about the valley is the valley loves high school football,
not only in the valley. Shout out to my folks
in Riverside that are listening right now. Great programs like
Myriada Valley Centennial, Chaparral, the Puma's out there into Mecula.
And I love the fact that you have someone like
Marcus mcmaron, someone who grew up in the valley, growing

up playing in Danuba, went to Danuba, Hi, went to
Oregon State, went to Fresno State, has the most wins
in Fresno State history. Played a little in the NFL,
the CFL. Here he is giving back with the Athlete
Country Club and he has something real special that he's

You're doing some really cool things with Athlete Country Club.
Of course you're on social media with this, you're doing
the podcast talk about Athlete Country Club and how that's
going to be able to impact the community.

Yeah. No, it's something that's kind of my second chapter,
kind of after football and sports. Obviously kind of having
my run in football at State and a little bit
of the NFL and CFL, but now this is It's
always been a passion project of mine. It's just like, man,
how do I give back to the value? How do
I just share the knowledge that I have and just
information that I wish. I always felt like I was
one or two years kind of behind the curve. So
(01:26):
I'm like, man, if I would have just had a
mentor someone that was in my life to kind of
give me just a little leg up on the competition,
that's really the premise of Athlete Country Club kind of
get everyone around the right people.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
You know, you look at Athlete Country Club and I
think it's a great idea because you hit the nail
on the head. You felt like you were always a
year or two behind the pride of Dai nubahind the MVP,
the Sequoia League MVP, And I think to myself, you know,
you were in Dai Nuba and you had a great
career in high school, but imagine if you were in

the track. Imagine if you were at Kerrent County at
Liberty High. You know, I'm talking about schools where these
programs have tradition and a rich history and there's money
invested into the kids. My people at Centennial High and
Corona know what I'm talking about. You guys get the
benefits of that. All the schools in the track, whether
(02:19):
it's Fresno or Clovis, can't forget about Central East. There's
a lot of benefits to go into schools like that
Saint Mary's in Stockton, where you don't get that in
say an Exeter or even a Fireball. I mean, when
you see some of the superstar talent that has come
out of a Fireball, a Da Nuba like yourself, you're right,
(02:39):
Imagine if they had some of the knowledge starting in
eighth grade, ninth grade that you're willing to share right
now with Athlete Country Club.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
Yeah, one hundred percent. And that's again, that's the whole
premise of what we're trying to do, because I mean,
it pays to have that proximity. You know, there are
and I was very in tune and fortunate that my
parents understood, Hey, we got to get you to Law Angeles.
We got to get you to Sacramento to just exposure alone.
I mean, I always knew I was a fairly good athlete,
and I was never turned to by eye to that.
But then you go out to these Clovis events, these
(03:10):
Fresno events, these LA events, and you're like, hey, wait
a minute, Like I'm a diamond dozen now you know,
it's like I'm good, I'm talented, but there's got to
be something more outside of the field, outside of the classroom,
Like I got to be all around, and when coaches
come recruit me out of a small town, I can't
give them a single reason to look the other way
because like, hey, well I could just get someone who's
the same skill set as you. At a Clovis North,
(03:32):
We're at a Clovis West. We're at a bigger square
out of central to where it's like I have to
make sure, hey, my grades were in line and everything
I was respectful, and there's just a lot more things
that you got to have lined up and all your
ducks in a row.

The one thing I do enjoy about Athlete Country Club
is you go above and beyond to get some of
the guests that you have. We're not talking about Hey,
I'm just talking to someone that saw me grow up
in middle school that kind of helped me along the way.
We're talking about top notch NFL in college coaches, some
(04:04):
people that have mentored you. You've spoken to in Athlete
country club. Talk about that.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
Yeah, No, it's been amazing. I mean we kind of
launched my podcast. The first guest I reached out to
is none other than I mean Kayln Vore is the
head coach of Alabama. And it's even weird for me
to say now just having conversations and going back and
forth and texting him and I kind of just have
starstruck moments sometimes I'm like, what the heck is going
on here? Like he's the head coach of Alabama, Like
what is going on here? But to us, it's just like, hey,
(04:30):
he's my coach, and I'm sort of get addressed him
as coach. And obviously we've had Derek Carr's been on
the podcast, but even just I'm trying to keep it
very Central Valley centric. I mean, we've had guys like
Mark Casher on the podcast and Quincy Pontdexter, and I
know we've kind of had some communication back forth, like
Sloan Stevens, and we're trying to just get the most
notable names in the valley, but it's also across the
(04:52):
nation and just bringing the most relevant information I possibly
can to the audience set's listening.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
And I love this because this sho is on in Stockton,
where you have Saint Mary's High School, This show is
on in Modesto, Turlock. You get people from Pittman High School,
this show is on in Riverside Centennial High School. Can't
forget about my folks at Chaparral, Beaumont, the Cougars out there.
This is all information that can be used. And yes
(05:18):
you are in the Central Valley, and yes you do
talk to the schools in Bakersfield and Fresno, but this
is knowledge that could be used from the Ie all
the way through Sacramento and maybe even someone that's listening
at Grant High School right now.

One hundred percent. And I think that it's really anyone
who has aspirations of playing at the next level, and
whether that next level is college football for you, or
at the next level is you going from college to
mature into the NFL. It's it's just kind of the
growing pains that I went through that I wish someone
could have just told me. I mean, we're grew up
in a middle class family. We didn't just have expendable
money to throw around at different camps, but we did,
(05:54):
I mean spend our fair share of thousands and thousands
of dollars on things that looking back, I'm like, Wow,
that was a waste of money. We did not have
to do that at all. And if someone could have
just told me, hey, go directly to the camps where
college coaches are president and just about everything else general
we're looked on at least, is that's where you're going
to get the most bang for your buck, where someone
has the authority to offer you a scholarship on the

spot if they fell in love with you.

I want you to talk about something that I'm honored
that I had the sneak peak to see. It's called
the Audible, and the Audible is a very cool, in
depth look at some high school programs throughout the Central Valley.
What made you come up with the audible the idea
behind it, because I think it's genius.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
Yeah, thank you, No, I appreciate it. Man, And you're
one of the credible names that I wanted to get
behind it and just to check it out and see
if we're heading kind of heading the right direction, and
just kind of your response. It made me feel really good,
just at a deep level that I'm like, man, we're
doing the right thing here. But the audible is really
it's been a passion project in mind for a really
long time. In this act of just I could look
(07:00):
back at all of my time keeps and videos and
things and just shout out to the social media team
at Fresno State. When I was at Oregon State of
like video coverage. I always joke with my daddy talks
about how he was a really good quarterback as well
in high school and college, but he's got to pull
out the newspaper clippings, you know. I'm like, Hey, I'm
so glad when I get to talk to my kids
one day, I'm like, hey, nope, just look me up

on Google. It's all there, you know. So I have
kind of that information and stuff they could actually look
up and watch, and just realizing that not every athlete's
going to get to experience that. Some athletes have incredible
high school careers and then unfortunately that's where they're playing
days stop, and I just felt they deserve someone to
kind of capture that, just the work they're putting in
an off season, the culture they're building, and kind of
(07:41):
just the life lessons that they're learning in high school
that are going to carry with them throughout the rest
of their lives. Someone should be able to capture that
for them.

Yeah, I love it. I love it, and I don't
want to give away too much, but I want people
to know that when these episodes drop, when you have
an opportunity to watch the Audible and going from school
to school and just kind of getting some of the
behind the scenes looks at the communities, the football programs,
what goes on and the dedication that is put forth,

I think you'll be blown away and you'll be ready
for Friday Night Lights coming up this fall. Marcus, Before
