On this throwback Thursday I was thinking about my brother Maxwell. We had a great conversation before his performance in Detroit.

I have to first off, have to, you know, run
off all the musicians that I was blessed to be
able to work with from the very beginning to even
right now. So I'd have to speak about that first
because it's about your team and for people you collaborate with.

That equal who you are in the end. So I'm
really lucky on that on that front. But I think
it's just I'm just trying to do.

Something that will not necessarily be represented in terms of
its popularity, but it's importance maybe, you know.

I don't know if that's what's happening, but that's the
goal that what I'm trying to do.

you doing that well, you get me friends, So I
appreciate you.

What is your most favorite thing about performing at the
Aretha right there off the water?

Oh man, it's uh, you know, it's it's where she's from.
It's it's it's it's her, it's her namesake, it's her place,
it's her house, and it's it's in a place where
all the greatest music inspired.
Speaker 3 (03:26):
So much of what I you know, what I what
I try to do in my work. So it's aw
full circle and quite amazing.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
To me when I when I see that I'm able
to even perform in places like this.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
I'm still pinching myself every day.

I don't I don't think I've even adjusted to the
normal aspect of my every day and how it's become.

Like this it always been for me, you know. Wow,
Still I get to do this still.

You know, you said something about talent, but there's a
lot of challenged people who don't get chances, you know,
out there, who are even my in my opinion, better
than me, you know. So either way, I'm just grateful that,
you know, the opportunity found its way.

I try to live up to the promise and the
responsibility of it. And then I cross my fingers and
I go, yeah.

Well, you definitely do it.

Every time you're in town, every time I've seen you perform,
it's always an amazing, amazing look you your showmanship is
I don't even know how to express it.

one to a hundred year, you would be at a million.

Dude. You go out there and you just you you
you kill it, man, you sell it.

on stage, the lights hits your eyes. You can only
see a for a couple of first roads. But you
don't really get to see that other. You know, fifteen
twenty thirty thousand people, what you do to them?

You drive a little bit and say, man, things be happening, bro,
things be happy that if you put aras out there,
you you got a Netflix special right there.

By myself, I'm just sad.

No, look again, I'm moved by the music. The music
is a is a message through me. I'm happy that
we can share in that message and celebrate that message.
That's that's the main goal for me, is you know,
giving everyone obviously their money's worth and a good time
and something that takes them away from their from their
daily grind, because you know we all have that. So

you know, I'm considered of that. At least I try
to keep that in mind as I put things.

insane with their ability and then their musicianship. So we're

tailor make things for the place I go to. And
of course Detroit is home of Motown. So so many records,
so many careers, so many legends come from Detroit.
