50's Slang & Societal Norms

What slang didn't make it out of the 50's? Dangerous Dave talks about a list from a publication of words we don't use. Plus, societal norms we are ditching in 2026.

Slip deeper in the din with Dangerous Day. Yesterday we
talked about the long lasting power of the word cool,
how it's been used for over one hundred years. So
what slang word have you never made in the past
year or two or even longer. A post going viral
of a bunch of teens slang from nineteen fifty four,

and I can definitely see why. Bad dad from bagdad
a guy who thinks he's tough. A fluky is a jerk.
If you're at the movies, it's called a heclathon. And
a flip lips a person who makes wise cracks. The
only slang on the first list people still use today.
The word square is still on there, which is a
person that back then they said you don't like. Now

it's more of a nerd type of thing. I've been
called square, but if we really look at me, I'm
more round deeper in the somebody on Reddit asked, what
societal norm do you decide to stop abiding? Buy? Apparently
people are done doing what's expected to them. Some of

twenty six include I no longer eat three meals a
day at standard times. I eat when I'm hungry, and
I don't call out a specific time. Not having an
expensive wedding we bought a house instead. I agree with
that one. My husband and I have separate bedrooms and
we have for years. We get the best sleep. I
have really good friends that do that, and they said, yes,
they sleep a lot better. And I know that because

I've had the one friend up at the lake fishing
and heasnores. I often sit on the train with my
phone in my pocket, no air pods, and just stare
up the window. If I firmly believed bloredom is an
enriching experience. Other societal norms that people are ditching in
twenty twenty six saying bless you when people sneeze, like,
what are we doing? Does it need to be acknowledged.
I'll always do that, or I'll say you're so good looking.

very very much a man. I sit when ipe y,
I stand all the time during the day. I've stopped
thinking I can only eat breakfast food for breakfast. And
this was a big thing in my family, having breakfast

I don't care if my fitted sheets are wrinkled. Yeah,
we try. We start to fold them and pretty soon
