Speaker 1 (00:03):
All the latest election coverage is on ninety four to
three doublin USC. This is Charleston's Morning News. Back to
Kelly and Blaze.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Donald Trump was fired by eighty one million people. Mic
drops and missteps Welcome in. It is a Wednesday edition
of the program here on ninety four to three WSC
as we dig into the missteps the mic drop moments.
Interesting if we can even agree on what some of
the mic drop moments were. I noticed where people are

(00:32):
talking about the dogs that might have been a mic
drop moment for Donald John Trump, the forty fifth president
of the United States, where others are like, WHOA, we
didn't need that note enough people pay attention to the
news cycle to recognize that that's been in the news
cycle for quite some time.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
It's been in the news cycle. David Muhr kept pushing back,
saying that the city manager said that there's no credible
reports of that. If you go to the Federalist and
you go to several other webs sites. Caller reported to
police a group of Haitian migrants carrying four geese in Springfield, Ohio.
It's on audio y two.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
I saw some video.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
Yeah, well, I mean I'm talking about to call to
the police department, so they have audio, so for the
city manager to say there's no credible reports while it
was being reported to the police, and yes, you've seen
the news clips and maybe everybody hasn't seen that. I know,
my son pulled up a meme that had Donald Trump
surrounded by cats.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
And ducks and he didn't understand and he was like.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
I don't get it. And I'm like, oh, because the
Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio have been eating the cats,
in the ducks, in the geese.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
And what was his.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
Responses meme is all about. What was his response, Well,
he was like, oh, okay, then he got it right.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
I would think the response would be shocking, like that's
shocking for anyone to hear. But maybe there was so
much shocking stuff that people don't pay attention to that
he said last night that they're like, it's a fail,
it's a miss where some things I'm like, no, that
was a that was a mic drop moment there. That
was a win. So that's why I say, I wonder
if we how many of us agree or disagree on
the missteps versus the mic troupe.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Well, it was only a win if you were aware
of the news story, right, and a lot of people aren't.
They don't follow the news.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
Well, this one, I do believe was a mic drop
from well Kamala there, I believe. I mean that was
three seconds. And for people who don't follow the news
cycle and just tuned into this debate to make a decision,
it may not tune into any other one, whether we
get it or not. You know, she said he was
fired by having many million people for him. What about
this I'm talking now?

Speaker 4 (02:38):
If you don't mind, please does that sound familiar?

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Now?

Speaker 2 (02:41):
That's an ultimate troll on Trump's part. He is the
epic ultimate troller.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
Well, I mean, I thought that was great, and he
had a few moments last night, but I still think
and I'm not alone in this, you know, there's plenty
of Trump supporters that were disappointed in his performance and
thought that he's should have been stronger and that not
so toned down. And I won't go so far as
to say he was crazy, but he was unfocused and

(03:11):
that's nothing new for Donald Trump. But I thought he
should have taken it to her more than he did.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
See I think he took a tour in many ways
but sometimes in ways well over the head of people
who don't dig into the details like we do seven
two five five at seven to two one talk And
I think that absolutely worked in his disadvantage. I do
agree with you on that, But how could you keep up?
I mean, imagine being him in this moment. I can't.

(03:39):
The man is there's been an attempt at assassination. He
has been attacked in every way, shape or form, financially, personally,
yet he's still out here trying to warn every one
of us that I'm just standing in the way and
this is not about me. Meanwhile, her gas lighting and
lies were dizzying. She wasn't fact checked in real time
like he was. Back to the moderator you mentioned, David Muir,

(04:01):
I mean that was slanted. He could have done a
far better job, as well as the other gal on
stage sitting with him moderating. I mean, she's championing four
years of success under this administration that doesn't exist, and
then she's also saying that she's going to fix it
day one.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
Well, she lied through the whole thing. Yeah, but I
kept waiting for more moments like what you just played,
and they didn't come, And so do I think this
is going to decide the election. Probably not, hopefully not,
but I think that people were expecting more out of
the former president.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Well, and one of our frequent flyers, Shim Creek Steve
is one of them. We'll hear from him coming up.
Plus coming up at eight twenty, you've got the head
of the Republican Party, drewmy Kissick weighing in two under
Facts Versus Fiction post debate showdown here on ninety four
to three WSC.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
This is Charleston's Morning News with Kelly and Blaze. Now
the top three.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
Things former President Donald Trump is not saying what he'll
do about Obamacare have elected. During last night's presidential debate
against Vice President Kamala Harris, the GOP candidate was asked
if he had a replacement plan for the Affordable Care Act,
and he responded that he had concepts of a plan.
He also didn't mention any changes to Obamacare, saying he

(05:20):
would only change it if we come up with something
that's better and less expensive. Health insurance subsidies that were
expanded under the Biden administration are set to expire in
twenty twenty five. Nearly fifty million Americans have been covered
through Obamacare since twenty fourteen. The UN General Assembly is
who spented a vote next week on a resolution calling

(05:41):
for Israel to end its occupation of Palestinian territories within
six months. The draft resolution, written by the Palestinian Authority,
notes an opinion from the International Court of Justice that
Israeli occupation and settlements are illegal. Israel's ambassador to the
UN called the resolution disgraceful and said the General Assembly

(06:02):
should condemn Hamas instead and call for a release of
Israeli hostages held by the Palestinian militant group. Crosbistills, Nash
and Young have a new live album on the Way.
It was recorded September twentieth, nineteen sixty nine, at a
show in New York. The performance includes both acoustic and

(06:25):
electric sets with drummer Dallas Taylor and bassist Greg Reeves.
Live at Fillmore East nineteen sixty nine, will be available
on CD and vinyl on October twenty fifth.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
See that's another one with the Obamacare story you just mentioned.
That is a farce. Trump last night, absolutely, I mean,
this is this is to me peddling, like what the
propaganda press will say that Trump didn't hit the Obamacare.
Yes he did, but you know what he doesn't need
to do give his complete play by play on how
to fix it to them. I mean, that's how I
took it, and that wasn't the only.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
Well, uh, it's true. He did say he had concepts
of a plan and he did not have a concrete
plan in place. But he also pointed out that he
had the choice at the time that either let it
rot because there wasn't the will of especially the Republicans,
to do anything about it. So he had a choice
to let it rot and infest or to try to

(07:24):
improve upon it. And he chose to improve upon it,
he said, to his credit. So he did explain that away.
But technically he did say that he didn't have a
solid plan and that you know, if they came up
with something that's better and less expensive, he would support that.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
Which is great news to me and a lot of
people who actually were forced onto Obamacare when they were
told that they could keep their doctors and so on.
So and then we could go on down the line
of plans in missing plans, and he's right, just like that,
run spot, run a bite there before the break, where
are her detailed plans and if you look at finally
what their website was updated with on Sunday with regards

(08:05):
of her plans, it's a rinse and repeat of Biden,
how's the last four years of your life gone? Not better?
It's been worse, And he made sure to explain that
it's only going to get worse to a level with
which will be Venezuela on steroids. And he's not wrong.
But we'll deal more with that coming up here on
ninety four to three WSA. I want to get to Steve,

(08:26):
and Steve says I had to tune out. I was just,
you know, I was really dejected a little bit. I
think you said the term was.

Speaker 4 (08:33):
I mean, there are issues that are so easy to attack,
and instead he would just go off and he didn't
stick to the basics of the economy, immigration, He wouldn't
answer questions directly, and he wouldn't he wouldn't put context

(08:56):
in his answers. He just said that and unless you
followed his career, which we do, you know what he's
talking about. But the average American doesn't have any idea.
They're just starting to pay attention now and here's Trump
spouting this stuff that they don't understand and they never
heard before. It was an unmitigated self owned by Donald Trump,

(09:20):
and it disheartened me. I had to turn it off eventually.
When what was that point when Kamala was talking about,
oh yeah, talking about immigration, the subject of immigration came
up and Donald Trump starts talking about Haitian immigrants eating
cats and dogs.

Speaker 5 (09:41):
You know, you don't go right to that.

Speaker 4 (09:43):
What you say is there's a small town in Ohio
less than sixty thousand people, and the Biden administration crammed
twenty thousand Haitian immigrants in it who are so far
from assimilating they might as well be from another planet.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
He said that, but in a different way.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
Well, you know, and it's difficult, and we have these
constraints also. It's hard to get your whole point out sometimes.
And sometimes I'll even we'll go to commercial break and
I'll be like, man, I wish I had more time
to explain that, right, because you only have two minutes
or whatever, and you just can't get it all in

(10:22):
there the way that you want to sometimes. But I
want to go back to your point of Kamala being
a rinse and repeat of Biden. I don't think that's
the case, she's trying to distance herself from Biden, and
she's trying to adopt more right wing and centrist positions
opposed to what she has said for her entire political

(10:45):
career up until just recently in this election cycle. Go
back to the last election cycle in what she was saying,
Go back to when she ran for president and what
she was saying. Then go back to when she was
a t Jerney General of California and what she was
saying then. So but this time around, she's not saying

(11:07):
that same thing, and she's not rinsing and repeating what
the Biden policies are. She's trying to distance herself from
that and pretend to be somebody else, somebody that she's not.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
I don't think she's successfully distancing herself, But I also
don't think Trump successfully did that as well. Did a
good job of hammering to Steve's point, he didn't do
a good enough job and maybe yours as well. There
blaze that he didn't do a good enough job. To
dumb it down is not the best way to put it,
but simplify it frankly, of and letting her get away

(11:40):
with distancing herself. I could have done a better job
landing those blows.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
I think he should have called her out a whole
lot more and challenged her a whole lot more, and
he didn't, and hopefully he learned his lesson.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
Hopefully we're going to get another debate out of this.
I know the challenge has been thrown down. All right,
Moore just.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
Said traffic and weather every ten minutes. This is Charleston
This Morning News with Kelly and Blaze on ninety four
to three WSC.

Speaker 2 (12:08):
On this Patriot Day twenty three years ago, please remember
the nine to eleven terror attacks on America, especially at
this very time. It's eight twenty eight. Welcome into a
Wednesday edition of the program. Here on ninety four to
three WSC. Half staff is what I hope our flags
will remain at today with regards to the nine to
eleven anniversary and commemorating at the Silent Walk of the

(12:31):
Ravenel Bridge of our first responders that started over a
decade ago. As starting right now as we speak from
the City of Charleston's side over the Ravenel Bridge, we'll
talk more about ceremonies out in Dorchester County being hosted
as we speak. Those ceremonies kicking off in Saint George
and the park there, and we'll take you to ground
zero with our continuing team coverage on this twenty thirty

(12:55):
anniversary of the nine to eleven attacks on America with
Fox News. We'll take you to ground zero, coming up zero.
At this very moment, Drew McKissick, head of the Republican
Party here in South Carolina, is our mic drop moments
versus missteps and last night's presidential debate. Whether we get
any more of those who knows at this point, I'm
just going to treat it as this could potentially be

(13:16):
the only one and the economy and security and our
sovereignty and freedoms are on the ballot come November. But
did Donald Trump do the best at explaining that? Or
was it Kamala Harris? He's online one. Thank you Drew
for tuning in here this morning.

Speaker 5 (13:31):
Good morning, Drew, Absolutely happy to be with you. A
good morning. So I would say that both candidates got
some of what they wanted out of last night to day.
And when I say that, I mean, you know, if
I'm judging things or given a strategy going into before
the date last night, I would say for Trump's part,
focus on the economy, inflation, crime, immigration, rent, repeat, rent, repeat,

(13:55):
If he does that for the next fifty some odd
days till legend day and stays focused on that, I
think this election is his. If you're Harris going into
last night's debate, obviously you don't want to talk about
those things because those are the top of the line
for the American people, and the American people tend to
agree more to the Republican position than her position. So
you want to spend your time trying to distract Ronald Trump,

(14:15):
to to get him talking about things that are not
on that list, and to run out the clock. I
think both of them did a little bit of that
last night, or a good bit of that. I mean,
you know, sometimes his answers to some of the questions
that were not related to those issues. He went into
those issues, particularly immigrations. For her part, she kept trying
to distract him, and you know, talk about things like
crowd sizes and you know, other things like that have

(14:38):
nothing to do with, quite frankly, what the American people
are focused on. I think it was telling though that
after the debate was over, her crowd immediately put out
and noticed thing that they want another debate. That tells
me they didn't get everything that they wanted last night.
You know, same performance acide for a minute. She's in
a spot where she has to further de find herself.

(15:00):
People still don't know her very well, don't know much
about her. Obviously, she inherited the anti Trump vote, but
that's not a majority of the country. She's still got
to get the votes to win, and they know she
still needs to close the sale. The problem that they
have is she's selling the essentially the same policies, but
it's a different sale now. She's tried to do it.
The flip flops over the course of the last week
on a number of issues, you know, fracking, she's even

(15:22):
started using pictures of the border wall in immigration has
in some states, for God's sakes, and totally disingenuous. But
they know they still need to close the sale. So
you know, if I were Trump, I put out a
statement to day and say I'll agree to do the
Falst News debate. It's going to be on this date
in the city and I'll see you there and see
if she shows up. But uh, you know, I think
again both of them did not get everything that they

(15:45):
wanted out of. That's nice debate. But again for Trump
and any Republicans perspective, you know, it's not just one
on one, it's you know, one on three because, yeah,
the moderators are not pressing the Democrat on the questions
they need to press them on.

Speaker 3 (15:59):
It might be Yeah, Drew, I'd like to see, you know,
the next debate, if it happens, be in a town
hall format where they hear from the voters, because I thought,
truthfully both sides there was a lack of substance last night.
You know, it was all platitudes and just touching on
certain subjects and not really getting into policy and how
it affected each American, each voter's life, life, in their lives.

(16:26):
And I'd like to see, you know, the voters be
involved next time in a town hall format. You think
there's a chance of that happening, you know.

Speaker 5 (16:35):
I agree with you. I think it would probably work
more to advantage because essentially sidestep some of the moderators
in that context. I doubt very seriously they would agree
to it specifically for that reason, particularly the Harris campaign.
But yeah, I come back to the issues. Every major
poll of the course of this year has had economy, inflation, immigration,
and crime in a different order you know, of course

(16:55):
of the year, but all at the top of the
list essentially. And American people agree with the Republican position
on those issues more so than Democrat positions. That's our strength.
And you had let's see, it was a Times poll
New York Times CN poll. I think yesterday day before
yesterday that you know, over sixty semi percent of the
American people want major chain, to use the phrase major chain,

(17:18):
and only twenty five percent of them believe that Kamala
Harris represents the kind of major change they want. I
think it was fifty five percent said Donald Trump did. So,
the issues on the ground favor Trump. Stick to the
issues on the ground, the political situation, the incumbent in
the White House. You know, when people want change, the
incumbent in the White House and their party is in

(17:38):
a banned position. All of that, you know, in points
in his direction is it helps them fight downhill, if
you will, if they focus on those key issues.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
So Drew mckissig live here on ninety four to three WS.
He head of the Republican Party in South Carolina. You
have a deep print in the R and see the
Republican National Committee and to the debate Life Night kamala Is.
I will say it's a pro in her camp that
she came across cunning and polished in that type fashion.
She was successful in some ways of painting. Trump is

(18:10):
this rambling old buffoon. But he's actually his IQ is
in genius category. He's minsa many people don't know that fact,
and he talks over people's heads and he does cram
a whole lot of information in a very short amount
of time. But one thing, if we could break down
the basics here, which we need to continue to do,
and so does he frankly at another debate, but the
border in our ballots. If we don't have secure borders

(18:33):
and we don't have secure ballots, we don't have a country.
So what about securing our ballots come November?

Speaker 5 (18:39):
Well, yeah, that is and you're not talking about this,
I know a good bit even since twenty twenty. Yes,
And it depends on what states you're in, what the
challenges are, what the laws were in twenty twenty. The
laws have been changed in a good number of states
since twenty twenty to make things more secure. Chapter line
is one we've got a much more secure voting all here.

(19:00):
I think the number second or third ratest one in
the country according to Aritage Foundation. But you know, we
didn't have those problems that they had in twenty twenty
places like Georgia. But Georgia's tightened up their law. A
number of other states are run by Democrats. They have not.
And then we've engaged and lost to some places they've
been successful, some places they have not. The R and
C is engaged, and I think the number now is

(19:20):
almost up to ninety different election related lawsuits all across
the country. And that's just the R and C now
know the conservative groups or state parties. So where we
can attack things in the courtroom, we do that. If
it's in the legislature, we do that. But at the
end of the day, it's the rule. Whatever the rules are,
we've got to be good at what those rules are.
And I get California is a good example. You know

(19:42):
we're not. We don't want here in South Carolina and
ballot harvesting is they fell on me here in South Carolina,
in California, song Land, So our folks have to be
better at ballot harvesting in California than they are. And
I would say, by the way, that's one of the
reasons why we picked up three or four congressional seats
in California two because our crowd actually went in the

(20:02):
conservative Hispanic churches in California was dropped boxes and doing
battle of harvesting and it worked there. Because again, those
are the rules of the road. So whatever those rules are,
we have to be better at it than they are.

Speaker 2 (20:16):
Well, they're almost conceding Georgia at this point and focusing
on neighboring North Carolina and saying if Kamala wins in
North Carolina that she wins this election.

Speaker 5 (20:25):
Well, you know, I mean you could say that, I
mean we if we win Georgia and lose North Carolina,
then it's essentially just you know, you've just switched places. Rightly,
If Trump keeps what he won laugh and wins Georgia
and Pennsylvania, that's two hundred and seventy votes. That's ballgame.
He's president. If he doesn't win Pennsylvania, he needs to
pick up Arizona, Nevada, and you know, at least the

(20:47):
one electoral vote extra vote they have out in Nebraska
because they don't do winter take off, or we could
pick up Michigan. I mean, that's a myment that Michigan
is seriously in play. It's gonna come down to about
six state around the country. There's no getting around that.
You and I can bet our house on how those
other states are going to vote and sleep pretty soundly
at night, not thinking we're not going to have a

(21:08):
place to live. Is slow swing states, and you know,
last time it came down to combined total of I
think forty thousand votes over about three states. Trump, in
my mind, Trump is going to do better in this
cycle than he did last cycle. He's going to do
better with African Americans, He's going to do better with
his fanics. And keep in mind, he did the best
any Republican has done since Richard Nixon in nineteen seventy two,

(21:30):
last time with blacks and with his pants, and he's
built on that since then. But then it comes down
to you know, the suburban areas and a lot of
the swing states. That's going to be key and getting
out our faith. And if we do that and again
we stick to those issues that people are focused on
right now, we're going to win because those are the
issues that people encounter every day. They go to the

(21:51):
growth stoing, they go to the gas plump people trying
to buy a house, you know, and all those things
hit him in the face every day. Stick to what
they are focused on, and we'll do well in my opinion.

Speaker 1 (22:05):
