Speaker 1 (00:00):
Here with you five six, six nine zero. The text
line as always, Ryan Blackburn gonna join us.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Seven thirty five.

Speaker 1 (00:05):
I talk about the Pat Watson trade. Sean Keiler didn't
post eight o'clock. We got Broncos Packers pre season tomorrow night.

Speaker 3 (00:11):
Nick, how we feeling.

Speaker 4 (00:14):
I'm feeling fantastic, so vendus okay, or you know, follow
up to that, just any particular reason you're feeling stupendous.
It's Thursday, it's a game tomorrow, okay, Yes, it's stay tourist.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
Is throwing my weekend off a little.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Because we have these games on Friday, now, yeah, and
then so then you naturally you think and then you know,
you get to Sunday to like, man, it feels like
a Monday. It's it's thrown me off all week.

Speaker 4 (00:38):
I'm telling you what. It's not throwing me off. I'm
ready for some foot.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
Well, there's supposed to be some football coming on here
in a minute with the Raiders in Texas, I believe,
up on the US screen. So we'll have some football
studio and we'll have some football tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (00:52):
Yes, not football, but no foot football football, yes, football real,
not soccer, Yes that soccer.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
I know how much you dislike soccer. I love soccer.
I don't know much you're talking about. In fact, they're
gonna goa think today. I guess there's.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Some something gonna happen here, some Premier League game.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
I think they're gonna do a friendly here.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Something. I don't know. It's gona benouce tomorrow morning.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
I guess some press release on. Yeah, I guess a
press release on that.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
I'm gonna play that. I'm not. I don't know. I'll
find out tomorrow morning.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
There's some I got some release that there's going to
be an announcement tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
Well, you make sure when you get that release, you
released the information all of a sudden.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
You're a football fan, we're gonna watch no, no, no, no, no,
I've been one.

Speaker 4 (01:30):
We went through this whole thing during the World Cup, right,
I like it during the World Cup. Right, it's more
competitive when countries are involved. Okay, but now now we're
dealing with you know, fan bases. Now get back to
with the football, American football.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
Okay. Yeah, I don't know the teams, I don't know whatever.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
But I just I got some press release from a
friend of mine who works.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
I say press release, I got tiped off by a
friend of mine who works down there with the city, and.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Yeah, I don't have all the info on that yet,
but I guess that announcement's coming tomorrow morning and you'll
probably find out.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
On a lot of morting news or you know, with
the Guild Russian.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
Gym, lots of stuff to get to on this. I
don't know if you saw have you seen this deal
where they're seeking an injunction because some of these college players,
if they get that fifth year of eligibility, they've been.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
In training camp, but they can go back and play
another year.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
That's ridiculous. Yeah, listen, man, As a.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
Guy that played in college sports, I love the idea
in the concept if I was in college that I
can go cut my teeth in the NFL camp, not
make the team right, get released, and then I could
go right back to.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
College for another year.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
And oh, by the way, it's a little different because
now you have nils. What we're guys of making a
significant amount of money. Not all depends on the tier
of talent you are right now. It determines a lot
as far as the money you make. But I think
it's a little ridiculous that a guy in this fifth year.
Because I know a couple of college players have petition
or found some grievance against the NFL or whatever. But

(03:11):
I think it's only ridiculous because here's what it's going
to do. Like college football is already just kind of
the wah wah West. But if you allow guys to
go to NFL camp, get released, go back to cause
for the fifth year, the guys who are currently on
that collegiate roster, you now.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
Kick those guys out. Yeah, there's a whole lot that's
weird about it started. And it comes down to the
t High school too. Yeah, it started, so they started
here in Colorado.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
Actually in the Colorado court ruling granted a fifth year
of eligibility to twenty twenty two high school graduates and
then their athletes of course, filed for the legal action
off that. But now you've got to losing a state
judge granting a temporary restraining order allowing over a dozen
football players currently in NFL training camps or on professional
rosters to regain college eligibility to enter the transfer portal.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
This legal shift woul get players.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Like Daikwon Wright, who's with the Clinton Browns a fallback
option to play college football this season. Anthony Hankerson, White
at Williams, Jack Pieber, and there's there's several of these guys.
Hankerson's currently with the Seahawks, White at Williams with the Cardinals,
Jack Piper's with the Tad Bay Buccaneers. It would would,
and it's just just it's just utterly ridiculous to me.
I don't know how we got to this if this

(04:22):
just feels stupid.

Speaker 4 (04:23):
Well, the reason we got to this point is because
the n Cuba acted as though they were a mo
and do as we say, not as we do, because
they were making a substantial amount of money and that
there wasn't any kind of kickback to the players in
any regard.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
It was like if you go to a bowl game,
your school.

Speaker 4 (04:45):
Gets a massive amount of money depending on the bowl game,
and then you may get a sweatsuit, maybe a bag
with your name on it with the bowl lettering embroidered
on it. But that's that's about it. And we've seen
players play in some of those bowl games that get hurt,
like Jake Budd when he was coming out of Michigan,

(05:05):
he played in the bowl game I think was the
Orange Bowl, he injured his leg and that pretty much
did him in. I mean, when he came to the Broncos,
he really couldn't make the roster because he had injuries. So,
knowing as though injuries are a part of the game,
and we know that everyone's making a substantial amount of money, coaches,
institutions and c double A, it was like, if you
gave the athletes a little of what you were making,

(05:29):
maybe you were still would have had guys kriam and Haye,
we want more, but for the most part you would
acquire the stomach mumblings.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
But they did not do that.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
Well, now you've got this whole Wild West situation going
on with nil and everything else.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
That's it's ridiculous.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
Ncaa is Senior VP of External Affairs, Tim Buckley said
today courts across the country granted relief to eligible athletes
who already had every opportunity to compete in college are
failing to appreciate the destabilizing effect their rulings are having
on college sports. Lawyers bringing these cases seemingly won't be
satisfied until every professional athlete can treat college sports as
a fallback option, regardless of the opportunity at strips from

(06:06):
those will never have a chance to begin their collegiate
sports experience. Not to be outdone, the Twitter account for
the Texas Trial Group Downton's firm fired back today on
Twitter saying, hey, Timmy, we are in.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
Fact to those lawyers and this isn't how we feel
at all. So it looks like this is not getting
better anytime soon. Well, here's what we've seen.

Speaker 4 (06:26):
We've seen several players petition the NCAA for extra years.
There have been players who have played on the collegiate
level for.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
Like six, seven, eight years, right because.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
Guys Haden was in college for like a decade.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
Is this like, I mean, ridiculous.

Speaker 4 (06:43):
And I know it's a notion that well the guy
that blew this up, and I don't believe it's his fault.
But when you look out there on Twitter, some was saying, well,
it's Trinidad Chambers's fault because Murdy came back and he
was just like, hey, listen, he had something I don't
know if his mono whatever it was that prevented him
from playing. He was like, hey, I should get another
medical year for that. And he was given that year

(07:06):
because it was like either he come out and put
himself in an NFL draft where some draft analysts didn't
have him that high.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
But ideas if he.

Speaker 4 (07:13):
Went back to school for twenty twenty six, he would
be one of the top three quarterbacks coming out, like
the conversation was going to be between him and arch Manning.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
Right, So he.

Speaker 4 (07:23):
Was able to get that year from the NCAA and
go back. But people are blaming him saying, well, he
started this note, he was a by product of it,
he took part in it. But this was, in my opinion,
a failure on behalf of the NCUBA.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
Yeah, and the NCAA is an institution, has really put
themselves squarely in the crosshairs.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
That they are in all by themselves.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
The problem has stemmed from the way that they did
things for so many years. There are simpler solutions than
what we're doing. But the reality is the NCAA is
as an enforcement negatives, it's probably run its course.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
We probably need a.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
New body to handle the Ever the evolved dynamic of
the college athlete.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
Now, well, here's.

Speaker 4 (08:05):
What college football was always right, even when I was
watching Marvin Jones and you know, Shade Tree with the
Knowles and they were winning national championships with Bobby Bowden
and Charlie Charlet. Charlie Ward, Yes, almost woul blink.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
On his ay.

Speaker 4 (08:23):
But the idea is that it was a business then
it still is a business. So it's been professional sports
even then, but the NCUBLEA classified it as an amateur
sport so they didn't have.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
To kind of kick in financially.

Speaker 4 (08:39):
Had they done that and recognize it and allowed somewhat
of a salary cap, then we wouldn't have this problem.
So to your point, yes, we need to do away
with the n CUBA because they have no power now,
and we need to go somewhat to an NFL format
where you have college football as a whole and then
you have somewhat of a players union.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
Yeah. What they won't do that then, and.

Speaker 4 (09:03):
The reason they won't because union it's a dirty word.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
Well, I mean there's more to it than just that
being a dirty word, but.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
The the the aspects of college football players being state employees,
public employees, and then the insurances and there's all there's
all kinds.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
Of things hurt.

Speaker 4 (09:21):
We are we not there already, that's what we I
mean kind of we're dancing, we're tap dancing around it.

Speaker 3 (09:26):
We're there, we're tap dancing around it with the idols.

Speaker 4 (09:29):
Might as well put both feet down, ten toes down
and figure out and say, listen, we need to grip
kind of figure out some kind of college players association
and then put a group of individuals on that players
association so they can help these players navigate some of
these issues that they have.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
But also too throwing something.

Speaker 4 (09:50):
Where you're not allowing guys to kind of car hop
year in, year out, to go to different schools just
to grab a bag.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
Rocos signed a safety today plays Level Bailey on the
I R.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
Taylor rap. Let's rap about it, Okay.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
Somewhere in their car right now, Ryan Edwards is shaking
his head.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
Well, I mean, I mean, great pun.

Speaker 4 (10:13):
But let's let's just look at his rap sheet, if
you will, because when we look at what the Broncos,
as Zach shakesa said, I don't know why they're throwing
all the pawns out there joined the party.

Speaker 2 (10:25):
Your pun wasn't pun was a last good I'll give you.
I'll give you that.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
What you're saying Ben's wasn't, I'm saying Ben's giving puns
a bad rap.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
Well, yes, yes, ladies and gentleman. Yeah, see you got in.

Speaker 4 (10:40):
And I'm sure Ryan is listening in this car right
now and going, God, these dudes here.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
But this is exactly the scene from Ted Lasso and
like Roy Ketches muttering off to the side after he says,
you know it would.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
Be called sharp dressed men. I hate what you've done.

Speaker 4 (10:53):
To me, Yes, but I did. I understand why the
Broncos did this. Devell Bailey. They put him on IR
because off for what they're calling a broken leg or
something like that in the Falcons game. But this says
a lot about what the Broncos thing of their safety depth,
because outside of Brendon Jones telling no Funga and Devin Key,

(11:16):
what do you really have? You have guys on the roster.
But it is a belief that from my standpoint watching
that some of these guys are not guys that you
truly believe in that you have to bring in a
guy in Taylor Rap If I'm not mistaken, he was drafted,
but in the second round out of Buffalo, I believe.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
He's the sixty first all thick.

Speaker 1 (11:36):
Yeah, you got from the Chiefs in exchange for their
third and fifth.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
The Rams traded up to get him.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
He became the highest drafted player of Asian descent in
the history of the NFL, surpassing former Virginia Tech offensive
tackle Ed Wang.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
So there you go.

Speaker 4 (11:52):
What that tells you is that though Rap is a
guy that has some experience, he has some planning experience
and interceptions some TFLs. And when you look at some
of the Broncos backup safeties, I mean, you're not really
getting that. I mean, if you want to look at
the depth shot right now, it's almost like teler Rap
has already pisceled in in front of Jails Skinner and

(12:13):
Tyson Anderson.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
I thought he would show.

Speaker 4 (12:15):
Up more being as though he was a little more experienced,
and he spent time with Robert Limison with the Cincinnati Bengals,
but that hasn't come to fruition. So the Broncos have
to do something. And also, if Taylor rep comes in
and he learns the defense, and that's another part we
have to talk about. He learns the defense, it may
give the Broncos a window when it comes to Brenda

(12:36):
Jones contract saying Okay, well we don't have to do that.
We can kind of rely on tel a rap and
then I would allow the Broncos to retain Ridley Moss
and maybe' ja Kwad McMillan.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
He is a player that forced turnovers twelve interceptions over
the course of his career for fumble recovery. So he's
played and won a Super Bowl with the Rams in
twenty twenty one.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
So he's got super Bowl experience. I think it's a
good signing.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
I mean, even if he last year he didn't he
only played six games for Buffalo, but he looked not good, but.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
He had to heed the stuff.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
A knee injury, right, and so like if he returns
to formus could be something. This could be somebody who
in the locker room is you know, is a valuable addition.
So he's got a super Bowl ring, knows what it
takes to get there, and has experience in creating turnovers.

Speaker 4 (13:16):
Even if it doesn't do that, then here's what it
does to know that a lot of these guys are
already Tyson Anderson and Jail Skinner, they've they've been with
the team in this defense, especially Skinner. This is going
his fourth year, I believe. But you've had a chance
to participate in OTA's in mini camp and the last
couple of weeks of training camp. So now you're talking

(13:38):
about a guy coming in fresh off the street, and
what does that say to you as a guy that's
been here in that time time period.

Speaker 2 (13:47):
That says to me that, you know what, man, I
wasn't doing what I needed to do.

Speaker 4 (13:52):
That they had to go bring another guy off the
street to put in this back in to compete with
us in the locker room.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
That's the problem.

Speaker 4 (14:03):
That means that you had an emblemount of time to
showcase what you can do, especially if you're a jail
skinner and you really haven't sustained the love of confidence
and the coaches that they would have desired for a
guy who's been in the scheme for a while.

Speaker 1 (14:17):
Yeah, and I think, like I said, he yeah, the
skinner thing though, it does feel a little bit like
he's unnoticed.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
I mean, he was already unnoticed, But.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
It does feel like if you're doing this now, you
had the open roster spot. You had Level Bailey going,
you know, going to the IR and all that, so
you had the open roster spot. So if you were
going to make a move like this makes sense to do,
but it does feel a little bit like Jail Skinner's on.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
Notice.

Speaker 4 (14:40):
Well here now as we say that, let me throw
in this caveat now remember last year Drake Greenlaw, Now
Drake Greenlaw came in and he had to sit on
the sideline for a couple of games because of due
to injury. But you remember what he said he said that.

Speaker 2 (14:59):
In that on the air. Oh you know, I can't
say that in the air. Know was he talking about
him that one?

Speaker 4 (15:05):
Well, this is me paraphrasing when he talked about he
Liken learning vance Joseph defense to Spanish. That was quite
unfamiliar to him. So now with Taylor Rapp, if he
can come in here, and that's the thing, how quickly
can he get a grasp of the defense? Because if
he can't, that still gives somewhat of I guess leverage

(15:29):
or percentage of it to Tyson Anderson, but more j L.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
Skinner, Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
I'm trying to think.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
Exactly if he's been in this because I think he
has been in this defense before. Wasn't Wade Phillips the
defensive coordinator of the Rams when he was drafted the
year he was drafted, And I know Brandon Staley was
when you know when they when they won.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
But I'm pretty sure when he was drafted in.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
Twenty nineteen, Wade Phillips was the was the defensive coordinator,
and this.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
There is one year of overlap thee.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
I was gonna say, I'm pretty sure that he does
have experience with his defense in terminology because Advance's terminology
comes from Wade Loo is this mentor.

Speaker 2 (16:10):
Well, yeah, why that might be true.

Speaker 4 (16:14):
What I know is sometimes when you go through different systems,
you have to go back in your studies and if
you were a various student player and you wrote down
every note or are you very meticulous with your notes?
Now you can go back to that to rely on. Now,
some of the concepts are going to be the same.
They're worrying the verbiage. That's gonna be something that's going

(16:35):
to be different. But if he can count of lock down,
I would say even sixty percent Vance Joseph defense. Now,
I don't know how much we expect Taylor rap to
play in the game. So now we're talking about in
the Minnesota game, it's going to be the Game of Thrones,

(16:55):
right or better? Yet, what was the other what was
the other movie? Not Game of Thrones, also the Dragon
no no, no, no, where each section of the country.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
Gives their sacrifice. The Hunger Games. There you go, there
you go.

Speaker 4 (17:12):
I know it was right there. I can visualize it.
But yes, that's what the draft preseason game is gonna be.
It's gonna be the hunger Games for some of these Broncos.

Speaker 1 (17:20):
Safety Well, it's gonna be the hunger Games to see
who's hungry enough to go there A good job.

Speaker 3 (17:23):
They used to in that part five, six, six, nine
year old text line in the three h three. Then do
you remember shallow Keio He was reserved saying yes.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
Broncos signed to the Super Bowl fifty runs side late
in the off season as well. He recovered the on
side kick to clinch the AFC Championship Game. I feel
like Taylor rap could be to this team what Shilow
Keillo was to that team.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
Shallow Killo. By the way, uh.

Speaker 1 (17:41):
Got that job because he got on Twitter and was like, yo, coach,
you need a safety like they like they had no
plans on bringing him in. He reached out to Wave
Fellows on Twitter. Yes, publicly on Twitter if they brought
him in. He had a great tryout and then there
you go.

Speaker 4 (17:55):
Sometimes you have to be your biggest advocate when someone
else is not doing it for you. And I remember
my time during a coaching internship with the team that
year when they went to the Super Bowl. I remember Shallow.
He was one of those young guys who I mean,
very charismatic, and he was just trying to find his
way and he understood where he was in the pecking

(18:17):
order when it came to the safety position, and he
knew that, Hey, the way to cut his teeth and
preserve an opportunity to play to make the team was
on special teams. And man, he used to go up
run down on special team like his hair was on fire.
So I appreciate that. It's just kind of similar to
some of the videos. Remember in the pre draft process
what we saw quentn Miners when he's punching trees.

Speaker 2 (18:38):
And gallons of water.

Speaker 4 (18:40):
Sometimes, man, you have to go above and beyond to
make sure that people see you.

Speaker 1 (18:45):
That's what I do every day, go above and beyond
to make sure that people well what.

Speaker 2 (18:50):
You're talking about and describing. That's something entirely different. It'scos
Country Night back up.

Speaker 4 (18:56):
For this.

Speaker 1 (19:01):
Broncos fans will be happy though, friend of Mendoza through
an interception, wouldn't uh in a particularly good throw.

Speaker 2 (19:10):
I wouldn't say that wasn't a good throw. The reing
it was a good throw. The red was late.

Speaker 4 (19:15):
They always tell you as a quarterback, never throw back
across the muddle late.

Speaker 2 (19:20):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (19:21):
And then they followed it up by taking the ball
out of his hands for a couple of runs and
let him throw it on third down, third and nine
or whatever. And he clearly had the nerves. He sailed
it high over an open receiver. So it'd be interesting
to see. I always love like, I don't care about
the interception, I care what you do after the interception, right,
especially in a preseason game. Not a regular season game.
I care about turn, but in the preseason I want
to see how you come back from that.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
Right.

Speaker 1 (19:42):
You got killers in the league, like Matt Staffer. Staffordl
throw an interception and then he'll just kill He'll kill
you the next one.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
Okay, that's not because.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
No, but I'm just saying the great yeah that had
that a goldfish.

Speaker 2 (19:52):
They got the ability to shake that off. I get that.

Speaker 4 (19:54):
But being as though you're a veteran guy, you have
a lot of that mentality built in because you always
built up the callous of.

Speaker 2 (20:04):
Making those mistakes.

Speaker 4 (20:05):
And Matthew staffordman, he's got the I'm gonna look right
and I'm the throwd left type of look the look off.
But with Mendoza and any young quarterback, You're absolutely right.
I want to see, not necessarily just how the player
themselves react, but what does the play call.

Speaker 2 (20:24):
Them look like. He just threw an interception and it
was a pick six. They took it out of his hands,
they ran it twice.

Speaker 4 (20:28):
Well, do you go back to him and let him
rebuild his level of confidence. That is what I'm looking
for when you see when I see young players at
any position.

Speaker 2 (20:37):
Right, And that's the thing. They didn't. They took it
out of his hands.

Speaker 3 (20:39):
They had Mike Washington run a pair of times for
basically a yard.

Speaker 1 (20:43):
And then Mendoza was trying to throw to Jalen Naylor,
who had a step and if he puts the ball
to the right spot on the outside there, that.

Speaker 3 (20:50):
Would have been a completion. But but he over threw him.

Speaker 1 (20:52):
He looked a little little rattled, a little nervous, and
to be fair, I mean that Texans defensive line was
warming him a little bit.

Speaker 3 (20:58):
But I don't know.

Speaker 1 (20:58):
If you're a Broncos fan, I think you're you know,
anytime the Raiders Young Prize first Overall quarterback doos a pick,
you're kind of happy.

Speaker 4 (21:05):
I mean, look from the fact of the team being
the Raiders being expected rival and reason haven't been a
rivalry in some years.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
But based on probably history, you go like.

Speaker 4 (21:16):
Yeah, the quarterback isn't looking good at the moment, but
we know how this thing works. Some guys turn up
the volume become better players. Others, hey man, they turn
down the flame and they flame out. So we'll get
a chance to see what Fernando Mendoza is going to be.

Speaker 2 (21:33):
And we can't really make judgments now. He's way too early.
I'm just saying, if you're a Broncos fan because of that, yeah,
you definitely celebrate.

Speaker 4 (21:42):
You would want to see that happen against your team
and his Kirk Cousins throwing pick six and maybe Ronnie
Moss j Kwan or ps two. But once again, it
is preseason.

Speaker 2 (21:54):
You live and you.

Speaker 4 (21:56):
Learn, and I'm sure Mendoza is gonna learn from that
particular play.

Speaker 1 (21:59):
Move for yeah, that he will. And you've got obviously
at games at fourteen nothing. Now, Houston winning that one
looks like they're in a little bit of cruise control
early on that one. We've got Broncos Packers coming up,
Packers already in town, stay at the Western. So if
you guys want to pull fire alarms, you know which hotel.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
To go to.

Speaker 1 (22:18):
Then, not saying you should do that, I'm just saying
if that was what you wanted to do, they are
staying at the Western.

Speaker 2 (22:22):
So now why did you have the repeat it twice?

Speaker 4 (22:25):
You've repeated it the first time and he had a disclaim, Well,
then you repeat it again.

Speaker 1 (22:30):
In no way am I trying to always give the
Broncos an edge. I would never sit here and use
this platform to unfairly malign visiting teams that are coming
here quarterbacked by Jordan Love, you know, I mean, I
don't know. I just I do what I can speaking
to your audience, all right, So I'm speaking listening right now.

Speaker 2 (22:52):
I'm listening, and I would like to say it's subliminal,
but it's not. Well you make it.

Speaker 1 (22:57):
The negative perception surrounding Denver's run game, I think it's
a bunch of hogwash.

Speaker 4 (23:02):
Right when Davontae Williams was here. He was often criticized
for the Broncos run game not getting on try and
it seemed as though there's been a continuation of the
same thing because that's been an issue for the Denver Broncos,
not being able to put together a hundred yard rusher.

(23:22):
Like I think it was going back to what twenty
twenty three where the first one hundred yard rusher in
some years was Latavius Murray.

Speaker 2 (23:30):
Right, he was a hundred yard rusher.

Speaker 4 (23:32):
And I know everyone takes shot at the running backs
and say that it's their fault, and in some cases
you can blame runners, but for the most part, no,
And when you look at what happened in the game
against the Falcons, you and I talked about it before.
When you looked at Jonah Coleman, right, he had a

(23:52):
run that he ripped off to the left side. The
dB came in really low, he bounced off with the
spintar and got vertical. That run looked like it was
designed to go front side, but he saw everything clogged
up and he decided, well, let me run where there
is a little glimpse of daylight.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
And RJ.

Speaker 4 (24:10):
Harvey has been criticized, And I go back to the
Falcons game. Not the Falcons game, but the San Francisco
forty nine Ers game when RJ Harvey played in that
game and he would.

Speaker 2 (24:20):
Bounce to the outside.

Speaker 4 (24:21):
Yeah, you want the running back to stay on trot,
show a little patience, but he gets.

Speaker 2 (24:26):
Paid to run. He's a running back.

Speaker 4 (24:29):
He's looking for ways to keep the chains moving and
sometimes if you have the speed to get outside, you
better make it work when you get there.

Speaker 1 (24:37):
Well, that's the thing, is like having the speed to
get outside in college is one thing, and the pros
everybody's fast, and so it's like that that's not as effective.
And I think that's RJ's a special athlete. I just
don't think some of the things that worked for him
at the college level, as far as bouncing it outside,
are going to work for him at the NFL level.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
Well, I would say that it wouldn't. It's not going
to work every.

Speaker 4 (24:59):
Single time because if you continue to do it on
a consistent basis, the defense is going to know that.
That's going to be the Scotland Port. Hey, guys, when
things get clogged up, here's a running back he's expecting
to bounce.

Speaker 2 (25:11):
So if you have a guy who's blisting from the
edge or your.

Speaker 4 (25:14):
Outside rushers, just remember when you see twelve in the backfield,
that's what you love to do. Now you may dip
in to get you to kind of peek inside and
then try to get outside because he knows he has
to speed, but you have to make sure you keep
your outside on free. But I don't think that there
is fair judgment with running backs here, with the Denver
Broncos and even other running backs around the league, because

(25:38):
are we gonna look up front to see which guy
missed his block, which guy got stuck in the hole,
because you may have the run play that Hey, hey,
your coach is telling you, here's the crease. Is the
A gap hit the A gap where you're saying, coach,
that's jammed up? Yeah, that's like two twenty five, right,
What do you want me to do?

Speaker 1 (25:59):
Parvey a guy who only average three point seven per
carry last year, For perspective, that's less than Adam Prentiss did,
uh and ten percent of his entire season yardage came
on one play. His rushing guardage came on one play,
that dead fifty yard one that he that he housed there.
So you know, there's a lot of high variants running

(26:20):
with RJ. Harvey's either breaking one or he's ripping or
he's just getting you know, short short, short gain, you know,
one of two yard games, or he's ripping one off.

Speaker 4 (26:27):
Okay, okay, So I'm okay with running backs ripping off
yards where it may be one to two because here's
what I know. Eventually those one to two yards are
gonna eventually turn into five, six and then maybe explosive.
That's why you have to stick with it. That's why
you have to stay with it. But I also understand

(26:48):
this too. Some young running backs they lack a little
patience so allowing the play to develop in front of them.
And when I think about the patient aspect of it
is when you're running a system where you are pulling
your guard, that requires a little patient patients from the
running back to allow the play to develop and then.

Speaker 2 (27:09):
You can hit the plaque.

Speaker 4 (27:10):
Because in college they were so used to getting down
here right away. But if you're talking about blocking, you mono,
you mono right downhill, no guard, poor, no tide in movement,
no pre sat movement to me, offensive line, fire off
the ball, you know that what the play is, you
fire off the ball, you smack a guy in the face.
And what I'm sitting, what I'm not seeing is on

(27:32):
a consistent basis, the Broncos offensive line and certain guys
on the offensive.

Speaker 2 (27:37):
Line not establishing a new line of scrimmage. That's what
you're supposed to do.

Speaker 1 (27:46):
Six nine to zero. The text line. A couple of
texts coming in said one nine. What happened to Grant
is he still with Kawa. Is celebrating new fatherhood.

Speaker 2 (27:54):
He's on baby watch. He's on baby Watch, baby watching
be back in a few weeks. Uh omg.

Speaker 1 (28:01):
Hailstorm in the Springs right now, nailing us marble size
run for cover, no joke.

Speaker 3 (28:06):
So if you're in the Springs right now, you may
be in the path of a hailstorm.

Speaker 4 (28:10):
Hey I believe that because was it last week? We
got uh hail in my area And at first I
was like, is it snoying outside? I'm like, just really
to be snoy And I walked on the porch and
then I got hitting the foot, but you got you
got pinged on the toe like no, no, no, no, no,
no no, not not.

Speaker 2 (28:28):
On the bridge of the foot. Yeah, yeah, Yes.

Speaker 1 (28:31):
On Saturday, there was serious flooding from hale around Den
Like some places got hit so hard that there was
like the it became a flash flood of hail.

Speaker 4 (28:41):
Hey, Chris Balley once said El nino it is Spanish
for the nio.

Speaker 2 (28:51):
Oh, we're gonna get enough.

Speaker 1 (28:53):
Chris Farley quotes in the show on a regular basis,
we should find a way to shoehorn Matt Foley, motivational
speaker in again.

Speaker 4 (29:00):
Oh yeah, living in a van down by the river.

Speaker 3 (29:05):
I'm just saying, which is uh, you know, if Jaylee Skinner.

Speaker 2 (29:08):
Might be if sor rep thing.

Speaker 4 (29:10):
Wow, see see wow, see I can get it in there.

Speaker 1 (29:15):
Still joint practice unsportsmanlike conduct finds Yo, what's the deal
with that?

Speaker 2 (29:22):
I guess they're trying to reduce the.

Speaker 1 (29:23):
Amount of fighting that goes on in these things, and
so they are now going to do unsportsman like conduct fines.

Speaker 2 (29:31):
You know, the league always trying to take your money. Uh,
I know you I have. I'm telling you, and I
tell the story.

Speaker 1 (29:38):
The best thing ever I've been down on the sidelines
for a lot of games, all right.

Speaker 3 (29:42):
The best thing I have ever witnessed is one young.

Speaker 1 (29:45):
Nick Ferguson heck a lot Heckling, the uniform and standards
guy out there, the checking people's socks and stuff like that,
to find him, right them up and find him. The
best is literally the best thing I've ever seen was
sitting out there watching Dick Heckle, the the uniform standards guy.

Speaker 4 (29:59):
Maybe because I know, I mean, every player, you know,
you lot your money, and there's a lot of players
who are not making a lot of money, especially during
the preseason games.

Speaker 2 (30:08):
It's like, come on, man, And with the league.

Speaker 4 (30:10):
Now doing this because obviously there was a fight I
think it's a Dallas and the.

Speaker 1 (30:16):
Saints, yeah, freaks.

Speaker 4 (30:19):
Melee, whatever you want to call it, and they find
them like what is it? Half a million dollars and
it's just like, okay, I know the league put out
a rule a coaches, we want you to make sure
in these joint practices that you keep the fighting to
a minimum.

Speaker 2 (30:34):
And I'm like, have you ever been to a joint practice.

Speaker 4 (30:37):
If you haven't seen what happens in the joint practice,
you know at some point in the summer with competition,
something is going to break.

Speaker 2 (30:46):
Out, right, But finding guys, I mean.

Speaker 4 (30:50):
The teams like half a million dollars. I think that's
a little ridiculous, man.

Speaker 1 (30:55):
Yeah, I mean they're they're trying to put their stamp
on it one way or another to get.

Speaker 3 (30:58):
You know, to get this this.

Speaker 2 (31:00):
They put no stamp on it.

Speaker 1 (31:02):
No, well they put a stamp on the self address
return Henvelo for that money.

Speaker 3 (31:05):
You said that down out of the league office.

Speaker 4 (31:07):
That's the one thing about it, See the league, it's
they're like the government cont you know how the government.

Speaker 3 (31:11):
Just take tax takes like I'm just never showed back up.
You know what we over, We just took too much.

Speaker 2 (31:16):
Here, have a little refund for us.

Speaker 4 (31:18):
And the one thing is when it happens in the game,
you know right away when it's a flag thrown, you're
going to get a FedEx. Even when the flag is
not thrown, you're going to get a FedEx. And you
come creeping in the locker room that next day, peeking
around the corner. You look at your locker and you go,
oh man, they didn't get me yet. You go eat lunch,
you come by, hey, hey, hey, hold.

Speaker 3 (31:39):
On, watch that happen in real time.

Speaker 1 (31:41):
That's come from Melvin Gordon got hitt in real time
when we got into the lockers, man, I was in
here on just taped up there to the top. You
can see him like you walk around when you walk
into the locker room, you can see the thing taped
to the TV.

Speaker 4 (31:50):
You already know it's like, come on, man, what are
we doing? You know what joint practices are? You know
what's gonna happen at some point? What happened to the leeway,
what happened to the warning?

Speaker 3 (32:01):
Leap saw an opportunity to make money.

Speaker 2 (32:03):
You get what happened. Usually you get one warning, you
get a warning, no wanting. They just take money, just
taking it, take that, takes trade gangster. Yes, terrible.

Speaker 1 (32:13):
If we come back and talk a little bit about
this Taylor rap signing, what his role in the defense.
Could he be the key to unlocking something else or
is it just gonna be no skinner off our backs?

Speaker 2 (32:22):
