Speaker 1 (00:00):
I'm going to go right off the Keilly Comsperth hotline though,

(00:02):
and bring on our good friend Vincent bon Signori at
Vinnie bon Signori on the Twitter Machine. Vegas Nation Reporters,
Review Journal, in the NFL Insider for LA's am five
to seventy Vine. How you doing this evening?

Speaker 2 (00:13):
I'm doing great. How are you guys doing well?

Speaker 1 (00:15):
You know, it's always better with your voice, man. I
mean an interesting matchup here, as you've got kind of
the tail of two teams doing sort of the opposite thing.
I think at this point, the Broncos looking like they're
lining up a playoff run. The Raiders look like they're
headed for maybe some early draft picks and a reset
at the quarterback position. Am I Am I reading that wrong?

Speaker 2 (00:33):
No, not at all. I mean, obviously, inside that locker room,
they don't want to hear about, you know, a future
quarterback or a high draft pick or anything like that.
But I think organically the way things are working out
because they are so challenged at quarterback right now and offensively,
and they've been really decimated with injuries. You know, both

(00:53):
of their starting running backs are probably going to be
out most probably all three of their starting quarterbacks are
going to be out already, losing Christian Wilkins and Malcolm
Goods along the offensive line. This has just been kind
of a nightmare season for the Raiders, But in all
the scheme of things, I think even their fans are
starting to come around to the fact that that might
not be the worst thing if it can land them

(01:15):
one of the one of the top picks and maybe
bring it bringing in Shador Standers here to be the quarterback.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
You know, if any that Vin and I were kind
of talking about that topic of conversation. When it comes
to a point in the season where the team knows
as though they have no pad to the playoffs, do
you start to tank as an organization And if there
is the tanking in mind for draft choice you mentioned
Shador Sanders, how does that impact the players? So long

(01:42):
with the answer this asked this question. When you look
at the ratest players, those who are available to go
out there and play, Max Crosby being one of those players,
do you feel as though some of those players are
just trying to say, you know what, the season is done.
I'm trying to make sure I don't get injured.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
Yeah, I don't sense that from this group, And I
think part of that reason is because Max Crosby is
such a warrior and he wouldn't let that happen in
that locker room number one number two even organizationally, to
talk about, you know, potentially tanking. Well, there's no guarantee
that Antonio Pears is going to be here beyond next year,

(02:21):
and he's coaching for either his job here or maybe
to you know, inspire another team to take a look
at him, should not work out here in Las Vegas.
You know, Tom Tolasco, there's no guarantees you know, how
long he's going to be here. So you know, the
notion of trying of kind of purposely trying to tank
or subtly trying to tank, I don't get that sense

(02:43):
at all, because you know, everybody that's that's in that
building is really coaching for their future. You've got a
big new new decision maker or you know, at the
very least somebody that's gonna have a lot of sway
over these next couple of years and big, big decisions
in Tom Brady. And I think everybody is aware of that.
So I don't think that there's really any any consideration

(03:05):
to that within the building. Now, that's said because of
the reasons that I've that I've talked about in terms
of the injuries and the limited you know, quarterback that
they have, it's just gonna kind of happen organically. That's
what's been happening. Last week being a perfect example, they
played a noble game against the Miami Dolphins. It was

(03:25):
a competitive game. At the end of the day, they
ran out of gas for a lot of the reasons
that we've been talking about, penalties, turnovers, bad quarterback play,
and the defense that just doesn't have enough horses right
now to compete for four quarters.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
We're talking about Vinni bon Signori of any You sort
of touched on it there. And the next question I
want to get into is Antonio Pierce situation. You know
you had player lobbying there. I was told that, you
know that Mark Davis kind of wanted to do something else,
but I kind of talked into the Antonio Pierce thing
by the players. First of all, is the truth to that?
Second of all, is he in trouble? Is is he
out at the end of the year. True.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
For the first question, there's no question that he that
he listened to his players, and you know, I think
that he felt like maybe he didn't do that a
few years before with a Rich Pasacia decision. I don't
think that was the wrong decision, letting rich Pasacia move
on from the interim coach position. But that's just me.
But I think enough players spoke up about, hey, let's

(04:24):
not let that happen again. So I so I think
he was swayed by his players in this case with
Antonio Pearson. It's probably one of the reasons why I
think they, you know, the coaching staff got two year
contracts this year. I think I think Mark Davis was
preparing for the possibility that of this not working. So
so you know, you've you've got that. Uh. As far

(04:46):
as Antonio Pears, I mean, I've talked to people in
the NFL who feel like, especially with Tom Brady becoming uh,
you're having a voice now in things that that maybe
there's gonna be some consideration to move in on from
Antonio Peers as the organization is going to have to
eventually ask themselves and Tom Brady to have to ask
themselves this as well, is if the Raiders end up

(05:09):
with a high draft pick, let's just say that they're
able to draft at Sanders, you have to ask yourself
and as an organization, do you do you have faith
in Antonio Peers having the leadership, coaching, assistant, coaching, vision
and everything that you want from a coaching staff to

(05:30):
be able to maximize what will be the most important
as that that they have in this building for years. Right,
you can't mess that up. You can't screw it up.
And as an organization or a high draft quarterback, you
just can't. So they're going to have to ask themselves
as Antonio Pears showed enough to give them confidence that

(05:52):
he's the right guy to develop that quarterback or have
that plan in place from a coaching perspective to develop
that quarterback. And I don't know that you can answer
that the question definitively yet right now because he hasn't
shown enough. And is that is allowing him to learn
on the job or hope that he is that coach

(06:13):
outweigh you know how important you know this asset is,
and you know want to avoid screwing it up. So
I think for those reasons, unless there's there's some kind
of a strong finish this year, and you know, uh
and and and he answers some of those questions with
the resounding yes. I would have to say that that

(06:34):
it's it's it's it's heading in that direction where there's
probably going to be a coaching Jason.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
All right, Benny, I've heard you mentioned shau Door Sanders
name twice in this conversation.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
Saw, I'll ask.

Speaker 3 (06:46):
You if you are looking at shaud Door Sanders, and
let's just say the Raiders find themselves in a predicament
where they're on the clock, they have that top draft choice,
shad Door Sanders is there. What have you seen from
shaud Door Sanders gives you any inclination that he could
be the quarterback to uplift the Raiders' organization. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
Um, bullish on Trudeur Sanders for a lot of different reasons.
I think that, you know, he's he's probably the best
pure park the pocket pascor Uh in this draft. I
think he's got maturity to him. You know, I've heard
some people of the sure centers with money and Conal
Las Vegas. I'm like, he's had money in his pocket
his whole life. You know, he could have taken a
million different paths that led to a nice easy life

(07:31):
for himself. He chose the harder path. Actually, it takes
a lot of discipline and uh, you know, and sacrifice
to be where he's gotten. Just where he's gotten. So
I don't have any worries about his maturity level coming
to a place like Las Vegas. He's been in the spotlight,
you know, for for for a long time. He's he's
he's friends with Tom Brady. They have a working relationship,

(07:53):
any personal relationship, I think that bodes well. If Tom
Brady sees something in him, they knew. Am I to question.
But from a talent standpoint, and I've watched all of
Sher Sanders games. My son is a huge fan, and
that's kind of how I got in on that a
couple of years ago, going all the way back to
Jackson State. I think there's something there. I think the
actors there. I think you would be a perfect, you know,

(08:15):
player for the Raiders to build around. I think it
would put you know, fans in the seats, not that
there aren't fans in the seats, but unfortunately, you know,
far too many games is fans of the other team.
I think to create hope and excitement for a Raiders
fan base that looks around and sees Jayden and Daniels
doing his thing in Washington, Stroud doing his thing in

(08:36):
in in Houston. Now maybe even bow Nick's doing what
he's doing in in in Denver and wondering when's it
going to be our turn to have that young quarterback
come in here and and rally around and building around.
So I think for a lot of different reasons, he
checks off all the boxes that I would like to
check off if I'm an organization.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
Talk with Vinnie bad SIGNIORI Vegas Nation reporter at the
Review Journal. Vinny, as we look at this thing, you
guys already made an offensive. Cooridator chain fired. Luke gatse
the offense would much improved of my boys, scot E.
Turner there taking over that. Did that bringe some life
into that? Or is that just the you know, the
one game bump.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
Yeah, and I think it definitely looked better and it
looked more creative, you know. I like the way they
I don't know that they want to live in a
world where Rock Bowers is getting sixteen targets a game
that was probably a little bit too much, but I
like the creativity that they showed in trying to create
favorable matchups for him, which is about just about it

(09:36):
against anybody that tries to attend him. But they got
they put him in motion, they line them up in
the backfield, they got him isolated on linebackers that he
kind of toyed with, and so I think from that perspective,
it looked better without question. Now, the bottom line is
the bottom line. They came into the game averaging eighteen
points seven points per game. They scored nineteen points per game,
so it didn't really affected the bottom line as much.

(09:58):
They were bad in the red zone one of three,
you know, so so that that was a continuation of
some of some problems that they've had. They couldn't run
the ball. Uh, that's another continuation of a problem. The
problems that pre existed got Turner beating the play caller.
But I do think that there was a little bit
of a shot in armament of energy and some new
ideas and some new vision, and I do think that

(10:20):
that's something that the Raiders is going to be able
to build on. The problem is it's still Gardner Minshew
at quarterback for at least one more week, and he's
just he's just shown the propensity to you know, turn
the ball over at ill advised times, or miss open
wide receivers, or make bad throws, whether it's visually or
just execution wise throwing throwing the ball. So that's that's

(10:43):
going to be something that Scott Turner is just going
to have to live with right now. But I but
I do think that that it looked a lot better
without question.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
The last time the Broncos faced off against the Raiders.
The Raiders seem to have their way with the Broncos
at the very begin in the game, both on the
offensive defensive side of the ball, and if it wasn't
for the I guess Garner Menshew mistake throwing it right
into the hands of PS two, the Raiders could have
run away from that game. As they look to prepare

(11:12):
and play against the Broncos on Sunday, is there any
way that Antonio Piers can use maybe that first quarter
to kind of motivate his team at home who's actually struggling.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
Well, I want to go back to that play that
you just talked about, because in my analysis, I mean,
it might have turned around the Broadcos season and it
put the Raiders on a really bad path. Conversely, So
you know that was a play where the Raiders were
getting ready to go up seventeen to three, and I
don't see the Broncos coming back from that deficit, and
I think the Raiders win that game, and who knows

(11:46):
what trajectory it would have sent their season. But obviously
we saw what happened and it really changed the directions
of both teams in a lot of ways. So it's
fascinating to actually think about that play and where the
Raiders look to be going, and where it was seemed
to be added for the Broncos and now where we
are today. So that's the fascinating point that you bring up.

(12:07):
You know, in terms of the motivation, that hasn't really
been a problem. The Raiders play hard, you know, and
they typically play competitively, but they're just down so many
players and are so limited at quarterback that eventually it
all catches up to them. You know, they're giving up
the most points in the game. In the fourth quarter,
the offense has you know, I think the second worst
time of possession in the NFL. You know, Raiders are

(12:31):
they can't get to the quarterback because of the injuries. Conversely,
they've given up thirty three sacks. You know, the Broncos
have thirty nine sacks. They stopped the run. That's not
even an issue with the Raiders because the Raiders can't
run on their own, so the motivation isn't the problem.
I just don't see it as a as a favorable matchup,
you know, for the Raiders. Having said all that, they
go out there and win the game. And that's not

(12:53):
gonna shock me because it is the NFL. But I'd
be surprised at this point.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
The last one from me, Daniel Jones cut by the
Giants today. Patrick Graham, the defensive coordinator there, obviously went
up against Daniel Jones for a couple of seasons when
he was the DC there at UH in New York.
He Scotty Turner, who was in the division as an OC,
and saw Daniel Jones over there. Is there any you
think there's anything to maybe pick it up Daniel Jones
seeing what you got and uh uh, hoping you get
the compensatory pick out of out of him at the

(13:18):
end of the season since he's eligible.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
I mean, the compensive important artistic you know, uh definitely
throws a wrinkle into you know, I just don't I
don't see it. And if I'm Daniel Jones, I'm probably
looking to go learn under you know, Kyle Chaahan or
Seat McVay or or or something like that. Kevin O'Connell
maybe in Minnesota, or Mike McDaniel in Miami. Uh. You know,

(13:42):
the situations where you know, if you get off the field,
you're you're you're surrounded by great coaching and great players,
and maybe parlay that into a into a nice deal
for yourself next year. At the very least, give yourself
a chance to learn under some bright young minds. You know,
for the from the Raiders perspective, it makes a lot
he'd beat the best quarterback that they have on the roster.

(14:02):
And you know, you know, it's not you know, that's
not saying a lot for Daniel Jones necessarily, but the
Raiders' roster right now is but it is at quarterback.
So it would make a lot of sense because you
probably play. But I do wonder if you're if we're
talking about, you know, tanking without saying you're tanking, if
you're the Raiders, do you do you bring in a

(14:23):
quarterback that might get you a couple of meaningless to
wins if he even gets on the field. And jeopardize
that draft position. You know, I don't know. I don't
know that I would want to necessarily do that, but
it's it's definitely something that's crossed my mind, and it'll
be fascinating to see what happens on Monday after he
clears waivers and decides, because I do think he's gonna

(14:44):
end up with it with the team, and I guess
there's two ways to look at it for him. Do
you want to get on the field and play with
a bad team maybe, but at least put some film
out there. Or do you want to go someplace where
you know you're gonna get some really good coaching in
a great environment. And who knows Rock Perdy is hurt
right right now. You never know what's gonna happen with
two Tago viola. So so those are situations that that

(15:06):
for me, if I was Daniel Jones, I'd be looking
at that more than the Raiders. Villy.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
