Speaker 1 (00:00):
I appreciate you guys being along for the ride, going

(00:01):
right after the Kawait Comas for Hotline and bringing a
guy Cody rourk Cody, how you doing this evening?

Speaker 2 (00:06):
I'm good, my friend.

Speaker 3 (00:07):
How are you doing? You know?

Speaker 1 (00:08):
Victory Monday. It's always always a good time around here.
You know, that game, as Grant pointed out, was boring
in all the right ways for the Denver Broncos and
never felt like they were despite the final score being
a little closer, The game never felt like it was
that close.

Speaker 4 (00:22):
It was one of those games I think the Broncos needed.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Is they ramp up to a potentially very difficult fourth
quarter here the crown jewel of which you would say
was probably Kansas City, although you know they've hauled on
hard times, much to the chagrin of no one around here,
based on you know, based on the way they played
this year. You got the Packers, the Jags who are
absolutely no slouch, the Chiefs at Arrowhead on a short

(00:47):
week on Christmas, and the Chargers, who Sean Payton's beat well,
he hasn't beaten, but he has only beat hardball once
in his entire career.

Speaker 4 (00:54):
On the last second field goal way back in like
twenty thirteen.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
As we look at the back part of this schedule,
what's our confidence level here as we're in the race for.

Speaker 4 (01:02):
The number one seed?

Speaker 2 (01:04):
And man, you know, I actually I feel pretty good
about where they're at. I think this is a team
that has seemingly responded almost every challenge. And really it
started with that Philadelphia Eagles game after Week four, you know,
week five, you have to go to Philadelphia Faith and University.
You come back in that game and you have to
take on the Jets, you know whose defense was, you know,
gave them a challenge. They overcome that, and you know,

(01:26):
you rattle off ten straight wins.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
I mean, that's not an easy feat.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
And I know there are a lot of people out there,
are a lot of national programs. So they haven't beaten anybody.
They haven't done this, they haven't done that. The winning games,
and that's the only thing that matters in this league.
You know, Wiseman once said, winning is winning, whether even
if it's you know, by an intro a mile or
is this guy likes to live his life quarter a
mile at a time. The Broncos just they find a

(01:49):
way to do it. And I think The thing is, Ben,
is everyone's so never they want style points. And yes,
I think it would be great if the Broncos came
out and let's say they beat a team by twenty
five plus points.

Speaker 4 (02:00):
Okay, that'd be awesome.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
The last time it be the team significantly it was
Cowboys right now. That was obviously nice to see. But
they're winning games. And to your point here, this is
Nick and I agree your co host Nick. So we
disagreed on yesterday about that because he wanted them to
win by like forty five points, and I thought to myself,
I'm like, okay, Like this was so dominant victory for

(02:23):
the Broncos offense, time on possession thirty nine minutes. Ben,
If you have thirty nine minutes time of possession, you know,
over one hundred and fifty yards, you have twenty four points.
That's pretty dang good. Like, if you're going to score
forty five points, I don't think we've seen teams do
that with thirty nine minutes time on possession. It's very
very difficult unless your defense is scoring points as well.
So I just felt like never took control, you know,

(02:44):
the game plan. I just felt like it was crisp offensively,
the run game was there, bow Knicks was quick, he
was decisive, taken what the defense gave him. You couldn't
have gotten out of Vegas with a better win. And
you're healthy two, which is nice. He didn't have any
kind of questions. I'd say, leave, Yeah, I mean, they
took care of business there.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
I don't have any certainly concerns with the way they
played the Raiders game. I thought Archie Harvey UH did
a little bit of growing up and that game started
running the ball the way he needs to run the ball,
run it with authority, little patients, little vision, and that
did wonders for him. But overall, I didn't come away
with any any question marks out of that Raiders game.
I just look at this, this back quarter of the schedule.
I'm like, well, if they wanted, you know, if they
wanted tough teams, they're about to get them. If if

(03:25):
the national pundits out there, whose opinions I could not
possibly care any less about, UH want want these types
of games, Well they're about to get them, and we're
about to see, you know, as far as that goes.
And the Packers present a unique challenge, I mean they've
got a creative defense. They've got good players across the board.
The offense is starting to figure it out there. The
good news for Denver is these games are all at home.

(03:46):
Outside of the Christmas Day game, the Thursday night game
against the Thursday game excuse me, against Kansas.

Speaker 4 (03:50):
City, these games are all at home.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
So you've got kind of an interesting set up here
to end the season.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Look, and obviously we know Monday Night football is in progress,
you know, so much after Monday Night you want to
see where obviously the charges are if they lose somehow, Well,
now the Broncos have a three game lead with four
games to go, and you know you have three of
those games at home, one of them on the road.
That's that's a good place the Broncos. They won eleven
street at home dating back to last season, so they're
in a good spot right now. But you are right,

(04:17):
they're gonna get tough, i'd say for me coming into
this matchup. Certainly, how the Packers deploy Micah Parsons, you
have to figure out how to have an answer for that.
It's gonna be a little different. Like Max Crosby love
how the Broncos kind of attacked him a little bit
this week. But it's different with Micah. You know, he's
an a re level player like Crosby, but there's just
a different I don't know, there's a different physicality there

(04:39):
when it comes to Mike. You know, whereas I look
at Crosby, he's got to the strength, but he's a finesse,
high ef or high motor guy. You know, there's a
different aspect you have to prepare for. Well, what concerns
me the most this week against Green Bay is the defense.
I feel like coming out of the Buy League has
been a little sluggish. They've been slow, They've played a
little more softer cushion. They've had a couple of miscommunication issues,

(05:00):
and certainly we haven't seen them play as dominant as
we did the first eleven oation and even Nick Demido
was talking about that after the game yesterday. So for me,
against this Packers offense, where you never know what you're
gonna get. With Jordan Love and the body, he can
be very good, very capable. They have so many receiving
options and weapons. This to me is I think a
big week here. The bright side on it like not
to spend it even if they lose. It's a non

(05:22):
conference game, so it doesn't necessarily impact you in that standpoint,
But you want to take care of business, get win
against the NFC's best team right now, and I guarantee
you like the pressure will be hones. Especially if the
Chargers lose, the Broncos have a chance to coach Afus
here very very soon.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
Yeah, and that's that's fascinating talt with Cody Rourke. That's
going to be you know an interesting thing. I mean,
the nick Rights of the world out there that maybe
ducked putting their money where their mouth was on some
of the you know, ridiculous claims they made at the
beginning of the year talking about the Broncos finishing last
and the Raiders being in the playoffs. You know, I
was certainly going to have to eat their place of
humble pie. But at the end of the day, I mean,

(05:56):
you know, Denver's on pace to do the darn thing.
I mean, I know the Chargers are starting up on
the Eagles right now as we speak, but uh, the
Denver of the math on this is quietly working in
the broncos favor.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
No, And the way it's all playing out too, I mean,
you would have hoped that maybe Kansas City would have
lost to the Colts a couple of weeks ago, that
would have been big for them, you know, but I
definitely think that right now, like Denver, they're focused on
themselves and they got a great opportunity. Like you know,
if people are standing in there, they're like, oh, they
haven't played anybody. I disagree. They beat this defendingly super
World champions, they beat the runner up in the Super Bowl.

(06:30):
They you know, they're they're taking care of business. This
is going to be a fun stretch because these are
essentially you know, you mentioned the team's Green Bay, you
mentioned Jacksonville. I mean Kansas City. They have a chance
to miss the place. I think they are going to
end up missing ultimately. And then started there's going to
be a wild card playoff team. You got three out
of your four games against playoff teams guaranteed at this point,
I believe, you know, as we get to the final

(06:51):
stretch and then you get into the playoffs, obviously they
don't counch yet, but this is a playoff atmosphere here
in Denver, and luckily three out of the four are
going to be here at home. So what a better
way to take advantage in front of a you know,
a rockous crowd that's been waiting to get back to
the field since they beat Kansas City right before the
bye week.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
Has the.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
Has the bar been raised in terms of expectations, because
when you came into this season, I think a lot
of people would have said, hey, we get a playoff win,
it's a pretty good year. We're starting to you know,
we're continuing forward progresses. This does this team need to
do more than just quote a playoff win?

Speaker 2 (07:29):
I mean you'd like them to write I look, everyone's
written this team off. So I think in fact, even
if they win a playoff, I think people are, yeah,
they seed their expectations because a lot of people have
tried to diminish that if they this is a year Ben.
I feel like right now the NFL is more wide
open than we've seen in quite some time. The parody
across the league is in a pretty good spot if
anybody's you know, chance to take And the Broncos right now,

(07:52):
they're very healthy for the most part, they're playing well
as of now. I thought they played complimentary in all
three phases. They have a really opportunity here, I think
to do just that. You know, there's a year to
win it. It's this year and the parallels to that
twenty fifteen season Santa Clara, very good defense. Can the
offense just get going? Thames are going to open up
here for this team, and I'm excited to see, you know,

(08:14):
if they can obviously do that. But yes, I do
think their expectations for them certainly have been raised.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
Talking with Kobe Wark as we looked down as this
final what could derail the Broncos is as they continue
their march towards this number one overall seed.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
Well, I think if you have, you know, if a
big injury certainly pops up at a key position, that
can certainly, you know, hurt. I mean, I like how
Denver was able to manage without PS two. I mean
they did better than I think most.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
People thought that they would.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
Myself included that those guys really answered the call. To me,
I mean my concern Ben and I don't know if
this is just from what we all experienced last year,
granted that was because of an injury to Riley Moss.
I'm a little anxious that the defense is going to
you know, keetering on falling off the way that they
did last year in the month of December. That that's
the concern that I have. I don't think that they will,

(09:01):
but you had that question in the back of your head,
Like they carried the water for eleven weeks and they
were dominant. I mean, they did their job. I mean,
you couldn't have asked me more from the defense. But
does it kick up to you at one point? To me,
that is the concern. That's the question I'm following here.
Something that could potentially get in the way of the
Broncos ultimately achieving the goal of winning a playoff game,
winning the division, which I think they'll win the division,

(09:22):
but the playoff game and getting to the super Bowl.
I think those are things that could derail them.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
Ty with Cody Rourke from High Sports Cody, Marvin Mims
gets in the end zone on the return.

Speaker 4 (09:31):
Why don't we see more of Marvin Mims in the offense.
I know Sean Payton.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
Today gave his token, we need to figure out how
to use them more, which is what he says to
every you know the presser. But at the end of
the day, I mean he forgot he had Marvin Mims
for you know, two thirds of last season.

Speaker 4 (09:46):
Then he puts him out there and has an offensive explosion.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
Is he suddenly going to remember he's got Marvin Mims
down the stretch here for the Broncos.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
You have to hope. So, I mean, look how big
he was last year down the stretch here for them
in terms of the touchdowns, the productions. Obviously you see
what he'd bring to the table on the special team side.
I mean, we certainly saw that on Sunday. We saw
that last year. But I would say the thing here
for Marvin is he's kind of buried in the snap
count right now. When you talk about other guys like
Troy Franklin snaps up, kind of fallen off a little

(10:12):
bit and Pat Bryant snaps Over the last handful of weeks,
they've increased. I'm not sure if that's a matchup contingent,
but we do know that Sean likes to play the
bigger wide receivers as opposed to you know, the smaller guys,
the shorter, you know, fast twitch guys. Where I think
there is value for Marling hiss Oult. But you know,
a big reason why I think we're not seeing that
is because they're facing a lot of zone covers. They're
not getting as much man this year. Tiving to talk

(10:35):
to guys in the locker room receivers and saying, you know,
we we have some really great plays and some designs
called we have some man beaters, but we've checked out
of them because they're going to zone. They're playing a
lot of cover six, Cover four like, so they're seeing
a lot of just zone coverage. That's kind of keeping
them on the back end a little bit from being
able to obviously take the top off of the defense,
and so they're trying to take away the deep stuff
Brackett in Portland Sutton and then obviously keeping everything in

(10:56):
front of them and trying to rally and tackle. So
I think that's part of the problem too.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
You gotta get another zone team and the Packers coming
up on Sunday. Marvin Mims, for his part, had his
most productive game against the New York Giants six catches
for eighty five yards on seven targets. Since then, he
has a whopping four targets three receptions for thirteen yards.
As he barely gets any snaps to your credit, as
has been pointed out, and that's one of those things.

Speaker 4 (11:21):
It just bugs me.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
I mean, anytime you get this guy targets, he produces.
Look at the Cincinnati game, Look the Giants.

Speaker 4 (11:25):
Game this year.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
You get him targets and he produces, And I just
don't understand why we're not doing that. Any concern he
signed the seer McCormick to the practice buy today. Any
concern about the lack of size in.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
The running back room, I don't know. I think from
a physicality standpoint, it's certainly a nice thing to have,
especially with you know, you don't want RJ. Who I
think you're gonna rely a lot on, not just as
a runner, but obviously is a versatile out of the backfield,
a pass catching, the option. He's absorbing a lot of
contact and actually since taking over the old JK. Dobbins,

(11:56):
he is. Then you got Julie McLaughlin. Willie is that
second guy. I don't know. I mean, I feel like
they've balanced it relatively well the last couple of weeks,
especially with getting Adam Prentie involved in some looks out
of the backfield. I mean, heck, you have the longest
play you know, the rug game for Blocos yesterday. I
just think that maybe adding size there is going to
be good. You get some flexibility by you know, maybe

(12:17):
having a practice squad the game day elevation with Sincere McCormick,
who's obviously a five nineties shoulder, but he's a bulkier
back about two hundred and ten pounds. You know, he
has some flexibility there for size. But I think that
Denver is just going to roll with the approach that
they've got here with our Jay with Joelo tit of
the day in instances, as we finally saw him get

(12:37):
some carries yesterday, which was a little bit of a surprise,
talk about going away from the script a little bit.
And then obviously Adam Prent this is a mergence there.
It's just John always says it's hard to feed three guys.
That's usually why you have two guys in the mix,
and then you have other guys in different roles. So
not right now, I'm not as concerned right now, but
certainly if there is an injury that pops up over
the next four weeks, that's definitely something I think we

(12:59):
have to take a look at and say, hey, do
the Broncos have the durability at that position. I think
so far it's been good, but you never know what's
late in the season.

Speaker 4 (13:07):
Cody Roark my LA Sports.

Speaker 1 (13:08):
Last one from from me here, Phil Rivers, the Indianapolis
Colts take a look to going to work him out
tomorrow turned forty four today. His oldest child is older
than Tyler Warren, who would be his teammate if he
comes on to the Innaplis Colts. What do you how
do you feel about the possibility of a Phil Rivers
return to the NFL.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
Well, let's see if his you know, his physical comes
back is having a Grade three hamstring. You know, some
other guys around the league. But I mean, if philthy Phil,
can you know, maybe give them some some rooks, then
you know, great, I think obviously. I mean, I don't
know if it's a better option right now than Riley Leonard.
I think you're just kind of going with the name
of pill here. Like, you know, Philip Rivers hasn't thrown
a pass what since twenty nineteen, twenty twenty, It's been

(13:47):
a while since he's thrown a pass, and of course
he used to be for the Colts. But there's kind
of be somebody else out there that they can maybe
pluck off of practice squad if they're not so confident
in obviously Rightley Leonard's ability. But we'll see, we'll see
how things go. But you know, it would be weird
to see Philip Rivers back playing and watch and keep
the Colts inside the playoffs right now, because man, that

(14:07):
the last four games for them. Ben it is a
gauntlet for them right now out Gangrad Jones and so
not a good place for them to be in.

Speaker 4 (14:15):
Yeah, it's not. Cody Weld appreciate the time as always, Bud,
appreciate you.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
Thank you so much, my friend.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
YEP, take care Cody Rourke my life sports guys, thank
veteran active military member or first responder with twenty five
hundred dollars through February first submits your nomination name and
they're deserving reason for twenty five hundred dollars at Kawa
Colorado dot com Slash contest.

Speaker 4 (14:33):
It's a Heroes thank you.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
Presented by Common Spirit Health and Fix It twenty four
to seven. When we come back, Roby Bean is going
to join US ROCKUS Country tonight. Bring on our good
friend from CBS, romy Bean, Romey, How.

Speaker 4 (14:44):
You doing doing great?

Speaker 3 (14:46):
How you doing it is?

Speaker 4 (14:48):
It's a victory Monday, but it's it's just all over winning.

Speaker 1 (14:51):
It feels like here in Colorado sports these days, between
and the Nuggets, the as you get the Broncos that
are winning, the Bobs go out and get a new
offensive coordinator. I don't even know to start with all
this winning.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
I can't keep up in the best kind of ways.
It's like, you know, yesterday you have to trifecta. You know,
it's crazy to think all three have never won of
the same day as well, but it's just what a
time to be a never sports fan? Is that true?

Speaker 4 (15:16):
All three have never won on the same day before.

Speaker 3 (15:18):
Yeah, and it happened. They were all on the road,
which I feel like makes it a little bit cooler,
But yeah, never happened, that is certain.

Speaker 4 (15:26):
I did not know that.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
There's something I just got educated on talking with Roma
being from CBS. Broncos get the victory in a game
that Grant called boring in the best way, and I
feel like that's probably the most apropos way to describe
that game. You never felt like the Broncos were really
being challenged, despite the weird field goal at the end
and all that kind of stuff. Who cares, But the
right kind of victory as R. J. Harvey started to

(15:48):
hopefully maybe come into.

Speaker 3 (15:49):
His own Yeah, I think appropriate victory one where if
you have truly Super Bowl aspirations, then playoff, you know,
first round by aspirations and one seed as then a
team like the Raiders, you should be able to beat
them wire to wire, beat them handily. I know it will.
Granted it was one score, but that doesn't really tell
the story that one was never out of hand, that

(16:10):
one was a complete game from the Broncos, and they
just you never once felt the slightest bit like nervous
that they were going to not win this game. And
that's the kind of game you have to have again
against the two and ten team, that's the way that
you should behave. And I'd say one thing that continues
to stand out to me about this Bronco squad is
is that you know, no matter what's going on, you

(16:32):
kind of I think a lot of people have been saying, oh, okay,
you know, seven wins, eight wins, nine wins, Oh, they're
going to just drop one. Oh, this one's they're right
to drop one. They're always in the right mentality, where
with this team, it doesn't appear that never appears to
be an issue. You know, they they go week to week,
they handle it week to week, and they certainly have
bigger goals and they play like that. So the first
part of your question, that's exactly what they should have done,

(16:53):
and it was nice nobody had to call the cardiologists.
And to the other side of it. With RJ. Harvey,
I think this is exactly what everyone who's kind of
you've been wanting to see. He's really coming into his
own And you know, I was kind of thinking about
it because obviously, with JK. Doubbins going out, arguably outside
of Bnick's the biggest piece of the offense to lose
just a brutal loss. But for Harvey to come in now,

(17:14):
he's taking a lot of contact, right, he plays a
real physical game. So I think as a rookie it
kind of in a sick way works out that now
he's really getting all of these reps and getting this
opportunity to really rev up as they're closing out the
season and getting into the postseason, because you know, as
a rookie, I don't know how much the body would handle.
Perhaps if it was this much contact from week one

(17:36):
through a seventeen game season, through a postseason run. So
in a sick way right with the injury and him
getting this load, it's coming on at a good time.
But he looks more and more comfortable. I think then
the part I'm most depressed about is he continually just
looks more and more comfortable just run in between the tackles.
That was his big thing at the beginning of the season.
He loves to bounce outside, but more and more just

(17:57):
kind of, you know, running it down their throats. I
think was a big wanted to see from him. So
that's been a great plus as well, and he's just
just really coming into his own.

Speaker 1 (18:06):
Really, really has been another guy came into his own.
Marvin Mims getting his first return touchdown of the season,
and I've you know, I've been complaining for a while,
why don't we use Mims more? I feel like this
is more fuel for that fodder. Sean Payton, of course,
today during the presser, says, well, we got to use
him more, and I retort, well, sir, you are the
arbiter of that.

Speaker 4 (18:26):
Let's let's see it.

Speaker 1 (18:28):
We did see Marvin Mims get used down the stretch
last year, to everyone's delight, including the productivity on the
Broncos offense. What's it going to take to get Marvin
Mims out there on offense?

Speaker 3 (18:37):
You know, it just brings me great joy that you
feel this way, because I feel like I sit here
all day long and I just I've been shouting for
more Marvin Mims for three years now. And I don't
know if he's such a valuable piece of the return
game that they don't want to utilize him much as
much of the offense. I don't know if that's the reasoning,
but Sean Payton has been saying for three years they

(18:58):
need to get Marvin more involved. Such a dynamic playmaker.
We just need to see more Marvin memes and I
would love to see him involved more on the offense both.
You know, he can do all sorts of things. You
can get those quick outs and take him for a
lot of game. He can take the top off the defense.
He's such a versatile player. And the other thing was,
you know Marvin is he's so smart. He can play

(19:19):
and he was working with the running backs last year,
you know, playing a little out of the backfield. He
can really do a lot. So your guess is as
good as vine. But here is hoping because yes, I'm
a big I'm a president of the Marv fan of
the More Marv Fan Club.

Speaker 1 (19:33):
I'm with you, I am, I'm absolutely They talk with
Ruby Bean from CBS, stepping away from the Broncos for
a minute. Shad Or Sanders had himself a little bit
of a game. I would guess it was against the
Tennessee Titans. They ultimately didn't win because his head coach
hates him, fun and whatever else.

Speaker 4 (19:47):
You want to say.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
But Gior Sanders throws for three hundred and sixty four yards,
three passing touchdowns, he ran for twenty nine yards, got
a rushing touchdown, did though the one interception, did have
the two sacks.

Speaker 4 (19:57):
But overall, what if a performance for him?

Speaker 1 (20:01):
And it's sort of getting interesting there in Cleveland as
he continues to say the right things in these press conferences,
but the skis him.

Speaker 4 (20:06):
There is very obvious that his head coach just does
not like him.

Speaker 3 (20:10):
I mean, it's just such a wild situation when you
go back to that game and there is absolute no
validation for keeping him out and running the wildcat when
you're going for the tie. I mean, there's just especially
when he had the performance that he has. It's it's
so frighteningly obvious that there is he does not like
him and does not want him. And you know, my

(20:31):
hope is that if that, if, if it's the case
where Stefanski really doesn't want him, then then move move on,
either move on from the coach or trade Shador and
give him an opportunity somewhere else. But you know, Shador
is the guy with a lot of talent, and it's
one of those guys where you want to be able
to see what he can do. And I think what's
interesting too with Shador is he's great with the media.

(20:53):
He's always been obviously, you know, he's been media trained
his whole life. But Shador is also just he's a
good kid. I think that gets lost a lot and
more and more he answers these questions and people say, wow,
what a good answer. And yes, he's got media training,
but you know, he's also a good kid who I
truly just hope he gets the opportunity to be successful,
because you don't know, it's hard to understand why you

(21:14):
wouldn't just just embrace it and see what you got,
you know, and certainly not take him out and run
a wild cat it's such a weird it's a weird
situation to be watching. But I just you know, if
they don't like him, then I would hope they would
give them an opportunity to go somewhere else and drive
you successful.

Speaker 4 (21:33):
You got to wonder if the Raiders have their eye
on that, you know, as they've got to figure something
out for next year. Just a thought there.

Speaker 1 (21:39):
Time with Roby Bean from CBS Switching gears talk about
the Denver Nuggets for just a minute here. Jamal Murray
has been playing lights out this year. There are questions
about him, questions about you know, whether right he was
the right one two punch for Yolkic to maximize him
down the stretch of his career. As far as that
kind of stuff goes. You move on from Michael Porter
in the off season and you kind of hope Cameron
Johnson's going to pick up. The scoring slacked, But you

(22:00):
look around and you wonder where that scoring went. It's
largely been to Jamal Murray. He's averaged twenty five a game,
He's hitting forty five percent from downtown. He's averaging seven
assists a game. You know, Jamal Murray's really kind of
on a tear for the Denver Nuggets.

Speaker 3 (22:14):
And the most incredible piece about what you're saying is
that we're talking about that in early December, and the
knock on Jamal has been rightfully so for a really
long time that Jamal is always kind of quiet. He
worked his way into game shape, he worked his way
into season shape, and then he'd come on late and
of course has always been an incredible playoff riser. But
you know, at the end of last season, I asked

(22:37):
David Adaman what his challenge was for Jamal Murray. He
was kind enough to come on my show and he said,
by challenges for Jamal to start the season in shape.
And I thought, okay, that's interesting, and it shows you
what respect that they have for David Adelman, because Jamal
has done exactly that. He has come in shape from
the beginning of the season, and it's made such a difference.
And you look at this team without Christian Brown, without

(22:59):
Aaron Gore, and they almost haven't skipped a beat because well,
Yoki is just playing on another planet and he usually is.
But for Jamal to step up in this way, it's
just been so crucial for this team. And I think
when I think back to David Adaman saying that was
his challenge, and to think that Jamal really took that
to heart. That tells me a lot about the respect
that they have for this first time head coach. But

(23:20):
it has been incredible to watch Jamal. This is the
Jamal we're used to seeing, you know, April, May, June.
So it's been a lot of fun. And he won
his first Western Conference Player of the Week, so nice
for him to get recognized as well.

Speaker 1 (23:33):
Yeah, Murray plus one eighty went on the court on
the plus minus this year is an absolutely phenomenal number,
second on the team behind the aforementioned Nicole Jokich.

Speaker 4 (23:42):
The Abs off to a hot start as well.

Speaker 1 (23:44):
As we talk about the trinity of Denver Sports teams here,
leaving out those Rockies, we'll get to those maybe in
a little bit, but the Ads off to a hot
start is just potentially the Ads getting back to the
Cup time.

Speaker 3 (23:57):
I mean, the Apps are the Ambler and Apps, Bleep
and Wagon. I mean they are unbelievable, and you know,
it's you know, what is so interesting about this team
is there's a lot of different you know, some different
death players, but the dynamic when you've got two of
the best players on the planet in camcar and Nathan McKinnon.
We often talked about the past few years like, oh,

(24:19):
are we wasting their prime? Are you wasting their prime?
And you have to go back. You cannot overstate how
much impact Gabriel Linscott has on this team, because when
you look at the team from when they won the
Cup and then the few years after without Gabe and here, realistically, yes,
the roster construction is different, but the stars are very similar.

(24:39):
And it's one of those things. I've never seen a
team so dramatically with one player there or not there.
I mean, it's incredible. It's one of those things. The
entire locker room is different, the vibe is different, and
there are certain games like early in the season and
there was a game where nothing was going on and
gave the starting to fight and then afterwards he said, well,

(25:02):
nobody was scoring goals. Somebody had to do something. And
those are those like little moments where he's just that
X factor on this team. Maybe he's not as dynamic
on the ice, even though he's still dynamic, but the
leadership he brings, again, I've never seen one player have
such such a big impact it's it's kind of remarkable
to me. It's almost hard to kind of wrap my

(25:23):
head around. But it's just crazy to see the difference
it makes to every single player inside that locker room.

Speaker 4 (25:31):
The talk with Roby Bean from CBSCY.

Speaker 1 (25:32):
It doesn't really look like there's any competition for them
outside of Dallas this year. I mean, everybody else just
kind of seems stuck in that, you know, or all right,
but there doesn't seem like there's another excellent hockey team
out there besides Dallas.

Speaker 3 (25:45):
Yeah, it's crazy, like the avent just beating teams are
just like embarrassing them along the way. But I will
always maintain that the hardest trophy to win in sports
is the Stanley Cup. Things get so weird in hockey playoffs,
and that's the only thing that I think this team
is the best team in hockey, and I think that
they should win it all. But it's such a battle
of attrition. These guys are beating the hell out of

(26:05):
each other every other night. So many crazy things happened
where it just feels like, of all the sports, if
there could be a stunning upset, it could be that one,
just because hockey can be so unpredictable in that way.
But and I guess you could have a concern can
they maintain this level of play? But I don't see
why not, So I mean they feel unstoppable.

Speaker 1 (26:26):
The Rockies added a pitching coach, somebody who calls pitches
from the dugouts, and you see that in the lower
levels of baseball, you definitely you don't really see that
in pro baseball that often. Do you think that this
is maybe something they could spark Rockies pitching which has
been such a problem for so long.

Speaker 3 (26:44):
Yeah, I think it's such an interesting dynamic. But I
think at this point really open to the Rockies doing
anything different than what they have done to this point,
continuing to bring in outside eyeballs. It's just so important
and so crucial and good that they continue to do so.
And I think when you look at the Rocky s
pitching staff, they're not a ton you know, of super

(27:06):
veteran players on there, and so perhaps this is a
young enough, mold, kind of malieable enough team that this
could work really well for. And it's one of those
things to Ben where it's like, well it can't belay
much worse, So really open to kind of something that
is a little bit different that you don't normally see
at the big league level.

Speaker 4 (27:26):
That is, that is true.

Speaker 1 (27:27):
Back to the Denver Broncos. Of course, you had the
Kansas City Chiefs lose last night. The Houston Texans. Basically,
it's they have to win out and get helped even
make the playoffs. At this point, their reign as the
AFC West is over. It's down to the Broncos and
the Chargers. Chargers of course winning against the Eagles as
we speak. But you know, the Broncos are in the
driver's seat for this division. You've got a fairly tough

(27:49):
schedule down the stretch, including those aforementioned Chargers. This could
come down to the final week of the season potentially.
How do we view the Broncos chances at a winning
the AFC West and b getting that number one a seat.

Speaker 3 (28:01):
Yeah, you know, I think what is so exciting about
this is we're going to kind of see what this
team is made of because, as you mentioned, the next
four game arguably the toughest four game stretch on the schedule.
You down this stretch and like you said, there's probably
nobody going to be sitting in that final week, that
final week could before the division. It's possible, So I

(28:21):
think that it's it's going to be really exciting to
see that how this team performs behaves when everything's in
front of them. They're in the driver's seat. They've got
the tiebreakers over the Patriots. So do you go out
and take care of business?

Speaker 2 (28:36):
Now?

Speaker 3 (28:36):
I will say, so far, they've proven to be a
team that goes out and takes care of business. They
don't get too high, they don't get too low. You know,
they kind of walk the walk of a team that's
been there, even though the majority of them have not
been there. But I think this is going to show
us a lot about who this team is, how they
perform over the course of the next four games. If
there is some adversity, you know, how do they bounce

(28:59):
back from that. I'm just I'm very excited to see
kind of what we learned about the Broncos over the
course of the next four which is going to be
a really fun challenging for They got most of them
at home. That's a nice plus, But they know what's
in front of them, so I don't expect them to
take their foot off the gas. It's to be a
lot of fun to see how it unfolds, though they
should win the West and they're in a good spot

(29:19):
to get that.

Speaker 4 (29:21):
One seed at this point. And I asked this question
of Cody Rourc I talked to earlier. Has the bar
been raised in terms of expectation?

Speaker 1 (29:28):
I think if you'd asked at the beginning of the year,
people would have said, you win a playoff game, this
is a successful season.

Speaker 4 (29:33):
Has the bar been raised by their performance thus far?

Speaker 3 (29:37):
I think absolutely. You know, people are starting to ask
the question, right, is it super Bowl or bust, which,
on one hand is a bit ludicrous to ask of
a franchise that hasn't beitten at the Super Bowl, it
hasn't been on a playoff run period in ten years,
because last year wasn't a playoff run. But at the
same time, I think that you almost have to shed
the eight nine years of kind of in between Super

(30:00):
Bowl fifty and where they are last year and this
year and say, yes, the expectations are absolutely raised. I
can go one and done in the postseason would most
certainly be a disappointment, you know, And if you want
to be one of the front runners, the consistent front
runners in the AFC, which the Broncos up until recently
kind of always were. Then you got to be a
team that finds a way to get home field throughout

(30:22):
the throughout the playoffs, they get that first round by
and then goes on a run. And I think that
one hundred percent the Super Bowl conversation is it's a
fair conversation. It's pretty wild to say when you look
at where this franchise has been over the last decade,
but it's certainly a new dawn and now it's on
these guys to kind of carry into the new era.

Speaker 4 (30:43):
