Speaker 1 (00:02):
This is Charleston's Morning News with Kelly and Blaze.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Kelly's not here, it's just me Blaze. So I started
the show by asking, how are you buying any of this?
It just seems suspect to me, As do more and
more and more things seem suspect to me these days.
But Kamala Harris all of a sudden rising in the polls.
She's a new kind of Democrat. It's the person, not
(00:28):
the policies that were unpopular with Joe Biden. He as
a person was very unpopular, but his policies were great.
I heard that on the way in this morning from
a political analyst. So Kamala has this in the bag.
So let me ask you. Are you better off than
you were four years ago? According to another political analyst,
(00:49):
people are getting used to the higher prices that they
have to pay and they realize that they're not going
to go away. And now that the Biden Harris administration
has successful curbed inflation, because the new CPI numbers yesterday
showed that inflation was finally under three percent, problem solved,
(01:11):
Kamala sales to victory. So are you buying any of that?
Are you better off than you are four years ago.
Are you you used to the higher prices? Have you adjusted?
Were you able to absorb the higher prices? And you've adjusted?
And you're like, well, that's just the way it is.
And after all, I really love these democratic policies and
(01:34):
so I'm just going to have to live with it.
I've already made my adjustments and i really love their policies.
So I'm voting for Kamala. Is that how you feel
this morning? Seven to two one talk seven two one
eight two five five. It's a number of the studio,
And don't forget to utilize talkback if you're listening online.
You know, when you go into the store. I was
in the store yesterday and I was looking for a
(01:55):
specific product and they didn't have it anymore. And I
noticed that more and more and more there's less selection
out there along with the higher prices. And then you
hear that Kamala is going to introduce a national price
gouging ban. And I had mentioned before the break about
(02:17):
is that really the government's role because it's essentially price fixing,
and you know, is it the corporation's fault? Have they
been raising prices? Did they see that they had an opportunity,
and so they just started raising prices and we can
blame away a good part of the inflation on corporate greediness?
(02:37):
Is that the case here? And do you really think
that Kamala Harris is the person to navigate us through
all this? Now they're touting this poll where she's closing
the gap on who trusts which candidate has trusted more
with the economy, Kamala Harris or former President Trump? And
she's closing the gap. She's only three points behind Trump now,
(03:01):
whereas that margin was like over ten percent when it
was Biden that was running. And after all, abortion is
a huge issue too. So I also heard that from
a political analyst on the way in, and the Republicans
are underestimating how important of an issue abortion is. So
you combine all of that with their antiquated views on abortion,
(03:27):
on how well the Biden Harris administration has steered us
through the tough times of runaway inflation and brought it
back down to earth. And they've done a great job.
And Kamala Harris is a new kind of Democrat that
exudes joy and therefore she has Trump back on his heels.
(03:50):
She's going to win Trump knows it. He's pretty much
just given up already. What do you think about all
of that?
Speaker 1 (03:58):
Decision four our ringside for the main event. This is
Charleston's Morning News on ninety four to three WSC.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
Today is National Relaxation Day. The idea of relaxation was
strengthened when doctor Edmund Jacobson published his medical book Progressive
Relaxation back in the nineteen twenties. The rule of the
day is to avoid doing anything stressful. I saw that,
and I'm like, what the hell am I doing here
this morning? I'm talking about all of this should be
(04:31):
home in bed. I'm not going to do anything stressful,
and I'm sure that goes for everybody else too. Just
even driving to work is stressful, or isn't it. I
was coming down sixty one this morning. There was a
couple of dump trucks with several cars, probably all the
way from Summerville. You know, I live out past P's Ferry,
and so I was turning out. These two dump dump
(04:55):
trucks go by, and then there's a line of cars
behind them. So whenever I see that, I'm like, that's
problem been going on since Summerville, that they were stuck
behind these dump trucks, and then this guy just starts
riding my you know what I mean, one inch off
my rear end. I don't know why he's pushing me
(05:15):
like that. It wasn't me holding up traffic. I was
behind this line of cars and the dump trucks. So
all of a sudden he blasts past me in a
no passing zone and then he jumps out and passes
several cars. And these two dump trucks in a no
passing zone coming down sixty one where the speed limit
in that area is I don't know, thirty five forty,
(05:37):
And then this line of cars follow suit, and these
dump truck drivers they are laying on their horns, and
this whole line of car they're throwing up rocks and dust,
swerving all over the road. There's cars come in the
opposite direction. I mean, there's traffic lights, there's side streets,
and I'm like, this is crazy. So those people definitely
need to practice relaxation this morning. The day promotes stress
(06:01):
relief through meditation and other relaxation techniques. Must have been
a yoga instructor some other hippie type that came up
with the idea for national relaxation Day, right. No, it
was Michigan based Sean Mohler who pitched the idea for
the holiday back in nineteen eighty five when he was
nine years old. So you have to wonder what was
(06:24):
that nine year old kid stressing about so much.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
This is Charleston's Morning News with Kelly and Place. Now
the top three things you should know.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
A new poll shows Kamala Harris is leading or tied
with Donald Trump in all but one swing state. The
survey from the Cook Political Report shows that Harris has
a slight lead over Trump in Arizona, Michigan, North Carolina, Wisconsin,
and Pennsylvania. The two are tied in Georgia, and Trump
holds a slight lead over Harris in Nevada. The poll
(06:57):
found that Harris has gained ground on Trump since the
swing state survey conducted in May, when President Biden was
the presumptive Democratic nominee for the White House. After dumping
torrential rains on parts of Puerto Rico, Hurricane Ernesto is
on the move some six hundred miles south southwest of Bermuda.
(07:18):
It's packing eighty five mile per hour maximum sustained wins
and heading in a northerly direction at thirteen miles per hour.
The long range forecast sees it upgraded from a category
one to a category two hurricane near Bermuda by Saturday.
Ernesto is not expected to make landfall along the US
Atlantic coast Algerian Olympic boxing gold medalist Amani Halif is
(07:43):
naming billionaire Elon Musk and author J. K. Rowling in
a legal complaint. Halif filed the lawsuit in France over
online harassment she faced during the twenty twenty four Paris Olympics.
Her attorney, Naval Booty, told Variety that former President Trump
was also part of the investigation. The lawsuit filed against
(08:03):
Axe accuses Musk and Rowling of committing acts of aggravated
cyber harassment against Halif, allegedly in citing false claims that
the boxer was transgender. This is the same boxer that
has a chromosome problem. You know, she has male chromosomes
and that was a problem for her with the boxing
(08:26):
commission prior to the Olympics. And then you know, this
controversy all blew up about allowing men in women's sports,
and now they're saying no, she's a woman. She's just
a woman with a chromosome problem. But she's so in
Elon Musk and JK. Rowling and former President Trump is
(08:46):
part of that investigation for calling out the wrongness of
allowing men to beat the hell out of women in sports.
So the accusation is that Aamala Harris is just running
away with this election and that Trump is pretty much
given up. So has he stopped fighting? Well, listen to
(09:08):
this ad against Tim Walls, and then you tell.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
Me Tim Walls wants to be a heartbeat away from
commander in chief. But Tim Walls has lied about his
military record for years.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
He dues the rank that he never achieved in order
to advance his political career.
Speaker 3 (09:23):
Willst lyde repeatedly about his.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
Rank retired command sergeant major, retired command sergeant major, command
sergeant major, retired command sergeant major.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
Wells Lyde about being in combat.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
Can make sure that those weapons of war that I
carried in war, that I carried in war.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
Will's dodge deployment by retiring when he knew his National
Guard unit was going to Iraq.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
Everybody knew they were going to train in Glory Rand.
The warning order basically stated it too much later after
he knew it.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
That's when he retired. Walls disparaged Minnesota National Guard soldiers.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
Hearst I requested the National Guard, we're going to have
massively trained troops. No, you're gonna have nineteen year old
George Cooks.
Speaker 3 (09:57):
That same Minnesota National Guard that he did disparaged. Unlike
Walls served heroically in Iraq and Afghanistan. Tim Wallas is
not fit to be anywhere near the office of Commander
in chief. Tim Walls is guilty of stolen valor.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
He abandoned us. You know, I mean, what the hell
kind of leader does that? So? Pretty strong, isn't it?
Does that sound like somebody who's given up the fight
putting out an ad like that, And of course, you
know Tim Walls is the vice presidential candidate. But it
shows what a bunch of liars these people are. We
go from one liar to the next. Joe Biden, the
(10:32):
master liar who wide every time he opened his mouth,
and then now the presidential nomination stolen out from underneath
him and granted to given to, not through a democratic
vote or anything else, just laid out on a platter
(10:53):
for Kamala Harris, who's also a liar, by the way,
because now she's not for any of the things she
was before. Now she's a magically new kind of Democrat
who does not really support all of these just over
the top far left liberal agenda policies. No, never mind
(11:15):
what she said just a short few months ago. Even
that's all, you know. She's a new Democrat now, and
pay no attention to what she said and done in
the past and in her hero this midwestern this midwestern
guy who can relate, you know, to people in flyover country,
(11:39):
Tim Walls, who that ad was just about, we're supposed
to trust them.
Speaker 1 (11:45):
Traffic and weather every ten minutes. This is Charleston This
Morning News with Kelly and Blaze on ninety four to
three WUSC.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
Kelly's out this morning. It's just me Blaze topic of
the show this morning. Are you and all of this?
I was on my way in this morning and listening
to the various news channels, all the political pundits talking
about the ascension of Kamala Harris in the polls and
with the voters. She's number one with a bullet, don't
(12:16):
you know. And before you get all upset for you
lefties out there, that I use that phrase it refers to.
You know, that's what they used to call and still
do for that matter. You know the Billboard Top one
hundred chart. If a song all of a sudden hits
the number one spot and it's still rising, they call
it number one with a bullet. So, according to all
(12:37):
of these political pundits, Kamala Harris has reached the number
one spot, it is still climbing and has knocked Donald
Trump back on his heels. Because she's such a formidable opponent.
Even though nobody voted for her, nobody could really stand her.
Even months ago, Joe Biden was urged to kick her
off of the ticket before they pulled a coup and
(12:57):
installed her as the Democratic nominee. So the question this morning,
buy in all of this good morning blaze, I'd like
to coin a new phrase for the type of government
that Kamala Harris wants to install or put upon us.
Speaker 3 (13:13):
Let's call it kamal Unism.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
Have a great one, all right, you too. Thanks for
the talkback message. By the way, that was on talkback.
If you're listening online, hit that small microphone icon and
you can leave a thirty second message. So Kamaluism or
kamal Unonism. I see what you did there, communism kamal Aluism. Yeah,
(13:37):
so she's proposing price gouge controls on a federal level
against companies, so essentially proposing price controls just like in
socialist countries. And we see how well socialism has worked
in other countries. And socialism, after all, is communism junior.
And we see how well socialism and communism have worked
(13:58):
throughout history, how well it's worked for economies, how it
literally tens of millions, if not hundreds of millions of
people have been murdered under socialism and communism, murdered at
worst and just allowed to die and starve to death
at the least side of the spectrum, be kept down
(14:21):
by it. And this is what the United States is
embracing is some failed political ideology. And Kamala Harris is
the champion of all that because she's a new democrat,
you see. And so what they were saying this morning,
she's a new type of democrat. Kamala is a fresh
new young face, fresh new sixty year old young face
(14:45):
who is a candidate of joy. Yes, she's spreading the joy.
JD called in and he said that when the media
describes the joy that Kamala Harris is spreading and is
brought to the Democratic campaign, he can't help but think
of Joy Reid. And I'm like, JD, I think the
(15:06):
same thing. So whenever they're talking about spreading the joy
and the joy of Kamala Harris, I think of Joy Reid,
who is a nasty lady really, and I mean, I
don't like saying that about people, but she is a hateful,
nasty soul. And JD's like, by the way, she stole
(15:27):
Donald Trump's haircut, which, if you've been paying attention, she
actually ditched that, JD. After she was accused of stealing
Donald Trump's haircut because she was sporting a Donald trumpish,
you know, blonde hairdoo, probably a wig. But anyway, she
(15:50):
ditched it and she's not sporting that look anymore because
she want to be accused of stealing Donald Trump's haircut.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
This is Charleston's Morning News with Kelly and Blaze.
Speaker 2 (16:05):
The founder of famous Amos Cookies has died at the
age of eighty eight. His family says Wallace Wally Amos
Junior died Tuesday as Honolulu Holme from complications of dementia. Amos,
who was born in Tallahassee, Florida, opened the first famous
Amos Cookie shop on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood back in
(16:25):
nineteen seventy five. His cookie brand went on to become
one of the best known names in bake goods. In
a statement, his family said Amos was a great American
success story and a source of Black pride, adding that
they know he would love if you had a chocolate
chip cookie today. So rest in peace, Wally Amos, and
(16:47):
have a cookie in his memory today.
