Speaker 1 (00:00):
Time now for our CEO spotlight here on the Ryan
Gorman Show, when we're joined this morning by Andrew Kanig,
CEO of City Home, to talk about their big transformation
from City Furniture. You can check them out online at
cityhome dot com. Andrew, it's really great to talk to you,
and I want to start there. The decision to expand
beyond just furniture and really become a one stop shop

(00:22):
for everything someone might need for their home. What was
behind that decision?

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Truly, we're trying to improve the customer experience, and we're
changing from City Furniture to City Home so we can
offer all product categories that make the shopping experience more
pleasurable to do so and more inspiring. So rather than
going to multiple location, multiple retailers and really hunting for
what you need, we're excited to offer everything under one

(00:48):
roof and be the one stop for all things home.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
And there was a study that found that that's exactly
what a lot of people were doing. They were going
on a bunch of different websites, visiting a bunch of
different stores in person before making some of these purchases.
And now you can just do it all at City Home.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Yeah, that's the goal, and we have an amazing design team,
sales professionals that really can help the customer navigate through
whether they're doing a project, moving into a new home,
building a new home, and really shop all the different
categories that we have under one roof make it really
easy and affordable and quick. Which is really cool too
because we're going to have all the inventory under one

(01:29):
roof in our warehouses, so it's going to be a
really pleasurable shopping experience.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
And speaking to that, I hear, and you can correct
me if I'm wrong, but I hear you've got things
like fresh bake cookies, a wine bar. This is more
an experience really than just going in and rushing to
get something done.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
Yeah, we're really happy and proud of our City Cafe,
which is what you're referring to. So we have free cookies,
free waters, a free happy hour between five and seven.
Your first glass is free beer wine. So we really
want to have a fun shopping experience. The average customer
shop center store for over an hour, so we really
want them to enjoy it. And sometimes, you know, the

(02:10):
wife can bring the husband and post them up by
the bar and watch the football game. And you know,
the wife can do some damage.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
I make much better decisions when I have a cookie
and a little wine, you know. So we're joined by Entricainting,
CEO of city Home. You can check out their transformation
at cityhome dot com now obviously going beyond just furniture
and offering things like appliances, home electronics, interior design. You
couldn't need a bigger showroom to fit everything, and that's

(02:39):
exactly what you've done in Plant City.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
That's right. You could find all these new categories in
our Plant City showroom. It's one hundred and sixty thousand
square feet. The huge shopping experience. You got a lot
of different products you can check out. We got all
the best brands, all the right prices, and it's going
to be really cool for people to check out. We're
real proud.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
I drove by it recently and I have to say
it is massive. I mean you just look at it
and you're like, yeah, they must have everything in there.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
We're pretty close and you can touch it, you can
feel it. You can make sure what you know it's
what you want in your home, and you can have
a designer or sales professional'll help you put it all together,
So it's a really cool shopping experience. We're real excited.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
So if you're someone who kind of has an idea
of what you want, you can go in and probably
be a quicker trip. But if you're someone who has
no idea where to start, sounds like that's really where
this experience and all that you have to offer will
come into play and be extremely helpful.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
Yeah, it's either or no matter where you're coming from.
You're looking for one item, or you're looking to build
a home completely from scratch and you need a lot
of stuff to you know, furniture, appliances, TV's home, electronics, fitness,
you name it, bath you know you can you can
see it all. So we're really capable of serving any
type of customer with any type of need. And that's

(04:06):
one of the strategies of why we're doing this. We
want to be the first stop for all things home.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
We're joined by Andrew knig CEO of City Home. Lest thing.
I want to ask you about your charitable endeavors to
five percent giving pledge, the twenty forty green Promise. Tell
us about that.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
My father started our company fifty five years ago, a
very religious, very good man, always gave back to the community.
So we branded our giving strategy our five percent Giving Pledge,
which is we give back a minimum five percent of
our profits to organizations like American Cancer Socide, American Heart Association,
Habitat for Manny and so on. But it's our commitment

(04:42):
to you know, we're lucky and fortunate to be blessed
by the community and our customers to grow our business,
that we have to give back to the community and
those that's our pledge to do so at minimum five
percent every year. And on the twenty forty Green Promises,
our commitment to the environment. Our goal is to be
carbon neutral by twenty forty and over seventy percent of

(05:02):
our stores our power through solar. All of our trucks
are compressed natural gas, which is seventy percent less emissions.
We recycle almost everything. Very proud of our team and
all the green, environmental sustainable efforts that we adopt at
City And it's just our way of saying thank you
to our customers, our community, the world for our business success.

(05:24):
So we got to give back.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
Andrew Canan, CEO of City Home, with us to talk
about their big transformation from City Furniture here on our
CEO Spotlight. You can check them out and learn more
again at cityhome dot com. Andrew really appreciate the time
and best of luck with the all new city Home.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Thank you so much for having me appreciate it.
