You want to see your guys go out and you

We expect to do this every single time we come
out there, whether you're the starters or your backup, this
is the type of performance we expect because once again,
both of these franchises are story franchises, but when it
comes to Pittsburgh, they're known for doing two things, and
doing two things well, running the ball and playing great defense.

So now he's stepping into it, he being Mike McCarthy
into a situation which I would dare to say, and
anyone can kind of argue meet on this point. But
when you talk about storied franchises, right, you have to
talk about the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Team's history, they've only had four coaches. Mike McCarthy makes

You know, everyone looks at the preseason.

We often say, well, yeah, the team's gonna keep it
as vanilla as possible. But as we know, with the
flavors of ice cream, not avy vanilla is created equal.

And the reason I say that when we watched here,
you know Drew Allard touchdown.

Teams are able to hide things and play inside and
even though it's a preseason and you think it's going
to be pretty simple, I mean, it's some of the
basic concepts that teams run that they will use and
exploit during the regular season. Very simple, complex but very
simple scheme. But they can become more complex if the

guys on the field are not communicating.

That was one of the bigger issues that the Broncos.

Speaker 4 (07:28):
As talented as they were last season, and I would
say they're equally talented this season as well. That was
one of the areas that they struggle with communication and
in the regular season that was with the starters, not
the backups.

So in games like the one tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (07:45):
It's going to be interesting to see how some of
these relief players actually function having to communicate for the
first time in live game action, because in Pittsburgh, I mean,
it was really a simple formation inside the red zone.
And sometimes players you dismissed that, right, you say, okay.

Well here's what I see.

Speaker 4 (08:06):
The team is in what were the twelve personnel reduce
or reduced set, and you're thinking, okay, we got this
set dead to write, there comes a boutleg, but once again,
where are your eyes? And this is why playing man
coverage inside the red zone is so important because, like
I was telling you, Ben, even if it's zone coverage

inside the red zone, depending on the route and the
down the distance where the offense is, there's a large
chance that your zone coverage is going to turn into
man coverage based on how guys are set up.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
And all it takes is a guy taking his eyes off.

Speaker 4 (08:44):
Of his wide receiver, off of his coverage in the backfield,
looking at the quarterback. Right now, your guy gets out
past you and outflanks you.

And that is what we saw a little bit of
that the Steelers running that up at the goal lives
where talking about a little bit, a little bit earlier,
Mitchell Trubisky in the game for the Tennessee Titans.

He's the one that's backing up cam Wards.

Bisky went like third or fourteen what is this like
his third or fourteen Bears Bills.

This would now he's with the Titans.

Well he was, It would be the Bears, and then
he was with the Bills for one season, right, and
then he was with the Steelers for two seasons, and
then he went back to the Bills for two seasons. Trubisky,
who over the course of his career is thrown around
two thousand passes. Believe it or not, Mitchell Tribsky has
thirteen thousand passing yards in his career u seventy eight
touchdowns to only.

Like he's you know, I think the stat line on
Mitchell Trubisky does not reflect I think most people's opinion
of the play of Mitchell Trubisky.

No, it does not. And here's what that proves.

I mean, you may be a guy that's drafted in
the first round, you go to your first team, the
deck make me stacked against you because the team that
you go into they're not as talented, but everyone is
expecting you to go from Clark Kenton to Superman.

Speaker 3 (10:04):
You don't actually do that.

Speaker 4 (10:07):
You're not able to pull that team from being in
the basement and lifting up, lifting them up to being
one of the top teams in the league. But what
happens is maybe that second, that third team that you're on,
that's kind of when you start to showcase your ability,
and maybe his best serve you being a backup.

And being a starter because you have less pressure on you. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:31):
Uh, and maybe maybe that's the thing. I don't know.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
Cam Wore did not look comfortable in that offense against
the forty nine ers, saying, that's fascinating because Brian Dable
that you got Brian Dable, Barbart Salah taking the head
coaching job, Brian Dable taking the OC job, and you
thought that was gonna be probably a matt I thought anyway,
that was gonna be a match made and heaven, Cam
Wharton and Brian Dable, that felt like that was gonna work.
And he just does not look comfortable. And he was
a guy that showed some flashes last year in the

previous offense that he was in.

Yeah, I've been. I'll look at it this way. You
just said it. Here. You are in the new offense.

Right, and you're working in live game time situations, and
sometimes that timing may be a little off because in
practice you don't get a chance to hit the quarterback
because there's always they're stopping to the depth of the quarterback.
Even when the quarterback is sacked, they allow the quarterback
to evade the pass. Russ still throw the ball down
the field, and I think that that's a misrepresentation of

what the offense could do.

Keep it realistic.

If there's a money pocket and you feel though the.

Quarterback is sack, blows the whistle.

So now you can learn from that and it's not
building false confidence.

How many times we've.

Been out to Broncos practice and we've seen maybe Matt
Henderson before his injury, We've seen Zach Allen, We've seen
roser Rique, We've seen Tyler Ode, Adam Right, Jonah Ellis,
Keith Robinson. We've seen all of these guys get to
the depth of the quarterback. But the whistle was not blown.
The quarterback continues to scramble. Receivers were covered, now they uncovered.

Now they throw the ball down the field and the
fans were celebrating.

I'm like, no, but.

Speaker 1 (12:04):
That was that was a sack. Yeah, I it's I
don't know, interesting. I think as as I'm looking at this,
I just wonder because I really thought the Titans might
be a little bit of a sleeper team.

You know, they made some moves.

Who to say that they're they're not. Remember this is preseason, it.

Is, but they look I mean, I've seen enough, I've
been around.

Falls looked mighty uncomfortable. In that preseason game against the.

Night last year he did yeah, well, I mean it
took him a little bit to get going in the
season too.

Not you know, it's bad though, think.

About this suit in that preseason, first preseason game against.

The forty nine ers.

Speaker 4 (12:38):
We we saw the forty nine ers blitz the Broncos,
and the Broncos were ill prepared for that, right. We
also saw a lot of criticism of R. J. Harvey
because his criticism was, well, why is he bouncing the
ball so much? Why continues to run outside and not
run between the tackles.

Speaker 3 (12:54):
And I'm like, uh, you know why, you know how
many guys are in there. There's few guys outside and
if you had the speed to get on the edge.
Why not get there?

Speaker 1 (13:03):
Yeah, But I mean he obviously we saw that that
didn't work later on when you know he was I.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
Tell you what, he worked in that Dallas game. Though
it worked in that Dallas game, that's fair.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
But he I mean bo, I think he kind of
started the uh, the season off a little slow too
that last year, didn't he was it the Titans game
or whatever, and he only had uh it was it
was I trying to remember he had like one hundred
and seventy six total passing yards and two picks.

But think about Bow his bow in a game we
saw against Seattle, you know Bowl and this was like
two years ago.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
But Bow wasn't that's good. He was feeling things out
about last.

Year like last year, you know, I mean last year
he had a year under his belt, and he opened
the season that that game against the Titans.

Speaker 2 (13:45):
That game was in doubt. Late in the game, he.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
Was h and he did not play appreciable well he
had had I mean he I know, he had like
one hundred and seventy five yards passing that was it.
He had two interceptions, barely had had any rushing yardage.

Uh, they didn't want to sink it again.

I'm pretty sure to fumble in that one too, if
I remember correctly, so so three turnovers, one hundred and
seventy six passing.

He did not not play well in that game. Did
not start the season that well.

No, he did not.

But in the case of cam ward I look at
it this way. You know what we've seen of Brian
Dabel with Josh Allen and Buffalo, and then what he
attempted to do with Jackson Dark with the Giants.

I like him as an OC.

Speaker 4 (14:25):
He didn't work out as a head coach, but some
guys work out that with the better coordinators than they
are head coaches because a lot of delegations other things
they have to worry about. But I feel as though
whatever shortcomings you're seeing in this first preseason game, by
week one, most of those hinks would be worked out well, and.

If you're a Titans fan, you would hope.

Speaker 1 (14:45):
And that offense looked very disjointed with cam Warden there,
which is surprising to me relatively speaking, because you felt
like that cam was gonna be a natural fit for
that and some of the reports coming out of camp
have been pretty glowing.

Speaker 2 (14:55):
But then I watched him in the game there and
I was like, that was not that.

Speaker 4 (14:58):
Look, we know how this goes, like sometimes we see
guys display a certain level of athleticism in practice, and
then when we get to the game it doesn't seem
like it appears. And then where's there a guy who
just looked like a baby deer in practice?

And then the game is like, where does this come from?

Speaker 2 (15:17):
Well, you've seen Tarzana practice chain in the game before.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
And I'm not gonna I don't want to really call
anybody out here, but I'll say that Roddy Hillman looked
a lot better in practice than he looked in games.

But with some some people are just gamers and some
people just practice players.

Yeah, that happened.

But what you're saying of Cam wore right now in
a very limited sample size. That's that's one thing we
got to point out. A very limited sample size. It
tells us, it shows us one thing, but it doesn't
tell the entire story.

And do you think this success, at least in the
eyes of Jerry Jones, will lead to the Cowboys being
more willing.

To trade stars of the future. I believe he's happy.
Whether or not he should be is a matter for debate.
I believe he is happy. I mean, if you look
at Michael Parsons, who spent a lot of that time injured.
Of course, got injured the Broncos game, so he didn't
get a full season in there. Look at all the
collateral that Dallas got back to that trade. They put
it to pretty good use so far. I think Jerry
Jones probably is happy with the way that turned out.

Yeah, he's happy for the fact of hey, Michael Parson
is no longer in the building. He doesn't have to
worry about Michael Parson sitting on the stretch. Table game
is going on. And for Jerry, yeah, he's thinking that
he removed the headache. But there's no way that you
can say that Jerry is happy because to my viewpoint,

there hasn't been a pass rusher after Michael Parson was
traded to the Packers that was able to pull up
his type of numbers that you can line up anywhere.

And I get it, they just paid.

Quinn Williams a boatload of money, but he's an anterior guy.

He's not a guy that's on the edge.

But what if he was completely healthy.

Jerry would feel a little different.

But I think this is going to motivate Michael Parson

I'm kind of with you. I think it ultimately works
out because of the injury.

If not for the injury, I'm curious if he would
still feel that same level of confidence. That said, I
haven't seen a lot of hype around the Cowboys this year.
The Schotenheimer higher seems to have worked out well. Do
you think this is the year the Cowboys finally break
that thirty year, thirty plus year drought? And do what
of not appearing in a conference championship game?

They don't even want to suit but they haven't even
reached maybe.

I mean, you're in a division that's that's interesting. The
Giants should get better with Harrorball in there. The commander
should be better with Jane Daniels back.

OC that's that works out, But they're loaded with talent.

I like Brian Schottenheimer. I love what they're doing there
in Dallas. I don't know if they're making it to

a niche. I wouldn't expect you to know it.

I know Ben mentioned some of the stipulations in that
contract earlier.

I'm gonna say no, because we don't know exactly what
the league is gonna do, and the legal process hasn't
fully worked itself out, and I'm surprised that the Seahawks
actually signed him. But if the contract is what Ben
says that it is, it's a win win situation for
them if things work out. But that is penning the

legal process and then the league doing what they're gonna do,
because you know it's gonna carry at least a six
game suspension.

Yeah, there's a lot. You're probably gonna get paid. Put
on the NFL list, the commiss exemp list. Man, I
this situation is sort of a mess.

For the Seahawks. I mean it's a no risk move.
I mean it's for it's a no risk move.

But this is a headache in terms of figuring it
out because, I mean, the evidence looks overwhelmingly bad for Arnold.
This looks like a thing where you can wind up
spent a thirty years in prison, let alone, you know,
talking about the Commissioner's list.

If everything works out, it's a nice roll of the
dice and you pay a signing bonus and that's really
all your you know, and then you're paying whatever. But
if it doesn't work out. All you do is paying
a signing bus and there you go. So I get it,
but I don't see a way that he ever plays
it down with the you mentioned the commissioner's exempless They
often use that when you know the legal situation isn't

moving fast enough for the league and they don't want
the guy on the field. How long until you think
we get a legal resolution and some clear answers or
