About those drudge raid, said Lismen Albright. Here with you
five six six nine zero is the text line.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
You want to get involved in the conversations, actually respect
their producer.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Today, back behind the.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
Glass, Thursday Nights football in Cleveland. You've got the Pittsburgh
Steelers taking on the Cleveland Browns.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Lit snow action going on there.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
I may have some action on this game, a little bit,
maybe sprinkled a little I uh, I'm actually trying to
do what's called middle this game tonight, which is you
know where I parlayed the under and the over and
I bet the you know, the the middle range there.
So we'll see, we'll see what happens. I'm a little
worried that they're not going to clear the under number.

(01:14):
And there's no way they're going over fifty points that
I but I was worried that they might they might
not clear the thirty and a half under that I
have parlayed with it.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
So we'll see. We'll see how it goes.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
Cleveland Browns, this is their last game before they take
on the Denver Broncos on Monday night coming up here
in about a week and a half a week from
this coming Monday, So it's a good chance for Broncos
fans to take a look at the Browns and see what.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
It is they're they're kind of getting there. Jerry Judy
return game.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
I don't know if that strikes according with Zach.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Is the return of Jerry Judy moved the Neil for
you at all? I mean, who's who? What revenge is
there to be had? You know what I mean?

Speaker 4 (01:52):
I think Judy made out like a bandit. He seems
very handsomely paid now, especially relative to what he's produced
in the league.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
Yeah, his best game is a pro last week.

Speaker 4 (02:02):
Yeah, but I mean that was like when he had
his best game against the Raiders, and it was bullied
by that ninety eight yard touchdown. It was lifted by
that one, one big long touchdown. I don't know, I've
bet at Judy Denier. Now, I was big on the
Judy train, and then the moment I got off, I
got off hard. I'm I'm still baffled by that contract
Cleveland gave him.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Yeah, I think there are a lot of people that are.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
You know, Jerry Judy is a talented athlete, but just
too many drops, too many concentration issues, the pouting if
he doesn't get the ball early, the refusal to block.
There were a lot of issues with him here in Denver,
and I wasn't sad necessarily to see him go.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
You know, in that draft.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
It's kind of funny because the Broncos that draft had
expected the Raiders to take Jerry Judy.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
They had the Raiders went ahead and took Henry.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
Ruggs, and if they had the Broncos were going to
take Jefferson. So if you really want to get gut
punched on that, when the Denver Broncos had had Jefferson
as the next receiver on the board for him, and
what could have been, you know, just think Drew Locke
might have you know, might have gone for fifty touchdowns
with Jefferson there. I know he's your favorite there, zech Yeah.

(03:11):
I've just been dying to.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
See Drew lock with a good receiver like a dk
Metcalf for a Tyler Lockett. I think that's once he
gets one of those guys, then it'll click for him.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
That's that's all he needs is a great o line,
great receivers across.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
The board, a great tight end, a great running game,
a coach that's willing.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
Yeah, yeah, all those things, and then maybe he will
get all to be fair, to be fair. When Drew
won that game up in Seattle and Gino did the
backpack celebration, tell me that was not the feel good
moment of the NFL last year.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
It was super feel good.

Speaker 4 (03:40):
And I wish we could have Matt Patricia as a
DC to provide more of those charitable efforts. I'm one
hundred percent with you on that, and your sarcasm has noted,
but I'm also with you in the real aspects of that.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
So Steelers take it on the Browns tonight.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
Russell Wilson versus Jerry Judy, is or any any anything
in this game for you at all?

Speaker 2 (04:00):
Are you just watching for future Broncos upon it? Cleveland Browns.
I'm curious what's gonna happen with the rust thing.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
I think as a Broncos fan, you know, being going
through what they went through the last two years, you
got to be at least a little more budily curious
about that.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
You know, I think you've brought up the point.

Speaker 4 (04:16):
Last year, and I disagreed with it that Peyton could
be doing more.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
To support Russ.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
I thought he was doing a lot, and you know,
seeing him in this Steelers scheme, I think, yeah, they
could have been doing more. What the Steelers are doing
is goofy. It's an offense I've never really seen. And
the Broncos were like top of the league last year,
and throws behind the line of scrimmage, throws twenty plus
yards downfield.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
This has dialed it up to twelve. It's it's insane.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
Yeah, Arthur Smith, and I you know, I thought Arthur
Smith kind of got a little bit of raw deal
there in Atlanta. You know, the decision to roll with
Desmond Ritter did them in because he's terrible. And you know,
I think Arthur Smith is is a phenomenal offensive corner.
You go back and you look at what he did
in Tennessee resurrecting the career of Ryan Tannehill, and then
you look and you see what he did for some

(04:58):
of these other quarterbacks. Now he's doing kind of for
Russell Wilson a little bit.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
He's just a guy who finds what you can do.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
It's like, okay, we're gonna spam that, and I you know,
I think more offensive coordinators could take a page out
of that book. I don't know how many people, uh,
I don't know how many people know the background on
Arthur Smith. He didn't need to be coaching football. His
dad's like the founder of FedEx or the CEO of
FedEx or whatever. I mean, they come for money. He
could be doing anything he wants. But he was taking
coaching internships and doing all that kind of stuff and

(05:23):
worked his way up.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
And you know, I mean, good good on him for
being able to do that.

Speaker 5 (05:29):
I was just what's that?

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Sorry? How bad his desbon ridder there? I mean, he
made Mariota look good.

Speaker 4 (05:34):
He's making russ have this resurgencies and it really yikes.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
Yeah, I mean, look a Ritter.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
Was was never good I mean that was that was
the thing even coming out as part of the reason
he you know, or people talking about being the guy
when he.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
Came out, and he was just a guy that nicol.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
And dined the flats for a high completion percentage back
in college. And you know, he wasn't a guy who
could push the ball down a field effectively.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
When you look at the tape, you can see it.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
So, uh, there's a difference between a guy who just
does you know, just does that, just just hits the
flats and can go deep, and a guy who just
hits the flats because he can't go deep. And you know,
Ritor fell in the ladder camp. There were a lot
of people that try to say bo was in that
ladder camp. But I think that's a lot of where
everybody is on on Bonix now, is these these wonky

(06:17):
pre draft evaluations that they had or whatever on the guy.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
I mean, I can remember, and I've got tweet you
can find the tweets.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
I've got tweets out there from November last year, this
time last year where I'm sitting there saying, hey, you know,
Bonix is a prototype Sean Payton quarterback.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
Get ready, you know, and and through.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
That process, going through that process with that, you know,
and there's we we kid each other on this station
a lot. We get a lot of we do a
lot of roast jokes and stuff like that. But I mean,
when when Bow was was in camp, there were there
were some issues, there were some things that that he
needed to clean up, and you could see that. And
then you know, he gets on into the season and

(06:53):
I was one of those people that, you know, I
didn't think that. I didn't think it would come to
Bow as fast as it has, and I didn't know
if him just playing through it from week one was
the way to go. And you know, it's one of
those ones where Sean Payton gets to clown me a
little bit and be like, all, Bret's got a microphone again,
somebody get it away from him, because you know, I
was like, well, it starts to him. At least we

(07:14):
know he's capable of and Bo can work his way
as similar to the way that the Patriots did with
Drake May and Jacob Brissett and see what we can do.
I do believe the Broncos would have won a couple
of those games that they lost if stid Him had started,
But the reality is allowing Bo to do that and
work through it and work through it and get to
where he is probably was more beneficial and probably is
more beneficial long term. And now we see where Bo

(07:35):
is now, you know, definitely a serviceable starter in this league.
And we don't know where the ceiling is yet, we
have yet to figure that out, but definitely he's a.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Definitely can be a starter in this league.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
And so you know, I think I think allowing him
to work through that stuff early and take his lumps
and let the game slow down for him naturally, I
think that's allowed him to get where he is now.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
Yeah, And I think it comes down to, you know,
the coaching element and a value waiting the quarterback you have.
You know, is this a guy where you know, if
I sit him on the bench for three weeks, it's
going to completely rattle his confidence or have him start
doubting himself, you know, Or is this the type of
guy that I can throw him to the Wolves, I
can throw him to a road game against the Mike
McDonald defense and you know, at Mike Tomlin defense in

(08:18):
week two, because he has the confidence and self assurance
that if you know, he gets some bumps and bruises
in those first two games. It's not gonna start some
sort of downward spiral.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
And he learned from him and elevates his game each week,
and you know, so so in the end, I guess,
you know, it worked out.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
I mean, you know, you might have had a.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
Win or two more if you'd gone the other direction.
But where would Bob his development cycle? Would he be
at the same point that he's at now? Would you
have the same confidence in this offense that you have now?

Speaker 2 (08:43):
And I don't. I don't know that you would.

Speaker 3 (08:45):
And so in the end, I think the you know,
the correct decision was made, even if it wasn't a
decision that I particularly liked, you know at the time.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
But that's you know, that's how it goes.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
The Patriots decision to wait on Derek May appears to
have worked out for the Drake made appears to have
worked out for them too.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
Drake May's playing pretty good football, you know.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
And so I don't I don't know that either one
was necessarily wrong, But the decision worked out, you know,
for Sean Payton and Bonis And now you know, we've
got there's a few there's a few hangers on in
the national media still try to, you know, do the
I don't believe you know stuff or whatever. But the
reality is, I think everybody after the last three or
four weeks is just come around on Bonnix like, Okay,

(09:26):
this kid is at least a serviceable starter in this
league at minimum, and we don't know, you know, where
the ceiling is yet because it doesn't look like we
come close to it.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
Yeah. I think that's the exciting.

Speaker 4 (09:35):
Thing, the maybe the biggest surprise and the thing we
were talking about the first month when the mental stuff,
the accuracy was going south, it was Wow, at least
his tools are a lot better than we expected because
they're kind of allowing him to survive.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
Uh. I think that's.

Speaker 4 (09:48):
Something that you know, he can continue to tap into.
There is a lot of untapped potential there athletically that
I don't think we necessarily thought he had coming in, which, yeah,
just makes him a lot more freaking of an investment.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
And you know, there were other things that people complained
about the age.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
All that kind of stuff.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
Is funny how many people have sat there and lamb
based bow Nicks for being twenty five years old coming.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
Into the league that haven't said anything about Michael Panis
junior who's older you know, Bates yeah last week, right,
But I mean, you know what I mean, like it's.

Speaker 3 (10:24):
It's it's one of those things where it's you get
and I sort of get it because you know, you
get somebody who comes in a little bit older and
you're like, Okay, they're tapped out like this, they're just
a man playing with boys, And I get it. If
that's a defensive tackle, right, I get it. If that's
a wide receiver, I get if it's a defensive tackle,
running back, I get it because the body the quarterback
position is less dependent on that, you know, and and

(10:48):
there are worries that guys are topped out, you know,
when you get them at older ages that what you
see is what you get. There's no room for growth
versus somebody who's say twenty one, and you could still
you know, grow them into being what they can be.
So I get both sides that coin. I just you know,
with the quarterback position, I'm a little less on it.
I don't want them to go out and start drafting
the Chris Winks and Brandon Whedon's of the world, you know,
are near thirty years old.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
But you know, I mean bo I think the maturity.

Speaker 3 (11:14):
I think being a few years older, the maturity served
him well and being able to deal with Sean Payton
because EDYK Buddy who ever played quarterback for Sean Payton,
will tell you got to deal with some stuff, you know,
when you're dealing.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
With Sean Payton. I think that maturity helped him out.

Speaker 3 (11:26):
I think that that helped him, you know, have not
be as overwhelmed, you know, starting this because the Sean
Payton offenses can be like drinking throw fire holes.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
There's a lot to it.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
They're big, wordy play calls, and they're constantly shuffling personnel
groups and you know those kinds of things. So I
don't think that the age hurt Bow at all. That
may have wound up helping him. I think it probably did.
And you bring up such a good point. I think
a lot of people in.

Speaker 4 (11:50):
Media have glombed on or clung a little too tightly
to the analytic discovery that you know, these younger players
have higher hit rates. If you look at the Brown's
recent draft or the Vikings recent drafts. To really analytically
minded front offices, lots of young players. They just won't
even look at guys that are like twenty three and older.

(12:10):
But to your point, that doesn't really apply at quarterback
as much. We you know from afar watching these national
talking nets talk about Patrick Mahomes or a Josh Allen
or Lamar Jackson these last two years. These are quarterbacks
that are finding second and third layers to their game,
you know, at twenty seven, at twenty eight. You know,
so if it can happen to those guys who have
played five six years in the NFL, why can't it

(12:31):
happen for a twenty four year old with zero years
played in the NFL. I, like you said, it makes sense.
A wide receiver makes sense at corner or your defensive tackle,
and you're twenty five years old and you're dominating nineteen
year old offensive lineman.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
That I get. Like that is a man playing with boys,
I get that. But the quarterback position isn't his body dependent.

Speaker 2 (12:49):
It just isn't. It's more mental right.

Speaker 3 (12:51):
Then there are you know, I mean, you do need
athleticism for certain things and whatnot, but it's not as
dependent on it as you know, an offensive lineman or
a defense We've talked about bob possibly vaulting himself into
the offensive rookie, the rookie of the Year conversation, those
kinds of things, and nobody is.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
Talking about the Broncos opponent really the Raiders.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
But rookie tight end Brock Bauers has really flown under
the radar for a lot of the league. If you're
a fantasy owner, you're you're not surprised by it, But
if you're anybody else, you're probably surprised by the numbers
he's been putting up. Bowers doesn't really hype himself. He's
kind of a stoic demeanor guy. In fact, Devontae Adams
before he left for the Jets, he called Bowers the Businessman.

(13:34):
That was his nickname for him, because he's awfully stoic.
But his numbers are really speaking for him. Brock Bowers
is seventy catches, that's second in the NFL right now,
and seven hundred and six yards that's tenth.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
He only has three touchdowns.

Speaker 3 (13:47):
But that's believed or not fifth amongst all tight ends
in the league, and it puts Bowers on pace to
break the single season rookie record for catches regardless of position,
let alone tight end. He could set the rookie mark
for yards by a tight end as well. UH. Samuel
Porta has the rookie record for catches for a tight
end with eighty six last season. A Rams wide receiver

(14:09):
Pokkuz the overall rooie record for receptions with one hundred
and five last year. The Bears tight end record for
receiving yards has stood for a long time, Mike Ditka
with one thousand, seventy six back in nineteen sixty one.
And it's that fascinates me to no end that that
they that Mike Dick's record rookie records has stood that
long and the Golden Age of passing, it's still uh,

(14:31):
it's still insane to me that that has uh, that
that has stood. Nikoua has the record for the most
receiving yards by a rookie regardless of position at one
eighty six. I don't think that he's going to catch that.
He's well off the pace for that. He would need
four or five just huge games down the stretch to
really to really push that. But he could be in

(14:52):
line for potentially uh the rookie receiving yards at at
tight end and breaking Mike Dick's record which has stood
for bleeping ever.

Speaker 4 (15:00):
Yeah, I think he will. I mean it's funny. This
looks like such a Sean Payton guy. And I don't
think Sean Payne's having any regrets because he got his quarterback.
But you know, when the Broncos were on the clock,
me a guy who didn't believe much in bo Nick's
pre draft, I was praying for brock Bowers because I
would we see this role that lil Jore and Humphreys
getting thrown into that they wanted Greg Dolsic to be
And I think brock Bowers would have been amazing there,

(15:21):
and you've seen him pan out I think as well
as anyone could.

Speaker 2 (15:25):
Have expected in Vegas.

Speaker 4 (15:26):
This is I think it's more impressive than what Sam
Laporta did a few years ago, because Laporta had, you know,
Ben Johnson and all these other elements of the offense
drawing attention, where like this is the.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
Brock Rother than Aidan O'Connell and Gardner Minshew. Great point.

Speaker 4 (15:39):
Yeah, I mean, this is the brock Bowers show sponsored
by Luke Getsy.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
It's it's brutal, Yeah, it's well gets He's out now.

Speaker 3 (15:47):
Scott Turner is now the offensive coordinator their North. Turner's
son Mike did go, by the way, the only tight
end ever to win Offensive Rookie of the Year. In
betting odds, if you go to Vegas the websites right now,
Bowers is currently about fourth. You can get that a
plus three thousand if you want to get a ticket
on the plus three thousand sit by. In the three quarterbacks,
Jade Daniels at minus four hundred, Bonicks at plus three

(16:08):
hundred and second place in New England quarterback Drake May
way back there at plus twenty five hundred, and to me,
he is a three horse race. It's Jade Daniels, Boonicks
and Brock Powers. And if Brock Powers continues to play
the way that he has, he is a legitimate case
amongst those quarterbacks.

Speaker 2 (16:22):
To be able to be in that conversation.

Speaker 4 (16:25):
Yeah, I think it's going to be, you know, one
of those three quarterbacks whichever closes the strongest, to your point,
or it's going to be Brock Powers if he can
somehow break that inn Akua record or something to your point,
he's gonna need some crazy games down the stretch. But
when you know media members that vote on this award
have some recency bias. If he has an unreal December
or January that gets him those records, I think there's

(16:45):
a good chance he at least steals some votes from
Nixon Daniels.

Speaker 3 (16:48):
Bowers, for his parts, is the game's slowing down for him,
and that's the way it appeared past Sunday, where he
had fourteen catches for one hundred and twenty six yards.
That's the most ever in a game for rookie tight end,
by the way, in terms of catches. And he gets
to go up against the Vans Joseph defense, which, although
the Broncos defense has been quite good this year, Advanced
Joseph defenses are notorious for giving up a little to

(17:09):
the tight end. As matter of fact, they did to
Brock Bowers in their first meeting this year. I think
everybody remembers right off the bat that that brock Bauers
went out and had.

Speaker 2 (17:17):
That had that big catch.

Speaker 3 (17:22):
That helped propel the Raiders out quickly to a pretty
pretty nice ten nothing lead before patzer Tan got that
uh that pick six and then ran it back the
other way. You know, Bowers is somebody that I think
people wanted here. You know, people talked about that. You
talked about Sean Payton, and he's probably Sean Payton guy, all.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
That kind of stuff.

Speaker 3 (17:40):
And and I tend to a great Bowers by the way,
eight catches ninety seven yards on twelve targets at a touchdown,
and that in the first meeting against the Broncos Eam
Denver this year, so certainly had had production.

Speaker 2 (17:51):
And that was a game where.

Speaker 3 (17:52):
DeVante ams did not play in that game either, so
it's not like he was, you know, he was benefiting
from that. He he split time with both quarterbacks Gardner
Minshew and Ain't O'Connor both played in that game.

Speaker 2 (18:04):
So that's something to keep your eye on.

Speaker 3 (18:06):
I think this weekend it's just sort of the Brock
Bowers bo Nick shows.

Speaker 2 (18:10):
You've got two guys.

Speaker 3 (18:11):
Who are probably in second or third place competing for
the NFL Rookie of the Year. Although we don't expect
the Raiders to necessarily keep this one close or you know,
the Raiders to win this one, I do believe that that,
you know, anything can happen. And I think having having
your eye on these two players who are part of

(18:32):
the future of the NFL, maybe the now of the NFL.
The way they've been playing, there's certainly going to be
a treat this week, and it's somebody kind of keep
your eye. We can appreciate the greatness that is that
is brock Bowers, even if he is a Raider, we
can appreciate what bo Nicks is becoming because he's our
Denver Bronco and kind of go from there.

Speaker 4 (18:50):
Yeah, hopefully this is something we're talking about for a
long time. I think these players are going to be
forever linked. The Raiders were connected to these quarterbacks. You know,
would they have taken Bonnicks if he felt at thirteen.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
Belive they would have?

Speaker 3 (19:00):
They they had their sites completely set on jayde Daniels,
which is somebody that that Antonio Pierce knew very well
dating back to college at Arizona State. So I think
that's the direction they were really looking at. They wanted
a package to get up there and couldn't get it done.
But I don't believe they would have taken Bonix now.

Speaker 4 (19:15):
But nonetheless, division rivals drafted one pick after the other.
The Raiders were at least a quarterback needy team even
if they didn't have their eyes on Bonex.

Speaker 2 (19:22):
It's yeah, We'll see these guys go up against each
other for a while. We'll see what they're able to do.
I come back.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
We're getting a few other things around the league's Thursday
night football going on. As Chris Boswell just missed a
field goal against the against the Browns, Browns will take
over get their first offensive series going. You listen to
Broncos Country Night right here on Kaaway.

Speaker 5 (19:46):
Yeah you got me?

Speaker 2 (19:47):
Oh there we go. How you doing this evening? I'm here, man,
I can hear you, sir? Can you hear me?

Speaker 5 (19:55):
Yeah? What's the funk? What's going on?

Speaker 2 (19:57):
Technical difficulties?

Speaker 3 (19:58):
Man? You get Diana Hote as we get deep into
these Thursday nights, we get these technical difficulties. They want
us asking what the funk about everything whenever you come on.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
So I think that's that's the starting point right there.
But what the funk is up with these.

Speaker 3 (20:11):
These national punnets who haven't got on board the bow
Knicks train.

Speaker 2 (20:14):
There's still room on the bandwagon? Kids? What are we
doing waiting to get on?

Speaker 5 (20:18):
Yeah? You know, watch I was asking the same question, Ben,
And you go back and look at bo Nix's scouting profile.
Let me read a few things directly from the scouting profile.
Doesn't have the arm strength to make deep throws. He
needs to refine his processing. His on field IQ needs polishing.

(20:43):
He struggles with progression. His limited feeling will make it
tough to justify spending overly valuable draft capital on him.
Just to name a few, the guy played sixty one
games in college football and most of these outs got
it wrong on bow Nicks except for Sean Payton. Sean

(21:05):
Payton was the one guy that saw this, how good
this kid could be, and it seems like nobody else did.

Speaker 3 (21:13):
Yeah, it's fascinating because I mean, it's not like the
league doesn't have missus before. But Sean was when they
got him that night, he was and George Payton were
visibly almost smug in a way. You know, Sean Payton
came to that press conference and he was kind of
half joking about tricking everybody into you know, the Vikings
ended up moving up and drafting JJ McCarthy, and how

(21:34):
he was spreading seeds of all kinds of nonsense over
the course of that the draft process. That bow was
a guy and and he you know, he was he
was down right smug about it, and you know, the
media cover jowing that was pretty in favorable to Sean
and less so probably to Bow. But he seems kind
of vindicated early on here.

Speaker 5 (21:56):
Yeah. I feel the same way, And you're right, he
was smug about it because he knew he knew and
as you heard him say even before the draft about
the process of finding the right guy, he said, good thing,
we know how to do it, and not too many
other teams do. I'm paraphrasing he said. That's not a quote,
but yeah, he's been smugged since the beginning, and he

(22:19):
knew he got his guy. In training camp, you could
tell he knew that was going to be the guy
that that was going to be the franchise quarterback. And
the first couple of weeks it look so good, and
Sean Payton was throwing a lot at him. Sean Payton's
one of those head coaches that throws a lot at
a young quarterback, and we saw that with bone Nix.

(22:41):
You know, he was drinking water out of a fire
hose there for the first three four games and then
it started to come together for him. And now it's
really coming together for him, and man, it's fun to watch.
I think this kid's going to continue to get better
and better. And I'm starting to get a feeling. I
get these feelings. Man, I'm feeling like this team is

(23:04):
about to go on a run down the stretch. I'm
not saying they're going to go six and oh, but
I think they're going to go on a run down
the stretch. And they are going to be a playoff
team this year. And if they if they get in,
and when they get in, they are going to be
a tough out for whoever they play. I'm feeling that
good about it. I like it.

Speaker 3 (23:22):
I mean, you look at the way the schedule sets
up here over the next month or so, it is
pretty favorable. I mean, you go to the Raiders, You've
got the Cleveland Browns, who are playing right now on
Thursday Night football.

Speaker 2 (23:33):
You got the Colts.

Speaker 3 (23:34):
I mean, these these games are some winnable games for
the Denver Broncos. The back the back end of the
schedule is a little tough, but you might catch some breaks.
You've got a Chargers team that's playing lights out right now. Uh,
You've got a Bengals team that may or may not
have packed it in by that point, and then the
last game of the season against Kansas City, it normally
has a tough game, but Andy Reid loves the rest
of those starters. In the week before the playoffs. Who knows,
you might you might get the b team from Kansas

(23:56):
City and uh, you know, so this thing, this this
schedule breaks really favorably for the Broncos.

Speaker 5 (24:02):
Yeah, I was going to say the same thing about
the Kansas City game. That's probably going to be a
game where the Chiefs have everything wrapped up and we'll
be playing their JV in that game. And in regarding
the Chargers, oh Nicks hadn't figured it out yet when
the Broncos played the Chargers earlier this season, and I
think the Broncos will give them a much better game

(24:25):
when they play them in LA. And Bengals, who knows,
Bengals is such an up and down team. By the
time we get to the Bengals at the end of
the season, they may be checked out as well. So
you're right, it's looking very, very favorable for this team.
They play a really beat up Raiders team this week
that might have six starters out on defense. You know,

(24:47):
so Broncos are catching a lot of breaks, you know,
with this type of situation, with the teams. They've been
playing teams that have had a ton of injuries, and
the Broncos are a relatively healthy football team, and hopefully
they continue to be down the stretch, because things are
looking up for this football team, for this franchise. Even
if the Broncos don't quite make it into the playoffs

(25:10):
this year, say they win nine games and don't get in,
but I think they're going to win more than that.
You've got a lot to look forward to in twenty
twenty five because this team is going to spend some
money in the offseason. They're going to load up that
offensive side of the ball, which is going to make
bo Nicks look even better next year.

Speaker 3 (25:28):
Yeah, I was talking with color analysts that never Broncos,
Rick Lewis, Rick, you know there is some talent over
there for the Raiders. I know the defense is she's bad,
they're missing, you know, going to be a bunch of
starters on top of them.

Speaker 2 (25:38):
But the offense, they got a kid over there at
tight end.

Speaker 3 (25:40):
Brock Bowers, who is on pace to set some records,
some records that have stood a long time at the
tight end position, says nineteen sixty one with Mike Ditka.
Bowers has been a heck of an asset, and we
saw what he could do in that first matchup, as
he had over seventy yards on nine catches in a
big time touchdown for the Raiders early.

Speaker 2 (25:57):
Are we at.

Speaker 3 (25:57):
All concerned that brock Bauers could get loose a little
bit in this one?

Speaker 2 (26:01):
Maybe make it a game, you know what.

Speaker 5 (26:04):
I think he's generational talents and interesting that he's going
after a Mike Ditka record that was so long ago.
People only remember Mike Ditka as that crabby head coach
that he was for the New Orleans Saints, you know,
the game that passed him by at that point. But no,

(26:25):
I think brock Bauers is really good and he looks
like really their only weapon potentially this Sunday against the Broncos.
So that's going to give Advanced Joseph some options on
how you slow him down or even shut him down.
I mean, do you put PS two on him? Probably not,
But I think he's going to get his catches. You

(26:46):
just got to make sure the catches all stay underneath,
and you know, let him do his thing. And I
don't think they have too many other guys that can
hurt you on offense. Their running game is non existent.
They're probably to be playing their third string running back
a mirror Abdullah is what it's looking like. So no,
I'm not too worried about them really on either side

(27:08):
of the ball. You just have to take care of business.
You've got to go in there and be serious about
beating this Las Vegas Raiders team. You've never won in Vegas.
You've got to break that streak this week. The destiny
is in your hands, and the destiny starts Sunday in
Las Vegas.

Speaker 2 (27:24):
Well, I love it, Drick, and yeah they do. They
just got to put one foot in front of the.

Speaker 3 (27:28):
Other, keep winning football games, and they're going to wake
up and find themselves in the playoffs and maybe further.

Speaker 2 (27:32):
We'll see see how that shakes out. Real quick, last
last question from me.

Speaker 3 (27:37):
As we look at this running back rotation, which has
just stimied every observer in terms of which way they're
going to go this week, how are we feeling about
the running back room against the Raiders.

Speaker 5 (27:47):
Yeah. I've given up on Javonte Williams twice this season,
and I feel kind of bad about it. Every time
I do. He bounces back. You know, it seems like
Sean Payton likes to go with a hot hand. There's
nobody that really stands out in this group. I think
there are three capable running backs there and they all present,
you know, a little bit of a different challenge, I

(28:08):
would say to opposing defenses. I think it's going to
be Javonte this week. And we'll see. We'll see plenty
of Estimate and Juliel, but I think Javonte will be
the primary ball carrier this week like we saw last week.

Speaker 3 (28:21):
Well, lek Rick, looking forward to the call yourself, Dave Logan,
Suzie Wargen right here on KOA.

(28:57):
long ways man. You do a great job.

not so low they can't hear it. It's just solow.

(29:44):
the Browns in Cleveland zero zero after the first quarter
in some weather Steeers have moved the ball fairly well,
but haven't been able to get points in Chris Boswo
and missfield Goald the swirling winds there in Cleveland. Cleveland
does not look good on offense that far thus far,
but we'll see Russ said big gain just to a
forty six yarder to Calvin Austin. It probably would have
been a touchdown, but it was a little under thrown

(30:05):
by Russ. He put a little more on it and
probably would would have been six for the Steelers.

Speaker 2 (30:09):
But it is what it is.

Speaker 3 (30:12):
The Browns, of course, are the Broncos next opponent following
the Raiders game. Broncos take on the Raiders on Sunday
and then they will be on Monday Night Football with
the Cleveland Browns. The Browns get a de facto sort
of by week. Here is at least a week and
a half to prepare for the Broncos as they're playing
now on Thursday Night Football, and then they won't play
again until Monday Night against the Broncos. So fascinating break there,

(30:36):
I guess for the Browns, although you know their season
is pretty much cooked at this point.

Speaker 2 (30:41):
Yeah, I don't know where they go from here.

Speaker 4 (30:43):
I mean, Jamis is playing better, He's given the offense
some life, but what made that team special last year
wasn't I mean, Joe Flacca was playing nice, but it
wasn't the offense that made him specially, it was the
elite defense. This year, I think they're in the twenties
in most every category. They've progressed as hard as any
unit in the league. And it's the reason they're too
eight two and nine whatever it is right now. Right
And you know Cleveland, Uh, you know, people have been

(31:05):
calling for Kevin Stefanski's head all that kind of stuff.

Speaker 3 (31:07):
Everybody I talk to says he's safe. Uh, he's gonna
be back another year. That they're they're chalking up the
this year and everything else to the Deshaun Watson debacle,
which they're going to rid themselves of in one way
or another after this season. I don't know that they're
going to cut Watson though. I think they're basically just
gonna make him inactive and make him the most expensive
quarter backup quarterback in NFL history ever because they can't

(31:30):
cut him right now, Like the money is just so
is so stacked that they actually can't cut him. Uh So,
I from what I understand, I think they're just gonna
have him like sort of be away from the team
and make him the make him the third string quarterback
and go from there.

Speaker 2 (31:45):
Can you refuse to stay away? I mean, what could
he do in that spot? I guess, I mean you
can final a grievance in that kind of stuff. I mean,
they'll they'll bring him in, but they'll use him as
on this.

Speaker 3 (31:54):
They'll start put him on the scout team, you know,
like what they're doing with Daniel Jones up there in
New York r Now.

Speaker 2 (31:58):
They'll make him a safety for a scout team and
all that kind of stuff, and.

Speaker 3 (32:02):
You know, just I mean to the point where you
just don't want to be there, just go catch the
money instead of being you know.

Speaker 2 (32:07):
And so that's that's the thing.

Speaker 3 (32:09):
They may find a way to, uh to work that
contract a little bit, or find a way to to
redo that contract to move on from him, But as
it sits right now, I mean they're they're just trying
to find financial ways to get out from under that
and move on because that team clearly has it's been
an issue and he has clearly held him back.

Speaker 4 (32:29):
Yeah, pulling off the space and jamming into the broom closet.

Speaker 2 (32:32):
Or they may keep their big I think you. I
don't know if you know, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (32:37):
I think anywhere that guy goes you gonn't have open doors.

Speaker 2 (32:39):
I'm just saying a good call, good call.

Speaker 3 (32:43):
As the Steelers look like they're lining up to try
another field goal, see if this one actually works for
them or or or not. It has been a rough
go try to kick in those in those Cleveland wins,
and looks like they find the guy one.

Speaker 2 (32:55):
They look at that, but there's a flag on the place,
so who knows. When we come back, we're gonna deep.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
I have a little bit into what to expect from
the Raiders.

Speaker 2 (33:04):
