Speaker 1 (00:00):
Carry the G Radio Hour two coming at you live
sitting here in New York City, joined in Milwaukee by
Bill schmid armand Sari and Carry the G Radio Hour
two brought to you by Thetacre. They say defense wins
championships in life. THETA care is your first line of
defense against illness and injury. Stay strong, stay healthy, stay

(00:21):
in the game. Proud sponsor of Carry the G Radio,
THEDA Care. Tell you what, boys, I'm gonna need some
THETA care after last night, man still still dragon, got
I gotta tell you man to one too many shots,
one too many beers, but all in the service of
a great cause, which is a Brewers victory.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
So were the shots just after home runs? Was that
just in the mo'?

Speaker 3 (00:44):
That's how it started.

Speaker 4 (00:46):
That's how it starts, shots for home runs and then.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
The bartenders saying, hey, have another shot and then we'll
go okay. Sounds sounds like a sound plan to me.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
Yeah, And it is always tough when you get asked
to do one because it's like, I don't.

Speaker 4 (00:59):
I can't saying no at that point.

Speaker 5 (01:03):
But not say do it like and you're in your
in the celebration mode because they just hit a homer.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
Yeah, I'm running you're feeling.

Speaker 5 (01:11):
You're like, I don't want to manifest less homers, but
it does.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
But it does go from okay, we're doing shots for homers, fine,
and then it's like, you know, seventh inning and eighth
inning and hey, they haven't hit a homer in.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
A while, but you should still do a shot.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
Yeah that sounds good, right, all right, right, yeah, makes
all the sense in the world.

Speaker 4 (01:31):
As soon as possible. Actually, you know what we should
be We should get into something like that.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
So uh as always people joining us on the Chiefs
a TV YouTube channel, including one Mike Witt your number
two but not too eorish this week so far, Mike asking,
hey boys, with Davante Wyatt probably not playing this week.
I think we will see Brinson for the first time.
Thought he played good in the summer. One more thing,
Jackson Curio for president, Go Pack go.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
You have a lot of.

Speaker 4 (01:59):
Message is yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:00):
I don't know the legalities of it since he was
born in Venezuela.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
Not old enough, not born here.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
But other than that, you know the president of like
you know of us.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
It's a crazy time, a crazy time. Anything is possible.
So we'll see what we can do on that, But
for the DeVante Wyatt issue, it is an issue for
everything we're talking about the Bengals offensive line, what have you,
blah blah blah. Man that defensive front for the Packers
gonna miss Wyatt, and I don't think he plays this week,
although I will say he wasn't practicing on Monday.

Speaker 3 (02:35):
But Lafleur did indicate prior to the bye.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
Week that he was going to be considered week to week,
and now they've gone through the bye week, he probably again,
probably doesn't practice this week. We'll see tomorrow when they're
back on the practice field, but that's two weeks, right,
And the fact that they haven't placed him on injury reserve,
which would require him to miss four games, would give
you a little hope that he'll be back sooner rather
than later. Like that is the hope at this point.

(02:58):
But for this game, in particul Killer, I do think
we'll see a little Brinson. I do think na Zero
Stackhouse has to play a whole hell of a lot
better than he played down in Dallas. And you're gonna
have a little baptism by fire for some of these
young pups along the defensive line. Because it ain't stopping
just because why it's hurt. You know, they they still
they're just still gonna run at you. They're still gonna

(03:20):
test you. They're gonna try and run between those tackles
because they don't want to drop back. They don't want
Micael Parsons pinning his zar's back. They want to run
the ball. They're gonna want to run the ball the
same way the Cowboys did, the same way the Browns
tried to. That is the approach. It's gonna play quick
game in the passing game and run between the tackles.
So I do think, yeah, we'll probably see Brinson get

(03:40):
his first.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Action, which I'm excited for because I think he can
do a number of different things. And listen, not only
did the Packers like him more than Nazera stack House,
it seemed like the rest of the NFL did because
he was one of the guys that was gonna get drafted.
I thought Stackhouse at Georgia performed better. I thought he
was more of a draft pick than he was. So
I'm excited to see the opportunity that he has. Also, like,

(04:03):
let's not sleep on what Colby Wooden is doing. Right,
So I think a lot of and how good he
wasn't all the one on ones he was getting was
partially because of Devonte Wyatt occupying a lot of eyes
and attention on the interior. But Colby has really been
fighting and scrapping up front.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
So I think he's the jump this summer. Yeah, he's
he really has.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
He added the fifteen pounds, nags. It feels like he's
a little I mean again, heavier in the pants is
one part of it.

Speaker 6 (04:31):
Why you add the weight, but also to be able.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
To combat the physicality that teams are gonna throw at you.
And I thought he's held really, really firm against different
traps and different pullers. And he's got another big opportunity
for you. Think of guys that are trying to make cash.
Colby Wooden is a very much not made man in
the National Football League, and there's another good opportunity for
him to elevate his stot, his spot in stock.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
No doubt about it.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
And again that will undoubtedly be the approach from the Bengals.
So plenty of opportunities in that regard. And then I'm glad,
you know, let's talk about the big uglies for a
little bit. Let's let's flip it around to your bally Wick, Sir,
to the offensive line, because here's here's where I'm at
now after going back and watching the four games again,
and so much was made about the poor play of

(05:19):
the offensive line in Cleveland for good reason.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
They were terrible, like that's.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
No, we can't you can't sugarcoat it, you can't wish
it away.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
It happened, it's there on tape.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
And they were pretty much, to a dude like bad,
like straight up bad and whipped and just taking advantage
of But I'm here looking at kind of the totality
of the performance of the offensive line, and I don't
think there's a guy, a single dude other than maybe
Zach tom for you know, the short spurt we got

(05:48):
him in that Detroit game in Week one. But man,
there are is not a dude who's really covered himself
in glory so far down in down out and played
to the standard that you would expect. I'm talking Rashid
Walker being really inconsistent. I'm talking even you're stalwart in
Elton Jenkins, who's supposed to be you know this, you know,

(06:08):
cornerstone playing center. He's supposed to elevate we let Josh
Myers go because we want some more consistent play there,
and he's been anything bud. And then you talk about
Jordan Morgan moving up and down the line. Really wish
they could settle on a one spot for this kid.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
And then Aaron Banks.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
I know he was hurt first day of pads in
training camp and probably dealing with the back issue, and
he's been in and out of the lineup, but man,
when he's been in the lineup, it has been anything
but stellar. It's been anything except what you were hoping
in or expecting at the left guard spot. So all
of that is in play here.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
Like I don't I.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Preface this because I want to say, you talk about
getting the best five out there, something we've heard from
LA floor again and again and again. Right, Well, I'm
not sure even with everything I just mentioned, I'm not
sure Sean Ryan still fit if you're talking about your
best five players.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
Sean Ryan has been rough man.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
He has been lough in past pro in particular, and
it has been hard to watch.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
And Neggs, I'm glad you've seen the same thing that
I have because some simple stunts that I think a
lot of people are placing on seventy four, yes, where
seventy five is kind of leaving him out to dry
a bit. And those are those are just issues that
arise throughout the season. But last year he became such
a physical force in the run game that I think
we overlooked a little bit of what he was doing in.

Speaker 6 (07:35):
The past pro game.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
Yeah, and they were so reliant on the run that
less of it showed up. So it's very much a
talking point that they've wanted to find a way to
get Jordan Morgan on the field, and I think last year.

Speaker 6 (07:48):
And in the off season, we're like, damn, what dos
Sean Ryan got to do? We'll continue to get better.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
And when you're not continually getting better, they're going to
be able to point it out and signal it a
lot easier and call to it and get a change
when you're in that position.

Speaker 1 (08:03):
And I do wonder coming off the bye week right now,
you've looked at all the tape and you've kind of
assessed where you're strong, where you're weak, what you have
to change, what you want to try.

Speaker 3 (08:14):
I won't be surprised because Billy.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
Don't forget start of the summer, where was Jordan Morgan
running right guard in rotation with Sean Ryan. You know,
they put him out at left tackle. They talked about
a competition at left tackle that never really materialized until
Walker went down with injury, and he played well at
left tackle. I'm not taking it away from him, but

(08:36):
if we're talking about getting your best five players on
the football field, to me, that's Jordan Morgan taken over
for Sean Ryan at right guard or at least being
in some kind of rotation which we've seen them do
in the.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
Past with this coaching staff, which they like to do.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
They like to do it right.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
I just you can't continue to have multiple plays in
a game blown up because your right guard is overwhelmed, overpowered,
or simply missing easy assignments and stunts, et cetera. It
is I would say, I'm not going to be surprised.
We're not gonna have real clarity on this until they
line up there and warm ups on you know, Sunday afternoon. Yeah,

(09:17):
but I won't be surprised if that's a move they
make because they gotta do something.

Speaker 3 (09:22):
They cannot keep dropping that out there.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
No, And I also think Morgan continues to play well
in an extended opportunity right again, you look at certain
plays in a vacuum.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
The false starts are annoying and they got to be
cleaned up, no question about it, No question that's what
people remember because dude, I'm sure you get an unpackers
ot I get into post game chats, Oh Morgan's terrible,
blah blah blah. I'm like, well, actually, you know, down in,
down out, he's actually getting better as that game I.

Speaker 4 (09:48):
Got, I got last game.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
Naggs was quit doing this, quit lyeing to people he sucks.
When are you ready to say that he's a bust?
And I'm like, I'm just not gonna do that. First off,
that's close. First off, it's really not where I traffic. However,
all of us were able to say Amari Rodgers was
a bust, right.

Speaker 4 (10:08):
Like, this is not that case.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
He's a good football player that's getting more opportunity and
getting better with extended play on the field. And also
for a dude that missed over half of his rookie
year because of multiple injuries, it's just flat out not fair,
Like you have to get an opportunity to play a
full seventeen games before we start putting that B word

(10:31):
on something.

Speaker 4 (10:31):
Well, I mean, yeah, you got it.

Speaker 5 (10:32):
You're not going to say something you don't believe Billy, right,
And I don't too, No, no, no, and and I think, guys,
what made what makes us frustrating for me is that
they I thought that the best they looked was the
second half of the Dallas game. As a UNI are,
especially from a run game, that was the most productive
our run game has been that you could argue is
the best offensive game of the year.

Speaker 4 (10:53):
I mean for the Green Bay Packs.

Speaker 5 (10:56):
As a fan base, you talk about offense so much
in regard to all all encompassing results, and that's why
we're in this soup.

Speaker 3 (11:04):
Of course, you do have to look at the opponent.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
The Dallas defense has is on a historically bad clip
like is it is a bad defense, no question about it.
So you should be marching down the field. You should
be putting up forty points on that defense, like, no
doubt about it. But to your point, yes, they were
productive and they were actually getting better as that game
went along. You could definitely see the cohesion starting to

(11:27):
play in in.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
The second half.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
But man, yeah, it's going to be real interesting to
see what approach they take as far as getting your
best five out there, because again I can only take
you at your word as a coach, and you go
up there and you're not the podium. I want the
best five, best five, best five. Okay, right now, Sean
Ryan is not one of your best five.

Speaker 4 (11:45):
No, it's is not the truth, not the case.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
No, no amount of film or metrics or anything you
want to look at will tell you that he's one
of your best five offensive linemen. And if you want
to keep Jordan Love upright, want to keep producing and
putting up points, you got to get your best five
guys out there. So that's something I'll be looking for.

Speaker 6 (12:03):
Yeah, and I'm excited. I'm excited to see how they
do it.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
And I'm also excited to see how quickly it is
and who's first to the race to put it out
online first.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
That's what are you talking about?

Speaker 1 (12:13):
Like you don't like it when you know the guys
there in the press box are looking at the warm
ups and then you get like ten tweets in a
row that, uh, Jordan Morgan's at right guard, Jordan Morgan
at redcard, Jordan Morgan's at right guard, Jordan Morgan at
right guard.

Speaker 5 (12:28):
Like you know, it is kind of funny. It is
kind of funny to see that. But then you think
to yourself, like, oh, they all I feel like they
have to do it.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
You know that I'm not that one. I'm not doing
their job unless they tell you.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
Yeah, the one of call overturned, right, like okay, right,
we are all watching we.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
Now, now, now, now now.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
Sometimes that occurs during a commercial break, and you know,
I come, I look at the Twitter, and I'm just
because I'm.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
Heated because it's a terrible call.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
And then I see on the Twitter call overturn, and
then I, you know, my blood gets you know, thinned doubt,
I get toned down a little bit, and I gus
start stop like attacking the pillows and cursing people out,
and I can just chill.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
So that one's not as bad as Emmanuel Wilson gains
three first down.

Speaker 3 (13:14):
See that's ridiculous. Now we're now we're so.

Speaker 5 (13:17):
Are you saying live tweeting these things? There is a
thing of the past, because for a while, that was it, right,
that was the thing.

Speaker 3 (13:22):
Right, That's a big thing. I do think, especially for
a beat writer, I understand it. It's your job. You're
you're the information of the game.

Speaker 1 (13:30):
Is part of your kind of you know, job requirement,
and not everyone can watch the game or even listen
to it. Sometimes people are checking Twitter reading find out
what's happening. You know so, but it is kind of
funny when you do get like the heads it's tails
and you get one hundred tweets the Packers have won

(13:51):
the toss.

Speaker 4 (13:52):
Thanks, guys, thank you appreciate it, guys appreciate Well.

Speaker 5 (13:55):
There is a thing, there's a thing in journalism you
feel like you are on record, always like this is
the paper of record. And now we've transferred that to
our social media platform where every journalist things sit there
their newspaper of records, tweets being in the museum in Washington,
these are all going, all these tweets going to the
Library of Congress.

Speaker 3 (14:13):
Don't forget it. This is tweets of record.

Speaker 5 (14:17):
I think it's also I think it's I think you
maybe had that instinct sometimes in that role.

Speaker 4 (14:23):
Of course, I got it. I gotta tell the information
to the.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
People, absolutely, you know.

Speaker 1 (14:29):
I want to give it another shout out to Mike,
who's got a great question, Mike, great question from Mike.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
What's going to feel better? Potentially?

Speaker 1 (14:36):
Brewers sending Council home, or the Packers destroying Big Mike
in Dallas in twenty twenty three wildcard playoff game.

Speaker 4 (14:43):
I'll let you guys answer first.

Speaker 3 (14:44):
I'm pretty sure it wasn't that a divisional game. I'm
i'm a little the.

Speaker 4 (14:49):
Wildcard round wildcard, it's easy for me.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
The council one would be a much different one than
which Mike Listen, Mike McCarthy was fired, right like one
chose to leave, one was told to leave. One one
a championship one. One checks notes what seven playoff games
and nine so like, I don't know that it's all

(15:19):
that close.

Speaker 4 (15:19):
It would absolutely be counsel.

Speaker 2 (15:22):
Also the fact that Mike McCarthy doesn't give nearly the
kind of enjoyable theater on television when he's going through
it like Council taking the hat off and the hair
is going on to a mess.

Speaker 6 (15:34):
The in the slow motion of the list lapping back in.

Speaker 3 (15:40):
The longest time, if you like searched his name in Twitter,
that's what would.

Speaker 6 (15:46):
So it's absolutely counsel.

Speaker 4 (15:47):
Absolutely, there's no comparison.

Speaker 3 (15:49):
I mean, are you kidding me?

Speaker 4 (15:50):
Big Mike has much more equity than con.

Speaker 3 (15:53):
I respect the hell out of Mike too brought championship.
How you not love the man?

Speaker 4 (15:56):
No comparison.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
I also think this group, this three is a tough
case study for that one, because I think I don't
know Nags.

Speaker 6 (16:05):
Maybe I'm wrong.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
I think we all have a very big affinity for
Mike McCarthy right, like as a big.

Speaker 1 (16:10):
Time no further than his return when they honored the
Super Bowl's team at halftime in Week one. That pop,
that the that the crowd had when Mike walked out,
that was so great.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
Even when he walked out, even when he walked out
with the trench coat, the Lombardi trench coat, and he
came back with Dallas the first time.

Speaker 5 (16:29):
I didn't hear any venom in those stands. No, I'm
with you, billy, I don't go with you, abillity. Let's
just think of it this way. You know how we
are around here. We love one of us. We love
guys that were provincial, We like people that are home here.
Big Mike is an outsider that made this his home,
continues to make this his home. And Craig Counsel is
a guy that grew up here, that did it well.
He technically still makes this his home, but chose to

(16:51):
go somewhere else. So I think that's enough for most people.
That just that right there, big time. And here's the
other thing too.

Speaker 1 (16:59):
There is little doubt in my mind that Counsel bless
him when he was the manager of the Brewers, put
everything into it, right, his heart, his soul, his history
with the team.

Speaker 3 (17:10):
No, you can't question that.

Speaker 1 (17:12):
But to your point, Billy, the choice was made by you.

Speaker 4 (17:16):
You were there, you weren't.

Speaker 1 (17:17):
Summarily dismissed, you weren't pushed out the door.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
You made that choice and stole a man's job to
do it.

Speaker 4 (17:26):
It's a good point.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
I mean, like there was a man that was properly
hired and not being fired before you decided to say,
excuse me, I would like that job. I am the
captain now. So now you get your ass swept. That's
what you get.

Speaker 4 (17:41):
That's what you get, and I'm just what you get.
And I'm going to tell you right now.

Speaker 2 (17:45):
Eighth five tomorrow morning, at the Amtrak station downtown Milwaukee,
the Brewer's Express is leaving and heading down to Wrigley
and it's coming back with another dub. It's coming back
with the l flag flying high, and they're sweeping the
boys up out of this.

Speaker 3 (18:01):
I have waited. I have waited on the L flag.

Speaker 1 (18:04):
I've seen people putting the L flag after these last
two games, and I.

Speaker 3 (18:07):
Get it, but I'm waiting. Oh when they sweep them
and then you fly to the L flag. Oh oh.

Speaker 2 (18:16):
It's to the point where I desperately want to find
a way to go to the game tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (18:20):
And I want to have that flag because I want to.

Speaker 2 (18:23):
Have the shirt on and I'm gonna say this, I'm
gonna have it underneath the Brewers jersey and then like Superman,
just exposing the cape after the game, just walk around
and see who's ready to who's ready to smile at.

Speaker 3 (18:35):
Me, who's ready to party?

Speaker 6 (18:37):
What are you trying to show me?

Speaker 4 (18:39):
My else?

Speaker 3 (18:39):
So good?

Speaker 5 (18:41):
Imagine the imagine the amount of stories that are going
to be being told on that train tomorrow, telling stories.

Speaker 6 (18:47):
How many people on that train are gonna have that
at the ice.

Speaker 5 (18:50):
Bowling on them ice bowl, just telling stories about somebody.

Speaker 4 (18:55):
They knew that neew one of the players, or we
used to drink one of the guys.

Speaker 1 (18:59):
I'm just remind me though, of the old school, like
you know train trips that people from Green Bay would
make to Chicago during the kind of Papa Bear days,
you know, yeah, totally, the Lumberjack band and all of
that that was, you know, was some glory taste.

Speaker 5 (19:15):
That's people had to travel before, you know, commercial airlines
were like prevalent, right, people had to travel by train.

Speaker 3 (19:22):
This game tomorrow, My mind's all messed up. This game,
the game tomorrow?

Speaker 2 (19:26):
Is it?

Speaker 3 (19:26):
What time?

Speaker 6 (19:26):
The four American?

Speaker 3 (19:30):
No?

Speaker 6 (19:31):
Five, five Americans four Central? Yeah, got it, five American
four Cornfield.

Speaker 1 (19:36):
So we'll be doing packer transplants live just as this
thing kicks off, which is fine, Which is fine.

Speaker 3 (19:41):
I'll just have it on the corner for.

Speaker 2 (19:43):
What kind of Brewers fan is banky like whenever the
whenever the drinks start flowing, then he goes, let's go.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
Crow that kind of like you know, he he'll he'll
pay attention every once in a while. But I'll tell
you what's so funny is you know what he hates.
He hates with every fiber of his being is the
Champagne celeb rations every series into the postseason, like he
loathes that, which, man, it doesn't bug me, but I

(20:09):
get why it might bug somebody.

Speaker 4 (20:10):
But there's a deeper conversation there.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
You know, yes, I.

Speaker 2 (20:14):
Got Well, just let him know that I got some
Brewers batting gloves that I think that I want.

Speaker 3 (20:19):
There you go, come on now.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
As long as he can rock those, that will be
that'll be the winner.

Speaker 3 (20:24):
That would be the Corey way. I like it. I'm
all in on this. I love it.

Speaker 1 (20:27):
I'm all in on Kry the G Radio getting on
the other side. We're gonna talk some more Packers, Bengals
and you know, Packers in the Greater NFL ecosphere because
you know, as we were saying, there ain't no dominant
team none the Bills. How the Bills look the other night,
m Oh, they ain't undefeated anymore. How the Eagles look
the other day, they ain't undefeated anymore. Like everybody can

(20:48):
get got let's go Packers about to go on a run.
We're about to listen to some folks tell you about
all sorts of stuff and then the flip. We've been
talking with Billy and Armin and Aaron in ninety seven
point three the game and the.

Speaker 7 (21:01):
G Radio.

Speaker 1 (21:04):
Boys. This is fun. This is always a great time
because you know we are We've talked a lot about
Joe Flacco, talked a lot about what the Packers got
to do. There's all sorts of different kind of machinations
lining up for this showdown between the Packers and the Bengals.
But what we have not talked about is that what
should be the headliner here? This is a TJ. Slayton

(21:25):
and Oran Burke's revenge game.

Speaker 6 (21:28):
Oron Burke's still getting a check.

Speaker 2 (21:30):
I mean, like you start going through the laundry list
of different NFL player and former Packer third round picks,
like my man has made a nice career after a
lot of people out of Vandy were like this team
he played well.

Speaker 3 (21:42):
He played well.

Speaker 5 (21:45):
I'd say, yeah, Billy sounded like you weren't. You weren't
saying deservedly or you think it's deservedly so.

Speaker 6 (21:50):
Well, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (21:51):
From when I watched him in Green Bay, there was
not a lot of me thinking seven year NFL pro right.

Speaker 6 (21:57):
But again, you get you can get better.

Speaker 4 (22:00):
In this game.

Speaker 2 (22:00):
It's a crazy idea, I know, because the first time
you see somebody on a football field, you're like, well,
that's it, that's who he is.

Speaker 6 (22:08):
You can get better, you can go up and you
can go down.

Speaker 2 (22:10):
There's also been guys that I thought were can't miss players,
amazing players, and then all of a sudden three years later,
you're like, there's no reason why I would hand Leonard
Fournette the football here in.

Speaker 6 (22:20):
Twenty twenty five.

Speaker 2 (22:21):
So that's it goes up and down, it goes in
different stretches, but out TJ. Slayton is one that I
saw a lot of Viking fans when they were getting
ready to take on the Cincinnati Bengals again fresh off
the Burrow injury. That team was an absolute shell of
itself that went to the US Bank and just got slacked.
But people were like, well, TJ. Slayton, nobody really wanted him.

(22:44):
I would disagree. I thought he was one of the
more coveted run stuffers in the agency this year.

Speaker 3 (22:49):
You know what you get, you know you get when
you put TJ. Slaton on the field. No, you're not
going to get a ton.

Speaker 1 (22:54):
Of pass rush that we all know this, but he's
pretty decent at holding up against the run is his game.
The Oron Burks thing is hilarious though, because he you know,
it was the one kind of packer angle at the
Super Bowl during media Day.

Speaker 4 (23:09):
Yeah, he tried.

Speaker 1 (23:09):
She's a TV We tried to have some fun with
him with the Packers. Orm was not about that life
in any way.

Speaker 4 (23:18):
Ship, but you got to give it a shot.

Speaker 3 (23:19):
Yeah, of course naturally.

Speaker 2 (23:21):
So has that been your That's been what you've You've
always tried to do on the media night, because when
Armand and I were there, we were just trying to, like,
you know, figure out what we were doing with our
hands and like not to strange, like taking a picture
with Ocho Cinco, like sweet, oh Andy Agar's here, Hey,
you talk Packers?

Speaker 3 (23:36):
What's going on?

Speaker 2 (23:37):
And then it was like, uh, Nick Bolton's talking about steak?

Speaker 6 (23:42):
Hey, how you cooking?

Speaker 1 (23:43):
That?

Speaker 2 (23:43):
Is that like a cast iron? You going smoker? Grill
cast iron?

Speaker 4 (23:47):
It was a smoker and let's go that's interesting stuff.

Speaker 1 (23:50):
Who's the linebacker? Their linebacker went to school somewhere in Wisconsin.

Speaker 5 (23:53):
I can't remember that, Zach Bond Billy Billy asked them
what it was like rolling up on Witnell?

Speaker 4 (24:00):
What was your question?

Speaker 1 (24:01):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (24:01):
How did it feel?

Speaker 2 (24:02):
And did did you really think it was necessary to
score that many touchdowns against the Witnell and decapitated player?

Speaker 4 (24:07):
You love that maybe it was just the worst Witnel
team of all time. You didn't have to do that
to those guys. You did not have to do that
to the alma mater. That was rude.

Speaker 6 (24:15):
However, you know, but you can, you can find an opportunity.
He was sitting right there on a platter.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
He knocked it out of the park, albeit a much
better response and a smarter play than the one he
had this week that ultimately cost his team potentially the
football game. Uh in the unnecessary roughness diving on the pile.

Speaker 1 (24:33):
God, that was such a dumb play. And I think
he's a great player. I mean, he's a smart player.
But man, and I saw so many people saying, well,
it's a week call, and it is a week call.

Speaker 3 (24:43):
Don't give them the opportunity to make said weak call.

Speaker 4 (24:46):
Two things literally on the ground.

Speaker 1 (24:49):
Why are you jumping on top of his head like
dumb dumb play on fourth down?

Speaker 2 (24:55):
Mind you on four and like I got the I do,
he's he's within like two steps. But when my man's
knee goes down and the whistle gets hurt, you gotta
find a way to go over upon at.

Speaker 3 (25:07):
Least or go around him, don't fall on his head.
I just don't know what you're expecting.

Speaker 2 (25:14):
As somebody that had Eagles money line. I was trying
to find any possible way to say that that stuff
was rigged. I was like, you've got to be kidding me.
He's within one step. What is he supposed to do? However,
there's one thing that you clearly can do. Don't just
put all body weight on the you know, I think
that's the ad neck area. I think that's the C
four C five area right there in the neck. That's

(25:34):
probably the best.

Speaker 1 (25:34):
Ways where Eagles fans would have had a complaint and
should have a complaint.

Speaker 3 (25:41):
Is a couple of plays prior to that.

Speaker 1 (25:43):
The monstrosity, and this is league wide. Now, this is
now a thing that I've seen occur at.

Speaker 7 (25:50):
Least three different times in the NFL weekends. Is a
blatant and I am talking blatant intentional grounding from the
quarterback who legit just throws the ball at the ground.
No talk about intentional putting the ball in the ground,

(26:13):
Yet no flag because of some imaginary receiver in the air.

Speaker 1 (26:17):
Well, there's a receiver in the area. In the receiver
in what area.

Speaker 4 (26:21):
The width of the football field.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
You know, what are we talking about?

Speaker 1 (26:26):
We saw, of course this happened at the end of
the Packers game with the absolutely absurd non call where oh.

Speaker 7 (26:34):
It's slipped out of his hands, he's throwing it into
the ground to avoid getting sacked.

Speaker 3 (26:40):
Why even have the rule a.

Speaker 4 (26:45):
Petition committed? Actually look at that stuff.

Speaker 5 (26:49):
Instead of instead of emphasizing donations and things like that,
how about you define these nebulous terms such as in
the area can we.

Speaker 3 (26:57):
Least point of emphasis? Point of emphasis is giving.

Speaker 1 (27:01):
The quarterback any and all calls at all times?

Speaker 2 (27:04):
Well, and I wonder if that is a part of
a conversation, a larger conversation that's that's going to happen
where it could be, Hey, we do have every single
one of these rules favor the offense. Maybe this is
one in which you can combat it a little bit
and then put more of the onus on the quarterback

(27:24):
to protect himself, because hey, we're not gonna bail you
out with a no unnecessary roughness at this point. You're
gonna get down and you're gonna do it safely and
he's not gonna land on you, and you're not gonna,
you know, crack a rib here. But in a spot
where they're taking full advantage of having as much protection
as possible. This could be the one where you protect
the defensive players a tick while it.

Speaker 4 (27:46):
Actually got but naggs. I think at the end of
the day, it.

Speaker 6 (27:49):
Can also protect a quarterback right because it gives.

Speaker 3 (27:52):
You, sure, it should give you less.

Speaker 2 (27:53):
Of a thought of I can take this to the
last possible moment before getting slung down and land on
my thrown shoulder.

Speaker 1 (28:01):
Yeah, which again stuff we saw over the course of
this last week. But yeah, that you talk about clearly, Clearly,
this gets under my skin. This is one of the
things that, look, you've given quarterbacks every bit of leeway,
every opportunity, every advantage. I mean, I can't imagine being
one of these old head quarterbacks like a Dan Marino

(28:24):
looking at the game today, or even John Elway. You
know it was stayed with the game as a personnel,
folk person for a long time, et cetera. But I
can't imagine how these older, olding, old quarterbacks look at
the game now and go I would throw them for
five thousand yards out of thrown for eight thousand yards.
The rules they have today, the way they can't breathe
on the quarterback, A.

Speaker 5 (28:44):
Lot of Scotti Pippot energy there are Yeah, not to
mention what the money the guys are making now, But yeah,
a lot of old what like yeah, NBA nineties and
two thousands, NBA X player energy. That's a lot of
Charles Oakley in there. Listen if Dan Yeah, I'll say this,

(29:04):
Dan Marino would have been having a time.

Speaker 2 (29:07):
Could you imagine how he would have been throwing the
ball and what he'd be doing on the outside with Reya.

Speaker 4 (29:14):
I mean that outside.

Speaker 2 (29:16):
I thought you meant people outside the hash marks, you know,
I'm talking about outside the building.

Speaker 4 (29:21):
The building.

Speaker 2 (29:21):
My man had himself enough fun in the eighties.

Speaker 4 (29:24):
Yes, I gotta imagine he's a good time though.

Speaker 6 (29:28):
He had a very very good time.

Speaker 4 (29:30):
He would have been having a very very good time.

Speaker 3 (29:32):
In the twenties. Yeah, hanging out in Miami with.

Speaker 2 (29:34):
That, with that had a hair, Yeah, he was doing good. Also,
that's the one interest rights. One part that's uh, that's
kind of garbage about actually the Miami Dolphins, is that
they could have Dan Marino in that building all the time,
all the time we're doing hard knocks last year, you
got to see.

Speaker 4 (29:49):
He's he's uncle Dan. He's just hanging out.

Speaker 2 (29:51):
He's like, yeah, I'm Dan Marino, So I can kind
of do whatever I want in here. I own this place.
I am the captain. Now I'm gonna do it.

Speaker 1 (29:59):
None of this is at me like I am just
the same thing called walking into Lambeau. I mean it's
not you know, are of course please, we're not gonna
have this conversation, sir, the Brett Farve, Brett Farv, Brett,
Lorenzo Man, Lambeau as we know it, the Packers as

(30:20):
we know them, none of it exists as it presently
does without Brett Farr.

Speaker 6 (30:25):
Oh like yes, no, no, that that I'm not arguing.

Speaker 2 (30:28):
I I didn't know if like right now, the way
he's got like front of he just walks in, He's like, hey, fellas,
what's going on?

Speaker 4 (30:33):
And that was.

Speaker 2 (30:34):
My like he gets oh holy holy holy, hold on,
Brett's here, Brett's here, get him in office, get everybody,
like I didn't know if that.

Speaker 4 (30:42):
Was the case. I don't know that's gonna happen.

Speaker 2 (30:44):
So now the star if while he rest in peace,
like if he was still with us, he would be
getting he'd be getting the Nick Saban treatment where they
would still have his own office build the exact same
way that he would like it, and he would get
the suite and every single time something would happen in
the game and look back up.

Speaker 6 (31:01):
See what bart thought?

Speaker 3 (31:02):
What's he doing right back time? How does he react?

Speaker 6 (31:04):
Bad throw by the quarterback?

Speaker 1 (31:05):
See what he's see what what's the goat?

Speaker 5 (31:09):
Imagine he's just sitting in that office, still washing tape,
still looking up.

Speaker 4 (31:13):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (31:14):
Yeah, but you know what, they don't all have all
the Isotona gloves they want like they're doing gloves.

Speaker 2 (31:21):
Give it to you by Dan Marino, wrapped by Dan Marino,
probably wearing Isotna gloves with.

Speaker 4 (31:26):
The same that teal and purple color from the nineties.
But I gotta say that's still the oddest endorsement ever.
He talking about Miami, talking about the hottest place in
the country. You're giving out cold.

Speaker 1 (31:36):
On the road.

Speaker 3 (31:37):
They got to play in Buffalo, Yeah, alright there.

Speaker 4 (31:40):
They go to the meadowlands and do that Fakespike in
New York.

Speaker 3 (31:44):
Right, what a great moment? Do you guys? Ever just
go back and watch those old games. Yes, I do.

Speaker 1 (31:48):
Summer all Madden call and just like have Madden circle
in a bucket on the side. You got the father bucket,
you got the Mother bucket and together they had a
baby bucket.

Speaker 4 (32:00):
Billionis I feel seen? I feel seen.

Speaker 2 (32:03):
You feel so seen right now, right here, I'm telling you.

Speaker 1 (32:06):
You go on those YouTube like rabbit Holes is a life,
That is my life.

Speaker 2 (32:12):
People think that Chris collins Worth loves Pat Mahomes too much.
I just would love to know what they were watching
in the nineties when when when watching Brad, yeah you
know where my vote's going? And it always seemed like
was it Bill Moss or who was that was?

Speaker 4 (32:27):
Like the one when he was an analyst when we
got that was it Moss?

Speaker 3 (32:34):
I'm not maybe, yeah, somebody exactly?

Speaker 1 (32:36):
And he his whole vocal inflection, every all his mannerisms
like he tried to be Madden, which makes sense.

Speaker 3 (32:42):
Man, he was the gold standard, right.

Speaker 5 (32:44):
I wonder were we see like the analysis was a
little more rudimentary because I think regular fans didn't have
as much access.

Speaker 6 (32:51):
Bill former Rookie of the Year. Wow, this guy was
a study.

Speaker 5 (32:54):
It was.

Speaker 4 (32:54):
It was a decent Yeah.

Speaker 1 (32:56):
The best analysts are the best color analysts on TV
always do a great job of giving you the story
and the narrative, but also teaching you a thing or
two about the game.

Speaker 2 (33:06):
M hm.

Speaker 3 (33:07):
And it just feels now that so much of it
is man.

Speaker 1 (33:10):
They all have media training and they're all taught, taught
how they're supposed to deliver the information rather than.

Speaker 3 (33:16):
Just being themselves.

Speaker 4 (33:17):
That's what made Madden.

Speaker 1 (33:18):
Great, That's what made mosqu great, That's what makes all
the great color commentators great, because they do have this
inherent ability to communicate in their own way. But now
they go to NFL films here on in Jersey and
they have a whole They literally have something called broadcast
boot camp or.

Speaker 3 (33:35):
They podcast emmer you into a way of working.

Speaker 2 (33:38):
Well, and then you know you can still be great
at it if you allow yourself to go outside the
lines and blur the lines a little bit, like Greg Olsen. Yeah,
Or then you're just like he's so good, and then
you're like, I'm just gonna drive in my complete own
lane and I don't care if anybody can understand what
I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (33:51):
You're Tony Romo and you're just like.

Speaker 1 (33:58):
I see you talk about a guy who's really good
for the jump and then just lost his fence ball.

Speaker 4 (34:02):
Yeah, and if.

Speaker 1 (34:04):
Tough stuff, he's okay, he's in offensive great as he
used to be that's for sure. You know what is
as great as it always is is talking Packers and
everything NFL with Arman with Billy Hearing carry the G
