it like to get that game ceiling deal done?

It was a cool experience, you know, a unique one,
going back playing against all my old friends and a
lot of people I love to this day. And you know,
ending the game in that way, you know that was
nothing but God, bro, he just wanted that to happen
that day.

It was meant to be. It was one of those
things like if you're sitting there and you're watching the game,
I'm like, I already know what's about to happen. Well,
how do you know? I go? Because it's God's playing.
It's God's playing. And you know, Eric there he was
forty nine er sent to Jaguars. Next thing, you know,
got a chance to play against him in the Bay Handle.
Business felt good, didn't it?

It definitely felt good. Getting a win on the road
versus a really good team.

trying to keep it going, got some dogs out here.

I want to talk to you about this because, of
course you played at the University of Oregon Go Ducks.
My daughter played soccer there. She just graduated from the
University of Alabama, had one year left, ended up playing
one more season at Oregon, so I got to spend
some time in Eugene. I do radio in Portland as well.
So you wearing that uniform and being a Duck, what

was it like? Tell us about your experience at Oregon.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
Man, he's talking about the uniform. I got like forty
five jerseys at.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
I know you did, I know you did.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
It was combinations, wasn't it nice? You up? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:50):
I love going to Eugene. I love being in Eugene,
going to Oregon. Right, I had a great experience my
three years there. Wouldn't change when it traded that for
the world. World met so many great relationships and people
I'm still friends with to this day. So, man, I
really enjoyed my time up there.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
Atson Stadium is a special place.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
It is it is. It's a special city, special people,
and they love their ducks. Man.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
I love the fact that they play that animal house.
Speaker 2 (02:17):

Is that one of the best traditions in college football?

I think so.

I think it's uh, you know, everyone got their own
own thing, but that's definitely up there for sure.

And the thing I like about it is the players
that get into it. I mean because you see traditions
in college football and the crowd goes crazy. But not
only do you have the crowd going crazy, but the
players get lit as well.

Yeah, yeah, nah, we really get into it. And you
know it's coming right that fourth quarter hit and you
know what tom it is when that shout come on.

talk about your transition from going to Oregon to now
being in the NFL is.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
A dream of mine, a long time coming, and and
you know, being in the NFL now, that was something
I thought about, you know, since I was a little
kid and so to realize that dream has been amazing.
I'm sure I'm surely still living a dream, bro bless.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
And you know what, talk about your growth, your growth
as a player. Now it seems like what you've come
into your own. But it seems like every year you
get better. What is it during the off season that
you do. What is the mindset that you have, because
you can see the difference between when you left Oregon,
went to the forty nine ers now being with the Jaguars,
it's almost like you have a confidence about yourself. Bro.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
Yeah, I think it's always reinventing yourself, never being satisfied.
Stay hungry, it's never enough. Keep getting better, don't be
content where you're at. You know, you might feel like
you're good enough, but as soon as you feel like
you're good enough, that's when you start to start to
slide back, yeah, and fall off. So I just got

that mindset to keep getting better. I feel like, you know,
my body feels good playing at extremely high level and
just keep it going, bro, Like, just keep trying to
get better and better each off season and refining my
skill set.

And the one thing about you is you give back.
You give back to the community, you make a difference.
What is it like to finally be able to give
back to where you came from, Because I'm sure a
lot of players dream their entire lifetime of wanting to
give back to their communities. And now you're in a
situation where you can.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
Uh, blessed just trying to be a vessel.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
I feel like I have.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
So I've been so blessed throughout my life, so many resources.
It's my duty too to give back to my community
and make sure that young people coming from these communities
have the support they need to be successful in life.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
And now you're working with You're working with Nationwide.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Yes, sir, talk about that.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
Nationwide has been a partner of the NFL Walter pay
Man in the Year War for quite some time now,
and so I've had the opportunity to work with them
for many years, being nominee and then winning the award
last year.

Yeah, and uh, they're the perfect partner for this.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
They've elevated the award, made it the most prestigious award
you can win, es.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
Yes, And you.

Know, corporate partnership is so important in community and impact
work because corp corporations set the framework in the fabric
for community and so we need partnership and we need
corporations who believe in the work that we're doing to
you know, serve people at a higher level.

To have your name tied in with the great Walter Payton,
what does it mean?
Speaker 2 (05:37):
Man? I heard about Walter Payton all throughout my life.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
And being able to meet his family now and see
his legacy living on you see how special he was
and the impact that he had on people. You can
still see that and feel that to this day.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
At what point did you say, you know what, I
can actually do this, I can make it to the NFL.
I mean, was it Pop Warner? Was it high school?
Where did you say, you know what? The light bulb
went off for me?
Speaker 3 (06:09):
It was it was never I mean, it was never
any doubt, to be honest.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
Wow. So at a young age you kind of had
that goal.
Speaker 3 (06:17):
Yeah, this is my goal from a young age. And
from that point it was just checking off boxes of
my goals. I wanted to get a scholarship, got scholarship, okay, now,
you know, I wanted to be you know, an All
American and all those things, and yeah, checking off those
boxes and then getting to college and it's like, Okay,
I want to be a dominant player and then getting

to the NFL same thing.

So all right, one more question. I want to go
back to high school. Give me one high school game
that stays with you in your mind. One high school
game that you completely crushed it and you said to yourself, man,
I'll never forget that game.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
When I played my old when I played my old
high school.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
I went to Pleasant Girl High School. We played Jesuit High.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
School in second and nine to one.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
