah, I've never seen two vet days in a row,
especially for a receiver. Well, I've seed it for alignment before,
but I've never seen it for a receive.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
So why would you give it to alignment and not
a receiver a guy who runs a line in the
wide receiver?
Speaker 1 (27:46):
Well, I mean I said I've seen it for alignment before.
I've seen it for one lineman before. I just I
don't know that that peaks the hairs on the back
of my neck a little bit. I'm like, wait, he
had it two vet days in a row. Now, see
you're overthinking this.
Speaker 2 (27:58):
See there there are other people out there like, thank
you overthinking this situation. Col and Sudden has improven wide receiver?
Speaker 1 (28:03):
Yes or no? Yes?
Speaker 2 (28:05):
Do the Broncos have a wide receiver room that they're
gonna have to make some tough decisions on a couple
of guys, So it's best that those guys get some
of those reps.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
Yes or no? Yeah, I mean I don't think it's
gonna be that tough a decision. The five guys that
are gonna make the team are pretty obvious and everybody,
there's gonna be two on the practice. You still need
some of those other guys to get some of those reps. Yeah,
I mean, and you look, you gave uh bandy reps
today and he was bawling. That's my exact point. So
(28:34):
I don't know. They just made the hair on my
back of my next stand up. I felt such a
pack a little bit later. Uh, I don't know. You
guys noticed this on Twitter, Like you guys remember the
band Puddle of Mud. Yes, Oh they were terrible. He
was terrible to you. Yeah, well they were genuinely terrible.
They It's become like this thing where people are talking
(28:56):
about and they're they're posting the same clip from when
they were doing some lips performance on Fair Factor where
there this was stolen from us. The music that was
stolen from it like the music that was stolen from us.
This music was it was hot garbage from an industry
plant band like that. The whole band was made up.
It was the guy fired his band and then Fred
Durst put people around him and the guy was doing
the lead singer guys Nam West Scantalon. He's kind of
(29:18):
a piece of crap, you know, anything about his life
and the music was terrible. What is with the sudden
surgeons of trying to, like nostalgically make puddle of mud
good again.
Speaker 2 (29:29):
The whole idea is nostalgia as the fact of going
back in time, where when you hear a certain music
music or a certain genre of music, it takes you
back mentally to a time that you felt was better
or or in certain cases, it may be a moment
(29:50):
where you were going through some heartache where you were
able to overcome it.
Speaker 1 (29:54):
It's very it's nostalgia.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
Man, those step on nostalgia because you may not like
this a senior or remember it in the band.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
No, I like the band itself, like the music was terrible.
And then on top of that, the guy happened to
be a piece of crap who like you know, beat
up his girlfriend and you know he's been out of
rehab fifty million times.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
Hey, look, man, everyone has their own issues. Ben someone
is struggling with rehab and relationships.
Speaker 1 (30:18):
A man to eat to each his own.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
I encourage you to better your life and stable the ship.
But I'm not the one that just kind of step
on you and rain on your parade. Man. I think.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
Came in is now starting to get wrung out. Man,
I'm asking where this came from, Like, where where did
this sudden? Because it's more than one account sitting here
trying to hype up puddle of mud of all bands.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
But because maybe it's a person who maybe may have
been a fan of the band itself. It's not you know,
I got I got something for you, Ben, I got something.
Speaker 1 (30:52):
Live and let live. Try that motto, right, live and
let live. I'm good on that. Nobody let me live. Listen, man,
I'm gonna turn in the favor.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
I don't know the trouble is that you've seen, but
I just hope that those bridges are repairing.
Speaker 1 (31:08):
That's all I can say. Every tidy say the troubles
you don't see. You remember that SNL when Bill Hayter
has the puppet and it's the puppet of himself when
I was in Grenada. Everybody, but it's just everytime, it's
the troubles you've seen, the things that I've seen.
Speaker 2 (31:24):
It's the one when he's playing like a military you
get the glasses and he's like, well, let's introduce your puppet.
Speaker 1 (31:30):
It's like just him with a puppet out the sad
there was in Grenado with the Flames Tour. Yeah, okay, okay,
now now recall it. Yeah, five six, six times zero
is the text line. And said to us, and this
is the first year been has believed in the Broncos.
That is not true. I said they were a playoff
team two years ago, and they did make the playoffs.
I was here they lost to the Bills, and I
(31:50):
reported that internally, uh, the Broncos believed they were a
very strong football team, well positioned to make the playoffs.
Got a lot of laughter from a lot of people
on that one. Last year I said they were ten
or eleven win team. Now they won more games than that.
Some of that I think, you know, I mean, you
got to you got lucky a little bit. You get
to play the Trey Lance quarterback to Chargers. There were
a couple of games in there where you get some
some breaks, alutcum that kind of stuff. That said. I
(32:12):
don't want to take anything away from them, but I
do believe they are a contender this year. I think
your I think your biggest threat in the West, as
I've I've made no bones about, is the LA Chargers.
I don't think it's the Chiefs and It's interesting to
me because somebody pointed this out earlier, and I've talked
to some people back in Kansas City. Kansas City Radio
spent more time talking about the Broncos than they are
the Chiefs right now.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
Well, of course, because the Broncos are an ascending team,
and you definitely have to keep your eyes on the
team that is presenting the biggest threat. And the Broncos
are not just the biggest threat in the Kansas City,
but they're the biggest threat to a team like Baltimore Buffalo,
as though they beat Buffalo last year and Josh Allen
had like five turnovers. So this is a team that
(32:55):
is being looked at in a manner that they haven't
been looked at in the years pass as an actual threat,
not as a team like we just when the schedule
comes out.
Speaker 1 (33:06):
You're checking wins and losses. Usually that would be a check.
You can't check that now, can't check that box anymore.
And and as tough as the Broncos first part of
that schedule is the back half looks real tasty. The middle,
the middle chunk to the back half looks pretty pretty
tasty for him. So we had a break. We come back,
we get more into what we've seen at training camp
(33:27):
and nick thoughts on having refs at training camp, this
Abrocos country to night here on get Away
