to the telephone number, as well as other great information
about Hamsarborcare all on their website and join us this
morning from Hamsarborcare mester arborist Kevin Ham. Kevin, how you
doing this week?

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Very good, Sean. We're getting ready to take a shipment
of legacy trees.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
Oh, we're gonna talk about legacy trees. Tis the season
for sure on that, but real quick, I didn't want to.
Last week on the program, we mentioned that that school
bell that that you guys found up in the up
in the tree, and I had had a chance to
see the video of it, and that is really a
very cool find. That is a neat thing. Sounds like

(01:06):
an expensive thing as well.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Yeah, the the U shaped bracket underneath it mounts it
was was cracked from the tree growth. I think just
over time. It was kind of a rusty crack and uh,
and so we got that welded. Well, I guess those
nickel welding rods are fairly expensive. So we got that done.

(01:31):
And then tomorrow I bring my car in because we
hit a white deal a few weeks ago. Uh, going
to Legacy Trees training and at any rate, that car's
got to go in in the the auto. Uh body
place is going to paint that bell so kind of

(01:52):
lightly blast it and uh and make it a nice
flat black.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
It's gonna look crazy. You're gonna mount at the mountaine.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
We'll have to put a Game of Trees logo.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
Yeah, And I feel like when we do the show
and and if you're at the shop, you may have
to ring it a couple of times just so we
can get a get a here here, we're.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
Gonna have to to mount it up.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
And Yeah, that's gonna be That's gonna be super cool.
Speaking of of seeing some of those great videos, don't
forget at Game of Trees. That's at Game of Trees
on YouTube, very popular channel. Make sure you check out
those videos. Subscribe. I love watching them. See Uh some
of the strange things that they come across at Hams Arborcare,
some of the really cool work that they do. It's
also fun this time of year. We're literally one day

(02:35):
you'll see them out there working in the snow, and
the next day they'll be out and it'll be a
beautiful day in the short sleeve shirts and and the
great stuff. So make sure you're following them online.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
Yeah, Sean, On on that note, where my son Taylor
came up with an idea. You know, we drive around
a lot. Yeah, being tree guys, we see trees. Yeah, right,
and so we just see that a tree that's just
been sitting there forever is dead, and you know, and
maybe there's very circumstances that that maybe it's just probably

(03:05):
not gonna get prioritized, right, And so he's like, what
why don't we do like a free tree Friday? Oh
and and then you know, make a video out of it,
you know, And and because we work Monday through Thursday,
and so every so often we could we could do
a free tree Friday. And I'm going to launch one

(03:25):
here recently where it actually was a Friday and I
was doing a gradus job for a missionary friend of mine.
That's writing Partyville. And so that'll be our first free
Tree Friday release, and we'll probably release it on a
Friday just to make it all you know, kosher. You
won't interrupt our Sunday release schedule. Every Sunday morning at

(03:48):
five we release a new video, and so at any rate,
there will be just a random you know, and and
we're just gonna help somebody out every once in a
while on a Friday.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
That's super cool. And of course you can see that
as well at Game of Trees at Game of Trees
on their YouTube channel. That's good. I definitely look, I'm
looking forward to that. That's going to be really really
a very neat thing to do and really cool to
see you doing that as well. And Kevin, speaking of
the ground, is I was what eighty the other day
and a little chillier but still above freezing, which means

(04:23):
the ground is getting a little smoshy, getting a little soft,
which is a good time I think for a lot
of folks planting starts popping in their minds saying oh,
it's good time to start thinking about putting those trees
in and Legacy Trees and the Legacy Tree program. Something
you offer at Ham's Arborcare. This is a phenomenal program.
You think about what a great generational investment beautiful tree is.

(04:48):
This really gets those trees well established to ensure that
they are going to last for generations. Let's talk about
that Legacy Tree program and what all goes into it.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
Yeah, a very unique FI your warranty and we we
kind of touched that tree every year, and a lot
of times on the early couple of years. It's maybe
one or two cuts, but they're critical cuts because most
people ignore their tree for the first five years and
they think, oh, it's just looking so nice and bushy,

(05:19):
and and they're not noticing the detail that that we noticed,
and we say, oh that that little branch right there
is going to be a problem, and we know that
we need to call that now. And then it's it's
just not an issue. And and so for five years
you get that kind of attention and and warrantyed like
like we'll replace it. We're that confident in the the

(05:42):
root base of these trees, because that's really it's it's
what's underground, what's in that rootball? You don't you don't know,
you know, And and we've we've uncovered some of those
root balls and it's like, wow, that's an amazingly limited
amount of roots in that rootball. And we were at

(06:02):
actually a legacy training and they took part a potted
tree and that was just tangled meth and they took
part of a ball and bur lap tree and they
are hardly any any roots. And then they tried to
disrupt a brownie of a of a legacy tree. That's
what they call them as a brownie because it's kind
of a little rectangle and it's just a perfectly formed

(06:26):
roop plate and it's it's matted up with tons of
fine roots, but they aren't circling, they're they're going out
towards the edges. And so when you put it in
the ground, they elongate straight out in all directions and
it becomes a great root plate and and that's the
foundation of that new tree. That's why we can confidently

(06:50):
our root balls are more drought tolerant, they're they're faster established,
and we can give that five year warranty with confidence
and then we're to it every year. And you know,
and there's some added benefit to that is that we're
entering your yard and you know, we might see something
that you don't or or are showing up might prompt

(07:12):
a conversation with you, or you say I have been
thinking about this, and it just it just creates a
relationship versus just a one off sale, you would luck.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
And obviously the legacy tree, we talk about the warranty,
we talk about what makes them different, we talk about
the care that goes into them, and that's really a
huge benefit. The other thing to Kevin when you mentioned there,
and it's funny that you mentioned this is just having
that conversation, you know, when I talk to you each week,
things start to pop into my head. I'm like, oh,
I hadn't even you know, like earlier this week it's

(07:45):
been warm, So the dog's been going out for a walk,
and there's one particular tree on our street that I
always want to take a picture of the roots. My
dog loves it because it's like the roots are like
so intertwined with one other industries. I don't know how
old it is, quite old old tree, but it's got
those those roots that are all twisted up and kind
of some of them poking out of the ground. He

(08:05):
loves it because I think that the smells and other
things get trapped in those things. Sure, I always look
at it, go that's that's gross for folks that that
may have a tree like that in there are are
there ways to repair trees that may have may have
not been given that TLC or not been originally planted.
Probably there are ways. I'm going to guess that that

(08:27):
you have at Hams arborcare to help with those as well,
don't you?

Speaker 2 (08:31):
Yes, we do. And and you know oftentimes that that
one you're referring to might be you know, too far
gone right. And some trees are prone to get very
large root flares, and and they graft together above ground
and that's just the nature of them. And they are
best not planted by sidewalks. But a lot of trees

(08:55):
are prone to girdling roots. We can tell if they've
been planted too deeply, and when they're you know, five
to ten inches in diameter, that's probably the perfect time
for a remedial air speed excavation and then root pruning,
and we can prune those roots and we can maybe

(09:17):
regrade it. Sometimes we backfill with like a large bark
mulch so that we create a less conducive area for
roots to grow. And so we just wait for that
flare to build up. But there are remedial pruning that
we can do on the roots, and we have nice
little reciprocating saws that we can get in there and

(09:42):
cut those roots and it's kind of like cutting a
branch and we can save a tree that would otherwise
in ten years look like the one you're looking at
or something like it, and maybe even just kill the
tree at maybe twenty years, when a tree should live
much longer than twenty years.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
And one of that's one of the great things about
you know, getting on the schedule, having the folks from
Hams Barbacare come out, whether you're looking to plant a tree,
like a legacy tree, something that's going to be there
for generations, or of course general tree care. If you
a tree hasn't been looked at recently, inspected recently, or
if you're noticing something really great time of year, to
give him a call at Hams Arborcare tel for number
eight six sixty five nine six five three nine six.

(10:22):
That's eight six six five nine six five three nine six. Kevin.
It's always great chatting with you. A lot of great
stuff going on. I know we've got some busy weeks ahead.
We'll definitely look forward to talking with you in those
weeks to come. Thanks so much for joining us and
enjoy the great day.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
Thank you, Sean, take care.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
And again the website. Hey amsarbarcare dot com news comes

Kingdom of Fraud

It’s the unlikeliest of criminal partnerships: a devout polygamist from an insular Utah sect joining forces with a shadowy Armenian tycoon from LA. The result - a billion dollar fraud conspiracy. In Kingdom of Fraud, investigative reporter Michele McPhee traces the origins of the extraordinary alliance between Jacob Kingston and Levon Termendzhyan. Together, the two men trigger the largest tax investigation in American history and weave around themselves a web of dirty cops, influential political relationships and transnational money laundering. All this is set against the backdrop of Jacob Kingston’s clan – The Order. A powerful and secretive polygamist organization in Salt Lake City. To whom Jacob is desperate to prove his worth.
