Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is fifty plus with Doug Pike.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Helpful information on your finances, good health, and what to

Speaker 1 (00:25):
And now fifty plus with Doug Pike. All right, let's
try it, shall we. They're always poor cal He doesn't
realize how many times there are grimlins in these machines.
But they're here, and they're real, and on the weekends
they are especially unfriendly when they latch onto the boards
over there. I don't know. He's probably got one hundred

(00:47):
and fifty buttons on his board over here. I only
have four, and I really don't use one of them.
So Welcome to Friday, which is going to play out
pretty much as a carbon copy of Thursday and Wednesday,
and then looking forward probably of the coming weekend and
Monday and probably Tuesday of next week. For those of
you who are new to South Texas, Like I've always said,

(01:08):
we're in what I call it a weather rut and
as warm and muggy and as miserable. It may be
that's better than at least one atmospheric alternative this time
of year. So be very very specific if you start
wishing for the weather to change, because you I'm sure

(01:30):
your mother's told you this before, maybe your grandmother, be
careful what you wish for, because you just might get it.
And for the record, so I'm not scared anybody. Nothing
currently on the National Hurricane Center map, and I don't
think there's anything expected for at least another week. Then
after that, who knows. Thank goodness for the Saharan dust.
If you don't like Saharan dust, if it bothers you

(01:52):
that you your car doesn't look perfectly shiny all the
time just because of this Saharan dust, make sure you
understand that dust is what keeps storms from forming out
in the ocean. So I'll take the dust. Talked about
that yesterday, turning the corner walking down Main Street. Stocks
lost a little momentum early on news of some open

(02:14):
ai IPO delay. How that works is above my pay grade, though,
so I'm not going to try to explain that I
did see just a little while ago though that at
least I think two of the four and maybe three
of the four indicators I watch were back in the green.
So all's well, that ends. Well, We've got gold. Gold
came up more than thirty dollars an ounce and was

(02:36):
at four thy one hundred and five dollars per ounce
around eleven thirty. And then finally to oil, all the
increased movement of oil, millions of barrels of oil moving
through that straight of hor moves again helped pull oil
down again, currently trading it slightly less than sixty nine dollars.

(02:57):
It was sixty eight ninety or sixty eight ninety something
like that. We are very close to and it's gonna
take some time. Well, we'll get the prices down, and
I'm gonna talk a little bit more about that later.
From the I found this very interesting this morning from
the New Books desk comes one that's certain to send
chills down Democrats, spines former Democrat fundraiser Lindsey Lee, who

(03:22):
switched parties actually when warning signs about former President Joe
Biden went unheeded. She has written a book called Unburdened
that she says, we'll share exactly who knew what when
about Biden's cognitive decline, all of whom pretended it wasn't real.
According to Lee, there were plenty of people who saw

(03:43):
what was happening with our former president knew the decline
was serious, but remained fully on his side in public,
which was, well, you know how they are. According to Lee,
powerful democrats saw and realized what was happening, but they
couldn't speak out because they were scared of being ostracized

(04:03):
and losing whatever power they held at the time. Also
in the book, accounts of discussions that reveal Kamala Harris
was actually considered the weakest of all the potential replacements
when they had to scramble and pull Joe back away
from reelection. Scummy time in American history, really, and we're

(04:27):
still smelling a lot of what they did wrong to
this country. Going back to the view which I brought
up yesterday a little bit, it's getting pretty hard looks
from the FCC for allegedly not providing equal time when
it comes to political guess and content. And co host
Sonny Hoston caught heat recently on social media for her

(04:47):
very factually flawed recollection of the facts in the Carmelo
Anthony case. And not to be outlefted the Queen Bee
in that crazy Hive, Whoopie Goldberg actually said this week
that quote, no one unwants voter ID laws end quote.
She actually said that out loud when poll after polls
show that every one of these polls that's been taken

(05:11):
in the last i don't know, six eight months, maybe
a year, eighty percent of Americans, not just Republicans, but
eighty percent of all Americans want to make sure that
votes cast in our national elections are cast only by Americans.
Then she doubled down on making a false claim by
saying that about half of America would be prevented from

(05:32):
voting if the Save Act is signed. That's ludicrous, that's
absolutely ridiculous. It's impossible except for one, maybe one thing
she's talking about, because when she said half of America
would be prevented, she didn't say half of American citizens.
That might have been a very clever way to dodge

(05:55):
the obvious untruth and just away the fact that she's
talking about non Americans if the Save Act is signed,
a lot of non Americans who planned on voting, who
maybe got a pack of cigarettes for their vote or whatever.
Those people maybe she's counting them, Maybe she's counting him them.

(06:19):
That whole clown show of a TV show has been
lying so long they've convinced themselves there right. Further, she
shows her ignorance of federal procedure, by the way, by
saying that no one this is another direct quote, no
one wants to sign this bill end quote, when in fact,
there's only one person who signs bills, and that's the

(06:41):
President of the United States. The Congress can vote on them,
but they don't sign them. How that show remains viewable,
How the view remains viewable. It's just beyond me. Eighty
percent of Americans want this bill to pass. They want
it to pass. Holy cow, been yapping for longer than
I thought. Eighty percent of us, even lots of Democrats,

(07:04):
recognize the importance of not allowing foreign citizens to influence
our elections. But not the cackling hens. Oh no, no, no, no.
Maybe clueless, but maybe also more likely useful idiots being
played by folks with either even greater influence than they
They they'll say whatever they're told to say. I do

(07:25):
believe I think some of them not. I think Woopy
will speak her mind. I think she's pretty, she's been
around the block a few times. She and she's not
scared to express her opinions. But I think the others
might be getting a little coaching to throw out some
of the things they say. Either that or they're just
totally uninterested in actually fact checking themselves before they open

(07:47):
their mouths anymore. Democrats stick their feet in their mouths
about gas prices still being high. Ignored them too. They
don't understand that gas prices don't run parallel to oil prices.
There's a fair amount of time between when oil is
bought and then it's piped into storage near its sourced
and loaded onto tankers that take a few minutes to

(08:08):
cross the ocean, then offloaded near a refinery, and then
refined and then stored a little while longer again, and
then only then moved into the refineries to be turned
into gasoline, which then has to be trucked to wherever
it is that you buy your gas. That takes a while.
We're still paying a price for gas. It's based on
the price of oil from a few weeks, maybe even

(08:29):
a month ago. Give it to time. Give it time
now that it's sitting down in the sixties again, and
watch how those gas prices come down. Out where I
buy gas. It's I think the discount stores and the
grocery stores and all that there. At about three to
nine the last time I paid, I always buy branded gasoline.
I was told to do that by someone who is

(08:50):
in that industry big time and says, beware the rack
gasolines that some of those discount places sell. Take that
for what it's worth. You can buy your gas wherever
you want to anyway. The bottom line is that gas
is gonna come down pretty quickly now, and it's probably
going to stay down as long as we don't get

(09:11):
any any more flak from Iran and the whack of
doodles who keep pulling triggers over there. Need to take
a break, do we. Let's do that Gallery furniture z
Cliner sleep Chair. Been talking about them for quite some time.
By the way, little hint as to what's coming next
week big sale. I'm not going to tell you what
it's all about yet because I don't think it's public

(09:33):
knowledge yet. But you know, Mac and Max's gonna do
something special for the big special date we have next week.
Back to the z Cliner sleep chair, though, it's a recliner,
it's a bed, it's a heat of massage chair. It's
whatever you want to be for the ultimate soothing experience.
And every one of those z Cliner sleep chairs also
can come with a power lift if you need that option.

(09:55):
Say you've had some trouble, maybe you're recovering from surgery,
and you can just PLoP down. You need to be
gently lowered into that chair where you can do that,
it'll almost come up to a standing position. You lean
back and hold the button down and it'll ease you
right into that high, high tech relaxation zone. You can

(10:16):
get that z Cliner sleep chair today or any other
day at any of the two Gallery Furniture locations, or
you can probably buy one online. If you want z
Cliner sleep chairs from Gallery Furniture, go check them out. Hi,

(10:44):
welcome back to fifty flous. Thank you as always for listening.
I'm sure I'm sure that most of you by now,
because you are well read and well heard, you've seen
and heard stories about this new world screw worm, which
potentially poses a serious three to the southern cattle herds
in our country. What you might not realize, though, is

(11:04):
that that same fly and that same flies, Lara, we
could also land on your pet and to talk about this,
I'll bring in doctor Chelsea Vigeant, medical director at Veterinary
Emergency Group, sugar Land. Welcome back Dot.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
Hello Doug. How are you.

Speaker 1 (11:20):
Oh, I'm doing very well, thank you. So let's start
with a little background on screwworms and how their range
has expanded in recent years.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
Yeah, so screw worms used to it's actually I know
we called screwworms, but like you had mentioned, it's fly right.
But the problem is is it was the reason it's
become such a big deal, is it. It's been eradicated
for decades in the States. We've got rid of it
so that it didn't impact our cattle or our livestock herds.

(11:47):
So the reason it's not that this is a new
worm or a new creature or you know, a new caroasite.
It's just that we had gotten rid of it here
and now it's back, which can be devastating.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
That's kind of like the Africanized honeybees we push them
out of.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
Here, or yeah, yeah, any of any of the viruses
we got rid of, you know, with vaccines and things,
and now it's having flare ups. So yeah, it is.
It is back. So that that is why it's a
big discussion now.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
And they're different from most other flies like them, and
that they feed on living flesh and not dead animals.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
Right, yeah, so.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
What people don't like you don't think about it. Think
people think of maggots. They just think of maggots and
they're grossed out, and you know there's not But what
maggots actually do is they only dead tissue. They don't
need live, healthy tissue. And where the screwarm larva. The
bad thing about it it is actually eats live tissue.
So you know that becomes a major issue in all
of our cattle or are like you said, are pets

(12:47):
when they're actually growing in live tissue.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
So with with fingers crossed, have there been any documented
cases of these flies laying eggs on family pets?

Speaker 3 (12:57):
There is, so there has been one the pet It
actually lived in New York. It was documented in New Mexico,
but it had traveled to Texas. So there is one
small animal the case already. So because you know, the
screworm doesn't doesn't care what what a host is. It's
just going to find posts. So and That's why it

(13:19):
can become a big deal, especially with our heat and
the climate we live in with our outdoor pets even worse.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
Doctor Chelsea Vision on fifty plus here on a one
to ten scale, doc. What's the alert level now for
pet owners?

Speaker 3 (13:32):
I mean, I think it depends. I think if you
have outdoor dogs, I think if you have outdoor catalogs,
if you have barn cats, I think you need to
be a much higher alert because these are the ones
that some won't sometimes get overlooked a little more commonly.
I think for us, with you know, your indoor domesticated
pets that you know you're checking every day you're petting
they're inside, that alert level is a lot lower, and

(13:55):
there's definitely no need to be validly massive concern. I
don't think there's need for panic in general. You know,
this isn't a common infestation type of thing we're talking about,
but it could be if we're not vigilant about it.
So I think I think the thing is if you have,
especially outdoor pets, if you have any pets even not outdoor,
who have things that set them up to possibly be

(14:17):
more likely to get these, then we do need to
be really really careful about our monitoring and our vigilance
about keeping an eye on it.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
Speaking of vigilance, what are we looking for symptom symptomatically.

Speaker 3 (14:29):
Yeah, so basically the only way you can prevent these
things or trying to prevent the flies, right, the flies
or what lay the larvast. So if you can prevent
the flies, you know, whether it's fly sprays or whether
it's keeping the areas clear of it, then that's the
best prevention. But in our pets, what these larvae like
are wounds doesn't necessarily have to be wounds. So I

(14:50):
don't want you to just think of a wound. It's
actually wet, warm tissue. So eyes ears. If you know
your dog has a skin condition or oh it cut
its paul, or you have standing water or a lake
that they're always in. You know, your labrador goes in
it and his feet get wet and then it's really.

Speaker 1 (15:08):
Warm in there.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
And so any areas that those can grow in even
when you think about it, like genital regions or little
bites or little cuts, so any type of un I
don't want to say unhealthy tissue is a small laceration
or you know, a surgical decision can be healthy, but
if it has a way to get in, it will
get in. So if anytime that our pets are outdoors,

(15:33):
anytime you even you know, you take your dog to
the dog park, it's going to swim, it might cut
its little pall on a rock that is enough of
a spot for it to happen. It's checking for those
things all the time that I think the things we
need to be vigiling it out of checking for wounds,
looking to see if there's wound, anything that smells funny

(15:53):
on those wounds, or you're noticing every time he walks
he leaves a little spot from his you know, a
little wet spot from his foot. What is that? Checking
all of those things, I think those are the type
of things you're gonna want to check, especially in this weather.
You know, it's a lot. It's not that it doesn't
happen in cooler weather, but right now this is the
perfect climate for it for it to grow and happened.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
So you're telling me that if I got a dog
and it's got a little cut on it's paw or
maybe it's backside, even that I'll have to go smell
that area to see if they got those worms.

Speaker 3 (16:24):
I mean, yeah, I think I think checking it if
you're just checking it daily, is it red, is it inflamed?
Is it dry or you keep it clean? Is it
getting bigger?

Speaker 2 (16:32):
Right?

Speaker 3 (16:33):
Is it? I mean does it actually some we're finding
The reason these worms are found in general is you
actually find moving worms in a wound, so you know,
but you might not even notice it is a wound.
What if your dog is licking at its paw more
than it would you know, sometimes we have dogs that
have allergies, but say it's chewing it a little wound
on the base of its tail. Our pets will usually

(16:54):
tell us. We just sometimes don't notice. So if they're saying, hey,
I'm kind of bothering with this foot or this spot
on my side, over my ear, I'm shaking my head,
you know, could it be something simple like an air
infection or analogy. It could be, but it could be
something much worse like the screw worm infection.

Speaker 1 (17:09):
What's the what's the time frame between the laying of
the eggs and the appearance of actual moving things down
there on a wound.

Speaker 3 (17:16):
So the thing is that depends it all depends on
I mean, they could lay eggs and they dry out,
they get cleaned off, an owner doesn't even see it
and they brush their dog and it's gone. So it
really kind of all depends on, you know, how long
they have like have been on the on the pet
and how long the how long they had could get

(17:37):
into the wound itself, so that that's a little bit
harder to say timeline wise, But anytime you see any
of that, even if you're suspicious, it's worth taking them
to let them get checked out. You know, if we
if if you come in to say, hey, I just
wanted to make sure this isn't a squirming screw worm
infestation and we see a little spot nothing going on,
we're going to tell you no and send out the door.

(17:58):
But it's definitely it is definitely an emergency. And at
this point, you know, it's very reportable, especially somewhere here,
because we don't want our sure our large animal and
livestock you know, decimated. So it is really important to
get it checked as soon as you see it or
as soon as you're worried.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
What are the what what can you do when the
animal presents with screw worms? What do you do?

Speaker 3 (18:19):
So there are treatments that we can give to actually
help clear those worms out. Okay, you do need a
veterinarian to actually remove any worms that don't come out
or any dead worms because they won't come out of
the wound. So there are medications we can give to
help kill them once we find them, and then the
wound care that you have to do to keep it,
you know, keep that wound care clean. We are finding

(18:40):
there are some your normal heartworm preventions and medication preventions.
There are some medications that can help with that. But
it especially with your outdoor pets or your pets that
are going outside, you know, to the to the to
the pet park or anything like that, you're going to
want to make sure you're checking those things, cleaning areas,
making sure you're looking for any womb.

Speaker 1 (19:00):
Afterwards, and before we run out of time, talk about
the clinics and what you guys do and how often
I mean, you're basically there anytime somebody needs your help, right, yes.

Speaker 3 (19:08):
Yes, so your family vets can see you anytime too.
But if you're finding it like it always happens with
our pets. At tenth night on a Saturday on July fourth,
all of the Veger for Pets We're open twenty four
hours a day, every day of the year. You can
come in in any time, stay with your pet while
we're checking everything out, see what's going on. So anytime
the quicker, you have them checked when you see it,

(19:31):
doesn't matter if it's two in the morning, doesn't matter,
if it's on Sunday or fourth of July, then then
bring them in and let us check to be sure
so that we can stop it as quickly as possible.

Speaker 1 (19:40):
You've got several clinics around town.

Speaker 3 (19:42):
Right we do. We have one in Katie area for
our people in Katie. We have one down in sugar Land.
We have one in our Heights area, and as of July,
I believe ninth of tenth might be a little bit
later than that, we will have one that we're in
the bay Brook area in our fantastic Clearview Friends with area.

Speaker 1 (19:58):
Yeah, doctor Chelsea Vision from Begeer, thank you so much.
I greatly appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (20:05):
Very welcome.

Speaker 1 (20:08):
All right, that's good stuff right there, so you don't
have to worry about them too much, but you still
need to be vigilant. When she was talking about looking
for minor cuts and scrapes where these larva could be
laid and could get a way into the body. It
kind of reminded me of the Vibrio vulnificus issue with

(20:28):
people down on the coast, what a lot of people
mistakenly call the flesh eating bacteria. It's not that's something
entirely different. But anyway, but I digress, I need to
go to a break here. On the way out, I'll
tell you about UT Health Institute on Aging. Mostly in
the mediciner these providers are, but many of them also
working a day or two or maybe even three in

(20:50):
outlying clinics and hospitals. And what separates them from all
the other doctors and therapists and trainers and whatever in
the medical field here in town, nurses, nurse practitioners, all
of these people who carry the little car. Maybe they
have cards, I don't know, but they are part of
the UT Health Institute on Aging. They've gone back and

(21:12):
got an additional education so that they know how to
apply their knowledge specifically to us, and as seniors, we
need all the help we can get. Okay, we're doing
the best we can with what we've got, but we
can always use more help, and you're gonna get it
from the providers who are part of that Institute on Aging.
Go to their website, take a look around. You'll get

(21:34):
lost in it. Actually, you'll probably spend an inordinate amount
of time doing that. And then you think, oh, well, yeah,
that's right. I need to find an optometrist, or I
need to find a gastro enterologist or a cardiologist. Whatever
you're looking for, you can start that search at that
website ut dot edu, slash aging, uth dot edu slash aging.

(22:08):
All right, welcome back to fifty plus and thank you
for listening. We're actually in a bigger studio today. This
is so nice. I've got a big window here. This
is what you get when you upgrade. And yeah, I
like being in here. This should become a permanent place.
I think maybe maybe not, we'll see how it goes.
There's a lot going on around here, a lot of

(22:28):
little inside things that we have to figure out to
keep everything afloat. And I think it's going to turn
out very well. Actually it's going to turn out very
well for me, for you, for all of us who
embrace being fifty years or older. And thanks, by the way,
also to all of you who are younger than fifty

(22:51):
and are listening on behalf of your parents. I really
appreciate that. I wish something like this had been around
when my mother's health began fail. I truly do. I
truly do, and I've I've enjoyed doing this and I'm
going to keep on doing it. Like I've said all
the time, as long as they'll let me come in
here and sit down behind this microphone, I'm gonna be

(23:13):
here for you and speaking up. By the way, I've
got some room coming up. There is room for one
or two more sponsors. I don't want to overload this
show with commercials, but for the right people and the
right fit. If there's somebody in this audience or you
know somebody who would like to reach this audience, and

(23:33):
for that matter, the audiences of any of our stations.
I kind of carry a little list of very select
clients that I want to work with. And if you
think you're that person, you want a part of this
and you want to reach all these people who are
in this age bracket, by all means, let's have a
conversation and you can do that very easily. It's just

(23:55):
Dugpike at iHeartMedia dot com. Just say hey, I want
to talk and I'll get with you. I'll come meet
you and we'll see what you got cooking and see
if it works into our menu. House. Minority leader Hakim
Jeffreys got called on the carpet during a CNBC interview
speaking of gas Lian prices, by the way, when he
claimed that the national price of gas this was just

(24:18):
very recently, was four dollars and twenty cents a gallon,
and very quickly the host of that show, Joe Kernin,
said it's under four. And that was confirmed when a
graphic of current gas prices was put on the screen
and show that indeed, on that day the actual number
was three dollars and ninety three cents a gallon. We

(24:41):
are finally standing up to the left and its carpet
bombing of lies designed to make Americans think things are
worse than they are, and we better keep doing that too.
What the current liberals in Congress don't realize is that
if they keep lying to support a party that's leaning
farther and farther left into socialism and communism, they're going

(25:02):
to find themselves out of jobs when real socialists, backed
by real money beat them in primaries. Look at New York.
Look what happened up there, Mom. Donnie endorsed three of them,
and all three socialists on their primaries. And these people
eventually are going to get a nose under the tent
in Washington, d C. We already have a few of

(25:24):
them in there. Jeffery's just talking himself right out of
his cushy job that makes him feel so important. He's
not as on board with socialism as much of his
party would like him to be, and long term that
just may get him swept to the curb. In response,
by the way, to the wave of socialism infecting some
cities and states, a handful of moderate Democrats have signed

(25:46):
on to an effort to promote what Americans want, which
is this is old school politics here, Okay. This is
a bunch of Democrats by name, who actually believe in
a secure border, who actually believe in secure elections, who
want safe cities, They want affordable housing and affordable food

(26:07):
and all of these things that we all want, and
they are willing to sit down and work with Republicans
on finding solutions to those situations. These are moderate Democrats
who suddenly want to distance themselves from the socialists who

(26:28):
call themselves democrats. They call themselves that because they know
that gives them a foot in the door. To anybody
who's been a Democrat for a long, long, long long time,
I never vote Republican. That's what some of these people say,
and that they're they're right. I'm not knocking them for that.
But what they've done is led themselves into their own

(26:50):
little trap because now in a lot of races, the
so called Democrat candidate is no more Democrat than car Marx.
That these people are socialists, communists, or combinations of those things,
but they run as Democrats so they can be aligned

(27:11):
with a major party because major parties have major voting blocks.
There are a lot of Republicans and there are a
lot of Democrats. There aren't very many true socialists. But
if the socialists come out and say, hey, this is
what we are and don't modify some of what they

(27:32):
say to get elected, they won't get elected. So they
just call themselves democrats. And you know, since you've been
a Democrat all your life, you need to vote democrat
again when what you're really voting for is a socialist.
So be careful coming up in November, be careful where
you cast that ballot, and remember that they're actually this

(27:53):
whole group. There's about a dozen of them so far.
It's not a major wave of people, but this group
of Democrats, that's who just said, look, we're tired of this.
We are not represented by the Zoron, the Moron Zambanis
of the world. We are not represented by any of
that bunch, any of these socialists who are working to

(28:14):
just dismantle this country of ours, and I respect them
for doing that. They want to sit down, just like
old school Democrats and old school Republicans did and hammer
out what each side thinks is the best for America
and then work toward compromises where we have to, but

(28:34):
still stay on that same path that's gotten us to
our two hundred and fiftieth anniversary or birthday. Excuse me.
Radicals have just overtaken the Democrat Party and convinced a
whole lot of them that it's either Democrat or Republican.
Even though they're socialists. They are their own party, and
they ought to wear that, they ought to talk about that,

(28:57):
but they've disguised themselves as Democrats to collect votes from
people who just don't like Republicans. Shifting to how much
time do I have in this situation? Here for oh good,
I can move on with a little bit. Shifting to
Florida for a minute, I found this interesting story of
a Largo tattoo business at which the owner says active
duty military and veterans are not welcome, and as you

(29:21):
might imagine, that's drawn pretty heavy fire on social media.
Owner posted his opinion of our military on social media
and even uncovered a few sympathizers, but as many or
more people called him out for applying his opinion of
what it seems like is a very small small sample
of military people. He just he just doesn't like any

(29:45):
of them, and period into story. Here's what he said. Okay,
here's what he posted, and I quote my opinion is
that the military is a bunch of war criminals and
law enforcement kills, babies and unarmed citizens in the street.
End quote. I'm not sure what evidence he has for that,
but I haven't seen anything about that in news. He's
all he's done is given us an opinion, but he

(30:07):
hasn't backed it up with anything. Where did he read it?
What makes him think that that's true. It's been my
experience that people who complain the most about things are.
They tend to be the ones who don't really want
to do anything to change whatever they perceive to be wrong,
but they get a whole lot of satisfaction from yelling
themselves into the spotlight for a little while. He's not gonna,

(30:31):
He's not gonna last. I don't think. I don't think
Florida as wacky as some of the people down there are.
I don't think Floridians are gonna are gonna back him
in his his No, I don't have any tattoos. You
have any tattoos. I don't either. Yeah, that makes two
of us cal I, you know, And I don't come

(30:56):
from the age of the tattoo, the years of the
This is a fairly It's not new, certainly, but I
see more and more people whose bodies are mostly covered
with them now, and I wonder just why, because they
say it hurts to get one, first of all, and
I'm not into self inflicted pain. But even looking beyond that,

(31:18):
I just I just don't understand it. And I'm not
knocking it. If you have tattoos all over you, more
power to you, More power to you and everybody you
know who has them as well. It doesn't bother me.
It doesn't bother Sometimes I kind of find them somewhat fascinating.
It's just not for me, kind of like being a
Democrat or Republican. But I'm still you know, if you're

(31:38):
still an American and you care about this country, then
we got a lot of ground to work with. Are
we are starting from common ground and that's all we
have to do. Let's lighten this up for a minute.
Holy cal let me see what I've got here. Ah,
this was pretty good. City in Massachusetts is thinking about
limiting bars and restaurants to serving guests one drink per

(31:59):
thirty minutes. And as a former bartender, I knew some
people who would nurse drinks for about a half an hour,
and I knew people who would take that first one
and slurp it down like it was like they were
just got out of a desert and somebody handed them
a cup of water. But thirty minutes, I think that's

(32:23):
a little long, Although that also would I'm sure reduce
the number of drunks on the road after they leave
the bar and people. People were wondering online when that
story came out if tables would need egg timers or
hour glasses or something like that to enforce it. I
think that's the biggest problem a notion like that might

(32:43):
encounter is, Okay, how are we going to do this?
How are we going to do this? And if you've
got more than one or two bartenders in a bar,
and a customer goes to one each of those bartenders,
you got three bartenders, and the guy goes by there,
goes to each one of them ten minutes difference at
a time, it'd be pretty sloshed up by the end

(33:05):
of the night. Found an interesting but not very soft
stop there. Uh, here's another kind of good one. And
I've got a I'm wondering about this. It says here
senior citizens in Tennessee got to participate in a giant
slipping slide day. I want to see the video of that,
because on a slipping slide, unless it's on the side

(33:27):
of a hill, I remember as a kid having to
run full speed and then playing out like Superman to
hit that thing and actually go anywhere. Cal's nod in
his head he's been on a slipping slide. And so
to think that a senior without breaking a hip could
run at full speed and plane out and dive onto

(33:51):
a slippery plastic tarp. I hope they had an ambulance
sitting around there. We need to take another break, we should.
I'll do that right now. New Promise Neuropathy is where
patients get the individual treatment they need and deserve. And
all you got to do is go in there. You're
going to understand what they've been doing up in Dallas.

(34:13):
Dallas and Fort Worth have had them for many, many years.
They're finally down here and I'm thrilled to be speaking
for them. They are going to change your life, they
really are. If your extremities, your hands, and your feet hurt,
if you especially your feet, if you've got the pain
that comes with peripheral neuropathy, maybe the burning sensation, or

(34:35):
you just got numbness down there, you don't even know
when your foot's on the ground, then they can help you.
They're going to identify the source of that stuff, whatever
the symptoms are, tingling, numbness, burning, whatever, and then they
are going to chart a course to relieve it with
non invasive holistic methods that for starters, are going to
reduce whatever dependency you might have now on nerve blockers,

(34:58):
FDA and Medicaid clear medicare cleared, so you don't have
to worry about the money part of it. So much
great people to work with. Our first location here in Houston,
the Houston area is up on Stuben Or Airline. We're
about to open up a second one. I say we.
They like they're kind of in the family, so that's
why I say we. But they're about to open one

(35:19):
in Missouri City, so everybody down on my side of
town is going to be able to get in there
if they need to. If you've gotten neuropathy, you need
to know about New Promise Neuropathy. I guarantee you. New
Promise Neuropathy dot Com is the website. New Promise Neuropathy
dot com. Get your life back. I don't know if

(35:47):
I talked that much more than I should. I can't.
I think cal gave me a little bit too long
a leash. We've only got barely a minute. What time
you want me out? Like at fifty forty right to
the top, leave me ten seconds. I could do that, okay,
So I was keep an eye on this thing. I'll
tell you what you flashed me when I've got ten
seconds left, because there's one I want to do here

(36:08):
and there's a couple of over here that are really
good for the end, and I'm not even sure which
one I want to do.

Speaker 3 (36:13):
Now.

Speaker 1 (36:13):
I'm kind of panicking. I'm panicking, panicking. I got it
here somewhere might be that one, And there was another
one over here that I was debating on using. I
think I'll still use this one, since it's summertime, summertime, summertime,
and everybody's in there swimming pools right. A question was asked,
do you shower before getting into a public pool? Fifty

(36:36):
two percent said they do not rinse off before getting
in that pool. Think about that next time you take
a dive.
