a lot better than what we were told to expect
as we crawled under the covers last night. The forecast,
even as late as last night at ten o'clock, the
forecasts were that we could just see street flooding everywhere.
You needed to go, build an arc and gather animals,
make sure you got medicines, hoard some water and toilet

as if a baby tropical storm, which is all this
thing amounted to for us, It's already kind of coming
gone around here, It truly is by tonight. They were
telling us, Well, actually I'm telling you, by tonight, whatever's
left of what finally became Tropical Storm Arthur should be
well east of the Sabine River and not too much

(02:22):
more than a memory north of I ten and just
kind of a sloppy, wet memory. We had a couple
of days of sporadic rain, some of which was pretty heavy,
but most of which was not after being told it
was going to be a potential. I talk about this
more than more than I should, probably and certainly more

(02:45):
than I could. But it bothers me that television forecasts
tend to lean toward the hypothetical cataclysmic months, this horrible storm,
rather than Okay, it might rain a lot, but mostly

(03:06):
it's not going to rain a lot. Why don't they
just tell us that one time? Have you ever have
you noticed that? Justin Yeah, I heard that on the
radio they were talking about. In fact, one of the
days before I came in, they were talking about, oh,
life threatening flooding, and I look around my drive here
it was drs a bone and there was barely any showers.

I was like, it happens, going on, It happens. It
happens far more on television than on the radio. At least.
I trust our guys, and I trust our forecast. There's
a couple of online forecasts that I watch, especially when
something does boil up in the Atlantic or in the
Gulf of Mexico, Gulf of America. Excuse me. The bottom
line is, just find some sort find more than one

source from which to get your weather news. Same as
more than one source from which to get your news news,
and you'll you'll just be a whole lot better off
for it. We still might see a little bit of
rain along the coast, but that big disorganized blob that
came through here and caused all this is pretty much
fizzled out as far as we're concerned anyway. And the

big disorganized surf that we had this morning, I was
looking the old surfer in me couldn't help but check
the surf camps, and it was just sloppy. One of
the Galveston cameras looking outward, I was looking at probably
I don't know, it was breaking six seven hundred yards
off shore, maybe a full half mile somewhere in there,

(04:34):
and nothing that would have been ridable and fun. It
would have just been drop in, bounce off the bottom,
and then sit back on your board and wait for
the next one, which would be there in about five
seconds today though later today, and it may have happened
already for the remaining few surfers in this audience. That

(04:56):
wind's going to shift offshore on the backside of this thing.
The wind's gonna turn and blow offshore instead of onshore
like it was this morning, and it's gonna clean those
waves up. I wish I'd had a chance before I
came in here to take one more look at Saltwater
recon look at the surf side picture, and look at
the Galveston picture to see if that's already kind of

settled out. And anybody who is a surfer and would
like to go probably already knows whether the winds changed
down there or not. I haven't looked, So there you go.
That window is going to be pretty narrow too, because
it's gonna all go back to just hot and muggy
and typical early summer around here. But at least through
today and maybe a little bit tomorrow, there should be

(05:37):
some pretty good waves breaking on the Galveston coast and
down there around the surfside too. Turning to the market,
too green and too red. At ten o'clock this morning,
the Dow was north of fifty two thousand then, and
the Russell was close to three thousand. Nasdaq's still getting
kind of beat up. But I looked at the longer
term on the NASDAG because I've seen some very some

(06:00):
not very but pretty dramatic changes in that particular indicator,
and then when I looked at it, it really hasn't
changed that much overall. There have been some spikes, some
peaks and valleys back and forth, up and down, up
and down, usually during one trading day, just because of
the algorithmic stuff that goes on. But the bottom line

(06:23):
is it's been It's been fine for about that since
late March, early April, somewhere around in there. It hadn't.
It's actually gone up a little since then, and that's
from a very low point. A little earlier in the year,
it was down quite a bit, but it's it's up
like most of the others are moving forward. Let's see,

(06:45):
Oh gold, well, i'll tell you about gold. First goal
was up about twelve bucks earlier this morning forty three
sixty six and ounce oil was down. I don't remember
exactly where it was. It started inching up earlier in
the day, and I don't think it's come up much.
It's still gonna be in the mid to high seventies.

(07:06):
Let's call it per berol. I haven't looked. I'll look
during the break maybe and see what's going on. But
hopefully that trend, that downward trend, will continue so long
as we don't have any any shenanigans going on over
there with Theron maybe starting to lob missiles again or
something crazy like that. I think they finally kind of

learned that that won't work in their favor. It won't
work in their favor, and hopefully we'll get it all done.
Diving into the news, and boy are there a couple
of doozies this afternoon. A French teacher, not a teacher
from France, but a teacher who taught French. A woman
in the Denver isd School district. She'd made a big

old mistake. It's some college prep high school over there,
fired recently because she will Actually they were doing these
skits in class, and I guess it was exchanges of
French in French language. I know a little tiny bit
of French. I studied it not very long, not long

enough to have a big conversation. But if push came
to shove and anybody offered me enough money, I could
recite the Pledge of allegiance in French and then I
could say some inappropriate things. Well, they wouldn't get me
kicked off the air even if I said them in English,
but they're just inappropriate. Somebody taught me those a long
time ago, and for some reason those stuck. I don't

know why. In any event, this woman who teaches the class.
In almost all of her classes where she teaches this French,
the ratio is about fifty percent boys fifty percent girls. Well,
for the skits number one, she always chose girls to
do the skits. The creepy part is that she also

almost always asked them during these it's to kiss each other. Yeah,
big hmm. Not so good. Cost her a job, and
hopefully it should cost her more than that. And I'm
really glad, even in Denver, which is not exactly a
conservative city, even in there, we're seeing some glimmers of

common sense coming through and just doing the right thing
coming through. And the firing of her, I think for
asking those young girls to do that is highly appropriate.
I don't have a problem with that at all. All Right,
we gotta take a little break here. On the way out,

We've got to do that first one pretty quickly and
relatively meaningless news I guess to anybody, but fast food
chains in their franchisees for the first time in years,
and this kind of surprised me as well, and it
should you. Chick fil A has lost its crown for
highest customer satisfaction. This was based on some grading system

they use to do that. Whoever does it the details.
I don't want to get lost in the minutia of
this because it's really somewhat silly and it can't be
one hundred percent accurate. But the bottom line is Chick
fil A lost that position too, justin you want to
take a stab, you know, it's kind of funny. I've

(11:49):
heard a bunch of people say that it's like a
change in the recipe or it's just like that, there's
just like a slight, slight change that are throwing people
off of the chain. Well, this, now, this one is
custom were satisfaction. I guess food quality would be involved
in that, but it's just kind of the atmosphere, the vibe,
if you will, Do you still say vibe? Are you
too young? No, you're too old to say vibe? Or

too young or that? Oh no, no, I still say vibe. Okay,
It's it's relatively okay. I mean it's not my go
to place, but by one point out of it on
a scale of one to one hundred, Chick fil A
got an eighty three who got an eighty four and
they base it on a bunch of stuff just to
add up all the points. Any ideas. Uh, let me guess,

hold up, take a stab. You won't get it. Oh oh,
I'm gonna take some some wild guests. Okay, take one
wild guest. First off, I'm gonna say Burger King Oh no, no, no, no, no,
get this Jersey Mike, really Jersey Mike by one point.
And the way fast food change are going, no customer

service is going to be replaced by an AI driven
kiosk and a single human outside the kitchen. You know,
I've experienced this. I'm not gonna say where, but I
have experienced this. You have to go. You can't even
hardly get somebody to take your order at the counter.
You have to use a little kiosk. And then when
you do that, and what I always do is just

they want you to pay at the kiosk, so there's
nothing else for them to do. McDonald's just makes it
mandatory now most pretty much, yeah, pretty much they do.
And I'm not really keen on that. So what I
do is I always pay pay with cash, and then
out from the back comes somebody who's really kind of
ticked off because they had to get up and come
out there and take my money. But I just I

just like to I'm old school. I really am. I'm
just old school. So that's about how That's about how
much I care about all of this. Really yeah, and
don't forget the tip, jark boy, don't get me started.
It reminds me of a story from about two weeks ago.
Woman went into a fast food place. She placed her
order the kiosk, it shows up in some little cubicle.

She pays by credit card, hasn't even seen a human
being yet, and is asked before she finishes the transaction
if she wants to leave a tip to who, to
whom correctly, would you leave that tip? Because there's nobody
you haven't seen anybody. Nobody has done anything for you
other than put your food in a bag and shove

it in a box that only you can't see behind
wherever it is. I don't know how that works, but
the bottom line is that's kind of messed up, which
which forced me when I read that story and remembered
I read the one and remembered the other, to ask Ai,
because Ai knows everything. Ask Ai about where some of
the most unusual places were when people were asked to

tip top three on my list anyway, and there were
a bunch of them there, but totally totally asking for
TI at the at the self check out, the grocery store.
You ever had that happen yet? Sometimes? Uh, well, some
some Kroger's and I had one echb before ask for

a tip. Yeah, believe it or not. Yeah, they don't know.
I guess I spend enough money in there, did not
need to have tip. I probably don't have enough money
to tip. They can spot me. Man, I've got an
eighteen year old son who eats like a horse, and
my wife and I go through a lot of stuff
at the house. We don't cook a whole lot, so
most of what we eats out and when I do,

grow grocery shop and it just costs an arm in
the leg anyway. So but no, I'm not now here's
where it's gonna get. Here's where I'm gonna draw the line. Okay,
If I get a hip replacement and wake up to
see a tip jar at the nurses station or at
the foot of the bed, that's when I'm That's when
I'm bailing out. Oh there was another one. To it

automatic totally automated car wash. Some guy got asked to tip.
There's one of my clients calling me right now in
the middle of the show. He doesn't I think. I
don't think he realizes I'm on the air right now.
I'll call him during the break or I'll text him
back to it. Okay, here's something we're gonna do. Justin.
I'm gonna read you three little titles that I put

on some interesting well not any more interesting than the
Chick fil A thing, but here we go. Three little titbits.
Are none of them more than three sentences long. And
you just picked the title that appeals to you most.
And I'll tell you what I was talking about. Number
one like moths to a flame. Number two not mouthwatering

at all. And number three, how much is too much?
Since we're on the topic of food, I would say
I would say mouthwater, not mouthwater. Okay, tell me whether
you would eat this. There's a social media trend now.
It says of making blue hot dogs by boiling them
in gatorade. I presume blue. Somebody's tried it, they say

it works, and kids, they say here may find it fun.
I'm not feeding my kid a blue hot dog for starters.
That's just would you. No hot dog is not. There's
some things that just are not supposed to be that
blows my mind. I've heard of the trend going on
with people putting gatorade bottles in like the little jars,

and they put pineapple in them, and they make and
they make different colored pineapple slices. But I haven't heard
of anything about a blue I don't need a blue
hot dog.

There's there's a joke in my head, but it's no.
I'm not going there. I'm not really going there. Let
me go back to the big news of the day
here from the Wait what desk comes news that California
governor got about newsom uh made wild claims Monday that

(17:58):
the DOJ on order from our current president is targeting
him and his wife in a politically motivated investigation. But
and this is a really big butt, officials in the
current administration say that the investigation actually began during the

(18:20):
Biden administration. We all knew Biden was targeting his political enemies,
but what we didn't know that he was trying to
dig up dirt on both sides of the aisle. I
found that quite interesting. He kept it pretty quiet too.
From all the emails I've gotten from Brian Erickson, our
news director, and from all the video I've seen and

(18:43):
reports I've read for the last six or seven years,
I never once thought that President Biden, former President Biden
would have been going after people in his own party,
except that news imposed a threat just in case Joe
would have been able to run again. And I think

(19:05):
he knew that Newsom probably would have beat him, had
Newsom gotten on the ticket, or had Newso got a
chance to get on the ticket. I think Joe Biden
knew long before anybody let on that he was slipping,
and then he didn't have much left going for him
politically anyway. And once again, I don't have any problem

with it. Bothers me that when people talk about President
Trump they just called him Trump. That bothers me because
I grew up in an era when, out of respect
for the office, you either called him President whoever or
at least missed or whoever, but you didn't refer to

him by their last names. That's messed up, it really is.
So former President Biden, I have no qual no quarrel
with him as a man, but I did not like
his policies at all. He pretty much messed us up
for a long time to come, and we've got a
lot of fixing to do to get our country back
where it's got to be. Speaking of getting fixed, New

kind of glad to see that that almost storm. Get

First of all, first of all, you're opening a second store.

You didn't read? Yeah, we're we're supposed to take well,

what happened, I guess they're not through with construction or whatever. Okay,
but we're due to open that the middle of July.
So we're really excited about that.

Yeah, buddy, Well, in the meantime, let's just talk about
the e bikes. When did when did e bikes first
come available?

Speaker 4 (23:22):
Oh wow? You know, actually, electric bikes have been around
for a long time. I talked and I want to
stay back in the eighteen.

Speaker 3 (23:31):
Hundred, Oh lord, yeah.

Speaker 4 (23:34):
Yeah, but they didn't really become popular until COVID hit
and everybody was looking for a way to get out
in the mount and you know, kind of stay away
with people but still get exercise. So that's when they
really became popular.

Speaker 3 (23:49):
Yeah. And when did you open that first door up
there in tumbul.

Speaker 4 (23:54):
So we opened that let's see, I think it was
October of twenty.

Four, okay.

And how many different models do you carry in there? Now?

We've got five different brands right now.

Talk about them for a second, because I was talking
during the introduction to the segment about things that would
be more appropriate for somebody maybe justin's age than your age,
your mind, and that's those little dirt bikes. How fun
are those?

Speaker 4 (24:46):
Man? Oh, those things are awesome. They're unbelievable. I don't
know if you remember the old mini bikes back from
the seventh sure, yeah, but that's kind of what this is.
It's the new version of the seventies mini bikes, okay,
But the difference is because they're electric the amount of

torque that these things had, it's unbelievable, you know. And
as say, they'll cruise up to thirty four to thirty
seven miles an hour. So they're a fun bike to ride,
there's no doubt.

Speaker 3 (25:22):
And what about let's let's talk about something for the
grown ups. What is a good entry level bike for someone,
say fifty plus, who hadn't been on a bike in
a long time and just is tired of having to
get in the car to go to the grocery store
or the drug store or whatever and want something a
little easier and get some fresh air through what's left
of his hair.

Speaker 4 (25:44):
So we have a number of models, Doug. When it
comes to that, it really depends on their you know,
the riding preferences and what they're wanting to do with
the bikes. But a couple of our really really popular
versions is we carry a model made by Trucks is
called the Explorer, and that is a it's a fat

fire e bike. So it's got twenty six by four
inch tires, it has a seven hundred and fifty buffmed motor,
tetro hydraulic brakes on it, twenty amp Samsung sell battery,
so you can get a range depending on how you're
riding it. The manufacturer quotes ninety miles on that particular block.

And then on the other side of that coin we
get a lot of our vears that come for our
folding bikes. We've got a couple of folding bikes made
by Electric which are really really popular. They also come
with you know, seven hundred and fifty motor or you
can get the smaller version in the five hundred series.

And then for those people that are a little less stable,
we've got three wheelers that we sell as well around
the neighborhoods.

That's a very much safer way to go if for
anybody who's maybe had some weakness or instability, you just
get on that tricycle and ride it like you right,
like you mean it.

You know.

Speaker 3 (27:13):
No, absolutely, Let's go to the other end of the
extreme too and go back to Troxas and Rambow and
how capable they are maybe for deer season or running
up and down the beach catching fish.

Speaker 4 (27:25):
Right right, So the Rambo that's definitely hunting and fishing bike.
That's what it's made for. And they've got several products
that have all will drive the most popular product. Excuse me.
Most popular product is called the Crusader that has two

five hundred motors, this particular bite, and it comes in
camouflage or green, but it puts out about one hundred
and thirty newt meters of port. And most people say, okay,
well what does that mean. Well, if you compare it
to the Explorer we talked about before, there's an excellent
bike road. Well, uh, it's about sixty newton meters more powerful,

but it's almost double the power of what the Explorer is.
And I tell people, I said, well, if you've got
a dear stand up in the trees, this thing will
actually climb that tree for you. If you get the traction,
it'll put you in your stand.

God, let's go to safety, okay. Not first off, helmets.
I know you and you give your speech about the
importance of wearing a helmet every time you get on
one of.

Speaker 5 (28:39):
These, right, absolutely, yeah, I mean helmets. I tell people
that come into the store when they when they're looking
to buy bike, I said, there's three accessories that I
definitely recommend that you purchase.

Speaker 4 (28:54):
One is the helmet. You definitely want to protect your
head there. The second one is a mirror so you
can see who's coming up behind you. And the third
one is a bell so you can let people know
when you're passing them. A horn, and those are probably
the most important things when it comes to safety.

Speaker 3 (29:12):
Well, if I'm going to be on an electric bike,
I've got access to electricity, I want a big old
truck horn.

Speaker 4 (29:19):
We can put that on there for you too, make sure.

Speaker 3 (29:21):
That I know I'm coming man. And what how how
have prices are they stable? Have they gone up? Come down?
Where are they now?

Speaker 4 (29:32):
You know a lot of we're seeing some I guess
you would say decrease in pricing in a lot of
the areas. Some of the higher end bikes are coming
down in pricing. Our most popular bike that's made by electric,
they've maintained their pricing, and they're already pretty low on
those bikes, so they've pretty much maintained their pricing.

So yeah, it.

Really depends on the bike you're looking yet, but you
can we have bikes for as little as I want
to say. It starts out about six seventy five all
the way up to about five thousand.

Our new store, right in our new store, we're going
to bring on some new bikes that's gonna go upscale
a little bit as well. And then we've got a
four wheeler that we're bringing on very good.

the batteries and that's something that years ago, there were
issues with some of these batteries catching on fire. And

that any bike and every bike that comes through his
stores to be sold doesn't have one of those bad batteries.

three crashes just insane to me. It's I have no
interest whatsoever in riding in a car with nobody driving.

to fly over here, stay in inflated great hotels for
a week or so, and try to take in a
couple of matches. And they're just head over heels in
love with all these things.
