Speaker 1 (00:03):
Carry the g Radio hour two coming at you with
Bill Armon and Aaron and you know, just hearing that
little snippet there, a little little tailgating, you know what's
so so depressing. No more tailgating at lambeau Field until
twenty twenty six. Man, you know, I think I wanted
(00:26):
that home playoff game more than I wanted anything else.
Like I wanted one more game at lambeau Field, just
to take a that next step as far as okay,
we're always coming in at seventh seed, but just that vibe,
the great atmosphere around Lambeau just being now put on
(00:46):
the shelf until I guess training camp. Yeah, be out
there in the blazing sun. That's always sad for me, Billy.
I'm I'm, I'm always a little despondent when that happens.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
Yeah, it's true.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
Is a crushing reality of it that that that's the
last time you're gonna watch the game there for almost
ten months. But also two naggs and like I'm the
media starts with me.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
Thing.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
I love seeing the I love seeing the paint on
the field of wild card or division like that to me,
like even though like the walking line and the energy
and the tailgates of that that is always good. But
to see those that little paint on a Lambeau playing
surface that otherwise doesn't get dropped with the play sixty
(01:36):
logo in the corner, you know they're not dropping any
advertisement on the twenty five, right, Yeah, But when you
throw that playoff logo there on the side, right there
on the twenty five grand lines, that is so so
sweet and sucks that we're gonna have to wait for
another year to be able to see that at Lambeau.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
Getting back to some super chats here, because boy, how
do you we gotta flow them? Come on now, Mike
saying someone of the packers are organization needs to have
a conversation with twenty five and let him know you
are a returner not a cornerback one. If he disagrees,
and it's time to go another way, get my conversations.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
Here we go with the conversation.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
Conversations. Gotta have those conversations. I mean, I don't suspect
if they were gonna have that conversation they would have
had it last offseason, but they didn't. I don't think
they're going to and I don't think, you know, barring
some kind of car wreck, fire, train wreck, what have you?
That we're gonna see him back on returns anytime soon.
(02:31):
I just if they were gonna do it, if they
were desperate enough for it, they would have done it
by now. Instead we're watching bow Melton run into the
back of his blockers.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
Yeah, and uh, you know, I did see somebody saying,
like the Packers haven't had a really dynamic returner since
Desmond Howard. Malkishah Nixon was prettydamn good at it.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
Kishah Nixon literally is tied with Desmond Howard for most
returns for touchdowns in franchise history for along with Will
black One.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
And it's just like, man, I like, I was waiting
for the years of Antonio chatman Like, I'm like, you
just get somebody else runs away out rost it runs
away from everybody like that.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
That to me is then the crazy part of it.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
But also there was you know, and this is all
hindsight twenty twenty, but you take a gotcha return man
kind of specialist, uh, second wide receiver twelve picks ahead
of Jim ray DK who's the first team All Pro
return man on the AFC.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
Side, And you know he's a Wisconsin kid.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
So like it's there's there's misses like the obvious ones
if that's what you were looking for, and save on Williams,
there's obviously hopefully more plans for him. But when you're
you know, a scratch, uh and and we're having that
return Ill, no, not taking this one, I'm saying, but
going like you know, going forward, if that's his case
as the return man, it's gonna be the difficult beast.
(03:49):
The other scratch would be more of Matthew Golden, who
I did I did find was very very fun to see.
I think it was now it might have just been
one of the aggregator accounts on instance that put out
somebody's tweet but put out the schefter tweet of Packers
are planning on resting key players, and there was a
picture of Matthew Golden on there like well, they've been
resting him for eighteen weeks, so.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
Now he was out on the field.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
He was there, he was there, he.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
Was got snaps plenty of them, just not ever ever,
and I mean ever part of the progression apparently, or
you know, number one in the progression in any way,
shape or form. That's like killing me man it's killing me.
They got this guy running clear out routes, they got
him running dummy stuff, they got him going in motion.
He did have them have a catcher, to which one,
(04:35):
let's got a first almost as I mean, look at this,
and they targeted him up the left sideline, balls out
of bounds. That's not his fault, et cetera. But Mike
also says, watch in a meaningless game Sunday, Golden will
have one hundred and thirty yards and two teeth.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
I mean, I'd be happy to see that. I mean
his meaning, not meaning.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
Throwing one thirty and two tunnies to Matthew Golden.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
Let's go and name that hitting a gritty tune. I
don't know you're really trying with the tune jokes you
might want to do. You might want to bury those.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
I'm not going to be coming. I'm not going to
make it. Tune out. Listen.
Speaker 4 (05:16):
My thing is is it meaningless or not? I mean
everyone's saying it is meaning So I have another question,
really quick to circle. What would the conversation do? I mean,
you're not a cornerback one? What does that mean that
you're not going to play cornerback one? Is the Packers
better option at cornerback right now. I'm sorry there are
(05:36):
out there like you don't have all pro cornerbacks sitting
on the practice squad like I don't think. So you
try to do the best you can at every position.
Keishaan Nixon has played his way into that top cornerback role.
I thought he's been fine most of the year. I
don't know what they think. Go in another direction, So
sign more guys, draft more guys. Just catching off It
doesn't But what's the conversation you're just trying to He
(05:58):
might not be happy with what you have, but you
got guys what you have.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
That's my own point.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
So no, I feel you, but it is. It is
an off season conversation, no question about it. And to
your point, who else do they have throughout there?
Speaker 2 (06:09):
I don't like.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
It's kind of like the wide receiver one. Thing like
cornerback one. He doesn't follow their best guy. No, it's
not like they play a ton of man. He's the
left corner, correct, Harrington is the right corner. That's it,
left right. That's how they line up like the majority
of the time, not every single down obviously, but he's
their left corner and does he get taken advantage of
(06:31):
at times. Yep, no question about it. But he's their
left corner and that's just how they're operating in twenty
twenty five.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
Yeah, and I think we do get We do get
so hell bent on the number because it's a it's
a clickbait cliche deal of LA.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
Well that was this QB one.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
That's CB one, Like you said, Okay, so he's the
first guy, he's the one that's going to be taking
the snaps. No, we understand that.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
And and again, if there was an opportunity to address it,
and in the middle of the season they would have,
they didn't, so they'll they'll go into the offseason and
know that they need to get better there. We had
our first caller say, well, I think they need to
draft an interior defensive lineman with the pick of fifty
two to forty eight, whichever it falls there they might
need to trade up to thirty eight to get.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
One of the top three.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
Going like, listen, I'm not there right now. I appreciate
that we all are. I appreciate that you are.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
They have been.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
Looking at it and know that the know that they
need to get better there, right That is not a game,
a breaking news sounder that's rolling through the hallways of
twelve sixty five.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
I will say this, that's funny you bring that up,
because this is a conversation that Corey were having. Corey
and I were having on the watch party on Saturday
night because they were getting run over, right, and they
were getting manhandled up front. And if you remember on
this year program last week, I set the interior defensive
line all of the defensive tackles needed to raise their game.
They certainly did not. And then someone chimed in on
(07:56):
the chat reasonably. You know, I'm not saying this is
like out of the realm of craziness or anything like that,
but well, you know they should have drafted a defensive
tackle this last draft. Well, yeah, they had the opportunity
to do so. And this is the frustration where Billy,
you know, you said it in the first segment, this
was a historically stacked, deep, talented defensive tackle class. We
(08:20):
talked about it all kind of months leading up to
the draft, right, the Packers didn't. They went another way.
They drafted two receivers, one who they've given the ball
to on some kind of end a round trick play
type stuff, and another one for the first time ever
in a million years in the first round who they've ignored. Now.
I understand it's long term investment, right, that is the
(08:42):
whole packer's way. But I understand fans getting a little
frustrated when you had the opportunity to add in a again,
very deep class and you completely said no, no, we're good,
and we're gonna take these two guys instead, and we're
not gonna use them right now. Now, maybe down the
line they become really important pieces on offense, let's hope. So,
(09:04):
but for this season, I can understand the frustration. I
get it, and you're right, it is hindsight. It is
like looking back and you didn't count on DeVante why
going down? You didn't count on Michael Parsons going down.
I understand that. But this where this philosophy can maybe
trip you up sometimes is when you are we're making
(09:24):
a five year investment. Well that's great, but this year
it's biting you, and it's bit them.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
It has and nags.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
I think the other part of it is, like you mentioned,
you didn't pate DeVante why going down? You didn't anticipate
Micah Parsons going down. Well at that point, you you
probably didn't anticipate Mike Parsons on the team. Uh, and
you you have Kenny Clark draft right and like so
they so maybe you had the way things come up
and in the way opportunities present themselves. You know, you
have to be able to take in the you know,
(09:56):
take those blows to your roster. And I saw you
your piece on on like the depth the team. I
think the depth's pretty good. Actually, I do still think
it's one of the deeper teams that they've seen. It's
been it's been really questioned because of the top end
players that they've lost from the roster. Like, you lose
a certain amount of those guys, you're always going to
have trouble being able to overcome it. But when it
(10:19):
is a spot where you could have easily predicted, Hey man,
Colby Wooden and Carl Brooks are nice players, but are
if we're talking about investments, are we gonna invest on
them in a year or are we gonna be then
looking for young players to come in here, because then
maybe we draft somebody now instead of a rookie coming
(10:39):
in from Bowling Green or Auburn that we're asking to
play significant snaps because that's very likely what you're asking
going into next year, because I don't think you're gonna
keep all of them, and the loss of like a TJ.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
Slayton.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
Could you have been able to pay him, Probably not,
But you're really feeling the effects of the guys that
you did start to develop, that you did did see
real progress from leaving. You just haven't been able to
backfill them with with significant players like a Stackhouse or
a Brinston that you thought you want to be able
to play with.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
Stackhouse is an interesting one too, because it certainly looked
like this summer that he had a shot at contributing right,
but he's been a healthy scratch for a number of
weeks now, and after they got picked up Bohana and Riley,
who also now is down, so you gotta think they'll
probably be playing Stackhouse that has really will.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
Yeah, maybe somebody in there.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
They got to have somebodies out there. Look all practice
squad lineup on Saturday on Sunday. I can't wait. I'm
all for it.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
Nobody called Tyler Lancaster. I didn't voke his name as Yeah,
you had to drop hi.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
Wow, he's just sitting himself a phenomenal couple of days
after Boxing Day because he's probably might be hanging on
Canada somewhere now. But like you just you have different
guys that you thought you were going to see development
from and you just you flat out have it. And
I also think nags that with the state of where
you're at going forward, defensively, you are gonna have to
(12:03):
hit on a couple of these cats. So I was
excited to see even more Colin Oliver love day after Christmas.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
I mean, I don't know how many people got.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
A sick Packers hoodie or a Packers jersey or a
pullover for Christmas, but I'm telling you online, it felt
like the greatest Christmas present Green Bay Packers related anybody
had ever gotten. Was the fact that Colin Oliver was activated.
The excitement was insane.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
It was we had sound sound lord.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
Oh and the fact that his teammates call him baby Micah. Wow,
you throw that into the mix. Just just sharks are
swimming baby.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
Bottoms of tables being rattled everywhere across Packers fandom.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
It was it was hot. It was hot.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
That is so good of sticking with the questions online,
we got Rody saying hasn't been perfect, but does Sean
Ryan stay in twenty twenty six? See, these are the
questions we get now now where everyone's looking to the offseason,
which I get still games to be played, people, but
I get it. I understand the thinking here. I understand
the question. Oh yeah, I suspect Sean Ryan is gonna
(13:20):
hit free agency. I'd be surprised if they kept him
in the fold. And I don't think to your point, Yeah,
I know he hasn't been perfect, but they've certainly solidified
the interior of the line with him in there. They've
certainly found a way of working with him. Now, unfortunate
snap that caused a turnover on this past game, etc.
But I think he's done what they've asked of him,
(13:41):
and certainly you thank him for his service. But I'd
be surprised if they offered him a contract. Billy.
Speaker 3 (13:48):
Yeah, and listen, I was I said last year that
I would be surprised if Josh Myers.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
Didn't get a big money deal. He didn't.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
Now he did get re upped with the team that
he signed with because he's been starting and playing well.
Even though they're him is in contention for the number
one overall pick.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (14:04):
But like, I don't I think Sean Ryan's okay, I
don't think that they see him as a as a
pillar of the team.
Speaker 1 (14:13):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (14:13):
And I think more than anything, I would point to
the response to the snap off of the face mask,
where when Matt was asked about it, he said he
went out of his way multiple times to say, we're
not even into the cadence.
Speaker 2 (14:27):
We haven't even started the cadence. Like, I don't know
what we're doing. I don't know what. But no, that's
something we don't know what you heard I did?
Speaker 3 (14:36):
Uh, Arman would be happy yet, I gotta I gotta
set of binoculars for Christmas.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
So let's go.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
So I had opened the press box Withoul. We had
big Banknock energy, even we were the travel size, but
we had some Banknock energy up in the press box. Uh.
Next was a rather one way conversation that was being
had between Luke Butkus and Sean Ryan during that during
(15:01):
that television time out. And I believe there's two minutes
and twenty seconds during the television timeout.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
And you was still talking to him. When they came back.
Speaker 2 (15:08):
He maybe took four breaths.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
And Luke bucket is a big man, like he was
letting him have it during the time out. That and
the you know, everybody knows how many snaps you need
to be able to hit certain incentives. There was a
a couple of games missed because of a PD thing
like he's I would I would be surprised if Sean Ryan's.
Speaker 4 (15:33):
The thing is, I got to know more at some
point about this because Billy used to make fun of
us the binoculars to.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
Make for him. Billy needs it. He came and handed
in that.
Speaker 1 (15:42):
Billy, Yeah, he just he just go Yeah, happened to us.
Speaker 3 (15:48):
I wanted to see Tyler Lindabaum throwing guys around him
and you know, up close and personal. Is it really
looked as bad seven stories up as it was on
the field.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
Talk about Sean Ryan's probably moving on? How about Cole
van Land and balling out in Jacksonville? Flipped for what
a seventh round pick? Yep, you know, and there is
seven starting for the Jaguars who are just putting up
like thirty forty burgers and everybody.
Speaker 3 (16:12):
Man, they're starting left tackle, starting left tackle, starting left tackle,
probably going to get a nice.
Speaker 2 (16:17):
Contract, uh, big deal.
Speaker 3 (16:20):
And yeah, and they're good, like they're good, they're they're
and I know the results, but they're really good. And
it's that is that's another phenomenal one where like you
don't know who is going to be able to motivate
and call upon the right stuff for the right team.
Leam Cohen sure does seem to be the right dude
for that. As they said, small market team, even though
(16:41):
it's the biggest city technically in terms of population in
the state of Florida.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
So I love love being the vindictiveness.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
I love it so much.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
And he's still in this league. What's going to happen
year to year? You don't. I mean, they're unexpected things
we do.
Speaker 1 (16:58):
Jaguars won four games last year. Now they're in contention
for the number one seed.
Speaker 3 (17:02):
And they traded their first round pick to get for
a corner wide receiver who's barely played the field, and
it was because they was like, yeah, we're not going
to be in this top five.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
That's well.
Speaker 1 (17:15):
They have the Packers former Packers linebackers coach as their
defensive coordinator, Pinelli. Yeah, he's balling out.
Speaker 3 (17:21):
And people are loveing him. Maybe he gets that Giants job.
Speaker 1 (17:25):
Man, there you go. Oh, that's a good one there.
You can make that leap. Come on, and New York guy,
he's already got the accent.
Speaker 3 (17:32):
Already got the accent name like Campanelli. You know you're
gonna tell me he's not going to be selling to
everybody in Jersey.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
In the Tri state area.
Speaker 3 (17:44):
He's gonna have his own random j There are a
lot of Jets fans on the island or is that
Giants country.
Speaker 1 (17:50):
It's a mix. It's always a mix. It's a mixed throughout,
and some are, you know, depending on the fortune of
the team, some are more boisterous than others.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
But it's always I got one friend that's a that's
a Jets fan, and my boy is just always going
through it. Well, yeah, I feel so bad not I
feel so bad for him, but I just love every
game he evens like this year. This year, he's watching
this game. They're playing the Patriots and they're just gonna
get skulled, and he's watching it like it's the AFC
title game, and I'm like, man, I would have taken
(18:20):
up knitting, Like I would have found a different hobby
if I had. If I'd have been a Jets fan
for his entire life.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
Dude, I had a Jets fan friend here in New
York who was we were talking ball all we were
out having beers whatever, and I just casually mentioned like, well,
you know you're gonna be in contention for the number
one and overall pick. Blah blah blah. Who is there
a quarterback day? But what he's like, he literally doesn't
miss a beat and says it doesn't matter, We'll screw
it up.
Speaker 2 (18:42):
I love that. Hey, here's the stat for he speaking
of the Jets. That's fun.
Speaker 4 (18:45):
Speaking of weird stats, the uh the aggregate of the
quarterbacks that have played against the Jets this year combined
thirteen to three, seven point four yards per attempt, sixty
four percent completion, thirty two toudies, no picks.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
That would be the MVP of the lead.
Speaker 4 (19:00):
That's every quarterback that's played against the Jets this year.
Speaker 2 (19:03):
I found that one for you.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
Thanks to the body, they don't have an interception all
year year.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
That is remarkable.
Speaker 4 (19:10):
It might be more remarkable than a team not punting
three times and losing all those.
Speaker 1 (19:14):
Okay, okay, the punting stat, Like, let's have a little
context break a little bit. I mean, I mean yes, Okay,
in history old you know, they've all the lost these
games where they haven't punted, et cetera. Okay, fine, but
in the history of the league people have been punting
on fourth down anymore.
Speaker 4 (19:31):
That's still crazy, though, I mean, but you're right, it
is different than it used.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
To be, the way they never did before.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
It's still crazy.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
No, but you gotta use you gotta use today's football
and analyze it with all of the other numbers, just
like the playoff record, because we got to now say
that you wouldn't have made the playoffs in twenty eighth.
Speaker 1 (19:49):
We are.
Speaker 2 (19:51):
We are, We are.
Speaker 3 (19:52):
Trying to win the twenty nineteen Super Bowl. It was
upon a time there was no playoffs. Well, Miles Garrett
didn't break the sack record. He did do it fourteen games, So.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
No, exactly, And the Packers should have fourteen championships, not thirteen.
If you know your ball.
Speaker 4 (20:05):
And Starry get me started on that year the Cago
Stadium title game. You know, I mean, I like always
mentioned Gail Sayers and Dick Buck has never made the
playoffs on now, is that a totally fair statement?
Speaker 2 (20:20):
Obviously there was no playoffs. There were the smaller playoffs back,
so factual, still fast, no factual facts. And when I'm
getting in on those Twitter streets, it doesn't matter what's fair.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
Armed with facts, that's all you're doing.
Speaker 4 (20:31):
Like Yanna says, I'm here to scramp now, it doesn't
matter anymore.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
Fight doesn't matter. Fight for my life, my life.
Speaker 1 (20:41):
Oh I love it. I love it so much. We
got more super chats, We've got more stuff to talk
about with this matchup with the Vikings. All sorts of
goodness on the flip. That's Billy and Arman. I'm Aaron
on carry the g radio back half of the last hour.
We're ready, ready and waiting and willing and able to
(21:05):
take on the Minnesota Vikings Sunday at noon as the
football gods intended to close out the twenty twenty five
regular season. And I'm with you, Billy when you talk
about the need to You can't sit everyone, obviously, the
rest versus RUSS department, right, if there's any question any guy,
anybody banged up at all, they should sit. And I
(21:28):
do think they're gonna start Clayton tune in this game.
I do like I want. I would prefermly Molik to
be out there. But I do think give them a
week of practice, run the ball, get the hell out
of there. Yeah, that's what I suspect. And I don't
think it's going to be easy to watch. I don't
think it's gonna be fun in any way, shape or form.
(21:50):
But yeah, I don't doubt that given the injury list
that we've seen over the course of the last month
or so, as it's grown and grown, and what if
they had like ten questions going into last week's game,
they had like illness sweeping through the locker room last week.
I think they sit as many guys as humanly possible.
And I'm not saying that everyone will sit, but I
think most of them will.
Speaker 3 (22:11):
I also really struggle to see, like not every opportunity
to get healthy as the best victory you can have, right, Like,
I do think you gotta get some kind of positive
vibes rolling throughout somewhat of the building. You know what
also is good positive vibes bow Milton in a touchdown?
Speaker 2 (22:30):
Right?
Speaker 3 (22:30):
You know what else is good positive vibes? Clayton Tune
throwing two touchdown passes. That would be that would be
an elite vibes also, but also like getting on the
plane and knowing that you're gonna be able to play
next week and know who your opponent is and we're
gonna have Josh Jacobs running the football twenty times.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
That's the best vibe to be able to have.
Speaker 3 (22:51):
And what I think they're gonna be trying to catch,
like I think they are going to lean very very
heavy on that. But I also would see like fringe
players that you're like, well, this guy's gonna play. They
do need certain guys to play, like you need a
certain amount of active bodies, and all due respect to
certain players, like there's cats that don't deserve to set right,
(23:13):
like there's there it's a rank.
Speaker 1 (23:14):
And file in this movie.
Speaker 3 (23:16):
And and you know you you might not be the
second wide receiver. So like Jayden Reid is a great,
great question. Jade Ree's got what four catches since coming back.
I bet he would like to play and get some
and he probably needs to play. You need to have
him on the field. Romeo Dobbs and Christian Watson probably don't.
So there's, uh, there's levels to it. And like offensive
(23:39):
line wise, Hey, Aaron Banks, you're making a lot of money.
Speaker 2 (23:41):
I know that you've been banged up.
Speaker 3 (23:42):
You know what, we actually do need you guys to
be able to block a front that's legitimate. So why
don't we go and get some playoff reps against the
unit that is playoff in Minnesota. So there's there's decisions
to be made in like up front, I'm not playing Tom,
I'm playing everybody else.
Speaker 2 (24:01):
And unless it gets out.
Speaker 3 (24:02):
Of hand and I see some different, I think you
guys are gonna play because we need to get some
We need to get Anthony Belton playing in playoff environments.
We need to get our cohesion rolling up front. And
there's certain levels to this stuff, and I'm gonna sit some,
but I'm not sitting everybody that's going to have a
helmet and shoulder pads playing in that wildcard run and.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
It's Packers Vikings.
Speaker 4 (24:23):
I mean there's still fans like me that anytime you
play the Vikings it matters.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
I don't want to lose to the Vikings.
Speaker 4 (24:28):
I care anytime we're lined up to play the Vikings,
I want to win that game bad.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
That's just the reality of it.
Speaker 4 (24:34):
I appreciate the fact that they're out of it and
we're not, and that part is good, but I don't
want to lose to the Vikings. I'm not gonna feel
good in that moment, and sport it's still a little.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
Bit about what we do here.
Speaker 1 (24:45):
When the game is now.
Speaker 4 (24:46):
The other question I have about this is we talk
about this a lot in baseball, a lot about getting
hot going to the playoffs, so the teams that are
hot are win and how hot? You know, we talked
about this a lot with the Brewers, and it's it's
always a conversation when you've already clinched the end of
September is how how much would you throttle back?
Speaker 2 (25:02):
And all this stuff.
Speaker 4 (25:04):
But it seems to be at least the research I've
done that there's no good piece of data that suggests,
at least in baseball, that a hot team has a
better chance to win the playoffs. It seems to be
that the calendar flips and there's more variance, is what
it is.
Speaker 2 (25:17):
I don't know if that's true in football or not.
I don't know if there's good data on it.
Speaker 4 (25:20):
I don't know if we can even use any data
because of the the you know how new the new
playoff spot is a little billion your point, it's been
a few years now, Like, is there any evidence to
suggest that that what will happen next week will portend
a different result in two weeks.
Speaker 1 (25:37):
I mean both approaches have worked, and examples of the
games like, yeah, look at last year alone. I mean
the Chiefs said everybody in the last week meaningless game
and then they march to the super Bowl. You know
what I mean, like you just it. And Matt always
says this, and he's one hundred billion percent spot on
no matter what call he makes, he is going to
get second guests. Yeah, Like, no matter who plays, who sits,
(26:00):
whether they're healthier, not, all of this stuff, everyone will
have an opinion on it. And the only way it's
the right choice is if they win the game.
Speaker 3 (26:07):
Thousand percent, because I loved Schneidman's question of it yesterday
where he's like, you know, what can you take in
learning from the past experience that you have? And man,
only you always call upon the past experience that you have.
And I'm trying to think about I'm like, well, okay,
twenty twenty one, they thought they were going to go
in and homecoming the Lions, and then they were losing
(26:28):
at halftime in sad guys, second, I didn't think they
lost anybody have significance in that game if I'm not mistaken.
Speaker 2 (26:33):
But maybe they did.
Speaker 3 (26:35):
Did Dave play in that like a couple of series
and then didn't play the next week?
Speaker 1 (26:39):
Potentially? I think you're right.
Speaker 2 (26:41):
Okay, So it was there was something weird in there.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
They're like, all right, they're getting some really good vibes,
and then all of a sudden, oh wait, we're losing
to the kiddies, and now weird and now it's Parish lost.
Speaker 1 (26:51):
They lost MVS in that game, and that's what.
Speaker 3 (26:53):
Was Okay, they lost MVS and then they lose lots
in last year, so like that would be the call
upon of we've only lost cats, so maybe we don't
play anybody. But he felt pretty it sounded in twenty one,
unless it was only because Aaron wanted to and sounded
convicted and getting some kind of good vibes rolling Matt
seemed to really believe it in twenty one, So either
(27:16):
you totally changed all of the beliefs or it's like,
I'm just not wanting to deal with my guys going
down because that's the only thing I'm gonna lose.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
And on the other the flip side of that coin,
you're talking about the Chiefs last year said everybody, last
game and then march to the Super Bowl. Right. You
got the Lions a couple of years ago where they
go out meaningless game in San Francisco and CAMPBELL'SAI, Oh,
we're playing everybody, and they play everybody and they win
the game, and then they go on and they lose
in the NFC Championship game. But like that's the kind
(27:49):
of dichotomy of like, if you win the game, it's
the right call. It really depends on what's right for
your roster in this moment. Yes, you know, as banged
up as the Packers are, I'll understand if we're out
there with the preseason looking roster like, I'll totally understand
that call. But I know it's gonna be hard to watch.
It's gonna be hard to watch against that defense in
(28:10):
that building.
Speaker 3 (28:11):
Well, and uh, I mean it's it's a masterclass of
playing out and signing up for seventeen games and doing
all of it for what koc And and Brian Flores
have been able to get out of that Viking team.
Speaker 2 (28:23):
I mean, they paid a lot of guys this year
and a lot of veteran.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
Playing big money to compete for the playoffs and win
playoff games, and they've been eliminated for two weeks and
they're playing as hard as any team in football.
Speaker 4 (28:37):
Really, really, Them's them is a heavy favorite. I believe
I saw six and a half. Uh yeah, surprise, it
should probably be more right.
Speaker 1 (28:46):
I was just you know, I like dag on the
chat here almost became an e or on Saturday. Rest everyone,
even the ball boy. That's one approach if you if.
Speaker 2 (28:58):
You consider the e or that you've already become a
new or almost.
Speaker 1 (29:03):
If you're teetering on eorism, you have probably already entered
because you probably already.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
Opened that door, cracked that door open.
Speaker 3 (29:10):
I like that is a e Your club is kind
of like, uh, my man, Tim Allen's doun Club, where
it's like you are, you are done, and now the
e or is a little different from the sand point
of you're gonna watch all the games and enjoy being miserable. Yeah,
apparently Tim's dun Club was. He said, now this is
what you need to do. You shut the TV off
and you don't watch it again, and you're done. Then
(29:32):
you're done and you don't get to comment on it anymore.
Because I'm sick and tired of you. But somebody you're
doing that.
Speaker 1 (29:37):
Here's the point, e or Membership has its privileges, and
the privilege is you get to sit there and be miserable,
and then when things don't work out, which they usually
don't in the NFL because only one team wins the
championship every year, when they don't inevitably work out, you
get to sit there and go.
Speaker 2 (29:54):
I was running they were bad.
Speaker 1 (29:58):
I knew they were gonna be bad, rather than actually
rooting for your supposed favorite team. I mean, membership has
its privileges.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
I've been saying that we could you know things this
summer exactly, Yet I was saying, I knew it. I
called it.
Speaker 3 (30:15):
They were gonna give up a touchdown and they were
gonna lose because they didn't score as many points, and
like there was gonna be one bad play and I
knew it.
Speaker 1 (30:23):
I called it.
Speaker 2 (30:24):
That was gonna be the on to you.
Speaker 1 (30:26):
So people I told you they do. We should hang
banners for I told you so. The way people champion
the ability to say I told you so, rather than
rooting for their favorite team.
Speaker 4 (30:37):
That's a great point. And I think the funny thing
about it is. We assume a lot of times we
live in our own world and our some you know,
we were of all the plans are all around us
in our teams, right, But this is true every fan base.
I guarantee every fan base is having the same conversation.
Ones that win, especially ones that lose. They're all saying, look, there,
these are these problems and these things, and we'll never
(30:59):
do it because remember the times that they lose or
the times that their team plays mad, and they say,
this indicates that this team isn't ready, this coaching isn't
good enough. We don't have this intangible you know. It's
the same thing that we're fan base. So that kind
of cracks me up a little bit when I hear
everyone say, look, you know, we're just gonna lose the
which we might. We might just bow out in the round.
(31:19):
But every team thinks that they're probably gonna everything worries.
I should say, fan base that they're just gonna blow
it in the first round and then if they win,
they'll blow it in the next round.
Speaker 1 (31:28):
Here's a.
Speaker 2 (31:30):
Championship.
Speaker 1 (31:31):
I'm glad you brought that up. I'm glad you brought
that up because like Okay, whatever happens this weekend doesn't matter. Right,
this game in Minnesota, it's nonsense, Like whatever, right, it's
gonna happen. Whatever's gonna happen, is gonna happen. We move
on to what is most likely going to be a
matchup with the Bears. Now some there is a path,
or it could be the Eagles, but most likely gonna
(31:52):
be the Bears. Who is the pressure on in that game?
Speaker 2 (31:57):
Chicago? Absolutely, deep down, they are afraid, deep down they.
Speaker 1 (32:02):
Field It took a miracle to win the second time.
Speaker 4 (32:05):
It's how I felt deep down about a Cubs playoff series.
Let's be honest. On the other side of it, I
didn't want to deal with them again. We already won
the Division. Bears them Bears want to have their big
triumph against us and have that be the end of
the story.
Speaker 2 (32:17):
I'm in you know what I mean, or whatever it is.
Speaker 3 (32:19):
Well, the problem is, though their little brother in this scenario,
the Brewers also were the big brother, and we're and
and everybody was treating it like they were the little brother. No,
you dominated and dogged the division for the last five years.
Take this as an opportunity to flex, dunk and celebrate
the fact that you not only won the division, but
you also ended their season. That is how they're going
(32:40):
to look at and that's how they might be starting
to frame it in their minds, or like I think
you guys are penning it, they're probably more realizing like
this could be the worst of all scenarios, that we've
had our best quarter, We've had the best moment.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
In decades.
Speaker 4 (33:01):
As good as things Bears look for the Bears and
as bleak as they look for the Packers, we could
change off one win and flip. That's why I've been
I've been, unlike my previous self, actually hoping for that
matchup because because it's the best possible I'll come on
otherwise bleak.
Speaker 2 (33:15):
Finish to the year. That could really change the way
I felt about everything.
Speaker 4 (33:19):
If we could end their season and do that, Man,
that might be a scenario where one playoff wins enough.
Speaker 2 (33:24):
Although we almost never say.
Speaker 1 (33:25):
That, it's never enough arm and it's never enough. It's
title town. It ain't beat the Bears town. We all
know this. However, they would be pretty, but.
Speaker 3 (33:32):
This would This would be the year of the This
would put it to the test. Though, This would put
it to the test of all the all the father
in laws that I've heard back in the day say,
you know, there was this time and when I used
to watch football, where you know, if you won two
games and you beat the Bears, that was all that matters. Well,
this is it, This would this would be the year
that that that thought process that we can call upon
(33:55):
those times, those times of yesteryear that us youngins don't
remember that you got us. Guys didn't live use guys
didn't remember you guys don't remember how tough it was. Well,
let's put this into this is how tough it is.
We're only potentially gonna win nine regular season games.
Speaker 2 (34:12):
Only win nine games? Are you kidding?
Speaker 3 (34:14):
But you get to beat the Bears twice, in one
of which is in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
That's gonna be. That's gonna be good for me.
Speaker 3 (34:20):
That'll that'll be for me, and I'll enjoy, go enjoy
whatever collapse in San Francisco.
Speaker 1 (34:25):
Not the goal, it's not the thing you're shooting for,
but it'd be a nice outcome.
Speaker 3 (34:31):
Listen, I want to win the Fantasy Championship, but once
I'm in the Constellation bracket, might as well win.
Speaker 2 (34:35):
The son of a.
Speaker 1 (34:36):
Guy right you played.
Speaker 3 (34:40):
Listen, I'm putting that as week seventeen. That Wildcome Around
is gonna be awesome.
Speaker 1 (34:46):
Cannot wait, cannot wait. Man, we're flying. We're flying here
and carry the g radio. Oh man, what are you
doing to me? Why you gotta frame it like that?
I was, I was feel good, I pick of Bears.
Speaker 2 (35:00):
Oh no, we're up, We're up. We're gonna go in it.
I'm said, old miss, what are you talking about? This
is gonna be great.
Speaker 1 (35:07):
By the way, I gotta PlayStation five, so no more
excuses from you, young man.
Speaker 3 (35:11):
Come on now, Radio Clown seventy eight. Everybody can play.
Speaker 1 (35:15):
That really is on.
Speaker 2 (35:17):
It is a great name on.
Speaker 1 (35:18):
Thanks Thanks story one. That's me heart.
Speaker 2 (35:23):
What do you guys playing Mario Party? Uh No, I'm
gonna dog walk him in n C double ah. That's
good too.
Speaker 1 (35:28):
This is just this is where it begins, how it starts,
the false bravoo, the idea that he's just gonna walk
all over me when I just picked the game up
for the first time ever and it took him like
until the last play of the game, last play of
the game.
Speaker 2 (35:44):
That was a great one.
Speaker 1 (35:45):
It was a great one.
Speaker 3 (35:46):
Two years ago was it two years, two years ago,
because I forgot it this year when we went up
to when we went up to Green Bay for the
house it again.
Speaker 4 (35:53):
I just love that name Radio Clown seventy eight. I thought,
you're kidding it. That's a brilliant I love.
Speaker 1 (35:58):
This perfect is to find.
Speaker 3 (36:02):
Way better than the Gods seventy eight that I made
in high school.
Speaker 2 (36:05):
Now with the A T A J T H A A.
Speaker 1 (36:12):
Oh the best last dude. Last night I was online
playing some dude who is clearly a Bears fan, because
you know it starts in like Lambeau and like blah
blah blah, and guys instantly on the mic going screw
the Packers. Only say he's not saying screwed school the Packers,
Screw the pack The Bears gonna walk you, and you're
gonna kill you. They took the North, the Bears, the Bears.
(36:33):
The Bears guy is playing with the Patriots. I'm like, oh,
so you want Drake May And then he was like,
oh I will will I Your organization made the wrong
call to your quarterback. You got a good one, but
there's a better one out there in New England and
you know it, and you just exposed yourself.
Speaker 2 (36:52):
They did it again.
Speaker 3 (36:54):
They did it again, although this time twice is nice
because just wait until Jayde and Daniel's redemption to her
next year.
Speaker 1 (37:00):
Here, Oh baby, cannot wait, can't wait. We got more
to come here at the end of another lively Kara
the G Radio. That's Billy and Arman. I'm Aaron. More
to come right after this
