Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ck on Sports. It is Fox Sports Radio. We're very
excited for the World Cup to get underway. And for
everyone that listens to this show, you know, this show
was on in multiple markets, Riverside, San Bernardino, Bakersfield, Stockton, Modesto,
and Fresno. So to finally get a player from Fresno
to make it to the World Cup in Max Arston,

(00:22):
that's a big deal. And right now we're talking about
the World Cup, we're talking about Max Arpsten, a lot
of things soccer with Mason Gonzalez. How are you doing, sir.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
I'm doing great, man, Thank you for having me on.
I'm excited to be here. We're excited for the World Cup.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
See you got that number eighteen, Max Arston, Jersey On
very cool.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
Yes, sir, yes, sir. We gotta wrap our Central Valley guy.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
First of all, let's talk about Max Arsten. The fact
that he was named to the World Cup team. What
a great honor that is. Shout out to Lynn Williams,
by the way, who when you think about soccer players
on the national level, Lynn Williams from Bullard High School
definitely one that paved the way. But we've never had
a male national team member make it to the World

(01:01):
Cup from Fresno. The fact that Max Arsten was the
first talk about that.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
Yeah, man, that is amazing.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
I mean, there has been some players that you have
come through the ranks and have paved the way for sure,
and shout out Lynn. She's a great inspiration to too
many athletes around here. But Max is doing something special
right now. Man. He's putting on for for not just
the city of Fresno, but the whole Central Valley. I mean,
he's he's up there with the best of the best, man,
and it is such a such a blessing to be

(01:28):
able to watch him do his thing and play at
that top level, and it gives it gives hope to
every kid around here. Man, it gives hope to understand
that you know, the sky's the limit and that you
can go play for the national team, even coming from
the Central Valley.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
And the one thing I'm gonna say before we go
any further, because I'm gonna say this multiple times, there
is gonna be a watch party for every game at
Dave and Busters, a USA watch party at Dave and
Busters and Fresno for every game. We want to make
sure that you're out there it's gonna be a great time.
There's gonna be giveaways, and of course we're celebrating the
fact that Max is on the men's national team playing

(02:04):
in the World Cup. And you know the place is
gonna erupt once Max gets into the match.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
You know, oh for sure, man, it's gonna be lit.
It's gonna be let.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
People are gonna be out there. Man, We're gonna have
a great time. And so yeah, please come out, Please
come out, bring your kids, bring your family. It's gonna
be in a great, great atmosphere and we're just excited
to celebrate, celebrate. Not only you know, the World Cup
happens every once in four years, but it's it's in
our home country. It's in our home country, and we
have a guy from here that's that's gonna play.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
He's gonna play.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
He is gonna play. We know he's going to get in.
It's just when is it gonna happen. At what point
of the game is he gonna get in there? I mean, shoot,
he might start.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
He could yeah, start, he could number eighteen, Yes, sir,
let's go on, man, come on. It's so it's so cool, man,
it's so cool to see him and to watch him
grow as a player and now to have this, this
stage and this opportunity to shine as amazing man.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Talking about players that have come from Fresno, whether it's
Elijah Martin, whether it's Christian Cheney, whether it's Villian who
is now the head coach at Clovis North. Congratulation to Vilion.
Going back to Clovis North and being the head coach there.
You think about the players that have come before him.
But what makes Max so special?

Speaker 3 (03:15):
Oh? Man?

Speaker 2 (03:16):
I mean, this guy is ruthless one on one. He's
so shifty, he's he's a left footed player, but he
is just as good with his right and I am
Landon Donovan talked about it.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
He was saying, hey, man, how are you so like?

Speaker 2 (03:31):
You usually see a right footed player that can use
his left, but very rarely do you see somebody that
is just as good with his right as his left.
And Max has that. He has both. He has both feet.
He's dynamic. I mean, the kid is a special man.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
He's special.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
He works hard, he works hard.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
He has a great engine.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
Yeah, he's been working hard ever since he was a
young boy. I remember him playing at California Odyssey.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
Yep. PDP.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
The kid was a stud.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
Yep, and under UC Davis. I mean, we were fortunate
enough to see a lot of each other, even when
COVID had happened, and and then from their earthquakes, and
then Bang drafted to Columbus Crew, and man, he's just
he's taken every opportunity, man, and he seized it, you know,
And that's that's that's a big part of it.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
I love the fact that we were able to say,
starting at California Odyssey, that's a big deal. Playing through
California Odyssey Memorial High school dreams can come true.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
Yeah, yeah, man, I mean California Odyssey. I was I
was fortunate enough to be at the club as well.
But I mean they do great things. Man, they have
a great platform. I mean there's there's a ton of
clubs around the area, but it is super special, super
special to to have you know, Max be this you
know image image and and person that you guys can

(04:47):
look up to, any kid can look up to. Man,
I mean it means a little bit more. Yeah, you know,
it means a little bit more because I mean you
have athletes that play pro you know, from Fresno State
and whatnot. You got the Paul Georgia's you got the jailing.
I mean, Jayleen Green's a good example as well, something
for kids to strive for. But man, I mean, this
is the biggest stage.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
You know what.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
I love. I love the fact that Max wants to
give back. I love the fact that Max gets to
the Columbus crew, makes it to the national team, and
the one thing he thinks about and cares about is
coming back home doing camps, helping out others and showing
everyone the dream that he lived that he's living right now.

(05:27):
You could do the same thing. I love that.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
I mean the kid, he cares about his community. He
cares about his community. Anytime he's in town, he's asking, hey, man, like,
are there any camps or anything?

Speaker 3 (05:37):
Can we do an event?

Speaker 2 (05:38):
Can can I Can I get my face out in
front of the kids, in front of the community. And
so he's really, really, uh you know, passionate about giving
back to this community, which is which is awesome. And
I think that we as a community got to show
it back to him. Yeah, we got to be out here.
We got to support him. You know, if you're if
you're watching the game, you know, tag him. He enjoys it,

(06:00):
and so that's that's a big part of it.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
That's a great idea. Get out to David Busters, watch
the game, have a great time as we're watching the game.
Tag Max. I mean, he's not gonna respond to you, obviously,
but you know what, what a great feeling that would
be after the match is over to kind of see
everyone's been tagging you in different posts and saying, hey,
we're watching, we're supporting, we're from the five to five nine,

(06:23):
you know what. Follow Max on Instagram and all of
his social media right now. Yeah, so that way we
can show him love as the World Cup is going on.
First of all, I need to know where'd you get
the jersey?

Speaker 3 (06:34):
I love that. I love that.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
Oh yeah, man, I mean this is this is Max's jersey.
I had a little bit of info. I got it,
you know, the number, and then I ordered it myself.
But but you know, maybe hopefully who knows, I get
a game one one that's legit right there. Yeah. Yeah,
so but yeah, man, I mean, if you guys come
out to the watch party, tag him, uh tag tag Max.

(06:56):
It's at Max Rstin on Instagram. But yeah, man, show
him love.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
He enjoys it. He enjoys it and he loves to
give back.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
You know, we're talking to Mason Gonzales and before we
let you go, I mean, we're talking about Max and
we want you to be at the watch party that's
going to be taking place at David Busters. But you
know what I mean, I gotta give you props as well.
You've been doing a great job. I believe the Residency
Camp is going to be coming up.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
I appreciate that, yeah, man, I mean the Resident Camp.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
Residency Camp is a you know, a player immersive series
that I'm putting on with a couple other guys that
I'm known for a really long time, you know, that
are in the same space as me. We just want
to give back and put on a event that, you know,
something that maybe we wish we had grown up. Yeah,
you know, and maybe it wasn't too It wasn't there

(07:41):
when we were there. But hopefully we're able to put
together this camp June sixteenth, seventeen eighteenth.

Speaker 3 (07:46):
It's going to be at Clovis North. You know, if
you guys are.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
Looking to register, it's at Fearless AST on Instagram, Okay,
and you guys will find a link there. But yeah, man,
We're just hopefully put a high level camp for a
bunch of kids, man, and just hopefully they fall in
love with the game.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
Talk about Fearless AST.

Speaker 2 (08:06):
Yeah, so, Fearless AST is a vision, a brand that
I have come up with to give opportunities to kids
that want to better themselves in all aspects. You know,
we grow in our faith, we grow in our game,
and we grow as a person. And that's the three

(08:28):
biggest takeaways that I could really really say. I get
to work with a ton of athletes. I'm fortunate enough
to work with Max when he comes in what comes
into town.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
But I'm also you know, I.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
Work from six year old, say eighteen year olds, and man,
I'm so blessed. I'm so blessed to be able to
have a hand on these kids in their development.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
You know what.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
I love the fact that you're doing that. I was
happy to see that your social media was blowing up.
I saw that you were getting to that goal of
a thousand. You reach that goal of a thousand, and
it continues to grow. And I think the best part
about it is this, there's a lot of very talented
kids here in the Central Valley. I'm proud of what
Max has done. I'm proud of what Lynn has done.
I'm proud of what Anissa Guhardo has done. I'm proud

(09:12):
of what Milton did prior to them. I'm proud of
so many different players. I can keep naming players. They
help lead the way for even my daughters who ended
up playing one at San Jose State the other one
at Alabama. I look at it and I go, this
is what's needed. And we didn't have those opportunities growing up,
and even my children didn't have those opportunities when they
were coming up through California. Honesty, you name it. You

(09:35):
going above and beyond and showing the kids the different
levels of the game from a very personal, one on
one aspect. I think it's great. And that's why I
wanted to make sure that you talked about the residency,
and I wanted to make sure that you talked about
Fearless as well.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
I appreciate that, man, I mean yeah, I mean you
understand it. I think you hit it right on its head.
There is so much talent here in the valley and
we can always talk about it, and sometimes I think
it falls through the cracks, and so our job, I
think my job or my calling is hopefully that there's
a little less people that fall through the cracks. Yeah,
you know, there's a couple more bigger names that come through,

(10:11):
and hopefully you know there's another Max Arson sometime soon.
I can't I can't put it really into words of
how much it means to me and the impact that
I'm trying to have on the kids, but hopefully, hopefully
it is changing their lives.

Speaker 3 (10:29):
Man.

Speaker 1 (10:29):
All right, so before we let you go, let's talk
about it Friday June twelfth, Friday June nineteenth, then again
on the twenty fifth. Here's the way I feel about this.
I think the USA is gonna have a great match
against Paraguay. I think that we get that job done.
I think the same with Australia. Turkey AA is gonna
be a bit of a problem, but hopefully at that

(10:50):
point we've already secured enough points where we feel like
we're gonna get through. Turkey A is gonna get through.
And it's just academic, But that's kind of the way
I'm looking at this. And yes, I want everybody daven
Busters in Fresno Friday, six pm kickoff, right set.

Speaker 3 (11:07):
I believe seven pm po So wait, so be there.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
So get there around six yep, and then seven pm
kick it's gonna be a good time.

Speaker 3 (11:14):
You're right, six pmkoff?

Speaker 1 (11:15):
Okay, So six pm kickoff daven Busters. So that means
get there like around five five thirty. There's gonna be
a lot of giveaways. It's gonna be an event and
we want everyone out there. But I'm curious to get
your breakdown. You heard my thoughts. Pedaguay, Australia both dubs
and then the Turkey A is gonna be who gets
to be the team that moves out as the top

(11:36):
team and then who's gonna be the renner up right?

Speaker 2 (11:38):
Yeah, I think you're I think you're headed head on.
I think we definitely win the first game. I think
that our boys have been flying. Yeah, it looked great
even though the result didn't go our way against Germany,
we looked really good. And so yeah, I definitely think
we beat Paraguay. I think we beat the soccer ruse
and then Turkey A. Man, I mean it's just gonna
come down to, you know, who wants to come up
on top of the group. And then from there, you know,

(12:01):
you kind of spoke about it. It's just who we
match up against who are matchups and I mean we're solid, man.

Speaker 3 (12:07):
We have a good defense.

Speaker 2 (12:08):
I think pauc is doing a good job with the boys,
giving him a little bit of creativity up top.

Speaker 3 (12:13):
And we have dynamic players, man.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
Yeah, especially Max, especially Max Arston. The jersey that you're
wearing today, shout out to Max Arpsten, a kid from
saan Juaque Memorial that played California Odyssey. I mean, this
is dreams come true. Like I remember the time of
him growing up through California Odyssey because again, both my
daughters played it Odyssey before they ended up venturing out.

(12:36):
But I do remember Max, and I remember the quality
player he was. I think at that time, a lot
of eyes were on Yuli, A lot of people were
watching Yuli at that time. But Max was a little
bit younger, I want to say, maybe a year or
two younger.

Speaker 3 (12:50):
I believe you're right.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
Yeah, and he but he was a stud.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
Yeah, man, he was a stud. Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
I got to see him when he's a little kid,
and obviously he's grown up man, and he's just blossomed
to to the star player.

Speaker 3 (13:01):
Man racing it. I love it.

Speaker 1 (13:03):
So we're excited. We want everyone to be at daven
Busters again. The first match is gonna be Friday, kickoff
six pm. Parents, as soon as you get off work,
go grab the kids, get down there. Davin Buster is
gonna be popping on Friday, and we want to be
there for the first World Cup match for USA, for
Max Arsten, Mason Gonzalez. Thank you so much for your time.

(13:24):
We truly appreciate you.

Speaker 2 (13:25):
Thank you, thank you. See Ka, I appreciate you having
me on. I'll see all you guys on Friday five thirty.
Daven Busters Like he's saying giveaways at halftime, giveaways before
for the kids. It's gonna be a great time once again.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
That is the daven Busters in Fresno. Ck on Sports,
it is Fox Sports Radio. Can't wait for the World
Cup to get underway.
