Speaker 1 (00:00):
A good friend that I have from Iowa with an
amazing company from Iowa. It's joining us on the phone line.
His name is Don Van Howling and he is with
van Wall Equipment, one of which is right here in
the Omaha area. And Don, great to speak with you again.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Well it's been a while since we've talked, Hemory, but
great to hear your voice. I'm so proud of your
success and what you've been doing. Any anyhow, way to go,
young man.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
Hey man, I really appreciate it, and a lot of
it has to do with you. You were a great
supporter of me when I first got my first weekend show,
and that meant a lot to me at the time.
And it's the only reason I got here is because
I had the opportunity to do that. So thank you
very much for that. I gotta tell you one of
my favorite things to talk about is lawn care and
(00:48):
things in regards to people's land and their property because
I'm so dumb at it, I'm so bad at it.
I come from a very honest perspective and that's what
you guys do a van Wall Equipment more than anything
is you help people who have specific needs for whatever
their land is this is a pretty good time of
the year for people to be popping into Vanwell.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
Equipment right, absolutely, there's no question about it. We support
and promote John Deere all the way.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
And I look here, you know, at the temperatures rising,
I have some holes to fill in. I got my
first mo which is going to be coming up here
very shortly, very soon. What would be some of the
tips before we get into some of the real great
equipment that you guys have available at van Wall Equipment
and get details on where this store is here in Omaha.
But what would be some of the early tips in
(01:42):
the spring that you think don of ways that people
should kind of approach lawn care as the grass starts
to come back to life.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
Well, I think number one, you want to make sure
your pre emerge chemicals on as well as your fertilizer early.
Today is not too early, and it's not too late.
I actually mine was put on yesterday.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
We want to get ahead of those weeds. We want
to get ahead of the growth opportunity that the soils
and the graphses are going to have. So now it's
the perfect time to get your pre emergent and your
fertilizer on I know a lot of people do it themselves.
That's great. And if you don't have a LNG cair
(02:32):
company that you signed up with, you want to get
that done because if you don't start off early and
get ahead of it, it'll always stay ahead of you.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Ye's a really good point. Don Van Howling from Van
Wall Equipment joining us here today the Vanwall Equipment store
by the way in Omaha. For those who are like
I've seen that before. Of course you have right along
Industrial Road on ninety two Highway ninety two and you
might be saying, is that my Millard? Yes, it's by Millard,
the Millard School District there. And don you mentioned it'll
(03:05):
stay ahead of you if you don't catch onto it
pretty quickly. That's one thing that you guys do in
the store too, Right, you got the great equipment, but
you've got experts that are going to be able to
help people with specific problems in their yards.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
Yeah, that's correct, you know. And you know if you
want a beautiful yard, you've got to cut the grass well.
And so you know, so many people don't understand how
important sharp blades are. And so you know, the number
one even if you do stuff I like to do
a lot of your stuff at home. Get into that
(03:37):
mower deck, look at those blades and say to yourself, hey,
are they prestine? Are they really nice? Do they need
Some of them can be starpened, and some of them
need replaced. But blades number one because that also puts
an extra load on the engine and on the drive
train when they're not. But let's get those blades sharp.
Let's make sure that that it's been inspected, make sure
(04:01):
it's ready to go. You know, we do hundreds of
them every winner, and you know, if yours hasn't been done, hey,
you know, just give our folks there a call and
we'll get your lined up and we'll get yours in
and we'll get it taken care of. But on your own,
make sure those blades are ready. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
It's one of the other things too that I learned
when I got my first mower from Vanwall Equipment, when
I got bought my first house a few years ago,
was hey, you really want to make sure that you
get a good servicing done and make sure that everything
is pristineing up to good shape. But it's not just
the mowers that you have there done another thing that
you told me it would be really good for my
(04:38):
property and ended up being a lifesaver for the way
that I need to do my lawn is to have
a really good trimmer as well to get the edges.
Very well, you guys have all those things available as well.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Right well, you know, steel is number one when it
comes to handheld equipment. There's nothing even close that German
engineering American manufacturing, German engineering combination. That's a big winner.
So it doesn't make any different whether you want a blower,
or you want a trimmer, or you want a hedgecut
or whatever. Steel is number one, and we have a
(05:08):
complete selection of those. Walk in you get what you want.
They got a special battery free battery promotion going on
right now. That's really neat to have that extra battery.
So if you happen to get in a situation where
it takes extra time you didn't get a chance to charge,
that's wonderful to have. So this is a great time
to get updated on either electric or gas powers. Steel
(05:31):
equipment all the way from chainsaws to weed trimmors to
leaf flowers.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
Yeah, and I have myself a trimmer like a weed
trimmer electric and that thing works so well. It's really
awesome that it's super lightweight and very easy to handle them.
Like you said, having another battery'd be really handy there
as well. Last thing before I let you go today, Don,
and I'm so excited for nice weather out You're definitely
going to want to make sure that long looks good though. Well,
(05:58):
how can people learn more about what you do with
van wall equipment here in the Omaha area, and if
they're listening to us anywhere in Western I where there's
plenty of stores that are going to be within driving distance.
Where can people learn more about what you guys.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
Do well work temple Man vanwall dot com. There's where
it all is, your places to click on whatever you want,
whichever location you want, whoever you want to talk to

Howling would take good care vanwall dot com by the way.
Fantastic work that they do, and they've been a huge
asset to me, not just in my radio career, but
also in making sure I can learn how to be
a good homeowner. Bottom line, it's not as easy as
it looks. People. Wait, I'm preaching to the crowd here.
This is not the people in the audience. It's like, yes, son,
(06:58):
I knew it wasn't good easy. You gotta learn these
things anyway. Great hearing from Don Van Howling Van wall Equipment,
and again the address to that thing that store here
in Omaha thirteen seven forty seven Industrial Road. If you
think about where Millard is located, and it's right along
West Nebraska ninety two out there in West oh really

Deere sign next to it, So check that out. Two
forty five is the time. We're real thankful to have
