So Dodgers even up the series, sets up, sets up
a really fun, really fun Game three. I mean, this
is this is what you all you could ask for
from Potter's Dodgers. Both of these games have been decided
by one run tells you a lot. I mean, anytime
these two teams get together, it's fun. How in May,
in May eighteenth, nineteenth to twentieth, we're getting playoff type

feeling games and that's what it's felt like. Shoeyotani this
year has been when he's pitching he hasn't been hitting.
It goes to show you what the Dodgers think of
the Potters in terms of a rivalry. He's hitting tonight,
if I trust me, if this was the A's, if
this was the Angels, Shoeyotani is not hitting tonight. Maybe
maybe the Angels because of the used to play form,
but the Potters. It goes to show the Potterys have

been getting off days, kind of piggybacked with the with

night was a game you feel like could have gone

won that game, and then game two, I feel like

you know, Ramon Loreano hit that one of the track,
Nick Costiano's hit that one of the track, and just
for the Pods unfortunately didn't really you didn't amount to

that series. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, they were just able. They
got destroyed by Miserowski on that Tuesday game, were able
to get to u Reba, which I give him credit for,

and then I give them credit for how they performed
over the weekend. That was a very solid series win
against the Mariners, taken on Kirby and I know N
cal Raley wasn't there, but that was impressive to get
a sweep on the road. Now, you got the Dodgers.
This is a a opportunity for the Potterys to show
who they are, because I think if they lose tonight,

at least nationally and I think locally as well, we're
gonna sit here and go, okay, Well, you won one
game at home. The game was one zero. The Dodgers
had countless opportunities with runners on. Mookie Betts had first
and third two different times, didn't come through there.

Otani hit wanted the track, Max Munsey won of the track.

And I don't think anyone thinks that you can sustainably
win won nothing throughout the rest of the rest of
the year. I think if you win this game tonight,
then all of a sudden a you put teams on
notice like, no, the potteris you here to stay.

And if they're winning this game.

Tonight, you got to think it's because they somehow get
to Otani. And when the Potteris have faced elite level
starting pitching, I give him credit for that kind of
beatier pitchers. They got after Ranger Suarez in Boston, they
got after Kirby over the weekend against the Mariners, Bubba
Chandler with the Pirates, very solid pitcher, uh Mitch Keller
like there was.

Good pictures that they've roughed up a little bit when
they faced the elite, and there's a reason why these
are all elite level pitchers. Chick and Mizowski ran through
them last week despite them getting to win at the end.
We'll get with Gavin Sheets. Scooball got after him on
opening day. Ram ra Valdez got after him, Paul Skeens
got after him. They got after the Logan Web a
couple of times. But show Yotani is in that mold

where they could have a chance to get them. Hell,
Yoshan Obimamoto isn't that mold. They didn't get to Yoshinobmamoto.
They just had an excellent pitching performance from Michael King
and the bullpen took over. It really shut things down
for the Padres. But this is a prime opportunity in
front of everyone nationally watching. I mean, the Brewers playing

the Cubs, big time series in the NL, and now
you get the Potter's and the Dodgers. You kind of
look at that a little bit, you know, without the
Phillies is kind of maybe a big four, certainly in
the NL. Teams that you're gonna have to deal with.
I think you throw the Phillies in there as well,
the way they've been playing under Don Mattingly. But this
is a prime opportunity for the Potterre's bats to come
alive because it feels like over the last couple of days,

like if they win this game tonight, I think the
outlook on the Potter's is very exciting. I think if
they lose this game tonight, you go, we're still having
the questions is this sustainable?

so far for the Potteris Griffin Canny. I give a
lot of credit to last night after getting blasted by

the ability to show out is with the bats tonight,
and they have to.

him what their game plan is going to be, and

on the other side of this table right now. But yeah,
Madie Manchado, look if the big three we've.

Tatis at two hits last night, I give him credit.
One was a blue pit one you know was it
was a challenge, Uh, you know, was close to being
out at first.

But if one of those guys can get it together,
and many minchatdo last night with the two run blast
certainly had it had a big moment in that game
where it looked it felt like immediately when the Dodgers

being a kneemake on Monday, I give I give Madie
Chatla a lot of credit. I mean, he killed that
ball from Shehn. And this is what's what's tricky, because

it feels like every guy has a different problem. Marril
just looks lost right now at the plate. Tatis is
getting hits his average, but his power is not there.
And the exact opposite is for Many Minchado. Many Minchado's
average is horrendous, but the power is still there.

I mean, at least he's hitting some home runs.

We've we've talked that nausea about the fact that Fernando
Tatis has not hit a home run up to this
point in the season. So but along with everyone else,
I mean, Miguel Andahar and Gavin Sheet looked like the
two signings of a decade what aj Peller has been
able to do. Ideally, you wouldn't be relying on Miguel
Andahar and Gavin Cheets to carry your offense. But it's
good that the Potteris have the ability so that when

these three guys are slumping, the Potterys have the ability
to carry the offense with the supporting cast.

But what you really need is at least one of the.

Three of these guys to get it together, because that's
been the problem with the Potter's recently, despite them the
record being good, is it feels like all three have
been Frankly, the Troci is the plate and it's it's
you're asking the rest of the pitching staff in the
supporting cast to be.

So good that it just puts a lot of straining.

You don't feel like it's the most sustainable way to
wait for the Pottery to play baseball. I think two
things can be true. I think we can celebrate the
Potter's record and like give them flowers for what they've
been able to do up to this point, while also
being concerned about the fact that the big time bats
haven't been there.

Because I think two things can be true.

Not winning the World Series of Fernando Tatis and manum
Manchato and Jackson Merrill continue at this rate, this is
it's not happening. The chances of yavint Sheets and McKellan
are being the MVPs, no shots to them are very low.
But we can also celebrate the fact that a j
Preller has put together a very good roster and a
very good supporting cast to be able to weather the

storm when these big time players are not playing up
to snuff. So this what leads me back to tonight.
This would be the prime opportunity where Donnar still on
the broadcast say, at last night, Fernando Tatists was ever
gonna hit home run, it.

Would have been last night in the ninth inning.

It didn't happen, But against Shoeyotani with a shot to
win a series, go up two to one of the Dodgers.
If it's it's a more important game tonight. There's a

game wasn't even close. I do think that Nick are
actually an interesting matchup play for the Spurs because they

was they're trying to move on from this whole Luca thing.

not not be dealing with because there was just a
mess and even though you got Cooper Flag, it still
was a disaster. And that you traded Luca for Anthony Davis,
who is now no longer with you didn't get a
lot of draft picks. But it came out today per
Sham Seronia that Luca or that he was actually with it,
Jayson Kid was actually with them, kind of moving on

from Luca. So much has been made about is this
an attractive job, because everyone's like, oh, today, this is
the most attractive job in the NBA.

You get Cooper Flag who's on his way up.

I do think it's very attractive because they have bigs.
They got Derek Lively, we'll see if they resigned Daniel Gafford.

You have wing players and PJ.

Washington, and you have you have Cooper Flagg, who's an
abject star.

Max Christy was a nice pick up in that Laker trade.

But is it that attractive of a job because all
we hear about is how which I don't necessarily agree with.
But all we hear about is, well, you know, the
Spurs and Thunder gonna dominate for the next ten years.
I mean, if you're in the Western Conference, what are
you gonna even be able to do? And I don't
hold that sentiment because as we've seen, we thought the

Nuggets were gonna be a dynasty, the Celtics we're gonna
be a dyasty thought, the Thunder we're gonna be a dynasty,
and all of a sudden, they're losing one game to
none to the San Antonio Spurs now that they can't
win this series and win a championship. But I do
think the Western Conference, like you have some teams waiting.
But in terms of the Mavericks, is that job attractive?
I don't think so because you a have Cooper Flag.
But so you're behind the Thunder and the Spurs. You're

behind the Lakers, who have Luca in a bunch of
the cap space to be able to work. The Rockets
are gonna get a point guard, which was their downfall
last year because they didn't have Fred van Vliet.

He's gonna be back in the fold and they're gonna
go get somebody.

Then you got Minnesota, who feels like they're a little
bit capped out about what they could do right now,
but they do have Anthony Yowarts and per JOm Sharani
on the Pat McAfee show, the Lakers and the Timberwolves
are looking to add Giannis because they're looking at the
Thunder and Spurs going hey, we gotta we gotta compete
here now.

I don't know if they have the packages to get
it done.

You feel like with the Lakers that involve a sign
and trade with Austin Reeves, which I don't know where
Giannis and Luca just gets you by themselves. And in
Minnesota's case, I don't know if they have a package
that would work for it, because it's gonna be very
pick based if you're a Milwaukee but I mean you're
behind that. Then you even have teams like the Suns
who have Jalen Green probably gonna be healthy fully next year,

as well as Devin Booker.

Like there are teams coming up.

Not that Dallas isn't gonna be in that fold, but

watching what Matt's pointing out there. So how do you
assess this series? Like we've talked so much about today
in this week, the rivalry between these two series, and
I kind of heard some people feel on the lines of, well,
it's in May and it's just another series. Do you

feel added important to the series because to the Dodgers
or it's another series?
Speaker 8 (23:08):
Yeah, of course, of course you feel added importance. Man,
they're back to back champs. They are kind of the
big dog in baseball, and we've played them neck and
neck back to back nights. Easily could have won last night.
I think a couple of things didn't go our way. Obviously,
the air in the ninth innings just sometimes that's baseball.
But these are great games. If you've watched these last
two games and you're a fan of either team and

you don't believe these games have felt a little different
than your average game of playing the Diamondbacks on a Wednesday,
you're a liar. Yeah, if you're a true If you're
a true fan, you know the importance. Does this game
count the same as you know a random game against
the A's this weekend. Yeah, but there is a different level. Man.

These teams don't like each other, the fan bases don't
like each other, and you know, it's there's adding importance.
There's a reason why it was the big story last
night was Dodgers Padres. Probably gonna be the same thing tonight.

I do feel like it adds something to it, and
it's fun when the you know, the fan bases don't
like each other. Like you said, so, it's fun when
you get that, especially in baseball, which can feel a
little monotonous throughout the season. Where are you at with
Like I think the last two nights has been a
real testament to me. We'll get to the hitting part
in a second, but to the pitching staff, like it's

pretty amazing to me. Like Griffy Canning, who I know
you're tight with, Like you know, gave it the two
run shot in the first inning, but really kind of
settled down it was able to get through it. Or
Michael King was unbelievable the other night. Like the pitching staff,
what they've been able to do without Joe Musko, without
Nick Povetta. I think It's pretty shocking, and I at
least didn't think that was gonna happen this this far

into the season.

This is a good baseball team, man. You know, obviously
the record speaks for itself. But I won't lie. Like
some of these games you watch, you're like, all right,
go into the march or whatever. This was the first
real test for me where I'm like, Okay, at home,
you're a game and a half or a half game
back against the Dodgers. I know it's May. I know
it's extremely early. There's gonna be a lot of ebbs
and flows in this season, injuries, all this stuff. But

if you really think about this, this team is going
neck and neck with, in my opinion, the best team
in baseball, the team with the best odds to win
the World Series. These are real games. This is a
really hey you had it sounds like they're pitching scrubs either,
Like these are real guys in their rotation that they're pitching.
Obviously we play show hey tonight. Pitching staff wise, our
bullpen has been really, really good. I want to give

a special shout out to one guy who I honestly
think there's an argument is gonna end up by the
end of the season being our second best reliever. Met's
Bradsley Rodriguez. Man, Bradley Rodriguez is untouchable. If you're into
the advanced stats, look at Bradley Rodriguez's you know, baseball
savant page. I don't think he's given up a barrel
all season. The dude's been absolutely electric. And if that's

your fourth or fifth best quote unquote reliever in your bullpen,
your bullpen is awesome. Obviously, Mason last night, Hey news
slash not everybody. He's a human being. That ball that
he had that guy picked off, you know it happens, man,
that's baseball. But like Mason, Miller still didn't give up
a hit that editning. It's like Moray Hone clutching up.
I don't think people appreciate how crazy that was. With

Adrian Morey hoone runnerund third, you have faced Freddie Freeman
and Kyle Tucker, a combined almost billion dollars worth of
money that both of those guys have made, and he's
striking both out. That's our seven dinting guy. The team's cracked.
And that's not even talking about the offense, where we
have some unsung Heroes. I think this is a really
good baseball team. In the last two nights are probably

the most confident I've been about this team and what
I think they're going to be for the entire season.

Are you constarted with the lack of velocity or are
you just kind of had a great start.

Excited for him going forward.

A little bit of both. But the first let's talk
about the start. He you know, he pitched well, man,
that was a great first start. What a great first impression.
Sunday Night Baseball, we get the sweep. That was awesome.
I won't lie. When I first saw that it was
like eighty nine miles for our fourts team fastball, I
thought my app was wrong, but I ended up figuring out,

hey man, he didn't have a normal start.

To the season.

Obviously, he got signs almost a month ago, even less
than a month ago, a couple rehab starts, that's not normal,
so it's going to take a little while to get
that fastball velocity up. I think he had a couple
of interviews talking about it. I think this is going
to be another great addition of the rotation. Do I
think Lucas Ciledo is going to be our Game one
starter in the playoffs? Probably not. Do I think Lucas
Ciledo can give us some big innings in one hundred

and sixty two game seasons where when he's pitching, I
think we have a shot. That's all I care about, Sammy.
That's the thing with Griffin too, Like I feel like
our fan base turned off in a little bit. He
had a bad start against Milwaukee. But when Griffin Canning's
on the bump, I think he is going to the
team a shot. That's all I want on my starting pitchers.
Not every time. You're not always gonna get Michael King
performances where they go, you know, seven innings of eleven case,

let's be real, that's not baseball. These other teams were
playing are good teams too. But if you have a
pitcher that you know can give you a three, eight
or two ere keep your team in the game. Then
it's the offensive job to get some runs on the board.
I mean last night's a perfect example. Griff had gave
up the two run home run to Freddie Freeman. It
seems like everyone was about to, you know, jump off

the Griffin Canning bandwagon and be like, oh, this guy's
this guy's not good. Locked in man The runn he
gave up in the fifth or sixth inning was a
Taoscar Hernandez. I think expected batting average was like less
than one hundred. He ball hits off the base, goes
over Manny's head, he gets a double, two sacks flies,
they score a run. Like that's just unfortunate. But Griffin
(28:48):
Canning pitch really well. In my opinion, I think Lucas
has looked good. I'm excited to see him pitch against
the A's. But I'm very, very confident in this team
right now. I honestly, if you were to talk to me,
even after the Mariners series to now, these past two
games have really shown me a lot. Reminds me a
lot of the twenty twenty four season, where I think
we're neck and neck with really good teams.

I'm with you, Matt. I do think that the Pottery's
pitching staff.
Speaker 2 (29:09):
I think sometimes because of the lack of production from
at least the Big three on offense, has put the
pitching staff in They've gotten some criticism when it's like
they've been nails and they've been giving you chances to
win games, and when the potteris haven't been playing the
best baseball, it's because the offense hasn't really come through.
I think it's unfair some of the expectations that we
heap on this rotation.

What do you think? So the Big three?
Speaker 2 (29:31):
So it was great Sea Manny get going last night
had the two run blast. You know that the average
is still down. Fernando gets two hits, you know the
one the other night went off hurt. One was a bloop,
So still not really having that power. Where are you
at with those three? Like are you what is your
concern level? Because we're seeing guys like Gavid Cheets and
Anahark carry the team, which is great in one regard,

but in the other regard.

It's like you'd like to see the Big three get going.
Speaker 8 (29:54):
Yeah, yeah, I mean you're not gonna win anything if
those three don't hit right. That's let's just see honest,
you could probably win some games. You could have a
good month or two with like you know, Gavin Cheets,
who's been awesome and do horror Ty France, a lot
of guys that have been stepping up and then playing
really well. That being said, that's probably not going to
lead this team to a lot of success in October.

The three guys that are getting paid a ton other
than Zander Bogart, who has actually been pretty consistent, right
seven thirty to seven to fifty ops guy, which is
probably what he's going to be majority of his padre's career.
The three guys we really need to get going are
Manny Machado, who's batting like one to eighty five, Fernando
Tatis Junior who hasn't a home run, and Jackson Merrill,
who honestly is probably benefited a little bit by the
other two sinking because he hasn't really been that good.

I am concerned a little bit, to be completely honest,
Like Tatis is my guy. I think he's playing really
hard right now, which is great to see, but we
don't pay him to be Sean Figgins. We pay him
to be Fernando Tatis Junior. Right, you don't get paid
twenty five million dollars this year to hit no home runs.
I don't care how good your defense is. I don't
(31:00):
care how many bases you steal. You know, someone called
him Fernando Azacar, right, kind of as a choke to
Jose Azikar. He has been playing like Jose Azikar, plays
hard defense and running hard. That is great, and I
love the hustle the brother. We need some extra Bay hits.
You're in that line of every single game. Obviously last
night two singles, great soul bag awesome, But we need

it a little bit more out of him. Manny will
get his numbers. I'm not worried about Manny as much
as I'm worried about the other two. The thing about
Jackson Merril and I like Jackson Marrol. I think he's
a hard worker. I think he plays hard. He had
one great year. Last year wasn't that great, and this
year hasn't been a great start. I hate saying this
because you know, everybody on our fan base is always

on Fernando and always on Manny. It's like, dude, this
guy got paid like a superstar. He needs to start
playing like a superstar. So I'm a little concerned about him.
And this is coming from an extremely optimistic guy, but
I was expecting Jackson Merril to be a twenty five
to thirty five home run guy. I was expecting him
to be a lot more like Corbyn Carroll. Then you know,
a six hundred ops centerfielder that could play. I was

thinking more n Corbyn Carroll than Kevin Kiermeyer. Is kind
of if you're a baseball fan and he's been a
little bit more Kevin Kiermeyer, right, great defense for home run,
just like, come on, Jack, we need a little bit more.

in the game that you had tickets to but didn't
go to.

Yeah, I heard that story yesterday.

That insane we were.

We did a three hour show for a game that
lasted two hours and thirty five minutes. We probably did

In the last ten or fifteen years, I would always
find a way to have it on my phone if

for March madness. And I would put it in my

book bag and because my I'd be like, I'm not

and I would bring a television with it. It's fantastic

it on the palm of my hands, like I'd sit

year has been when he's pitching he hasn't been hitting.
It goes to show you what the Dodgers think of
the Potters in terms of a rivalry. He's hitting tonight,

maybe the Angels because of the used to play form,
but the Potters. It goes to show the Potterys have

a fun playoff type of atmosphere in the series. Last
night was a game you feel like could have gone
either way. Watching the games, it's kind of funny how
game one, I feel like the Dodgers probably should have
won that game, and then game two, I feel like

the Potteri's probably should have won that game. Considering it,
you know, Ramon Loreano hit that one of the track,
Nick Costiano's hit that one of the track, and just
for the Pods unfortunately didn't really you didn't amount to

Potters had a big performance against in Game one. Cubs
won the next two games. The Brewers, a team that

and the NLCS last year. Outside of really one inning
from Gavin Sheets in the ninth inning, they played terrible
that series. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, they were just able. They
got destroyed by Miserowski on that Tuesday game, were able
to get to u Reba, which I give him credit for,

and then I give them credit for how they performed
over the weekend. That was a very solid series win
against the Mariners, taken on Kirby and I know N
cal Raley wasn't there, but that was impressive to get
a sweep on the road. Now, you got the Dodgers.
This is a a opportunity for the Potterys to show
who they are, because I think if they lose tonight,

at least nationally and I think locally as well, we're
gonna sit here and go, okay, Well, you won one
game at home. The game was one zero. The Dodgers
had countless opportunities with runners on. Mookie Betts had first
and third two different times, didn't come through there.

Otani hit wanted the track, Max Munsey won of the track.

And I don't think anyone thinks that you can sustainably
win won nothing throughout the rest of the rest of
the year. I think if you win this game tonight,
then all of a sudden a you put teams on
notice like, no, the potteris you here to stay.

And if they're winning this game.

Tonight, you got to think it's because they somehow get
to Otani. And when the Potteris have faced elite level
starting pitching, I give him credit for that kind of
beatier pitchers. They got after Ranger Suarez in Boston, they
got after Kirby over the weekend against the Mariners, Bubba
Chandler with the Pirates, very solid pitcher, uh Mitch Keller
like there was.

Good pictures that they've roughed up a little bit when
they faced the elite, and there's a reason why these
are all elite level pitchers. Chick and Mizowski ran through
them last week despite them getting to win at the end.
We'll get with Gavin Sheets. Scooball got after him on
opening day. Ram ra Valdez got after him, Paul Skeens
got after him. They got after the Logan Web a
couple of times. But show Yotani is in that mold

where they could have a chance to get them. Hell,
Yoshan Obimamoto isn't that mold. They didn't get to Yoshinobmamoto.
They just had an excellent pitching performance from Michael King
and the bullpen took over. It really shut things down
for the Padres. But this is a prime opportunity in
front of everyone nationally watching. I mean, the Brewers playing

the Cubs, big time series in the NL, and now
you get the Potter's and the Dodgers. You kind of
look at that a little bit, you know, without the
Phillies is kind of maybe a big four, certainly in
the NL. Teams that you're gonna have to deal with.
I think you throw the Phillies in there as well,
the way they've been playing under Don Mattingly. But this
is a prime opportunity for the Potterre's bats to come
alive because it feels like over the last couple of days,

like if they win this game tonight, I think the
outlook on the Potter's is very exciting. I think if
they lose this game tonight, you go, we're still having
the questions is this sustainable?

roughed up in an inning. Randy Vasque has been tremendous
so far for the Potteris Griffin Canny. I give a
lot of credit to last night after getting blasted by
Freddie Freeman the first inning he battled in that game.

the ability to show out is with the bats tonight,
and they have to.

Madie Manchado, look if the big three we've.

One was a blue pit one you know was it
was a challenge, Uh, you know, was close to being

But if one of those guys can get it together,
and many minchatdo last night with the two run blast
certainly had it had a big moment in that game
where it looked it felt like immediately when the Dodgers

you know they they came out firing after the bats
being a kneemake on Monday, I give I give Madie
Chatla a lot of credit. I mean, he killed that
ball from Shehn. And this is what's what's tricky, because

it feels like every guy has a different problem. Marril
just looks lost right now at the plate. Tatis is
getting hits his average, but his power is not there.
And the exact opposite is for Many Minchado. Many Minchado's
average is horrendous, but the power is still there.

I mean, at least he's hitting some home runs.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
We've we've talked that nausea about the fact that Fernando
Tatis has not hit a home run up to this
point in the season. So but along with everyone else,
I mean, Miguel Andahar and Gavin Sheet looked like the
two signings of a decade what aj Peller has been
able to do. Ideally, you wouldn't be relying on Miguel
Andahar and Gavin Cheets to carry your offense. But it's
good that the Potteris have the ability so that when

these three guys are slumping, the Potterys have the ability
to carry the offense with the supporting cast.

But what you really need is at least one of the.

Three of these guys to get it together, because that's
been the problem with the Potter's recently, despite them the
record being good, is it feels like all three have
been Frankly, the Troci is the plate and it's it's
you're asking the rest of the pitching staff in the
supporting cast to be.

So good that it just puts a lot of straining.

You don't feel like it's the most sustainable way to
wait for the Pottery to play baseball. I think two
things can be true. I think we can celebrate the
Potter's record and like give them flowers for what they've
been able to do up to this point, while also
being concerned about the fact that the big time bats
haven't been there.

Not winning the World Series of Fernando Tatis and manum
Manchato and Jackson Merrill continue at this rate, this is
it's not happening. The chances of yavint Sheets and McKellan
are being the MVPs, no shots to them are very low.

Preller has put together a very good roster and a
very good supporting cast to be able to weather the

storm when these big time players are not playing up
to snuff. So this what leads me back to tonight.
This would be the prime opportunity where Donnar still on
the broadcast say, at last night, Fernando Tatists was ever

actually an interesting matchup play for the Spurs because they

not not be dealing with because there was just a
mess and even though you got Cooper Flag, it still
was a disaster. And that you traded Luca for Anthony Davis,
who is now no longer with you didn't get a
lot of draft picks. But it came out today per
Sham Seronia that Luca or that he was actually with it,
Jayson Kid was actually with them, kind of moving on

from Luca. So much has been made about is this
an attractive job, because everyone's like, oh, today, this is
the most attractive job in the NBA.

You get Cooper Flag who's on his way up.

I do think it's very attractive because they have bigs.
They got Derek Lively, we'll see if they resigned Daniel Gafford.

You have wing players and PJ.

Washington, and you have you have Cooper Flagg, who's an
abject star.

Max Christy was a nice pick up in that Laker trade.

But is it that attractive of a job because all
we hear about is how which I don't necessarily agree with.
But all we hear about is, well, you know, the
Spurs and Thunder gonna dominate for the next ten years.
I mean, if you're in the Western Conference, what are
you gonna even be able to do? And I don't
hold that sentiment because as we've seen, we thought the

Nuggets were gonna be a dynasty, the Celtics we're gonna
be a dyasty thought, the Thunder we're gonna be a dynasty,
and all of a sudden, they're losing one game to
none to the San Antonio Spurs now that they can't
win this series and win a championship. But I do
think the Western Conference, like you have some teams waiting.
But in terms of the Mavericks, is that job attractive?
I don't think so because you a have Cooper Flag.
But so you're behind the Thunder and the Spurs. You're

behind the Lakers, who have Luca in a bunch of
the cap space to be able to work. The Rockets
are gonna get a point guard, which was their downfall
last year because they didn't have Fred van Vliet.

He's gonna be back in the fold and they're gonna
go get somebody.
Speaker 2 (19:27):
Then you got Minnesota, who feels like they're a little
bit capped out about what they could do right now,
but they do have Anthony Yowarts and per JOm Sharani
on the Pat McAfee show, the Lakers and the Timberwolves
are looking to add Giannis because they're looking at the
Thunder and Spurs going hey, we gotta we gotta compete
here now.

I don't know if they have the packages to get
it done.

You feel like with the Lakers that involve a sign
and trade with Austin Reeves, which I don't know where
Giannis and Luca just gets you by themselves. And in
Minnesota's case, I don't know if they have a package
that would work for it, because it's gonna be very
pick based if you're a Milwaukee but I mean you're
behind that. Then you even have teams like the Suns
who have Jalen Green probably gonna be healthy fully next year,

as well as Devin Booker.

assess this series? Like we've talked so much about today
in this week, the rivalry between these two series, and
I kind of heard some people feel on the lines of, well,
it's in May and it's just another series. Do you

feel added important to the series because to the Dodgers
or it's another series?

Yeah, of course, of course you feel added importance. Man,
they're back to back champs. They are kind of the
big dog in baseball, and we've played them neck and
neck back to back nights. Easily could have won last night.
I think a couple of things didn't go our way. Obviously,
the air in the ninth innings just sometimes that's baseball.
But these are great games. If you've watched these last
two games and you're a fan of either team and

you don't believe these games have felt a little different
than your average game of playing the Diamondbacks on a Wednesday,
you're a liar. Yeah, if you're a true If you're
a true fan, you know the importance. Does this game
count the same as you know a random game against
the A's this weekend. Yeah, but there is a different level. Man.

These teams don't like each other, the fan bases don't
like each other, and you know, it's there's adding importance.
There's a reason why it was the big story last
night was Dodgers Padres. Probably gonna be the same thing tonight.

I do feel like it adds something to it, and
it's fun when the you know, the fan bases don't
like each other. Like you said, so, it's fun when
you get that, especially in baseball, which can feel a
little monotonous throughout the season. Where are you at with
Like I think the last two nights has been a
real testament to me. We'll get to the hitting part
in a second, but to the pitching staff, like it's

pretty amazing to me. Like Griffy Canning, who I know
you're tight with, Like you know, gave it the two
run shot in the first inning, but really kind of
settled down it was able to get through it. Or
Michael King was unbelievable the other night. Like the pitching staff,
what they've been able to do without Joe Musko, without
Nick Povetta. I think It's pretty shocking, and I at
least didn't think that was gonna happen this this far

into the season.

This is a good baseball team, man. You know, obviously
the record speaks for itself. But I won't lie. Like
some of these games you watch, you're like, all right,
go into the march or whatever. This was the first
real test for me where I'm like, Okay, at home,
you're a game and a half or a half game
back against the Dodgers. I know it's May. I know
it's extremely early. There's gonna be a lot of ebbs
and flows in this season, injuries, all this stuff. But

if you really think about this, this team is going
neck and neck with, in my opinion, the best team
in baseball, the team with the best odds to win
the World Series. These are real games. This is a
really hey you had it sounds like they're pitching scrubs either,
Like these are real guys in their rotation that they're pitching.
Obviously we play show hey tonight. Pitching staff wise, our
bullpen has been really, really good. I want to give

a special shout out to one guy who I honestly
think there's an argument is gonna end up by the
end of the season being our second best reliever. Met's
Bradsley Rodriguez. Man, Bradley Rodriguez is untouchable. If you're into
the advanced stats, look at Bradley Rodriguez's you know, baseball
savant page. I don't think he's given up a barrel
all season. The dude's been absolutely electric. And if that's

your fourth or fifth best quote unquote reliever in your bullpen,
your bullpen is awesome. Obviously, Mason last night, Hey news
slash not everybody. He's a human being. That ball that
he had that guy picked off, you know it happens, man,
that's baseball. But like Mason, Miller still didn't give up
a hit that editning. It's like Moray Hone clutching up.
I don't think people appreciate how crazy that was. With

Adrian Morey hoone runnerund third, you have faced Freddie Freeman
and Kyle Tucker, a combined almost billion dollars worth of
money that both of those guys have made, and he's
striking both out. That's our seven dinting guy. The team's cracked.
And that's not even talking about the offense, where we
have some unsung Heroes. I think this is a really
good baseball team. In the last two nights are probably

the most confident I've been about this team and what
I think they're going to be for the entire season.

Sunday Night Baseball, we get the sweep. That was awesome.
I won't lie. When I first saw that it was
like eighty nine miles for our fourts team fastball, I
thought my app was wrong, but I ended up figuring out,

hey man, he didn't have a normal start.

Obviously, he got signs almost a month ago, even less
than a month ago, a couple rehab starts, that's not normal,
so it's going to take a little while to get
that fastball velocity up. I think he had a couple
of interviews talking about it. I think this is going
to be another great addition of the rotation. Do I
think Lucas Ciledo is going to be our Game one
starter in the playoffs? Probably not. Do I think Lucas
Ciledo can give us some big innings in one hundred

and sixty two game seasons where when he's pitching, I
think we have a shot. That's all I care about, Sammy.
That's the thing with Griffin too, Like I feel like
our fan base turned off in a little bit. He
had a bad start against Milwaukee. But when Griffin Canning's
on the bump, I think he is going to the
team a shot. That's all I want on my starting pitchers.
Not every time. You're not always gonna get Michael King
performances where they go, you know, seven innings of eleven case,

let's be real, that's not baseball. These other teams were
playing are good teams too. But if you have a
pitcher that you know can give you a three, eight
or two ere keep your team in the game. Then
it's the offensive job to get some runs on the board.
I mean last night's a perfect example. Griff had gave
up the two run home run to Freddie Freeman. It
seems like everyone was about to, you know, jump off
(28:28):
the Griffin Canning bandwagon and be like, oh, this guy's
this guy's not good. Locked in man The runn he
gave up in the fifth or sixth inning was a
Taoscar Hernandez. I think expected batting average was like less
than one hundred. He ball hits off the base, goes
over Manny's head, he gets a double, two sacks flies,
they score a run. Like that's just unfortunate. But Griffin
(28:48):
Canning pitch really well. In my opinion, I think Lucas
has looked good. I'm excited to see him pitch against
the A's. But I'm very, very confident in this team
right now. I honestly, if you were to talk to me,
even after the Mariners series to now, these past two
games have really shown me a lot. Reminds me a
lot of the twenty twenty four season, where I think
we're neck and neck with really good teams.
Speaker 3 (29:06):
I'm with you, Matt. I do think that the Pottery's
pitching staff.
Speaker 2 (29:09):
I think sometimes because of the lack of production from
at least the Big three on offense, has put the
pitching staff in They've gotten some criticism when it's like
they've been nails and they've been giving you chances to
win games, and when the potteris haven't been playing the
best baseball, it's because the offense hasn't really come through.
I think it's unfair some of the expectations that we
heap on this rotation.
Speaker 3 (29:29):
What do you think? So the Big three?
Speaker 2 (29:31):
So it was great Sea Manny get going last night
had the two run blast. You know that the average
is still down. Fernando gets two hits, you know the
one the other night went off hurt. One was a bloop,
So still not really having that power. Where are you
at with those three? Like are you what is your
concern level? Because we're seeing guys like Gavid Cheets and
Anahark carry the team, which is great in one regard,

but in the other regard.

It's like you'd like to see the Big three get going.
Speaker 8 (29:54):
Yeah, yeah, I mean you're not gonna win anything if
those three don't hit right. That's let's just see honest,
you could probably win some games. You could have a
good month or two with like you know, Gavin Cheets,
who's been awesome and do horror Ty France, a lot
of guys that have been stepping up and then playing
really well. That being said, that's probably not going to
lead this team to a lot of success in October.

The three guys that are getting paid a ton other
than Zander Bogart, who has actually been pretty consistent, right
seven thirty to seven to fifty ops guy, which is
probably what he's going to be majority of his padre's career.
The three guys we really need to get going are
Manny Machado, who's batting like one to eighty five, Fernando
Tatis Junior who hasn't a home run, and Jackson Merrill,
who honestly is probably benefited a little bit by the
other two sinking because he hasn't really been that good.
(30:39):
I am concerned a little bit, to be completely honest,
Like Tatis is my guy. I think he's playing really
hard right now, which is great to see, but we
don't pay him to be Sean Figgins. We pay him
to be Fernando Tatis Junior. Right, you don't get paid
twenty five million dollars this year to hit no home runs.
I don't care how good your defense is. I don't
(31:00):
care how many bases you steal. You know, someone called
him Fernando Azacar, right, kind of as a choke to
Jose Azikar. He has been playing like Jose Azikar, plays
hard defense and running hard. That is great, and I
love the hustle the brother. We need some extra Bay hits.
You're in that line of every single game. Obviously last
night two singles, great soul bag awesome, But we need
(31:22):
it a little bit more out of him. Manny will
get his numbers. I'm not worried about Manny as much
as I'm worried about the other two. The thing about
Jackson Merril and I like Jackson Marrol. I think he's
a hard worker. I think he plays hard. He had
one great year. Last year wasn't that great, and this
year hasn't been a great start. I hate saying this
because you know, everybody on our fan base is always
(31:43):
on Fernando and always on Manny. It's like, dude, this
guy got paid like a superstar. He needs to start
playing like a superstar. So I'm a little concerned about him.
And this is coming from an extremely optimistic guy, but
I was expecting Jackson Merril to be a twenty five
to thirty five home run guy. I was expecting him
to be a lot more like Corbyn Carroll. Then you know,
a six hundred ops centerfielder that could play. I was

thinking more n Corbyn Carroll than Kevin Kiermeyer. Is kind
of if you're a baseball fan and he's been a
little bit more Kevin Kiermeyer, right, great defense for home run,
just like, come on, Jack, we need a little bit more.

Not here after Game five of the DS against the Dodgers,
I was in Laramie, Wyoming. It was the night before
San Diego State played Wyoming on the road. In Shawn Los'
first year. The Dodgers beat the Padres at Dodger stating
in the game that you had tickets to but didn't
go to.

Yeah, I heard that story yesterday.
Speaker 7 (34:33):
That insane we were.
Speaker 9 (34:35):
We did a three hour show for a game that
lasted two hours and thirty five minutes. We probably did
three and a half hours.

That was all lost to people.

Are just so mad insane hours. Yeah, a lot of that.
That's that's the that's the that's the setting to do
a three and a half hour show. Now, at least
at least you should do. You should do after the

San Diego State played, I forgot they played on Saturday
night and the Lakers beat the Knicks.

That was the Knicks game and it was kind of

Went back and watched Dollan that night and I wanted
to see like how that played out, because you were
about to sign off.

I was probably three minutes away.

You were to get into the poison, like basically.

One hour on a post game.

That's a lot.

And then and the best part of your reaction was
the fact that you didn't believe it. Like every other
NBA You're like no, You're like, no, I know that
it's Chams, but I'm.

Like, guys, I'm not obviously not, I'm not. I was
even telling you like, I'm not going to read this.
And then people in the chat with like you're talking
about it was talking about I'm not reading what you
want me to read. And then the pieces started coming together.
You looked like ten minutes.

From oh yeah, all right.

Maybe this is really you Niver see that video of
that that like nightclub in Dallas that was that was
like it was a nightco Saturday night. And then they
cut in the DJ and said Luca got traded, and
it was just silence. They cut the music and it
was just silent in the entire club was like look
at each other, like.

There was like this. I think this like, I don't
even know what it was.

There's probably five six different reactions of that.

It was like weddings bars.

It was DJs stopping what they're doing and say, we
got an announcement to Luca got traded. Luca, doncons just
got traded. People stop of that at your wedding. It's
like a wedding where they're making an announcement like something
just happening in the Country's.

Insane speaking of a wedding, have you Ben Fletcher has
been complaining gests got all these weddings or he used
to miss sporting events?
Speaker 3 (37:19):
I know so so hard his life.
Speaker 2 (37:21):
What is the what is the one sporting event that
both of you look back, You're like, I had to
miss it for some reason. Something you couldn't get out
of that that drove you crazy and you were like
the whole time, We're like, why am I here?
Speaker 7 (37:33):
I mean, I'll always find a way in this world.
Speaker 9 (37:35):
In the last ten or fifteen years, I would always
find a way to have it on my phone if
I no matter where I was. If you're right about that,
I would find what about when you were a kid,
but as a kid, I mean I would bring an
actual handheld television within I antenna, like these like pocket
TVs that were like seven inches, so scraff. It's just
for March madness. And I would put it in my

book bag and because my I'd be like, I'm not
on school day. She's like, yes, you are, my mom,
and I would bring a television with it. It's fantastic
out of like Baalakan with middle school. I'm like, you know,
I'm like moving and shaking before the Internet.

But I forgot how I did it. But I kind
of have an idea. And I can't remember which year
it was. I think it was. It's either ninety six
or ninety eight.

Let me just pretend it's ninety I'm gonna assume it's
the ninety eight year pod Raiser in the playoffs, so
they got this. They end up getting to the World Series.
But before then you got obviously.

I think they played Astros, they had the Braves, and
however they got to eventually get to the Yankees. Well,
it's one of the more idiotic things in baseball, which
still happens today. You have like Wednesday day games at
one oh yeah, in the play games, and I'm like, Chris,
if the hell do you want like this your city
to do at one o'clock and either you can't go

to the game or it's on the road, and it's
like everybody who.

Gets a chance to watch this and actually enjoy the game.
So at school I brought like, uh, there was a
walkman at the time, right, that's what we had.

Yeah, yeah, and I.

Put like I I eventually I eventually put it to
where John the speaker was right here, so I had
it on the palm of my hands, like I'd sit
like this and I'm listening to the game.

And then you know, a couple of people knew, so
I tell them to score.

But by the time you're like like ten minutes into
the you know, the class, the teachers just like, well.

Just tell us all what's going on right right? So

The last Padres NLCS game that they won was in
the middle of the day against Philly.

It was like just.

Idiotic crazy because of the Alcs being played that same day.
So whenever they do the two games in baseball, they'll
still do the day night, where in the NBA they won't.
Brother Imagine an NBA Tuesday game at one pm.

Just play both games at the same time, have them
