Speaker 1 (00:00):
Corpus, Christy's Classic Kids Big ninety three to nine. Hey,
it's hit Man with you. And you know it's coming
up again, the PBR Velocity Tour that's coming up as
part of buck Days here at the Hilliard Center. It's
happening on May first and May second. Tickets are still
available right now ticketmaster dot com and of course at
the box office. And I have on the phone right
now Marcus Mass. Hey, he was the twenty twenty five
Pendleton Whiskey Velocity Tour champion from last year. How are

(00:24):
you doing, sir?

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Very good? How about you?

Speaker 1 (00:25):
So I am doing so well? So how has been
the tour been so far?

Speaker 2 (00:30):
Oh it's been good. It's got typical ups and downs,
but nothing bad enough that I can complain about it,
not that it would help anyway.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
So you've had, you've messed over one hundred and fifty
five rides over the coor course of your career and
you're actually aiming to pick up that fifteenth career event
win and become the second PWVT champion title here in Corpus.
How's that been going so far?

Speaker 2 (00:53):
Oh? You know, I mean you got your ups and
downs and got a little bumps and bruises along the way,
but alway always can do it's the best we can
and try it and turn your fails around into winds
and keep on keep them on the right path.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
So if nobody has ever been to a bull riding event,
what can people expect?

Speaker 2 (01:13):
It'll be a lot of excitement, edgery, sitting on the
edge of your seat, and hopefully many great rides that'll
be fun watching.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
So what made you get into bull riding? Oh?

Speaker 2 (01:23):
I grew up on a little dairy farm. I'mish terry
farm and had a friend of mine rode bulls for
a little while. When I turned sixteen, I thought I
had I had to try it too. So we're about
twelve thirteen years down the road and we're still trying.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
To How do you feel after it's Is it eight
seconds that you have to be on the bull? Yes, sir,
So how what's the feeling like? What's the Is it
like you're adrenaline going like full blown tilt boogie when
you when you after the eight seconds.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
On that bull?

Speaker 1 (01:53):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Yeah, for sure, I mean that's that's what we live
off of. You know, we're all we're all adrenaline junkies.
But the best feeling about it, or does it gives
it feeling like you just conquered the world.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
You know what's funny is that I actually knew somebody
who was a rodeo clown for bull riders and uh,
and he would tell me that it was, Yeah, the
adrenaline rush. It lasted for hours, especially once you get
off the bull and then the bull starts chasing you.
Has that ever happened to you? Oh?

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Yeah, man, for sure. Uh, there's all the possibility of
it happened every time you get off the one. So
the most anglous part ain't the riding part. That's getting
off part.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
Wow. Yeah, we're talking with Marcus Masdier, who's the twenty
twenty five Pilton Whiskey Velocity Tour Champion, And we'll be
here again at the Hilliards Center coming up on May
first and May second. Now, of course, you know, of course,
of all bull riders, and probably you can go into detail,
a lot of a lot of bull riders get injured.
So I mean, what's the worst that's happened to you?

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Oh, i'd probably three years ago. I guess I don't
know for sure which one was worse. I know which
one lasted longer. It took longer to recover from. But
I got stepped on on the side of my throat
neck area and got my throat gripped open. Fortunately that
only took a month to recover from that. But two months,

(03:15):
two months, two days late after that accident, landed wrong
and broke my lower back and that took me eight
months to come back from that.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
And you still do it? What What have you ever
thought like after this? You are, after a major injury,
you were like, Okay, that's it, I have to stop.
Have you ever thought that?

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Yeah? I mean, I think it all goes through our mind,
you know, after I made or injury like that. But
we're I guess our brains are wired a little different
than most people's brains are, and we can go through
something like that and we still come back say we
want more.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
So, so what is it? What's I know? Some of
the bulls have some of the craziest names. What are
what are some of the names that you can remember
off the top of your head of some of the
names of the bulls.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
Oh, I mean, it's probably probably one of the most
famous bulls I've ever road. They called whoop Ba. Really
he was not named after a guy that I guess
said whoop bo a lot like when he got excited,
he'd say whoop bob.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
That's crazy. Wow. We're talking with Marcus Masty from the
PBR Velocity Tour. It's going to be great. Do you
have any advice for anybody who wanted to start bull riding? Uh?

Speaker 2 (04:20):
Go, go find you a good little practice ben, and
get your rope and try try your best, and keep
a leg on each side and hang on for dear
life because it's gonna be the ride of it.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
Wow.

He's going to be there also, and a lot of

Speaker 1 (04:53):

us today and looking forward to seeing you this weekend.
