Speaker 1 (00:00):
Six nine zero the text line.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
As always, thanks to Ryan Blackburn for joining us in
the last segment, talk a little bit about the Denver
Nuggus mistaken part of that. You got Brocos Country Night
dot Com, slash podcast or work each podcast, Apple iTunes, Spotify,
the free iHeartRadio app where you can get take it
for that podcast, as well as the archives. Anyway, Scott
to the KWA comes from Hotline and bring on our
guy up the never post. Sean Keyler, Sean, how you

(00:25):
doing you dodge in the weather out there?

Speaker 1 (00:27):
The way Dion's dodge and subpoenas.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
I want to look at that he had to go
there ready to start. I thought I thought I was
a mean one veniment, all right. You know, if the
amount of jokes and emails I've gotten about I ain't
hart in the memes you've seen, I ain't hard to
find unless you're serving me. Papers have come kind of
back and forth, pretty pretty hot and heavy the last

(00:54):
few days.

Speaker 4 (00:55):
You a mean one, mister grinch.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
I mean, look, look that one wasn't even I didn't
even fire that. It wasn't even a harsh one like
that wasn't even.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
You put that in insane, But you were ready to go.

Speaker 5 (01:10):
You knew Sean was coming on and you couldn't wait
to unload that one.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
Look, I'm not saying that Neon was out there like
a scene for the Matrix, you know, just just just
flailing back in.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Slow motion or anything like that. I just, you know,
I just.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
I mean, look, and if you know anything about that, luck,
because I know about that lawsuit. So it's like it's
this has been going on forever, has to doing the
security guard back when Shiloh was in high school. Like
this thing has been going on forever. It has all
kinds of like funny little twist and turns. But yeah,
I just want to reference it as far as the
rest of that goes. What do we think about where
CEU is in the in the process, and you know,
there's some articles out there about, you know, declining ratings

(01:47):
for Colorado and how that may affect the way people
look at things. You know, how do we feel about
this season?

Speaker 3 (01:54):
I think they're all I mean, you can see they're
separate strands of the same argument and the same case,
but they all come back to the same thing that
we've talked about it a number of times, and that
is Man, this is a This is a big opener,
and it's a big month of what is a big year.

(02:16):
It raises the temperature. He's not on the hot seat
when you can't afford to buy him out. But that
doesn't mean it gets lukewarm or it makes everybody And
you can still have a seat that's uncomfortable. It can
be hard to sit in, it can be hard to
have those spell sometimes normally normal situations where you don't
get controlled media to ask you questions. It could be

(02:38):
uncomfortable to have to face those things. But nothing in
you know, nothing in prime world is normal. You just
kind of have to react to where it's at. But
I think it just adds just another wayer of I
don't want some pressure, but yeah, it's expectation that we
need to change this narrative. The only way you change
all these narriatives of the coming in out. We've talked

(02:59):
about TV right for a couple of years, or at
least earlier this year, and then those ratings and people
are like, oh, what a shot, and I'm like, no,
this is this has been out there and we've written
about it a number of times. But the honeymoon's officially over.
It's about re channeling. You know, it's kind of marked
Mark two two point zero and what can you do

(03:20):
with it going forward? And Tech is huge that way,
whether he gets a full week of practice to hang
with him or has to go to court, it doesn't
help when you get that kind of stakes for the opener.

Speaker 5 (03:33):
I mean, Jean, do you think a distraction like this
could actually elevate and motivate the CEU buffs that go
out there and have a great outing against Jojiah Tech
to open up the season, because this is their coach,
this is their leader, this is the motivator of their team.
Who is I guess, for all the tents and purposes,

(03:53):
is being attacked at this particular moment. Will this motivate
the cu bus players who go out there and play well?

Speaker 3 (04:00):
I think it will motivate them. When they will motivate them.
You can't motivate somebody to not knock you over. If
Georgia Tech's just bigger as they were a year ago.
Now here's where it's being overblown from. And and this
is going to sound very pro to you, frankly, and
that is I think we overrate, at least on game day.

(04:21):
Other than the key decisions because he's been burned by him,
but some of the coaching impact and the preparation, I
think Neon Sanders is for as good as CEO in
that role as he sees it. In this program, I
think he is very dependent on his top assistance, right,

(04:42):
and what happened last year, yeah, you know, and those
guys are different now. I think the upgrade there is
where this kind of distractability might be minimized, if that
makes sense, because he doesn't have to have his hands
on as many says. And I think an upgrade certainly

(05:02):
in the case offensively with Brendon Marion as opposed to
Pat Shermer a year ago at this time. I mean
that's the former head coach, right, and the guy who's
maybe looking to be a head coach again. I think
that you haven't talked about enough in terms of from
a preparation standpoint in this distraction air quotes stand by

(05:23):
going into this is they have guys on staff who
have been college head coaches and are kind of use
to having oversee everything in a pension, and they don't
necessarily have to do that next week or that first
week of September. But I think that upgrade. There is
another sign of what you know, we talked about the
coach prime effect. I think we're going to see if

(05:44):
there's a Brendan Marrion effect and if they aren't as
phased as the pundits good or bad want them to
be in that opener. If they can score thirty or
more points in those first three games, which we have
the first four, or as we've talked about, it's a
massive September for them to get off to the right
store or to set a tone. If there's four and

(06:04):
thirty points a game, which they when they've done that,
they've done really well. I'm not sure any of this
other off the field stuff, some of which is very
very old, if that really matters.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
Tyker Sean Kaeler from the Never Post Witching Gears a
little bit. We talked with Ryan Blackburn in the last
segment about the Nuggets of Payton Watson trade. What are
the Nuggets doing? Man, I'm looking at this thing. I'm like, man,
this team just continues.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
To not get better and balancing the books like they're
doing just like.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
The fans want. Yeah, let's balance the books. The sense
the slogan for the team this year.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
You gets fits right Nuggets twenty twenty seven. We got
under we got under the eight, We balanced the books,
we got under the apron. No, it's not, it's it's
really good accounting and really poor roster management. And unfortunately
that's sure. Ryan went over a lot of the battle
scars of this, and we knew something like this might

(06:57):
be coming. I thought he was either going to be
there was just no great scenario because even they waited
Peyton Watson out, he took six point five million to
come back. He didn't want to. I think, let's be clear,
I think Peyton Watson wanted to get paid and he
may have wanted to get paid during that first round
of the Timber Bowl series, as we've kind of danced around,

(07:19):
and that will be asked and was asked about his
health and his motivation to play. You know, that was
mentioned at the time, and it's been talked about a
lot in various circles ever since. I like Peyton personally,
I like this I like this family and folks I've
met with them. I don't want to presume the worst
of him, but I do know he wanted to get paid.

(07:40):
People in his family saying that off record to us
in social opportunities pretty much from the previous November and December,
because I don't think they they didn't like getting passed
up by Christian Brown's camp and where that money went,
because it was kind of a ham or me and
they didn't get it. And he took advance to his
credit of that situation, where then he could prove that

(08:02):
the Nuggets might have made a back bad decision. So
now he has to prove to the calves that they
made a good decision and make the Nuggets look worse,
and then we will see as time goes on. But
I it's a it's a really bad look now depending
on what corresponding moved at these draft picks and some
of the more this cap roo helps to open up.

(08:23):
If the Nuggets don't make a significant kind of counter
move to offset this, which that book they probably will
u then it's really bad. It's really poor in isolation.
But we have to see what they do to as
a second move to react to it.

Speaker 5 (08:38):
Yeah, but Sean, but what is the counter move that
would somehow keep the Nuggets in that contender conversation?

Speaker 4 (08:46):
Because last year.

Speaker 5 (08:48):
Even with the Peyton Watson, the Nuggets went in the
conversation and then they got knocked off by an inspired,
undemanned Timberwolf's team.

Speaker 4 (08:56):
So what does that look like for the Nuggets now?
And how do you aspire the Nuggets fan base? Hey,
you lose Peyton Watson, there's no tim hardaway, Julia. Hey,
well we still want you to be excited about what's
going on.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
Yeah, I ain't just even to use to Marjorrosen a
car dealer, like, there aren't a lot of great free
agent kind of wacky moves that you can do. You don't.
The Nuggets need a need a time machine. They need

(09:30):
Bill and Ted to bring the phone book back and
try to undo some of these contracts. The only thing
that such, the only thing that can do, the only
thing that can save the Nuggets in twenty seven twenty six,
is a tartist or some kind of time space device. Yeah,
you just can't the DeLorean. You need to need to
get Doc Brown and Marty to come back and set
this thing right. I don't, I don't know. You've just

(09:52):
gone down too far these paths. You then talked about
this one with just kind of over overgifting. You're eyes
to try to keep this core together, and the core
for health. I'm not gonna you know, you can ask
about you to make accusations about Jamal Murray's motivation. I
think you'd have fewer question in eron Gordon's motivation. But
you basically had Murray's motivation and or health and Eric

(10:16):
Gordon's health, and you haven't moved forward because you you
doubled down on those two things. Uh, and you got
burned for it and also burned for you know, Zeeknagy
in general and Christian Brown frankly based on his first
post contract extension years. So I airing a lot out there,

(10:38):
and I think that's the double Again. That's why this
is frustrating, not just in isolation, but you're like, who
are you going to get right now that is a
like for like or pretty close to a up and coming,
you know, defensive minded athletic wing who is now finding
his offense. When are you going to find someone that
you would to grow up? Let's keep this mind of

(11:00):
the draft picks. He he might be the best first
dround That's the really frustrating thing is is Seyton Watson
might be the best first round draft pick the Nuggets
have have produced just on stats and again Christian Brown,
and if you're on that team, you can debate that
he certainly was a bigger contributor in the playoffs, and
you can make the case that Peyton Watson hasn't done
squat in a game that needs anything that I think

(11:23):
that's fair. That's a fair counter back against Watson and
he's going to have to prove that in shape that
But regardless, statistically, he's the best first rounder in terms
of growth talent going from A to B because I
think Brown was pretty good. He wouldn't if he wasn't
any good, Michael lebron Michael Want wouldn't have played him

(11:44):
with that championship team. And that's again, that's strictly frustrating
because you watch somebody else potentially pay get the payoff
of what could be Peyton Watson's peak years, whether they're
you know, all star years or not. It's it's not great.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
Keeler from the Never post last one for me, Sean
switching gears to a team that might be or at
least his eyeballing a championship this year, That Never Broncos.
They got a preseason game against the Green Bay Packers
here tomorrow. What questions do we have left for this team.
As we get closer and closer the season, well, it's
gonna be.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
All about Bo tomorrow. And how does he look against
someone he's not taking a punch at. You know, isn't
it funny that we spent the week talking about Nick
Benito's ankle because Bo was pulling on it, not Bo's.
I think that's a good sign, although a weird one,
a bit of a twist on the narrative. It's it's
large about Nick's tomorrow. I think you know, we we
the Safety trade was interested that the safety acquisition of

(12:41):
Rap was interesting to me. I think they again, it's
a I think George and Sean are always a pretty
good two and a half steps ahead of what we
think they need. And I think they say a lot
sometimes sometimes they're actually say a lot more than their words.
Sean's very big into word salad and Peyton's very horse.
Payton is very big and say nothing at all because

(13:02):
you know, it's a great way of just kind of
dodging innovating. It's the point of what you want to
get out of them. So I think some of the
reserve secondary guys are playing for their lives. So I'll
be curious on the on the on that lower forty
percent of the roster, who looks like they're going to
stick somewhere at safety and who's going to stick somewhere
at white out where you've got a pretty good room

(13:23):
if everybody's healthy. I had somebody actually about a key bomber,
and today I was state friends, they know, they feel
pretty good about Jeri k. They don't feel less about
a key boarder. And I said, yeah, I understand that
room is a little lot deeper and Sean loves slow Jordan,
so it's a spot that's not going to get moved. Uh.

(13:44):
So you've got some guys that on the on the
back end of the roster, they're playing for some spots.
So I think those are two two and I on
and the continual merchants of my guy, Red Murdock is
if you you know, he's a fun guy to watch,
and then you get to talk to him and talk
to people who know him well, he's an easy guy
to fall up. So hopefully that that serge continues on

(14:05):
the fields for it, and.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
We're looking forward to seeing that coverage begins here at
three pm, myself Nick Ferguson, before we give way to
Ryan Edwards on countdown to kickoff and of course the
game here at seven o'clock on KOA Shaw. We appreciate
the time as always, look forward to checking in with
again next week.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
All right, see you tomorrow night, guys.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
Take care, absolute to take care Sean Keylor from the
Denver Post and when we come back, we'll.

Speaker 1 (14:30):
We'll get to a four six pack right here on
Broncos Country to Night.

Speaker 2 (14:35):
Our guest tonight, Ryan Blackburn and Sean Keeler for joining
us in the previous segments.

Speaker 1 (14:39):
As missed any party, they can go to Broncos Country
Night dot.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
Com, Slash podcast and or Apple iTunes, Spotify, the Free iHeartRadio.
Nailed it again, double nailed it. Yeah, Hammer and nailed
it really. That's a little segue for you and an
upcoming sponsor, and.

Speaker 1 (14:57):
You can get the take It for grat of podcast
there as well. With that, let's get the NFL six pack.
It's time for the NFL six pad.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
I'm going to train the last year insight and insight
information you can't find anywhere else. No.

Speaker 1 (15:10):
Six the top six NFL headline excellent, that's for Nick.

Speaker 4 (15:20):
What I was like?

Speaker 1 (15:23):
All right, Bill, Bill and tough.

Speaker 6 (15:25):
Through two preseason games against the Cardinals and Texans, Fernando
Mendoza is eighteen for thirty one for one hundred and
eighty three yards. That's five point nine yards per attempt,
one touchdown, one interception, and a passer rating of seventy
two point four. For sake of reference, a passer rating
of seventy two point four among last year's qualifying quarterbacks

(15:47):
would have ranked forty seventh, right behind JJ McCarthy and
just ahead of Jake Browning. What do you make of
this and do you think it's any cause for concern
for Raider Nation.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
Look, I've been lower on Mendoza in his pro prospects
than most, but I'm going to say it's too early
to be making these kind of judgments. I mean, if
we did this with Bo after his second game, it
would have been good either, I think, you know, if
you look at Mendoza's performance against the Texans or definitely
some things to be concerned about. But he's also had
some flash plays too. That TD he threw against the
Cardinals that was a dot. So you know, I had

(16:20):
two small sample size. He's still a young guy, but
certainly not as I think certainly not where I think
Raiders fans wanted him to be at this juncture.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
That not to say he can't get there and can't
get there quickly.

Speaker 5 (16:32):
I mean that's hogwashed to say that he's not where
he raidst fans want him to be.

Speaker 4 (16:37):
He is a rookie.

Speaker 5 (16:38):
Every rookie struggles at every position in the league when
you first break in, don't forget paid. Manny threw twenty
seven interceptions his first year in the league, so there's
still much to be desired to buy. Fernanda Mendoza. When
you watch him play, you see that he looks like
an NFL quarterback. He just needs to get more school

(17:00):
and that only comes with more reps. And I'll down
say this, the more mistakes he make, the better he
can become as a quarterback, because ideas that you learn
from those mistakes a pose who's succumbing to him? So
I like the progression and we're going to see him
fail more than he succeeds.

Speaker 6 (17:17):
And you know, hopefully, if you're a Raiders fan, it's
okay that he's taking some time because it seems like
everyone in that organization, from Tom Brady on down wants
him to sit on the bench take some time to develop,
and it's really gonna I guess come down to Kirk
Cousins and how long he can keep him on that bench.

Speaker 4 (17:35):
Two.

Speaker 6 (17:38):
Today, the NFL find both the Dallas Cowboys and New
Orleans Saints five hundred thousand dollars after there was a
series of fights at the joint practice between the two teams.
I'll also note today there was another big series of
fights at a joint practice between the Giants and Dolphins.
What do you think of the league's response and do
you think it's too harsh or too lenient?

Speaker 4 (18:00):
It is too harsh, man.

Speaker 5 (18:01):
Look, when you sign up for these joint practices, you
have a bunch of guys competing for jobs. I'm not
even gonna bring the weather into the equation, but competition
intensifies in these practices because the practices.

Speaker 4 (18:16):
Are more intense than we see during the games. Right.

Speaker 5 (18:20):
So, I think this was a little over blown by
the league, and the league is just to say that, hey,
we send out the memo, we warned you, but now
we have to make teams examples. I think that you
should give a team a warning first and then excessify.

Speaker 4 (18:37):
Them may mean fighting.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
The US fine, it's not the Broncos gonna find right,
see we'll sign up.

Speaker 4 (18:46):
Well, see, it wasn't a joint practice, but it was.

Speaker 5 (18:48):
It was a practice where physical took place.

Speaker 1 (18:50):
I'm saying, so I think it's fair. I don't. I
don't like it, but I think it's fair. I mean,
they're trying to crack down on this.

Speaker 2 (18:56):
You're finding the organization, not the players so well, you know,
I think I think they're trying to say, hey, look,
get it under control, or we're going to get it
under control for you.

Speaker 5 (19:06):
Well, so we've seen the league have egregious fines and
excessive fines for a lot of things.

Speaker 4 (19:11):
Has that stopped players so far?

Speaker 3 (19:14):
No?

Speaker 4 (19:14):
Absolutely not so.

Speaker 1 (19:19):
Three next up here.

Speaker 6 (19:23):
Saquon Barkley was also critical of joint practices. Following the
Eagles joint practices this week, he said, quote, I'm the
wrong guy to ask because I hate joint practices. To
be honest, I think one day is good. More times
than not, nothing good comes out of it. When you
have the work, it's good. But then you get the pushing,
the shoving and someone says this about you, and it's

(19:43):
I don't know about that, but you're this it's immature
when you get to that level. End quote. What do
you make of Saquon Barkley's response? And do you think
you know between the fighting, the fines, NFLA, NBA, you
fix this or we'll fix it for you. Do you
think joint practices might be on their way out?

Speaker 4 (19:59):
Maybe?

Speaker 1 (20:00):
I think there is value in it. I think Barkley
hit the nail on the head though.

Speaker 2 (20:03):
The multiple days thing is what leads to resentments, you know,
it's what leads to the fight.

Speaker 1 (20:07):
You have multiple days like.

Speaker 2 (20:08):
That, You got guys plotting, you know at night after
somebody hit somebody, or we'll get that back for you.

Speaker 1 (20:12):
You know that kind of stuff.

Speaker 2 (20:13):
You have one day A joy practice I think is
good just to break things up.

Speaker 1 (20:16):
I don't.

Speaker 2 (20:18):
Necessarily buy the They're useless. You're not getting anything out
of it. There's a lot of value I think, to
get out of it. But there is an epidemic of fighting.
I think we should be more focused on why can't
guys keep their tempers in check?

Speaker 1 (20:29):
You know that kind of stuff? I haveing some personal
accountability whoa whoa whoa?

Speaker 4 (20:32):
Keeping tempers in check?

Speaker 5 (20:34):
You know what it's like to have a Benjamin all
right across from you, talking.

Speaker 4 (20:38):
Smack, and then he kisses a pass.

Speaker 5 (20:40):
You want some get back, Roy, you want to get
put your hand in his face and say, hey, no, yeah.

Speaker 4 (20:46):
You've got lucky the other day. You're not gonna get
lucky now.

Speaker 1 (20:48):
And you're not allowed to fully tackle him exactly.

Speaker 5 (20:51):
And he's talking smack, so I know he's not gonna
play in the game we play.

Speaker 1 (20:55):
Out preseason, So I'm gonna talk that talking.

Speaker 4 (20:57):
I can't get any get.

Speaker 5 (20:58):
Back, so I'm gonna get it right down in practice
in that moment. And if they so happened to find me,
the team of pay for it worth it?

Speaker 6 (21:06):
Yes, I think one interesting aspect all this. You think
they're only finding these fights when it occurs at a
joint practice. I think the Broncos fights didn't get that
out of hand. But if the Broncos were to have
a non joint practice, in a non joint practice setting,
a practice gets so out of control with the number
of fights and whatever, would the NFL step in and
give them a five hundred thousand dollars five.

Speaker 1 (21:26):
Yeah, that's that's the question. I don't know. I don't
know where the line is on that. I don't like
situations where you don't know where the line is. I
think that that bugs me.

Speaker 5 (21:34):
Four.

Speaker 6 (21:36):
Next up here, Ravens starting center Danny Pinter tore his
pateeller tend in this week, ending his season, and earlier
in the week, Chargers starting center Tyler byadash or by
Beaddish suffered at ACL injury that will force him to
miss an indefinite amount of time.

Speaker 1 (21:54):
How impactful will.

Speaker 6 (21:55):
These losses be for these two offenses that are both
instituting new coordinators and new schemes, And which of those
two losses do you think will be more impactful on
their respective team.

Speaker 5 (22:06):
I think it's going to one that's going to be
the most impactful. I would dare to say that the Charges,
because I mean, they were beat up last year and
they still found a way to push through. And they
thought with Tyler Buryatish and a lot of the guys
they had injured last year, that this was gonna kind
of be the year for them. So they've been a
little snake bitting. And when you lose your starting center,
it does kind of impact that quarterback center exchange. But

(22:30):
here's the thing about it, they have time to kind
of get things on track. This is still the preseason.
You still can work with the backup center, you can
work up the backup guard. Heck, the Broncos are going
through the same thing. I mean, the Citizen hadn't really
started at this point, so now you have some time
to kind of work those kings out.

Speaker 2 (22:49):
Yeah, I think I think the charge is probably a
little more impactful. But they drafted Jake Slaughter. He's gonna
have to grow up quick and play that role until
Biotics is ready to play again.

Speaker 1 (22:57):
On the flip side of that, Pitcher was scheduled.

Speaker 2 (22:59):
To be the backup center for the Ravens with Pocic,
even Pocich they brought in from.

Speaker 1 (23:04):
Cleveland, it was scheduled to be the start of there.

Speaker 2 (23:08):
So I I you know, I think in the end
it's probably more impactful in the Chargers, but both those teams. Yeah,
you don't want to see centers going down. That's that's
the quarterback of your O line, right and so you know,
you that's as we see here in Denver, centers start
going down, it could be a.

Speaker 6 (23:20):
Problem, and then the Ravens are already going a big
downgrade from Linderbaum to even poachit.

Speaker 1 (23:25):
Or right, you know, wherever they go.

Speaker 3 (23:27):
There five.

Speaker 6 (23:31):
Deshaun Watson responded to fans booing him during his camp
competition with Schador Sanders at public training camp practices by
telling the media he doesn't care about the fan response. First,
do you believe him that he doesn't mind getting booed
by the fans? And how many games do you think
Deshaun Watson ultimately starts for Cleveland this year?

Speaker 2 (23:51):
Well, I don't believe the he doesn't care. I mean,
everybody cares to some degree. It's just whether or not
you allowed to affect you that said. You know, he
got out there and gave you that quote and kind
of I don't know.

Speaker 1 (24:00):
Massage the truth a little bit. I think if you are.

Speaker 2 (24:06):
I don't eight games, nine games, I think you start
him until you can't and then if shoot or are
still there they haven't traded him, then you turn to
him and you know, let him see what he can
do the rest of the way, because, I mean, in
Cleveland's not go anywhere this year.

Speaker 5 (24:20):
If I'm DeShawn, I really don't give two Nichols about
what the fans have to say. We're talking about a
guy who had two injury plague seasons.

Speaker 4 (24:29):
He had to deal with that.

Speaker 5 (24:31):
He had a massive amount of criticism due to the
off the field issues and how that affected his career,
but also how the public viewed him and his personal relationship.
So I mean, with all that going on, I could
give two Nichols what fans think, because at the end
of the day, the only thing that matters is what
you know. Todd Munkin thinks as he tries to determine

(24:54):
who's going to be his starting quarterback, because if you
allow fan influence and media influence to infiltrate your your space, man,
there's enough pressure on you already, you're gonna crumble underneather weight.
And he show him that he's been able to deal
with some of the issues at j just mitches, so
tell them kick rocks.

Speaker 6 (25:12):
But I think that's a fair perspective, though I don't
know if he can avoid crumbling under the weight. You know,
he's he's had a really rough go ever since his
whole you know, legal situation, if you want to call
it that, and then he's had two achilles injuries. Like
the last time we saw him on the field, he
was the worst starting quarterback in the sport arguably, and

(25:32):
then he suffered too serious achilles injuries. Since then, we
saw what that did to Kirk Cousins, we saw what
that did to Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 5 (25:39):
But would you care, though, would you do? I care
with someone else on.

Speaker 1 (25:42):
The streets, so I'm with you, he might not care.

Speaker 6 (25:45):
I just think, you know, in regards to Willy started
a lot of games for Cleveland this year, I think
it's going to be like those those tanking Hugh Jackson
Browns teams where you saw like four or five different
dudes start a game at quarterback. I think Taylor Green
probably gets to start this year. Dylan Gabriel I would
and count out, like, yeah, exactly. They might ship some
guys out, but I think everyone who's on the roster,

(26:05):
and maybe even the practice squad will get a chance
to start here because they have seemingly no good answers.

Speaker 2 (26:11):
Yeah, DeShawn, I mean, he's played nineteen total games I
think since twenty twenty.

Speaker 1 (26:17):
At this point, he's.

Speaker 2 (26:18):
Just trying to get back on, you know, get back
off the field. Do what you can because you know
you've done basically nothing since twenty twenty.

Speaker 1 (26:24):
And that should be your collection twenty.

Speaker 5 (26:26):
Put all your your mental power into getting back on
the field, trying to stay healthy and trying to be productive.

Speaker 6 (26:32):
Yep, six, Vita Vea and the Tampa Bay Bucks agreed
to a one year, thirty million dollar extension to keep
the star lineman in Tampa. What do you think about
that deal and will we see the Bucks and Baker
come to a similar agreement.

Speaker 5 (26:50):
Well, you hope that they do, because the idea was
that at first his toad Bows and the Glazer family
were not going to do this. They were not intending
on pay Vda via the money, they were not intending
on on trading him. But cooler heads prevailed and they
realize having Vidavia in the foll I mean he was
a huge run stopper for their defense and a team

(27:12):
that's under a lot of pressure, especially Todd Bowles, you
want to make sure you get all of your players
and have them on the field to be productive for you.

Speaker 4 (27:20):
And yes, this should be a sign.

Speaker 5 (27:22):
For Baker Mayfield that hey, in the tight squeeze, you
can get it done. Even if that means is not
a multi year deal. Even if that means it's kind
of a one to two year extension for.

Speaker 1 (27:32):
Baker, I don't think they're gonna get a deal done
with Baker. I think they don't. I think Todd Bowles
was in his last season in Tampa. I knew they
were gonna do the Vita deal, and they got that done.

Speaker 2 (27:42):
But I think as far as Baker goes their eyeballing, Okay,
who in the candidate pool is gonna want to come
in here? And are these guys gonna want to work
with Baker? Do we want to saddle whoever the next
coach is with that? And so I think they're they're
fine like letting it go and threatening franchise tag right
now whether that works out for them or not, and
I suspect it won't. I think that they're getting ready

(28:04):
to clean house after this season.

Speaker 5 (28:06):
Listen, I don't I don't gamble at all, right, I
don't play sportsbook, I don't do any of that stuff.
But I would like to say that I don't know
if the Vegas odds are with the Tampa Buccaneers, but
you're in the NFC South, so there's potential for Baker
to actually be so ticked off or he puts up
numbers and you roll the dice using the philosophy that

(28:26):
Ben just said, Well, we don't know if Todd Boza
is going to be here. If Baker plays well, Todd
would be remain with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And oh,
by the way, you now find yourself in the conundrum
because he's outplayed his contract and.

Speaker 4 (28:40):
What are you gonna do? Let him go at that point?
I don't know about that.

Speaker 6 (28:43):
And you'll have all the letter leverage in the road.
It seems like this could be the new Kirk Cousins situation.
The road it's headed down right now where I don't
know if the Bucks are gonna want to give him
that sixty million dollar a year extension after this year,
and they also probably aren't going to want to let
him walk out the door, so they're probably going to
give him an insane franchise tag. Run it back, and

(29:04):
I could see again the Kirk Cousins thing where he
gets franchise tag multiple seasons and then maybe eventually.

Speaker 1 (29:09):
Forces his way. I think that's that's I think they're
comfortable with that.

Speaker 2 (29:12):
It's not the way I would do things, but I
think that's where they're at. It's like they're about to
get the reset button, probably bring it off, insive minded coach,
and they don't necessarily want to.

Speaker 1 (29:19):
Scare off potential candidates.

Speaker 2 (29:22):
If you know you got Baker in a four year
deal in fifty five to sixty per Well, here's.

Speaker 5 (29:27):
Another thing that's important when you if you were looking
for a new head coach, you're right that head coach
wants to tie himself to a quarterback. But saying, okay,
I'm taking over a team that if you're projecting that
they're not going to do that, well, do you really
want to go to Tampa Bay Because you may have
your pick up quarterback it's a rookie. That doesn't necessarily

(29:47):
mean it's going to improve your position.

Speaker 1 (29:48):
That's the exact same question.

Speaker 6 (29:50):
I was thinking, like, yes, you might get Baker, but
or maybe you don't love Baker.

Speaker 1 (29:55):
He's not your cup of tea.

Speaker 6 (29:56):
But isn't there something to be said for taking a
job where I at least know I have a functional
starting quarterback that isn't going to get that's empired as
opposed to a total voidance.

Speaker 2 (30:05):
Maybe depending on if you've got enough cachet to come
in and car that first year rebuild year. You know,
I mean Sean Payton came here with a quarterback he
had he didn't no longer before he did not want
that either. If he worked it out with the ownership
that he could move on after a year.

Speaker 1 (30:19):
I mean, we.

Speaker 6 (30:19):
See, that's different because I don't necessarily scared off by it.

Speaker 4 (30:22):
That's right. He worked that up with the organization.

Speaker 5 (30:24):
He already had that that concession in his contract.

Speaker 4 (30:28):
You don't have to be tied to Russell.

Speaker 5 (30:30):
So now, in that case, you can make those types
of decisions. But if you're a new coach coming in
knowing how quickly I mean coordinators and head coaches come in,
it's the same thing when they're going out.

Speaker 4 (30:41):
Do you want to put yourself in that situation?

Speaker 1 (30:43):
Yeah, think about it. I think yeah. So I sort
of understand what Tampa's doing. I don't like it. It's not
the way I would do it, but I understand what
they're doing. And we'll see. I don't believe they get
a deal double packer.

Speaker 2 (30:53):
Mayfield, so I'll do it for the NFL six pack
I and I would get a deal.

Speaker 1 (30:58):
I mean, Banker's only what thirty one years old? I
think thirty or thirty one. I have to go back
and look.

Speaker 2 (31:04):
But he's got I mean he's he's I think he's
a little under five hundred as a starter.

Speaker 1 (31:09):
But some of that has to do with the fact
that it was Browns and Panthers and all that kind
of stuff.

Speaker 6 (31:14):
What's that tanking browns of like the christ scenario that
were one and thirty one or whatever.

Speaker 1 (31:18):
Yeah, well he was, you know, he was. Yeah, and
he also he had a bad run with Carolina there.
I think as well.

Speaker 2 (31:23):
It kind of hurt that he wasn't even like one
in five as a starter there before you get moved
on from or whatever the Matt rule era where they
just couldn't get the quarterback situation right.

Speaker 5 (31:32):
He keep this in mind, guy on the rust, how
many teams and organizations have had people in house who
you saw, who produce, but they opted to do something
a little different, thinking like oh man, I got a
better plan, and that plan never works out and has
so many examples of that. So this is why it's
Tempa Bay Buccaneers. Better be careful, be careful.

Speaker 2 (31:54):
Yeah, we got to it a break broke as cuptry night.

Speaker 4 (31:59):
I'm back to this
