in Look, the bats weren't there and the Phillies finally

broke through. But Walker, Buehler, Randy Vasquez, a lot of
these guys have consistently at least given the Pottery's opportunities.
And again when you go on the road in Philadelphia
Phillies and only scored two runs. You're not you're not
expected to win, Like you can't even think that you're
gonna win that game. So with the Pottery is moving forward,
it's just I don't know how a J Preller attacks

attacks the deadline, because if you're a J Preller, I mean,
are you one bad away? I think the bullpen set,

back around the All Star break, Nick Pivetta will come back,

try to build the most stifling, unbelievable bullpen you can
put together, knowing that Muskrum Paveda are coming back. You'll
see what happens there. You added Giolito a month ago.
He's been a good ad so far. I think I
know there's been concerns about his fastball, maybe you know,

again Jilido's been good in the starts he's had, and

ideally Lucas gi Alito is a fourth or a fifth
starter for this team when everyone's back healthy. Maybe the
think of aj Preller is, let's just build this unbelievable bullpen.

still a very solid piece. Jeremiah Strada A Bradriguez been
very good, being a nice fine for the pottery's organization.

Chapman is the way to go. The hater piece is
interesting because when he was a Padre, you had the

you want to be giving up prospects for him. But
I mean, I don't know how many big league sluggers

the Padre's really in a win now mode, because again,
I just I don't know that even adding one big
bat puts them over the hump. I don't know if
I don't know if that makes them some World Series contender.
Now when you have the Dodgers that they you know,
the Pottery's lost a series two, the Phillies who are
four and oh against the Pottery. So far, the Cubs

beat the Pottery's in a series. The Nationals just beat
him in a series. I mean, the Brewers beat him
in a series. Now that there's not time for the
Potteris to fix this. But when the Pottery's stepped up
in competition, they haven't fared very well.

Hopefully things starting to shift for Fernando Tatis, whereas many Machado,

they've been there before. Typically it takes great players a

Kobe first year or two, Lebron like all these greats
have not just had immediate success and went to the
NBA Finals take down the Thunder game seven on the
road is there's all the credit in the world for that.
So he was very emotional postgame, rightfully, So you just
beat the Oklahoma City Thunder, the defending champs going to
the NBA Finals. Kevin Garnett on his podcast had some

certainly could thought the Nuggets in the Celtics. Both those
teams were going to be constant fixtures in the title
picture every year. And then Oklahoma City with Sam Presty,
all the draft picks, Shay check, Jaylen Williams, you get
aj Mitchell this year they were gonna go on a run.

Now Wenby is rightfully deserving praise. Has it gone a
little too far over the last couple of days one
hundred percent? I mean Colin Coward was talking about how
Wenby could Wenby could make the Goat conversation mute because
it would be Lebron and Jordan battling for second place.

it adds to this finals matchup. But for the people

twenty seven to one to fourteen. The Knicks are actually

only one of two teams this year, them and the
Golden State Warriors to beat Victor Lemeniyama twice in the
regular season. Twice in the regular season. Karl Anthony Towns
actually had some big performances in those games against him.
I really think this series is gonna come down to
can Mitchell Robinson and Karl Anthony Towns be a factor

offensively to the point where Wenby has to worry about
them on defense because the Spurs want to have Wenby
is kind of a free safety, kind of roaming around
able to just worry about offense, and they're gonna try
to get kar Anthony Townsend foul trouble.

The Niggas are gonna try to put og Ananobi, who
was much more stout, weighs a lot more than Alex

try to put him on Victor Wembenyama and then let
kat rome and be offensively reliable. I think that's gonna
be where the series is won and lost. This is

can Victor Wembenyama start this kind of trajectory of the
face of the NBA some people talking about could one
day answer the go conversation with a ring at age

and that Jalen Brunson can be the best player. And
not a lot of people gave the Nicks much chance
a couple of years ago or a couple of months
ago when they were kind of flailing during the regular season,
and now now all of a sudden, they're playing in
the NBA Finals. So I think the series will I
got the Knicks and seven, I do think.

games one and two of last series against the Thunder,
I think against the Knicks with the length that you

to slow down Stefan Castle and Dylan Harper to an extent,

not been the best player at least this series or
last series against the Oklahoma City Thunder gonna be a
blast to night. San Antonio four and a half point
favorites can't wait for the game and we'll see we'll

paid pitchers aren't even out there and you're throwing money

one seventies. That's unacceptable. We've talked a lot about Tatis
and the lack of home runs. Finally hit one last weekend,
and then Merrill doesn't look like the same player he
was his first year.

players and try to get some prospects back and recoup

I do think the Knicks have to have the makeup

He's been playing like an absolute star for the Knicks
so far. If the Spurs go win the series, it's

bat puts them over the hump. I don't know if

beat the Pottery's in a series. The Nationals just beat
him in a series. I mean, the Brewers beat him
in a series. Now that there's not time for the
Potteris to fix this. But when the Pottery's stepped up
in competition, they haven't fared very well.

Kobe first year or two, Lebron like all these greats
have not just had immediate success and went to the
NBA Finals take down the Thunder game seven on the
road is there's all the credit in the world for that.
So he was very emotional postgame, rightfully, So you just
beat the Oklahoma City Thunder, the defending champs going to
the NBA Finals. Kevin Garnett on his podcast had some

spicy comments, Brent, we have that sound about are we
getting in a second about him being emotional postgame and
what that like it meant?

all the draft picks, Shay check, Jaylen Williams, you get
aj Mitchell this year they were gonna go on a run.

Now Wenby is rightfully deserving praise. Has it gone a
little too far over the last couple of days one
hundred percent? I mean Colin Coward was talking about how
Wenby could Wenby could make the Goat conversation mute because
it would be Lebron and Jordan battling for second place.

back at twenty two years old playing in the NBA Finals.
Maybe he wins this series and he's already an NBA champion,
and we look back because he's seven four or has

But I do think we are quick to coronate guys

is ridiculous. Like, dude, let him celebrate. He deserves to celebrate.
He works super hard for this accomplishment, for this opportunity,

And you know, he was balling his eyes out when
he beat the Lakers in two thousand and eight in
Game seven of the NBA Finals.

you know, people are coronating him again. He's going to

it yet. That was a great accomplishment, but go do

it in the NBA Finals. I think you could have
avoided that a lot better. I think he could have
you know, focusing on the emotional part was definitely not

But there is expectations now they are the favorites in
this series. The Knicks are certainly live dogs. I think
it adds to this finals matchup. But for the people
that just kind of think the Spurs are gonna run

the NBA Cup. The Knicks took care of him one
twenty seven to one to fourteen. The Knicks are actually

only one of two teams this year, them and the
Golden State Warriors to beat Victor Lemeniyama twice in the
regular season. Twice in the regular season. Karl Anthony Towns
actually had some big performances in those games against him.
I really think this series is gonna come down to
can Mitchell Robinson and Karl Anthony Towns be a factor

offensively to the point where Wenby has to worry about
them on defense because the Spurs want to have Wenby
is kind of a free safety, kind of roaming around
able to just worry about offense, and they're gonna try
to get kar Anthony Townsend foul trouble.

He's had to sit on the bench a lot of
the time late in games because of foul trouble, and
mitchal Robinson has then come in because of that. But

and guys like that on Victor wenb Yama to throw
some different looks at him, not allowing entry passes, things

of agreeing with Becky Hammond that a player of Jalen
Brunson's stature can't be the best player on the championship

winning team if he wins. He the narrative on that
and that Jalen Brunson can be the best player. And
not a lot of people gave the Nicks much chance
a couple of years ago or a couple of months
ago when they were kind of flailing during the regular season,
and now now all of a sudden, they're playing in
the NBA Finals. So I think the series will I
got the Knicks and seven, I do think.

I think the Stefan Castle turnover numbers.

He had twenty turnovers to the first two games of
games one and two of last series against the Thunder,
I think against the Knicks with the length that you

to slow down Stefan Castle and Dylan Harper to an extent,

favorites can't wait for the game and we'll see we'll

that that is one hundred percent held this team down
in that he barely pitched last year, it's a little bit,
and when he did he wasn't very good. Not pitching
this year. Joe Musgrove didn't pitch last year, not pitch
so far this year. That's two years your two highest
paid pitchers aren't even out there and you're throwing money

at him. I mean, Machado once batting average in the
one seventies. That's unacceptable. We've talked a lot about Tatis
and the lack of home runs. Finally hit one last weekend,
and then Merrill doesn't look like the same player he
was his first year.

So look, it's it's I.

Don't even all doom and gloom, but to a five
eights point you do kind of start wondering did they
miss the window? And is the best thing with new ownership,
and you wonder what new ownership woul want to do?
Is this gonna be like a like The Lakers are
a perfect example. The Lakers are having the discussion right
now with the new Walters group up there who run

the Dodgers. Are you gonna fork everything out for Lebron
or are you gonna move on and build this thing
around Luca. All indications have been that they're gonna build
this franchise around Luca and they're kind of out of
the Lebron business, and there's some people who have been like,
why would you let go of Lebron? James forty two
years old, still playing an extremely high rate because the

Walters group, even if I think it actually will be
popular with Laker fans, I think Laker fans are.

Ready to be done with Lebron.

But that's not you know, the your first thing is removed,
letting Lebron James go. Certainly, it's gonna come with some
risks and I'm I'm for that, but it's gonna come
with some risks. With new management, with the Padres. It
gets me wondering, are they going to come in here
and go ad ad ad because we want to try to,

you know, win a world's race with this group, or
is this the perfect inflection point that you got as
far as you co with this core group of players,
and you know it's time to.

Kind of start scrap from scratch.

And I know a lot of people don't want to
hear this, but trade off some of these big name
players and try to get some prospects back and recoup
from the ground up.

A proclivity to putting a good roster on the field,
you know, having a good bullpen, finding depth, squeezing every
last ounce of you can get out.

Walker Bueler has been inserviceable to good starter. So far
the last couple of months, Randy Vask has taken growth.
Is it time to do that? To the A five
eighth point, I think there's some merit to it. I
mean it's especially if things keep tracking this way, because
it's hard with the pottery is because they have a
good record.

They're above five hundred.

So on paper, you go, well, wait, why would they
you know, why would you be dumping everyone? But then
when you watch the team, I don't really get the
They don't look like to me a World Series winning team.

it a lot when they when they don't beat good teams,

seven out of eight. That's pretty much sums up this team.

something to this of when do you start thinking about that?

Is if they fall out of the playoff picture, or
is it if they just don't look good but they're
still hanging around and people don't really think they have

some of these guys. Maybe it's time to you know, realize,

far as we can with this core group of players,

as there are two stars on team friendly contracts, the
team is old and bloated Xanders to Harris and may

The number one problem with this team is the Big
three it's not the bullpen, not the starring rotation, not

wild card spot. But Diamondbacks look better than him right now.
The Phillies certainly look better than him right now. The
Nationals beat him in two or three games. We know

what the Dodgers are. We know Milwaukee has the pottery's

the best pitchers in baseball and miss Arrowski in a
one to two I mean, so it's just it's a
little bleak right now. It's it's and with this game today,

about having some pride. This guy is going for the

keep up his career and play the longevity that Lebron
and Jordan have played. But it's just again, it's we
just annoint these guys immediately. And I'm very excited for
this game tonight. I picked the Knicks to win this
game tonight. The the the Knicks. The one thing if
you're going against the Knicks, if if you think that

the Spurs is gonna run through the series, the Knicks
in their playoff runs so far, opposing teams have only
shot about thirty one percent from the corner and threes,
which is a very lucky rate for this for the Knicks.
On average, you think wide open threes, you're gonna be
hitting more of those than just thirty one percent. So

the Knicks have been very fortunate in that regard. But
I do think the Knicks have to have the makeup
of a team of that. You have a star guard
in Jalen Bronson Karl Anthony Towns, even though over the
years when he's with Minnesota and other places, didn't didn't
always give you the you know, he was a major concern.
He's been playing like an absolute star for the Knicks
so far. If the Spurs go win the series, it's

gonna be because Dearon Fox takes it back or a
player like that like it can't. The Knicks are too
talented for it just to be Wemby. Wemby is gonna
get his, But we've also seen Wemby up his we
only played he's averaging about thirteen more minutes per game
so far as this playoff run, and then he played
in the regular season. And the Spurs depth, at least
(31:13):
in the front court, I think it's a concern to
behind Victor Wembinyama. So this is gonna have to be
if you're the Spur, it's gonna have to be Fox
or Castle or Vissel or Harper. One of these guys
are gonna have to come through. I think this is
a really fun NBA Finals matchup that feels evenly matched.
And in regards to pressure tonight, I do think the
Knicks actually have more pressure to get Game one.

You're catching the Spurs coming off an emotional Game seven
win this past Saturday. People have kind of thrown cold

Okay, I'm gonna let him kind of pick whatever he
wants me to eat. Can I tell you something, Yeah,
not like but but not like a lot of food.
I just need to just give me, like, give me
a couple of items. You're letting fry twinkie something.
Speaker 2 (34:16):
You're letting the vegetarian and vegan pick what to eat
an affair.
Speaker 6 (34:20):
No, he's not pick he's picking what I will eat,
not what he will eat. He's not gonna touch anything.
But if he tells me, hey, I want you to
go try this double fried battered oreos, sounds like the vegan.
Speaker 2 (34:32):
Though, telling you got to try this steak, this steak,
this steak is unbelievable. Like, I have some questions, do
you have the experience to be having an opinion on that.
That's where I'm at with you about John. John's gonna
be telling you what to eat. And I don't know
if John Shaffer great human being, great at his job
when it comes.
Speaker 3 (34:51):
To food, I don't know, Like you don't have to
justify his whole being. I mean, I'm just I'm just.
Speaker 2 (34:58):
When it comes to diagnosing where to go, when to
what to eat, John Shaffer would be way down my
list of people.

think he will say because he's not eating, He'll say,
go try that barbecue. He'll say this, like he's not eating.

I was having a conversation with my boys the other day.
So going up an SD, I go to the beach
like a decent amount. Yeah, but not like how you
would think like some people are who live in like Ansonita's.
I get you're there every day, because why would you be.
I mean, you're just right right outside. But it is
funny when you know that it's there, you kind of
go less.
Speaker 1 (35:42):

Well, for for me growing up, there was a combination of.
Speaker 6 (35:47):
There's a combination of just it's there and you're not
taking advantage of it. And it's also the combination of
just being Middle Eastern and alcohol. I think that also
had there was a little bit, there was a couple.
I think that was also a factor. What's kind of
funny is when I left San Diego and moved to
La eventually obviously moved my way back. I've been to

the beach so much more since I left st and
so much more over these last couple of years as
I've kind of transitioned back, I've gone to a beach
to the beach a ton and I think there's just
this different type of appreciation And I'm not even going like, oh,
you just went to Mission or he went to posits.
I mean, give me everything, give me you want to
give me card if you want me to go all

the way to Point Lomland, go to cabrio, like, I'll
go look at it in every possible way.
Speaker 2 (36:38):
Seven and six, so said John has had the deep
Fried tofu last time he was at the fair deep
Fried Tofu.
Speaker 6 (36:46):
JD Wickers, the athletic director for San Diego State, we're
at that event Novo last was it Thursday?
Speaker 3 (36:53):
I think it was. And he had never had kombucha before.
Speaker 6 (36:57):
And John, which we know, Schaeffer's he's king, he's the spokesperson.
Speaker 3 (37:01):
Yeah. Like people ask like, hey, how did kimbucha start?
Speaker 6 (37:05):
And you Schaeffer's garage right started a face with him,
the face of him right, he's on, He's on the
logo for all the ads there.
Speaker 3 (37:12):
And I forget what JD said.
Speaker 6 (37:14):
JD said something like is it a like a tofu
flavor kimbucha or something like that.
Speaker 3 (37:19):
So I would love.
Speaker 2 (37:20):
To ask if we have any bartenders who I'm sure
we do listening right now? Seven zero four seven zero
Start your messing with team. When someone comes up to
you at a bar and goes, give me the kombucha
with a splash of this, Like, are you thinking of
them less as a person with that order or are
you testing your bartender chops to get that?
Speaker 3 (37:42):
Like, what do you do with it? I don't even know.
Speaker 6 (37:44):
It's like it depends like if you're at it depends
the type of place you're at, right, Like, if you're
at a dive bar, the guy's just like, I don't
even know what the hell you're talking about, and he's
just gonna get you. Yeah, of cours Light or a
Jack Daniels. That's all we got on the menu exactly.
But if you're at there's plenty of spots now that
I think serve more of that world. They're just saying,
just take care of this personal fleet tips me well haha.
Speaker 2 (38:08):
On YouTube just shrimp ramen, funny and burrito at Chicken
Charlie's booth. Wow, say it again, give me the shrimp
ramen Funyan burrito.
Speaker 3 (38:19):
I gotta tell you all that. Wait, let me tell
you the worst part about all that.
Speaker 6 (38:23):
That actually sounds pretty decent. That's a bunch of a funyan.
Throw some shrimp and ramen in there. I'm not saying
no to either one of those. I'm not the right
person to ask for when it comes to food, man,
I like this stuff.
Speaker 2 (38:35):
Can you can you imagine if you're a doctor and
someone comes and goes, ah Ben having some indigestion, what'd
you eat last night? A shrimp funny and burrito with
ramen from the fair? Wash down with a with a
funnel cake? No, buddy, is that is that the best choice?
That does sound fantastic?
Speaker 6 (38:53):
Then you could tell the doctor you could just beck
look here, here's what happened. I'm at the Sangle County Fair.
What do you want me to do?
Speaker 3 (38:57):
You want me did not have the shrimp ramen funion?
Speaker 1 (39:00):
Well, I mean to not.

I'm gonna walk by the shrimp funion ramen burrito and
not have it.

That's extreme right there? This is good. It'll be fun.
It'll be fun to go to get out there, go
to that event. What was what was going on in

NBA Finals got to the potters.

Rich here said, I say we ruined Sanchez the scoreless
party tonight. Even if it's a cheap hit like the
one that ruined Miller's, I hope.

Today, so because they they got to look at him
last week. And if you're just pride of the San
Diego Potters, you cannot let the same guy who's going

So here's the here's the funny thing. I think it
has nothing to do with the pride. It has nothing
to do with what happened a week ago. I just
